For the ask game: Ophelia and Camillia
HELL YEAHH hi stedy :) starting with ophelia
How I feel about this character
shes so cute. obviously super similar to her dad and while i feel like she doesnt do the chuuni thing quite as well, i think its cute that its mostly in an attempt to emulate her father, the bestest guy in the world to her, which differentiates it from odin’s mannerisms that were formed as a coping mechanism. shes just very happy and i love that for her :)
All the people I ship romantically with this character
i remember really liking her with hisame at one point? i think i still do but i cannot tell you what their support is about. i forgot entirely. honestly, i need to brush up on the fates second gen because theyre a huge blank spot in my mind 😭 but like, conceptually, i also like her with shiro, caeldori, nina, forrest, and mitama. i just have to actually read those

My non-romantic OTP for this character
i like her little trio with forrest and nina :) theyre so cute in heirs of fate
i wish we could see more of the second gen dynamic like that. in my head i also like her friendship with soleil, but
in terms of whats given to me in the game
 its just
 eugh.
My unpopular opinion about this character
i dont think she’s a better unit than odin in conquest. i guess it can depend on who her mom is, but odin is generally going to have much more survivability due to his defense and hp + joining you pretty early, making his role as a nostank reliable and costs zero effort. ophelia takes time, and ideally you want to hold off on getting her for skills/offspring seals. any early game build can be done with nyx or elise, to less potency maybe, but with way less effort especially now that the best way of support grinding (mycastle easy seize) is no longer possible. of course, you can use dlc maps but if you take dlc into account conquest is a whole different game.
One thing I wish had happened
how about something i wish didnt happen? her support with soleil is genuinely one of these most uncomfortable things i have ever read in fire emblem which is saying a lot! because the writing in these games suck! for the most part it is soleil’s problem and not ophelia’s, so maybe i shouldn’t be complaining about it here, but i dunno man. its just
its so bad. i cant even read it in game like it gets a physical reaction out of me and not a positive one.
ok camilla now :)
How I feel about this character
i love her lots :) my savior on conquest and she had the best hair in the game. her supports are
pretty unfortunate most of the time but i think the ones that matter are really good and she’s a really sympathetic character when you get over intelligent systems not trusting in her enough to be popular and slapping the gooner bait “big sister” crap on her
All the people I ship romantically with this character
i really dont have a major preference for her? in game, i usually prefer pairings that give her a kid because 1) woag god stats and 2) her hair color is sooo good i cannot waste it. but in terms of just shipping, shes good with like. everyone. some supports are bad but i can get over most of them if i like the ship as a concept. but off the top of my head i like her with selena, beruka, takumi, saizo, peri, laslow, odin, niles, hinoka, charlotte, arthur, reina, probably more but. yeah shes versatile to me. godmilla
My non-romantic OTP for this character
leo!! all the nohr siblings really but i think camilla and leo specifically are just. they give me lots of brain worms. elise obviously wasnt born yet to exeprience the concubine wars, and as the heir and, iirc, the only legitimate son garon had, xander didn’t really get involved as much either. im sure it affected him, but he wasn’t there actually taking part in it. leo and camilla shoulder a lot for their siblings and i think its very interesting that despite it all, theyre probably the only people that can ever really understand what the other has been through. and i enjoy their supports too, with leo wanting camilla’s attention but not being willing to voice it, and camilla understanding that her smothering would probably just piss him off so she tries to avoid it, until they ultimately find a healthy medium and can start to kind of
work on their relationship with eachother after everything. i love them lots :)
My unpopular opinion about this character
im not sure i have one? i feel like opinions on camilla are so all over the place so its kind of hard to have one thats “unpopular.” but i’ll say that i prefer her in malig knight rather than wyvern lord which is probably the worse play in most scenarios but
oohh hot lady on undead dragon
 im very simple.
One thing I wish had happened
more elaboration on her past and her mother and some more story relavance for her. she just kinda
fades into the back after leo and xander come which happens with the other sisters too, but still

yo what fates characters can you see dimitri being friends with
Nohrsibs! The Nohrsibs totally adopt him! I wrote a whole post about it on my main blog, but I think they’d get along really well. He and Xander would bond over their tragedies, Camilla would mom the fuck out of him, Leo would tease him for being all brute strength (and be secretly happy that he sucks at magic so he won’t trigger his inferiority complex), and Elise would be all Elise about it.
The Hoshidosibs too. Not super sure on Ryoma but I think he’d admire Hinoka’s dedication and training, he’d actually pay attention to Takumi which would obviously immediately make Takumi love him unconditionally, and I think he’d be real sweet with Sakura (and she might even remind him of himself a lil, when he was real young. He seems like he was a shy kid).
I think he could also get along with Corrin (similar empathetic views), Azura (shared coping mechanisms for their traumas, specifically clamming up and refusing to talk about them, though he’s a lot more trusting), Felicia (shared clumsiness), Oboro (shared trauma of watching their parents die), Niles (Cuz I want Niles to tease him about being a blue blood but then uncover his severe trauma), Benny (would probably remind him of Dedue), and idk maybe Charlotte? I can see him relating to the whole facade thing she does.
Though honestly I could see him getting along with basically anyone, except maybe Peri (assuming she doesn’t clean up her act for him) and Jakob (because he’s such an asshole to everyone not named Corrin, but even then I think he’d learn about Jakob’s past and be able to look past the rudeness)

do you have any podcasts recs? I want to listen to archive 81 but I need some backup and I've already listened to the more "famous" ones, like all of them I binge podcasts like they pay me for me it ajsjjshfje
!!!! ok i'm sorry it's taken me a hot minute to get to you BUT i think i have a good amount of reccomendations :o
these first few are kinda "famous" but i thought i'd point em out just in case! some of them ended a few years ago and they were more well known back when they were running
wolf 359: gotta point this one out juuuust in case you haven't listened to it! amazing sci fi... would drama be the right word? it's very intense and has some really interesting meditations on morality and the self But it's also so extremely funny. complete, ended in 2017
ars paradoxica: america during the cold war, the red scare, intense government conspiracies.... And Time Travel! complicated but amazing plot and a big cast- i would recommend not pausing and listening to something else, it gets complex! mischa stanton directed it so you Know it has stellar sound design (added bonus: lgbt main characters) complete, ended in 2018
the bright sessions: people with superpowers go to therapy! plus: shadowy capitalistic conspiracies, amazing romances and phenomenal character development! i'm not a fan of romances and i Loved the ones here (it's not heavily romance focused though!) (added bonus: lgbt main characters + main lgbt romance) complete, ended in 2018. i think a spin off series is running rn tho!
the adventure zone: this isn't an audio drama, it's an actual play d&d podcast! the first season (balance) is amazing- hilarious and heart wrenching! (the heart wrenching takes a while to kick in but MAN it's so good) the first season ended in 2017. i haven't finished the second big season (amnesty) but i loved what i did listen to, same with the currently running season (graduation)
sayer: starts off as sinister night vale but with an ai and in space, evolves into a complicated save-the-world plot concerning several ais. it's in second person and it's Amazing! lots of meditations on the self and personhood. currently on hiatus but will be ending when it resumes
alice isn't dead: from the people who did night vale! starts as a trucker trying to find her wife, evolves to include shadowy government conspiracies and the power of regular people banding together. ending made me tear up it's really good! it's Big on the horror (the first ep is the only podcast that's ever truly scared me and it continues to scare the shit out of me to this day) but its Extremely Good Horror. very americana too! complete, ended in 2018.
ok that's the more well known ones out of the way, i think? i'm not too confident about how well known some of them are nowadays ^^' all i can say is that i heard abt them frequently in 2016. now onto the lesser known ones ! the ones that are complete are generally pretty short listens (relatively- they're still a good handful of hours at the least)
zero hours: by the wolf 359 people, it's a short anthology that released all at once last year. to pharaphrase/quote the official blurb: each episode is a take on the end of the world, whether the apocalypse is planetary or personal. each episode is separated by 99 years, starting in the past (1722) reaching the present and then overtaking it. surprisingly hopeful ending, made me <:')
i am in eskew: you've probably heard me holler about this before- it follows the trials and tribulations of david ward, who lives in the nightmarish and otherworldly city of eskew. 30 episodes long and complete, with a phenomenal ending! i can't rave about this enough i could Keep talking but i'll cut myself short. it's horror and it's damn good horror! does deal with extremely heavy topics, please be careful!
janus descending: sci fi horror with what has to be the most interesting formatting i've seen in ages: the two points of view alternate each episode... but one is chronological and one is backwards! amazingly done, keeps you guessing until the end! complete. follows peter and chel as they undertake a survey mission on an alien planet
midnight radio: made by @/theradioghost! big on the idea that "all ghost stories are love stories". a 1950s radio hostess gets letters from a fan. horror, big on the 1950s aesthetics, focus on the relationship between one and one's hometown. lovely ending! it's sapphic too :]
the far meridian: by the same people who did ars paradoxica! follows peri, a bit of a hermit who has extreme social anxiety, who lives in a lighthouse that suddenly begins to teleport. each morning peri wakes up and the lighthouse is in a different place! there are like... some horror elements? kinda? but it's not intense imo. it mainly follows peri learning to cope with her anxiety & helping others, with each episode usually having a one off encounter (usually pretty strange!) often has wholesome vibes. s3 is currently in production and is the final season. plus: lgbt characters, and kinda spoilers but peri uses a cane later on!
old gods of appalachia: honestly it's what it says on the tin! a collection of short stories set in historical appalachia that deal with entities beyond human understanding. they're good about trigger warnings, but it's Horror. produced by actual appalachians! stellar music, a Lot strong female characters, and a good amount of lgbt rep! killer music!! it's currently releasing but the latest short story is finished. (do listen in order though!)
the deep vault: by the archive 81 team! in an "almost-post-apocalyptic" america a group of friends chase a rumor about a secret hidden vault, only to Find it! follows the group as they traverse the deep vault. horror, actively points out capitalism a Lot, definetly has an interesting ending! amazing sound design, which is to be expected from dan powell!
tides: the official blurb is short and sweet: "tides is the story of dr. winnifred eurus, a xenobiologist stuck on an unfamiliar planet with hostile tidal forces". extremely snarky and endearing main character and fascinating worldbuilding! i don't know the status of s2, but s1 was really good!
limetown: follows one lia haddock, a public radio reporter, as she tries to unravel the mystery of what happened at limetown. all she knows is that 10 years prior, over 300 men, women and children vanished. horror, mystery, and some sci fi elements. presented in a found footage kinda way. i really enjoyed it, especially the first season. complete.
mabel: horror (big on the haunted house type specifically), sapphic romance, fun take on the fair folk/fae! follows anna limon, an in home carer who's trying to get in touch with her client's estranged granddaughter. evolves into a big fae-horror-romance-thing! really interesting romance tbh. amazing imagery and prose- lots of prose + almost poetry, but it's really good i promise. currently on a post season hiatus
spines: horror but it evolves past just horror in an interesting way (keeping the horror bits, of course). follows wren, who woke up in an attic surrounded by the remains of a cult ritual without any memories of who she is or what she was doing. she searches for answers, encountering creepy shit along the way. really interesting take on the super-secret-organization-that's-always-been-there trope! really good ending. one of the main characters is nonbinary + there's other lgbt main characters.
mirrors: by the people who did spines. also starts as horror but evolves past just horror (it's also sci fi). follows three women in three different centuries who are all experiencing the same haunting. phenomenal take on ghosts! like i can't articulate how cool this angle on ghosts is! s3 is supposed to start this year :] one of the main characters is sapphic, and her wife is a supporting character.
the six disappearances of ella mccray: also by the people who did spines and mirrors. evolves past just horror but keeps more of the horror elements? follows the 6 povs of the people who witnessed the surreal disappearance of ella mccray. each saw something different and surreal, and as they search for her, surreal things start happening to them. unsure abt the status of s3 but s1 and s2 are really good! lgbt main characters, including a trans lesbian (played by a trans woman!)
the bridge: horror. follows the crew of watchtower 10 on the transcontinental bridge that spans across the atlantic ocean. i listened to it back in like 2016-2017 so my memory is hazy, but i remember really enjoying it! currently on hiatus.
within the wires: sci fi... horror..? i listened to the first season a few years ago and enjoyed it and i've continued to hear really good things. it's by the people who make night vale! my memory isn't great but iirc the first season is a sort of romance that's formatted as a set of relaxation/meditation cassettes. it's a few seasons in and i think each is generally self contained, im unsure if it's currently running or not
the orbiting human circus of the air: also by the night vale people! again i listened to this a few years ago so im hazy. follows julian the janitor who works at a radio station that broadcasts from the top of the eiffel tower! surreal but in a wholesome way, iirc! i remember tearing up with happy tears at the s1 finale ^^' really good music! i think the second(?) season ended recently
stellar firma: i've only listened to a handful of episodes, but i've liked what i've heard. sci fi improv comedy that follows the newly made clone david 7 and the mess that is trexel geistman as they try and design custom planets. i think it's currently running but i dunno
rusty quill gaming: also another one that i've only listened to a few episodes of. actual play pathfinder (basically d&d) podcast set on an alternate earth. alex newall (martin's voice actor) is the dm. i've heard really good things from a lot of people! i think it's currently running but again i don't know for sure
right! that's. that's what i got.
i mentioned @/theradioghost earlier (shes behind midnight radio) but i would absolutely recommend looking at her rec list tag! she has impeccable taste

It's also gay
The far meridian- the story of peri, an agoraphobic woman who's home one day starts moving some where new every day when she wakes up. She has no control where she winds up but sees it as a chance to search for her brother. She makes friends along the way and slowly learns to understand people and learn their stories then fucking some mind thing shows up and starts fucking with her and it makes me so sad. And more gay
The blood crow stories- in its third season on going, this show is split in three separate stories. Season one focuses on a college student working on his final paper by doing an analysis of some old tapes he found of a boat that sunk in the early 1900s and also demons exist somehow and things take a turn so fast I just ahh. It's also super gay. Season two follows sheriff isaac of blackwell, set in American wild west, hes hunting a killer that seems to be targeting men in his town but things get complicated when they realized the killer has an army. This one is also gay. Season three is in a futuristic syfy setting following a hacker who works at an emergency hotline service, she starts getting freaked out by calls she gets at work and other strange happenings in her life. This too, is gay.
The message- NASA found an indecipherable message, determined to be from space, and assigns a team of scientists to figure out what it means. You follow a woman whose documenting the whole thing on her weekly podcast but things get complicated when they find out the reason no one could decipher the message
Life after- a man who's wife recently died is obsessed with her old social media, voice tree. He listens to all of her posts on loop and has memorized most of them. So what happens when it goes off script. This show is incredibly chilling and amazing, its incredibly sad yet impactful and made me cry help
Arcs pod- a dnd podcast in that's very similar in humor and style to taz with the production and editing of the bright sessions. The show centers around 3 idiots trying to get to this school. The npcs r all wonderful and then dm does an amazing job of setting up scenes and making each npc feel like a well rounded character. And gay
The Amelia project- hey ever wanna fake ur own death??? Well then Amelia project has got u covered as long as u can pay and have a good story to tell. This show is recordings of interviews with people explaining why they want to fake their own death and the explanations range from crazy cults to feeling like a background character! This show is extremely light hearted and fun. Fairly easy listen and its over the top humor and concepts are incredibly entertaining.

Birthday Bear (or more specifically, Arrival Day Bear) for the main eight. Fawn, did you ever smooth things over with Nyx after that whole Gruff situation? I know she went with you to say goodbye to him when he went into hibernation, but what’s your relationship now? And speaking of Gruff, how did you cope after saying goodbye? You must’ve been pretty sad, right? Fairy Mary, how long have you been leader of the tinkers?
Ok! Thanks for the ask from our new friend! Let's jump into it!
Tink:
"My favorite arrival day party would start with a treasure hunt for lost things with all my friends! We also then have a contest where we make things out of the lost things! Then, we head over to winter woods and spend time with Peri and her friends since we have the same arrival day! We play all sorts of games, and they have cake that has REAL icing on it! That's edible! Ask Peri about our dance. It's my favorite part!"
Tumblr media
Rosetta:
"Well sugar, I would honestly LOVE to just relax! Being a fairy isn't easy sometimes! I think a perfect arrival day party would be lounging on the beach with my friends (and Sled of course!) Every year, Fern and some other garden talents like to decorate my house with my favorite flowers on my arrival day! It's a sweet gift to wake up to!"
Tumblr media
Fawn:
"Ohhh Arrival day is one of my favorite days of the year!! My animal friends bring me all sorts of little gifts they find! Like acorns and berries! And I love having a super fun party with all kinds of games, like hide and seek, leaf sack races, and an acorn pinata filled with sweets! My friends also make me a honeycomb cake, which is literally just little honey comb cakes stacked on top of each other to make one big cake! My friends are the best!"
Tumblr media
Silvermist:
"I'm sorta low key on my arrival day. My friends always bring me great presents, like last year Rosetta and Tink helped make me a really pretty comb for my hair! I love spending time with them. Iridessa always makes me a perfect rainbow, I love them so much!"
Tumblr media
Vidia:
"Ugh. Yeah, Arrival day shouldn't be a thing. Don't get me wrong, I IMMENSELY enjoy the others showering me with gifts, but I would rather just be left alone. In my tree. WHERE IT'S QUIET. NO SINGING ALLOWED."
Tumblr media
Periwinkle:
"In the past, I have celebrated my arrival day without Tink, since I didn't know about her! But since we found each other and share the same arrival day, we spend half the day in winter woods, and the other half in spring! That way our friends can celebrate with us and do things they don't get to do normally! My favorite thing is this dance Tink and I made up. She and I dance every year as the sun sets on our arrival day!"
Tumblr media
Zarina:
"I'm not a big arrival day person, but I really enjoy seeing Tink and the others. They always remember! I also have lunch with Fairy Gary at the tea room. He always makes time! That's my favorite thing. Vidia also stops by, she and I get along really great!"

Gem Ascension Tropes (Chartreuse Diamond-specific: A - G)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Primary General Post ✰ Full Article ✰  Primary Peri Post
Affectionate Nickname: Trucy, by Amethyst.
Afraid of Her Own Strength: Starts out like this as White Diamond puts heavy emphasis on not going overboard with her powers. Somewhat justified, given the nature of her power, but it later makes Chartreuse subconsciously cap her own potential because of this.
Apologetic Attacker: There isn’t a single moment where Chartreuse truly enjoys attacking the Crystal Gems. Instead, it’s crushing guilt, remorse, and self-loathing.
Steven: “Why?! Why are you doing this?! I thought you were finally gonna help us!”
Chartreuse Diamond: “Trust me; this is hurting me way more than it’s hurting you. The sooner you give in, the sooner we can get this over with. I’m so done
”
Apologizes a Lot: To Steven in Chapter 4 of Act III. She does this so much. To be fair, she is mentally unstable because of White Diamond’s meddling and she’s pretty overwhelmed to actually see Steven for the first time in nearly a week (believing at this point she’d never see him again), while at the same time feeling so much shame of what she’s become. She gets better once Steven fixes her up, though Steven himself Lampshades this trope when he finds the missing piece of Peridot’s identity and tells her how the “incomplete” Peridot/Chartreuse behaves.
Becoming the Mask: Comes close to this in Chapter 3 of Act III when she’s cornered by the Crystal Gems and the constant threat of White Diamond makes her unable to just tell them all she’s really Peridot. When her friends start throwing slanderous statements at her for being a Diamond, Chartreuse is further convinced she’s beyond redemption and comes close to legitimately trusting White Diamond. This becomes promptly averted at the end of the chapter when Chartreuse’s Heel Realization is coupled with her seeing for herself that her dichotomy with White Diamond is literally no different from her dichotomy with Yellow Diamond as Peridot, despite now being on the same level as White.
Being Evil Sucks: She really hates having to treat the Crystal Gems like her enemies, especially when she hasn’t seen them in a week and never expected to see them again. She forces herself to regard her friends as enemies, knowing The Omniscient White Diamond could easily kill her or her friends if she doesn’t play the role White assigned to her. Tries to cope with this by settling for a Then Let Me Be Evil approach when she fears her friends won’t take her back as she is now, which almost works until White Diamond’s treatment of her blatantly parallels how Yellow treated Peridot.
Big Breast Pride: Doesn’t make a show of it, but the last question Peridot asks before she consents to becoming Chartreuse is if she can have a more mature body after ascending, implying some degree of A-Cup Angst. That would explain why she gained a much bigger bust size and curvier hips as Chartreuse.
Brown Note: The upgraded version of Peridot’s Death Wail in Chapter 8 of Act III. Chartreuse’s crying manages to shatter every establishment remaining on Homeworld, which includes vehicles. It isn’t long before her cries tear Homeworld’s atmosphere to shreds, and had she not been pacified by Pink Diamond 2.0, Chartreuse easily could have killed everybody – herself included – through this.
Comes Great Insanity: When she first comes into existence, she’s already mentally compromised due to sustaining the damage White inflicted on her mind as Peridot. The rush of power doesn’t help matters at all, which makes Chartreuse constantly doubt her thoughts and actions when she first meets the Crystal Gems. She’s mostly frozen with indecision, on the verge of a mental breakdown until White Diamond’s treatment of Chartreuse makes it obvious that she’s still being treated the same way she would have been treated as Peridot.
Compensating for Something: She is much taller than Peridot and even well-endowed to boot. Considering Peridot’s last wish was to not have the appearance of a “scrawny brat” anymore, Chartreuse’s appearance says it all in where Peridot’s insecurities lie.
Dangerously Short Skirt: Not only short, but translucent, so the skirt truly isn’t covering up anything at all. Thankfully, Chartreuse wears a leotard.
The Ditherer: A cross between the Wishy-Washy and Insecure/Submissive types. Due to getting Mind Raped by White Diamond just before she came into existence, Chartreuse was born without her mind fully intact. The shock of the ascension itself and the power that came with it became overwhelming as well, so it didn’t help that Chartreuse no longer had Peridot’s decisive stubbornness, or even her ability to say “no” to White Diamond. This made her incredibly indecisive and conflicted on how to act in Chapter 3 of Act III. As much as she wanted to throw caution to the wind and return to her friends immediately, White Diamond’s influence instilled a constant fear of her wrath or even the possibility of having her powers taken from her just as easily as they were given.
Does Not Know Her Own Strength: She clearly didn’t; otherwise Chartreuse wouldn’t have freaked out so badly after striking Garnet hard enough to not only break the fusion, but internally damage Ruby and Sapphire. This just reinforces her already-present issue of being Afraid of Her Own Strength.
Don’t Make Me Destroy You!: She attempts a Badass Boast at Steven and Garnet shortly after disabling their Sunstone fusion. For once, she actually can back this up; it’s more a matter of whether or not she can go through with it

Chartreuse Diamond: “Do you understand what I’m capable of?! If I wanted you to shatter on the spot because I desired your death, you would be in pieces right now!”
Evil Costume Switch: Chartreuse’s outfit is at least risquĂ© compared to Peridot’s, despite not showing that much more skin than Peridot’s outfit. The outfit itself even uses most of the same colors as Peridot’s outfit with a few exceptions; some colors are even lighter in shade. However, there’s nary a star to be seen on Chartreuse’s outfit, and it’s evident by the design that she reverted back to diamonds like Peridot’s original outfit.
Evil Sounds Deep: Her voice is similar, but distinct from Peridot’s. It’s described as being lower-pitched and lacking empathy. The latter detail likely didn’t stick past her introduction, as Chartreuse was going out of her way to put up an antagonistic front.
Excessive Evil Eyeshadow: It’s never directly said to be eyeshadow, but Chartreuse definitely looks like she’s wearing a heavy amount of it.
Eye Color Change: While Chartreuse had the foresight to hide her peridot gemstone from her friends when she first encounters them in Chapter 3 of Act III, it completely slipped her mind that Steven and Garnet know of her unique Mismatched Eyes that she retained from her Peridot form, and since she obviously isn’t a fusion, it’s a dead giveaway for her identity. A bit understandable, though, as Peridot/Chartreuse only recently learned of her true eye colors, and the fact that Garnet and Steven saw them a week ago is a detail that’s easily overlooked in light of the nature of their previous meeting (since Peridot at the time was sure she’d never see them again and/or would die soon afterwards). Once she takes out Garnet, she immediately covers her eyes while Cry Laughing over her screwed-up situation. When Chartreuse uncovers her eyes, they’re now uniformly green. This change doesn’t stick for long, though, as it dissipates early on by the next chapter.
Forced into Evil: After being Mind Raped into becoming more submissive and accommodating, along with the general side effects one would feel from six consecutive days of endless torture and wholeheartedly believing she would never see her friends again, Chartreuse was basically railroaded into this.
Glass-Shattering Sound: Peridot’s Death Wail becomes a Brown Note when she subconsciously shifts into Chartreuse. It not only shatters glass, but also crystal
and nearly everything else, as her sound waves render the Diamond Palaces and the entire Homeworld metropolis into mountains of broken shards. It also shatters Homeworld’s atmosphere.
Glowing Eyes of Doom: After settling down from her Cry Laughing due to Garnet figuring out who she really is due to her Mismatched Eyes, Chartreuse (who kept her eyes covered both to hide her tears and her eye colors) wills her eyes to change color so no one else will identify her as Peridot. The moment she uncovers her eyes, they’re a uniformly glowing neon green, and coincidentally, Chartreuse herself is on the verge of a Villainous Breakdown by this point.
Good All Along: Well, she’s just a Super-Powered Alter Ego of the Hero Protagonist, and it’s clearly seen that even as a Diamond, there’s no real inherent evil inside her.

【OC TEXT DUMP #1】
–〚DANNY PHANTOM〛
Persephone Rose Wakeman
Zephyros Jasper Wakeman
Brother and Sister.
Persephone is 16. Zephyros is 20
Persephone prefers to be called Penelope or Penny. Zephyros prefers Seth, Zeff, or Z.
Seth is often called by his middle name by his sister because she had a lisp, among other speech impediments as a young child.
Penny and Seth had a lot of similar interests growing up. They stuck with each other a lot instead of playing with others their age. They have a pretty nice relationship, but they aren’t without some typical sibling quirks.
Penny’s favorite color is green. So, her brother gave her the nickname ‘Peri’, short for Peridot, to parallel his own gem name.
Their parents are divorced.
Their step dad is a good dude but,, hes not,, the best,, at parenting. He’s really fond of them and gets along with them well enough. He’s just flawed as a care taker. They’re more like,, kids who live in his house. They’re old enough to feed themselves and they do a lot of the housework while he and their mom do whatever. It’s not like these kids have any other obligations. It’s fine.
It’s not fine.
Their mom is emotionally and often verbally abusive. Their mental health was going down the toilet and they really couldn’t stand living there anymore. Seth worked himself like a dog so he could get his little sister out of there.
Seth was literally like 'I’m moving out and I’m taking Penny with me and you can fight me.’ It didn’t go over so well as first. But Seth won the battle, with the support of their birth dad.
Birth dad had some addiction issues, thus mom taking the kids all those years ago, but he went to rehab and kicked it’s ass and he’s doing better now. Though he became a bit of an adrenaline junkie as a result of coping with withdrawals.
Birth dad is wild and irresponsible at times but still trying to be good and pure. He’ll fuck with you if you so much glare at his kids. He’s also a huge greek mythology nerd.
He’s in the military now, and though he understands why his kids don’t feel good enough about his past want to live with him, he’s going to support them as much as he can.
They moved to Amity Park cause their Dad lives in Elmerton, the next city over. Penny and Seth live in an apartment much like one Valerie and her father live in. (Whether its the same building is yet to be determined.)
They have a pupper named Lil Ceb, a play on Cerberus.
Penny is agender. She doesn’t mind male pronouns but mostly sticks to ‘they’ if not ‘she.’ Seth is masculine-nonbinary. Male pronouns.
Seth is bisexual, biromantic. Penny is biromantic, graysexual.
Penny has albinism and is also autistic. Seth has heterochromia and generalized anxiety.
Penny wears dark tinted glasses due to her photosensitivity and always keeps a pair of noise-cancelling headphones around her neck just in case things get Intense. She also has a fair share of stim-jewelry.
Penny’s largest special interest is paranormal phenomena.
Shes an amature Ghost hunter. Far from 'Fenton levels’ of ghost hunting, though. If anything, she would much rather learn about them, try to understand them, and help them move on than try to destroy them.
Seth thinks preserved dead things (bones, mummies, shit in jars and stones) are hella neat. He also loves the sky.
Penny believed in ghosts ever since she was 9. She had a dream where her sick Grandpa (mom’s side) visited her and when she woke up she didn’t need to hear from her mom that he had just died. She just knew.
Their grandma (dad’s side) really loved gemstones. Growing up, the kids really came to love them, too. Each of them got a chunk of her collection when she died. They still add to it to this day.
Seth is in college. He attends university in Elmerton.
Seth wants to major in like a million different things. Someone help this boy. He’s shooting to be a pilot, and a paleontologist.
Penny is a sophomore at Casper High.
Penny has no idea what she wants to be. But she’s considering majoring in biology, or geo/gemology, among other scientific fields in the future. (COUGHEctobiologyCOUGH)
Penny is excited to live in 'the most haunted town in America’. But then a ghost attack happens and she literally stands up in class like “wHAT THEFUCK????”
Valarie actually mistakes Penny for Phantom upon seeing her on her first day at a glance, because of her white hair, and almost attacks her on impulse. Luckily, Danny bails her out.
Penny dyes her hair red after that. Val feels super bad.
Danny also told her it was probably best for her get colored contacts, cause god forbid someone thinks she’s being overshadowed.
Penny really wants to be friends with the main trio, as she can tell they’re social outcasts too, but they seem so close and tight-knit and she’s so socially anxious, she can hardly bring herself to approach them.
Seth is terrified of ghosts being a real threat now and he really counts on his sister to keep a level head when shit gets fuck, but she doesn’t always succeed. He also worries about her constantly while they’re in school. They text and talk on the phone during the day whenever they can.

Whoops sorry i meant owain severa and inigo and their inclusion in fates
OKAY I AM SUPER SORRY FOR THIS SITTING IN MY INBOX FOR SO LONG, finding time to brain on inbox questions has been hard, also holidays, and visitors, and retail  and all that but here we go, I’ll try to answer this now.tl;dr; they can have their bits of fun in the world of Fates, but ultimately I didn’t care for most of them and their inclusion in the world raises too many questions and problems for me
Gotta be real, I am one of the people who wasn’t really a fan of their inclusion in Fates. Kinda takes me out of the world they were trying to make, yanno? There is this cool setup between two countries that have been bickering for well over a decade at least, with bad blood and political crapshoots between them and.... for some reason these time kids from the other game have shown up? Like, the Outrealms were kind of just a side-thought to Awakening, and going back in time was its own basket of snakes, so how did these kids even get the magic, or knowhow, or Naga’s permission to go gallivanting off to some other timezone (since DLCMap!Chrom says something about you being from a ’mythical’ or ‘legendary’ kingdom). On top of that, I played Birthright first, which means I learned early about the Faceless being sent over the barrier from Nohr, Nohrian units attacking a Hoshidan hospital, and all sorts of ugliness first. So then I see three kids from a war torn future where life is so precious Inigo has a DLC with Owain about how crushing it was to see (and participate in) people killing people on the side of Nohr, and each and every one of them buddied to some kind of assassin? (except maybe Niles/Zero who is instead a jerk who deliberately drags people through the dirt to make them uncomfortable and feel on his level as a part of coping with his own myriad problems). Like, sure, Nohr ultimately has its highlights, but these kids are still working under a king who is clearly evil, fighting and killing for a country at war after escaping a hellscape where a dragon god tried to consume everything. For a more personal note, I only ever really liked one of the characters included, and that’s Owain. Severa is a well-written character, but never one I strongly “liked.” There’s a lot in her attitude that rubs me the wrong way, though she does make for an interesting ‘mover’ in the second Awakening generation.  And while I liked Inigo on my very first play through, almost everything I ever read of him in supports after that just made my opinion of him sink and sink and sink and it’s pretty far in the gutter at this point. I’m told some of his Fates supports help redeem his character (and he does get a chunk of credit for being literally the only character in the game to challenge Peri on how [redacted] awful killing people on whimsy is), and I’ll give him more credit if that’s the case, butabsolutely nothing can completely redeem his character for me, so I have next to zero interest in investing in his role in the Fateslandia world. But as much as I really like Owain, including him in Fates is also.... pretty unnecessary. His unique behavior does lend itself better to some ‘newer’ kind of interactions (like the naming shenanigans in his Niles/Zero or Camilla supports, or his support with Leo who tried to ditch him with impossible tasks), and I like some of them. But I also feel that including three characters who all talk about leaving some time in the potentially near future divorces them from the story some too. Like a prybar was wedged into the game and they were crammed in on a temporary basis. Awakening built their characters up and made them who they are, while Fates just... dusting some toppings on them, really. These kids don’t have a history with the world in Fates, they weren’t shaped by it (/insert bane.dark knight meme), and their attachment to the people around them gets more jarring when you know they can (and ultimately will) just eject whenever.Ultimately it makes me feel robbed of getting new characters in their place. (I’m to even gonna bother discussing the ‘reincarnated’ characters, cause that’s just this response v.2 except with ‘why even do these people have these traits’ and ‘whenever I think about them I basically try to make them as much their own person as possible rather than as clone like as the game tries to make them’)

some thoughts on the new eps just released on the cn app!
so when rebecca said things would never go back to the way they were, she wasn’t messing around! Dewey isn’t mayor anymore and Nanefua is, lapis left earth with the whole barn so now peridot doesn’t live there anymore, pearl can’t get herself to reveal something heavy to steven (she keeps covering her mouth like in ‘i am my mom’ and ‘back to the moon’.....) and greg n the gems start to get more involved with helping heal steven’s mental anguish it seems, sadie becomes closer with the cool kids and quits her job, and connie has her hair cut short.
all townie episodes, but surprisingly still a very emotionally-heavy bomb dealing with the aftermath of the ‘Wanted’ arc.
dewey wins: steven’s got some REAL serious self-esteem issues that just seem to get worse :( of course connie’s mad, she care’s about you and wants to help! but steven cares about her a ton too, and protects her the way he’s taught himself works best, by not caring about himself, which is super counter-productive but he’s waist-deep in trauma n copes with it in a way that’s always seemingly worked, by endangering himself in order to help his loved ones (ex.: he was constantly at risk of getting hurt emotionally/physically when trying to deal with the gems’ problems, like with mirror/ocean gem, rose’s scabbard, keystone motel, maximum capacity, sworn to the sword, etc etc). i felt genuinely pissed when mayor dewey went along with everything being steven’s fault, like no he did everything the best he could!! but at least his projecting through dewey’s speech got him to realize his kinda’ self-destructive thought process is illogical n that everyone is more than happy to help fight with him, at least a lil’ bit. i’m so sad for my boy, he needs professional help :,( also im glad he n sadie were quick to tell lars’ parents what happened to him. and i love ganga <3.
raising the barn: i totally see why lapis would want to get as far away as possible cause of the risk of there being another war, i mean the last war she was in got her imprisoned and used as an object for thousands of years n was the most traumatizing event for her. n it’s so sweet yet saddening that peridot was intent on not causing lapis anymore hurt even though that prevented her from real-talking with her. almost surprising to see how strong lapis is when she literally raised the barn from the ground, but i mean she did steal a chunk of the ocean before :\/. also, lapis n steven saying goodbye was heartrending, they’re my favorite characters n i was hoping to see more eps of them just hanging out together. i hope lapis is okay and miss her already :(
gemcation: yeeeessss, i’m glad steven’s family sees how traumatized n depressed steven is and actually go out of their way to connect with him. i love how greg, while stays away from helping steven with his gem problems since he has no experience, is way more than happy to help sort out the human-oriented problems he has, which frankly seem to be the most devastating to steven’s mental health. my boy deserves a good vacation. also the cabin’s called “cool ranch” which was rly funny. this ep felt weird to me because of how real the situation is, but i liked it because of that n because the gems and greg worked together to help steven after he’s done so much to heal their own pain. also, what was pearl gonna’ say?? was she just too terrified to speak that she clamps up her mouth? or can she literally not say it???? WHAT WERE YOU GOING TO SAY PEARL????? this is gonna knaw at the fandom for a real long time, i swear. also i hope steven’s fam keeps trying to connect with him, he still has a ton of issues that can’t just be resolved with some nice words and a starry nightsky, there needs to be a lot of deep honest convos set up between the lot of them. also kinda’ depressing how all the homeworld-induced pain doesn’t compare to pain from hurting his bff :( he’s just so used to almost getting killed (i mean he was more than happy to get himself executed) that it’s normal for him now. it’s the intimate, personal stuff he can’t bear.
back to the kindergarten: i feel ya’, peri. everyone’s depressed, my dude. n can’t help being terribly depressed after your pal n whole home are taken from you, but good thing the rest of the sad shorty squad got you! i like how amethyst is still excited knowing about the famethyst and that she wasn’t always alone. when we saw the flower, i knew it wasn’t a real flower n that nothing could grow in the kindergarten, it looked too odd and out of place. it’s very sweet that ame n steven try their best to help peridot out and all do what she likes most though! sunflowers are great! but of course, they didn’t stay :( n we got another classic peridot tantrum. easy to see why she’d act that way, i mean everything must feel so futile after trying your hardest to rebuild n find happiness after a heartbreaking event, but not getting what you hoped for. but it won’t always be that way! just because one moment things don’t go the way you want, that doesn’t mean things’ll stay dull n frustrating forever. there are always greener pastures ahead of you, literally in the case of this episode.
Sadie Killer: i love sadie so it’s also sad to see how much stress she was under, after nearly getting abducted by aliens, lars being half-dead in space, and having to work all shifts. like, damn, everyone’s suffering so much.... i love the cool kids, too, they’re so chill and nice and it’s nice to see that steven’s relaxing a lil’ this episode. not too much to say, other than i love how sweet all these kids are. i also love the whole horror aesthetic, the band’s wage-zombie song, and just how into it sadie was! i’m surprised but glad sadie quit her job, she needs to find happiness during this dark period. i hope we get to hear her sing more, she has such a nice voice! and i relate to steven, i too take too many napkins lol.
Kevin Party: I hate kevin. so. much. uughhh he’s such a creep, he made me feel gross this episode. but i guess that means he’s a very well-written villain. it’s disgustingly sad how much steven just wanted to talk to connie again and apologize to her! my boy, he kills me. and i recall a crewniverse writer saying sometimes connie and lion get along better than lion and steven do, so that must be why lion stayed with connie the whole time, they were both so done with steven’s self-martyrdom. i wanted to reach into my screen and just deck kevin for trying to make steven act like a douche during the party. i just loathe that man >:{. the parts with him n devin/dennis (i forgot his name already oops) were rly funny though. and i’m sooo glad steven and connie talked open and honestly about how they were feeling by the end!! can’t get enough of their friendship, i would’ve like died if we didn’t see them make up by the end! and connie got a haircut, i wonder why exactly she did that. maybe just because or maybe because of stress and a need for a fresh start.

Gem Ascension Tropes (Peridot-specific: H)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reference:
Primary Peri Post ▌ Primary General Post ▌ Full Article
Had To Be Sharp: If not the main reason why Peridot was such a Manipulative Bastard during her Homeworld Days, it was certainly what enabled her behavior more than anything else. The Peridot class is largely disrespected, unappreciated, and collectively the Butt-Monkeys of Homeworld gemkind. With very little in the way of personal rights, no hope for upward movement in their lives, and being routinely abused by higher-caste gems and their own kind (as Peridots are among the most common gems living on Homeworld), Peridot quickly gathered that she needed to focus on dominating her competition and care for no one other than herself. She would do whatever was necessary to get ahead, and eventually even opted to get her “competition” brutalized when it wasn’t necessary. This was the only way Peridot was ever commended for her efforts, and the main reason she was eventually promoted to head an interplanetary mission to Earth.
Hair-Trigger Temper: Mostly contained for the comedic moments, such as near the end of Act I’s first chapter when she can’t enter any of the Crystal Gems’ rooms
or when she snaps at Lion for being uncooperative in Chapter 3 (before immediately regretting it). She starts getting this way around Lapis in Act III before the Armor-Piercing Slap, but that’s mostly due to Peridot being in no mood to talk about her problems that Lapis can see plain as day and doesn’t hesitate to point out. Also noteworthy is the first chapter of This is Who I Am, where Peridot nearly attacks 5XF just for insulting Steven.
Hammerspace: Peridot’s most often-used post-ascension ability is to store various items (or fellow friends) into independent Pocket Dimensions that can be summoned at her discretion and dismissed just as easily.
Hyperspace Arsenal: Meaning as far as combat is concerned, Peridot can easily will a weapon into existence, store it into Hammerspace when she’s done, then summon it to use again whenever she likes.
Hates Being Alone: Especially since Lapis abandoned her in canon, Peridot really does not feel comfortable being isolated. Even when she holed herself up in the bathroom to mope, she still at least had Pumpkin (and knowing other friends were very close by at all times). So, of course, Peridot had to suffer alternating between this and being with just White Diamond for nearly a week after she was stranded on Homeworld following Act I’s conclusion.
Height Angst: Although this is probably the least of Peridot’s many problems in the GA continuity, it’s significant enough of one that’s lingered since her early canon days that it plays into her post-ascension growth spurt.
Hero Protagonist: Much of GA revolves around Peridot transitioning from Plucky Comic Relief to this.
Heroic BSoD: Happens to Peridot twice in the main GA series.
First happens towards the last quarter of Chapter 4 of Act I, when her Heroic Safe Mode can no longer hold out after Peridot completes a major objective. A culmination of the PSTD from the No-Holds-Barred Beatdown she recently suffered at the hands of 9FC (and being conscious for the latter’s brutal execution) and the suffocating levels of guilt she suffers from regaining memories of her past life (also a recent occurrence) makes Peridot fully break down, though she has enough restraint to warn Bismuth and Lapis from interfering in her need to vent (although she does this in the form of a warning shot). Despite poofing an entire workstation full of Peridots (and Yellow Pearl), the only true casualty of this instance is Peridot’s old console, which is crushed into a fine powder by the time she finally comes down from this.
Fast-forward to Chapter 8 of Act III. Peridot’s life has gotten so much worse in a variety of ways, but what truly breaks her is seeing Pumpkin’s life fade before her very eyes. Being indirectly responsible for Pumpkin’s death and acting like a hysterical Jerkass when she could have been saying goodbye to Pumpkin only intensifies the levels of Peridot’s misery, which finally becomes too much for her to keep locked in. It doesn’t help that Peridot’s never suffered loss like this before, either. This Heroic BSoD includes a Brown Note-inducing Death Wail followed by an Angst Nuke that brutally tears up an already-dying Homeworld and destroys any possible way for the Crystal Gems to escape its imminent destruction. Peridot (who Involuntarily Shapeshifts to Chartreuse Diamond) nearly kills all of her friends and herself through this and is completely out of control; the saving grace is Steven (as Pink Diamond 2.0) coming in to halt the destruction with a Cooldown Hug and heal Peridot with some intensive Epiphany Therapy.
Heroic Fatigue: It doesn’t take long for Peridot to start feeling this. It almost makes her collapse within the very first chapter. It comes and goes after that, but what helps Peridot pull through this is to think of Steven.
Heroic Safe Mode: Strongly implied Peridot invokes this after the No-Holds-Barred Beatdown from 9FC, as she’s surprisingly functional and casual right after this (as much as one high off from sedatives can be, anyway), and contrary to her usual demeanor, is quite the Guile Hero when she fools Yellow Pearl into thinking she’s going back to work, only for Peridot to drop a Logic Bomb on her entire station, which poofs everyone (including Yellow Pearl, who becomes the team’s Skeleton Key in this form). Peridot’s behavior after this highly disturbs Lapis and Bismuth, and when they try to call her out on it, Peridot threatens them with violence if they try to intervene. Once she’s finally given some time to be alone, she slips into full Heroic BSoD.
Heroic Self-Deprecation: While psyched to legitimately be the leader of the Crystal Gems and finds that she enjoys this position when being serious about it, Peridot’s fully aware that she could have been better at her job in so many ways, and is under no delusion that she’s anywhere near Garnet’s level. She openly acknowledges her flaws to her friends late in Act I, and several Video Wills in Act II have Peridot outright lambast herself for being subpar at best.
Heroic Willpower: Due in part to her Determinator nature, Peridot was able to resist White Diamond’s influence for nearly a week. White couldn’t even draw Peridot out of her own gemstone without resorting to dirty tactics. On both occasions, Peridot only ultimately lost due to being unfairly tricked.
Hidden in Plain Sight: Nobody, not even Peridot herself, was aware she was a randomly-chosen Unwitting Test Subject. Not only did her visor constantly cover her Mismatched Eyes as Peridot never had a reason to take it off, but she was also the first heterochromatic gem to emerge in thousands of years. And of all potential possibilities, no one in their right mind would believe a low-caste gem like her would ever be chosen for such a unique and exclusive experiment; history proves all past heterochromatic gems were much higher on the food chain and none were Era 2s.
Higher Understanding Through Drugs: The injuries Peridot sustains in the No-Holds-Barred Beatdown with 9FC in Chapter 4 of Act I are so severe that she literally needs to be injected with high doses of sedatives in order to move or function in any way; after all, Peridot is not only borderline-crippled from the incident, but was also sent into catatonic shock. Despite all this, Peridot is still expected to report for work soon, so the medic who cares for her gives her enough painkillers to make her functional for the duration of her shift. While very obviously high as hell as one drugged with sedatives would be, Peridot’s at least able to walk and talk with her friends
as well as remember her objective for her current mission while her other teammates forgot about that detail after that traumatic event. In order to truly perform to the best of her ability, Peridot’s Heroic Safe Mode slips in to take over, which brings back haunting shades of the Sociopath she used to be. While very unnerving and unpleasant, Peridot’s performance is arguably more proficient this way opposed to not being under the influence of any drugs. Even Peridot’s critical flaws like being a Bad Liar disappear while under the influence, which makes her able to fool Yellow Pearl to fall right into her trap. Only after achieving her objective does her drugged state start to cause legitimate problems

Hostage MacGuffin: Peridot’s Heroic Sacrifice at the end of Act I leads to her being this through the entirety of Act II up until about a third of the way into Act III. However, she slips back into this role towards the end of Chapter 6 until the end of Chapter 7. Bear in mind that by Act III, everyone is aware Peridot is simultaneously a MacGuffin Super Person, so White Diamond is using her as more than just a bargaining chip to lure Steven back.
Hot-Blooded: Not quite as notorious as Ruby is, but it does show with Peridot on more than one occasion.
Hurting Hero: A trope that has a consistent snowball effect for Peridot the further along she goes in GA and beyond. Act I’s challenges of insecurities, the burden of responsibility, being selfless, defining how she feels about Steven, and the persisting fear of overall failure seem pretty trivial to what Peridot goes through in Act III. Then there’s issues regarding her origins, coping with a new life she didn’t want but had to take to save her friends, and especially her identity when she becomes Chartreuse Diamond. Post-GA stories don’t give Peridot a break, either; with the emotional baggage she’s accrued across GA, she’s still carrying a lot of that on her back. While she’s come to terms with most of it, her role in the new Era 3 is overwhelming, to say the least.
Hybrid Power: After ascending, Peridot has roughly the same capabilities as Chartreuse Diamond, although if she’s in her Peridot form, there will be a cap on her potential due to her inherent limitations. Even feats Peridot can pull off as Chartreuse can will often result in strain, fatigue, or pain depending on what she’s trying to conjure or invoke.
Hypocrite: She berates Lapis and Bismuth in the very first chapter of Act I for expressing desires of getting revenge against the Diamond Authority when their top priority should be to rescue their friends (while also pointing out how much of a suicide mission it is to retaliate on the Diamonds’ home turf); however, Chapter 4 shows Peridot not being much better when her plan to gain a Skeleton Key to Homeworld in the form of Yellow Pearl’s gemstone doubles as a way for Peridot to get back at her former boss for all the grief she put her through. This also extends to her more innocuous coworkers, as Peridot had no problems risking their lives poofing the entire workstation just to get Yellow Pearl’s gemstone. In her compromised mental state, she even briefly considers shattering her helpless poofed coworkers, but Lapis and Bismuth bring her out of it while not hesitating to call Peridot out on her hypocrisy.
This is revisited late in Act III, as everyone can tell something happened between Steven and Peridot while they were separated from the others in Chapter 5, which is causing Peridot to act like a major Jerkass to others while Steven stays conspicuously quiet. Lapis doesn’t hesitate to point out that Peridot has a serious problem and she’s sucking at trying to hide it. She references how Peridot forced her and Bismuth to be Locked in a Room way back in Chapter 3 of Act I to sort out their differences so that they wouldn’t become an issue during the mission. Yet Peridot refuses to face her problems and resolve them as they’re on their way to directly face White Diamond. Peridot can’t bring herself to face her issues at this time, so she can’t offer any kind of rebuttal. Instead, she opts to snap at Lapis and deride her for having skewed priorities, but of course this ends up biting her in the ass hard by Chapter 7.

Gem Ascension Tropes (White Diamond-specific: R - Y)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Primary General Post ♩ Full Article ♩  Primary Peri Post ♩  Primary WD Post
Redemption Rejection: While she’s not above begging for an Energy Donation, White never once has any inclination to see the light despite Steven going far out of his way to make his friends grant her mercy.
Reduced to Dust: All that remains of White Diamond after her self-destruction is pretty, glittery dust floating around the void in space where Homeworld used to be.
Restart the World: Late in Act III, White Diamond reveals this is why she’s striving to make the Diamond of Miracles a reality, as she would have the power to restore Homeworld to how it was in the beginning, when it was “perfect”. Interestingly, this does ultimately happen, although it’s going to be far from an instantaneous restoration. White also doesn’t live to see it.
The Scottish Trope: Peridot explicitly states in Act I that even speaking White Diamond’s name is considered extremely taboo in Homeworld society – this extends to even speaking of her indirectly. Only under extreme circumstances is the name ever uttered, and almost every time it’s done so in confidence. Most gems on Homeworld are aware of White Diamond’s existence but know little else of her due to this
which is how White Diamond prefers it. Even fewer ever see her in person.
Screw the Rules, I Have Supernatural Powers!: The presumed progenitor of all gemkind might have used her powers for genuine purposes and fostered life for the species at one point in her life, but it’s been a long time since White has used her powers for anything other her own selfish gain. She has the means to cure corruption, but outright refuses to do so. Most likely, she could even cure pallification, but White’s too invested in worldwide surveillance to humor such a concept. In GA, White’s very nonchalant about using her powers to play dirty; it was literally the only way she was able to break Peridot.
Screw the Rules, I Make Them!: Technically, it’s implied that Yellow Diamond was actually the one who was behind creating Homeworld’s caste system and the laws surrounding that, but being that White is indisputably above Yellow in overall authority, it can be inferred that there was no law Yellow passed or mandated without White’s approval. And White is even more hypocritical and ruthless than Yellow when it comes to resorting to drastic measures that would be highly illegal for anyone else on Homeworld. At the very least, running your own planet into the ground should be illegal even for the Diamonds...
Self-Disposing Villain: White Diamond’s fate – the Despair Event Horizon proves to be too much for her to bear. She was already on the edge of the metaphorical cliff after losing everything she had to her name; the humiliation of Peridot nearly scaring her to death and Connie – a human – disfiguring her appearance as punishment for trying to use Steven’s generous Energy Donation as a final parting shot to the Crystal Gems
those moments finally break White, and as the Crystal Gems are safely departing from the remains of Homeworld before its complete destruction, they see White explode into a ring of glittery remains.
Smug Snake: White reeks of this.
The Sociopath: She makes Peridot’s former Homeworld persona look like a saint by comparison.
Super Empowering: While Peridot naturally had the components needed to make her Chartreuse Diamond, White had the power to prematurely develop Peridot’s diamond that would have taken centuries on its own and awaken the abilities Peridot otherwise never would have known she had.
Superpower Meltdown: After spending almost her entire life as the supreme ruler of her kind, feared and respected in equal amounts, White Diamond is unable to cope with no longer having a planet nor any subjects to live for the sole purpose of pleasing her. Even worse, White’s enemies who put her in this position no longer care enough to even kill her off. Once she’s regarded with indifference for the first time in her life, White Diamond’s Villainous Breakdown leads to an attempted attack In the Back, which almost results in a Backstab Backfire courtesy of Peridot. However, Peridot holds off when she realizes a low-caste gem like her was able to scare the living hell out of White Diamond. Then Connie chips in with the final parting blows with her hammer for good measure, meaning White Diamond in mere minutes was brought down from Evil Overlord to being rendered terrified of a worker gem from the rock-bottom of the caste system and damaged by a human. After they leave her without any more acknowledgement, White is pushed past her limit. Presumably out of sheer humiliation, she self-destructs shortly after the Crystal Gems leave Homeworld.
Term of Endangerment: Frequently referred to as White-Di by Amethyst.
“They Still Belong to Us” Lecture: Even after Chartreuse pulls a decisive Heel-Face Turn, White Diamond seems to take it in stride and still speaks as if Chartreuse is part of the family who will fulfill her role in her ultimate plan soon enough. Once she forcibly fuses with Chartreuse and becomes Celadon Diamond, she taunts the Crystal Gems by claiming she won over Peridot for good and will never break out of the fusion of her own volition. The Crystal Gems don’t buy this even for a second.
This Cannot Be!: This is White’s mildest reaction when she finally sees with her own two eyes that she was never meant to be part of the “Diamond of Miracles” legend.
Time to Unlock More True Potential: White is responsible for unlocking Steven’s “awakened” form, Pink Diamond 2.0, or at least completed the transitional state seen earlier in Act III.
Torment by Annoyance: On the receiving end of this while she has Peridot as a captive. It takes her a long time to force Peridot out of her gemstone, and once that finally happens, the Genre-Savvy Peridot, who knows her value as a Hostage MacGuffin and therefore knows She Wouldn’t Shoot Her, gives White Diamond the vilest verbal abuse she can dish out. Peridot knows full well she’s pissing White off, and naturally it drives White up a wall. Needless to say, the frustration stemming from this plays a big role in how badly White torments Peridot in future chapters.
The Ultimate Life Form: Per canon, though downplayed. White fully believes she is this, but not as herself; rather, as part of a double-diamond fusion that would create the “Diamond of Miracles”. Ultimately zig-zagged; the ULF is a double-diamond fusion, but it’s the one fusion that White Diamond herself is not part of.
The Unapologetic: Apologizing for her actions is a concept that never once crosses White Diamond’s mind throughout the entirety of GA. She doesn’t even bother giving out the sarcastic variety; White legitimately believes she’s done nothing that warrants an apology for anyone.
Undignified Death: Heavily implied that White Diamond blew herself up out of shame.
The Unfettered: Played very straight. Even when it’s proved late in Act III that White is not part of the Diamond of Miracles prophecy and that Homeworld is beyond saving, she’s still focused on destroying the Crystal Gems.
Ungrateful Bastard: Steven had every reason in the world to just ignore her request for an Energy Donation, but he still honored it despite White’s ever-growing list of criminal charges. However, his mercy and generosity is disregarded by White Diamond, as she’s more concerned with Steven and everyone else treating her with indifference before completely ignoring her. That, by her logic, justifies her using the very energy Steven gave her to stab this group In the Back. Or attempt to, at least, before Peridot deflects it.
Villainous Breakdown: Celadon Diamond had more of an overt moment of this caliber, but White definitely suffered a more intense variety in the final chapter of GA Act III when she’s faced with the truth that she has no part of being Iridescent Diamond. Then after being smacked around by Alexandrite and Moonstone, she faces the reality that Homeworld is about to completely fall apart, there are no longer subjects to serve in her name, her entire civilization has collapsed, and she is basically powerless. Once the Crystal Gems completely lose all investment in her personally, White loses it enough to screw up her final chance at redemption and perishes soon after out of sheer humiliation.
Villainous Legacy: Though White Diamond’s time is over as of the end of Gem Ascension Act III (and her death ensures she won’t make any future appearances outside of flashbacks), her influence on the refugee Homeworld gems lives on. The Crystal Gems’ biggest future challenge in Era 3 will be how they’ll go about liberating so many gems from this influence that has persisted for several millennia.
Villain Antagonist: To Peridot’s Hero Protagonist.
Villain Takes an Interest: Throughout Act I, White really doesn’t acknowledge Hero Protagonist Peridot’s existence any more than she does for any other Crystal Gem not named Steven. Come the end of Act I, Left for Dead Peridot’s stuck with only White Diamond for company. The latter soon discovers Peridot’s Mismatched Eyes, and just like that, becomes way more invested in Peridot personally from there on out. It’s hinted at the end of Act II (and confirmed early in Act III) that unbeknownst to all, Peridot was actually a pet project of White’s prior to her emergence as Homeworld’s final Unwitting Test Subject. Peridot becomes an element White Diamond can’t possibly ignore and a vital component to her own agenda, so the latter goes out of her way to sell herself as The Mentor Peridot needs (after Mind Raping The Determinator, of course). White gives Peridot the illusion that They Can Rule Together, but really, White’s just saying whatever she thinks Peridot wants to hear to maintain control.
Villains Want Mercy: After her defeat, White asks Steven for an Energy Donation to heal her many wounds. Everyone finds this request suspect given White’s notorious pride – as well they should, since White’s eventually driven to use that very energy to shatter the Crystal Gems In The Back.
We Can Rule Together: In Act III, she tries to sell this trope to Peridot and Steven frequently (more specifically, their Diamond Alter Egos) – especially Peridot – but she really isn’t fooling anyone.
We Have Reserves: Until Chapter 7 of Act III, this is justified. White Diamond’s body-snatching ability has enabled her to have this trope as a solid insurance policy for most of her reign.
What Could Possibly Go Wrong?: White tends to have this very attitude about everything that eventually goes catastrophically wrong. Probably the biggest offense is White deliberately running her own planet into the ground and banking on fulfilling some obscure ancient prophecy reboot her world back into its perfect state

What is This Thing You Call “Love”?: Believes this and friendship are nothing more than weak illusions.
White Hair, Black Heart: Per canon, and much more exaggerated in this continuity.
Withholding the Cure: Even the Crystal Gems are aware that White Diamond knows she’s a necessary component to curing the corrupted gems (and later the pallids) yet won’t even humor the idea of lending her services to heal her subjects. The only way she “contributes” to finding a cure is through Pearl forcibly drawing out a sample of her essence when White Diamond is unable to fight back.
Woman in White
You Have Failed Me: Invokes this on Yellow Diamond to justify killing her off near the end of Act I.
Your Soul is Mine: Since the concept of pallification is not yet fully understood (and White herself certainly had no interest in giving any helpful information to the Crystal Gems), it’s a toss-up between Just the Soul or Killed Too in regards to what happens to a gem after pallification. The body is still functionally alive, just with their conscious minds entirely evicted in such a way that even White does not know (nor care) what happens to the souls after this and whether or not they can be recovered. For all they know, White could have just consumed them without realizing it, as she does directly consume Yellow and Blue Diamond’s souls along with their bodies.

Gem Ascension Tropes (Peridot-specific: C)

Cat Smile: Per canon, and often seen in GA.
Catapult Nightmare: The last thing Peridot sees in her dream world at the start of Act III is a Jump Scare of White Diamond’s flickering face before she wakes up in the real world, almost jumping into sitting upright while hyperventilating before she realizes her surroundings have significantly changed, as has her own appearance.
Catchphrase: “Oh my stars!” (plus many variants), and “Wow, thanks!” per canon.
Catchphrase Insult: Per canon, Peridot is still prone to calling anyone and everyone a “clod”. Unique to GA, Peridot will alternatively call people “stupid idiots”.
The Chains of Commanding: One of the big sources of Peridot’s conflict in Act I, especially since she’s prone to making mistakes and making questionable decisions that understandably rub Lapis and Bismuth the wrong way. She gets better by Chapter 6, then gets Left for Dead a couple of chapters later. Peridot starts feeling this again to a lesser agree midway through Act III once she’s reunited with the team, but that’s a bit more understandable considering the week-long torture she endured among the other various atrocities she’s been afflicted with. Steven actually calls Garnet out on this in Chapter 7, berating her for browbeating Peridot into an authoritative role when she shouldn’t be expected to operate as well as she did before.
Character Development: Transitioning from Plucky Comic Relief to Hero Protagonist barely scratches the surface; while Peridot is still largely recognizable as herself despite her many changes, she’s shown to have layers-upon-layers of Hidden Depths. Even her relationship with Lapis was founded by a very heavy guilt complex – the details of which were so traumatic, Peridot forced herself to forget all of those details except for the basic fact that she felt indebted to Lapis. It’s revealed that despite her massive, domineering ego, the one Peridot is trying the hardest to convince that she’s awesome is herself. There are loads of unpleasant details to Peridot’s Homeworld life that she ultimately blocked from her memory in order to cope and better live with herself. Now Peridot can no longer ignore them (and in fact will be frequently reminded of them by the refugees she’s trying to help), but since Steven managed to help Peridot learn to accept that her past misdeeds can’t be undone and to forgive herself (since Peridot definitely understands by now how bad she once was and is desperate to avoid sinking to that level ever again), she’ll be able to weather that storm better and be the proper leader she was meant to be. Peridot was once weighed down so heavily by her guilt and internal self-loathing that she subconsciously deemed herself unworthy of fusing with Steven, which played into why their initial attempts failed. However, now that Steven has liberated Peridot from those chains as of Chapter 8 of Act III, she can at least fuse with Steven now and finally live her life and genuinely love herself as much as she’s grown to love others in canon. Around the same time, Peridot has also been able to make peace with her newly-revealed identity as an Unwitting Test Subject, which consequently makes her a Diamond just as much as she is a Peridot. While still uncomfortable about shifting her form to Chartreuse Diamond unless it’s absolutely necessary, Steven (knowing all too well what this dilemma is like) helped Peridot learn to accept Chartreuse as a part of herself and not just a shameful mark of a traitor. Being the only ascended gem in history and one of the two remaining Diamonds in existence has effectively made Peridot a very special and exclusive gem as she long sought to be, but now she’s learned to be careful what she wishes for from now on – the responsibility that comes from being this special is immense. While Peridot has matured enough to uphold this responsibility (and in fact proved herself to be a worthy authority figure to Garnet; consequently, Peridot now co-leads the Crystal Gems with Garnet from now on), she does lament how much she took for granted the easy, simple days of being insignificant. However, the massive load of work ahead of Peridot allows her to feel consistently at peace with herself, knowing she really is putting the past behind her while bettering herself every day to build a brighter future not only for herself and her friends, but all of gemkind.
Character Tics: Per canon, Peridot is very prone to making odd noises when she tries to speak and is having trouble conveying her message, or if she’s completely flustered and can’t concentrate. She’ll also let these garbled words out as an expletive when she completely loses her temper.
Chekhov’s Gun: Peridot’s Mismatched Eyes. While an interesting detail worth noting in its own right, it was revealed during Act I’s climax where much more important things were happening, such as Peridot having to be Left for Dead after coming so close to making it off Homeworld with her friends. Steven and Garnet notice Peridot’s eyes, but understandably don’t acknowledge them due to the circumstances.
Fast-forward to Chapter 3 of Act II: in Peridot’s Video Will to Amethyst, she brings up that she found reports of having defective eyes when she emerged, but there was no merit to it as Peridot’s eyesight was fine and her eyes otherwise developed normally.
Jump to Act II’s final chapter; Garnet speculates Peridot might have emerged as an enhanced gem after Steven shows off a video where Peridot displays some sort of inexplicable power. Amethyst reminds Garnet that Peridot can’t possibly be “enhanced” since she’s an Era 2, and while telling her friends how Peridot regarded herself as a defect no better than Amethyst, the “defective eyes” bit is mentioned. Amethyst is surprised to find she’s the only one Peridot mentioned this to. This inadvertently causes Garnet and Steven to recall witnessing Peridot’s heterochromia – which in turn freaks out many members of the team, as they reveal any gem with heterochromatic eyes who isn’t part of a fusion is the Mark of a Supernatural; specifically, Unwitting Test Subjects. It’s theorized (later confirmed) that Peridot was Hiding in Plain Sight as her visor kept everyone, including Peridot herself, ignorant of what she truly is. This becomes crucial information as they realize White Diamond must know of Peridot’s condition as well (after it was deduced that the Diamonds are behind the operation that creates gems like Peridot) and thus the Crystal Gems need to be on their guard even if they find Peridot, as she might be forcibly turned into a weapon White can use against them.
Act III’s opening chapter wastes little time fully revealing how Peridot ended up this way. White Diamond was responsible, and Peridot herself became a unique experiment to receive White’s diamond dust (heterochromatic gems before her had Blue or Yellow’s diamond dust instead) and a broken splinter of Yellow Diamond from several thousand years ago. Since no more gems could be made on Homeworld after the batch Peridot was made in, White effectively made Peridot a Chosen One; not only to have enhanced natural capabilities, but the ability to form a brand new diamond from her own gemstone and possibly evolve into a Diamond herself (later confirmed).
So, in the end, Peridot’s Mismatched Eyes marked her as The Chosen One; a one-of-a-kind gem who can be a low-caste worker gem and the almighty Chartreuse Diamond simultaneously while being powered with her own will and desire, making her the most versatile super-powered being in history. In the penultimate chapter, Peridot’s ascended form fuses with Steven’s awakened form to create Iridescent Diamond, the legendary Diamond of Miracles. Keep in mind all of this stemmed from Peridot crashing head-first into a gate and destroying her visor in the process at the end of Act I.
Child Soldier: Downplayed. Peridot’s kind was never meant to fight, but she did spend most of her life armed with weaponry meant for self-defense with clear instructions to kill any potential foe indiscriminately. Additionally, she was inherently far more aggressive than any Peridot should be. Also subverted in that Peridot’s not conventionally a child – being a gem, she’s full-grown the moment she emerges. She’s just very limited in experience and ignorant of the nature of her own world due to existing for a mere 13 years, which is about as close to a “child” a gem can get.
The Chosen One: The randomly chosen one, more accurately. The burden of emerging as a Diamond hybrid could have happened to any of the thousands of gems cooking in their rock the same time as Peridot had. Ironically, she starts out more like The Unchosen One in Act I, before she learned of the truth behind her creation.
Combat Pragmatist: Up to Eleven in this continuity due to her elevated position; most notably during the final chapter of Act I when she assists in several separate battles/confrontations with a plan in mind. Especially prevalent when she suggests finding a weak point to strike pallified Blue Diamond, as well as her tactic for stunning Yellow Diamond badly enough to render her a non-factor for the final battle.
Comes Great Responsibility: Says this verbatim a few times in Act III in reference to the powers she gained post-ascension.
Congruent Memory: Most of Peridot’s regained memories on Homeworld are of this variety.
Constantly Curious: Downplayed and inverted, as she’s not only a Hero Protagonist now, but also The Navigator and Ms. Exposition for modern-day Homeworld, so Peridot’s mostly addressing curiosities rather than being curious herself. That said, Peridot still retains this trait and it will pop up once she is in a position to be the one asking questions when coming across something unfamiliar. More prevalent and played straight in the Post-GA stories.
Cope by Pretending: The unaware form; ever since her canon redemption arc, Peridot subconsciously discarded most of her Homeworld memories. Her rationale was that they were not worth retaining once she accepted Earth as her home and didn’t count on ever seeing Homeworld again. While that was a valid reason, Peridot mainly did this so that she would be able to better herself without having her progress hampered by the guilt and self-loathing that would occur should she reflect back on the many horrible things she did as a Homeworld gem. This coping mechanism worked very well for Peridot, to her credit, but the forced return to Homeworld made it impossible for her to keep up the charade any longer. However, Peridot surprisingly was able to keep some of her most traumatic experiences buried deep within her to the point that she fully forgot about them
until, of course, certain peers of hers were able to forcibly unearth this secret and make Peridot relive a moment that nearly erased her entire identity. While she was initially (and understandably) upset over this, Peridot understood that she can’t truly move forward with her life until she confronts her fears and traumatic experiences in order to accept herself and make peace with her very unpleasant past life.
Cosmic Plaything: Discussed in Peri-dise: The Capitalist Anarchy.
Peridot: “The narrative of my life so far
I get what I want, but only when I don’t want it anymore.”
Cowardly Lion: Per canon, but mostly contained to Act I. While Peridot goes out of her way to downplay this, having No Poker Face means pretty much everyone can see her fear as plain as day. In Act II, Peridot’s Video Wills feature her being much more candid with this trope.
Crazy Prepared: The main reason why Bismuth and Lapis waited for Peridot to reform before doing anything is because they knew she was the only one who could conjure a master plan for the rescue mission. Being the only one to have lived in the modern-day Homeworld allowed Peridot to consider several possibilities and additionally made sure her own teammates fit into her ideas. Most notably, she realizes quickly how useless Lapis will be on a world where water is virtually nonexistent (and it never rains), so Peridot not only has the foresight to bring along water from the ocean right next to them, but inspires Lapis to retrain herself to adapt to being in an environment where she has to more carefully control the water she uses and recycle it whenever possible; basically, to make more with less.
This inspires the Crystal Gems to follow her example when she’s the one in need of rescuing in Act II.
Creepy Monotone: Sometimes slips into this, which is how Peridot used to always speak when she was introduced in canon. Often is Foreshadowing to Peridot teetering on the edge of Sanity Slippage or Heroic Safe Mode. Somewhat of a Red Herring when it first happens in Chapter 3 of Act I, as Peridot’s intent was to channel The Stoic nature Garnet is known for. Played absolutely straight in the following chapter when Peridot initiates her plan to capture Yellow Pearl’s gemstone. Also played straight in any flashback taking place during Peridot’s Homeworld life.
Crush Blush: Is very prone to this, especially early on in Act I when she’s still trying to figure out what she truly sees Steven as. This happens almost every single time someone talks about their relationship while Peridot’s within earshot.
Cry Cute: Save for her Inelegant Blubbering in Chapter 5 of Act I and her Death Wail in Chapter 8 of Act III, most of Peridot’s crying fits (and there are several instances of this across the series) are this.
Cry into Chest: Peridot does this after giving Steven The Glomp when they reunite.
Cursed with Awesome: She turns out to be a one-of-a-kind gem who can become a Diamond powered with will, giving her a very wide range of abilities limited only by her imagination (and provided she’s not totally ignorant of the concept). Too bad Peridot never asked for any of this, since this all came about from being a randomly-chosen Unwitting Test Subject. She kind of had to go through hell to achieve this state she never wanted in the first place, and really has no choice but to make use of her Alter Ego now that aside from Steven and herself, there are no more Diamonds after GA and the refugee gems will need some degree of familiarity to cope with all the change.
