my eyes
shut down slowly
like shop shutters
after nine
on a tuesday as i
stand with my face inclined
that he touches with his mouth
like a bee
kissing a happy sunflower.
There is no sweet nectar here
to make honey from
in fact, i don’t know
what i taste like.
my mind has shut up for once,
i’m made of smoke
rising from scented candles
that smell like his shirt
which i clutch tight as
two wet petals sandwich
my upper lip between them.
They let go like separating orange slices,
like waves pulling away
which return thicker
before the shop shutters
can open again.
My mouth is a floor freshly mopped,
my teeth are slippery rocks under
a waterfall
and lava oozes out from me
as your tongue makes it way in
with confidence it won’t slip
and I can barely recall what day it is.
After you leave I stand there thinking,
would you believe me if i said
you gave me everything i dreamt of
when you quietly pushed my mouth back
when I touched mine to yours.

I know they’re not together anymore but I love a good romantic poem
Twitter fawns over Pardi’s poem seemingly for Megan Thee Stallion
As previously reported by REVOLT, amid a high-profile court case and the controversy surrounding it, last year, Megan Thee Stallion publicly announced it was time for a break because she was “physically and emotionally” tired. After the Hot Girl Coach also removed a handful of pictures from her Instagram account, fans suspected there was trouble in paradise with the 28-year-old and her boyfriend, rapper and songwriter Pardison “Pardi” Fontaine.
While the two have kept things relatively quiet about their relationship status in recent months, this week, Pardi chose to share his feelings at an open mic night in Los Angeles. “NEVER DONE POETRY BEFORE. THOUGHT THIS WAS FITTING. THANK YOU, Da Poetry Lounge, FOR ALLOWING ME TO SHARE THIS,” he captioned a video on Instagram. “Look, you a survivor, but not a victim. Somewhere between ‘God forgive ‘em’ and ‘I gotta get ‘em,’” Pardi began in the clip that was just over two minutes long.
“You want acknowledgement for your bravery, not sympathy,” he continued while also describing the woman’s ambition. As Pardi’s words flowed, with mention of her being “spicy” and “cajun” like the Texas-based restaurant Pappadeaux, fans immediately believed his poem was about the Houston native. “I love Pardi’s poem. I’m pretty sure that was dedicated to Megan. He really tells that he sees her and he loves everything about her. That’s so cute,” one person wrote on Twitter. “Black love. I love how Pardi is with Megan! Everything about that poem was LOVE,” another said in response to his admission.
Others hoped he’d become an example for potential partners: “Just saw Pardi’s poem to Megan, and I loved every bit of it. I remember a time when men would write poetry of love and vulnerability. More of this, please.” Another got straight to the point about their dating requirements: “Write me a poem like Pardi or [get the f**k outta here].” While the two hitmakers may simply be living their love lives out of the public eye, Pardi seemingly squashed breakup rumors in February by sharing a photo of himself and a woman with nails similar to Thee Stallion’s holding heart-shaped shot glasses. The snap was posted around Valentine’s Day, which coincides with the “Cognac Queen’s” birthday.
See what others are saying about Pardi’s poem below!

California Ave.
You did not spoon feed me the shards of glass,
I ate my own pride willingly,
& here you go,
showing up unexpectedly.
Unintentionally.
Stemming from one piece of fruit to the next I ended up over picked
Over ripe
No longer perishable to be considered someone sweet.
I rotted in the summer heat and then
I fell down out of this world
I traded wings to begin again
I sweated in the palms of my hands praying for a mistake but fate could not turn their lead so kindly
I had no choice but to intake it all
Painted all the ways I found as an escape
I think so logically
One way in and 300 ways out
Left side, right side,
you were asleep by my side.
I found you tryna destroy the timeline
Money rolled into one single cone to erase all our lifelines
This idea was never mine.
It’s just in front of me, why would God give it to me?
I sit & cry
I smoke & get high
I laugh & lie
I write poems & got titles on both my thighs
I loved you but now I wonder why

people in my comics dreamt
in cloud bubbles hanging
over their heads when they slept.
My hand raised itself in my sleep last night,
caught the dream of you and me
like a kite
and tied it to the edge of my bed.
I spent the entire morning, afternoon and evening
watching it from beginning to end to
beginning to end to beginning
to end to beginn-
“i have buck teeth”, you said
your mouth is a carnivorous flower
bending downwards to kiss my cheek,
its the erect keys of a harmonium
with plucked out reeds.
It shapeshifts like a mythical being
becomes a thick red carpet
flashing bright canine clicks
watching my jealousy get caught in glass doors
of grocery stores before we swallow
golden fizz,
your apple-burp in my ear roars
motorbike engines to life-
I turn to scold but vomit a word too strong
for early-twenties to digest-
a chuckle escapes your cave
where names of politicians hang upside down
and tosses the four heavy letters away-
just around the near future, (I hope).
Your mouth is my favourite thing about you,
after your hands and your mind and your laugh
and how much you talk about your sister.
You asked, "Mummy, did you dye your hair?"
as a round about way of telling her she looked pretty;
My Pappa's snarky comments about my exam blunders
haven't upset me since.
My hand raised itself in my sleep last night,
caught the dream of you and me
like a kite
and tied it to the edge of your bed
where I laid and watched you tell me
news controversies through the toothpaste foam
in your mouth as you brushed your teeth.

You were never brave for me. Being brave would have been loving me and treating me like I deserved. You could've been a phase of my healing, but you weren't. You were a part of my destruction. That's your chapter in my life. You chose it. So excuse me if I no longer cry for you, about you. But I refuse to cry for someone who had every chance to write themselves into my story as the hero and chose to be the villain.

You see them
Sharks with nowhere to go
And nothing to do but kill
the love they want they never
get and the one they
have they don’t want
And the one they had wasn’t love
at all. There’s two women in my
life. One up north that wants to kill me and one in my bed
that’s killed what’s left. We
kiss and lips taste better in
the dark. Two bodies intertwined
in the mistake. In the distance
I hear sirens. Someone died. The
dogs bark lost in the rain.
There’s something else about
life
We miss out on
living
Thom (quoted)
ps; i wish i could find the poem on google, i can’t find it anywhere and it makes me sad. i loved this one by a poet called Thom

this is no delicate falling, no easy descent
but ive fallen before, ive collapsed through this hole
I recognize before me the all too familiar door
that sways and swings forth
something happens and I have to start all over
-would you like to begin the recovery process? No.
break into the yolk, spill the matter never splatter
pray to a different god, the one who controls the weather
pray for the loudest thunder to drown the cries of your mother
elevator, elevator – wrong floor, wrong floor
I wanna to scream so loudly because I need you to talk to me.
Sometimes I dont recognize everything around me and I cant
find myself through the looking glass – a broken glass. Only
broken dreams can be wrought from a broken temporality.
Im not searching for myself, I just want to hold her.
