A mini comic based on s7ep7 Parental Glideance (as a sort of after ep comic) because I got inspired when I saw a post mentioning that some people use this ep against appledash….and it inspired me to make this bc (…well idk how to really explain it) they're not the same but they're similar, so they tend to understanding each other easily and it's why they work so well together.
Scootaloo means well but it's hard for her to see the gray areas between rainbow and her parents, and rainbow really doesn't know how to explain it (and I think a lot of us with overprotective parents can understand that feeling) and AJ would feel like a good parallel to scootaloo as someone with a similar experience of missing their parents but older.

I think the one I'd rewrite is parental glideance (season 7 episode 7 you know the one where rainbow dash's parents find out she's a wonderbolt ) Rainbow dash shouldn't have to have apologized for blowing up on them , they were super over bearing the entire time (and could have killed a wonderbolt with that firework they shot off during a wonderbolt show perhaps even dash herself)
thats definitely all corrent but I'd also say that psychologically speaking, writers really dont understand what makes an overachieving obssessed with winning kid, because unconditional love and support just isnt it, man. Rainbow is constantly asking people to stroke her ego, and the moment her parents do it is bad? that doesnt feel very realistic at all But yeah you're right, the fact that the parents nearly blew a wonderbolt up, it SHOULDNT be a "kiss and makeup" situation, they were obssessive and overbearing and fucked up. it's crazy that scootaloo sided with them instead of rainbow somehow xP Maybe the episode was written by parents that don't believe they can ever be wrong on their opinions of their kids

ive seen this episode tons of times (because I think it's wild that they made an episode of kids' TV about adults having to reconcile with their overbearing parents) (actually, detour- they did this a lot in later seasons- see Parental Glideance and Common Ground- end detour)
but I've never really realized that both Starlight and Sunburst were raised by single parents. which feels weirdly significant. mlpfim has gotten a lot of flak for being targeted at adults in later seasons, but as someone who was an adult when those seasons came out, I kinda love it. it's on par with that episode where Fluttershy's shitty hippie brother keeps dropping out of college and moving back in with their parents.

now im curious. what are your favorite and least favorite g4 episodes, and in a similar vein, your favorite and least favorite g4 characters
i won’t elaborate on all of them because it’s just like. way too much lol there’s so many episodes in characters but LET’S GO
favorite characters: TWILIEEE, I like all of the mane 6 but she’s my girlie, the royal sisters, trixie, maud, sunset, starlight as a villain (she should’ve stayed a bad guy she’s so FUN! a villain who’s power is her words)
least favorite: neighsay, star swirl (the pillars are all just boring as hell honestly), the wonderbolts (seriously? why do they all suck?), “reformed” starlight, maud’s Sheldon cooper boring boyfriend, daring do (i don’t care for the implications of her character), discord (sort of? in canon, because i adore him conceptually and also occasionally. he’s so fun when he’s not awful
not a strong attachment but yona is also really cute, i just think her design is ridiculously adorable and also love her va’s delivery. very funny
For episodes, there’s quite a few but I’ll try and limit myself per season! There’s are ones that I just find the most comfort and enjoyment out of, I like other episodes but these are what really stand out.
Favorite episodes:
season one: ticket master, look before you sleep, winter wrap up, suited for success (a fantastic episode that really made mlp stand out!), and best night ever
season two: return of harmony & canterlot wedding, lesson zero, hearth’s warming eve, hurricane fluttershy,
season three: sleepless in ponyville, wonderbolt academy, magical mystery cure
season four: pinkie pride, it ain’t easy being breezies (ty for a fluttershy episode that breaks away from the usual plot), maud pie, twilight’s kingdom
season five: the cutie map (yay villain starlight!), castle sweet castle, make new friends but keep discord, canterlot boutique, crusaders of the lost mark
season six: a hearth’s warming tale (minus the shaky introduction, the songs are soooo so good), the times they are a changeling, to where and back again (I know I complain about the treatment of Chryssie and those ugly Changeling designs but it’s a solid shakeup from the status quo and sells me more on Starlight as a character)
season seven: parental glideance, discordant harmony, perfect pear, it isn’t the mane thing about you
season eight: horse play, sounds of silence (i just like the kirin’s designs lol)
season nine: she’s all yak, between dark and dawn, the last problem
Least favorite episodes vary between i don’t like this for personal reasons and I don’t like this for obvious reasons:
season one: bridle gossip, over a barrel,
season two: a friend in deed, putting your hood down, dragon quest,
season three: none i really hate? more neutral or positive feeling tbh
season four: three’s a crowd, trade ya
season five: slice of life (it’s just a bit too much, even for a guilty pleasure episode), party pooped, amending fences, brotherhood social, what about discord,
season six: newbie dash (this one is just plain mean), spice up your life (so bad it’s good. rarity is wildly out of character, the main antagonist is a straw man, and so on. kind of in a disbelief at how much this episode doesn’t work lol), stranger than fanfic and honestly every daring do episode, every little thing she does (not selling me on that redemption pony show!)
season seven: flurry of emotions, hard to say anything and really any fucking sugar belle/Big Mac episode, a royal problem (IT SHOULDVE BEEN TWIIILLGFIITHTHR FOAMING AT THE MOUTH THEY TOOK HER FUCKJNG EOISODE), fame and misfortune (“we’re REAL ponies” says the purple horse written by grown adults), once upon a zeppelin (far too mean of an episode for me), shadow play (for the crime of being boring)
season eight: school daze and school raze, fake it til you make it, the break up break down (hate these types of plots), a matter of principals, a rockhoof and a hard place,
season nine: a trivial pursuit, dragon dropped, a horse shoe-in, the ending of the end

"Parental glideance" makes me so mad.
Rainbow's parents don't respect what she wants, are being really weird ( the diaper ???? ), go wherever they want without asking, do wathever they want, put their daughter and the other wonderbolts in danger, could have gotten her fired and it's somehow Rainbow dash's fault for being mad ?????
Just because Scootaloo has shit parents, doesn't mean Rainbow needs to be ok with something she clearly doesn't like.
Also there is a difference between being proud of your daughter and having an unhealthy relationship with her where you overstep and ignore all her boundaries.

Idk...Yakity-Sax, Parental Glideance, A Rockhoof and A Hard Place, A Matter of Principles, Fame and Misfortune, and The Parent Map are pretty down there. Depends on how many eps you count for the worst I suppose, I was thinking bottom 10-15.
My thoughts are like this: If there was hypothetically a season 10 with 24 bad episodes and the best finale in the series, it'd be pretty easy to say the show would be better without it even though we'd be missing a huge gem (of course Season 8 isn't that bad, but I think the point gets across).
What would you rate MLP out of 10?

I'm not sure if you've already recieved this question, but what is your overall opinion on Parental Glideance? I've always thought that that episode was written as a sort of reason or maybe justification for Rainbow's egotistical behavior.
I feel like it doesn't function as a justification since despite the fact that she loves validation and praise and attention of all kinds the ONLY ONE she doesnt like it's her parents, and tehyre pretty much the only people sucking her dick like she wants it, but oh well I'm pretty sure the episode was written by parents too because despite them being unreasonable and kind of deranged, they are the ones we're meant to side with xD Like, they literally fired fireworks at a wonderbolt rally boi that is not correct

Pone Reviews 33: Parental Glideance Happy New Year's Eve-Eve and welcome to a new Pone Reviews! This week, Everfree Northwest announced two new guests: Sarah Edmondson and Jason Deline, the voices of Windy Whistles and Bow Hothoof! And coincidentally, I wanted to write about Rainbow Dash, so I'm going back into the Season 7 archives for a review of "Parental Glideance!" Let's dive right in! The moral here is an important one. "Don't take your family for granted; they helped make you who you are today." My God, they couldn't stress this enough because it CAN'T be stressed enough. No family is perfect. Look at Rainbow Dash's. Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles's enthusiasm for their daughter's accomplishments is only matched by Pinkie Pie's enthusiasm for everything. But your family's quirks like that should not be the sole reason you push them aside. Your family will always be your biggest fans. It took Dash seven seasons to realize this! When you think about it, we never got any real mention of her family at all until this episode. And it makes sense: she was embarrassed about their pure excitement and so didn't want to tell them everything. So while your family may not be perfect, remember they will always love you. (Well, unless they're stuck-up assholes who abuse and do other assholy things. But that's a lesson for another review.) How about the plot? This was one of my favorite episodes of the season for many reasons. For one, I absolutely adore Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles. You can clearly see where Dash gets her traits from. I know there have been rumors about Rainbow Blaze being Dash's father, but I'm glad they passed on him in favor of Bow Hothoof. Their enthusiasm may be a bit much, but I love how it fits with Rainbow Dash's character. The Wonderbolts also get a bitof character development in this ep. They've come to fully accept Dash as one of their own and they realize when things are outside of Dash's control. Spitfire calls for the team to go to the showers because the Dash parents have unexpectedly arrived and jokes with Dash during the photo shoot. Both Spitfire and Fleetfoot also show amusement at Dash's parents' devotion and pride. And all the Bolts agree to help Dash with the special show for Bow and Windy. Furthermore, I appreciate the continuity throughout this episode. As mentioned, Dash has officially been fully integrated as a Wonderbolt and has accepted her lesson from "Newbie Dash." And Dash's childhood is also touched upon pretty heavily and it continues elaborating on the events after the first Sonic Rainboom in "The Cutie Mark Chronicles." (Not to mention we get some adorable filly cameos!) I love family-oriented episodes. Here's some more things I liked about this episode: *The cropped tail look fits Spitfire. She should wear it more often. *The sandwich in Scootaloo's report amuses me too much. Also, apparently you can get a B from putting a sandwich in a report. *Wings are so dexterous. They can plug ears and wipe tears and salute and everything. *The animation has really come a long way. The scene where Bow discovers Scootaloo after she crashes into the cloud is a great example. *I love Windy's 80s hair! *Curtain snuggelz *TEARS WELLING UP AGAIN *Dr. Hooves and Rose! And here's some things in this episode that don't sit right with me: *Geez Dash parents, I know you're enthusiastic and all, but fireworks? I feel like as Pegasi, they would know not to shoot fireworks as they could seriously injure the flyers. Come on, guys. *How do family names work in this universe? The Pies, Apples, and Shys belong to their respective family lines. I think Twilight's family being the Sparkles was mentioned once or twice. Rarity's family name is still up in the air. But Bow Hothoof and Windy Whistles are never said to be the Dashes or the Rainbows. What's up with that? *Because putting one of your hero's used diapers in a collection isn't weird! *I do find it a bit unsettling that Bow Hothoof has a t-shirt with his daughter's cutie mark. The foals I can believe, but the dad? *Not the Princess Celestia commemorative plates! *Cool report, Scoots, but where's you get some of those pictures? You weren't in most of those episodes. *It's not Bow and Windy's chants that bother me. It's the fact we haven't seen chanting like it from other ponies at earlier Bolts showcases. *The scene where Dash yells at her parents is absolutely heartbreaking. I understand that was the point, but it felt a little more harsh in this episode than other heartbreaking moments before it. To conclude: A Dashie episode with awesome parents and sarcastic Wonderbolts. But what about the Princess Celestia commemorative plates? 4.75 out of 5 rainbows 🌈🌈🌈🌈% That's a wrap on today's Pone Reviews. Come back tomorrow for a Rarity episode that shines so bright you'll have to wear shades! Diamond out!
