CHRISTIAN DIOR FALL/WINTER 2004 COUTURE

Vienna,Istanbul back from a trip in Central Europe, John Galliano proposes his very free vision for a collection that mixes romantic 19t-century references, resuscitating Empress Elisabeth Sisi of Austria, the glamour of 1950s pin-ups and Zsa Zsa Gabor, stated the Dior Fall Winter 2004 Haute Couture Collection.

Imagine a stately parade of Austrian and Hungarian princesses competing with one another for precedence in outrageously ornate corseted gowns, their crowns slightly askew. Tottering under the weight of pounds of elaborate fabric, skirt flounces the width of the runway, bank vaults of jewelry, and 6 inch platforms, Christian Dior's models pulled off a spectacle that held the audience breathless in case someone fell. So vast and encased were the frocks that at one point, Karolina Kurkova actually got stuck in the exit and had to be manhandled off.

"I went on a research trip to Vienna, and then got to looking at Egon Schiele, and Empress Sisi, and Russia!" was John Galliano's explanation. Strangely, in spite of the mind blowing succession of hobbled, hourglass silhouettes, blown up with massive outcrops of Edwardian swags and drapes and gigantic fur trimmed opera coats, this was a pared-down Dior Couture in several senses. Galliano ditched the Leigh Bowery meets kabuki makeup in favor of powdered faces, and the dresses, for all their rich embroidery, crystal chunks, and hand-painted cherubs and birds, gave a new sense of the body beneath.

In that way, it was easier to make the imaginative leap from runway to real event (perhaps one of those royal weddings that have enthralled Europe this summer?) than was usual in previous Dior Couture extravaganzas. This show also made a heady, sensuous display of color, brick red, emerald, celadon, boie de rose, and more-and an opulent celebration of couture-crafted textures, often enhanced to look as if the girls were actually wearing the gilded upholstery and painted ceilings of an imperial palace. On the other hand, it was also essentially a show of one queenly message, repeated 28 times. And that, for Galliano, displayed an odd lack of variety.

For his most stately collection yet, the designer 'put on a regal display of mermaid silhouetted robes accessorised with crowns, orbs, diamonds and long white gloves that made humble subjects of his A-list audience, Vogue reported.

The most luxurious materials were used: silks, brocades, moires, taffeta and velvets, trimmed with sable, ermine and fox, adorned with peacock feathers and delicately embroidered or hand-painted with designs reminiscent of 18th-century motifs inspired by Sevres porcelain and Faberge eggs.

Trompe-loil effects such as flesh - colored bustiers also peppered the collection, while gravity-defying pleats and gathers on dramatic evening gowns showcased the skills of Dior's Haute Couture Atelier.

Blog Introduction

Hi there! I'm Mags & I want to take you all with me on my Pokemon adventure. ^-^

I somehow missed the Pokemon craze growing up. I never watched the anime, collected the cards, and despite having both a gameboy and a gameboy advance, I never played the games. When a friend learned this, I was given Leaf Green in high school but it was years before I got around to playing it.

Around 2016 when Pokemon GO came out, I dusted off my Leaf Green and gave it a try. I knew a few Pokemon from pop culture references, and of the ones I did know, eevee was my favorite. I put a few hours into the game when I finally obtained one from a man in Celadon city. My friend asked which eeveelution I was going to pick. I turned to them and asked how to catch more eevees because I wanted all the eeveelutions... that's when I got the news that made me stop playing pokemon for years: This is the only obtainable eevee in the game.

I. Was. Heartbroken. They said they could trade one in from another game, but I knew it wouldn't be the same. It's not /my/ eevee. So I put the game down. I didn't think I'd ever pick it back up. How could I pick just one? It wasn't until many years later that I learned of Pokemon breeding. I could have gotten a ditto and hatched more eevees. But by then, I had already walked away.

I could appreciate why people enjoyed the franchise, and even made some friends in the TCG community, but it wasn't for me. Until some very kind friends gifted me a switch for my birthday this year. Everything changed for me. I. Became. Obsessed. I suddenly had access to more Pokemon than I could dream of. Brilliant Diamond. Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Sword. Scarlet. Pokemon Snap.

So I started my Pokemon adventure in July 2023. I started with Brilliant Diamond but quickly swapped to Scarlet to play with some friends.

I decided to give myself a challenge to keep my interest for many years: a full form living pokedex.

Every form of each Pokemon ever available.

All in pokeballs (except event)

My OT whenever possible (exceptions are old events)

Very few POGO Pokemon to not have the stamped sprites

Complete for both the regular and shiny forms

To keep it organized, I modified a spreadsheet by Austin John. I've combined both regular and shiny, changed the way the % is calculated, hid superfluous info, added notes, and reorganized so the shiny and regular forms would be next to each other in home.

So, how am I going to actually pull off this crazy adventure when I'm just now starting in 2023?

Firstly, I'm going to recognize that this is not a short term project. There are a lot of Pokemon, in a lot of forms, in a lot of games. I'm going to need to use my switch, a friend's 3DS, and POGO to get every form.

Start with the easiest Pokemon to obtain and get full forms, shiny hunt a bit, but mostly focus on each form for now between Scarlet, Sword, Brilliant Diamond, Let's Go: Eevee, and Pokemon Legends: Arceus.

For the vivillon forms, I will use PoGo postcards to get both the forms and their shinies. When possible, hunt with a friend with a different postcard to knock 2 out at the same time.

For shiny hunting, I respect people that hunt with full odds, but I'm going to use every tool that Pokemon gives me, I have decades of time to make up for. (Masuda, Outbreaks, Sandwiches, Shiny Charms, Hunting with a friend to get 2 at once, Catch combos, you name it: I'm gonna use it)

When the bulk of the non-shiny forms are completed, I'll move onto the 3DS games. In these games, I will need to get every form and shinies before I return it. There will be at least 4 playthroughs of Omega Ruby (each form of Deoxys), and I'm sure more of another as well.

And Lastly, I'll keep in mind that there will be some really tough Pokemon for me to get following my parameters. Celebi, Furfrou, Pokeball Vivillon, Pikachu Hats, and I'm sure many more. I will have to concede some of my parameters for obtaining such Pokemon.

But I'm gonna keep at it, and keep record of my adventures here in this blog. Thank you for reading all of this, I would love if you joined me on my Pokemon journey. ^-^

Among the main attractions of the island one should name an altar built by Tangun, the legendary founder of the nation, the fortress walls, the ancient furnace for the production of celadon built in the 13th century, and Chondynsa monastery. The beaches of the eastern coast of Korea are known for weak currents and are considered the best in Korea.

Korea will surely capture your imagination with plenty of Buddhist monasteries and temples, palaces, exquisite statues, which have ancient and rich history. Seoul is perhaps the main place for tourists, with its National Museum, the Institute of Korean classical music named Sejong Cultural Center, Hoam Center for the Arts, Namsan Tower, and Korea House. In the capital of Korea one can visit Gyeongbokgung Palace, known as The Palace of Radiant Happiness, and one of the five palaces in Seoul. The main palace was built by the founder of Joseon dynasty, King Lee Sung-Te, when the state capital was transferred to Seoul. On the palace grounds, there is the National Folk Museum with a rich exposition, which introduces you to the history, culture and traditions of Korea.

No less interesting is Changdeokgung Palace in Seoul, which consists of the king's residence and Secret Garden. Built in 1405, it is the only palace that has preserved the architectural style of the Joseon Dynasty. Secret Garden is a place for entertainment of the ruling dynasty: the nature has harmoniously created its 300-year-old trees, the pond and the pavilion.
