This is just off the top of my head, so it’s not the most complete list, but here’s a few:

Two Boys Kissing by David Leviathan. This is a story about the lives of a bunch of different mlm teenagers and it’s narrated by a Greek-style chorus of men who died of AIDS. It has really beautiful writing in it, and it made me laugh and cry a lot. Plus one of them is a trans boy!

Every Heart a Doorway by Seanan McGuire. Sometimes kids who wander into fantasy worlds find their way back into our own, but it isn’t always easy to cope with that. Nancy goes to Eleanor West’s Home for Wayward Children, a place meant to help children like her readjust. It’s a murder mystery with magic with an asexual main character

Everyday by David Levithan. A story about a teenager who wakes up in a different body. It’s a cool story idea that’s done very well. Like, it could have been done with a straight boy being the main character, but instead, it’s the most pansexual nonbinary character that’s ever been written without directly stating either of those terms. (Though it’s more romance-focused than books I usually like)

Circle of Magic by Tamora Pierce. It’s made of three series of four books (so far) and the LGBT+ representation doesn’t show up until the third series, or at least it isn’t revealed that some of the major characters aren’t straight until then, but if you don’t mind that, it’s definitely a great read. It takes place in a fantasy world that includes characters from far more parts of the world than a western-Europe based region. It’s about found family and magic beyond the traditional academic type that comes from nature or from crafts

Firebringer (a musical on youtube by Starkid). A comedy about prehistoric humans who invent fire and have to deal with the consequences.

I’ve started reading the Lynburn Legacy by Sarah Rees Brennan which has at least one wlw character, but I don’t know how great of representation it is yet. 

Followers are encouraged to add because this isn’t the biggest range of genres and I don’t really know any LGBT+ movies or music. I wanted to just give a quick summary of everything on here, but if anybody wants to know more about any of these books/musical just ask! I could honestly talk all day about any one of them

What is Nonbinary?

Nonbinary means that your gender exists outside the gender binary. It’s not being just male, or just female, or even anything to to with those at all. It’s a giant spectrum of people who don’t identify as a single, binary gender.

Myths and Misconceptions:

We’re not “confused”. We’re not “attention seeking”. We’re not just “going through a phase”. We get those sorts of comments even from other trans people. It’s not just a style, it’s an actual gender.

What is it like to be Nonbinary?

It’s been both confusing and a huge relief, to know that I’m not crazy, that I don’t have to choose between male or female. I spent the last 26 years thinking I was broken, that something was wrong with me. I’m not broken. I’m nonbinary. I can live as myself, happily, unapologetically.

Tips and Tricks for being Nonbinary:

You can do whatever you please, but a few things that have helped with my own presentation: makeup is a huge gamechanger. Not only can you make your face look more femme, you can make it look more masc, too. There are tons of tutorials on youtube. I’ve also started mixing between femme and masc presentation for my hair, clothes, and everything else.

Above all else, just remember that no matter how you present, you are nonbinary. There’s no right or wrong way to be nonbinary. Just live your truth and you’ll be fine.

1.Do you want a boyfriend or girlfriend?

I currently have a boyfriend.  But I currently identify as pansexual and demisexual, so I care less about my SO’s gender than I do their personality.

2.When did your last hug take place?

Did my sister hug me goodbye before she left the other day?  Not sure; I know Andy did.  So.... wednesday, thursday, something like that.

3.Are you a jealous person?

Yes, but only in very specific situations.  Not of my Andy; I’m not gonna go into the details now, but it’s something I’ve struggled with all my life, and will continue to struggle with.  And that’s okay; as long as I don’t let it get too ahead of me, I should be fine.

4.Are you tired right now?

Yep.  It’s evening, and I’ve been just sitting around for a couple days.  Weirdly, lack of exercise tends to make you sleepy.

5.Do you chew on your straws?

Nope.

6.Have you ever been called a tease?

Not that I recall.

7.Have you ever been awake for 48 hours straight?

Yep.  Never by choice, though.

8.Do you cry easily?

Not so much no.

9.What should you be doing right now?

Watching netflix, browsing tumblr, checking on the doggies occasionally, and wishing today was a good writing day.

10.Are you a heavy sleeper?

Ummm.... only in the middle of my sleep cycle.  Just before waking up and after falling asleep, I’m easily woken.

11.Do you think you can last in a relationship for 6 months?

Well, I’ve been dating Andy for over ten years now, so... yeah.

12.Are you mad at someone right now?

Just the SPN show writers for writing Mark Sheppard out of Spn.

13.Do you believe in love?

Yep.

14.What makes you laugh no matter what?

Ummmm... the Hobbit (the book) makes me smile no matter what, so...

My mom called me earlier today.  Don’t ask, it wasn’t pleasant.

Nope.

Yes.

About a half hour ago, when one of my sister’s doggies had her head in my lap.  She was demanding belly rubs.

Well I certainly hope Andy does.  Waste of a decade, otherwise.  Anyone else, well, you tell me.

Like, anyone real?  Nope.

The dogs.

Going back to work on monday.

French fries.  Came with dinner.

Eeech.  I don’t watch a lotta romantic comedies.  Ummm... gawd it’s really hard not to pick something weird just because Karl’s Ass (Bones girls, you know what I mean).  Must Love Dogs, maybe?

Eh, dunno.  It’d be cool if true.

I MISS MY DESKTOP!

Yep.  Never by someone I felt romantically about though.

I’ve had no experience with them.  I’ve heard they’re difficult.  I suppose, if both parties feel strongly enough about each other and are willing to do the work, they’re quite doable.

Two or three.

Eggplant: Explain your url and avatar.

My URL is from the opening sequence to Torchwood.  The full line is “Outside the government, beyond the police” but that would have made one hella long URL, so I just stuck with outside-the-government.  I was honestly shocked it wasn’t already taken!

My avatar/icon is actually a pic of me holding a balloon bouquet up near my face!  I was volunteering at a local festival a few summers ago and my GF had been admiring the bouquets this one balloon animal artist was making, and so I brought one home for her one day.  Bonus because her cat eats real flowers, so these were a nice substitute!  If you want to see the full picture it’s cropped from, I’ve included it behind the cut! :)
