I turn 50 this year.

I started warning my friends last year that I was planning to pull out all the stops. As an adult, I've found it incredibly hard to get anyone else to throw me a party. Between my family all being born in the same month, my parents both being precisely 25 years older than I am, and Birthday Month being a total nightmare with Too Many Things in it, I'm kinda screwed.

Last year my oldest and dearest friend turned 50, one day after my birthday. I offered to throw her a 50th party, but we wound up with a conflict and she deliberately chose not to have a party.

I've come to the decision to have a Merfolk/Pirate theme. "Mermaids and Mer-Mateys!"

I'm looking into renting a private pool, and this year's favorite pool host just informed me that I should be able to rent the whole house! I'm in negotiations now.

I intend to prevail upon my friends to take on certain party responsibilities for me. I've found a Decorator Director, and I'm discussing how to deal with a glass-free pirate bar with a different friend.

I may have to throw a fundraiser to pay for the space, but I hope that my friend circle would be willing to pitch in.
