Day 112. Reached a city called Gotham. I'm getting pretty tired of walking everywhere and hitching rides wherever I can. Maybe I'll check things out? People have a lot of bad things to say about this place but maybe that's what I need. Nobody would ever think to look for me here, not with all the crime and crazy things they say happens in Gotham.
... This place is perfect. Okay it's not great but it sure beats travelling through the woods getting jumped by bears and whatever the fuck is hiding out there? People here are happy to ignore me as long as I don't get too close or talk to them. That's fine by me. I don't want to attract attention. So far what I've learned is that I need to be careful of... clowns? Anybody with face paint or a bright red nose, things like that all mean trouble in this city. Apparently it's because of someone called the Joker? He and Harley Quinn are dangerous. Trouble is there are other people like them but they're all different. I don't know who or how many. This is going to be a lot to remember. I'll write more as I hear it.
#the-shattered-seas#memes ;; journal entry#Thank you Draig!#This is greatly appreciated#Khare took quite a while getting to Gotham haha#Nothing really significant happened along the way it was just a LOT of walking#Walking and hitching the occasional ride aka pretending to be a bus passenger for a stop or two#Dark dreary rainy city that looks miserable to live in? (He)Art Attack!
Felt a bit lazy today so didn’t write anything as storms always make me drowsy, but I did draw - particularly my shitty One Piece OC, Passenger Khare in her dragon form in a fuller, more detailed style! Also added are a few other pieces not actually done by me.
Khare’s been a dragon for a while here now and has been in a few fights, mostly against creatures like Sea Kings or larger, more aggressive animals but sometimes you get the odd pirate or marine who are either terrified of a big fuck off dragon or think that the scales on her back really are made of gold. The dragon that ‘carries a mountain of treasure on it’s back’ has been hunted a few times but really, this Mythic Zoan just wants to get her identity back and try to raise her newly adopted child well. He wanted fish for supper, hence the fishing.
Smol birthday gift for @laws-hat-headcanons a while back. It’s not that impressive compared to your skills, I’m sorry, but I really wanted to wish you a happy birthday all the same and draw Arayya since she’s a lovely OC who is delightfully buff n’ tuff!
These last two clearly weren’t drawn by me (especially since I waaaaay lack that level of talent!!!) but a very lovely and wonderful person draw Khare’s human form as a gift not once but twice, because I am terrible at drawing people and yet thought it was a great idea to make such a complicated-looking muse??? Enjoy Khare’s human (resting bitch face) face, people - as well as X Drake snuggles! I didn’t mention names in case they wanted to keep that quiet but the person who did these? They are an absolute gem and one of the loveliest and kindest people I’ve ever spoken to here on tumblr and deserves much love coming their way!!!!
#my art#not my art#blue's thoughts#didn't have it in me for writing#but drawing yes#Passenger Khare#Arayya#Just smol things today#Been stormy and wet all day so mostly sleepy in between the work#enjoy a silly dragon and other stuff people#one piece#<3#x drake

Nar Auk became a hero of the Burmese people by using the wealth he amassed as a successful businessman to resist the British Empire’s powerful Irrawaddy Flotilla Company and help the poor evade exploitation by British and Indian merchants. Today, 115 years after his death, the temple he built in Mon State continued to draw admirers. The Irrawaddy revisits this profile of the revered patriot from May 2013.
As far as tycoons go, Nar Auk was one of a kind in Burma.
A cattle boy turned entrepreneur during British colonial days, he used his wealth to fight against Britain’s powerful Irrawaddy Flotilla Company and to help the country’s poor avoid exploitation by British and Indian businessmen. In the process, he became a hero to the Burmese people of the era by accomplishing what most of his contemporaries could not: slashing the profit margins of foreign businesses.
Born in 1832 to farming parents, Nar Auk, ethnic Mon, got his entrepreneurial start by launching a timber business with the help of a local boss, and he later expanded to the paddy trade, the steamship industry and money lending. Nobody would have imagined that the boy from Khare village, about 10 miles (16.09 km) from the Mon State capital Moulmein, would earn a reputation as a national patriot, but he moved quickly, with his fight against giant British companies earning him a spot in the history textbooks of government elementary schools.
This year marks the 100th anniversary of Nar Auk’s passing, but the temple he built in Kawhnat village still glows, and people there continue to sing praises to his efforts.
“U Nar Auk’s goal was to liberate poor people from the exploitation of British and Indian businessmen,” said Aye Cho, who oversees the temple, adding that the Burmese entrepreneur represented not only his village in Mon State, but also the entire country, as a patriot.
Years after accumulating wealth through his timber business in Burma and neighboring Thailand, Nar Auk entered the money-lending business and paddy trading. He knew that foreign businessmen charged excessive interest on loans to local people and paid low prices to purchase farm land, and he wanted to operate differently. He pulled many customers away from Chinese and Indian businessmen by offering low interest rates to farmers and buying paddy fields for higher prices. The money lending business was not profitable for Nar Auk, but given his family’s background, he empathized with local farmers and wanted to help break their cycle of poverty.
In 1910, he pioneered a new business by establishing the Burmese Steam Navigation and Trading Company. He sent his educated shareholder, Shwe Hlay, to buy nine ships—eight double deckers and one single decker—from McKie & Baxter Company of Glasgow, Scotland. He also built a dock for the ships in the town of Mottama, opposite Moulmein.
Nar Auk’s steamship company started plying the lower Thanlwin, Attaran and Gyaing rivers, routes previously used by the British-owned Irrawaddy Flotilla Company, which operated passenger and cargo ferries.
The Irrawaddy Flotilla was threatened by Nar Auk’s new company. Nar Auk charged the same fare, but he allowed monks, nuns, the elderly and children to ride for free. As a devout Buddhist, it was merit for him. But for the British, it meant a huge loss of customers.
A sort of fare warfare then ensued. The Irrawaddy Flotilla cut its fare by half in a bid to win back passengers. In response, Nar Auk reduced his prices more, prompting the British company to slash its fares again, until both sides decided to let everyone ride for free.
Later, ferry customers were offered gifts, in addition to the free ride. The competition also affected other areas of business, with “dock warfare” developing as both sides went to court for rights to embark and disembark from the main jetties.
In the end, however, Nar Auk could not overpower the giant British company. After years of competition, he was forced to give way and sell his ships to the Irrawaddy Flotilla.
His biographer, Kalyana, wrote: “The Irrawaddy Flotilla Company, with a capital of 200 million pounds, was able to exert tremendous and sustained pressure on U Nar Auk’s company, which had limited resources (capital of 1 million rupees).”
Still, Nar Auk’s intentions were clear. In a notice released to advertise his company in 1910, he wrote: “The present enterprise will, it is hoped, show to the world at large that in this direction and others, the Burman is quite capable of holding his own with other races.”
Kalyana wrote in the biography that the Burmese businessman won his fame not because of his abundant wealth, but because of his benevolence and patriotic spirit. Now, his reputation may be spreading not only among the Burmese, but also among foreigners, as the biography was translated into English for the first time last year.
Sitting inside Nar Auk’s temple, Aye Cho said more foreign tourists had started to visit, although the site is not listed in tourist guidebooks. Local guides tend to bring foreigners as a bonus during more established tours, he said.
Looking at the temple’s guest book, the ethnic Mon said that in January alone, about 400 tourists from Germany, Switzerland, France and other countries stopped by. Many tourists were so impressed, he said, that “some visited here twice.”

1000's Of Mangroves To Be Affected By Bullet Practice Undertaking
http://tinyurl.com/y4wwjluf Mumbai: 1000’s of mangroves will probably be affected by the Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet prepare venture, the Maharashtra authorities has stated. The 508-km line that will price Rs 1.1 lakh crore would want 270 hectares from Maharashtra, which incorporates mangrove forests. Mangroves assist stop flooding and work as a wall of defence in coastal areas. Destruction of mangroves can go away coastal areas uncovered and weak to pure disasters. Maharashtra Transport Minister Diwakar Raote stated the federal government will do its finest to make sure the mangroves are usually not affected. 5 saplings will probably be planted for each mangrove that is affected by the bullet prepare venture, Mr Raote informed NDTV. He stated the venture will not hurt the setting or trigger any flooding in the long term. The NHSRCL, the implementing company of the bullet prepare venture, on Saturday stated it has reworked the design of the station in Maharashtra’s Thane to scale back the variety of affected mangroves from the estimated 53,000 to 32,044. “That with out altering the placement of Thane station, in what all methods can we scale back the Mangrove area – that is what we mentioned that design with Japanese engineers and modified it accordingly,” Nationwide Excessive Velocity Rail Corp. Ltd managing director Achal Khare stated in an announcement. “Passenger areas just like the parking space and passenger dealing with space have now been moved out of the mangrove area. The situation of station is identical however after redesigning it, earlier 12 hectare mangrove area was getting affected in Thane, however now solely three will get affected. So this manner, now we have lowered round 21,000 mangroves and now solely 32,044 mangroves will get affected from your entire venture. Earlier there have been round 53,000 mangroves getting affected,” Mr Khare stated. Surroundings activists and the opposition alleged the lack of mangroves would add stress on the coast as increasingly more areas are dealing with excessive climate occurrences. “There’s an setting affect to it and I feel the venture has been sanctioned with none scrutiny and public debate. There will probably be environmental penalties. I hope they observe due means of going by the NGT (Nationwide Inexperienced Tribunal) and getting clearances from the forest ministry,” Congress chief Prithviraj Chavan informed NDTV. Consultants say mangroves are usually not like different timber that may be transplanted due to their large, deep roots. “Mangroves and neighborhood of it’s the place you get potable water sooner or later. India’s largest problem is water at the moment and when you do not preserve your wetlands, you’re doomed. So it would not must be the case the place nature must be sacrificed each time. There are methods round it and we’re telling authorities about it,” stated environmentalist Stalin Dayanand. So, let me ask you about your OCs! I would love to know how many you have, their names, if you have any main one, the one you like/love most, with who you ship them and I you would like them to meet mine(lol). So throw me all the info you want to share. -Ai-
Oh fugg, you’ve only gone and done it now, Ai. Buckle up for the ride, kids, I’m about to bore you shitless with my lame ass OC’s… well, one of them anyway, but it’s less of an OC but probably more of a self-reflection as to what my story might be in One Piece? That’s right, I’m one of those disgusting self-inserts so feel free to hate on it since I already hate myself enough, lmao.
A new challenger has appeared! Introducing… Passenger Khare! Her backstory is a bit of an odd one as she never used to have any great ambitions and would have been quite happy just living as a simple civilian somewhere in South Blue. Originally she came from North Blue and used to be friends with X Drake back when they were children since his father was still working with the Marines at the time. Thanks to Germa 66 and the ‘Conquest of Four Nations’ however, Khare’s homeland was devastated and she forced to flee alongside her mother. Her father was killed in the war against Vinsmoke Judge, so naturally Khare’s carried a bit of a grudge ever since. Her problems started when her identity was completely erased by a rogue Devil Fruit user. The ability of their fruit was supposed to be a concept on the idea of identity swapping, meaning that you could pin certain actions and events on somebody else. For example, you could make Luffy think Arlong was responsible for Ace’s death* and would adamantly believe it too until confronted by the truth. For some reason, this person either didn’t have the hang of their abilities or went completely over the top, effectively striking Khare out of history - her mother could look her own child in the face and refuse to believe it’s her. (Actually thinking back on it now, a better explanation would be to switch ‘events’ caused by one person to another? Essentially framing somebody for another’s crimes like Kuro wanted to do to some random dude)There are other problems with this issue too, in that Khare is very hard to notice or easily overlooked by most people. They quickly forget what she looks like as well, effectively becoming ‘faceless’ in their minds. The stronger one’s Haki is however, the more easily she’s noticed/remembered so when Khare fled home to look for the person responsible for stealing her name, it was difficult to say the least. She’d have to stow away on ships, moving from island to island in hopes of catching up or finding the person through tracking their bounty.About a year into this ‘drifter’ lifestyle, the ship that Khare was currently hiding on began to sank after a battle against the Marines - so she jumped off the side and swam to a distant island where there was little food and less water. Despite being unnoticable to most people, animals such as Sea Kings can notice her just fine, so swimming elsewhere wasn’t really an option. Her only options were to starve to death, risk being eaten or hope another ship came by.And there it was; a Devil Fruit sitting right there at the island’s oasis. It was a large and ugly blackish-grey fruit with reddish-pink ‘leaves’, but being so hungry, Khare ate it anyway and became a Fire Dragon Zoan.Leaving the island behind, Khare wanders the world of One Piece; an insignificant human whom most people ignore… and a dragon that is quite a bit harder to. With new abilities at her disposal, she doesn’t quite go on rampages; instead Khare spends most of her time flying between islands and checking out taverns for new bountries, picking up any pirates or marines that have been shipwrecked, stranded or otherwise left to die at sea. She used to be the unknown passenger and now operates as a ferry-service for those who in need, leaving them in safe places with a bag of gold to tide them over.Where does she get the gold from, you might ask? Well, even when you’re a dragon, sometimes you get bored of fending for yourself and need small things like the comforts of food you haven’t cooked yourself, a warm bed for the night and some good old human company. Raiding bandit strongholds and enclaves works out great in paying for more extravagent luxuries, and simply because like any good dragon out there, who the hell is going to stop you? Name: “Passenger” KhareTitle if a member of the Worst Generation: “Robber Baron”Age: Early thirties, ‘cursed’ about five years prior to the start of Luffy’s adventuresLoves: X Drake (childhood friends)Friends: Scratchmen Apoo, Urouge.Enemies: The entire Vinsmoke family. Will drop the grudge against Sanji when she realizes he’s actually a pretty nice guy despite his father. Favourite food: Shrimp Laksa, South Blue style.Least favourite food: Eggs (bad experience, shared dislike with X Drake)Interests: Aerophysics, warfare, scarves, thinking about getting revenge on Germa 66…Style: Pockets, pockets, pockets. Aviator goggles along with pilot-themed attire. Ugly ass eyeburner scarf. Did I mention pockets for stashing people and loot in? Traits: Androgynous as hell, people aren’t sure whether she’s a boy or a girl. Rugged, windswept hair, face often smudged with soot and smoke bc ashen breath. THICC shoulders and upper body due to all the flying causing small tiddies which she doesn’t like. Short-tall at 5′9, needs to stand on her tippy toes to nuzzle Drake’s chin.Personality/Quirks: Awkward, especially socially after being on her own for so long. Doesn’t believe Fish-Man Island exists and gets incredibly angry when people try to tell her it does. A little lecherous (towards both men and women) and rowdy when she’s had a few too many to drink and will definitely sing rude songs. Sung this song to Apoo once when drunk and somehow he remembers it, never letting her live it down. Hates it whenever he brings the topic up. Feels the cold easily. BAD LANDER.Random fact: Was asked to be Lola’s husband once. Khare genuinely told her the truth in that she was actually a woman and thus wouldn’t make a good husband, but would totally have said yes were she a man. Lola was surprisingly good-natured about it anyway, but felt sad when she couldn’t quite remember Khare’s face after parting ways.
Enjoy bad art of the passenger dragon that ‘carries a mountain of gold’ on it’s back.Other OC’s I’m still creating, but I have one going about a bored, sociopathic Celestial Dragon that left the Holy Land voluntarily because he was so tired of living an easy life of luxurious and wanted excitement. He’s nothing special, he’s just some bored rich kid who does obnoxious things like starting wars between nations for the hell of it. Surprisingly he’s pretty honorable about his ‘bargains’ if they are completed successfully; these ‘requests’ however, while seeming innocent, are actually death traps he’s arranging for his victims (aka please go and steal me this hat. Which hat, you ask? Why, Straw Hat Luffy’s of course! And I’ll give you ten million berries for it!)
#anonymous#oc stuff#haha#I'll be impressed if anyone does read this but she's a lot of fun to me personally#Who expects a dragon to come and pick your ass up?#Who the hell needs Uber anyway#anyways back to requests#Passenger Khare

Passengers on board the bullet train, proposed to run between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, have to shell out anything between Rs 250 to Rs 3,000 depending on their destination, a senior official said. Giving the first official indication of the likely fares of the government’s ambitious project, Achal Khare, the managing director of National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd (NHSRCL), told mediapersons that the fares are based on present projections and calculations. It would be Rs 3,000 between Mumbai and Ahmedabad and as low as Rs 250 between Banda-Kurla Complex and Thane, he said. Khare said, “The fares have been based on present projections and calculations. There would be one business class and the fares for this is likely to be higher than Rs 3,000.” “The journey will be much more affordable and less time consuming than in a flight, if the trip to the airport, getting boarding passes and security checks are taken into consideration,” he said. An official said, a taxi takes anywhere between one and, one and a half hours to travel between Thane and Banda-Kurla Complex and charges around Rs 650. But with the high-speed train, the journey time will come down to only 15 minutes and Rs 250 in fare, he said, adding the fares would be 1.5 times higher than AC first class fares. A train set comprises 10 ‘standard’ coaches, one of which will be business class. Food will be complimentary in business class and will be available in other coaches as well. Khare said construction work under the project could start as early as December this year, by which time land acquisition is expected to be over. The Rediff.com : 14th. Apr,18

12.31.2017 In February 1947, my grandmother Saroj Bapu Khare sailed in a First Class cabin on the Queen Elizabeth from the US en route back to India. She’d been in the US since November 1946; my grandfather had headed to the US for work/study in November 1945, just a few months after the end of WWII and would head back in a few months. For years, we heard stories that she’s been on the boat with Laurel & Hardy and Barbara Stanwyck Taylor - found the ship manifest online. They were all traveling in First Class on that journey. She told us she’d been on the luxury liner (returned with Tupperware, Revereware, massive dollhouse lit with electricity, some 8 or 11 steamer trunks). Now have evidence of her travels and understand more. Been collecting menus and ship info off e-Bay for a few years from these dates. Thank you, too, to @gaiutra Gaiutra Bahadurbfor writing Coolie Woman: The Odyssey of Indenture and reminding me to look for other passengers on the ship, too, to verify her story. Adding whole new dimensions to family stories and history. Going into the New Year thinking about using archives to reveal stories of those who are present, always present, no longer overlooked.

OMG!!! KHARE IS SO MUCH FUN! I already like her so much! Thank you for sharing info about her. I hope she catches the dude who swapped her identity. -Ai-
Thanks very much for being so supportive, friend! I was actually pretty nervous to talk about her at first since there are already so many unoriginal (and probably incorrect) themes behind her backstory, but honestly, it’s just a lot of fun to think about in writing about this socially-awkward anonymous dragon pilot into One Piece? The fact that you find her fun and likable totally made my day as a character doesn’t always have to have a tragic past or even have much of a reason/purpose for existing, there’s adventures and friendships too!
#off topic#needed a quick break from the match up requests so answered quickly to switch brain gears#four match up requests left#but YEAH THANKS FOR LIKING KHARE EVERYONE#She would be so fucking obnoxious actually#The ugliest scarves and literally just griefing the dishonest lives of bandits and wandering vagabonds#Whilst also just picking up stranded pirates and marines#Stashing the fuckers in her many pockets#like wtf man#OKAY that's enough OC geek out#Maybe at some point I will talk more about her and random drabbles#rules987#Sorry for being inconsistent tonight people#Can't concentrate#Passenger Khare

Eye Colour Headcanons
Okay, this is a small list on eyecolours and their descriptions of various One Piece characters, the kind that I imagine when writing more detailed responses. It’s just personally what I think they would look like and you’re most welcome to comment, request or even add your own additions if you feel like it. I may add to the list as time goes on, because there are so many great characters both hero, villain and somewhere in-between that all look so unique so enjoy I guess!
Straw Hats
Monkey D. Luffy; Jet. Actually a very dark brown, but they almost seem to look as though they’re portals to another dimension at times. When Luffy’s enemies look into his eyes, the last thing they see coming is the encoming void - and of the world of pain he’s about to unleash on their day. Warm when happy. Roronoa Zoro; Hazel. The outer rings are a paler shade of green compared to his hair, but the rings around those irises resemble pale flames of gold. Actually very pretty eyes that seem to glow when eager for battle, gleaming with an almost wolf-like hunger. Alternates between warm and cold tones. Nami; Green. They look almost like peridots and sparkle like them too whenever the woman is happy or her gaze captivated by the allure of treasure, her eyes resembling the gems she so loves. Warm to the colour, with subtle hints of gold and emerald in bright light. Sanji; Blue. These are some of the bluest eyes you’ll ever see, matching the summer skies and ocean waves in their intensity. Despite the ‘cool’ tones, there’s a warmth to these baby blues, with strong hints of sapphire and diamond ringing his irises to define his gaze. Soft and dreamy-looking, especially when smoking while gazing out to sea. Usopp; Brown. Much warmer and brighter than Luffy’s eyes, Usopp’s have all sorts of colours going on, ranging from russet to sand and honey! Sometimes there are hints of green and gold, making for some very striking stares in the crew. Intensely warm and earthy, pleasant to look at. Chopper; Brown. Brighter than Luffy’s but not as bright as Usopp’s. There’s still a hint of Chopper’s reindeer heritage in those eyes, the slightly angular pupils giving his animal nature away despite the human range of colours to match his original eyes. Hints of gold on occasion, marbling around those irises in strange patterns. Robin; Violet. Usually appearing blue in most ranges of light, sometimes there’s a violet tint to this woman’s gaze not seen in many other people. Sharper than Sanji’s eyes with a warm hint of amethyst, both purple and white that ring nicely around her irises. Franky; Silver. After Vegapunk ‘adjusted’ his body, Franky’s natural eye colour changed, from a deep blue-hazel to a near silver. They seem like they’d look cold, but Franky’s personality shines through, leading to his eyes appearing almost like diamonds. Sometimes on sunny days, you can see the faintest hint of blue they used to be. Uncanny to strangers, very intense and bright. Brook; Eyes? What eyes? He lost them long ago, yohohoho! They were probably a lovely shade of russet back when he was alive, looking almost like the warm-coloured wood of mahogany that makes for fine quality instruments. Subtle hints of warmer colours like red-orange.
Worst Generation
Eustass Kid; Orange. Most people would argue he has amber or brown eyes, but there’s a brightness to Kid’s eyes that beats either of those two colours. The blazing ring around his irises drown out the paler outer ring of gold, the redness seeming almost like the blood he spills or the colour of his hair. If dragons walked amongst men, this man would have those very same eyes, relentless and cruel in their savagery. Cold despite their warmth. X Drake: Cornflower Blue. Sanji might have the bluest eyes but Drake comes a close second, his eyes almost as blue as the flowers mentioned. There’s a softness in his gaze, distant and cold yet bright at the same time as though sad, hints of white marking out his irises. Very focused stare, piercing and cool. Trafalgar Law; Stormy Grey. These are the eyes that resemble a cold winter sea, rarely showing the hidden tones of blue and green amidst the darkness. While they usually look cold to others, sometimes when Law is really happy or looking at people he loves, they brighten to a colour that’s almost silver-blue. Intense and wild, with a calculating stare that’s almost leopardish.
Warlords of the Seven Seas/Others
Donquixote Doflamingo; Amber/Gold. They’re ‘brighter’ than his brother’s eyes but somehow there’s a coldness to them as well. Hints of green at times, especially when seen in bright light. Personally I headcanon that Doffy is actually blind in one eye, so only his good eye looks like this. The other is much paler except when using Conqueror’s Haki. No matter which eye you look at however, there’s a viciousness to them should you ever look past the sunglasses. Donquixote Rosinante; Amber. Almost honey-like in their warmth and intensity, they are a very pretty colour, the kind that draws stares from the people walking by - especially when outside in the sunlight without his shades. Hints of spice and orange at times, absolutely soft and dreamy. Sir Crocodile; Amber/Cognac. They are really warm in colour, looking almost orange in their intensity and tend to resemble the sunset over Alabasta. Hints of warm cognac and honey, the kind of eyes you could lose yourself in because they draw you in so much. Personally I like to imagine they were brighter when he was young, seeming almost gold in their intensity. Warm colours but somehow always hungry in their intensity. *Passenger Khare; Mixed*. Having central heterochromia has given her two distinct eyes colours - an amber ring primarily surrounding her irises with a outer ring of blue concealing them. Since consuming her Devil Fruit, the amber has taken on a richer tone, almost resembling fire when transformed. Unsettling gaze even when relaxed, looking both warm and cold at the same time. Cat-like as a dragon.
