hey! so it's been literally proven that russian agents have been actually doing this in the current moment. like the fact that this sounds a little silly to say is proof of how good they are. did everyone forget this?? it happened on tumblr!!!!
ik it doesn't make sense that another country would bother to do this without like invading them or declaring war or whatever but it's obvious putin's regime has trump in their pocket and that will materially benefit them!! alt right guys tried to infiltrate tumblr but they acted like stereotypes bc that's what they believe about other people. troll farmers don't give a shit and will just copy what legitimate activists are saying to gain cred and make inflammatory comments about wedge issues when they can. we have proof!!
the us did use these tactics in the 'war on terror' (as well as cold war conflicts obviously) and that wasn't a secret at the time, they were incredibly proud of it. the fbi was also forced to monitor 'antifa' by that man's administration and released a report saying all they found was twitter beef lol. that man has alienated the us intelligence community to the point that I kind of have to think they don't do assassinations anymore or he would've been shot for real. they have no interest in getting him elected because he is a national security threat.
like the fact is other countries have right wings too and they will sometime use the language of resisting us imperialism but that's not bc they hate imperialism. it's because they want to be the imperialists!!!! the us is not the ultimate bad in the same way it is not the ultimate good. that is just the flip side of american exceptionalism. we are not exceptional!!!! a lot of countries are as bad as us!!! I am honestly begging every leftist to internalize this!!! please!!!

Tribes of Europa, season 1 - thoughts
I finished season 1 of German post-apocalyptic Netflix drama Tribes of Europa a couple of days ago, and I have... lots of thoughts and mixed feelings.
It's a standard post-apocalyptic show with all the usual tropes, but mostly well done, and has potential. I ended up liking it better than I expected, mostly because one of the storylines (Kiano’s) turned out to be pretty good/interesting.
The main problem of the show is that most characters, so far, don't have a lot of depth. An exception is a female villain who has proven to be quite complex and interesting. On the other hand, while  I loved seeing Oliver Masucci, in a role completely different from Ulrich Nielsen, and he's great and charismatic, I feel like I've seen the exact same lovable rogue-turned-mentor character a dozen times in various shows and movies. The main trio of young protagonists have the potential for interesting character development, but it remains to be seen what saason 2 does with it.
At least there's one thing that makes the show different than most post-apocalyptic shows I'm aware of - I can't think of any others that take place on the European continent? Usually it's North America, Australia, or UK. So, that's interesting... But then, after I finished it, I started thinking a bit more about some of the elements of the worldbuilding, which are a bit... questionable? I'm reserving judgment till these things are explained.
Spoilers under the cut.
In the first episode, the show did the GoT thing of introducing us to a likable family and then having siblings separated by fate and trying to get back together, while having different storylines. But they should've spent a bit more time with them together and explaining their history.
The show also does that thing where the siblings look nothing like each other and are played by actors of different ethnic origins, so I was waiting to hear they were half-siblings or some other explanation, but there was none. Well, OK then.
One thing I wasn't crazy about is that Kiano had a girlfriend we saw for about 20 seconds and then she apparently got killed for no particular reason. I can't say it's even fridging, since he never even mentions her afterwards and he has a lot of other reasons to hate the Crows.
But Kiano's storyline turned out to be the most interesting , and most disturbing, the kind that can make or break the show, depending on how it deals with issues like slavery, rape, trauma. So far, the show has dealt with it well, which made me like the show more than I thought. (It definitely beats The 100 - a show it was the 100 in the Netflix promo campaign - in that respect. I was already scared it would do something similar to The 100, which really dropped the ball when it touched on such issues in a really clumsy way in season 3.)
Lord Varvara has turned out to be the most interesting and compelling character, and excellently played by Melika Foroutan. (I wish I could say the same about the Crows’ big boss, Yvar - but whether it is mostly due to the OTT costume and makeup or the similarly OTT acting, I had a hard time taking this guy seriously.) She is not exactly morally grey - she is definitely a villain, slaver rapist and murderer, but her role as a former slave - a victim of abuse turned abuser, and someone who upholds the ideas of Social Darwinism - makes her role very interesting and ambiguous. I think that (especially based on some hints) that she used to be a sex slave, too, and if she was also made to be a Crow by her former slave master, that would probably mean Yvar used to be her master. That could lead to some interesting tension and conflicts, as she probably hates this guy deep inside, but still has to vie for his approval, even now that she has “made it”.  And she sees to see something in Kiano that makes her think they are similar, that he is 'strong' like she thinks she is (on the other hand, she despised her other slave who had a huge Stockholm Syndrome for her).
I'm curious how they deal with Kiano's character development next season, and how far into moral greyness or darkness it will be willing to go with him. Varvara is a blueprint of what he could become.  He didn't exactly show much concern for the lives of other slaves, except his father.
Liv's storyline was also pretty interesting. with her navigating the political issues of the Crimsons. I liked that the Crimsons as a whole turned out to be more morally grey than I initially expected - with their strict military discipline to the point of authorianism and lack of tolerance for dissent.
I don't know if the show expected me to side with the general (aka "Father") or think his views were right, as Liv did? I did not.. "Let's make peace and unity with slavers"? No, dude. But I’ll go with the idea that we are not necessarily supposed to side with him rather than David just because Liv did; or that a third option may be found (such as causing a rebellion among the Crows themselves, which would be my preferred direction of that storyline).
(I also rolled my eyes whenever he started going on about "old European dream" or whatever he called it. No, my dude, you need to brush up on your history. Your plan is nothing like the EU, unless your plan is to go and deliver a bunch of demands to the Crows:  "Unless you guys: abolish slavery; ensure human rights for everyone; install a viable non-slavery based economy etc.. - we're not letting you into our new unified Europe!" He also may needed to be reminded EU was formed after Axis powers were defeated.)
I've heard that a lot of people didn't like Elja's storyline because they found it the least interesting, and sure, it wasn't very emotional and didn't have much character development, but I'm very curious about the mystery of the Black December, the Atlantians etc. so I liked it.  And I liked the fact that Elja wasn't a naive kid and could deceive people and keep secrets when he needed to.
But there are certain problems I have with the show’s world-building... which, at its worse, may end up being just as problematic as The 100′s was.
While I like the idea of a post-apocalyptic show set in continental Europe, and with languages other than English - almost all of the characters are only speaking German or English (the latter, I guess, for the same reason it's widespread today - people speak it as a second language and use it to communicate). We should really see more people who speak other languages. So far, that’s only happened sporadically - but my problem is more with the fact that the most villainous tribe, Crows (murderous, slave-owning Eurotrash-like villains with very Social Darwinist views) -  even though they speak German or English 99% of the time - very notably use certain words from Slavic languages - and only for specific terms like "lubovnik" ('lover' - actually sex slave), "boi" (fight/battle), "svobodnik" (free man?). These were very recognizable. I have no idea what "Bozie" means, but I read somewhere it comes from Russian. What's supposed to be the backtory behind that? Sure, I am for more language diversity, but did a German show have to give the kind of barbaric-version-of-fascist villains these questionable Slavic references?  That would be uncomfortable in so many ways.... It's not just Slavs, because another notable Crow character, Grieta at some point used Romanian (and the actress is Romanian), but I hope they're not going with the Evil Barbaric Eastern Europeans here. To be fair, many Crows were clearly slaves at the beginning, which complicates things... but Varvara says her real name - slave name - was Sophia, which could be anything - while her Crow names is Varvara - which definitely sounds Russian or Bulgarian (or, I guess, it could be Greek).
On the other side, opposed to the Crows, we have the more “civilized” tribe/army of former Eurocorps, whose members have so far only been heard speaking English, German and, at one point, Dutch - curiously called Red Crimson Army (!), I have so many questions...
Another questionable thing, pointed by the host of the Culture Cave YouTube podcast, who did an overall favorable review of the show, howeverpointed out that the Crows - the villains - are the only ones who don't conform to gender roles? And the males who are the most 'effeminate' looking are baddies. I didn’t even think of that initially, but thinking about it... yes, it has been like that so far, hasn’t it?
I’m reserving judgment till next season, but I only used to give The 100 the benefit of doubt with its questionable world-building, and we know how that turned out.

What a Hula Hola Hoop Invented
What was the hula hoop invented for? Was it for the exercise found in the hula hoop? It seems to have been primarily concerned with increasing the speed and distance in which a hula hoop could be moved. This is evident in hula hoop invented ads. It seems that most of the hula hoop invented ads were intended to promote a particular brand of hula hoop. These hula hoop invented research ads also commonly promoted the selling of hula hoop accessories such as hula hoop hoops, hula hoop skirts, hula hoop bags, hula hoop headbands, hula hoop bracelets, hula hoop jewelry, hula hoop dancewear, and hula hoop toys.
Why was the hula hoop invented? A hula hoop is thought to have been invented in Hawaii by settlers and the hula hoop became extremely popular throughout the United States and the rest of the world. Two reasons are often given for the hula hoop's sudden success. One reason was the hula hoop's announcement in the media. Wham-O created a hula hoop ad that made the hula hoop a household name and many were attracted to the hula hoop's announcement that they could now take part in hula hoop games at any place.
Wham-O also advertised hula hoops that allowed children to hula hoop at any age even when they were off the school premises. The hula hoop was so popular and so prevalent that a world day hula hoop tournament was held in New York City in January 1960. There are hula hoop games played every day all around the world. These hula hoop games are played for fun, but they are also considered sports and a great way to release tension and build muscles.
There are hula hoop contests, hula hoop championships and hula hoop videos being distributed every day. The hula hooters that Wham-O designed became an instant hit. Many new hula hoop designs were also created. Wham-O introduced hula hoos that have spinners, trays and other features that make them unique.
The hula hooters that are most famous are hula hooters with trays and spinners. When the device is used in place of a basketball it makes the game of hula hoop a whole lot more exciting. If the hula hooters are attached to a net and propped up against a wall or post it becomes a stationary hula hoop. This type of hula hoop has become very popular with backyard play.
When you think of hula hoop, do you imagine a hula hoop that is used for dancing or do you imagine it as a fun and light hearted toy? Well, hula hula dance parties are the answer to the question, what would a hula hoop be without its purpose of bringing a young person joy and happiness? In a hula hula dance party young people can learn and practice hula hoop moves. They can learn how to release stress, how to have fun dancing together.
Young people get bored with their lives very easily and hula hula dance parties are one way to keep them busy. If they need a break from school, from work or from whatever they need to do they can go to hula hula dance parties. These parties are also good for getting away from things that may bring stress into a person's life. Stress affects everybody at some time or another. Sometimes it happens without us even noticing.
We are all aware that hula hoop is great exercise. It allows a person to tone up and become healthy. A hula hula hoop also gives young girls a way to learn more about themselves by going to hula hula hoop workshops and hula hoop competitions. In a hula hoop dance party young girls can learn to socialize, learn to make friends and bond while having fun.

Cultural Globalisation
Cultures and traditions, through globalisation, have been intermingling, creasing a whole array of good and bad impacts, the base for striking debates, and for me importantly: a chunk of what my exams are probably going to be on. Well, here are my notes and case studies:
In 1959, Fidel Castro declared Cuba to be a communist country, separated from Western capitalism. It remained isolated for 50 years, relying on subsidies from communist USSR until 1991, when it collapsed. Cuba seemed to have no other option but to allow in tourism to develop its economy, resulting in increasing awareness of other cultures.
In 2008, Fidel Castro resigned, and his brother took over, and decided to weaken communism. Free enterprise businesses were allowed to set up, in a relaxed communism that somewhat reflected China’s. Since 2012, Cubans could buy and sell houses, take out loans and start businesses, at the loss of state-employment guarantees and state-owned farmland was sold. This allowed USA-Cuban relations to improve. However, it has increased divisions, with some wealthy Cuban entrepreneurs living in luxury, while some live in tumble-down houses, with no variety in their simple diet--bread, eggs and plantain and state rations. This is as differences in wealth, and person leads to different chances of success. From then, it’s positive feedback, as the poor cannot help their kids do better. Capitalists too, don’t have such incentive to help their workers.
Today, Cuba is in a state of change. Tourists, TV and the internet have allowed Cubans to broaden their knowledge of the wider world, and learn about the challenges to their values and traditions, so globalisation is diluting Cuban culture. This cultural erosion has also led to a detriment in the environment, with the coral reefs at risk as beach-side tourist resorts are erupted.  This process is called cultural diffusion: Western attitudes and values have spread to Cuba, and also to around the world. Maintaining a strong Cuban identity is very difficult.
The economy changes, ways of life changes, attitudes and values change. Global changes are impacting how people view the world, and these global changes can be seen on a local level: called glocal cultures. British cities have been transformed by inwards migration to hubs of cultural diversity, with its own new character, new identity, compared to just a mix of others. These areas are called ethnic enclaves, with some examples being Indian populations in London, South East, and East of England.
There are several key ideas surrounding this concept of globalisation of society: culture is the ideas, customs and social practices of a particular people or society; cultural diffusion is the spread of cultural beliefs and activities from one group (ethnicities, religions, nationalities) to another through communication, transport and technology; cultural erosion is when cultural diversity is reduced through popularisation; cultural imperialism is when one culture of a nation is promoted over another, otherwise known as westernisation.
The main culprits of cultural imperialism, westernisation and americanisation are, of course, Europe and North America, turning western culture into a global culture. The factors amplifying this today include TNCs, tourism, global media and migration. The main protector of individual cultures is language: things don’t translate straight into each other, something is lost in translation. But as the same groups control global media, which impacts language, there is increasingly common vocabulary.  Global homogenisation is the process of culture everywhere becoming one.
News Corp, owned by Rupert Murdoch, impacts political and cultural thinking worldwide. They have 101 newspapers in Australia (national and suburban); four in the Uk including The Times and The Sun; over 25 papers in the USA including The New York Post and The Wall Street Journal and a 33% share in Russia’s leading financial times paper. Television wise: Fox is theirs; My Network TV; channels in Eastern Europe, Israel, Indonesia and NZ. Their satellites are: BSkyB in the UK, Foxtel in Aus, SKY in NZ/Ita/Ger and StarTV in Asia. Politically, Fox TV in the USA openly supports the Republican Party, while every winning party in the UK since 1979 has been promoted by the Sun (EW, WHY UK?).
IT and digital communication means that the rate and desire of consumption has changed, and the products themselves have changed, as hybrid products are on the rise, where global TNCs create a cultural mix. What we consume generally is based on the work of small groups of big TNCs. 90% of the music market is owned by five companies: EMI, Universal, AOL, Time Warner, SonyBMG. They’ve focused on cutting the range of successful artists: it’s easier to promote one than promote several. This one becomes universal, rather than having different, local artists, contributing to homogenisation in the music world. Globalisation is the new term for cultural imperialism, and helps this musical homogenisation as it promotes the spread of TNCs due to easier connections to promote one thing worldwide, and distribute one product rather than  just producing local music.
Some may consider the change of value as a good thing (the fact that the textbook author portrays this as good literally demonstrates this westernisation, as he proposes that these values are right. Don’t get me wrong, I 100% agree that these values are good, but the fact that he’s portraying them positively is literally proof of what he’s saying and it’s funny. Or is that just me? Just me, sorry, ignore this). One of these is the attitude to disability. In China, 2011, official data reported that only 25% of disabled people could find employment. They were stigmatised, marginalised, abused. Yet, in 2012, they won the paralympics. This helps to destigmatize disability (but boy, have we got far to go!) as described by disabled Australian TV presenter Adam Hills: “Sydney was the first Paralympics to treat Paralympians as equals. London was the first to treat them as heros”. The West is adopting more liberal ideas on ethical issues, such as gay rights (gay rights!), and we can see that homogenisation is far off from total control, with how this contrasts with attitudes in places like Russia and the Middle East.
There is obviously resistance to globalisation. I personally feel like these notes do portray it as negative until the last few paragraphs. It’s perceived to be exploitation of people and the environment. The general criticisms link to: the environment, third world debt, animal rights, child-labour, anarchism, and mostly anti-capitalism and opposition to TNCs. There are many anti-globalisation and environmental pressure groups rejecting globalised culture and TNCs especially (like tax avoidance). The Occupy is one such group, and held demonstrations in cities like London and New York (now that is ironic). The main targets for anti-globalisation movements are the WTO, IMF and World Bank, as well as large US TNCs like McDonald and Starbucks, on the exploitation of the workers, and environment, making it easier for the rich to get away with wrong, and erasing cultures (Americanisation).
Anti-globalisation and rejection of cultural diffusion can even occur on a governmental level. Iran confiscated Barbie Dolls for being un-islamic in the 2000s, but ended up liberalised due to a need for international assistance in dealing with radicalism, and the youth still accessing banned social media, like Twitter and Facebook. Until the 2000s, France led the anti-globalisation movement, limiting broadcasting of foreign material--40% of broadcasts had to be French and no more than 55% American film imports--but has had to liberalise this due to internet downloading of media and due to successful TNCs from France, like EDF energy.
In Norway, for hundreds of years, local fishermen have hunted whales and the food source was considered part of their tradition and culture. The Norwegian representatives claimed that their northern coastal villages depended on hunting and fishing for their livelihoods. Although whaling is not a big part of the Norwegian national budget, it is still considered a crucial source of income for those fishermen who need it. They also argued that the global effort to prohibit the hunting of whales amounted to an imposition of other countries' cultural values that contradicted their own, since it cannot be environmental concerns, for the whales they hunted were not endangered--it’s all based on values. The US Department of Commerce has even suggested that trade restrictions be imposed upon Norway, because it was violating the International Whaling Commission's ban on these kinds of whaling activities. Here, the environment, different values and nationalism clash.
Papua New Guinea has over 7000 cultural groups, with different languages, diets, etc. living in different villages or hamlets, and generally sustained by subsidence farming, fishing and collection. People who are skilled and also generous in getting food are well respected. Then, colonisation meant tribal tensions were crushed, and people were used on plantations and integrated into a new economic and political system. Christianity and western ideals have come forth, with value being placed in well-educated and successful workers, and intermarriage between tribes has lead to losses of languages and direct cultural conflict. Mining took place in one tribal area, meant to benefit all, but the local tribe was doubtful, and resented those on the mainland for allowing the Aussies and Brits to come in and mine. They developed into a revolutionary army, causing conflict in the 1990s, fighting between citizens, youth gangs, riots, looting, returning tribal warfare and huge law and order problems.
The USA and UK have faced increasing nationalisation as a political movement. These are potentially seen in things like the Brexit vote, and election of Trump. Some follow it due to the dilution of their native culture and loss of sovereignty, others due to the low-income and low-level education people in HICs feel as though they have been left out of the benefits of globalisation. While it has the same benefits of protectionism, nationalism can lead to negative impacts, most notably through marginalisation/persecution of ethnic minority groups, ironically emphasising the whole trope and reason for cultural imperialism in the first place.

Acknowledging the Beauty of European Tribal Roots: Yes you can be Proud without being "racist"♡ And how does Animal Identity Veganism apply here + help fight oppression?
There is nothing inherently wrong with or racist about being proud of ones roots. The Vikings, Celts, Saami etc were/are tribal people who, interestingly, never took part in the Corporate Industrial created Chattel Slavery and Colonialism that England, France, Spain and Portugal etc did. Before being tainted by the poisons of Supremacy, which pits women, animals and other "races" on the bottom rungs of an imaginary ladder, there were Europeans who were deeply in touch with nature, spirituality and respect for other life. I do believe that if colonialism and Racism were never imposed on the world by the British and their American colony the USA in the 1700s, that the Celts and other European pagan tribes and many West African tribes would have been trading freely and even joining forces against larger powers if they had known about each other, just like Bini nations of West Africa traded with the Portuguese before the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
The only reason why someone shouting "white pride" is considered racist (which includes speciesism and environmental destruction) is because the "white" identity was a construct invented by imperialist colonizers, not the nature-adoring European tribes that were stripped of their sovereignty and cultures by imperialists. No one identified as "white" until colonizers invented a "black" race. Color obsession was not a thing.
Some similarities between Viking mythology and Yoruba mythology are so glaring, that the deities Thor and Shango would have probably been seen as the same force manifesting itself in different ways to different peoples in their own images. I do believe that a *misuse* of Abrahamic religions helped this Supremacy Paradigm to fester into what it is today. Not to say there wasn't tribal warfare & degeneracy amongst pagans, but the approach was completely different, and the amount of power the "backwards" nations had was not bolstered on a belief that they were divinely Superior or a "chosen" group based on Science or Religion.
Integration and exchange usually took place between the conqueror and the conquered, and slavery (indentured servitude) was often finished with normal integration into the captor's society. This was the norm before American (Colonizer) Chattel Slavery, the predecessor to factory farming and hyper-capitalism.
Also, not all Christian societies are ongoing imperialist: examples of peaceful Christians are the Egyptian Copts, Ethiopia and post-classical Greece. So Christianity is not the culprit. "White" Christianity is. There is a difference between the "white" identity and strong, beautiful European identity, which in the past was NOT color-based but ethnicity based.
Tribal people despite their hunting traditions, had a deep LOVE and respect for non-human animals and a deep reverence for life and spirit. Even the Vikings who were known to pillage and raid always left behind something useful and never totally enslaved or wiped out other people with the same arrogance and science-religious angle of the imperial powers. They never created a Racial Hierarchy or Scientific Racism to justify their actions. That is the key difference.
Imagine how peaceful and green the world would be, and how easily veganized it would be too in this modern era, if all these non-colonizer European groups had never had to inherit the baggage of their colonizer neighbors? There is a beauty in embracing the ancient wisdoms of people who live in accordance with the environment. Even today in modern times, the places of the Celts, Vikings and Roma have some of the most welcoming and ecologically sound countries, with a right to maintain them. But they are suffering the consequences of their neighbors' destructive history. England deserves to be changed in the same way it permanently changed Africa, America and Australia. Deal.
Not all people of European descent subscribe to supremacy paradigms, so I want to call out any of my fellow vegans of color who mistakenly group all "white" people into that colonizer category. Tell me when in history a Finnish Saami has ever colonized you? Never. These are our allies in that they to this day face similar struggles (Celtic groups have been oppressed by Anglo groups etc) and so it would actually do better if we could see beyond the farce and dig to the root of modern systems of oppression, which is the colonial-industrial corporate matrix that relies on subjugation to thrive. This matrix hates self-sustaining societies that opt out of the "free market" and instead choose localized lifestyles. Not to say globalization doesn't have its perks. Technology and such have allowed me to use Tumblr, so I always see the positive in the negative as well. That is the holistic approach to life. We can use what chaos gave us and turn it into something better for all. Example: electric cars, or using computers to spread awareness.
Now,
This does not mean it is okay to derail intersectional voices in veganism though, nor is this the Oppression Olympics, because we all know only 1 set of "races" are considered animals (African, Australian & Melanesian types) by the Supremacy Paradigm. Only 1 set of races were oppressed in the name of legitimized institutions (Science, Religion, Anthropology) to this day on a MASS scale for 500+ years. This also does not ignore the Holocaust, but again, different issue (similar animalization scheme though, which is VERY important here).
The acceptance of veganism comes naturally to those who seek to reconnect with their roots and protect the planet we all call home. The real desire is to get back in touch with nature and live harmoniously and harmlessly with other beings. The only issue is that modern incarnations of primitivism do not have the same amount of reverence or respect for non human animals as indigenous tribes worldwide had. But we can use the vibe of paleo as a gateway that can present sustainable hunting a good alternative to factory farming, the way native Amerindians have done it for years.
Along this journey, I invite people of all walks of life to partake in animal identity veganism if they know how to use their voice for abused and oppressed animals while acknowledging the animalization of humans that has resulted in parallel abuses. Animal Identity veganism can be embraced by any religion, any color, any creed, any lifestyle. If you are Pagan or Christian or Jewish, that's not the issue. If your heart feels at peace when you connect yourself to those who suffer in an attempt to liberate, you have a right to walk this path but know that you cannot be the face of it, because you are already free.
The poisonous ideas that were seeded within the powerful empires of Europe and tainted innocent people, who, presented with scientific and religious justifications for racism, were tricked into putting their anger and problems onto people groups who wanted nothing to do with their world, are the driving force behind division.

DM comments Best of Part 2
Best part 2 New698 gammagirl80, london, United Kingdom, 8 hours ago Before she went public with Harry MM had been shown in interviews multiple times talking about her father in a positive light (antidotes, stories, memories, etc). If she’s harbored such resentment since childhood or even early adulthood she wouldn’t have talked about him at all. The isolation from her father (and other friends) appears to have started in 2016. (Replies) New1842798 LittleMsJones, Villefranche, France, 7 hours ago Exactly, it’s because she didn’t want those around her to let it slip who she was and her salacious past. She can’t hide forever, it’s only a matter of time before the real truth comes out and the RF kick her to the kerb. New46649
Rowan, Imladris, 7 hours ago In 2017 she was still pushing this daddy’s girl narrative. The fallout only started after he realised he was about to be cut off after not receiving a wedding invitation. New26589 Sfm001, Wolves, United Kingdom, 7 hours ago She mad her father is risking her meal ticket nothing more. She has no reason not to call her father and not talk about anything other than how they both are. New22415 JS, Somerset, United Kingdom, 7 hours ago She does not want daddy telling the truth about her age or past to Harry. New30468 Heresathought, Southwest, United States, 7 hours ago She was just trying to fool everyone…making it look like she cared so Harry would not think less of her. Now that she is married he is history. New18397 Babe, In Belgium, 7 hours ago My parents did awful things when I was young. However it’s not something I usually mention to people whose business it is not. In fact I find that most people just can’t comprehend what narcissus are capable of so it s better not to mention it. Narcissus are best ignored. Any attention you give them encourages them. Tom and Sam being a case in point. Nothing will shut them up ever. MM is not at fault here. I am sure Hurry was well aware of the situation. New299125 LoveThisLife, Southeast Seashore U.S., United States, 7 hours ago Yes. Started in 2016. So she would not lose Harry. Very convenient timing! New18370 chanceska , No Where Near , United States, 6 hours ago Babe. I totally understand that. But I’ve never fawned over my narcissist family members in public or on social media, like Megan did, either. So she was either lying before about how great her dad was, or she’s lying now. New16386 Curlylocks, Northern Virginia, United States, 6 hours ago It sounds like he was the custodial parent who paid for most of her schooling. That alone should have earned him some measure of gratitude. Surely she can talk to him without telling him anything important. New11303 Korova Milk Bar, Somewhere, United Kingdom, 6 hours ago Babe, I’m sorry that you had a rough upbringing. THat makes you empathetic to others that you think are in the same situation as you, feeling the same way as you. I think you are projecting a lot of your own experiences onto Meghan and this debacle. Bottom line, we dont’ know what Meghan’s situation really is, we can only go off how she professed great love and admiration for her father for years until she married Harry. Combine this with her history of dumping people and dogs that can’t get her ahead, and I can assure you, the sole problem is not Thomas Markle. I think Meghan brings her fair share to this mess as well. New18267 sam my, Westworld, Togo, 6 hours ago But, she was a Daddies girl all those years, and now all of a sudden she can’t be bothered…. any father would be hurt by this treatment. He is only going to the outlet available to him, the media. Was Doria ever mentioned on Tig? New16383 Myrtile, london, 6 hours ago chanceska, either way, she’s a liar. New16238 sweetsexything, vancouver, Canada, 5 hours ago We totally understand the whole story! Meghan presents herself as loving daughter to the media. And now, she’s bagged the gold, Meghans manipulative, liar, fake face comes out - “he is better dead” It would have been easier if Meghan is truth to herself… but she lies. She alyways lies! Everything about her are all lies. New17234 sweetsexything, vancouver, Canada, 5 hours ago My favourite lies are “I didn’t know much about the Royal Family” lol. Is she kidding us? She was always in and out of London thus it says she knows Britain cultures. What about the “I’ don’t want to be a lady that lunches” Lol. Meghan who presents herself as hardworking is not working anymore.“ He isvery sexist, always talking about women as if they are pieces of meat.” And yet Meghan shows up at Craig’s interview and acts like she is a piece of meat “touch me! I’m really hairless” New17271 Iseult, North Coast NI, United Kingdom, 4 hours ago Most people aren’t stupid enough to be fooled by this latest version of the Meghan/father relationship. The truth is she was praising him for all sorts of things until she met Harry, then he was cut out of her life, no more mention of being a Daddy’s girl, something she’d said she was in an interview that’s still on YouTube. Some people want to help her rewrite the narrative, but anyone with a grain of sense can see the timing of when she decided to dump him and her other relatives, including those who’d helped her in the past. Harry is a complete fool not to be able to see this for himself, or maybe he’s such a snob he really wants to persuade people she has no family of her own so he doesn’t have to meet them. How the two of them ever thought they’d get away with a twisted untrue version of events that’s flatly contradicted by every word she uttered about her father in the past I don’t know. Harry really has sunk lower than I could ever have imagined possible. New9153 Lauren, Australia, 3 hours ago Agree, just shows how much cr-p she is full of. New10147 PATRICIA, memphis, United States, 3 hours ago @gammagirl… “antidotes”?, don’t you mean “anecdotes”?
New654 Sam, Denver CO, 8 hours ago The only person I feel sorry for in all this drama is the Queen. She does not deserve this. (Replies) New2192355 D63, Greenville, United States, 8 hours ago True, but she could have put a stop to it, or at least insisted Harry and MeAgain live a private life. New23587 purplevalues, South East, United Kingdom, 7 hours ago I think it would be up to Charles to insist that Harry and Meghan take a back seat role. I don’t think he will do that, as it would be tantamount to admitting that we don’t actually NEED minor royals to cut ribbons at all. New10261 Babe, In Belgium, 7 hours ago Words can’t express how pathetic this comment is… You feel sorry for the Queen. Presumptuous Much?! Lady Di, Fergie, Charles & Camilla…. The RF is a shambles and you think the Queen has naught to do with It? She rules that household like Maggi Thatcher. Every royal house of Europe has passed the torch to the next heir…. Except England. New66159 JS, Somerset, United Kingdom, 7 hours ago Did our queen really take tea with an ex convict? was Doria not vetted by security services beforehand? New24263 zip it44, Markham, Canada, 7 hours ago Then the Queen should do something about this. Quick. New10219 neolang, London, United Kingdom, 6 hours ago The Queen is praised for not being too open with her views and forceful against people she may find unpleasant.t She tries not to interfere too often in drama or political issues. When she does make a comment, it’s usually very concise but passionate such as when she described the Manchester attack as “wicked” but left it as that. New4104 Tiny CO2, Warrington, United Kingdom, 6 hours ago The Queen might be cross but she doesn’t need sympathy. And no, it’s none of her business so she shouldn’t interfere. After all, few can know more about how the press operates. Most people have no idea that this is going on and even more don’t care. New1160 Monalisa Oak, London, United Kingdom, 6 hours ago She had suffered for almost sixteen years from 1981 to 1997 by certain unpredictable new comer to Ryal Family blaming them - the members of RF - and pretending to be a victim before she disappeared overnight. Now another episode has just begun, I do feel for 92 years old lady, though I am a royalist. New1974 sam my, Westworld, Togo, 6 hours ago The queen is the ultimate power in that family, sure she is old, but still has them in line. Look how they act around her to see that. She should have insisted that Harry and Meg live quiet lives, but they wanted to rebrand themselves as the new Humanitarians, and now this fiasco is going on, and will for years it seems. New12293 Myrtile, london, 6 hours ago The Queen might have left the throne to her heir like other regents but Charles is not really someone you want as King. New45177 Tuneful, Silver Spring MD, United States, 4 hours ago I hope he (PC) is growing a pair, because this is out of control. It appears he has asked that she leave one party early so far. He better reign in her out-of-control spending and those expensive jaunts abroad every week or two. No matter how much they try to sell her, people aren’t buying. New8139 WeAreAmused, Venice, United States, 4 hours ago Markles taking potshots at one another across the Atlantic is as pointless as the original “Guns of August” leading up to WWI. If KP/BP doesn’t defuse this soon, it’s going to be just as unpredictably destructive for all the parties involved. Where are the adults in the room? New677 cindymae, blairsville US, United States, 3 hours ago The Queen approved it" New523 LightDweller, Bournemouth, United Kingdom, 3 hours ago The Queen agreed to this mess. She has poor judgement. New990 The View From Here, Gold Coast, Australia, 3 hours ago JS….The Queen has taken tea with more ex convicts and dubious characters than you’ve had hot dinners. Mugabe, Assad and Tony Blair for a start. New762 ToTheMoon79, New York, United States, 1 hour ago She allowed this! New222 Janet Mayhem, LA, United States, 11 minutes ago The Queen can end all of this whenever she pleases.
New00 melissa612, Minneapolis, United States, 8 hours ago She doesn’t want him talking to the press but it’s ok if she does? Pot? Meet kettle. (Replies) New3372231 ThatChickYouDontLike, NY, United States, 8 hours ago She didn’t say anything , DM made up a source as usual and you fall for the lie as usual. New236228 LittleMsJones, Villefranche, France, 8 hours ago No, she just got her friends to. New69271 ThatChickYouDontLike, NY, United States, 8 hours ago I’m honestly not going to debate the stupidity of believing anything published by the DM. They have consistently proven themselves to be reporting fabrication, let’s not forget the wedding dress etc, yet people still think that THIS paper is the bastion of truth and ethical reporting. New74154 Betterworld22, Somewhere, United States, 7 hours ago Who believes this BS from a “source” I thought the dm said Meghan does not have any friends. Give it a rest. I bet with Meghan and Harry on holiday the dm will have a lot of information from their imaginary sources. Got to keep the haters satisfied. New8698 Nomdeplume, melbourne, 7 hours ago Honestly, I am no fan but why do people believe a story that has ‘source’ or a 'close friend’ in the story and then blah blah blah for the rest of the story. New47129 silverlight, Bristol, United Kingdom, 7 hours ago She said it because it’s the only thing she can say if she wants to salvage even a shred of her tawdry reputation. New36195 teadream, taipei, Taiwan, 7 hours ago DM said so. She doesn’t say anything. New5852 Tiny CO2, Warrington, United Kingdom, 6 hours ago 'blathering’ is an odd word for an anonymous friend of American Meghan to attribute to her. It can’t be… it can’t be made up could it? Or just repeating gossip from a friend of a friend of someone who spoke to her once? New2050 Monalisa Oak, London, United Kingdom, 6 hours ago Low life family joining British Royal Family to bring down the monarchy soon. New1283 pianochick86, LA, United States, 6 hours ago Her “friends” can also blab to the media all they want as long as they flatter her and kiss her behind. New12154 sam my, Westworld, Togo, 6 hours ago Does anyone know how the so called media in the UK works? You are not allowed to malign the RF, they can shut you down! So this article is with KP and BP approval. COUNT ON IT. Is how they guage their popularity from month to month. It is about perception, not reality, I have been saying this for months about this so called royal family. New20120 Augusta T Bigfoot, Louisiana, United States, 5 hours ago Meghan used her father’s Hollywood connections to get in to the business and then dumped after she nabbed Harry. By the way her father was a gaffer not a gafter. Little research DM New20166 Blue, Here, 5 hours ago Sammy, there have been countless articles and books over the years maligning the RF. They weren’t shut down or bumped off. People seem to have strange ideas about the supposed power of the royals. New1941 MOR, Jackson, United States, 4 hours ago The “friends” here are obviously Palace PR. New339 It matters, Dublin, Ireland, 3 hours ago This is a deliberate press 'leak’ from the palace aimed at damage limitation. New6116 T Time, London, United Kingdom, 3 hours ago People will believe anything when they don’t like the person in question. I’ve noticed that a lot with DM commenters

Dimethylaminoethanol Side Effects - Know About These Side Effects Before Taking This Supplement
Dimethylaminoethanol Side Effects - Know About These Side Effects Before Taking This Supplement
Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE) is a very common ingredient in many popular and diet pills. This ingredient is a derivative of dimethylaminoethanol, also known as dimethylaminoethanolamine or dimethylaminoethanol. Some of the most popular diet pills contain dimethylaminoethanolamine. If you're looking for a weight loss supplement, it is very likely that one of these diet pills will be on your list.
The DMAE in a dimethylaminoethanol supplement reacts with the body's cells to produce the chemical known as ephedrine. This substance is used to increase the metabolism. When used in conjunction with energy supplements, dimethylaminoethanol can have a dramatic effect on the user's weight loss efforts. However, there are serious side effects to this product and it is illegal to use as an appetite suppressant in products intended for sale to sell to consumers. If you're considering using a dimethylaminoethanol supplement or if you have questions about the safety of this ingredient, it is important to understand how it works.
Most people don't think about the chemical composition of diet pills before they buy them. While there is nothing inherently wrong with a product containing dimethylaminoethano l, there are some serious issues that consumers need to be made aware of. Before you decide to take any diet product or add a dimethylaminoethanol supplement to your daily routine, be sure to read the label and talk to your doctor or pharmacist to be sure the product is safe for you. Also talk to others who may have used it to make sure they were able to have good results and find out what they thought of the product.
When buying a supplement consider the ingredients. Look at the complete list of ingredients to make sure you aren't taking a diet pill that contains dimethylaminoethanol or any other dangerous chemical. When possible you should try and see if the product has been verified by a third party agency such as the European Food Safety Agency. If the manufacturer is unable to prove that the dimethylaminoethanol contained in their supplements is safe, it's probably not worth your time or your money to purchase the supplement.
Another thing to think about when purchasing dimethylaminoethanol supplements are side effects. It's easy to think that all supplements will work well with no negative side effects and take a chance. However, dimethylaminoethanol MARKET RESEARCH REPORT is known to cause serious problems for some people. Some people experience vomiting, dizziness, headaches, stomach cramps, and even vision problems.
The best way to choose a supplement that is right for you is to consult with your doctor first. They can help you decide whether or not it's right for you and your diet. You'll likely have to undergo several tests before they give you the okay to take dimethylaminoethanol supplements. These tests will involve blood tests, urine tests, and even interviews of your medical history. The doctor may also decide that you should wait until your body gets used to the supplement before you begin. This allows your body to get used to dimethylaminoethanol and avoid possible negative side effects.
You may find that dimethylaminoethanol supplements can be found in a number of health food stores and pharmacies. There are also numerous websites online that offer these dietary supplements. Before taking a dimethylaminoethanol supplement, be sure to talk to your doctor. While they may not recommend a certain dimethylaminoethanol supplement, they can point you in the direction of products that might be safer.
If you're considering taking a dimethylaminoethanol supplement, know that there are many options out there. Speak to your doctor about any safety concerns that you have about taking this substance and about any dimethylaminoethanol side effects that you experience. Don't take the risk. Instead, talk to your doctor about the best alternative for you.

How we buy sneakers is changing, but brick-and-mortar stores are still crucial industry pillars. Not only do they bring together the community, nurture the culture, and act as an authoritative mediating force between brands and consumers, but they are also a gateway into sneaker culture and a stepping stone for many that go on to work in the industry.
Like most areas of the sneaker world, decision-making roles in retail remain largely the domain of men. In fact, of all the sneaker stores in the world — from boutiques to chain stores — less than 10 are run by women. Sadly, this isn't that surprising. Opening a store is a huge investment for anyone, but additional challenges faced by those that don't fit the stereotypical industry mold make it harder and understandably less appealing.
Susan Boyle opened cult New York store Rime (RIP) in 2007, and as one of the first women to run an independent sneaker boutique, she knows better than most the difficulties faced. “I wasn't taken seriously for a long time," she explains. "I do feel that I faced a lot of challenges in the sneaker business because of my gender, and looking back now, 14 years later, the fact that I was even acknowledged in the industry and that I was able to do collaborations and break some barriers is pretty amazing, because no one really wanted a woman there in the first place."
Similarly, Kickslove owner Lisa Barlow was forced to close the London-based store in 2018. "My biggest challenge was access to the product that the other independent sneakerhead stores were getting. It was really disappointing not to have been supported by the big brands — all sneaker stores' business relies upon carrying the best products from the leading brands," shares Barlow. "Brands can make the most impact not just by writing women's strategies, but actually executing it with a special focus on the entire female demographic and with inclusivity in mind. Then, follow through with them locally through access to product, local marketing, or bringing awareness to a retailer through events that will help elevate them in a crowded and mainly male space. A lot of brands are pushing a purposeful agenda now, and nothing is more purposeful and powerful than helping young female entrepreneurs find their space in the industry." Barlow now runs Kicksloved, an online platform for sustainable and preloved sneakers.
To keep pushing towards parity and opening up sneaker culture to a wider and more diverse customer base, seeing that same diversification reflected in retail ownership is essential. Despite the difficulties, we're thankfully heading in that direction and there are now more women-owned stores than ever. We spoke to those blazing the trail around the world about retail’s role in creating an inclusive community and what they’re doing to amplify the voices of those overlooked in the sneaker industry.
Venita Cooper – Silhouette
Address: 10 N. Greenwood Ave, Suite C, Tulsa, OK 74133, USA (map) Website: silhouettetulsa.com Instagram: @silhouettetulsa
What sets Silhouette apart from other sneaker stores?
We try to support and elevate the community, the city. Our store is a love letter to this place. We carry local Black-owned apparel brands, feature local artists amplifying locally-relevant messages, partner with local vendors, host events that our community might find value in. We had a voter registration campaign, launched kids' streetwear designed by students at a local elementary school, paid rent for families at the end of the year, etc.
Silhouette is located on Tulsa’s Black Wall Street on the same spot as a shoe store that burned down during the 1921 Race Massacre. Why was it important for you to reclaim this location?
While Black-owned businesses exist all over the city now, no longer restricted by legal segregation, Black Wall Street is still an important symbol of entrepreneurial success for the Black community. I greatly value the opportunity to carry on that legacy of success with a business concept that I think would have existed if the community was allowed to evolve without racism and violence. Sneaker culture has its roots in Black culture.
What would you like to see brands do to better champion women and especially Black women?
Listen to women! And make cool stuff for them! Invest in them; use your incredible marketing tools to amplify their role in the culture. If you're putting money into communities, put that money toward issues that affect women and specifically Black women.
Abby Albino & Shelby Weaver – Makeway
Address: Stackt Market, 28 Bathurst St Unit 2-101, Toronto, Ontario, Canada (map) Website: shopmakeway.co Instagram: @makeway.co
What is Makeway doing to amplify women’s voices in the sneaker industry?
Makeway is and always will be a space for our community. Although it is owned by two women, we are not here to decide what women need. We are here to connect with our community and then provide products, programming, resources, a space, and brand connections based on their needs. Makeway doesn’t belong to us; it belongs to our community, and that will be the foundation for everything we do.
How can sneaker stores help raise the voices of those who have been historically disadvantaged in the industry?
The unfortunate part is those who have been historically disadvantaged in the industry are also mostly responsible for the mainstream popularity of sneaker culture. For example, Black culture is synonymous with sneaker culture, yet a huge portion of the people benefiting financially from the industry are white. And what about the launch of the Go Fly Ease — we’ve seen many consumers living with disabilities unable to purchase shoes that were literally made for them. Or women who can’t get their hands on female collabs or exclusives that were made for them because they’re being bought up by male resellers. Sneaker stores — us included — need to recognize and acknowledge these inequities and be a part of the solution, not the problem.
How can women-owned sneaker stores influence brands to better serve the women's community?
Brands have already identified women as a key priority for their businesses and that puts us at an advantage. They're looking to us to help them understand the consumer more and by being transparent with our needs, wants, and expectations, we can influence how they serve us. For example, instead of buying what they believe to be a key style or product for women, we challenge them and explain why we believe something will or will not work. We also know women are not just one size/style fits all, so we are requesting access to more than just women's products. We want access to it all.
Saskia van Hofwegen – Maha
Address: Vijzelstraat 129, 1017 HJ Amsterdam, Netherlands (map) Website: maha-amsterdam.com Instagram: @maha_amsterdam
What’s the most important thing you’ve learned while running a women’s sneaker store?
That it’s an ever-evolving market, where on the one hand you’ve got your own vision and on the other, there’s the consumer. The challenge is to always listen to your customers while staying true to your vision and be as authentic as possible.
Have you noticed any changes in the buying habits of women since you opened?
Yes, 100 percent. The women’s market has grown immensely since we opened our doors. There are so many new and different consumers buying sneakers and using sneakers as their main footwear type. When we started, girls lining up for shoes was considered crazy and only a handful of troopers knew the concept. Now there are multiple girls lining up almost on a weekly basis, as the girls now know that they have to be on time if they really want it.
How are expanded size runs impacting your store and its customers?
We don't have to shop at the kid's section anymore and we don't only have “pink it and shrink it” versions of the shoes we want. By focusing on product and having the biggest offering in these styles and sizes, our store and website have grown from a small city local supplier to be able to cater to female sneakerheads all over the world.
Murata Prajumas – Sole Finess
Address: 358a Smith Street, Collingwood, Melbourne, Victoria 3066, Australia (map) Website: solefiness.com Instagram: @solefiness
Australia is far removed from the sneaker and streetwear scenes of Europe and North America. How have you cultivated the local sneaker community?
Australian women’s love for sneakers and streetwear has been around just as long as anywhere else. Unfortunately, we haven’t had access to the same products as Europe and America, which has definitely set us back. Being the first women’s sneaker store here has come with its own challenges, but the support has been positive, which really reinforces the need for a strong women’s sneaker presence.
Do you think the emergence of dedicated women's sneaker stores has resulted in brands taking the women’s sneaker industry more seriously?
Absolutely, and it’s about time. Over the years, I’ve noticed a much wider selection of products offered to us and more accessibility to unisex sizing, which has always been one of the biggest barriers for a lot of women. It has come a long way and I only see things getting better for us.
What do you think the future holds for women in the sneaker industry?
I would hope for more creative control when designing sneakers for women and marketing sneakers to women. Historically, it has been a male-dominated space, but women need to be recognized for what they have already achieved and, given the opportunity, I think they will make an even greater impact going forward.
Lauren Amos – Wish
Address: 447 Moreland Avenue Atlanta, GA 30307, USA (map) Website: wishatl.com Instagram: @wishatl
What does Wish bring to the local sneaker community?
Wish ATL is the premier streetwear shop in Atlanta. Our customers travel far and wide to shop with us because we bring a level of authenticity to the community. Our clients include celebrities — entertainers, actors, athletes — but the majority of our clients are young, African-American men and women who live in Atlanta. Wish is known as a place where you can find the best product of local and international brands. We offer local talent an opportunity to use our platform to have their voices heard. We continually bring events, dialogue, ideas, and experiences to our local community. Wish is part of a dynamic and eclectic creative community called Little 5 Points, where people of all backgrounds converge.
How does Wish raise the voices of women in the industry?
We connect with other women in the industry as often as we can. As the founder, I have been privileged to mentor several young women. They have gone on to do great things in fashion and entertainment. We have hosted events focused on women, most recently the launch of Jordan women’s apparel. Wish has featured several women artists in our gallery space. We also support female-run institutions like Spelman College Museum of Fine Art who focus on female artists of the African diaspora. Being female-owned and run, it’s our natural desire to see the next generation of women step up and conquer.
How can women-owned sneaker stores influence brands to better serve the female community?
We must serve our customers well. We carry clothing, sneakers, and accessories for women and listen to what they want. We listen to their stories and use our voices/her voice when speaking to the brands we carry. We know the importance and necessity of her mark on this community. And being in Atlanta, we are overwhelmed by all of the amazing female talent surrounding us. We will continue to work with a diverse group of women designers and influencers ensuring our voice as women grows stronger.
Rio Holland & Bethany Haggarty – pam pam
Address: 129 Bethnal Green Road, London E2 7DG, UK (map) Website: pampamlondon.com Instagram: @pampamlondon
What made you decide to open a store and how difficult was it to establish yourselves?
There wasn't a place for women to shop a curated selection of sneakers alongside clothing and lifestyle in the UK. Since opening, we have found a real increase in what is available for women, particularly in sneakers. We actually came along just at the right time. Women’s sneakers were a major focus for all the major brands — they just didn't have a women's-specific door to place their top-tier product.
What improvements have you noticed for women sneakerheads since you opened your store?
It really has come a long way since our very first season in the spring of 2015. The major brands have been making it their mission to increase their women's business and we are definitely seeing the fruits of their labor. There is still a way to go as far as what colorways are available and releases just for women, but it's been so positive seeing the growth. To note: unisex product is also on the rise, which is excellent, too.
How do you think female representation and involvement in the sneaker industry will evolve over the coming years?
As brands continue to release bigger ranges for women, we hope to see more women-specific marketing campaigns and collaborations. One thing to remember is that sometimes the sneaker world can be drowned out by all the hype releases. There are plenty of women wearing sneakers, but if it's not hype, it sometimes feels like it goes unseen or doesn't count. So the more the brands shout about women's products, the more we'll all notice the strong female representation in the sneaker industry.
Stine L. Pedersen – Naked
Address: Klosterstraede 10, 1157 Copenhagen, Denmark (map); Store Torv 7, 8000 Aarhus, Denmark (map); Pilestræde 46, 1112 Copenhagen, Denmark (map) Website: nakedcph.com Instagram: @nakedcph
How do you keep your social media presence fresh when you’re catering to so many different types of women?
We tend to use pastel colors to invert the stereotype but keep our Instagram looking uniform. The aim is to steer clear of the super-dark, overly contrasted imagery that’s typically seen on male-focused accounts. We also have a franchise called "Friday Fit," where we reshare our customers’ posts.
You’ve expanded to three locations. Have you noticed any differences or similarities between customers in different areas?
The two stores in Copenhagen tend to get a more diverse array of visitors, mainly because they're situated in the city center. Teenage girls are probably our most loyal store customers across all three locations, so we’ve tried to create an ambiance that suits them, from the oversized mirrors to the floors coated in signature naked pink.

20 Questions with Dr Ferox #17
Time for another post of 20 questions and comments I’ve been asked recently. I’m not sure how well the tagging system is working at the moment, so if you’re waiting for a question to be answered I’d recommend checking manually.
@Its-janeway-or-the-highway said: For other useful bits of strine see also: Spitting the biscuit: throwing a tantrum out of sheer frustration, Bitzer: a dog that is of mixed, unknown origin (bits of this, bits of that), blood worth bottling: someone who is such an excellent individual their blood is worth bottling, such as Dr Ferox. I think your Aussie followers could have a field day with this subject.
We probably could, but the lingo also varies from state to state. For example, I didn't know for the longest time that 'Freckle' is also slang for 'anus', which gives a whole new meaning to “wouldn't give a fat rat's freckle” (means I couldn't care less)
Anonymous said: Guinea pigs or Hamsters? Which one is your fav?
I have been asked about hamsters several times, so I say it again. Never seen one. They're not available as pets in Australia.
Anonymous said: Can you tell us more about the issue of cropping and docking dogs ears and tails? Or if you know some good sites to read up on this info, where I might be able to read more about it? Thank you!
We're talked about it before on this blog. There's a handy dandy search function you can use as there's lots of posts that are worth a read, including those tagged with docking and cropping.
Anonymous said: As a Brit, and largely thanks to our celebrity chefs who like to advocate for ethical and sustainable meat-eating practices, I know that our welfare standards for veal calves are better than Europe at large, and also that, thanks to that preconceived notion of milk fed calves locked in a tiny crate, Brits are too horrified to eat veal at all. I wish people knew properly sourced British veal was much more ethical than exporting or simply shooting a male calf at birth :/ I'd support it if I could!
In Australia, a 'veal calf' is just a steer that hasn't been weaned yet, usually 200+kg, so is still being fed by its mother. Then they have one very bad day where they're 'weaned' and slaughtered on the same day, which isn't all that much worse than regular beef, in context.
Anonymous said: My cat passed away from kidney failure earlier this year. He'd been diagnosed very young but last year the vet decided to give him an ultrasound because he was curious and found out that his kidneys were terribly misshapen. He believed they had been like that since birth, and that his kidney function had always been compromised. I decided to cremate his remains, but now I am thinking that over again. Is it weird to tell a vet that they can keep organs as a teaching specimen if they want to?
Yes it's weird, but it's also very welcome if that vet has any connections with a university or teaches students. After death arrangements are a highly personal choice, and I wouldn't judge anyone for the choices they make. Keeping organs as specimens is a difficult conversation for a clinician to have.
Anonymous said: QT: came for mythical animals, stayed for the stories. Question: my dog will sometimes get his ear (not very long, and soft/semi-floppy) flipped/stuck inside out when he rolls around on the sofa cushions (which he loves to do). I flip them back by petting along the ear (it's super easy and there's no resistance, physical or behavioral) but I'm curious: does it hurt? It looks like it should. He doesn't seem to mind, but I don't know if that's just because he knows he can't fix it without help.
It probably causes no pain at all. And I dare say he could flip them back himself by shaking his head, most dogs can.
Anonymous said: What's your opinion on heated cat beds? Worth it if it's an older arthritic cat? Useless? Just curious. Also, Question Tax: Came here for the stories, stayed because I'm an aspiring avian vet.
Cats certainly enjoy them in the colder weather. I don't really like leaving the electrical ones with cords on while they're unsupervised, in case they get chewed or urinated on, and personally prefer the microwavable ones for that purpose. Care should be taken with cats that have mobility concerns to ensure they don't overheat.
Anonymous said: What is your opinion on cats eating bugs? If there is a fly in the house or a silverfish, basically anything non-threatening I can identify, I let my cats get it. However I am increasingly worried about spiders since I can't really identify them beyond daddy long legs and black widows (the only deadly type in my area) and even not so dangerous ones can have pretty painful bites. For the tax: what dinosaur would you have most liked to be a vet for?
Good luck trying to stop them from eating the bugs. I haven't figured out how to stop my boys from eating any bugs they catch.
@bighugmug said: Those capsule backpacks for cats are cute, but they look quite confined! Is there a vet opinion on how comfortable these are for kitty?
I don't know, and it probably depends on the cat. Cat's are not that bothered by being confined in transport, most cats like a box, and they tend to like a good vantage point to survey their surrounds, but it's not a carrier I see a lot of and I imagine would take some getting used to.
Anonymous said: If an animal is overstimulated and/or overly energetic, are they self-aware enough to try and calm themselves down?
Probably not.
Anonymous said: QT: I was actually sent one of your posts on euthanasia by a friend just after I'd had to put my 16yr old cat down & it really helped, so I followed! Anyway: my (~3yr old, 50lb, unknown mix breed) dog is friendly but cries literally continuously at the vet (& ONLY there), to the point that they told us they had to give him a treat to distract him long enough for them to hear his heart beat. How big a problem is something like this? Any stress reduction techniques you'd recommend?
Sounds like positive reinforcement with treats is probably the way to go. Short, consistent training sessions of 'happy vet visits' that allow your dog to associate the vet clinic with wonderful treats should make him feel more positive about the experience.
Anonymous said: feel free not to get to this for a while! i know your inbox must be bursting. i'm just wondering how preventable you think a urinary blockage in male cats is? mine doesn't have one but for some reason i am SUPER PARANOID about him getting one and i wanna do everything in my power to prevent it
I'm super paranoid about it too. Spending Friday night trying to catheterize a tiny, slippery cat penis is not my idea of fun, especially if it ends up being my own cat. Keeping them active and at a healthy weight is the single most important thing you can do to reduce their risk.
Anonymous said: I really hate to bother you, but I was wondering if tumors in a dog's anal glands is very serious. I recently took my dog to the vet for an unrelated reason and she told me that when she went to express his glands, she wasn't able to express anything and the glands felt very hard. She believes that it's either due to scaring or a tumor. If it is a tumor, the surgery is too expensive for me to ever afford. Will my dog be in pain without surgery? Could this be life threatening?
Unfortunately anal gland tumors usually are life threatening, and usually diagnosed too late to prevent spreading to the sublumbar lymph nodes. Malignant anal gland tumors will eventually make the dog sick, and as they grow they may prevent the dog from being able to defecate. You should discuss this with your vet.
Anonymous said: What are your thoughts on when to spay a bitch? We had a German Shepherd who passed away last year of hemangiosarcoma. We always wonder if this cancer was accelerated by the fact she was taking oestrogen- due to being incontinent- which we wondered about being caused by her spay. She was spayed at 4/5months old. I just wondered if you could sum up the possible implications of a spay pre and post the first oestrus, particularly for German Shepherds, but really all dogs. Thank you!
She probably did not develop the haemangiosarcoma (HSarc) from taking oestrogen. She probably developed it because she is a German Shepherd and it's one of the things that they very commonly do. Desexing does increase the risk of certain rarer cancers like HSarc and lymphoma, but not desexing drastically increases the risk of mammary cancer and pyometra. If hip dysplasia is not an issue, I'd consider desexing between 9 and 18 months for a female large breed dog. I am still very pro desexing.
Delayed desexing has also been discussed here.
@animaljunkie said: I'm an American vet student who is seriously considering practicing in either Australia or Ireland. Would you have any advice on career choices or practicing outside your home country?
I've never practiced outside Australia, but I would check what the requirements are for your employment with the national or state vet registration board for your country of choice, and it's probably wise to chat to other expats before committing to that idea.
Anonymous said: Hi Dr. Ferox! My roommate keeps buying her cats different types of food, and I was wondering is this could be harmful to them? The brand stays consistent, but she tends to buy whichever type (senior, weight management, indoor, etc.) is on sale. The cats are ~1 year and 5 years. And she doesn't do the 'wean off one food and onto another' thing. (Question tax: I hc that you -all vets really- look at animals with a mix of "you're so adorable" and "so many things could go wrong with you") Thanks!
If it hasn't caused an issue yet, it probably wont. Most issues from sudden food changes are vomiting or diarrhoea, and I'm sure you'd notice if it was an issue. Some animals have tougher stomachs than others, some are exquisitely sensitive and can only stomach one flavour of one food without gastroenteritis.
And yes, there are so, so many things that can go wrong with every singe animal. When you're trained as a hammer it's hard not to see everything as a nail.
@2goldensnitches said: Doc, we've recently acquired a kitten. Sometimes he knows how to use the litterbox, sometimes he wants to eat the sand. Why?
The whole world is a toybox to a kitten. It's most likely just learning and playing, but I can't guarantee it doesn't have some sort of pica and you should check with your vet.
Anonymous said: What kind of information should a vet be expected to know before I consider seeking help elsewhere? I recently had an avian vet do a house call for some birds, and he seemed knowledgeable. He was detailed and came up with a treatment plan that suggested he knew what he was talking about. Then he said, "Nothing's using the lower part of the aviary. You could put some reptiles in here." Is that a huge red flag? It seemed very wrong to me, but maybe that sort of thing isn't in a vet's wheelhouse?
It might not be part of that vet's knowledge base, though it seems a really odd thing to say. I can't imagine what they were thinking. If you're satisfied with the treatment of your birds then don't feel like you have to change vets, unless you want to of course.
@knikna said:Non-vet question for a bit of fun! If you had the Doctor's Tardis and could travel anywhere in space and time in this universe, where would you go first?
I would chose to go see a Thylacine. Past or future, I don't care. That way I'm unlikely to stuff up any kind of time-space continuum, and my own microflora wont cause any sort of massacre.
Anonymous said: Hi I just wanted to let you know I've been laughing at the fact your cat's name is trash bag for about an hour. I hope you and trash bag have a wonderful day
See, I knew it was a funny name.
Trash Bag has recently learned about the whole new world under the blankets, and how wonderfully warm they are for snuggles.

Easy-To-Follow Tips For Maintaining Proper Fitness Plans
A lot of people will know that it is natural to be healthy, some have to work at it. These tips can help anyone get the info they need to start out on a fitness journey. You may wish to consider scheduling a few sessions with a trusted personal trainer if you are unaccustomed to a regular workout routine. Once your trainer determines your problem areas he will combine them with your goals to create a specialized workout program. A gym environment can be overwhelming for a beginner and professional will show you how to navigate it. This will help you get a great start on your workout plan. Are you short on time and think you cannot fit in a workout? Do two shorter workouts instead of one long one. You don't need to work out longer, simply split the time in half. Instead of jogging for an hour, jog on 2 separate occasions for 30 minutes during the day. If you do not want to visit the gym two times in a day, do one of the workouts at home. Maximize your results by varying your workout activities. Someone who usually uses an indoor exercise bike can bike around on the streets in their neighborhood. Running up a hilly sidewalk will result in different muscles being used and challenged. By varying exercises, the body is not permitted to get used to a certain exercise, and this encourages weight loss to continue. Use an array of different exercises to keep from getting into a workout rut. This prevents your workout routine from becoming boring, which is one of leading causes of falling off the workout wagon. Also, it's important to switch exercises to get more muscle groups involved to get the maximum benefits from working out. Keep a detailed, daily journal of what you do. This includes every exercise, what you eat, and even what you drink. You should even jot down the weather you had that day. You'll be able to remember the things that work clearly when you write down every detail. If you had to put off exercising a little while, note why. Personal trainers are often a valuable thing for those truly committed to raising their fitness. A personal trainer will teach you new exercises, help you develop a program that is adapted to your current level and help you stay motivated. Personal trainers make a large impact when it comes to improving your fitness level. Treadmills may be more preferred by people, though running outside is a much better work out. Treadmills are great to use when the weather doesn't allow outdoor exercise, but there is nothing quite like running on pavement. Endless crunches are not a way for you to obtain a six pack. When you work your abdomen, you strengthen and tone these muscles, but you will not burn belly fat. If you are seeking a six pack of ab muscles, you have to cut down your overall body fat levels with dietary improvements and lots of cardio, on top of your weight lifting. When it comes to weightlifting, doing a number of repetitions using lighter weights serves to give you greater muscle mass than doing fewer repetitions using heavier weights. Building muscle mass is more about endurance than the ability to lift more weight. Many people are known to use this method and it works. You are certain to get something from the information in this article, whether you are a beginner or someone very familiar with fitness. Try to squeeze these tips into your workout routine. If you set aside time for fitness, you will enjoy the benefits for the rest of your life.

The Growing Options For Establishing Major Aspects For Canada
Catharines, Ont., for the 2013-14 school year. When the consent agreement ended, he sued in the Ontario Superior Court of Justice under a 1980 international agreement known as the Hague Convention on child abduction to have the children returned. By the time it reached the Supreme Court, the case had been resolved in a roller-coaster two-year process. The trial judge said the children had to be returned to Germany. On appeal by the mother, Ontario’s Divisional Court threw out the ruling, saying the children had become integrated into their new community. The father appealed, and the Ontario Court of Appeal restored the original ruling, saying a child’s habitual residence does not change when a parent gives consent to a time-limited stay in another country. The mother then returned with the children to Germany, obtained custody and brought them back to Canada. The Supreme Court said the issues were important enough to address even though the dispute was settled. Written by the now-retired chief justice Beverley McLachlin (judges have six months after retirement to complete the cases on which they sat), the ruling sets out a new approach for Canadian courts applying the Hague Convention. (Canada is one of about 90 signatories.) The convention sets out the terms for returning children to the country of their “habitual residence.” Until now, previous parental intention on what the home country is usually, with some exceptions, would settle the matter. But the Supreme Court majority said that approach is out of line with an international trend in the European Union, Australia, New Zealand and parts of the United States. That approach focuses neither on parental intention nor children’s wishes, but on a hybrid of those two, plus other factors, such as whether children have settled into their new community.

Read This To Learn All About Vitamins And Minerals
It is critical to eat healthy foods, and you must be aware of the vitamins and minerals you need to maintain your health. If you want to live a healthy life, this article has tips that you need to know about minerals and vitamins. Don't stop and keep learning. If you're working out regularly, you need to be taking vitamins. When you add minerals and vitamins to your diet, your body will recover faster, build muscle faster and burn more fat. Do you want strong bones? One of the best ways for you to have good bone health is to make sure you have enough calcium in your diet. However, if your body is to actually absorb any calcium, it needs vitamin D as well. Sunlight is a great form of vitamin D. Any of these help your body absorb calcium. If you take a supplement that contains fat, they are taken with food. Take them at mealtimes. Vitamins K, A and E are among those vitamins that need to be taken with food. It's important to note that vitamins will work better if you are eating a healthy diet that includes a little fat. Milk and sunlight are among the most effective sources of vitamin D. If you don't go in the sun much or don't drink much milk, think about a vitamin D supplement. This will keep your bones strong. Vitamin B2 is an important part of your daily diet, and you can get this essential vitamin by eating bananas, dairy products, popcorn, green beans and more. Vitamin B2 deficiency can lead to a variety of conditions, including cracked lips, scaly skin, and a reduction in red blood cells. Taking riboflavin can prevent anemia, cataracts, carpal tunnel syndrome, and even cancer. There is no point in using prenatal vitamins if past menopause. Many women choose to take the vitamins for their hair or nails. This is usually safe, but not wise for women that have already been through menopause since it contains more iron than they need. Veggies and fruits (especially citrus) contain quite a bit of vitamin C. Supplements are perfect for those who do not receive the recommended daily allowance in their food. Vitamin C can help with Whey Protein skin infections, stomach ulcers, acne, colds, and gum disease. It can also help anyone who has ADHD, Alzheimer's disease, and dementia. If you want to use gummy vitamins meant for children as an adult, take several of them. Adults need to take more vitamins than kids, so when you take one it won't be enough. Be cautious because you shouldn't take too many, either. When money is tight it is easy to save money by eating cheap, processed foods that are low in vitamins and minerals. Make sure you take the right vitamins each day to feel better, and ward off any potential colds while keeping your body in optimum health. As you can now see, it is essential that you get enough vitamins and minerals. Stick with what you learned here to start feeling better soon. Share these ideas with loved ones so that they can better their health, too.

BBC may need to check their sources. Min wage is now $22.86 for casual employees and has been since 1st July 2017. This is nothing new and it’s not just backpackers being ripped off. Many other employees around the country don’t get paid correctly as per awards etc. please go somewhere else to start a heated debate on racial inequality. You want the Christmas It’s The Most Wonderful Time For A Beer Sweater year visa but nobody is hiring unless you work 60hrs for 40hrs pay.

If they’re investigating wage theft, it may also be a good idea to investigate the grotesquely enormous salaries of CEOs. Australia without backpackers will be such a boring country as it was for the last 100 years. Nanny state where most of the people never left the country and they don’t know lifes outside of it. Keep your country there and stay isolated as usual, could be better for everyone. To be fair though it’s that big they don’t really need to leave.

When employees become too ‘expensive’ then employers/big business will encourage their governments to supply cheaper labour from whatever source. In the UK we’ve been getting cheaper labour from Eastern Europe for years now…cheaper for big business…but expensive for society in general. It’s all about the mandatory farm work for 2nd year visa. Girls get it worse IMO as they get made to do 14hr shifts packing when at least guys can get outside & move around a bit.

A lot of backpackers see it as ‘a bit of extra cash’ while traveling (its $11 more than they were expecting to get)! Plus, many backpackers purposely head out to farms so that their visas can be renewed. It’s never good to pay a single mother of 5 below minimum wage. That is definitely an issue. However, paying a holidaying backpacker a bit of extra cash that they would not have otherwise been paid during their holiday is a completely different matter, which should be settled in private.
Christmas Wonderful Time Beer Tank Top
I’ve travelled my whole life. And, if there were a couple of spare days in which someone asked me to work for less than $10 an hour, I would have done it, without question or hesitation – what a fun thing to do to meet people and gain a cool experience, when I would otherwise earn nothing (and pay some) to see another museum. You don’t think foreign imports, working at half the minimum wage, has an impact on the labour market.
Christmas Wonderful Time Beer Longsleeve Tee
We know what is going on and has been for ages!! And still nothing done !!!to stop exploitation of backpackers et al. Whistler in Canada has the Christmas It’s The Most Wonderful Time For A Beer Sweater problem with Aussie imports driving wages way down and rental accommodation prices way up. Many many many backpackers are completely aware of the low wages and do it anyway. As in, they make conscious, informed decisions to work for $11 an hour. Hold on a moment.

The System of Systems: technology and bureaucracy in the asylum seeking process in Europe
Back in May, i went to Athens on a whim. Of course, Greece has the most fabulous food on the old continent, firemen on motorbikes, soldiers wearing pompom shoes, and jaw-dropping architecture. But I also wanted to see The System of Systems, a group show that explored how political powers are using technologies in bureaucratic systems to determine the fate of asylum seekers in Europe.
What better place than Greece to discuss this topic? Not only has the country developed an intimate experience of the EU brutal bureaucracy since the early days of the financial crisis, it is now also attempting to aid the thousands asylum seekers and refugees who have reached its frontiers in the hope of finding a better life in European countries. Unfortunately, like other member states on the EU’s external borders, Greece is receiving insufficient signs of solidarity from the EU.

Danae Papazymouri & Rebecca Glyn-Blanco, And if the asylum seeker does not wish to participate in the interview? Exhibition view of The System of Systems at GRACE in Athens
The System of Systems looks at asylum seeking in Europe under a broader perspective. It is not only an exhibition but also a book and a series of events that aim to raise a better informed debate around the legal framework of asylum seeking in Europe, asking questions such as:
What policies are we voting for as citizens of European countries, and what is our relationship to this issue? How does the asylum system illegalise people? How are technologies used as processes of making and discrediting evidence?
The System of Systems ironically takes its title from an informal term used to describe EUROSUR, a division within border management agency Frontex. This subsection is an ‘information exchange framework’ and ‘surveillance system’ that operates on behalf of the EU. The process of seeking asylum is thus a ‘system’ composed of many ‘systems’. The rather clinical description suggests a number of rules and control apparatus but it also hides a series of complex and often harsh control mechanisms.
The System of Systems exhibition dissected the strategies used by the EU to ‘process’ and restrict the movements of people who don’t have the ‘adequate’ documents. It also examined the stratagems deployed by migrants to counter EU bureaucracy and enter “Fortress Europe.”
The show in Athens closed a few weeks ago. Other events are planned but in the meantime, i’d really recommend that you check out the publication of the project. Just like the exhibition, the book goes beyond the facts and stats you can read in the press and offers a more compassionate perspective on the asylum seeking process.
Here’s a quick tour of some of the works exhibited in Athens:

Since 2001, immigration authorities in Australia, New Zealand, as well as several European countries have been using forensic speech analysis to determine the validity of asylum claims made by thousands of people without identity documents.
While applicants are interviewed, their language, dialect or accent are scrutinized by language experts who then assess whether or not the way the applicant speaks matches the one used in the region they claim to come from.
Forensic speech analysis is far from being fail-proof, however. This can have disastrous consequences for the fate of asylum seekers whose application has been unjustly rejected.
In 2012, artist Lawrence Abu Hamdan worked with linguists, artists, researchers, activists and twelve asylum seekers whose applications had been rejected following a language assessment. Together they discussed how to raise awareness around the limits of forensic language and worked with graphic designer Janna Ullrich to create a series of maps that expose the realities of this technology. The maps demonstrate that a spoken language is not a static entity but an hybrid, living organism that quietly evolves with changing social conditions, with age or under the influence of crisis and displacements.
The maps have been exhibited in galleries and refugee organizations, but they have also been presented to a judge working within the Dutch immigration authority. The research was also submitted at a deportation hearing before the UK Asylum tribunal.

Your documents don’t determine who you are—but they certainly have a lot to say about where you can go.
Eugenio Grosso photographed the papers left behind by those making their way through Europe in the hope of a better life. The photos were taken shortly before the controversial EU-Turkey deal which now allows Greece to return to Turkey “all new irregular migrants”.
Before the agreement, refugees allowed to enter Macedonia from Greece had to pass by a track that leads to the small town of Gevgelija. The path, a limbo between Greek bureaucracy and Macedonian bureaucracy, was where migrants tore apart and discarded the documents temporarily issued by Greece. Knowing their nationality could determine whether they would be allowed to continue their journey freely or be sent back or incarcerated, these men and women chose to leave part of who they were behind them. Each time they entered a new country, their identities had to be confirmed again and again.

A Rough History reveals other sacrifices that migrants are ready to make in order to be able to enter the EU. Ayesha Hameed‘s film essay and performance explores how some of them are cutting or burning their fingerprints to avoid being identified by the EU’s fingerprint database, Eurodac.

The Colnbrook Immigration Removal Centre was built as a prison. Yet none of the 380 detainees held there is serving a prison sentence. Most don’t even know when they will be released. Like other thousands of people locked in similar centers, they can be detained for months, even years. UK doesn’t accept them and the country they come from doesn’t recognize them. They can’t leave nor go, they live in a state of limbo.
During 2 years, Nana Varveropoulou worked with asylum seekers detained in Colnbrook IRC. She invited them to participate to photography workshops, gave them cameras and soon they started recording their life in the centre. In parallel, she produced her own photographs. Together, the detainees and the artist created ‘outsider’s’ and ‘insider’s’ perspectives of indefinite immigration detention.

Photographer Melanie Friend spent four years documenting what the UK calls the ‘Immigration Removal Centres’ (IRC.)
She interviewed detainees, portrayed some of them and photographed the interiors and exteriors of eight centers. At least the parts she was allowed to photograph.
The recordings of the interviews are particularly moving. We hear the voices of people who have no home nor belonging, are separated from their family and find themselves in a system they don’t fully comprehend. Some of them have been detained for months, waiting for deportation or asylum. Through they stories you get a sense of who they are, what they tried to escape, what they dream of and the psychological and emotional impact that life in this type of prison-like institutions has on them.
The photos only confirm the sense of confinement and alienation they have to face day after day for indeterminate periods of time: the high fences, the barbed wires, bright lights, security cameras, bleak rooms, lack of privacy, bars on the window, etc. Together, recordings and photos challenge the dominant representations of asylum seekers and migrants as ‘others’.

James Bridle discussing Seamless Transitions at the opening of The System of Systems
It is illegal to photograph the detention centres, closed courts, lounges and private jets Britain uses to deport people. But James Bridle found a way around the restrictions. His work Seamless Transitions focuses on 3 key elements of the UK immigration system: a courtroom, a detention centre and an airport.
Field House in the City of London is the home of the Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC), Harmondsworth IRC is a detention center near Heathrow Airport Heathrow and the Inflite Jet Centre is a luxury terminal at Stansted airport where businessmen check in for their private jets by day and deportation flights depart at night.
Since he had limited to no access to these spaces, Bridle had to acquire planning documents and satellite photos, interview academics and activists, and read accounts from eyewitnesses. He then worked with digital imaging studio Picture Plane to recreate the places as 3D computer models.
The film walks us through sanitized and empty environments. The work helps us visualize a reality that remains hidden. And while the images can’t convey the smell, the stress and despair these walls witness on a daily basis, they speak volumes of the lack of humanity and compassion of our immigration systems.
It’s about the unaccountability and ungraspability of vast, complex systems: of nation-wide architectures, accumulations of laws and legal processes, infrastructures of intent and prejudice, and structural inequalities of experience and understanding. Through journalistic investigation, academic research, artistic impression, and, I believe, the confluence of these approaches with new technologies, there is an opportunity to see, describe, and communicate the world in ways which have not been possible before, Bridle writes
