see, a few of my childhood otps have ~remained with me lmao. I'll try to go for those I don't think about that much these days, after so long (although I'm sure that if you put them in front of me, the wave of nostalgia that'd hit me would knock me out xDD). this means none of my classic DCU ships, my bangel, my gabrielle x xena... *sniffs*

in alphabetical order:

-Alex and Stevie (Wizards of Waverly Place). They knew what they were doing with this one.

-Claire and Peter (Heroes). I was like 12, I was FEELING them... and then the reveal YOU KNOW THE ONE. I felt so betrayed añsldfjaf. Whatever, they still had that IT factor xDD

The first one (which is self-contained, IIRC it was meant to be a standalone) is available in English, afaik. Now THIS woman knows how to break my heart with her romances... everyone else intending to write romantic subplots in fantasy should learn from her :P

I was a teenager in the 00’s, and I was a huge fan of Heroes.

I remember the “Paire” (Peter/Claire) pairing wasn’t that controversial, and there was absolutely real chemistry because Milo and Hayden dated around that time. I read a lot of fics, and even tried to write my own where it would be revealed that Nathan (Peter’s brother) wasn’t really Claire’s father, so Peter and Claire could be together without the incest. I remember being so conflicted about it.

Nowadays, I ship incest shamelessly. Maybe I’ll revive that Paire fic sometime. 🙏🏽

Ideas for Claire and Peter:

Facing Immortality together: When all their friends and family die out, leaving just them they stop fighting it. Give it a few decades when the last people who know die out and they finally fall into each other's arms without shame.

Soulmate AU: first words or touch. People assume it's a platonic soulmate, but they know otherwise. Forever hungry for things they shouldn't have.

Homecoming canon divergence: Have him rise from the dead and refuse to leave her. A strange attachment forms. He can't leave her even if he wants to. Feels guilt over lusting for a teenage cheerleader, gets Parkmans gift and reads her mind. She's into him. They date. The only one who knows is Peter's mother and for some reason she keeps trying to break them up but won't tell them why. Either they do or don't found out. Dealers choice.

Lazarus effect: When Calire pulls the glass out, she cements Peter to her. It causes them to have a deep unending bond. Painful for both of them yet oh so delicious.
