Listen up!

I am a Pilgrim now 😂
But for real, this summer my husband and I hesitated between Scotland and Sweden for our holidays.
Finally we decided to go to Stockholm, so now I'm planning to visit some museums (Vikings museum, ABBA Museum,...) and a certain recording studio called RMV. Yup. That's where Meliora from Ghost was recorded. One of my favorite albums.
I am so f*cking impatient. Like a child really. I'm going to see soooo many beautiful castles and architectural monuments. Also the city reminds me of Venice (which I had visited and loved). Moreover I'll sleep in a hotel which is in a boat.
I can't wait to visit Tobias's country. I have to learn Swedish even more now! (I've already started but I'm a bit procrastinating). I study thanks to Duolingo btw 🤓

I'll post some pictures of that beautiful town for ya, if you want ❤️

Are you starting to feel the holiday spirit!? Why not get your favorite blorbos in the holiday spirit as well? From December 14th to December 25th we'll be celebrating the 12 Days of Diarmute on this blog!
I threw this event together last minute after some people in the discord showed interest in a holiday event. If you would like to participate: Draw a picture, write a fic, make a moodboard or gifset, do SOMETHING creative revolving around the prompt for each day and post it on Tumblr! Tag the post #12daysofdiarmute and I will be tracking the tag and reblogging every submission!
Do as many or as little prompts as you'd like! If you can only do one, that's okay, you can still participate! I, myself, will try my best to fill some prompts but this is a notoriously busy season for me... but I wanted to give other Pilgrimage fans the chance to revel in some fandom holiday cheer!
Reblog this post to spread the word and let me know if you plan on participating! Nollaig shona!

Traveling Tips from the Bible
Click here to book your flight and hotel save up to 70% discount and even more with the app
Traveling, whether for pilgrimage, exploration, or leisure, has been a significant theme throughout biblical texts. The Scriptures offer wisdom that extends beyond spiritual enlightenment, providing timeless guidance for those embarking on journeys. By examining key biblical passages, we can glean practical and moral principles that enhance the travel experience.
Firstly, the Bible emphasizes the importance of preparation. Proverbs 21:5 states, “The plans of the diligent lead surely to abundance.” Effective planning is essential in terms of itinerary, budgeting, and safety. Travelers are encouraged to research their destinations thoroughly, ensuring that they are equipped to handle various circumstances. This reflects a responsible approach to travel that aligns with biblical wisdom.

Moreover, the Bible advocates for a spirit of hospitality and kindness. In Hebrews 13:2, it is written, “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.” This principle encourages travelers to engage with local cultures and communities, fostering goodwill and understanding. By practicing openness and generosity, travelers not only enrich their own experiences but also contribute positively to the places they visit.
In addition to preparation and hospitality, the Bible teaches the importance of seeking peace during travel. Matthew 10:13 advises, “If the home is worthy, let your peace come upon it.” This suggests that travelers should remain respectful and adaptable, allowing for the possibility of unexpected challenges. Maintaining a peaceful demeanor can lead to more fruitful interactions and memorable experiences.

Lastly, spiritual reflection is a vital aspect of traveling according to the Scriptures. Jesus often withdrew to solitary places to pray (Luke 5:16), emphasizing the significance of reconnecting with one's faith amidst the chaos of travel. Taking moments for reflection and gratitude can enhance the journey, making it not only a physical adventure but also a spiritual odyssey. In conclusion, the Bible offers valuable insights for modern travelers. Through preparation, hospitality, a commitment to peace, and spiritual reflection, individuals can undertake their journeys with purpose and moral integrity. By adhering to these principles, travelers can ensure that their experiences are enriching both personally and communally, resonating with the wisdom of the ages.

Nepal Pilgrimage Tour
The Nepal Pilgrimage Tour offers a spiritual and scenic journey through diverse geographical regions, encompassing significant religious sites and breathtaking landscapes. One of the highlights of this pilgrimage is the visit to the birthplace of Lord Gautam Buddha, the founder of Buddhism. Lumbini, located in the Rupandehi District of Nepal, is a UNESCO World Heritage site where pilgrims can explore the sacred garden, Maya Devi Temple, and other monastic ruins associated with Buddha's early life.
Another sacred destination on this spiritual odyssey is Muktinath, a revered temple that holds significance for both Hindus and Buddhists. Nestled in the Annapurna region, Muktinath is known for its eternal flame and 108 water spouts, believed to cleanse pilgrims of their sins. The journey to Muktinath is not only a religious experience but also a chance to marvel at the stunning mountainous landscapes along the way.
For an exhilarating experience, the tour includes a thrilling cable car ride in Kurintar. This modern mode of transportation provides panoramic views of the surrounding hills and valleys, offering a unique perspective of the Nepalese terrain.
As the pilgrimage progresses, participants will traverse through winding roads that unveil the diverse topography of Nepal. From lush greenery to rugged mountainous terrain, the journey provides a visual feast for travelers, allowing them to witness the country's natural beauty.
Overall, the Nepal Pilgrimage Tour combines spiritual exploration with an adventure through the varied landscapes of Nepal, offering a holistic and enriching travel experience for those seeking both inner peace and awe-inspiring scenery.

Context Matters
For the past couple of weeks, I was away in Israel with one of my children. We went to participate and celebrate the Bar Mitzvah of one of his closest friends. During the Bar Mitzvah brunch, the Bar Mitzvah boy’s mother shared that part of her goal for celebrating in Israel was to give context to their Jewish living. I was struck by the word Context, recognizing that in the realm of spirituality…

Chanukah is a minor holiday in that it's not a biblical holiday (one where our modern traditions replaced a pilgrimage to the temple/or are still in practice from that time. ie passover dinner replaced a pilgrimage while keeping shabbat was able to be maintained without the temple)
The story of Chanukah is still REALLY important to us and the traditions we built around it are SO GREAT AND FANTASTIC. and it would be so COOL for people to learn about it properly
EDIT: i realize i needed to be more clear. major and minor kinda imply the wrong way to think about our holidays. the distinction is more about where/when the holidays came from. Major = traditions directly from biblical times or or recent traditions adjusted for a post-temple world. Minor = holiday story and traditions both from post-biblical times
You know, I spend so much energy this time of year pushing back against so many misconceptions about Chanukah, I think sometimes I do it a disservice.
Because yes, it's a relatively minor Jewish holiday... but it is deeply important, and I love it.
Yes, many people misunderstand it. But the Chanukah story is a story of hope, of courage, of war, of miracles, of persistence, of faith, of dedication, and of surviving against all the odds.
Yes, gift-giving has nothing to do with Chanukah traditionally... but it is traditional to give children coins to help pay for their education, and I think that says something beautiful about the value we place on learning and on future generations.
Yes, corporations heard about Chanukah and totally misunderstood it in their attempts to commercialize it... but we have absolutely delightful games and songs and foods that are a joy to share with family and with a community.
Yes, Chanukah is constantly beset by the forces of assimilation... but it is a holiday about holding to our identity and resisting assimilation at any cost, and the fact that we are still celebrating it today is proof that we have succeeded at this for thousands of years.
Yes, it is not a holiday primarily focused on peace and love in the way some people may think it is, but I sure do feel great peace and love when I dance with my family and and see the flames in the oil cups dancing along beside the window.
Chag sameach.
Yes, I really do love Chanukah.
