I know some people might not like the whole “Sabine training to be a Jedi despite not being super force sensitive” thing but I honestly think it’s really cool. It’s expanding what being a Jedi is, it’s showing they’re more than just space wizards, they’re a religion, a people- being a Jedi isn’t about having powers it’s about your training and how you live your life. I think it’s very cool and I like the idea of nonforce sensitive Jedi
#Padawan Sabine is so cool fight me#Yes Jedi are a religion#Jedi as a way of life and a people not just an organization of magical beings#sabine wren#Ahsoka#ahsoka spoilers#ahsoka series#I feel like some people might just not like it because it means the Jedi aren’t “special” anymore….#dipping a toe into discourse wish me luck

i think it's gonna be so funny if eventually somehow, ahsoka 'tired master' tano and sabine 'chaotic padawan' wren meets with din 'no clue' djarin and his little weird green force wielding baby din grogu
like their (somewhat) children are perfect venn diagrams; sabine as a mandalorian jedi padawan, and grogu as former padawan now mandalorian apprentice, and they're both force users (to a degree)
i think din would look at sabine, look at ahsoka, and would have so many questions
din: that is your apprentice?
ahsoka: that's mine
din: you refused to take grogu as your apprentice, but took this chaotic mandalorian instead? really?
ahsoka: it is what it is
*sabine parrying a strike with her vambraces before striking with a lightsaber and her blasters*
din, impressed: yeah okay, i see why now
ahsoka, proud: yep
bonus
ahsoka: what happened to the darksaber?
bo-katan: unfortunately, it was broken mid-duel
sabine: you wielded the darksaber again?
bo-katan: yeah, din won it from moff gideon
sabine: that's cool, for me i had to find and retrieve it from a nightsister witch cave
din: ...you found the darksaber? when?
sabine: when i was a rebel
ahsoka: she wielded it to fight the imperials
din: YOU WIELDED THE DARKSABER?
sabine: yeah, but i gave it to lady kryze after that
din, to bo-katan: THAT'S HOW YOU GOT IT IN THE FIRST PLACE?
bo-katan: yes...?
din: *is now more confused than ever*

People accusing Shin of having no personality/characterization to dunk on her is so annoying... First of all, it's totally fine and normal to like a Star Wars character who hasn't gotten a canon personality yet (i.e. Darth Maul in Phantom Menace) based on their design / story / performance / vibes. It's normal for mysterious characters to exist, and it's normal for people to like those characters. But we do actually already know some cool stuff about Shin; she does have A Characterization and A Story even when the show is holding back with her.
I agree that for now there are many unknowns about her, and fans are having to speculate about her while we wait for the show to fill in the gaps and give us canon answers. (I agree that it would be nice to know more of what the showrunners undoubtably know but have kept hidden so far, like any information about her backstory at all. I am sure they are planning to explore more backstory in the next season, but it's a huge shame just bc Ray Stevenson can no longer be part of that exploration :( )
However, the information we do have about her is totally sufficient to make her cool and interesting. Imo.
"Baylan Skoll's feral, ruthless apprentice, who has a padawan braid, who is dark side-y enough that she seems eager for violence but still asks 'like me?' when Baylan is talking about Ezra being a Jedi." like yeah sorry that's all I need I'm sold! Sorry!
Seeing her make this facial expression before her first duel/encounter ever with another padawan:
Is enough for me! That's already something really interesting to work with! Or the dynamic between her and Baylan in this specific moment
For one moment he just suddenly beams fondness/pride at her and she seems so intense and excited when she bows back, as she goes off to try to murder some people. Then she gets so visibly upset later when Sabine tells Ahsoka to go get the map, thwarting the assignment she was given here of holding off the both of them.
That's an exciting and interesting master-padawan dynamic! I am going to be interested in Baylan Skoll's padawan who has this dynamic with Baylan Skoll as a foil to Ahsoka's relationship with Anakin and u Cannot Stop Me.
Sometimes I like to look at an actor's performance and observe what they seem to be feeling. Sometimes I like to wonder about things that have not yet been revealed to the audience, I find that an interesting experience... I am sorry that u cannot appreciate her Sublime & Unique Vibes....
The way she acts when she fights is part of her characterization! As with everyone in this show, her fighting style is designed and choreographed to be expressive of her character. The way she moves is expressive. She's so aggressive and excited and alive when she fights. That's information about who she is! It's fun information!
Look at this. Look at how she reacts when Baylan tells her to go up against Ahsoka Tano's ex-apprentice.
I admit I cannot tell u with 100% certainty what she is canonically feeling in this moment, but whatever it is she is feeling it SO INTENSELY. The fact that she reacts like this is interesting information about her character, bc every single conceivable explanation for why she is emoting this way is interesting and cool!
She seems kinda excited. She seems to find it significant and momentous. That's fun. We don't know why she feels this way, but it's too late she is already interesting sorry
Sorry for observing the facial expressions that a character makes and learning things about them that way
It's annoying that the show hasn't taken the time to reveal more things about her yet I agree but why are you being mean 2 her... Having mysterious characters is normal Star Wars procedure :/
Like yes we all know this is not Andor, the writing is not always brimming with deft characterization, that's a shame, but that doesn't mean the show hasn't given us a lot of interesting canon building blocks to work with.
tl:dr this is a skill issue and I love her very much
It's honestly kind of funny coming from the silmarillion fandom... some people simply know how to appreciate cool and unique characters based on limited information.
#shin hati#disclaimer i am kinda intoxicated#hopefully i will not regret posting this I'm definitely not trying to actually Start Shit with anyone#i just wanted to be excited about her for a little bit#because like lowkey i am Extremely Passionate about how good she and baylan are#the quality of their vibes is basically unmatched#they feel so Old Republic-y. they feel so tolkien-y. their soundtracks go crazy. i am sooo interested#they are Interesting To Me#ahsoka series#baylan skoll#i just have to assume that nobody who finds shin boring is a lesbian#i feel like if you are a lesbian you are Paying Attention To Shin#and if you pay attention to her she is actually::: very interesting and cool#anyway#this took me like two hours to write what the fuck

controversial opinion (I don't think it is tho) : I think people who hate on Shin are kind of unreasonable to be honest? It seems the core hatred for the character was born when the wolfwren ship got celebrated by the stars of the Ahsoka series, by conflicting ships. The idea she is a "bloodthirsty, violent, psychopath" is... not really founded when you look at every minute she is on screen. She is on the opposite side of a war, so yes she kills people who see as "good", but there are no moments in the series where the villainy she is accused of truly comes out.
The truth is that aside from cool fights here and there, Shin doesn't talk that much and doesn't make that many decisions that are not someone else's (her Master's.) So the very few words she does say and the very few decisions she does make on her own matter all that much more. The fact Filoni made sure that the stab wound made to Sabine is visibly at an angle certainly explained her survival, but it seems people who hate Shin reject the nation of asking themselves "why stab someone non fataly?" Because yeah... why do that? Another few moments is her pursuing her fight with Sabine in her rage, stopped by Baylan. And last big action she commits on her own is questioning her master about the promise he made to Sabine. Breaking the promise achieves their goal, there is little since to questioning it if ahe is as evil and bad as she is framed to be. She doesn't have a clean slate, but people can love Anakin for commotting the jedi equivalent of a school shooting and they can love Maul for killing plenty of beloved characters. Shin's crimes pale in comparison for the level of hate she gets.
My opinion is that she is villainized this hard because certain people think that if Shin is bad and evil and crazy, she won't be shipped with Sabine Wren. And when you hate a character for what people think of the character inside their heads... you kind of lost the plot?
I just think so many people are missing so much of the mysteries and intrigues around Shin specifically. Baylan knew the jedi order, he knows the millenias of history between the sith and the jedi, but Shin? She wields a red lightsaber and has a jedi padawan braid. When she talked about a jedi, she said "just like me." She has no conception of this hard solid line between light and dark, she sees opposing goals, she doesn't hate the jedi, Baylan certainly seems to have no hate for them and he is her master. Clearly he never taught her something that goes against what he fundamentally believes. So we are left with a New Empire hired padawan of a former jedi, who cannot draw the line between the light and the dark fully, who relates to a jedi and value to some degree promises made to them, who now has to confront the other side in a serious way to know where she stands in the full big picture of the fate of the galaxy. COME ONE THIS IS SO COOL.
Why so much hate? All for a ship? Shin to me was the highlight of the Ahsoka series. Many speculate she will be a jedi and I think they may be right, I think Baylan and Ahsoka are different shades of grey, and their padawan are destined to choose to be jedi like those who trained their masters. Or maybe their own separate shade. People summarizing Shin as a villain to vanquish really seem just focused on keeping Sabine away from her, but whether they remain nemesis or become allies, it is a bit ridiculous not to think they are doomed to have plenty more of story between them.
I like Shin! I also like Wolfwren, I think it's a cute ship.
However, I'm not really involved in the fandoms (or the anti-fandoms) for either, so I don't know too much about The Discourse. I can't really speak much on this issue.
The only thing I feel confident speaking on is this: the fact that Shin is scrutinized for actions that are far, far less severe than what- for example- Anakin Skywalker has done probably has less to do with Wolfwren discourse and more to do with plain old sexism.
If Anakin Skywalker was a female character, we'd live in a world where the character would not be being brought back for nostalgia, and her actress's career would've be destroyed.
A female Hayden Christensen never would've gone on to do movies like Jumper, and there would be no female equivalent of The Haydenaissance.
Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox.
That was a really interesting ask, Anon. I'd love to know what people more involved with the Shin/Wolfwren fandom think!

HAVE YOU SEEN THE NEW AHSOKA EPISODE IM SCREAMING
I HAVE and this is honestly the first week i've been actually invested in watching the next ep omg!!! they're doing interesting stuff!!
SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT
THERE'S SO MUCH TO TALK ABOUT OMG. first of all i have to say the late great ray stevenson/ baylan is absolutely the highlight of the show acting & character wise, there's so much depth he's putting into the character somehow like every line he says i'm shoving sabine and ahsoka aside like this is my new fave sorry lesbians. biggest cuntserve of the show
HOWEVER COMMA THE REASON I'M SO INVESTED IS BC IT'S SUCH A GREAT WRITING CHOICE TO HAVE SABINE GIVE INTO HER ATTACHMENTS AND JOIN THE THRAWN STANS TO GET EZRA BACK. YES!!! SHE WOULD!!! she isn't ready to let go of her attachments!!! she won't do as ahsoka says!! fuckin anakincore of her!!! willing to raze the galaxy for the last few parts of her family!! LITERALLY CANNOT WAIT TO SEE WHERE THIS GOES
Also I think the direction was a lot better? I'm shit at clocking how good fight scene direction is but there were a lot of scenes that just felt so much stronger than the prev eps? like when sabine puts the ball in baylan's hand they made you FEEL the weight of that moment with the pacing and camera and the sound design.
ACTUALLY THO THE FIGHT SCENES WERE A LOT BETTER THIS EP partly bc there was just. More to them? i liked how ahsoka dealt w marrok in 2 seconds basically indiana jones shooting the sword guy style bc that made the baylan/ahsoka fight SO MUCH MORE IMPACTFUL bc she's seriously trying and she's flipping and doing all this crazy stuff that makes you go shittttt these guys are super great jedi -- AND ALL WHILE trying to get the map so it wasnt just a "we're fighting bc we're fighting/ to not die" there was a very feasible objective on-hand to make the already great fight even better
and of course i have to talk abt That. i was poggin beyond belief when hayden showed up like LETS GOOOOOOO. and its super cool!!!!! but i do hope they do smthn interesting with this tho (I HAVE FAITH IN THIS SHOW AFTER THIS WEEK SO I'M HOPEFUL) and actually explore ahsoka and the super fuckedup complicated relationship she has w anakin/vader instead of going "ah its so nice to see you again!! im gonna ignore you murdered children and all our friends and tried to kill me etc etc bc people want to see us as friends!" like no i dont want that!! this should be her opportunity to work w the trauma they keep hinting at but not rlly exploring (ie w her taking on forceless sabine as a padawan or how she keeps acting like all that happened was she walked away from anakin and he didnt fall. it could be good writing for trauma) and have ahsoka like... accept the past accept what her master became and MAKE ME INVESTED IN THIS ITERATION OF THE CHARACTER. BC THERE HAS BEEN LIKE NO CHARACTER MOMENTS AND IT'S NOT HELPED BY THE ACTING/ WRITING!!
also did ezra yoinking her outta the world between worlds give her nine lives is she just gonna be able to walk out after dying again
#ahsoka spoilers#thanks for the ask!#IM ACTUALLY HYPED FOR NEXT WEEK FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE IT STARTED#tho it says dave filoni is the director again and the first ep had like. Bad direction/editing loll so im less hyped for that

I saw the thing. Both of the thing. The two things. Those things. Star Wars things.
RIP Luke Skywalker's relevance post-OT, we hardly knew ye.
[spoilers and shit below the cut]
I mean... the first two episodes did their job? They certainly felt like a typical Star Wars, whatever your definition of Star Wars is. It just feels like these people at the top have no fucking idea what to do with the galaxy post-Empire and pre-First Order. Like, there is no obviously Big Bad Fascist group of baddies that our plucky underdog rebel heroes have to fight. The enemy is not clear as bright fucking day. What is the enemy? What are we fighting? Is this why we're plundering the depths of the EU and overwriting EU!Thrawn with Disney!Thrawn? Is this why we're turning the New Republic into an uncaring out-of-touch wannabe Galactic Republic/Empire?
There are many, many places where the Volume is painfully obvious and it is incredibly fucking distracting. Personally, Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy and the POTC trilogy really sold me on the possibilites offered by the marriage of practical FX and CGI. I've never been convinced by the "gimmick" that James Cameron's blue cat people promised, and seeing how increasingly terrible and cheap and fucking greedy the Hollywood studios have become since then has me convinced that we're fucked. I still want to one day get a job in entertainment design but I am increasingly gritting my teeth and side-eyeing the state of things.
There has to be better way to paint non-human skin tones onto actors right. The lack of emoting also really frustrated me. I hope it's just people settling into their roles but I also don't know the sequence in which they shot their scenes. It's just... I felt nothing. I lied. I felt something for Sabine's lothcat. I get Ahsoka at this time being aloof, distant, cold, closed off, but everybody else? I didn't feel it. Maybe from Skoll and Hati, our non-Jedi Norse wolves. Nordic? I don't fucking know.
Someone please explain to me how Sabine is suddenly a Padawan, an ex-Padawan, and now a Padawan again. I never saw Rebels but I know enough canon to know that Padawans are supposed to have some kind of Force sensitivity? Why is Ahsoka deciding who to take in as a Padawan? I thought she left the Jedi Order before she became a Knight? What the fuck is going on? Is she just... making up the rules now since there isn't an Order of people to say, "Hey, maybe don't"? Or is she just picking up where Ezra and Kanan left off? I don't know Rebels and it is midnight; I sure af am not going to decide to read summaries of everyone right now.
Sorry to Luke who either never blipped on Baylan's radar or was just that unimportant to him. Somehow. Sorry to Cal, though I don't even know if he survived to see the Empire's fall.
Among the bipedals who speak Basic, Morgan Elsbeth wins the award for "Most Interesting Character" because Diana knows how to chew up her scenes and has the charisma to keep me interested. I don't recall she was ever revealed to be a Witch in her Mando episode. But now she is? What? Why?
The baseline world development of the Corellian shipyards fucking kills me. I know nothing about Lothal from the show so I can't say shit, but from what I've seen of the city itself, it's so.... clean. CG clean. "We can't let people know we live here" clean. The Volume was screaming into my eyes on Arcana, and I can't believe the fucking planet is called Arcana.
But what is the reason why Sabine put away the parts of herself that are Mandalorian? Is it so that we can see her floundering and struggling and letting her hair grow long while she tells everyone to fuck off? Is it so that we can then see her saw off her long hair a la Mulan (or Kanan, I guess) and become a Mandalorian again? I... I don't have any emotional investment in this. I didn't see Rebels, therefore I don't have any actual emotional investment in this. It's just, cool CG, lightsabers whee, classic Star Wars-ish music to yank at your heartstrings, droids, magic, the Force, Force shit, more lightsabers, pew pew, wheeeeeeeeeeeeeee. And people I only recognize because of the Galaxy of Heroes games, fandom osmosis, and cursory skimming of the Star Wars wiki. If I was a true outsider who knew the bare minimum from previous D+ shows, waht would my investment level be?
Is anyone surprised that Andor keeps showing up in these conversations? I want to rip my hair out and scream at people who hate the discourse because they say people just want more shows exactly like Andor (grimy and dark and grimdark with no Jedi and no Sith and no pew pew space fights and no bzzzzzzzzzzt lightsabers and all politics and politicking and hard decisions made by morally gray characters either trying to survive or trying to see the Rebellion survive) instead of the campy unseriousness with color and bad CG and silliness and pew pew space lasers and shit. I just want more shows made with love and care and a basic understanding of storytelling. There's a difference between telling a story and telling a Star Wars story. The Felonious Showrunners are telling you a Star Wars story full of Star Wars. Did you see the Star Wars? Look at the Star Wars. Listen to the Star Wars. Feel the Star Wars. Yes, I get it, but are you also telling me a story? Is this all really just a buildup to Thrawn returning to the galaxy to take control of the Imperial remnants to make a second Empire or some shit like that? And as always, does it really matter when Thrawn and Ahsoka and Mandalore didn't have ANY impact on the galaxy or the fate of the New Republic and the First Order in the ST?
Fucking hell, looked up serial vs episodic because I forgot the terms and then deleted the entire paragraph because what's the point l o l. Look, the problem for me is that this show relies on working knowledge of Rebels and also The Clone Wars so that we can understand who these people are, what their history is with each other, and where they're coming from when the Norse wolves sprung a witch from her cell. I don't have the time or energy to do any of that, so I don't... I don't care. Who are these people? Explain them to me. Tell me why I should care without assuming I already watched the other shows. All we had of Andor is Cassian Andor, who dies at the end of Rogue 1. Yet somehow we got to see all these new faces emerge and bloom and keep rising or dying for the sake of the nascent Rebellion. We got to know who the fuck they are, what the fuck they do or did, what their relationships are to each other, to the Rebellion, to the Empire, to Cassian. We got to see and hear what they believed in and why they fight or don't fight.
You don't need the 3 episodes of fleshing out Ferrix or any of the characters integral to a story arc. You already have the settings and the people. You already have the history. It would take a lot less work to introduce who they are, what they did or do, how they relate to each other, what they won and lost . It just... it just feels so damn shallow and half-baked and stiff and light like cotton candy.
I think if not for Andor, these first two episodes of Ahsoka would be perfectly acceptable in the Star Wars D+ series pantheon. But Andor is fucking Spiders Georg and fucked over people's expectations of what a good Star Wars show is and can be.
ACTUALLY. WHY NOT TELL THOSE OF US THAT AREN'T FAMILIAR WITH THE DISNEY STAR WARS LORE WHO THE FUCK THRAWN IS, WHAT THE FUCK HE DID, AND WHY WE DON'T WANT HIM BACK. Oh he's the last of the Imperial Grand Admirals - so what. Moff Gideon is beneath the likes of Vader and Tarkin and Thrawn and he did a lot of fucking damage. Andor showed us very clearly what kind of power and damage the ISB can do. So how much more damage can Thrawn do if he did come back? What kind of threat is he? TELL US HOW DANGEROUS HE IS TO THE NEW REPUBLIC. TELL US WHY MORGAN IS TRYING TO BRING HIM BACK. FOR HER OWN AMBITIONS? TO HELP OUT THE OTHER IDIOTS HIDING IN THE DARK, LAUGHING AT GIDEON CLONING HIMSELF IN A PATHETIC GRAB FOR POWER? COME ON. TELL ME SOMETHING.
Anyway, sorry to Luke Skywalker who's stuck on Ossus fucking around with Artoo and a bunch of spider droids, locked out of some greater story about an apathetic former Padawan and her own Mando Padawan looking for a lost Jedi while also trying to stop a blue man from returning to the galaxy. Maybe he never should've returned to Star Wars and stayed a grumpy old Jake who died all alone on some fuckoff island.
Let's see what the next episode will bring! At least it makes great background noise while I do other things.
#rambling thoughts#it's late and i'm tired and deeply meh about things#ahsoka critical#ahsoka show spoilers

Thoughts while watching Ahsoka Ep 5!!
There was a lot of yelling into my hands in just the first 15 minutes
WOWEEE we haven't event started to watch and we're already emotional because HAYDEN IS THERE IN ALL HIS ANAKIN GLORY ON THE HOME PAGE BANNER *sobs in prequel fan*
"Ahsoka confronts her past" we have still not even started and the episode description has me on the edge of my seat for the crumbs I'm desperate for
Yes those crumbs are live-action Rex. Don't worry I have my clown hat ready next to me.
Oh my god was that a clone trooper helmet???
Dear god i need to calm down
ANYWAY
Dave loves his samurai vibes
Jacen and Chopper will continue to make me emotional until I die

NO WHY ARE THEY FIGHTING
WHY IS THIS EVERYTHING I'VE EVER WANTED TOO
I desperately hope Hayden did all that saber work because that choreography was siiiiiick already and we just started
"We have no hope of following" USE THE PERGILL
How fucking funny would it be if Din and Grogu just showed up and Carson was like "This is my buddy I call whenever something weird happens"
Heyo love Jacen saying there's something about the water and then the little force trill plays when Hera turns
Let you weird force sensitive kid tell you about the water
Seriously, I feel like Hera and Din need to start a "force sensitive kid" parent support group. They're the only two members. It's just the two of them talking about the weird shit their kid pulled off
Ok yeah fucking cool with the lightsabers in the waves. You go Jacen!
"HIS FATHER KANAN JARRUS" WE HAVE LIVE ACTION CANON KANAN JARRUS LADIES AND GENTS OH MY GOD

"What if I want to stop fighting" "Then you'll die" ok stab me in the heart Dave that's fine
LOOK AT REX RUNNING INTO THE FOG WITH HIS DUAL BLASTERS
It was a crumb but it was the most scrumptious crumb
Oh fuck the flash to Vader DAM
I'm serious I would fucking die laughing if Din and Grogu showed up like "Hey, we're here to help the search party. Carson beeped us"
Errbody talking about Anakin this episode huh

The Jacen-Chopper friendship is everything I needed without knowing I needed it
LIVE. ACTION. SIEGE. OF. MANDALORE?!?!?!?!?!?!?!? LIVE. ACTION. SIEGE. OF. MANDALORE??????????????????????????
We are 21:32 into this episode and I've had to pause (not exaggerating) 7 times to yell into my hands
LOOK AT HIM RUNNING AROUND IN THE BACKGROUND TAKING DOWN MANDALORIANS
HE LOOKS SO GOOD
We got past the clone wars flashback and I made peace with myself we wouldn't hear him speak but oh my fucking god what if he speaks now
Yes we're still paused, yes this episode will probably take twice as long for me to get through purely because of Rex sightings
OH MY GOD HE SPOKE
OH MY GOD IT'S TEM REX IT'S TEM REX
Why am I crying why does Star Wars do this to me
Hearing Temeura Morrison refer to Ahsoka as Commander in Rex's armor makes me want to cheer and cry at the same time
Awwww Hayden's Canadian came out when he said "about"
NOT BABY SNIPS FIGHTING VADER NO NO NO
Ok these fucking flash cuts to Vader's suit are fucking sick
OK DISTORTED HAYDEN AND VADER VOICE
YO CAN WE TALK ABOUT HER BRINGING THE SABER UP AND THE LIGHT REFELCTING IN HER EYES TO MAKE IT LOOK LIKE SHE TURNED SITH FOR A HOT SECOND HOLY SHIT
Bye Hayden I love you
Ok so this is the Star Wars A Christmas Story, you can't tell me otherwise
Mysterious goop rising up? That's a nope from me dawg
WE'RE ONLY HALFWAY THROUGH THE EPISODE???
Seriously holy fucking shit everyone say "Thank you, Dave" holy shit holy shit this is is Mona Lisa, this is his Last Supper, this is his Pieta, he loves these characters and Star Wars so much oh my god
WAH so jarring to see her without her little headpiece thing
It's like when Echo showed up in TBB without his Kama I was like "SIR YOU ARE NAKED" I'm having the same feeling with her
AHSOKA TAKE ON JACEN AS A PADAWAN TAKE ON JACEN AS A PADAWAN
"We were hoping you could explain what happened" well, ya see, we were stubborn per usual
She's so Gandalf the White right now
OH MY GOD TAKE HIM AS YOUR PADAWAN DAM IT
Yas force visions for the win
(WHERE IS QUINLAN DAVE)
Anyway
Like literally the Gandalf imagery is so obvious
USE THE PURGILL
My babygirl needs so much therapy I love her
USE. THE. PURGILL.
I swear if I was in Star Wars they'd all have their answers in 1/4 of the time
Ahsoka is so dramatic I love her freaking lineage so much they love overdramatic entrances my god
Oh hello Gandalf
She could honestly get me to do anything with her little side smile I love her so much
What a fucking love letter to Star Wars this show is
Carson if the friend of all friends. "Hey make sure the fleet doesn't get near us" "yeah sure I can do that" stalls said fleet via ridiculous chatter
Hera tells Jacen about Ezra 😭😭😭😭
Cannot wait to see all the cosplay of this fit of Ahsoka's, this grey and white is siiiiiiick
Would fly to wherever Dave Filoni is to shake his hand if it ended with the purgill just taking a chomp and thus killing them. Would be so freaking funny
Oh hello shot tribute to inside the asteroid worm in ESB
"No idea" I. FREAKING. LOVE. HER. THIS. IS. SNIPS. I'M. DYING.
Look at her learning her little Jedi lessons
"Jacen's too young to fly through galaxies" fucking mom of the year
THIS IS AN UTTERLY STUNNING SHOT?????

So I told my sister and a couple other people I would post this, and here it is! Just some ponderings about Kanan in the Hera is a Jedi au that turned themselves into a ficlet. Set mid-season one of SWR, and rated G!
Taglist: @firefoxtessa @day-to-day-thots @auroramagpie @laughingphoenixleader @accidental-spice @heckin-music-dork @opalknight @cassie-fanfics and I'm also gonna tag @xxxcertifiednerdxxx, solely because you're accidentally the reason I wrote this. Feel free to ignore the tag, though! (also if anyone wants to be added or removed from the taglist, DM me!)
“What’s Kanan’s job around here, anyways?”
Hera barely glanced up at Ezra’s question as she removed yet another part from her lightsaber, which lay in pieces in front of her on the worktable in her room. “What do you mean?”
Frowning, Ezra said, “Everyone’s got a role, you know? Zeb is the muscle and Chopper’s the homicidal hacker droid, and Sabine’s the explosives expert, and you’re the Jedi and the pilot and the boss all at once. You’re all really talented, you know?”
A smile hovered at the edge of Hera’s mouth as she picked up a miniscule tool and used it to unscrew another part. “Flattering as always, Padawan. Your point being?”
“Kanan doesn’t really have a role,” Ezra said, watching her work. “Hey— couldn’t you use the Force for that?”
“I could,” Hera agreed, removing the part. “But I like to do it this way.” Setting aside her tool, she finally met Ezra’s eyes. “Why does it matter what Kanan’s role is? He’s here to help us fight, and that’s what’s important.”
“Yeah, but—”
“Someone say my name?”
Ezra and Hera glanced up as Kanan stuck his head through the open door, lifting a curious brow. “Ezra wants to know your role in this crew,” Hera said dryly. “Any thoughts?”
“Oh, obviously,” Kanan said. “Professional chef, and eye candy.” He shot a wink at Hera, who rolled her eyes, before turning to Ezra. “But in all seriousness— I’m whatever we need at the moment. That’s where I do my best work. Speaking of best work, how do enchiladas sound for dinner? I found some of those peppers you and Zeb love so much at the market, Captain Hera.”
“That sounds amazing, love,” Hera said, shooting him a smile as he slipped back out and down the hall. After a moment, she directed her gaze back to Ezra. “Does that answer your question?”
“...kind of?”
Chuckling, Hera said, “Well, if you’re still wondering, why not ask the rest of the crew? They might have some good insight. And you could always try meditating on it.”
“I think I’ll talk to the others,” Ezra said hastily, getting to his feet. Hera looked amused, but gave him a nod before returning to her lightsaber maintenance with laser-like focus.
The first crew member he encountered was Chopper, and Ezra knew better than to bother with him. Not that he’d care, anyways, the droid was crazy. Instead, he headed for the lounge, where he found Zeb cleaning his bo-rifle.
The Lasat directed a frown at him— but it wasn’t his real, “why are you near me do you want to suffer” scowl, just his all purpose “I’m pretending to be grumpy cause it makes me look cool” frown. “Thought you were training with Hera.”
“I was,” Ezra said, dropping onto a crate nearby. “But then I asked her a question—”
“You? Ask a question? Color me real surprised.”
“Ha, ha,” Ezra said, scowling at him. “Listen. I asked her what Kanan’s role was on the ship.”
“Really?” Zeb paused in his cleaning and glanced up, interest flashing through his eyes. “What did she say?”
“Why? Wait— do you not know either?”
“‘Course I know. Just curious about what she said.”
“Sure. Well, she said that it wasn’t important, then told me to ask everyone else. Kanan says he’s whatever he needs to be. Well, first he flirted with Hera, then he said that.”
Snorting, Zeb said, “Sounds about right.”
“So what do you think? What’s Kanan’s role?”
The Lasat shrugged, setting aside a cleaning rag. “Dunno. He’s just Kanan.” He glanced up in time to see Ezra’s scowl, and sighed. “Look, kid. You’re taking this too seriously. It’s not really about roles, anyways. It’s about why we’re here.”
“What do you mean?”
Finally, Zeb set down his bo-rifle. “You know, why we’re fighting the Empire.” He paused, his expression turning uncharacteristically somber. “You know why I’m doing it. And Hera’s pretty obvious, more than just the Jedi stuff.”
“She’s passionate about making stuff right,” Ezra guessed. “Well, what about Sabine?”
“What about me?”
Ezra and Zeb both looked up to see Sabine, carrying a handful of paint-covered rags and looked satisfied with herself. “Kid wants to know what Kanan’s role is, why he’s here,” Zeb said, nodding at Ezra. “Then he asked about you.”
“Seriously?” Sabine rolled her eyes. “Tell me you two aren’t this clueless. He’s here for Hera, obviously.”
“Well, I know that,” Ezra said, feeling himself flush slightly as Sabine ducked into the kitchen and returned without the rags. “But, like, does he have another reason? And what’s his job, you know? He’s kinda just some guy, not a Jedi or pilot like Hera, and not a master warrior like Zeb, or an explosive expert like you.”
“True,” Sabine acknowledged. “But not everyone in the Rebellion has to be as amazingly talented as we are. Most of us have a personal problem with the Empire. Could be Kanan does, too. But why does it matter?”
“I… guess it doesn’t,” Ezra said slowly. “It just didn’t make any sense to me that he’s the odd one out, I guess.”
Sabine shook her head impatiently. “You’re putting too much stock in the “everyone needs to be crazy skills” thing, kid. Look, Kanan’s a great shot, and a decent co pilot.”
“Amazing cook, too,” Zeb offered, and Sabine nodded.
“True. But what’s most important is that he has our backs. He looks out for us, in big ways and little ones. He knows what we need and he makes sure we can do our jobs well. We couldn’t do this without him. Got it?”
“I… I do, actually,” Ezra said. “Thanks.”
Kanan announced dinner was ready around an hour later, and the crew gathered in the lounge to eat. Hera took her usual seat, and Ezra dropped onto a crate nearby. “Did you figure out the answer to your question, Padawan?” she asked him, a hint of amusement in her eyes.
Setting down his fork, Ezra said, “I did, actually.” He paused, feeling the crew’s eyes on him, but Hera nodded for him to go on. “Your role isn’t an obvious one like Zeb or Hera,” he told Kanan, who was sitting opposite them, his plate balanced on one knee. “You’re here to watch our backs and make sure we’re okay, and take care of us. You’re… kind of the glue that holds us all together. Without you, we wouldn’t have made it this far.” He looked at Hera. “Am I right?”
His master was smiling, first at Ezra, and then at Kanan, who seemed surprised. “You’re absolutely right,” she told him. “Well done, Ezra.”
“Not bad, kid,” Zeb said.
Shrugging, Ezra said, “Hey, Kanan said it first— he’s whatever we need him to be. I think that counts, right?”
Kanan let out a chuckle, shaking his head. “Can’t argue there, I guess.” Shooting a wink at Hera, he added, “I still think I count as eye candy, though.”
“Of course you do, dear,” Hera said, rolling her eyes.

I have yet to actually see a single episode of Rebels. So aside from gifs I've seen of certain scenes (mostly Ahsoka running into Anakin as Vader and Maul's final fight with Obi-Wan), I have little to no knowledge of what actually happens in it.
Before I start watching it, however, I want to make a list of the things I think I know and then do a little compare and contrast sort of thing once I've completed it. No need to correct me if I'm wrong on anything and I will ask for no spoilers (for the time being), but we'll see how well that goes.
Anyway here's what I think happens in Rebels based on the gifs, fan art and random other fandom related shit I've absorbed through osmosis:
The main character is Ezra Bridger and apparently he gets a boyfriend near the end of the series??? Good for him.
Kanan is Caleb Dume, Depa's padawan. He's the fan favorite.
Kanan gets married to a Twi'lek Rebel fighter named Hera. I'm very happy for them both.
There's a Lasatt voiced by Joe DiMaggio. I think. I've heard there are a lot of fart jokes related to him. I'm really hoping there isn't.
Ezra goes Sith for a period. Or like flirts with the Dark Side? Idk something emo is going on with him.
Maul kidnaps Ezra and tries to make him his apprentice. I assume this is the part where Ezra goes emo boy mode.
Sabine becomes Manda'lor. And then gives the Darksaber to Bo-Katan. Who then isn't the Manda'lor because she didn't win it via mortal combat? Idk, man, Favroni are on one with this bullshit.
Tarre Vizsla gets introduced in Rebels and he is the only valid Vizsla (besides Paz) to ever exist. I refuse to stop stanning our canon Mandalorian Jedi. Don't ever change, Tarre!
I don't actually know who Sabine is, but her design is very reminiscent of mid 2000s "cool girl" character aesthetics and it feels sorta aged to me. Regardless of this, I'm assuming she's a great character as I haven't really seen anyone shitting on her.
Ezra and Sabine are in a relationship? Were in a relationship? No fucking clue.
I think Obi-Wan mercy kills Maul in front of Ezra????? If that's the case, Ezra would technically be among the few people to know that Obi-Wan's alive and where he's hiding. I'm going to assume he's just keeping his mouth shut?
I've heard that Sabine is a lesbian??? I have no fucking clue what she and Ezra got going on then, but in this house we stan all queer identities so whatevs.
Thrawn makes an appearance. I somehow knew about Thrawn being in Rebels, but literally nothing else. Which is weird 'cause I remember reading the books as a kid but I've retained no memory of them. Anyway, looking forward to seeing his blue ass.
I think Ahsoka gets her badass codename "Fulcrum" from the Rebels show. I will be very happy if this is true.
Hondo Ohnaka tries to sell one of the main crew. Idk who. And I don't even know if this is even true. But I know this little rat man and I would be shocked if he didn't attempt to do something.
Kanan is part werewolf. I have no fucking clue what the lore explanation for this is. I just keep seeing shit that says he's a werewolf and I refuse to budge on this until I figure out otherwise.

Ahsoka Show Episode 2 - Spoilers/Thoughts
Okay, now for episode 2 thoughts. (I've posted my reaction to *that* moment at the end of episode 1, and it's resulting consequences in this episode, in another post).
SPOILERS BELOW THE CUT! DO NOT SCROLL IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED THE EPISODE YET! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
Okay, I ranted about my dislike for Sabine's injury here. Moving on.
Literal chaos child. Sabine is the natural successor of the disaster lineage force sensitivity or not lolol. "I uh, I unlocked the map. And then lost it. And then lost all my backups. But everything's fine I swear!" Anakin would be proud.
I gotta say it, Baylon's ship makes me think of the Marauder just a bit.
I am loving these nightsister temples. So cool. Very Celtic/stone circle/mapping the planets and stars vibes.
Ahsoka trying to trace the fight between Shin and Sabine almost felt like she had some Psychometry skills ala Quinlan Voss going on??
AHSOKA PET THE DANG LOTHCAT. YOU MUST PAY TRIBUTE BEFORE ENTERING THE ABODE.
Love that she's so calm feeling that droid coming down behind her before taking it out.
Huyang vs Hera as Sabine almost blows them all to pieces...gotta love it. I need to see Tech and Huyang hanging out together. They would either be besties or drive each other insane.
I really love the practical effects of all the droid and machine builds in this show. It feels even more detailed and realistic than props in Mando.
Hera just still doesn't quite feel like Hera to me :/ And it's not MEW's fault at all. It feels like costuming and dialogue choices. Love her talk with Sabine though. I'm fascinated to know what viewers who have never seen Rebels are thinking of these scenes, bc they have no idea the backstory behind these two and the mother/daughter, older sister/younger sister nature of their relationship.
The CGI here is absolutely gorgeous when Morgan opens the star map. I also love how it is much more extensive and detailed than what Sabine was able to get. And the hint of green nightsister magic!
It will be really interesting to see if she's referring to the Chiss homeworld, the Yuuzhan Vong, or something else by "other galaxy".
I really want to see more of Baylon and Shin's history. She is attached to his every word and obeys his commands very seriously. How did he come to take her on as his padawan? When did he find her? What made him abandon the Jedi order (did he have doubts before the Clone Wars? Or just found a way to survive after?) So many questionssss.
Ahsoka and Hera, on the detective trail. Love it. When this series was announced, long before it was apparent that it would be Rebels season 5, I had hoped it would be Ahsoka hopping around the galaxy solving mysteries. This is fun to see.
Guys. I am trying SO HARD to not fall down the "imperial remnants and new republic politics as the galaxy tries to rebuild" rabbit hole that my brain eagerly wants to fall down whenever they start bringing up these dynamics. I was almost losing my mind during the Dr. Pershing episode in Mando season 3, and this is whetting my appetite again. Idk if I will someday need to write fanfiction about this or copious amounts of tumblr posts, but you have been warned. Star Wars and politics and the navigation of the collapse of empire and the redistribution of status and wealth and goods and the devious ways that can all quickly start to fall apart...okay I'll stop myself. When we get to the Mon Mothma episode...heaven help me.
Again, the subtle facial expressions in this show are so good. Not all of the dialogue is escaping cheesiness, but the facial expressions are conveying a wealth of emotions that is backing and grounding each line of dialogue.
This scene. THIS SCENE. Okay, I promised I would talk about Sabine's Jedi training and supposed Force sensitivity that we all have been wondering about since the trailers. I was not thrilled about the idea of Sabine being retconned to be force-sensitive. There's no hint of it in Rebels, and it would feel like a shocking contrast to her lineage as a Mandalorian if it wasn't handled properly. That said, I went into it with a relatively open mind, and have not been overly bothered (more just confused and wanting the backstory) on her and Ahsoka all of a sudden having this master/apprentice relationship that has taken place off screen and that obviously did not go well. Sabine has trained with lightsabers before (the Darksaber and Ezra's lightsaber), and it did make sense to me that she could want to know how to use it more effectively and want to be closer to the practices of what made Ezra who he is in his absence. Why Ahsoka would have agreed to train her...that I am unclear on. I wonder if her failure in that also contributed to her telling Din that she couldn't train Grogu. Anyway, all of this has been a "what the heck are you up to Dave," but I haven't hated it.
All that said, I didn't really want Sabine to be Force sensitive bc I also hate when Star Wars, or Star Wars fans, try to make everyone have latent force abilities in ways that feel like a cop out, like it's the only explanation for a character being cool, or having value, or tying into the plot (I am not trying to call out anyone in particular here, just the concept). Star Wars is not only about Jedi, and while it is almost always about the Force, that doesn't always happen in the highly specialized, exclusive ways we see from force users like the Jedi and the Sith. So, I was hoping, let's see Sabine trying to tap into the fact that the Force is inside everyone, but not everyone can access it to the same capability. Let's see her trying to gain certain skills and practice a way of existing in the world that goes beyond some fancy lightsaber moves and meditation rituals. Let's see a Mandalorian who already has a distinct and powerful way of fighting and philosophy in the world, attempt to mold it with another, almost opposite, approach. And I think that's what we are getting! (maybe this should have been it's own post, oops).
Huyang's no nonsense talk to Sabine is exactly what she needs to hear. For all his sass and directness, he doesn't lack compassion in how he chooses his words with her. And yet he also isn't afraid to eviscerate her (lack of) Force abilities with the most Jedi worthy burn I've ever heard "your skills would fall short of them all." He's been around for 2500 years. I don't think Sabine is force sensitive ya'll. At least not in a conventional way. And yet, Huyang, who has been the keeper of lightsabers and Jedi youngling training for generations, is not at all discouraging her from applying herself to try. His tone is exceedingly gentle with the words "the only time you are wasting, is your own." Is it possible to marry a droid? Pretty sure he's husband material lol.
Also his hands look like medieval gauntlets. So cool. They outdid themselves on the practical effects here.
Star Wars has Solid State Drives?? (Sorry the SSD reference was kind of funny).
Alright, Ahsoka against a droid and a former Inquisitor. Easy peasy.
Hera and Chopper (who looks FANTASTIC btw, there is no distinction between Choppper animation and Chopper live action LOL), in the Phantom and their dialogue back and forth was perfection.
That lil force push and lil backflip midair and lil shoulder turn to miss the lightsaber from behind 👀 please more force usage from Ahsoka! In her own show!
Very interested to learn more about Marrok too. Their stunt actor is really good.
Girlie is pulling out the Mando armor. We're getting serious now.
"It's not loyalty. It's greed."
I liked Sabine's part in this recreation of the end of Rebels, but I didn't really love the retcon on Ahsoka's. Where is her staff? Why is her cloak a different color? Where is Morai? It just fell kind of flat for me. Like the live action hasn't earned the emotional gravitas and hope that this scene held in Rebels. Again Dave, really fascinated to see where you're going with all this.
Finally, Ahsoka's ship is cool. I would travel around the galaxy with her for sure. And, the unique way that holograms show up on Morgan's ship is very, very cool. Can't wait to see what next week holds!

Ahsoka trailer is so epic!
It's so cool and amazing and they fully remade the final scene in rebels in live action and it's amazing!
Love the bit about Sabine's hair cut, honestly her hair is always amazing.
The bad guys are super cool and that one witch lady, I hope we get lots of nightsister/lightsister stuff cause space witches fuck yeah!
I wanna see Ahsoka do some space magic tbh, and the lightsaber droid guy is here too so the padawans could show up, give me live action Gungi you cowards!
Also could that one inquisitor maybe be Barriss? If so, no, I want Ahsoka to find Barriss just chilling living her best life as a healer in a small village, completely reformed and going to therapy and just thriving, and then she drags Ahsoka off to therapy too cause she needs it, we all know she needs it, actually, Sabine and Hera need it too.
I'm also gonna insert Kaeden into the story as Ahsoka's wife/team medic, I don't care what tales of the jedi said, the only part of it I accept about Ahsoka is the first episode cause it's so Ahsoka to tame a giant murder kitty by being a cute lil baby.
Ahsoka novel is superior fucking fight me! You will lose.
I also don't want it to go Sabine x Ezra, I kinda want them to find him also chilling with his purgil buddies and his boyfriend, I just think Sabine and Ezra work better as space siblings, cause then it's more angsty cause Sabine is trying to find her lil bro and bring him back home after she feels like she failed him.
This show is gonna be so epic I'm so excited!
I am not apologizing for the person I will become on August 23rd.

Ahsoka ended and all I can say is that I feel empty and unsatisfied.
I expected something better, you know? I guess that's on me for having expectations about a Star Wars show.
I liked the early Hera scenes with Chopper. I liked the visuals, I liked Thrawn and I adored Ezra but the rest? Nope, big no no.
Ahsoka is terrible here. Where is her personality? Her fire? All she does is pretend to be a wise sage. First she says that they have to stop Thrawn and that includes destroying the map and at the end of the show praises Sabine for her selfish, terrible choice and I'm like what???
What the hell happened with you, Ahsoka???!
Don't let me start about ignoring the fact that Anakin was Darth Vader and did terrible things. Nope, he's a good master now. He's always supported Ahsoka.
Especially when he tried to KILL her in Rebels, remember that? Or when he KILLED the Jedi and younglings in Jedi Temple? Yep, perfect master material.
And seriously it's pissing me off because Anakin had his dark moments in Clone Wars too and suddenly they are irrelevant. Suddenly Anakin is good and when Ahsoka tries to even imply how he terrorized the Galaxy for years, he's like "Is that what this is about?"
And to be fair, I don't blame Anakin here. If they want to make him an unlikeable asshole who doesn't try to make amends with his padawan, cool.
But why the narrative suggests in every way that Anakin was good? Or, for that matter, that attachment is good?!
Guess what, you can love someone and also not be obsessed with that person. You can love and not let that love consume you and twist you into someone terrible and selfish.
I wish we got a scene in which Ezra learns what Sabine did to get to him. I want to see him disappointed in Sabine and hurt that with her one selfish decision she undermined his sacrifice.
Also, come on, that fight with zombies was terrible.
Sabine having suddenly the force is so stupid and unnecessary that I can't even comprehend it. Seriously, I just ignore it because what the fuck.
You can diss Kenobi show however much you want but at least it's portrayal of Obi-Wan was good and Anakin was the monster he was. Oh, and Reva actually had a story unlike Shin who was just there I guess.
I miss Clone Wars Ahsoka. I also miss Rex and the rest of clones but with the direction this whole shitshow is going maybe it's better if I don't see them again.

Overall I'm pleased with Ahsoka
Could things have been better? Surely.
But Overall, it was entertaining! The castings were great! Ahsoka and Anakin moments were making me lose my mind! Thrawn is so freaking cool in every scene. Ezra grew up and maintained his dramatic boyish charms. Sabine fights with every weapon in her arsenal, in hand, at all times, and I love her for it. Hera and Chopper are still hitting it up with the Republic in their own Rebel Brand way.
I'm just happy to see these characters again 🥰
(Honestly I'll watch anything that has Ahsoka or Ezra in it. The two Rockstar padawans of their respective shows. They are very dear to me.)

MY THOUGHTS ON AHSOKA- Part 3 "Time to Fly"
My first thought: it was much better than the first 2. Altho, I wish it had been a tad longer, even if the length is somewhat consistent with the Mandoverse shows.
As a Rebels fan, I feel fed. I finally got to see 1 character out of the 4 I want to see, so there's hope that soon I'll see the rest. Right, Filoni? RIGHT?!!
Hopes aside, let's get to the details of this episode.
I loved Sabine's training session, both with Huyang and Ahsoka. It reminded me a lot of The Trials of the Darksaber. The constant callbacks are impossible not to have them. And Huyang, please!! 🤣
Also, I loved the music during that scene (and throughout the whole episode). Well, is Kevin Kiner, what else could I have expected but greatness?
Honestly, I knew that the meeting with the senators and Mon Mothma was going to go as exactly as it went. I knew Hamato Xiono was going to be that jerk, and the rest of the senators wouldn't be any better. What I did love was Mon asking for Jacen (!!! which gave me hope to see him soon) and joking about the chaos the kid and Chopper surely were causing. My headcanon is that Mon is just remembering their shenanigans in Yavin 4 or Hoth or whatever else Hera has been stationed since then.
And I'm glad that they pointed out that even Hera believed Ezra is dead, she still looked for him. As I said in my review last week, I think Hera made herself believe that, otherwise she couldn't have lived her life, and raise Jacen and fight in the rebellion and now help with the new republic. The uncertainty of someone's disappearance is much harder to bear than their death.
Oh my gosh! The scream I let out when Jacen appeared!! 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺😭😭😭😭😭 He's so precious!!! With his green hair and saying Aunt Sabine (that means he calls Uncles Zeb and Alex/Sasha/Kallus, right?) and wanting to be a jedi just like his dad was (Would have been too much to name Kanan, just once??!!) Anyway... we got live-action Jacen!!!!!!
I love the conversation about the force between Ahsoka and Sabine. It put to rest some of my doubts about the whole Sabine being Ahsoka's padawan thing. How they explained it is pretty much how I think the Force works, so it felt good to have it explicitly confirmed in canon. And like it has been said, just talent isn't enough, just like in real life. Some people have a natural talent for an art or anything really, and if they cultivate it, then they'll excel at it. But that doesn't mean that other people less talented cannot reach the same level of excellence; they just need to work harder to get there.
And the opposite is also true. If a talented person doesn't work on their talent, it can become stagnant or even lose the ability altogether. With the Jedi, we've seen it with many Order 66 survivors. Obi-Wan, Kanan, Cere, Cal, Grogu, etc., they cut themselves from the Force either on purpose or as a trauma response, and all had to work to gain the control of his powers back.
Also, I think seeing the Force this way, it recognizes the different religions and presentation of the Force throughout the galaxy. People like Sabine or Chirrut Imwe or even Han Solo, or entire species like the Lasat or Chiss that for whatever reason the Force works different for them.
About the comment about the standards that Jedi had to accept younglings in the Order, I mean, I get it. The jedi couldn't accept everyone. They had to focus on those who had better chances to keep up with the training. Not just that, those were also at a greater risk to misuse the Force if they managed to gain some control over it on their own or under bad influences.
Huyang mentioning the disaster lineage was the best!!
The dog fight was great. Marrok finally spoke, and as expected, the baddies in fighting couldn't be left out. And I love that when Ahsoka and Sabine started to work together is when they shot down the fighters. And Ahsoka going outside in a space suit felt taken out of an episode of TCW. Really cool!
PURRGIL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We have Purrgil!!!!!!!!!!!! I love those space whales/squids things so much. My only complaint is that they should've destroyed at least one of the fighters. I mean, aren't the Purrgils famous for destroying ships that come in contact with? I'm just saying!
Like I said in the beginning, I love this episode, and it has my hyped for what will come next! 👉👈 Is it Tuesday yet? 🥺

Ahsoka episodes 3 & 4 review - spoilers - spoilers - spoilers
Episode 3 was a fabulous set up to episode 4 - which was a BANGER!
For me the strongest narrative drive of this show so far has been Sabine and Ahsoka's incredibly fluid relationship, the way it ebbs and flows when they are as friends, or as master and padawan, and as team mates, with Ezra's ghost hovering painfully over them.
I thought it was a shame that Sabine's training with Ahsoka at the beginning of episode 3 had such short screen time as opposed to the protracted battle that ensued. Yes, it was cool watching Ahsoka defy the laws of space physics and deflect enemy fire with her lightsabers while out on the wings of her ship, and it was great seeing the space whales, but I honestly could have just watched Sabine try and force move the cup and see how she deals with what it all means.
Episode 4 was however worth the payoff. Narrative strands came together and got elevated into more intriguing and potent ones that I cannot wait to see play out in the remaining episodes. We know Thrawn will appear soon - and I am glad all that convoluted set up with the map is done with - so I am hoping the pace will now accelerate.
I know the most memorable moment that has lit up social media is Ahsoka's meeting with Anakin towards the end, and I am not going to lie that the impact was very emotional, but personally, watching Sabine in full Mandalorian armour and embodying her Mandalorian roots fighting alongside Ahsoka's Jedi master status, was sublime.
As a bonus - it was great seeing another link to The Mandalorian in the form of Carson Teva.
Another bonus - Baylan and Shin along with Morgan Elspeth continue to make a tremendous team of villains.
10/10.

Ok i watched episodes 1 and 2. I'm sort of torn about whether i liked them or not? the only tv live action series i've watched is Obi wan and i really loved that one, so maybe it's me just getting used to live action stuff again? and also the animation turned into live action factor is probably also a thing. And the characters looking/soundly different to their animated versions.
It felt like Star Wars in some ways and not like Star Wars in other ways. I'm not sold on Sabine being force sensitive/a Padawan, especially Ahsoka's Padawan. Maybe it'll make more sense later on but for now i just find it weird. I mean one of the reasons i liked Sabine so much was that she wasn't force sensitive and didn't need to swing a lightsaber around to be cool. And Ahsoka being a ''Jedi Knight'' now?? when did that happen??? i mean in Rebels she said she WASN'T a Jedi anymore, is all that just null now?? and for Sabine to her Padawan, i don't know. I mean i guess i'm glad it's not some random but it just doesn't sit right with me (for now maybe?).
I'm also not sold on these bad guy dark side users. You can already tell that the girl will change sides, maybe the old man too. they seem really weak to me. Unless they commit some atrocities on screen i'm not buying it.
The whole premise of the map and figuring it out was giving me sequel trilogy flashbacks which i don't like. We don't need anymore characters running away and leaving maps behind. It's just dumb.
Ahsoka and everyone else talks really slowly and it's kind of annoying. A lot of pausing and slow movement, even the lightsaber fights were slow (and boring) too.
Besides that, i really like Sabine's room, all the colors and paint and drawings, just like in Rebels. And the little Lothcat's are SO cute!!! the practical effects for them are so good!!
Sabine cutting her hair like Kanan was cool. I'm not really a shipper for them but the way Sabine keeps dreaming/talking about Ezra, touching the painting, i think there still might be something there? who knows
I'm just kinda unsure what i think about it, kinda underwhelmed to be honest. But hopefully it will really pick up in the next episodes. The show will be awesome if/when we get Anakin and maybe Obi wan content, i want to see them again!!
so yeah like a 5/10 so far
