Playing with the Boys
"Think about it. You. Me. Mirrored sunglasses" said Evan as he showed Tommy the couple's costume, "Playing with the Boys in the background as we start the party. It would be perfect, right?"
"I never said I didn't like costumes, I was just on call, Evan," explained Tommy as he took Evan's phone and really looked at the costumes, "You just like me in pilot uniforms, don't you?"
Not that Tommy was complaining. He wouldn't mind seeing Evan in a pilot uniform either.
"What? A guy can't have good taste?" asked Evan, his smile infectious.
His eyes so hopeful. And it wasn't as if Tommy was against dressing up, especially for Halloween.
"Okay, okay, we can dress up as Maverick and Iceman for Halloween," said Tommy as Evan beamed, "On the condition that we actually talk through whose who. We're not both coming as Maverick or something. That's not a couple's costume. That's just an accidental who wore it best."
Evan snorted, leaning so that he was barely a centimeter away from Tommy, his hand on the back of Tommy's head.
"That can definitely be arranged," said Evan, pulling Tommy into a kiss.
And Tommy let himself get lost in that wondrous kiss.
my contribution to the MHA/Top Gun fandoms. idk if anyone else has this specific brain worm but here i am lol
i’ve been thinking about Top Gun since mid-August and recently thought to cross my interests, thus top gun mha au (and its krbk as icemav because i’m nothing if not predictable)
(the backgrounds are from the Top Gun (1986) movie)
if you want to know more about my little au idea just keep reading
this is just a word dump i put in my notes app to get the idea out of my head initially. nothing is concrete and i’m not promising to write anything. some friends and i have been bouncing ideas
Lieutenant Katsuki “Dynamite” Bakugou
LTJG Izuku “Deku” Midoriya
Lieutenant Eijirou “Riot” Kirishima
LTJG Mina “Acidman” Ashido
so initially i thought in terms of hair color, kirishima being the maverick stand in and bakugou being the ice stand in. BUT THEN i thought of the ANGST POTENTIAL IF IZUKU IS KILLED OFF. so now they’re more blended where bakugou looses deku in the accident like mav looses goose but bakugou’s personality is closer to ice’s being so blunt and calculating. and kirishima also having a strong personality of course, with a hidden feeling of inadequacy as is canon accurate
SONG FIVE: Playing with the Boys by This is Falling (Cover, original by Kenny Loggins)
COMMENTARY: We all know why this is here. With the first song I made it clear I’ll be using some of the songs that were tied to their moments on the show, so you can probably expect two more. I kept the cover they used for authenticity, and the band did a really good job with it. I am upset with the bait and switch they pulled in this episode because it fueled the more toxic Buddie shippers to believe this was about Eddie, and I’ll admit it was a dick move from the writers to do that to them (writing wise it was iconic, shipping wise it was demonic), but regardless even if Buddie goes canon or not I guess we share a song. It’s the perfect song for a homosexual awakening.
ABOUT THE EDIT: I know I made a post some time ago about edit five being hilarious, but I moved that song and edit to be after this one since the edit makes more sense in that place, so sorry if you expected a chuckle or two. The edit is pretty clear. It’s a more retro song with synths and it was from a 90’s movie, so I decided to go for that vibe, or whatever my older Gen Z mind thought the vibe of that time was. Also I really liked the gradient.
I love listening to “I Ain’t Worried” and fantasizing about the beach scene as much as the next person, but lately I can’t stop listening to “Playing with the Boys” and fantasizing about the OG volleyball scene 😂
they should invent a new type of "staying in bed for 2-3 hours after you wake up repeatedly opening and closing apps on your phone" where it makes you feel awesome and energized and emotionally fulfilled
“horror movies of the 1980s exist at the glorious watershed when special visual effects finally catch up with the gory imaginings of horror fans and movie makers. technical advances in special effects (animatronics, liquid and foam latex) meant the human frame could be distorted to grotesque new dimensions on screen. 1980s horror movies delivered the full colour close-up, look-no-strings-attached, special effect in a way that previous practitioners of the art could only dream about. everything lurking in the shadows in older horror movies was now dragged into the garish light of day. the monsters were finally out of the closet.”
