The most infuriating form of sanism is this idea that mentally ill people/people with mental disorders are just too stupid or too unenlightened to know how to be a proper, well-adjusted person
So many therapists have ignored signs of my unwellness simply because they assumed I was just... being stupid, and I just needed educating about why I'm acting disordered (apparently, mental disorders stop disordering you once you are condescendingly told why you're just disordered and dumb, who knew (sarcasm)).
Like, I could tell them that I knew my behaviour wasn't "rational," wasn't "reasonable" to do or believe and I'd still be treated like I was so dumb I needed hand-holding and scolding about why I'm acting disordered.
I truly wish that people would be able to take the idea of guidance and stop twisting it into "I am superior and enlightened and the people I am trying to help are stupid and wrong and beneath me!"

Open Your Heart
Open your heart wide to God and He will fill it with light and truth in ways you can not even begin to imagine. It is great to chase after God first in our lives. Let's be so!
Truth And Light – God Fills Us It is true that we sometimes sound doubtful as we are asking God: Why have you allowed this to happen in my life? Why aren’t you answering my prayer? Why won’t you stop this cruelty? Do you care about my broken heart? Yes we do ask foolish questions at times, and God reminds us of the answers we already have, as He has already answered us through His Word. Listen…

I think part of the difficulty of sharing certain experiences in healthcare with non-healthcare loved ones is that I'm simultaneously telling a story and teaching physiology or pharmacology or what have you. It's not that I resent this at all, it's just difficult to allow myself to fully experience and express my feelings while also keeping track of what I need to explain. I feel that I often do a bad job translating, and I leave some sentiments lost between us.
#I find this happens most often with grief over patients#I really struggle to convey the severity of certain cases#and annotating those experiences#e.g. saying 'this is very serious' after describing the situation#just doesn't convey the level of detail and acuity of understanding#that I wish I could give them#and that I know healthcare people have as soon as I tell the story#anyway I've been reflecting on this a lot#in part because I feel bad that sometimes it is not enough to tell my boyfriend or my parents what's happened#and I need to talk to another medical friend#and sometimes I just immediately go the medical friend#I often don't tell my non-medical friends anything because I fear I lack the words and it would just stress them out#and I think it's created some distance in my relationships#because there's this big thing I haven't or can't express that I'm always carrying#but I've also been reflecting on it because I'm putting together an elective for preclinical students#which among other things touches on grief in healthcare#I'm trying to offer whatever guidance I can#also I saw some fucked up shit on my neurosurgery sub-I and I'm still trying to figure out how to share that with people#I don't have any good answers yet#medicine#medblr#med school#med student#my content#my text posts

Medication adherence is a crucial aspect of patient health and treatment outcomes. Pharmacists play a vital role in helping patients improve medication adherence through various strategies and interventions. Understanding Medication Adherence
Medication adherence refers to how well a patient follows their prescribed medication regimen. This includes taking the correct dose at the right time and following other instructions related to the medication. Pharmacists are uniquely positioned to help patients with medication adherence, ensuring that they achieve the best possible health outcomes.
Why Medication Adherence Matters

Interactions that restored my faith in people and love and human connection this week:
-My therapist offering me a chunky discount because she wants me to see her every week without worrying about money. She says I am incredibly resilient and she has been where I am before. She also texted me this morning after a rough session last night telling me that she believes in me and can see my bright future even if it's hard for me to see right now.
-My brother apologizing to me this morning after he was kind of snippy at me last night because he was grumpy from work. I had been distracted and honestly just rolled my eyes at him and left him alone. Even though the original interaction wasn't a big deal, it was nice that he cared enough to smooth it over.
-There is a Buddhist temple on my street, and I was on a walk the other day and walked past one of the monks strolling in the opposite direction. We shared a nod and a smile.
#personal#i really want to go to the temple and ask if someone will mentor me#in exchange for doing some chores on the weekend or something#buddhism has always been an interest of mine but i feel i've reached the limit of self-study#and would benefit from direction/guidance#how awkward do i just knock on the door lmaoo#also DAMN i have never had a therapist who actually gave a shit about me as a person and not just a patient before#like this woman cries with me sometimes she checks on me sends me books recommendations and articles#she shares bits of her story where it intersects with mine and like#i WANT to know#the interaction is so much more authentic when we both share and i can see that someone else has made it out of the fire i'm in

Gastrointestinal Surgeries: Myths vs. Facts for Patients
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/d0344834fce8338c3a7a53e6fa908fbd/3211de5b98221bf0-5c/s540x810/9d7361545f2b4cf7994240e1c414b7b714ead8a8.jpg)
Gastrointestinal surgeries (GI surgeries) have become essential treatments for a wide range of digestive health issues, offering patients relief from debilitating conditions. Despite their importance, gastrointestinal surgeries are often surrounded by several myths and misconceptions that can cause unnecessary anxiety among patients. Understanding the facts about GI procedures is crucial for anyone considering or preparing for surgical treatment for digestive disorders. In this blog, we will debunk common myths about gastrointestinal surgeries and provide you with accurate information so that you can make informed decisions about your health.
At Healix Hospitals, we prioritize providing healthcare guidance for patients undergoing gastrointestinal surgeries, ensuring they have the knowledge they need for a smooth and successful recovery.
Common Myths About Gastrointestinal Surgeries
Myth 1: Gastrointestinal Surgeries Are Only for Serious Conditions
One of the most prevalent misconceptions about GI surgeries is that they are reserved only for life-threatening conditions. In reality, gastrointestinal surgeries can treat a wide variety of digestive health problems, both severe and mild. These include issues such as chronic acid reflux, inflammatory bowel disease, gallstones, hernia, and obesity. Many times, GI procedures are elective and can significantly improve a patient's quality of life by addressing chronic discomfort, digestive disorders, or other underlying issues.
Myth 2: Gastrointestinal Surgeries Are Extremely Risky
Many people believe that undergoing gastrointestinal surgery comes with high risk, especially when it comes to anesthesia, post-surgical complications, and long-term effects. However, the advancements in surgical techniques and technology, especially in the field of surgical gastroenterology, have significantly reduced risks. Minimally invasive surgeries, such as laparoscopic procedures, have revolutionized the way GI surgeries are performed. These procedures involve smaller incisions, reduced recovery time, and lower risk of infection.
Myth 3: Recovery from Gastrointestinal Surgery Takes Months
Another common misconception is that recovery from gastrointestinal surgery is a lengthy and difficult process. While it’s true that recovery times can vary based on the procedure and the patient’s overall health, many patients can return to their normal activities within a few weeks. Thanks to modern surgical methods and the emphasis on GI surgery preparation tips, recovery can be swift and manageable.

How to React When Wronged: Insights from an Ancient Proverb
In life, we all face moments when we are wronged. Whether it’s a harsh word from a colleague, an unjust decision at work, or a betrayal by a friend, the immediate instinct might be to seek revenge or retaliate. However, an ancient piece of wisdom offers a different perspective on how to respond in such situations: “Don’t say, ‘I will get even for this wrong.’ Wait for the Lord to handle the…
