is it me or is garcia wearing so much tweed in evolution? i noticed how a good chunk of her outfits both in s17 and bts photos of s18 have her wearing various articles of tweed clothing

Yeah, I guess the wardrobe person decided with Kirsten that Penelope's Thing is tweed. Because I noticed that Paget/Emily wears almost exclusively wrap shirts/bodysuits the last two seasons so I guess that's her Thing now and JJ's Thing is jackets and I feel like I remember reading an interview where Kirsten or one of them said they talked to the wardrobe person and picked out their Thing themselves.

And, I'm all for characters having a Thing with their personal style and I know JJ always loved jackets, but I have to go back and see how much tweed and wrap tops Pen and Emily wore in original CM 'cause I don't think they wore that much.

i'm up to season 3 of criminal minds! i just watched the two-parter where penelope gets shot. i have to say as fun as penelope and derek's flirtation whatever thing is, the two-parter actually upset me a little with the handling of their relationship. it really portrayed penelope as actually liking derek as more than flirty work husband - she gets upset when he advises that maybe she shouldn't go out with the rando hottie that asks her out (like, he doesn't want to actually date her but he doesn't want to see anyone else date her either type vibes), and then later when derek says he loves her, penelope's face low key killed me? like she looks like she has always wanted to hear those words from him and yet she knows he doesn't mean like IN LOVE love, but she says it back, and she kinda does mean it that way?

i don't know if any of that is what they were going for but that's how i read it.

well i know they never get together so maybe it makes all of their flirtation a bit less fun. but probably it's just personal feelings getting in the way, cause god forbid an unconventional woman ever get attention from a hottie :) even within the episode she's totally duped and shot by a guy and the whole time it's like 'yeah that's sus this hot guy is into you!!' and then my girl penelope feels like a dumbass at the end. ;_;
