finished like 153 chapters in one night. i love these kinds of executions for yandere characters so much. i love it when a story takes mental illness and psychological brokenness seriously and still be able to create a beautiful interpretation without fetishizing that appeals to the very raw and basic nature of wanting to be loved so badly that fractures a person. i love stories like this that show us the worst of a person but doesn't rush to ease them again. i love stories that show the darkest pits of the human psyche and makes you go, "this is happening but it isn't the end. wait just a bit, and ill show you how things get better." i LOVE when stories do that; get all meta and create a story within the story that the actors/characters have to now see their way through and reach the scripted happy ending that feels impossible and illogical to reach as a conclusion, but happened anyways. stories that are seemingly taken out of the author's hands and into the characters instead and them being like "i know you believe this happy ending to be false, because you can't believe it'll be achievable through anything but delusion. but just wait, i'll show you." (thinking particularly about the princess iron fan arc in act age bc that still makes me tear up)

the depiction of ptsd and mental illness was something i was particularly touched by, too. the "problematic" aspects, ugly aspects, of mental illness were addressed so kindly and compassionately, and the solution never felt like it was straight up telling you "you're messed up. this isn't right, you're not normal". this is something i would've expected reading a story with a yandere character, because for most people the appeal of a yandere is to be attracted to someone who is Fucked up but hot. but like. even rebuttals like "no that's not normal! that scares me!" were handled so casually -- almost to the point you could call it carelessly, but it wasn't careless at all. it was a deliberate choice to not make a Huge deal about being turned off by someone's thoughts or preferences that made for a much more judgement-free and loving environment to agree or disagree with each other.

rindo is really the ideal wish fulfillment for mentally ill buddies like me along w kim kitsuragi sjjdjdjfkfkf. like i kept waiting for the other shoe to drop, to see the twist that oh this guy is gonna be fucked up too! bc of the Genre! but no. he's kind, steadfast and humourous, and is so generous w his capacity to love people. he might be understood as a selfless martyr type with the way he keeps wanting to reassure amane even during really troubling events in the plot, but he was never traumatised by those events and he had a clear and sane mind the entire time. its so easy to think of him as a "victim" in an overbearing codependent relationship in the story, but he's just really emotionally resilient. he doesn't give up, he doesn't take hurtful words at face value because he knows something deeper is at play, he doesn't hesitate opening up first and being vulnerable or pushy if it helps amane feel less ugly being vulnerable with his thoughts and desires towards him.

this is a fictional story and not irl, so obviously like. irl, you wouldn't want to enmesh yourself so deeply with someone that you'll die if they do. but he was willing to do that. not necessarily that, but the same gesture -- "if i ever betray you, you can kill me, and then we'll both be the last thing we'll see". on paper, even just writing it, makes me sound insane and delusional. how could this be something someone sane could say? but he WAS sane, because he was also saying "you said you love me so much you want to die with me, so you must also mean that you love me so much you want to live with me forever. this means your heart wants to be with me, so stop deceiving yourself into thinking you'll be fine. know that my heart and yours are joined in the same way, because i want to see you at the end of my life too, and there's nothing wrong with that."

rindo has such a great talent for finding multiple meanings, often positive, to amane's thoughts. because his mind is often muddy and swamped with unpleasant words and memories when he spirals / ruminates , he can't stick his hand through it long enough to see what comes out when he pulls out of it. very natural, normal and human desires you form with someone you love: "i love you. i'm scared you'll leave me someday. i want to be with you forever. i don't know if i deserve to be this happy. i love you. i love you. i love you. i don't want to spend a day without you. i want you to be happy and i want to be involved in making you happy, but i feel so incompetent that i'm worried i'll fail too much. i love you. please love me back.”

the way the characters in this story is so kind genuinely ... makes me want to cry. like rindo's mom accidentally saying homophobic things at first out of surprise but then her Maternal instincts took over and she could have another son to shower with love. the way everyone looks out for them but doesn't judge their relationship or try to messily break them away from each other or intervene for their "own good". there's no unnecessary drama or misunderstanding that isn't solved within 1-2 chapters in a really clear, reassuring tone (while also maintaining a natural pace so as to be thoughtful to the writing).

man. i cried multiple times reading this story. i was just here for the yandere BL ride, not the unexpected feeling of love and validation for my mental health issues?!

I'm not even going to argue, she is my older sister of course she is going to be over protective. "Okay."

Realising his mistake immediately, he almost vomited his own stomach out at seeing you fall lifelessly on the ground, eyes wide and body dropping from the impact.

Breathing rapid and strained, he rushed towards you, gently wrapping his arms around your body, growing weaker by the minute, and headed straight for the first sign of cover he could see. Behind unstable and temporary refuge, König was at a loss at what to do.

"—S-schatz, please please please—" König was shaking violently, his body jittering. Hesistant hands hovered over your wound, conflicted, as blood was staining your uniform, wrenching König's heart, his mind repeating you did this. You did this. You did this.

You needed urgent aid, and you needed it right now, yet he didn't deserve to touch you, his hands clenched into fists as he didn't want to break you further, treating you like fragile glass.

He was the one that did this to you. His liebling, the radiant sun whose smile always lit up the room, made his day. The sweetheart that always brought him food, asked about his day in civilian settings, and shouted over the thundering roar of bullets that you'd cover him, giving him the chance to change position and allow you to advance on the battlefield.

King and König, so in sync, such a dynamic duo to other operators and a relationship he cherished, the only thing in his life worth fighting for and keep living.

He did this to you.

He was the monster in your closet, the shadow that you had desperately attempted to avoid throughout all of your deployments, the threat that you were told to eliminate on each mission. The enemy.

The enemy that had mistakenly shot you.

"Es tut mir so leid, I'm so sorry—" König's mind couldn't function properly. Speaking in broken English and German. He couldn't gather his thoughts, couldn't think.

Bullets whizzed past you both relentlessly, both of you still caught in crossfire. You couldn't hear what König was saying to you, couldn't feel anything as you slowly lost consciousness.

good gpd im so frustrated with stuff in terras rn. idont care anymore if they know who i am im jyst. so so frustrayed. its so hard to get stuff u want without spending money and im really lucky i have 3 terras. but oh god its so frustrating seeing people ask for. what even was it. asking for 14 myos. for 1 terra. it makes me so unvelievably angry!!

please god i need to hear you talk about farmhouse raph i love him So Mucj.

OK OK i saw this a while ago but i took the time to rewatch the farmhouse episodes to refresh my memory and i took NOTES. So here we go Let me just start this off by saying that the farmhouse arc is genuinely one of my favorite segments of the entire series, and Raph is one of the main reasons why. When you really sit down and watch what Raph does throughout these episodes, you begin to realize that he's actually a really reliable figure- he tries to cheer up Donnie when he's bummed out about April rejecting him, and he's always keeping an eye out on Leo and is constantly encouraging his recovery, and he's also a little more indulgent to Mikey's antics. And yeah yeah I know "The Croaking" exists (the episode where Mikey runs away), but that entire episode, and the fandom's perception of it, is so wack that I'll have to speak on it in a later post or something because damn it just pisses me off a little . a LITTLE bit! just a lil. I will pretend it doesn't exist until then. For some examples, let's start with Episode One, Within the Woods. Of course, Raph watched over Leo while he was recovering in the bathtub for months. The dedication. The loyalty. When April brings it up, he brushes it off as no big deal. He just cared that much to take care of him all of that time. It's so sweet. And it's even sweeter when, at the end of the episode, Leo reciprocates that sentiment by never leaving his side when he was recovering from being turned into a plant. Love them. Episode 2, A Foot too Big. One of my favorite episodes because despite all of the second-hand embarrassment I get from cringe king Donnie (and the scene at the end ugh), it's actually hilarious. So Donnie makes this music box with his picture in it, and he gives it to April, who, of course, rejects his advances by leaving in the most awkward manner one possibly can. Raph witnesses this entire thing, tells him straight up that it will never work between him and April, and then enthusiastically suggests that they go forest training to help cheer him up. This is the EXACT same thing he did with Leo when he just woke up from the bathtub. Exact Method.

Pictured: Brotherly Affection (Donnie and Raph are SUCH an underrated duo it is a SHAME they didn't get paired off more often) It's also really cute how Leo and Raph are co-leading the training in the following scene. He's still a little playfully mean but he gives actual constructive advice to Donnie and Mikey. It's also interesting to note that when the duo is running away from Bigfoot, they only turn back to fight when they find Raph in the woods again. Here's another thing I noted. There's a montage of Bigfoot generally being difficult to live with, and at some point, she takes a fucking shit in the bathtub. Raph brings her, Donnie, and Mikey outside so that bigfoot can teach them Forest Stealth while he goes to clean it up. I am 100% certain that if this was the Raph from season 1, he would not have done that. I am so serious. Raph from season 1 OR hell, SEASON 2, would have reasoned that since Donnie and Mikey wanted to bring Bigfoot home, they should be the ones to take full care of her. He doesn't even get mad- annoyed or frustrated, sure, but he doesn't yell at anyone, he doesn't place unfair blame on one person- none of that. Later on in the episode, Donnie vents to him about how Bigfoot is following him around and smothering him etc. To which Raph remarks something like, "Now you know how April feels." He's so real. There's just so much I can bring up. The fact that Raph not once ever goes too easy on Leo when they train together because he knows Leo would hate that. Raph enabling Mikey to draw on Leo's face while he sleeps. Raph somehow being the only one to bring his grappling hook when they were all (minus April and Leo) kidnapped by the Chimera Turducken thingy. Raph and Leo playing video games together. And overall, I noticed his anger-fueled outbursts aren't really that common anymore either. He's just trying his best to make sure his brothers are okay in the ways he knows how to. My sweet angel

Hi Anon! I’m humbled you have come to me with your questions! So, you are considering reading SVSSS? Good, good. It’s an extremely good novel. Even those who personally don’t like it consider it’s a good one. A bit of a warning though, if you are worried about the romance, and your words make me think you are, proceed with caution. I can assure you that never for a second will you doubt the two main characters love each other and it’s not a spoiler to say they end up together, but according to personal tastes some readers think it needs more of an expansion on the romance front. That depends on personal preferences of course. To me it was an extremely satisfying ending, but others would rather there would have been more said about the main characters as a couple. But! Don’t let this deter you from reading it! It will be worth your while!

Now, about your questions, since there will be spoilers I’ll answer under a cut, okay?

First an explanation:

Shen Yuan, the MC, lives in a modern setting in China. He reads a stallion novel (meaning it’s full of sex and low on feelings) on the internet which is about a man named Luo Binghe and his quest to becoming the overlord of his world. He acquires 600 hundreds wives on the way, as any self-respecting stallion novel main character would. One of Luo Binghe’s enemies is Shen Qingqiu, his former teacher who abused him. In our (SVSSS) fandom, the Luo Binghe and Shen Qingqiu of this stallion web novel are referred to as Original!Luo Binghe and Original!ShenQinqiu and they are not the main characters of what we are reading. You could say they characters of a parallel universe.

At the beginning of SVSSS Shen yuan dies and transmigrates into the novel he read occupying the character (and body) of Shen Qingqiu. Shen Yuan fully assimilates Shen Qingqiu’s role but he doesn’t want to become Luo Binghe’s enemy so he resolves to treat the, at the moment, young teenager LBH different thus changing the events of the original novel. This Luo Binghe falls for his teacher and never, at all, considers another romantic interest. In fact, he becomes rather obsessed with Shen Qingqiu to the point where the novel touches on some controversial topics. Keep this in mind

Because Shen Qinqiu (his former name, Shen Yuan, is never mentioned again) has to follow the most important key points of the original novel he has to ‘betray’ Luo Binghe by throwing him from a cliff into a place of horror and agony called “the abyss” accusing him from being irredeemable because of his nature as a Heavenly Demon. Because Luo Binghe actually considers this a betrayal and Shen Qingqiu a hypocrite, he is angry upon his return but has not become evil, as Shen Qingqiu feared he would. SQQ doesn’t realize this however and is very afraid of what LBH will do to him.

The rest of the novel is full of misunderstandings between the two of them because SQQ acts according to his knowledge of the original novel and the accurate but incomplete information the System (the entity which helped Shen Yuan transmigrate) gives him. Some misunderstandings get cleared up along the way and lots of interesting secrets are uncovered but SQQ and LBH don’t get together until the very end when SQQ finally stops acting according to what he thinks he knows and sees LBH for who he really is.

I may or may not have cried when it happened.

There are extras (additional chapters) where we can see more of them as a couple and some expand on the thoughts and feelings of the characters of the original novels.

As I said before, I loved this novel because it’s a roller coaster of emotions. Although there are misunderstanding and many readers have declared they wanted to go inside the novel and slap the characters, it also moves at a breakneck speed so one is not left frustrated for long.
