The more that I look in the details, the more of Your goodness I find. - "Counting My Blessings" by Seph Schlueter
I was driving home today from the gym listening to this song, and I was so overwhelmed with gratitude that I nearly started crying. God has done so much in my heart and in my life in the past three months. And when I look back, I can directly trace many, many of those blessings to deep sorrow I've experiences over the last year or so. If the hard stuff hadn't happened, I know without a doubt that some of those recent blessings would not have come about. My life feels completely transformed and I have a hope I didn't have four months ago. In hindsight, I can see God's hand using the hardship. He didn't let my pain go to waste. He has redeemed things and healed things that I thought were forever broken. And seeing that has filled my heart with a level of trust in Him and His plan that I haven't experienced in a long time--if I ever have.
My prayer is that God's will be done in my life. Whatever is ahead--even if hard times resurface and the sheer happiness I'm feeling right now diminishes--I know He's got me, and He's working things out for my good.
"And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." Romans 8:28

Whilst it's great to hear about the research and practice of D&D and TTRPGs being used in therapy, it's also good to hear personal testimony. Here a player talks about how it helped combat Depression.

What a beautiful telling of a UFO experience in Finland. These sisters have no context for the phenomena. They call the UFO the moon that has fallen out of the sky...

Put to the Test
Today's podcast emphasizes that God is fully aware of our lives and seeks to lead us, even into uncomfortable spaces. We often resist His demands, letting our personal feelings hinder our growth. Accepting God's call means allowing Him to shape us.
Today’s podcast emphasizes that God is fully aware of our lives and seeks to lead us, even into uncomfortable spaces. We often resist His demands, letting our personal feelings hinder our growth. Accepting God’s call means allowing Him to shape us. In 1 Corinthians 1:2, believers are reminded that they are called to be holy people. This message highlights the difference between having a vision…

Where Does My Help Come From?
Introduction Last year, my wife, father-in-law, and I moved from Colorado to Florida, the flattest state in the US. I love Florida, so I’m glad we made the move, but I miss my friends and family still living in Colorado, and I miss the mountains. Thankfully, God has blessed us with the ability to come back and visit for a good chunk of time this summer, so that’s where we are now. On this…

Morning Struggles and Rewards April 2 2023
I have been up since 3am. But at 7am my energy is already depleting fast. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed. But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly…

My office was on the 57th floor of the South Tower. We all got out alive, but I know people who didn’t make it, including a former co-worker who was only identified using his dental records, and others who will never be the same again psychologically. That was the day everything changed for me, and one of the reasons I walked away from my cushy financial software job.
I also had an immediate fear that Bush would use 9/11 as an excuse to whittle away at our personal freedoms. Shortly thereafter, we were saddled with the Patriot Act.

I don't know if Lizzie Borden did or didn't Do It, but what matters more is what she did afterwards:
moved to a grand house with her sister and had intense, Ambiguously Gay friendships with actresses until her death at age 66
there's a terrible slasher film called Lizzie Borden's Revenge and I'm like. revenge for WHAT. what about the entire rest of her life could possibly leave her feeling in need of vengeance. barring local notoriety and the emotional toll thereof, the rest of her life was excellent

The thing is I understand the idea behind "we're allowed to be angry at/criticize/pressure our leaders" but that doesn't change the reality of how elections work in the United States right now. We only have one party that's tethered to reality, so indulging people who say they don't want to vote for that party just feels fake. Especially when the alternative is worse on everything, including the issue they're angry about. Withholding your vote isn't a protest, it's just giving up your voice. I think maybe some people think of it like a boycott, like they're a consumer refusing to give a political party their business. But that's not exactly how it works, nor should it work that way. Party politics are not a brand identity and we don't want them to be.

i think all the time about the line "in what year did fire lord sozin defeat the air nation army" and then aang responding "is this a trick question? the air nomads didn't have a formal army" and the implications of the history that the fire nation had been rewriting for a century. the implication that the air nomads (a peaceful nation) weren't brutally ambushed, but rather that they were ready to fight and may have even been eager to do so. absolving the fire nation of some of the guilt in a total genocide and painting the narrative that the air nomads were ready to defend themselves and/or that the attack on the air nomads was anything but a one sided ambush. i think about it a lot.

The Power of Personal Testimony in Alma 38: Insights and Reflections
In Alma 38, we find profound insights into the nature and importance of personal testimony. Alma, speaking to his son Shiblon, emphasizes how a testimony of Jesus Christ can strengthen and uplift others.
The Power of Personal Testimony in Alma 38: Strengthening and Edifying Others Have you ever thought about the profound impact that a personal testimony of Jesus Christ can have on others? In Alma 38, we see a compelling example of how sharing one’s faith not only strengthens our own beliefs but also uplifts and edifies those around us. As Latter-day Saint Christians, we often hear about the…
