US News
A Florida school had a 6-year-old arrested and charged for kicking someone. The girl was handcuffed, taken to a juvenile facility, fingerprinted, and had a mugshot taken before being released. [Link]
Trump holds a rally with Indian leader Modi. [Link]
Twitter adds a new ‘hide replies’ function allowing users to hide replies to Tweets they do not want people to see. Caitlin Johnstone explains why this is in support of the establishment. [Link]
Ukraine
The FBI arrested a US soldier for sharing bomb-making information with white supremacists in Ukraine. The soldier was supporting the Azov Battalion, which also is supported by the US government. [Link]
Trump said he would continue to withhold money from Ukraine. Trump feels European countries should provide more of the aid. [Link]
Trump releases the transcript of his call with Ukrainian leader Zelensky. The transcript does not show the alleged quid pro quo with Ukraine to dig up dirt on Hunter Biden in exchange for Trump releasing aid. [Link]
Korean Peace
Trump met with South Korean leader Moon Jae-in to discuss North Korea. Trump said he is open to another summit with Kim Jong-un but wants to know what could come of the summit first. Trump and Moon reaffirmed an agreement not to attack North Korea. Trump said that North Korean short-range missile tests do not violate the freeze for freeze agreement. [Link]
South Korea’s president calls for turning the DMZ into a peace zone. [Link]
Middle East
Afghan officials report a US/Afghan government raid on a Taliban location killed at least 40 civilians attending a wedding nearby. [Link]
Israel’s president suggests the Likud party and the Blue and White party form a unity government. The Arab parties suggest the president allow the Blue and White party to be allowed an attempt to form a government. The Arab parties did not say they would join a Blue and White led coalition. [Link] Israel’s president gives Netanyahu the first chance to form a government.* CENTCOM commander Gen. McKenzie says that Iran is a near-peer competitor to the US. Daniel Larison explains that McKenzie is inflating Iran’s abilities. [Link]
The Department of Defense has not made a definitive statement that Iran is behind the attack on Saudi oil. Secretary of State Pompeo has claimed Iran is behind the attack. [Link]
The US-made Patriot missile defense systems do not work well. Moon of Alabama explains why they will continue to fail to defend Saudi Arabia from attacks by the Houthi. [Link]
Saudi Arabia has executed at least 134 people so far in 2019. At least six of those executed were under 18 when they committed the alleged crime that led to their execution. Some of the executed confessed to their crimes under torture. Several of the executed were convicted of spreading Shi’ism and others for minor drug crimes. The executions have been public beheading and crucifixion. In some cases, the bodies have been displayed. [Link]
Two rockets are fired into the Green Zone in Baghdad. The rockets did not cause damage or injuries. [Link]
The Saudi coalition kills at least 17 people in Yemen with airstrikes. [Link]
