They know they can no longer directly target fat and autistic people the way they did in the 2000s so they've shifted gears to grossing people out with kink imagery, a tried and true tool of the fascist. The intended message is that all human/animal interactions, including pet ownership, are innately sexual, degenerate and ought to be punished. They are no different than the red senator who uses photoshopped images of children petting dudes in pup hoods to drum up support for the death penalty of openly trans people "child predators". The nature of PETA's campaigns may be absurd and their goals may be deeply unpopular, but make no mistake, they are cut from the same cloth and boiling it down to "haha I would the MILF hucow" is exactly how they want people who don't ascribe to their ideology to react

in 2020 PETA declared they're retiring the "fur is dead" campaign & focusing their energies on wool instead. last week they released a video "what would you do if you saw someone beaten for their sweater?" featuring a man beating up a woman and stealing her wool sweater. this is the EXACT same video as PETA's 2002 "fur is dead" video of a woman killed for her fur coat.

PETA is using the exact same tactics they used to destroy the fur industry and turning it to the already struggling wool industry. it's not hyperbolic to say fur was just the first of the materials PETA wanted to stigmatize. wool is struggling because it can't compete with the cheap price of plastic (acrylic) sweaters.

they're iconic "id rather go naked then wear fur" campaign is being reborn into their "wool is as bad as fur" campaign featuring naked women holding fake dead lambs.

this is so dystopian to me... pushing plastic as the animal friendly alternative to an organic product.

Last Christmas my uncle got a catboy for my aunt and they had to give him up after only a few months. It was really sad to watch and I hate that it happens to a lot of families every year.

I'd heard for years the stat that PETA killed 94% of all animals they claimed to rescue, but was never sure it wasn't just someone spreading counter-information for some other agenda until I saw this report today by The Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services from 2010.

The sentence "90% were euthanized within the first 24 hours" really jumps out.
