Saw you like Lilo and Stitch. And had to come tell you.
Nani? Is absolutely amazing. She raises Lilo, on her own. She tries to be both sister and mother. The shelter scene? Perfection.
Letting Jumba and Pleakey (I totally forgot spelling) staying with them once they're good?
Anyway. Just
Nani is amazing.
Correct, yes, absolutely!

what i love about the 2000s disney movies is that the protagonists are deeply flawed and complex
lilo is a little girl deemed “crazy”, seen as a “threat”, that in reality is bullied and lonely; she’s lost her parents and she will likely be taken away from her older sister. she has a lot of unique interests and habits. she’s a perfect example of a neurodivergent kid - and indeed bullied by a white girl and her light-skinned friends. lilo though doesn’t need to adapt herself for them. she’s happy enough with nani, stitch, pleakey, jumba, david and bubbles. she doesn’t need to please her bullies
kenai is a young teenager that spouts what’s basically toxic masculinity. kenai kills a bear - a mother, as we learn eventually - out of pure rage and grief of losing his older brother. maybe in a way kenai blamed himself for sitka dying for him, so he tried to take it out on the closest thing near him. kenai talks about “being a man means doing something”. he suddenly becomes the older responsible brother to a little kid, and he learns to grow up and face the consequences. he’s able to choose love, because men are allowed to love and cry, instead of acting out of violence. kenai is one of the deepest characters i’ve ever seen in an animated movie for kids
jim from treasure planet, he’s basically a delinquent, and he knows his mother is struggling. they lose their home, and jim blames himself for it. that’s how he gets in the pirate role in the first place, besides the fact he’s fascinated about pirates. in reality we learn jim was regularly neglected by his father and abandoned at a very young age. jim outright admits he hates himself for acting out like this, before silver goes to comfort him. he’s very similar to silver, a guy led by pure greed. he’s not only an accurate teenager, but a traumatized and neglected teenager. he also lets silver go in the end.
milo is probably the most “pure” out of these characters, but he’s still a little weird nerd painfully very white. he’s rejected by everyone when trying to give knowledge to the world. milo never explores atlantis for colonization purposes, instead he wants to learn more and help expand their culture. milo lives all by his own at the beginning, likely he doesn’t have a family since he only mentions his beloved grandfather. milo was living all by his own before meeting the atlantis crew. and he’s indeed bullied by them for being this weird little passionate dude that causes a fire

“We are NOT dressing up my animal in a halloween costume.”
Apparently, I was not done writing baby Race. But a little short and sweet one for today.
Two years ago, then 13-year-old Charlie Morris Kelly - Larkin met the love of his life.
His dog, Louie.
Technically speaking, Louie is a service dog. People generally will move out of the way for a golden retriever like Louie, but not a teenager with a leg brace and cane.
Go figure.
Now at 15years old, there are very few places Charlie will go without his dog. Including, taking his younger brother trick or treating.
“We are not dressing up my dog in a Halloween costume!.” Charlie told his brother for what seemed like the hundredth time.
“But Charlie,” Race pleaded, pulling out his puppy dog eyes, “think about how cute he’d look in this.” Race shoved his phone up to Charlie’s face, showing him the Halloween costume he’d picked out.
And fine, Charlie will admit it, the costume is cute.
“See, Louies gonna dress up as Stitch, and I’m gonna be Lilo, and you and Jack are gonna be Pleakley and Jumba. Your Pleakey, obviously and-”
“Race slow down! I ain’t said yes yet! And what about Jack, does he know about this? Hey? What does he think?”
“I asked Jackie this morning when he dropped me off at school. He already said yes, as long as you were ok with it.”
Of fucking course Jack did. Making Charlie choose whether to break Races heart or not.
Asshole.
Charlie sighed, knowing he’d lost the battle ever since Race approached him with the idea. He tried one more last ditch effort to get out of it.
“Who's gonna be Nani, and where are you even gonna get these costumes from? It's way too late to order” Race rolled his eyes.
“Obviously Katherine is going to be Nani and Mama told me we could borrow costumes from the theatre.” Race smiled up at Charlie, knowing as well as he did how this was going to end.
Charlie looks over his brother once, searching for the ability to say no to him.
It’s not something he's ever been able to do.
“Fine -” Race throws himself in his brother's arms.
“Thank you thank you thank you” Charlie chuckled and grabbed his brother back.
“Easy on the leg Race. and I love ya too.” Charlie ruffled Race’s hair, “Go show me what you’ve got to make Louie's costume and we’ll work on it together hey?” Race beamed and ran off to his room.
Charlie saying yes was always a sure thing.
Let me know what you think!!

Pearl as Pleakey... you know, all things considered not a bad comparison 👍
Sometimes I think I could say anything on this blog and half a dozen of you would be like 'ah yes, Pearl's arc does mirror Lightning McQueen's in several interesting ways, amazing insight Taz'.
Pearl is a total Pleakley though.

Here's a fun game, what disney movies will match the AC couples?
Tv is tangled. Gabriel has massive mother grothel vibes and tv zira is Rapunzel
Ok so in the book, zira and Crowley aren’t the main characters, they kick the plot off but Adam becomes the star half way in. So I’m going with Jumba and Pleakley from lilo and stitch. Aziraphale as Pleakey trying to find the antichrist for noble reasons and just kinda doing a bad job and Crowley as Jumba since he lost the antichrist to begin with
Radio is like somewhere between jumba and pleakey and timone and pumba. More of a jumba and pleakey dynamic but they are never apart like timone and pumba and were always kinda doing their own thing until they got roped into the plot and were forced to raise a kid together.
I can also equate book or radio to Basil and Watson from the great mouse detective because dynamics and I consider them a gay Disney mouse couple.
I know, I know you said movies not characters but good omens isn’t exactly like a Disney movie and the only princess I relate to any aziraphale is Rapunzel and even then it’s mainly for the show aziraphale
The script it’s like...dude I don’t know. They don’t fit dynamics unless you really want to stretch and ship an innocent sweet princess (I can relate Cinderella or Rapunzel again to script zira) with a villain like Gaston or Ratigan or maybe hades? I’m just thinking of self absorbed villains since script Crowley literally only thinks of himself

Jumba’s New Quest for The Little Mermaid Event in Disney Magic Kingdoms
Gotta love Jumba and Lilo interactions, pretty cute scene! This wraps up  the Pelekai beach party storyline.
In case your wondering Jumba and Pleakey don’t appear in that main story line with the other characters since they were the only two characters of the set you had to buy. If you did have them for the event they got two quests of their own!

Beauty and the beast
Beauty and the Beast - the rant. Disney declared their first gay character in this movie. Fair enough - except it's really not (see Agent pleakey as transgender or gender fluid and Oaken as gay) - so if they're telling us this then there must really be something in the film right? Wrong. Aside for loving/wanting looks for afar and imitating his love interest there was nothing. No declarations of love or attempted kisses. He dances with a man briefly at the end of the film and that's about it. So I have to wonder..... Why declare anything at all. Disney had to know it would cost them a few foreign markets (it did), so why bother? I have to think that this was a testing shot across the board to see what the reaction would be. Last year there was a campaign to make a lead character in a certain sequel gay...are Disney actually thinking about it? Or is it for another film because that's all that makes sense. Regardless progress is progress no matter how small and all praise to Josh Gad who was absolutely amazing in this.
