Diana Pasulka is a religious studies professor at UNC Wilmington who has written three books: Heaven Can Wait, American Cosmic and Encounters (links below). The first was about Catholic purgatory and when Pasulka began documenting historical accounts of “divine” or “angelic” visitations in the Catholic tradition she started to notice commonalities among them and modern alien and UFO experiences. Thus began her documentation of the modern religious aspects of the UFO phenomenon along with her journey into classified secret aerospace work in the United States. Her book Encounters served to destigmatize “disclosure” as a global, transhistorical phenomenon that transcends our myopic western frame.

This granite monolith is approximately 11 metres (36 ft) in length, 8 metres (26 ft) in width, and 4.7 metres (15 ft) in height. The upper surface is flat, with a shallow trough and two square holes. We all see the moon everynight, but how many of us really stop to consider how much of an enigma it is. A summation of over 170 moons in our own solar system reveal that Earth’s natural satellite is indeed unique. For one, it is proportionately much larger than any of the other planet’s moon(s). My favorite interesting moon fact is that, from Earth’s view, the sun and moon look very close to the same size. This is fascinating because the moon is smaller than the earth and over 200,000 miles away. The sun is over 11,000 times larger than the earth (surface area) and 92 million miles away. What are the chances that they would align up to make a perfect eclipse?! Truly amazing. This happens on zero other planets in our solar system.

Astronomers have NEVER discovered any other planet in existence that has a moon that perfectly eclipses it’s sun from the viewpoint of the planet.

A perfect eclipse is extremely improbable and while it probably exists somewhere else in the vast Universe, we have yet to discover it.

Our own solar system gives some insight into how improbable it is for this phenomenon to occur. For example, Earth is the only planet with 1 moon, and it is the largest moon in ratio to it’s planet.
