Somebody on my dash did one of these and said ‘tagged if you wanna do this’ for the ao3 fic writer interview and I wanted to do it, SO... under the cut to not be annoying

How many works do you have on AO3?

159, although 138 are under the shadowofthelamp pseud.

What’s your total word count on AO3

Uhhhh 338,085, 405,437 if you count both accounts.

How many fandoms have you written for and what are they?

In order of most to least fics on ao3, Invader Zim, Yugioh, Steven Universe, Sonic (General, Archie, Satam, X, and Underground), Gravity Falls, Jack Blank Adventures, Venom, Danny Phantom, Generator Rex, Rick and Morty, H.I.V.E, Spongebob, JTHM, Helluva Boss, Hazbin Hotel, Wander Over Yonder, Captain Underpants, Yugioh Abridged, and Milo Murphy’s Law. So, 27. (On ao3, on tumblr I have a few more scattered throughout my writing tag, like Randy Cunningham 9th Grade Ninja and Dude That’s My Ghost)

What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Adventures in Parenthood, One New Fact (which kinda surprised me), Little Things, Quiet Revelations, and one of the smutty ones, not gonna say which.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I didn’t always used to, but I’m trying to now, since I always like getting replies from other authors, and it’s kind of my way of thanking them for commenting.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

Wrong, probably? There might be an older one but I’m not trawling back for that. Realizing you fucked up your one chance at happiness kinda sucks a lot.

Do you write crossovers? If so, what’s the craziest thing you’ve ever written?

Yep! Probably the most ‘out there’ one was one that I dropped pretty quickly, and IZ/PNF crossover where Dib was an exchange student at the Flynn-Fletcher house. I still like my IZ/DP one though, even though it’s probably never going to be finished either.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Discounting the ones on ffnet that I think were spamming everybody who posted in the zim tag (although ‘derping mpreg whore’ was very funny), a few, yeah, but nothing that was memorable enough to stick. Plus, does hate sent to tumblr/raiding my fic’s discord server count? Because I got a great one on tumblr the other day that accused me of being horrible for enjoying a relationship that was unhealthy in canon (something they’d know I agreed with if they actually cared to check) and said mpreg didn’t make sense. For demons. Ah, tumblr.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yep. Take one look at my whole Deal and take a guess.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yep, twice! The hilarious thing is one was in a TINY fandom (Jack Blank Adventures) and it was on ffnet, which had less than ten fics at the time. The other one I don’t even remember what fandom it was, just that at some point the thief got pissy because they were being homophobic and I was like ‘why did you like the ideas of a lesbian (which was what I identified as back then) if gays are so awful then’. That was kinda funny.

Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yep! A couple of times, both to Russian for the site ficbook.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nnnnnot really? I’ve written stories inspired by conversations with friends, but never co-written one. (If that flower shop sonadow one is still linked on my profile, it was my idea but Rosy did all of the writing.)

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Zadr, probably.

What’s a WIP you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

REINVENTION AND CRUSHING THE CODE MY BELOVEDS...

What are your writing strengths?

Characterization, 100%. I’m really good at dialogue, I think, and I have a lot of fun with action scenes even though I don’t write them too often.

What are your writing weaknesses?

Atmosphere, I suppose? Setting the scene can be difficult, I just kinda wanna... be in it already.

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I’ve only done it in Reinvention with Ceasar’s dialogue since him and Rex pepper Spanish into their speech in canon, and I’d just advise running it past a native speaker if possible.

What was the first fandom you wrote for?

Sonic! I was writing Sonic fic in my head years before I knew the concept of fic existed.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve ever written?

I kinda have differing levels of favorites? Reflecting is probably my favorite short one, and I have a lot of affection for AIP, but I really, really like my new one (heh, new, geez it’s almost going on a year now) because it feels like it took what I learned from AIP and built on it, so the funny parts are funnier and the emotional stuff is tighter. (Also it just crossed AIP in viewcount and probably will in kudos at some point, and I’m screaming a little at that.)
