Her business was booming. She did everything she worked for. Everything she had ever dreamed of. It was a business for many things. One that supported women, men, children, those less fortunate, etc. She was so proud of herself. Though, she felt like...something was wrong. Like. This wasn't the end of her story. Like she was missing something. She felt empty. It didn't make sense. She got everything she wanted. Her father was happy for her and she had friends. She was happy. "Hey, Kiddo. What's up? Something on your mind?" Her father asked. Dr. Carlos Rosette. He was a nice man, gentle and caring. But boy, did he have a mean stare. "It's just...Dad, you ever feel like something is missing in your life? Like...like there's supposed to be more?" She asked. "Hm. I don't think so, why?" "That's how I feel!" Penelope said, her eyes filled with a sort of longing. "Odd. Well, maybe you should go out somewhere, maybe you'll find what you're looking for." Her father concluded. Penelope nodded, "Alright. Thanks, Dad. I love you." She gave him a slightly squeeze in her embrace before leaving. "Be safe!" "I will." Maybe she will find her missing thing. But. What even was it? Was it a person? A thing? An animal? She bumped into someone as she walked in front of a café. It always felt warm for her. Like something was there for her all the time. She fell on the floor. "Sorry." She simply said as she got up, looking at the guy. The guy looked back at her, "My apologies. I should've watched where I was going. You're not hurt, right?" He asked her as he helped her up. "No. I'm fine. Don't fuss over me." She said, kind of coldly. "You sure? That seemed like it hurt. Ah, your hand! You've got scratches from the floor." He took her hand and looked over at it. "Here, let me help you." He grabbed a handkerchief from his pocket and placed it on the bleeding hand. Penelope sighed softly to herself. At least he was being nice. "I'm sorry for that. Uh. Maybe you should head home and get that cleaned. It doesn't seem that bad." "Alright. Uhm, what's your name per chance?" "Oh, it's Franklin." "Penelope." "Nice to meet you. Sorry again for bumping into you, Penelope. I wasn't watching where I was going. My deep apologies." He said. They both looked into their eyes and for them...something felt...right. "I feel like...I know you." Franklin muttered. Penelope nodded, agreeing to the feeling. This felt annoying. But whatever. It felt like her missing thing was him. And it seemed that way for him as well. "Ah, I should go. My wife is waiting for me at home. Farewell, Miss Penelope." Franklin said before walking away. Penelope felt empty again. It made no sense. What did it mean? Was he really her missing thing? How? It felt like romance. Care. Admirational love. Just. Everything in the love aspect at times. How? He was married. There wasn't a way for her to have anything with him. And they don't know each other. She didn't believe it. She just opted to head home and clean her injury. Franklin. It was his name. But... He seemed like he'd go by a different name in preference by the way he said it. Strange guy. She felt the same sometimes. "Oh, I should probably bring Dad the newspaper." She said before heading to a newspaper rack and grabbed one out after putting her quarter in. She looked through it, skimming through some stuff before heading home. "Hey, that Franklin guy is on the newspaper. Hah." She said aloud to herself. She folded it back up and continued to walk.

Penelope's Debut Dress, Episode 1

I love this dress! It's one of the only Penelope dresses this season with the Season 3 fit that doesn't cut the bust in half. The undertones of greenish-yellow on the cream fabric look lovely with her red hair, and the jewelery is understated and elegant for her presentation to the Queen. No notes.

2. Pink Floral Dress, Episode 2

She looks so fru-fru in the best possible way. The floral embellishments pop here and there without looking garish, and the accessories of her frilled sheer gloves and the flower-and-ribbon headpiece tie everything together so sweetly. Her hair is great too, with the one long ringlet.

3. Lacy Green Dress, Episode 3

Give Penelope more greens like this! Her hair almost reminds me of 1960s updo, and the diadem and necklace tie in well with the lace overskirt. I love the scallopy pattern of the flowers on the lace, it makes her look a bit mermaid-y!

4. Pink Feather(ington) Dress, Episode 6

This one is just so delicate and ethereal, the feathered appliques against the pink satin bodice make her look like an angel. Do you see her walking down the hallway, with that pleated skirt flowing behind her? The only thing that doesn't work with this look is the necklace, it's just too harsh for the softness of the other accessories.

5. Pink Fern Dress, Episode 3

1989 Little Mermaid, take notes. This is how you do red hair with a vibrant shade of pink.

6. Garden Ballgown, Episode 1

So pretty, almost fairy-like with the sprinkling of little flowers in her hair. Something about the overskirt with the flowers climbing up over the already flowery fabric reminds me of a rambling meadow. I don't even mind the polyester gloves, because at least they match decently well.

7. Butterfly Ballgown, Episode 1

Is it in your face? Obviously. Is it giving more Art Nouveau than 1813? Yes. But a little campy? Her prettiest yellow dress? Inexplicable how she could blend into a crowd in something like this? Yeh

8. 'Sunflower' Dress, Episode 3

Probably one of the most historically accurate costumes all season. In certain lights it gets into the nauseating yellow green that I hate on Pen, and the pink gloves are heinous, but I give love the froofy like gathered sleeves, the lower cut of the bust, and the details of the train.

9. Regency Barbie, Episode 7

Nicola Coughlan and the costume designers really predicted Diplomat Babrie all the way back in 2020. The little band of posies around the bust really makes this look for me, thought I could do without the big chunky necklace. Portia definitely picked that out for her.

10. Yellow Walking Dress, Episode 4

Cute! So cute! The shimmery polka dots remind me of a Barbie doll yet again, and the light pink trimming and rosettes under the sleeves make this one memorable for me. Surprisingly simple for a Penelope look.

11. Flowered Promo Dress, Episode 3

I do prefer the promo version with the tiara to the flower, but I'm not mad at it. I think I'd find this dress very over-the-top if it had flowered appliques all the way down, but the way they peter out into tendrils across the skirt puts me in the mind of a country garden. It's nice to see some pops of red on Pen.

12. Orange Leaf Dress, Episodes 1 and 3

I wish they gave Penelope more over-the forehead curls as opposed to the little clusters on either side of her face. Little curls on the forehead feel more 1810s than the latter. The yellow adds a lot more dimension to this fabric, and I do prefer the yellow/ruched trim to the yellow and orange ribbon/plain neckline.

13. Engagement Dress, Episode 6

I don't even mind the black waistband. In fact I'm kind of a fan-it's giving Parisian-themed bedroom-but the white lace descending from it rubs me the wrong way. Love her big, fluffy ringlets.

14. Floral Spencer, Episodes 3 and 5

It's giving a bit of Hawaiian shirt, but I kind of love the combination of the froggy green, saffron yellow, and flamingo pink. I like how the appliques overlap the edges of her spencer, the slightly overgrown vibe of some of her flowered looks really scratches my brain.

15. Yellow Flowered Dress, Episode 8

Abhor the way they did her hair here. The fabric is so dainty, but the dress is a little boring, and I hate the chunky necklaces on her.

16. Grandma's Couch Dress, Episode 7

Grandma's couch/pos. A very soft, cushy, slightly musty-smelling couch. Don't like the centered corsage, it doesn't match anything else on the outfit, and they need to stop putting that necklace with so many otherwise nice looks.

17. Pilled Dress, Episode 8

This dress looks like it's wool covered with pills, and the dark green and hot pink of her necklace and hair ornaments respectively pull my eye from the dress, which I honestly don't mind, because the fabric looks itchy as all hell.

18. Yellow Floral Promenade Outfit, Episode 2

If they'd just take away that waistband, give her a gauzier shawl, and stop piling her hair so high, this one wouldn't be half bad.

19. Yellow Dinner Dress, Episode 4

I truly do believe that pinks and greens suit Pen better than these bright yellows, or even just a more pastel yellow.

20. Dandelion Dress, Episodes 3 and 6

I understand why Pen is holding her arms like that, because having those little yellow balls rubbing against my bare skin would drive me absolutely crazy.

21. Meeting Marina Dress, Episode 1

The hair and that big ol' bow really ruin this one. The fabric looks so peachy and light with her red hair, and I just think some soft curls falling around her shoulders would make her look like such a doll.

22. Yellow Upholstery Dress, Episode 5

This looks like a Target throw pillow. Burn than necklace.

23. 'Mine Is Yellow' Evening Gown, Episode 8

I CANNOT STAND the greenish-gray look of the embroidery on the bodice, which is sad because her hair looks perfect. The cut of the bodice is cutting her bust in half.

24. Chartreuse and Pink Dress, Episode 8

Frankly pukey-looking. The pink trim makes it infinitely worse.

25. Tadpole Dress, Episode 1

Something about this fabric just reminds me of those Tiktoks of people putting frog eggs in jars. That pink shawl is not necessary.

Penelope stood on the edge of the dance floor, in a shade of yellow so bright she must have looked like the sun, and yet she felt quite invisible.

There were a few pink rosettes embroidered on the lace around her neckline, but it was a very poor compromise in her opinion. Her mother said that yellow was a “happy color,” and yet Pen always felt anything but happy while wearing it. She missed when she was younger and she wore blues and greens and pinks and purples and creams—dresses made from castoffs of her sisters, refitted to be a bit shorter and a bit wider.

Now she was cinched tightly into a corset that pushed her bosom up her neck, wearing a well-made dress with an appalling amount of lace and beading, wanting to melt into the wall and hoping someone might ask her to dance.

Marina was on the floor, of course, in the arms of some baron who talked too much and had two left feet. Colin was there with his family, but nowhere to be found. Usually he would be dancing, too, but Pen had yet to see him.

She sipped at her lemonade—taken by her own hand from the refreshments table, because she would never have a man go fetch her a glass—and glanced around the crowd again, lingering on any tall heads of chestnut brown hair, but only saw Anthony and Benedict.

“Looking for someone?”

Pen jumped, sloshing a bit of her drink over her hand. “Colin!”

Valentine's Day with CE characters

Steve Rogers:

Valentine's Day is also James' birthday.

It's James' first birthday, so you, Steve, and James celebrate.

James gets to have his first birthday cake.

Steve gives you flowers, chocolates, and a gold bracelet with James' birthstone in it.

You get a cute card from James, with his tiny thumb prints forming a heart.

Steve also has his thumbprints forming a heart.

You take the thumbprint hearts, and make a customized necklace with both thumb prints on it.

When it arrives, you wear it above the locket with James's first ultrasound in it.

Steve cooks a nice, dinner for the both of you.

James has a chicken nuggets with some mashed potatoes.

You and Steve have meatloaf with mashed potatoes, peas, carrots and pearl onions, and gravy with fresh baked rolls.

Steve and James gave you so many reasons to celebrate Valentine's day.

Steve ends the night by drawing you a nice, relaxing hot bath, and he joins you.

This was the best Valentine's day ever, because you got to celebrate it with your two favorite boys.

Steve kisses you lovingly.

Ransom Drysdale

Like James, the twins will also be one.

Ransom made sure to get two cakes, both saying Happy Birthday on it.

Harlan will be coming later to celebrate the first birthday of his great grandchildren.

Your brother will be coming later.

Harlan is dressed in a handsome suit with a nice, gray tie.

"Sorry, sweetheart. Harlan's suit just doesn't work without his tie. He's being really fussy about it," says Ransom.

Katherine is dressed in a red dress with white tights and black Mary Janes, with a pink cardigan.

"Sorry, sweetheart, Katherine's dress doesn't work without the cardigan. She keeps crawling away from me," says Ransom.

Eventually, Katherine crawls towards Ransom, when she sees Harlan with Ransom.

Ransom hired a professional photographer to not only get a family photo, but to also get photos of the twins now that they both turned one.

The photographer arrives, and sets up. This is just easier because of your MS, and it saves a trip, and Ransom doesn't have to load in the stroller, which was custom made so that you could take the twins on a walk, and you could also get some exercise.

The photos are taken, and a few days later, you send some of the photos to your dad back in Michigan, a photo to your brother and his family, and one to Harlan.

The twins dive right into their cakes after they have some pasta.

Ransom gives you a journal of all the things he loves about you.

You give Ransom a nice, shawl collar cardigan that he loves.

"Now I get to wear dad sweaters", says Ransom.

"I love you, my favorite sexy Daddy," you say.

Ransom lips crash onto yours.

The twins got a lot of toys, and books.

Ransom reads them a bedtime story while you soak in a nice, hot bath to help soothe your aching body. The twins fall asleep.

Ransom helps you out of the tub, helps you get into your pajamas, and you both fall asleep.

Andy Barber

Andy took the day off to volunteer in Joy's class to that you two can help with the Valentine's party and card exchange.

You're five months pregnant with Penelope.

Joy is wearing a red sweater dress with white tights, and red boots.

Andy got you flowers and some diabetic friendly chocolates.

The other parents make sure that you're eating and also taking care of yourself, seeing as how you were recently diagnosed with type I diabetes.

Andy will be taking you and Joy out to dinner later, and it will be Joy's first time at a restaurant that doesn't have a placemat that involves crayons, a paper placemat, and a kids menu.

Where Andy is taking you is an upscale restaurant that is family and kid friendly, otherwise, he would have your brother babysit Joy.

When you both take Joy home, Andy helps you get dressed for dinner, and he wears a suit. Joy is still in her outfit from before.

You two have a nice dinner. Joy has Swiss steak with mashed potatoes, and you and Andy have Swiss steak with baked potatoes and seasonal roasted veggies.

Joy tries some of the veggies.

The dessert menu has several diabetic friendly options.

Joy has a chocolate cupcake.

Andy has tiramisu and you have chocolate fudge pudding cake.

You, Joy and Andy arrive home.

You help Joy get into her nightgown.

Andy and you get into your pajamas.

Andy and you end the night in a lovemaking session, then go to sleep.

You and Andy shower together the next morning.

Colin Shea

You're in bed, sick with a cold the entire day.

Colin takes care of you the entire day.

Chicken soup? Done. Hot tea with honey and lemon? Done. Serenading you with songs on his guitar? Done. Watching movies with you? Done. Chicken soup by the bowlful? Done.

He even feeds you the soup.

Colin watches you sleep.

Too bad, because he really wanted to treat you to a nice dinner.

But snuggling in bed when you're not busy sleeping is a nice way to spend Valentine's Day, too.

You took care of him when he had appendicitis.

Any excuse to spend the day in bed together is what Colin looks forward to.

He makes up for the dinner later.

During the day, he showers you with cards, songs, chocolate, and even gets you a stuffed bear that looks like Captain America that says "Get Well Soon".

You need to be sick more often because you had Colin taking care of you.

Jake Jensen

Jake has an amazing night planned.

It begins with Jake ordering Chinese because he tried to cook for you.

The dinner, which was a simple dish of chicken, mashed potatoes, and mixed veggies was somehow burned, cold, and somehow, the smoke alarm went off.

Cooking isn't Jake's forte.

Jake should stay out of the kitchen.

The food arrives, and Jake dishes it out.

He lights some candles, and turns off the lights.

You two have a candle lit dinner, so there's that.

He's all flustered, but he manages to propose.

You say yes.

Your engagement ring is a simple, round solitaire in a white gold setting.

The rest of the night goes by in a blur.

You both play Scrabble, then play Mario Kart.

The next day, you two just play Monopoly, and then Animal Crossing.

You can't wait to start wedding planning.

You two just want to enjoy this for a while.

Frank Adler

Frank and you don't really make a huge deal of Valentine's day.

You two go out for a pizza, and bring Mary along.

It's a pretty low-key Valentine's day.

You both watch a movie with Mary.

The next day, the three of you spend time doing a puzzle.

Then, you three of you play Scrabble.

Frank and Mary spell something out for you on the Scrabble board.

They both spell out "Will you marry me?"

You say yes.

Your engagement is a simple solitaire in a white gold setting.

It's the best Valentine's day because you got to spend it with the man you loved, and his daughter.

His daughter has also fallen in love with you.

Johnny Storm

After your dinner, you and Johnny are busy burning some calories.

You come, and Johnny follows.

You and Johnny have only been engaged for three months, but have been together for three years.

You conceive your son Jake on this night.

Johnny showers you with gifts. You get stuffed animals, flowers, chocolates, even blank cards professing his love for you.

You feel bad because you got him a card, and his favorite candy.

You even cook him his favorite meal, which is chicken parmesan.

You make up for it, because on your anniversary, you give him a journal of everything you love about him, memories. and even a scrapbook of your favorite couple moments.

At the end of the journal and the scrapbook is an ultrasound photo.

Johnny kisses you lovingly.

"I can't wait for this next stage, and I can't wait to be a dad. You'll make the most amazing mom ever."

Next year, Johnny dresses Jake as Cupid, and helps Jake fire arrows at your heart.

Each arrow has a message on it, giving another reason why Johnny loves you.

It's so cute, fluffy, and romantic at the same time.

You love Johnny even more.

You both get married at Disney World later that year.

Fictional character ask: any interaction of Barbie

Sure thing! I'm gonna do my personal favorite...Barbie as Rapunzel!!

Favorite thing about them: SO. MANY. THINGS. From her passion for art and all things beautiful to her kind and empathetic nature and determination to stop at nothing to gain her freedom, this character has too many good qualities to pick just one. Random fact about me, Barbie as Rapunzel served as my introduction to the fairy tale "Rapunzel", and, although the Barbie version of the story deviates significantly from the source material (which I should cite as the most well-known version, the Grimm Brothers' version), it remains, to this day, one of my favorite takes on the story, as well as the character, especially given how they expanded upon her personality and how she reminds me so much of myself.

Least favorite thing about them: It just hurts so much to watch her suffer at the hands of Gothel. Heck, I'm even starting to think that this version of Mother Gothel was far more emotionally abusive to her than Disney's iteration. I mean, she didn't murder her love interest, but she took pride in destroying everything Rapunzel loved, sadistically reducing her paintings and the magic paintbrush to splinters. She also says some downright horrible things to her. And even after all that, Rapunzel is willing to forgive her and try to redeem her. I myself would not have been so forgiving. I can't even imagine myself in that kind of situation, much less remaining so strong-willed after dealing with it for an extended period of time. What's worse is that this kind of abuse (without the magic, of course) exists in the real world, and thousands of kids around the world are going through it as I speak, with no way to escape...and that makes scenes like that all the more painful to endure.

Three things I have in common with them:

I am an incredibly artistic person.

I may fret or despair at first when I encounter a problem, but then I stop at nothing to solve it, either by myself or with some help from my friends.

I am not afraid to stand up for myself and call people out for being unjust.

Three things I don’t have in common with them:

I don't have a magic paintbrush that transports me to other lands or makes new dresses for me. (BOOOOOOOO!!!)

I don't have a pet dragon. (ALSO BOOOOOOO!!!)

I've never been shut away from the rest of the world and made a servant for someone else (YAY!)

Favorite line: "'Constant as the stars above, always know that you are loved'....I'm going to be free!" Also, it's a small one, but "Hmm...I wonder..." before she begins to experiment with the magic paintbrush to create dresses for the masked ball.

brOTP: Her and Penelope! They have such great chemistry together. Also her and Stefan's little sisters! She would be such a fantastic mother figure for them.

OTP: Her and Prince Stefan!

nOTP: This is a no-brainer, but her and Gothel.

Random Headcanon: Since it's technically canon that Barbie is an actress and plays all those roles we saw her in over the years, including this one, I like to think that this remains one of Barbie's favorite roles of all time, as well as one of her favorite projects. Also, as anything is possible in Barbie's world, I also like the idea of her having a magic paintbrush/hairbrush in real life.

Unpopular Opinion: I've got a couple, actually. First off, I may be one of the few who thinks this, but I like Barbie as Rapunzel way more than Disney's Tangled. Tangled is a great movie and I love Disney's take on Rapunzel, but Barbie as Rapunzel has always resonated with me a lot more for a number of reasons, ranging from the massive nostalgia and sentiment I get from it and the characters being so fun and likeable to the perfect fairytale atmosphere it emits. Another opinion I have that may be unpopular is that I prefer the doll version of her purple ball gown over the one that appeared in the film. The flowy iridescent sleeves, satin rosettes, and swirly pattern on the skirt just make it all the more beautiful and princessy!

"Oh, just that the Silvas are enjoying themselves, that their choices on the marital market are questionable and that she wonders if it will prevail."

"Questionable?" Noelle asked, almost offended. "Why should anyone care that our choices are not within the ton or whatever? And why would you be a questionable choice, Rosette? You are a noble from this country and from a great house even!"

"But I have a reputation for being unhealthy and frail, I was invisible and overshadowed, not to mention that for most idiots out there I have no personality. Oh, and let's not forget that most of my garderobe is grey."

Rosette was talking matter of factly, but her smug grin showed again who she truly was. After all, Solids fiancée made strength out of all those so-called weaknesses.

"Give me, Rosetta, what else did she wrote?" Helena asked, taking the paper in her hands. "Dios Mio, why is she so mean to poor miss Penelope Featherington? It is not her fault her mamà puts her into such colors that don't suit her and she is a sweet person!"

"Lady Featherington has a questionable sense of fashion for her daughters, this is true," Nebra added. "Oh, citrus colors can be good, but it's not for everyone."

"There is also something about Lord Leopold... Oh, and Cressida Cowper gets her shade as well."

"Well, I have to agree on that, Cressida is a bitch, almost as much as Rosettes sister," Noelle pouted, still a bit upset that her family got the shade of Lady Whistledown today. It was true that Asta more or less comes out of nowhere, but this was no reason to remind it almost every time!

Okay, the time when she called Helena a diamond and mentioned that diamonds usually came from foreign countries had been clever. Lady Whistledown also mentioned her admiration for Zoras sharp tongue last week, when it was about putting two of Nebras suitors into place. Or the time when she complimented Rosette for her shining natural complexion while other ladies of the ton never were able to have the perfect paleness with make-up. And she even applauded Asta once for standing up against nobles... even though she also mentioned that he should be more calm and polite with his critics in the same sentence.

"There is something about the Bridgertons as well... Hey, Nebra!"

"Of course there is something about the Bridgertons. There is always something about this family and today is the wedding of the viscount with miss Kathani Sharma. Speaking up, we better get ready, the boys are waiting. Has anyone seen my teal gloves?"

"Here Nebra. Rosette, are you ready?"

"Almost, I just need to choose my ribbon for the day. So, what goes with my silver dress? Let's see... Hm, lavender purple, azure blue or spring green?"

Yes, the Silvas have taken some liberties within the ton this season, more than during the last, but they weren't the only ones and after some hurdles, they were happy. Happier than anyone would imagine within the standards of the ton.

She was very happy that they were invited to the wedding of Anthony Bridgerton and Kathany Sharma. Oh, it seemed like a formality, but Helena knew that it was certainly a sign of gratitude. After all, during the Featherington Ball, the four Silva couples had been the only ones to remain on the dancefloor with lord Bridgerton and miss Sharma.

Background: 

As a child, Angor knew life to be simple and pure: his parents were there to guide him, teaching him to hunt and survive in the wilds, learning to read the signs--anything and everything he would ever need to know in life. True, he had learned a harsh lesson here and there, but for a long time he believed that his life was perfect and he was content to continue down the path he believed to be his own.

One day, however, tragedy struck when the war erupted between humans and trolls and came to his home village. With his family struggling to defend themselves from the chaos, Angor began searching for a way to help save his home and keep his family safe--the answer coming to him in the form of the Daylight Amulet. Donning the armor, he was able to push back the threat--for a short time. Believing he couldn’t truly protect his loved ones, Angor began searching for a way to obtain more power from a being whose name chilled him to the core: Morgana.

Traveling farther than he’d ever gone before, he found Morgana’s cave and begged her for the power to protect his village in exchange for his flesh. She granted his wish--at the cost of his soul. But before his soul could be sealed away in the Inferna Copula, the amulet reacted and pulled it into itself. Horrified by what had transpired, he’d barely managed to escape Morgana’s fury at having lost her chance to destroy the amulet and made the slow trek back to his home village. He now had the power he sought, but it was a hollow victory as he lamented the loss of his soul within the amulet--so close, and yet out of reach.

Facts:

The amulet had reacted to protect its bearer’s soul, though it is uncertain just how this can be or how he might get it back. He can feel its presence, but he feels...empty, seeking answers to try and free it as he fought to survive and protect the trolls he was now bound by duty to protect.

Due to the presence of his soul within the amulet, he is able to feel some emotions to an extent. These emotions are rare and treasured, and he finds himself feeling less empty when it comes to being surrounded by those he shares a bond with.

Sometimes he will find himself getting overwhelmed, unable to comprehend how he’s feeling and oftentimes shutting down and becoming a recluse. In recent years it’s been easier to deal with, where he finds solace in embracing the closest person he shares a bond with.

There is no set pattern to who he will seek consolation from, his footsteps taking him where he can get to the closest person from where he stands. For example, if he’s in Trollmarket, he might seek out one of his troll friends, while the next if he’s patrolling the surface world he might seek out one of the few human allies he considers friends. If he’s on the surface and Trollmarket happens to be closer, however, he will travel to Trollmarket versus his human ally.
