fr tho one criticism of Cats that always tickles me is the specific brand of 'its so weird/horny/unsettling/goofy' that implies the critic in question thinks Cats is like that on accident. like i hate to break it to you but the song where they all speak in sync while creepy carnival-esque music plays is intended to unsettle. the abrupt transition from depressing bittersweet songs to high-energy bops is intended to give you whiplash. the rapidfire slinging of random terms that dont make sense is intended to throw you off. the unusually h‌orny undertones are supposed to be, well, unusually h‌orny. why? because
they are cats bro
if the tone/presentation/events seem strange and inhuman its because the cast of characters are, in fact, not human. like,,, Cats presents to its audience a fantastical snapshot of a kind of life that belongs to an animal on the outskirts of human society: a life of violence and community and s‌ex and ritual and utter senselessness, and then people who see it will unironically go 'wow wtf why does this piece of media lie so far outside of my scope of normality. lol 🤣'

Hollow Knight phone wallpapers!!!
As you may know already, I've had these improvised Hollow Knight wallpapers up for grabs on my ko-fi in hopes to raise some funds for (now two) families in Gaza!
These are still ongoing BUT I want to shift the main way you can get these from me:
If you directly donate to the fundraiser and send me a screenshot proof via DMs on either of my blogs, I will send you wallpapers via email provided by you!
The ko-fi option is still available but to reduce the loss from fee costs between the purchase and me directly sending the donation, I prefer if you send the proof instead. It also helps with privacy, if you're iffy about paypal using your real/dead names, direct donations can be selected to be fully anonymous!
This is a fundraiser for TWO families who merged into a single fundraiser, Iyad's and Ruba's families so ANY help will come a long way and as I stated before, saying this is urgent is an understatement!! They are both vetted on the list (#90 and #173).
DIRECT DONATION IS HERE:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
MORE INFO ABOUT THE FAMILY AND THEIR CURRENT SITUATION!! The winter is fast approaching and they will need all the financial support possible, especially for medications!!
Old post about the wallpapers (outdated info)
Any proof of donation from ko-fi wallpaper purchase goes HERE.

Byrd: Dad? Oscar: Morning, bud.. miserable day, huh? I’m not looking forward to packing up in the rain. Oscar: Did you sleep okay? Byrd: Erm… Oscar: GO GET YOUR HEARING AIDS! [Byrd fidgeted guilty, implying that he’d lost yet another pair] Byrd: [sobs] Why do I have to be deaf without them, papa-.. s’not fair. [Oscar held Byrd tightly, stroking his back until his sobs subsided somewhat] Oscar: LET’S SEE WHAT WE CAN DO… [Oscar plonked Byrd outside as he rummaged through his bags, eventually producing a backup pair of hearing aids] Oscar: Better? [Byrd nodded gratefully, burying his snotty nose in his father’s hair as he threw his arms around him] Oscar: Maybe you ought to think twice about learning SSL. Byrd: What’s the point? No one else knows it. Oscar: Robin does, and we all know bits n’ pieces, don’t we? [Byrd grumbled disinterestedly] Oscar: I think it’s long overdue, pal-.. what if we all learn it together? Properly this time. Byrd: I guess… Oscar: All I heard was yes. Byrd: Are you deaf too? Oscar: [snorts] C’mon, we’ll probably find the other pairs as we clear up. Wren: Daaaaad, it’s raining! Oscar: The faster we get goin’, the faster we’ll be in the car-.. I bet Wren can pack up faster than you. Byrd: [gasps] NO WAY! [rain pattering]

Something kinda tasteless about the way that alongside the concerns of "Batman needs someone to rein in his aggression/edginess" (mostly a meta concern,) "Robin is a symbol of undying hope right alongside Batman, Superman, and the police system," and "now that the thought's crossed my mind I think being Robin would be pretty sweet actually," one of Tim's points for why he should be Robin at the end of A Lonely Place of Dying is "we need to show the criminals of Gotham that they can't just kill Robin and expect to get away with it!" Because. They can. That's exactly what happened.
Using that line of reasoning, Tim makes the claim that the idea of Jaybin's life as disposable and inconsequential is heinous and bad, his killing something impermissible, but instead of disproving said idea they allow it to become true and devote their energy to making sure it doesn't become widely known as such. By covering his death up, they actually are permitting his murder to go unaddressed and deeming it acceptable, even taking away the opportunity for it to be consequential to anyone outside of Bruce's inner circle by not spreading the news. As much as we say "oh Bruce was a great dad because losing Jason crushed him" and "he almost considered trying to kill the Joker one time," he in all tangible areas did not do anything about Jason's death. Setting aside the question of killing the Joker or not, it's still shown in Batman Year 3 that Bruce's reaction to Jason's death in the time til Tim showed up was to hide away everything Jason owned and carry on with business as usual, a little angrier. Bruce didn't make any changes or actually evaluate anything in a significant way after the warehouse and Jason's death didn't warrant any tangible consequence, that's evident from reading the comic. I know some may disagree, and I acknowledge the room for interpretation, but in order to discuss Tim's reason we have to concede that it is explicitly written into this specific comic as something Bruce and Tim both recognize as fact, because it serves as the foundation that this reason is built on: there is good reason for the criminals to believe there would no punishment for killing Robin based on the actions Bruce did or didn't take in response. The concern about the public realizing there are no consequences for killing Robin wouldn't be reasonable if it wasn't true, if there actually were.
While they recognize that Jason's death came to pass largely without consequence, the fact itself is less of an issue to both Bruce and Tim than letting criminals actually find out that it doesn't have consequence. They know it's unjust, the notion that Jason can be killed without repercussion (and in making an effort to minimize his murder confirm it to be true,) but their concern isn't for what actually happened to Jason or the lack of proper response. At least on the vigilante side of things, the problem is public perception and continuing to uphold an image of Batman as just and diligent while permitting him to ignore injustice against those close to him. There's no efforts taken to actually disprove the idea that killing Robin would lack impact, what Tim proposes is just making it harder to prove right.
I think the best way to word what comes across tasteless for me here (aside from the side commentary on the unstoppable might of the institution of police and how it's an exemplar of heroism) is that beyond Tim's victim-blaming of Jason during his stint as Robin, (discussed in more depth by people who can word it better than me,) in the base text of a Lonely Place of Dying, it is foundational to the initial premise of Tim as Robin that part of his motive for being Robin hinges on accepting what happened to Jason as something that cannot be allowed in their pursuit of justice or go unaddressed for reasons completely unrelated to the actual harm, and then intentionally erasing the event and the way in which it was allowed and did go unaddressed. No matter how much it's claimed in later comics that Bruce was faultless and Jason doomed himself, Tim's Robin came to be at least in part (in-universe) as a cover-up for the lack of action taken about Jason's death, and by extension as an effort to overwrite his time as Robin and an individual entirely. And thought it wasn't the way his character viewed it, Tim wasn't passively complicit in it or going along with a poor grieving man, the intentional and deliberate erasure of Jason as a murder victim and the injustice of his posthumous treatment was part of his opening pitch.
#truly just “we can't let them think we do the thing that we do” at its core#because the thing that we do is bad and not fair like we want to look fair and would have consequences we don't want. so they can't know."#i see too much of people saying Jason took Dick's mantle so he shouldn't be mad at Tim when 1. he wasn't mad at Tim for it. didn't happen#and 2. Jason became Robin because Bruce was lonely and Jason was homeless and Tim became Robin in an effort to minimize Jason's death#Jason worried Dick wanted his job back (implying he would give it up if he wanted) and Tim shamed the dead kid he was hiding the murder of#can we spot the differences?#you can't really say Jason's gripe of “my death changed nothing” was off-base#when one of tim's first points on panel was that they should be giving the consequences of his murder the landlord special#i feel like all of the ways in which they made tim “more likable” were just leaning back into the status quo they branched out from#like “Jason doesn't like cops and believes they fail victims? well Tim thinks they're the good-hearted models for what a real hero is”#“Jason has conflicting opinions about cases with Batman? Tim is trying to bring back the true Batman who works exactly like he always did”#“Tim is nice and sweet and comes from a good family and has been there from the start. he respects what Batman is”#he's nice enough but his character is (meta not in-universe) rooted in a return to the safe classics that bring us good sales#idk why fanon props him up as the sad shunned outsider of the batfam when he is fr designed to maintain the norm and not rock the boat#also it's immensely funny to see Bruce accuse Jason of being needlessly violent over his emotional state as Robin#when not only does Bruce do exactly that and only that when Jason dies but he was doing it BEFORE too!#Oh No! he went from brutal to criminals and forgoing proper investigations to being brutal to criminals and forgoing proper investigations!#jason todd#batman#bruce wayne#robin#dc comics#discussion of tim drake#again not using the character tag because this isn't the most nicies#but i honest don't hate him that much

the fact that they made it illegal to make ads louder than programs on tv in 2010 but haven't updated it to apply the same regulation to streaming. who do i have to call.
#jack facts#like do they think we don't notice#i truly do hate it here#i really do think that we should get to a ''you ruined it for everyone'' threshhold with ads at this point tbh#circulating ads should be a need based allowance#below a certain nw you can circulate as many ads as you want provided they follow guidelines#then above a certain nw you get a quota. you can have x number of ads circulating at a time.#and i don't mean distinct different ads that can be put wherever. no. if you have an ad on youtube that counts as one#and if you put the SAME AD on a different platform or tv channel or at the fucking gas station pumps or on a billboard or ANYWHERE#each different instance of the ad counts as another ad in your quota!#& if you have like a 1min skippable + a 30sec unskippable v of the same ad on the same platform. that counts as two. FUCK you.#and then above another nw line. you cannot have ads at all. bye you don't need them they serve no purpose they are just annoyances.#also paying influencers to hawk your shit counts as ads! fuck you!! paid word of mouth is not actual wom that is also an ad! fuck you!!!#oh u want ppl to rec ur product & u don't have any ad spots left?? well sugar you better have a fucking good product then lol :) fuck you#also if a co breaks an ad reg that co and any co it owns/parents can never make another fucking ad ever again in its existence#AND if a ceo breaks an ad reg w one co then disbands it and makes a new co and breaks ad reg w that one#then the CEO or any co they have ANY % ownership or investment in can never make an ad ever again. FUCK you.#charities/nonprofits and sole proprietorships get one (1) appeal to a total ad ban#that's IT!! ENOUGH!!!!! ENOUGH!!!!!!!! FUCK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!#AND ONE MORE THING. ''pay us not to see ads on our platform/app/other thing'' should also be illegal.#''pay us for basic ass functions'' illegal. pay to win. illegal. sale/product announcements in things that are not press. illegal.#creating an ad or listing for something that doesn't exist and only manufacturing it after it is purchased. illegal.#ads that are full screen when a user has not already selected full screen on a video player. illegal.#pop up ads. illegal.#ads with audio on a platform that doesn't. illegal. video ads on a platform that doesn't have video. illegal.#ads w epilepsy triggers. illegal everywhere forever always w out needing to be reported by consumers. cannot be circulated in the 1st place#ads w graphic violence or soundscapes that mimic it. see epilepsy triggers.#ads for things that are not actually consumer products. illegal.#anything else u want to circulate like an ad must go thru other regs to qualify as psa or edu. if it doesn't qualify tough shit get fucked.#[insert gif collage of people talking extensively while wildly gesturing for emphasis here]

so I've been following along with the mattress questions because my mattress is just about exactly 10 years old and sags SO BAD. It's deeply, deeply uncomfortable and all the things you've been saying to look for to replace, it has. I've already decided that when I start getting my paychecks this fall, the first thing I'm buying is a new mattress.
Are there any brands that sell $800-$1000 queen beds that you'd recommend? I get so overwhelmed with choice, so names to at least check out at the store would be useful.
Also, is it better to get a mattress topper earlier rather than later? Or should you wait until you notice problems with it to shell out for one?
(thank you so much, I had just resigned myself to sleeping bad forever, but this series of answers reminded me that I'm an Adult with Adult Money and can (eventually) buy myself a new one. and as I buy the new one, I WILL be buying a couple protectors)
Hmmnnngh. Okay. So here’s the thing. There’s a lot of really good queens in that price range. But taking a recommendation usually supersedes personal comfort, which is why almost all of these asks I deal in generalities rather than specifics. Also because bed names vary by retailer to be confusing because why not.
Just because I think a bed feels good doesn’t mean someone else won’t like something better, and I’ve seen a ton of folks who buy the bed a friend recommends even though their comfort is different. They return it later. So I am going to name names, but it’s very important that you take into consideration how the bed feels not just that I said it’s a good brand. We straight up don’t tell people what we sleep on for this reason because people will just buy that one assuming it’s the best.
Sealy, Serta, and Simmons all make great beds around that price point that I’ve had personal experience with. But as scary as it is the best thing to do is go into a store. The person is there to guide you around. You don’t need encyclopedic knowledge of beds, because it’s all about first how it feels to you. Their job is to help you navigate the showroom from there.
My personal process and what’s still taught in my company is to determine the comfort that fits you, then look at different styles in that comfort. Most folks are a medium-plush if you’re a side sleeper never go firm, ever, for real. Once you know how soft you like it you can compare A-B style between innerspring, hybrid, and foam.
Most people will have a strong preference for one of the three, and you won’t know before trying. Then you can narrow down from there. There’s probably only like six maybe seven beds you need to lay on to find the one!
Regarding the topper: no. Get a bed you like out the gate. When it sags, get a new bed. The ONLY time you will need a topper is if your bed is too hard on shoulders and hips and ideally you’re not buying that because you’ve just bought a super comfy amazing new mattress that’s perfect as is.
You need a thin waterproof protector and sheets and that’s it. Anytime you’re adding stuff like a topper or an extra pillow something is failing you and should get kicked to the curb.

every time I buy and new pair of boots I think ‘it’s what Present Mic would have wanted’ because, for some reason, I associate him with like. just a really solid pair of boots?? even though if you look at his hero costume, his shoes are actually pretty plain???? so I cannot figure out where the hell I came up with this idea that the Present Mic persona should have very distinctive footwear but I’ve got it in my head now and it’s stuck there. get that man some platforms.

The Odd One Out
All roads leads to Home x Peach
Home's grandfather wanted a ceremony with a strict dress code of orange only.
Tumblr media
And I thought it was just because the grandfather really liked the color orange.
Tumblr media
Because in a show with a Pink Person, a Cyan Cutie, a Brown Beauty, a Red Rascal, and a Black Brooder (single father of four not pictured), I thought I had my fill of colors.
Tumblr media
But as the maids carried out the grandfather's red and orange suits in episode eleven, it hit me.
Tumblr media
This is a family of fiery personalities.
Tumblr media
Phon is also a Red Rascal.
Tumblr media
But she is everything negative about them.
Tumblr media
She is vengeful.
Tumblr media
She is murderous.
Tumblr media
She is hot-tempered.
Tumblr media
But Red Rascal Home doesn't have to worry about turning out like her because he has Brown Beauty Kan, Pink Person Pang, Cyan Cutie Home, and Black Brooder Suradech to keep him humble. And, of course, his uncle Somkid.
Tumblr media
Who's been an oddity from the very beginning.
Tumblr media
And I do mean the very beginning.
Tumblr media
However, I trusted Somkid because Orange Oddities are normally optimistic and energetic, which he has been shown to be, but Somkid has his own mysterious and secretive Black Brooder.
Tumblr media
Who helps Somkid be everywhere the color-coded kids are.
Tumblr media
And I mean everywhere.
Tumblr media
However, I didn't realize it because I was too busy focused on Home's wearing Peach's color all the time, which I have believed shows he loves Peach.
Tumblr media
Which is why I was also excited when Home wore green (which is part of Peach's cyan) on his chest with his red accented shirt, yet ignored the orange on the stomach of Peach's shirt.
Tumblr media
So when the cursed eleventh episode began I felt bad for Peach because he seemed to be struggling with his color as he believed Home didn't care if he left.
Tumblr media
The same way Home struggled with his color when he thought his relationship with Peach was irredeemable.
Tumblr media
Even though Pang maintained her color.
Tumblr media
So when Peach magically gained his color back at the morgue, I knew something was off.
Tumblr media
And, thankfully, the showed went back and told us that the Cyan Cutie and Red Rascal had actually worked everything out, so it would make sense that Peach would gain his color back before the morgue scene.
Tumblr media
Because the thing about Peach is, unlike Home who has continuously worn Peach's blues and greens throughout the series, Peach isn't so quick to wear Home's red. He likes to save it for big moments, like when he signed "love"
Tumblr media
So it was strange that the boy who has gone a journey with Home as they have both evolved (and fallen in love!) barely wears Home's red, while Somkid finally decided after decades of being the oddity of the family to wear red in solidarity with his family.
Tumblr media
As if he was trying to prove he belonged in the family.
Tumblr media
But the bad thing about Orange Oddities is, because they are attention-seeking and impatient, their actions can quickly become insincere if they feel slighted.
Tumblr media
And their true color will easily emerge.
Tumblr media
But as mentioned before, Peach likes to save his love red for Home for big moments, like when it's written over his heart with his color below as they prepare to take down Somkid. (Shoutout to the wardrobe department for grabbing a Rolling Loud Music Festival shirt!)
Tumblr media
So we enter into the finale with
Black Brooder Suradech being rushed to the hospital,
Somkid showing his true color,
Home wearing his and Peach's combined colors in the same purple sweater he comforted Peach in when Peach faced his past,
Pang supporting her bother in blue with her pink on her chest,
Kan being the secure Brown Beauty,
and Peach in the same blue shirt he wore when Home made his dreams come true that proudly proclaims that "IT'S UP TO YOU" because he is the one who has the save the Red Rascal who quietly crept into his bed in the first episode and into his heart all season.
Tumblr media
And now that "YOU" sits on his heart for everyone to see.

Hey. All y'all who make things? Tangible physical things--art, crafts, whatever?
Plug your work on this post, and link to your shop(s). Don't be shy.
I want to help people and small businesses, especially at a time like this, but also I am not immune to the allure of Shiny New Thing Get (TM). I already bought a couple things from the ACLU store, but I know there's a world of stuff out there I just don't know about off-hand.
Give me options, guys. I know some talented folks are reading this right now. Show me what you got!

Peaceful Property EP 6 Analysis: Why Didn't Peach Take The Money
Alright, I've seen a lot of criticism towards Peach's decision not to take the money offered by Home's family lawyer to buy his silence and do damage control after the footage of the accident got leaked. Now, I'm all about bashing GMMTV for their mistreatment of TayNew and other actors under their label, as well as for their lazy storylines and plot holes on the final episodes of their shows, but for once I don't think you guys are seeing the whole picture. Yes, GMMTV is notoriously bad at depicting poor characters, but Peach's decision is not out of pocket. It's actually very characteristic of him and the progression of his friendship with Home.
Hear me out: First, in the beginning of the series, we see Peach and Home fight about money many times – From Home accusing Peach of trying to sabotage his Real State business by faking a paranormal event in Best's house for the sake of going viral to Home later on trying to hire Peach to exorcise said properties even though they'd just met.
Peach sees Home as a spoiled, privileged rich kid who was raised to believe money could buy anything. This conflict is explicitly shown on Episode 2, during Rak's exorcism when Home repeatedly attempts to buy his way out of a bad situation and Peach confronts him about it. First, when Home makes fun of Peach's attempt at making Rak a sandwich based on the manager's instructions and questions his abilities, then buys a feast for the ghost after Peach quits the job, arguing that she must've refused to pass on because the food wasn't to her liking. The second time it happened it's a more pronounced attempt, with Home slapping a pile of cash on the table during the commotion and Peach becoming outraged at it.
But this conflict is brought to light again, on Episode 3, when Peach and PangPang sign the ghost-hunting contract and Kan tells them they've essentially sold their souls to Home in exchange for a paycheck, as they need to heed all of his orders from now, which Home takes full advantage of right away. Now, PangPang is fine with the deal – as she's been since the start. She was the one who got Peach to agree to the exorcisms in the first place and it was her idea to go to Home and ask if he could lend them one of his properties. As long as there's something good coming out of it, she doesn't mind. Peach, however, is reluctant to agree to Home's unreasonable requests but eventually caves in and swallows his pride.
Yet, on Episode 5, we see him once again stand his ground. It doesn't matter that Home will cut his paycheck, he refuses to go back into the restaurant where his former mentor passed away (seemingly by his fault). Home has to push him to the brink, remind Peach of his current living situation – He has no place to stay in, he's sleeping under Home's roof – and consequently hurt him to convince him.
But by the end of Episode 5, Peach knows Home never cared about the money or intended to demolish the restaurant to build a 50 million baht condo out of it. Home confesses to Peach that he only acted the way he did because he knew Peach wouldn't have come otherwise and he really wanted to help Peach overcome his fear. So when Episode 6 rolls around, money is no longer a point of conflict in their friendship, right? Wrong.
Money (as well as influence) is the reason why Home is able to make Peach's dream come true in a heartbeat, after barely a day of knowing about it. He does it in grand style, in a palace, with cameras broadcasting it live and even getting Peach a do-over with Chai-Un as a bonus. But Peach doesn't feel like he owes Home, like he has to bend to his will, anymore because he knows where they stand now: they're family and family looks out for each other. Peach knows Home went through all this effort to make him happy and he rewards Home with his full trust. First, by leaving him on charge of the trickiest part of the dish that could ruin his career all over again. And second, by showing his gratitude and considering Home part of his and PangPang's family (They're the parents and Pang's the baby, as said by her).
So, he asks about Home's dream and when he realizes it's something that he can give him, Peach doesn't hesitate to do so. Home, who's grown up in a mansion, never had to fry an egg or find a job to survive, simply craves the love and comfort of a family and Peach welcomes him wholly.
So, then I ask you, why would Peach refuse the money Home's family lawyer offered him and give back what he got from the exorcisms? Well, the moment Peach found out (or rather assumed) that Home had been lying to him all this time, their friendship left a sour taste in his mouth. What Peach was led to believe Home had done out of care had turned out to be just an attempt at relieving himself of the guilt of the hit-and-run situation. Peach could be thinking Home sought him out on purpose with ulterior motives from the start, that it was all a game to him.
That only escalates once Home's family lawyer, and not Home himself, walks in with yet another contract for him to sign and an order of eviction. That is what puts up a wall between Home and Peach again and reminds Peach of their class disparities: he is poor and Home is rich. Three years ago, Home hit him with his yellow sports car while Peach was on his way home from work. Home's family took care of everything, bribed the police and buried the evidence while Peach was left with pain, guilt and trauma. Home was sent abroad to lay low while Peach lost his mentor (and mother figure), his job and his self-confidence. They couldn't be more worlds apart than they are.
One of Peach's fatal flaws is his pride. He doesn't care if he's going to have to go back to the "rat hole" he came from. He doesn't care if he's losing the chance of living a comfortable life. Peach went his whole life without generational wealth, he can continue to do so now.
So of course, not only doesn't he take the money but he goes even further and intends to give back all that he got from Home's family. Peach wants to be far way from Home and that includes his money. He doesn't care about being reasonable right now, he's just protecting himself.

i'd like to think in this scene as kakania gets teary over isolde, hofmann is in her seat pointedly ignoring what's happening and there's this split-second moment between her and marcus meeting eyes and silently greta convinces her to comfort kakania.
hofmann's thoughts go something like "hm, letting marcus have hands-on experience on how to deal with emotions running high in a controlled environment is a good decision to make. also. this means i won't have to partake in any of this woman's complicated relationship drama with isolde dittasdorf.
god im not touching that with a ten foot pole as much as i can."
later does she know she gets roped into it in the worst way possible
