drafted up a list of painting challenges for myself to get over my weird personal fear of having fun painting. first one is this dog statue we have on the windowsill that gives me gambler vibes, but specifically winning. he’s got people that owe him major debts

peek at my studio shelf (beautiful mess) and this still life of a cut-in-half pear and two avocados on a lovely bed of lettuce in my painting sketchbook that i’ll never finish because it became time to eat said pear and avocados

OMG i finally finished it! my first hand quilted quilt. i pieced the quilt top and backing in 2 days and spent 3 months on the quilting… BUT im absolutely enamored with the texture and the absolute absurdity in the shape of my messed up “mitered corners”. this quilt is truly delightful to me + i love the scrap back more than the front design + i love that it’s an almost square (ended up 48x51”) . can you tell i’m really proud of this one lol

The curtain is finished! Three views of the front, one of the back. It lets in the light really well: no batting and a thin white backing fabric.
#this is beautiful!!#looks like stained glass#i love the view of it through the other door and entryway

as a follow up to this: day two of painting every day because i told myself i will : i worked on the middle panel of this painting :-D

i will be updating my blog with what i’ve worked on each day that assuming i’m successful letsa go 🤙

i’ve really got the summertime itch to get Painting Serious again, i’ve just spent so much time on my quilts and other fiber arts lately that my painting self (my artistic home) feels soooo neglected and foreign. so i spent some time this evening working on this panel and a pillar of the sorento, il painting :-)

i bought a toned grey sketchbook this weekend to be my casual painting and painting practice book. canvases take up a lot of space, and i thought my oils would pop beautifully on the grey paper. and wouldn’t you know it. look at miss naples yellow… glowing

this evening i started a painting of my wife in our days of being camp counselors together. weren’t we cute
