Help a Disabled Trans Man Repair His House

Back in 2020, my sister and I bought a cheap house through a first-time homebuyers grant in Pontiac, MI. I'm so glad we got to do this because our previous living situation was untenable and difficult due to my physical disabilities. Ever since moving in, we've been slowly working to improve the house, because the previous owner took a lot of shortcuts that we've had to spend time and money on fixing.

Some of these have included:

Replacing a broken bathroom window, which used to let in freezing air in the winter and had clear instead of frosted glass.

Replacing all the external doors, which were falling apart and very drafty.

Replacing the roof, which previously leaked and was structurally unsound.

Unfortunately, there is still loads that needs to be done just to make it livable, and while my sister works fulltime, I am visually impaired, physically disabled, and unable to work, so our income is very limited.

Some of the work that still needs doing includes:

Renovating the entire bathroom to make it accessible, to reduce the risk of falls and make it so I can use a shower seat.

Replacing the floors because the loose boards are a constant trip hazard.

Blowing insulation into the loft, so the house is better at retaining heat during the winter and we can reduce our energy bills.

Any money you can donate will seriously improve our living conditions and help ensure a safer, healthier future for the both of us

Gordon's car was my favorite. Alyx also had a Tsuru and a mustang 🐎

But I can't seem to find a reason of why would they drive cars so I think it's now some kind of partial Racing AU 🫶

“After school pick up”

Tyler: GJ? Why doesn’t your dad ever pick us up?

Koda: mom either

Ruthie: Wednesday? Or Auntie Eenie?

GomezJr: our dad is a lawyer so he’s usually always busy. Mom has other clients other than Auntie Weenie

Little Wednesday: Auntie Weenie and Lurch won’t let Auntie Eenie drive the family cars. Auntie Weenie is the same with her car. Mom and dad drive their cars when they not home

Koda: do Auntie Eenie have car?

Little Wednesday: -chuckling- she does. It is in the shop a lot. Mr Lurch says she is not a good driver, not to get face. He says the older cars are picky and temperamental.

Dayton: -running up to the misfits- Hey! My dad called. He said I’m going to be picked up with you guys!! And I can have after school snacks and dinner too!

GomezJr: what about your mom?

Koda: she always ruin everything

Ruthie: yeah. What about your mom, Dayton?

Dayton: she left on a May Kay retreat with her local group. She is going to be gone all weekend. My dad thought I might have fun hanging out with you guys after school instead of picking me up.

Little Wednesday: that is awesome!

They heard a murmur from the other students waiting and gasping from the adult supervisors and parents as a modified black 1938 Pontiac hearse pulled up into the pickup area. GomezJr and Little Wednesday started laughing. It stopped in front of them. The tall, shambling, gloomy driver stepped out and walked around to the passenger’s side door and opened it. GomezJr and Little Wednesday’s Aunt Wednesday got out

Wednesday: Greetings, Misfits. Ready to go?

Little Wednesday: Mr Lurch! -she squealed- giving him a quick hug-

Lurch: -deep groan-

Dayton: I-i-is th-that a hearse?

Wednesday: modified. It is no longer equipped to carry caskets. When your father called asking if you could be picked up and hang out with the gang I thought you might enjoy riding in The Addams Family car not my Escalade

Lurch opened the back door.

Dayton: -smiling- my mom is gonna flip out when she hears about this!!

Koda: come. Get in.

The misfits all climbed into the back of the hearse. Jack was secured as well. Wednesday got into the passenger seat Lurch the driver’s seat. And they drove off

Wednesday: what would you like to do before we drop everyone off? Ruthie, your parents are coming over for dinner. Dayton, you will be having dinner with us. You may text your father. He is more than welcome to join us

Dayton: okay!

Tyler: hey! Came we go to Bounce Town?

Little Wednesday: Mr Lurch might be very awkward

Lurch: -grumbles-

GomezJr: Ha! Okay. Tyler, can adults jump too?

Tyler: yes! There is an area for grownups

Ruthie: I hope that one worker who hates Jack isn’t working.

Wednesday: Wednesday, you stay close to Ruthie and watch out for her. I will sit with Jack while you are jumping

Little Wednesday: I will, Auntie Weenie

Dayton: Oh wow! I’ve always wanted to go to Bounce Town!

Koda: You never been?

Dayton: no. Aiyon’s mom convinced my mom of how germ filled and dangerous it is. All the kids jumping touching everything

Koda: bet Aiyon pee in bath water

Everyone laughed. Wednesday was not scolding them. She could not stand Aiyon’s mother Alys.

1977 Pontiac Grand Am

The 1977 Can Am was an appearance option on a 1977 LeMans. The styling of the Can Am was inspired by the red/white/blue 1974 Pontiac Grand Am All-American show car. Ordering a Can Am required the dealer to order an F37 LeMans Sport Coupe (louvered rear quarter windows) in Cameo White. The dealer wrote code WW3 (Can Am) on the back side of the order form, and a LeMans Sport Coupe would be built with the following equipment;

T/A 6.6 Pontiac 400 engine (Oldsmobile 403 6.6 Litre was used in high altitude areas and California), power front disc brakes, power steering, Turbo Hydra-matic trans, Rally RTS Handling Package, Grand Prix instrument cluster, GR70x15 radials, white Rally II wheels, body colored outside mirrors, and blacked out grilles. All Can Ams were built at the home plant in Pontiac, MI. Completed cars would be shipped over to Motortown Corporation for conversion into a Can Am. Once there the hood was modified to accept a shaker hood scoop, a rear spoiler was added, multi-colored stripes and black lower body tape were applied along with Can Am decals. The process took approximately 72 hours. Completed Can Ams were then shipped from Motortown back to the Pontiac assembly plant and inserted into the regular distribution system for delivery.

Only 1,377 1977 Can Ams were produced.

It's my last Tumblr post for 2023, the year that saw the release of an Elvis biopic by Buz Luhrmann. Tom Hanks received some criticism along the way for his portrayal of Parker, with everything from his prosthetic makeup to his accent being singled out. As the year ends, lets take a look at some of the pictures I've collected of the real "Thomas Andrew Parker" during his years with Elvis.

Elvis and Parker at an RCA-Paramount Pictures party at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Los Angeles on 18th May 1957.

Two pictures from December 21, 1957, when Elvis went to Parker's home (1215 Gallatin Road in South Madison, Tennessee) to deliver a Christmas present - a new BMW Isetta microcar.

It’s 9:15am at Fort Dix, NJ on 5th March 1960 and Elvis is being honorably discharged from the Army.  As he collects his mustering out cheque for $109.54 he kids with the Colonel about his percentage.  In later years that would be far from a laughing matter.

Parker shows his sense of humour during the filming Roustabout in 1964 when a birthday party is held for Elvis’ cousin, Billy Smith.

On the NBC set in Los Angeles, Elvis sung a birthday song ‘It Hurts Me’ (in an amusing parody) for the Colonel, 26 June 1968.

Two pictures of Parker and Elvis at the August 1, 1969 press conference in Las Vegas announcing Elvis' new residency at the International Hotel (the Hilton as of 1972).

In this candid shot, we see Parker in a hotel elevator while on tour in Mobile Alabama in 1971 with one of his constant business companions, longtime RCA Records executive George L. Parkhill (centre in yellow shirt).  Parkhill’s main task was "working with Elvis." That basically meant he supervised Elvis' concert tours and, when Elvis was in Los Angeles, monitoring all activities that involved him being RCA's top money maker.

Parker once again staying close to this star client below the stage at the evening appearance at Madison Square Garden on June 9, 1972.

Perhaps the last time Parker and Elvis were photographed together was in the dressing room just before the new years eve concert in Pontiac, MI, on December 31, 1975. At the time Parker had allowed a visit by local mayor Wallace E. Holland and Oakland press writer Jackie Kallen who presented an award.
