So funny Viktor chooses to present himself to Jayce as a white-golden robot (considering it is shown he could possess one of his followers) despite his representative colors being purple and blue (during s2 arc 1 and arc 2 and as the Herald Machine). But for the very specific purpose of convincing Jayce to join him, he's represented in the colors associated with Mel. Literally CATWALKING into the room, which is an action associated with Mel too

Something I think about a lot is the order in which the Strawhats joined, how that affects their relationships, and how we as a fandom perceive them (this is about the Romance Dawn trio and Sanuso, by the way).

Zoro and Nami were the first two to join Luffy. The Romance Dawn trio. Luffy's first mate and Luffy's navigator. Luffy's anchor and Luffy's compass. He would not know what to do if something happened to them. And of course he loves all the Strawhats. Of course he does. But there's just something about Zoro and Nami that it's personal and intimate in a different way. It's not that they're more important to Luffy, but they're their special people. Their main two. His specialest boy and his specialest girl. Whatever. The thing is that, if we consider this inside the East Blue crew, it just makes sense that Sanuso were so close at the start.

I'm always mentioning how much I miss pre-ts Sanuso because they had more scenes together, whether I referred to background silly scenes or important, character-driven ones. But it's quite literally because they were the only two left. Let me explain:

Sanji has this thing about not wanting to take up much space. Like, his whole personality is to serve and please others, and he isn't used to taking what he wants. Usopp is an anxious mess and he thinks he doesn't deserve to be where he is because he assumes the others are stronger and better than him. They just naturally feel out of place. And they're sharing a ship and an adventure with three other people that, apart from knowing each other before meeting them, they take up so much space in the world without a care. They're shamelessly taking what they want. Slicing people in two, stealing, becoming kings. That leaves Sanji and Usopp in a place of-- Not really loneliness, that's their family now and for once they feel like they belong somewhere but, y'know, they belong without feeling like they deserve it.

I think Sanuso works so well, too, because of their numbers. Usopp was the third one to join. Sanji the fourth. Usopp joined when the Romance Dawn trio was already a thing and he actually hesitated about joining them. And Sanji then met them when they were already like, an actual crew and not just some idiots (well, they are. But y'know, at least four people is better than just two). That thing about 'three's a crowd' and all that? Well, I think there's just some sort of barrier between the Romance Dawn trio and Sanji/Usopp. Not really because, again, they have their own bonds and it works in different ways and the East Blue crew is extremely intimate but please tell me you see what I mean. The Romance Dawn trio wouldn't be a thing if I wasn't right here.

So Sanji and Usopp bond for being the third and the fourth and I think the fact that they don't feel like they belong in the place they should feel at home the most just shows that they just... Feel like they don't belong anywhere. Except when they're together. They're alone together. I think that's why they work so well.

Reyna And The Lost Hero

WHEN REYNA WAKES UP, she immediately knows something is wrong.

You know that deep-seated feeling of wrong, wrong, wrong you feel when something is deeply off, somewhere? That’s how she feels, and Reyna has no idea how she can even describe that.

When she wakes up, her head is on the shoulder of a girl with brown hair, said hair tickling her face. Reyna pushes it out of her mouth and sits up, blinking slowly as she takes her environment in cautiously.

A few dozen teenagers talk, sleep, play music, or eat each other’s faces in front of her. Reyna glances around and comes to the magical conclusion that she’s in a bus, from common sense.

“Reyna, you okay?”

Reyna glances up and feels her mouth go dry. The girl she was sleeping on is very pretty. Her hair is cut at different lengths, her lips are chapped, and her eyes seem to flicker between green and gold as she watches Reyna with worry in them.

“I, er-”

“Alright, cupcakes! Listen up!”

The man that stands up in the aisle had a thin goatee and a sour face, like he’d just been told he got the grand detention of cleaning the toilets. His scowl has Reyna’s shoulders instantly pricking up straight.

One of the kids calls out, “Stand up, Coach Hedge!” Reyna has half a mind to slap him for such public disobedience and stupidity. Shorter people are more liable to kick your feet out from under you.

“I heard that!” The coach’s beady eyes scan the bus and fix on Reyna. Reyna’s shoulders tense impossibly further, her lips settling into a neutral line and eyes widening faintly-dangerously. It’s an expression her face seems to settle into instinctually.

His scowl deepens, and he looks away, clearing his throat. “We’ll arrive in five minutes! Don’t lose your partner, don’t lose your worksheet, and if you cause any trouble, I am sending you back to campus on this bus in a bag.”

Reyna instantly glances down and fishes about her backpack. A case of stationery and a worksheet with…

“What’s today’s date? What’s the worksheet? Who’s my partner?”

The pretty girl furrows her eyes but answers the question, points out the worksheet-in her backpack, thankfully-and apparently, she’s Reyna’s partner.

Which would be fantastic if Reyna hadn’t forgotten her name.

“Jeez, get hit with amnesia much?”

The boy that grins at her from the seat in front can only be described as the person authority picks as most likely to cause trouble. It’s his slouch, the mischievous twinkle in his eyes, and the smirk on his lips.

Reyna suddenly has a deep urge to dislike him.

…wait, what did he say?

“What did you say?”

“Aww, dream bad jokes while in sleepyland?”

“No, that word. The…ammesa?”

“…Amnesia? Dude, mispronouncing words now too? Not like you, that smack on…the head…did you bad…”

Now the boy and girl look at her with concern.

“What’s my name?” the girl asks.

Reyna’s eyes flick about her clothes. Faded jeans, practical hiking boots, a thick jacket. No name or convenient tablet-

A stab of pain shoots through her skull and Reyna bites her lips hard enough to draw blood. It’s her only reaction.

“Okay, dude, I finally admit you have a sense of humour, okay? Stop it, this ain’t funny.” The boy reaches out to flick Reyna’s arm. She stops him with a hand on his wrist and he pulls back with a sharp hiss. “Geez, go easy!”

“Leo,” says the girl. “I don’t think she’s joking. Can you say my name? Do you know where we’re going? Who you are?”

Reyna wants to open her mouth and speak.

Who am I?

…

Reyna.

I’m Reyna.

…

But who am I?

I’m Reyna.

…

BUT WHO AM I?

“I…I don’t know.”

Idk why I find the fact Mihawk writes Y/N Reader inserts so funny but so true and I have reader inserts blocked on here like I hate them but oh my god so in character for him.

And he does not give a shit. Absolutely go king and getting fantasy dicked down by all the hot guys in one piece world I support! Also him being a sengoku shipper iconic. I was say maybe he thinks about Kuzan but I think he’s out off by his general laziness and apathy and not in a fun apathetic way like Barsolino in a depression way. ( he’s looking in a mirror and does not like it.) but if he learns Dragon used to be a marine and friends with Akainu he’s making the most toxic relationship of them friends to enemies to nemesis type shit.

He’ll write a new book and it will be a sensation and no matter the fact he changed the names everyone with a brain cell will be able to figure out who it’s about.

YES YES YES!!! I don't really like self insert stuff either but it's so in-character for him I'm so obsessed.

And yeah it really is just the adventures of reader as they travel across the grand line getting dicked down is definitely one of his most beloved and acclaimed series. Shanks goes hot and cold on that series a lot because while the idea of watching mihawk getting dicked down by another man is very hot Shanks is also a jealous man and he is very jealous of these "fictional" men. He tries to find out if mihawk has ever fucked any of them in real life and maybe 👀.

Also yeah I just threw in the marine thing because I thought it was funny but I'm glad it stuck out! 😂. I don't think he self ships with any of the marines (maybe in his GILF era sengoku or fujitoro) I think because none of the really strong marines appeal to him but he would fuck smoker if he was stronger. and just because I remembered dude and I think it would be so funny imagine if his only self x marine ship is with Ryokugyu (the tree admiral) I think he'd hate him in life but he's not blind. I think this realllllly pisses shanks off because he does not like him and honestly its a bit of a snake eating his own tail because a lot of the reason he doesn't like him is because of Mihawk's fanfiction of him.

I think Mihawk's natural reaction (mostly because it's mine) is to ship Sengoku with Garp but he hates Garp and even the thought of picturing him in that way is enough to make him want to pour his ears to bleach his brain. I think it be funny if during one of his lackadaisical checking out marine headquarters rooms (because realistically who is going to stop him) he stumbles upon and old picture of Garp Sengoku and Tsuru when they were young and he is very intrigued by thetwo hot young men then he notices that one of them is Garp and he almost throws up, the thought wont leave him alone tho.

Also yes i don't think Mihawk actually knows dragon but he has definitely heard of him and being Garps son is enough cause for pettitness in his eyes. Dragon's identity is a little harder to parse out I the books but Akainu's is so fucking obvious. And it is a loved and well-cherished series. Anytime that Mihawk attends a warlord meeting or just genuinely has an unpleasant interaction with akainu (which is every interaction) he puts pen to paper. It'd be funny if this was the most "tame" series though more focused on the fictional romace which confuses dragon and pisses akainu off even more because what? do they think he can't take it? and mihawk is very pleased with himself. he drops a new edition right before he goes to any warlord meeting so he can watch akainu seethe in real time as the new talk of the town takes root (this series specifically is very popular in marine towns)

as for the real life identities. I think he definitely makes it a bit hard not to protect anyone. Still, because he thinks it's fun to make people guess and adds to the mystery so there is definitely a fan club (which Shanks leads) dedicated to putting the clues together on just who all the different men are (shanks needs this for....research purposes 👀) some of them are obvious if you're in the know like the Benn ones or Crocodile while others are just plain obvious because the Red Haired Emperor is definitely shanks like if you know shanks you know its him there is only two people with hair that red. It's not kidd( it does give both kidd and shanks a bit of a reputation of some islands because his book counterpart is infinitely more dashing and "masculine" that shanks' bum and kid's manica energies) and I think he makes the Akianu ones very obvious to anybody that literally even if you've just ever heard of him you know its him just to fuck with him.

@extravagantliar - question, in the space of donations to the mourn watch and other high ranking officials in the grand necropolis, we know there is obviously ethics around it, but is there any moral quandary with the use of others, or is it more of giving things new purpose and life?

so this is something i've been thinking about a lot, actually, with regard to manfred especially.  mostly because manfred's body, is, essentially, a cobbled-together skeleton from spare parts; like we know his ribs were a gift (the question is from where and who), and he picked his own skull from donations (again, where and who did it come from and i could write reams about manfred's skull in particular because it shares very similar - but not exact! - features to emmrich's skull bc i've spent so much time looking at both, yes, manfred picked a skull that would leave he and emmrich favoring one another if he had flesh i said what i said).  and we know his arms came from a charnel pit, which i imagine in reference to the mourn watch and the necropolis in general is exactly what it says it is on the tin:  just a pit full of piles of bones with no quote-unquote owner; a bones-r-us of dismembered body parts, basically.

we also don't know where the rest of his body came from, like…his fingers and toes, or his legs and pelvis.  his spine.  my assumption is - i'm writing a huge long post about manfred that's taking me way too long bc i've gotta scrape together all the dialogue, that's not exactly about this but includes it - that his whole body is made of various bits and bobs from here and there because of the idea that the corpse used to house a spirit colors the undead's actions and personality.  or, in other words, a whole corpse will cause a spirit to exhibit traits of the deceased (audric is a good example of this - technically that's not the audric that was alive, but there's enough of him in there that essentially it's audric, you get me?), manfred is mostly just manfred, because there's no one particular remnant pulling his personality in any direction.  there may be echoes, but essentially manfred is his own little dude.

like…essentially reduce, reuse, recycle is what they're doing anyway.  emmrich more than once laments the fact that the rest of thedas burns their dead (that bit about all those fine mansions burned to ash, and how he got green around the gills witnessing a funeral outside of nevarra), because raising the dead for various jobs - construction, cooking, etc - is normal in the necropolis especially.  there are rules to it, sure, and i'm sure the nobility are safe from clearing sand out of the shrouded halls (probably much to emmrich's disgruntlement lbr, mans really said the only good noble is a dead one), but like…that's what the average person can expect for their body after death.  it's what mourn watch members can expect after death, too, they're pledged to eternal vigil.

and then you get into the wibbly wobbly bits about the body needing to be whole (mummification and preserving organs) because if you're missing things in the quote-unquote real world you'll be missing them in the afterlife - it's partially why the hand of glory is such a no-no, you're harming the soul as well as the body to make one.  but, you know, sometimes there are things like mass graves, and sometimes bodies can't be identified or put back together, and the necropolis is so big, and so old, there are probably loads of bodies that have gotten scattered and can't be identified and put back together, or the skull can't be found for a corpse whisperer to have a chat with, and i imagine that's where the charnel pits come from.  like there are probably rules about what you can build from those spare parts (no 180 ft bone constructs to violently take over nevarra, for example), but also i imagine they're most frequently used for repairing skeleton workers and guards when they're damaged or for slapping together new ones as needed.

which is a really long-winded way to say yes, i think there are rules concerning where you can source the bones/parts from (charnel pits - okay, scattered bones you find somewhere outside - probably okay, bodies that have been donated to necropolis operations - okay, gifts - okay, filching from someone's tomb while they're lying in state - not okay), and what you can make out of them (manfred - okay, johanna's monstrosity - not okay), but also that there's a practical…there's no way to identify these bodies and the parts are just here in a big pile so you might as well make use of them kind of thing.  like they revere the dead and spirits, sure, but it's not all whimsical idealistic twaddle, there's a practicality in making use of that which can't be reclaimed with a name or a story.

eta: also! let's not forget they keep intruders' bodies and put them to work so...make of that what you will.

btw etsy is doing this incredibly annoying thing that, unless i add tracking to my orders - Which I Do Not Have The Resources To Offer And It Would Increase Shipping Prices Considerably - they're gonna hold on to a third of the money i make from sales for an additional 45 days after :') just because i haven't been using my etsy shop for a while, so it's "suspicious" - even though i HAVE used it in the past and never received complaints about my orders. haha!! what a user friendly platform!!!!!

not to mention all the recommendations like "you know, if you offer free shipping you'll sell better :)" "1-3 days processing time is worse for sales than 1-2 days processing time, you should REALLY CONSIDER going for that one instead :)" "you should add videos of your wares, it'll sell better :)" when i just. i just wanna sell my little pieces of paper i have been drawing on. i just want a convenient and accessible storefront and sell things in a way that is convenient and accesible to me. is it really So Much to ask for
