i was thinking about fionna and cake’s version of jermaine, and drew her this morning!! i posted her to r/adventuretime and she didn’t do too bad there, so i started writing stuff for fionna and cake world lol more headcanons below the cut :)

i originally posted her under the name “jasmeen” but i think corrine would be better suited for the sibling alliteration with cake :) huge thanks to some of the users in the reddit comments who helped brainstorm some of this!! lemme know what u think lol

fionna was adopted at birth by a (human) couple, cynthia and marlowe. cynthia works in the city’s forensics department and they both own a funeral home/cemetery. they have big hearts, and have a hard time charging folks for caskets and burials. they owned two cats, corrine and cake, and fionna took cake with her when she moved out, leaving corrine at her (now elderly and retired) parents place. if corrine could walk and talk like cake in this world, she’d be running the funeral home and going after people for the money they owe her elderly parents. it’s shitty work and they aren’t hurting for money, but things in this life aren’t free, right? her true passion is sculpture, and eventually she learns to let the debts go and focus on her work.

fionna’s biological parents, milton campbell and mallory mertins, had a nice relationship in the beginning. but when mallory gave birth to fionna, she disappeared from the city with her. having always struggled with her mental health, mallory’s post-partum depression became post-partum psychosis and she left fionna at a safe surrender site in her daze. her psychosis spiraled and she was sent to prison before escaping into homelessness. milton died not long after their disappearance, after serving as a nurse for his entire career and saving thousands of lives. he even had a newly built hospital named after him after his death.

gary prince was on his own at a very early age, leaving the abusive home of his aunt georgia, uncle larry, and cousin chantal. georgia goes on and on about all the wonderful things she was meant to accomplish if she didn’t have to take in gary and his sister, and chantal goes along with it all. larry at least is sympathetic and sends money to them when he can. as a result, most of the money gary makes goes towards taking care of his special needs sister, nadine.

marshall lee was extremely close with his father, elijah, before he died. elijah wanted nothing to do with hana’s money or work, and raised their son in a small home in the forest. marshall grew up knowing how to rough it in the outdoors, before his mother took him away from that life and into a stuffy, proper one. she sold the house he grew up in and he never forgave her.

flora never knew where she came from. her favorite activity is catfishing dudes online. she hates her appearance, and feels like she’ll never truly know who she really is. after the events of the show fionna and cake, she learns all she can about fionna by stalking her online. she adopts fionna’s backstory as her own, and even commits a few instances of identity theft against her. this torments her and she hates doing it, but feels like she has no other choice. her and fionna look strikingly similar, and it has made her actually start to appreciate her own appearance and feel whole for once.

phoenix fleming hates his mother, she’s a big preacher in the local church and raised him as strictly as possible. he was barely allowed to leave the house until he moved out as soon as possible, and discovered his love for raves and DJing. he now devotes all his time to being dj flame, and his mother refuses to let him be. his next door neighbor, miss bundy, is kinder to him than his own mother ever was, and brings him treats every day.

Yes! Barb went out her way to stay with them and yeah. She wanted to know what these Bergens are and wanted to fight something… so yeah!

Because…

At first when chef attacked, she and branch where at their respective kingdoms and did not know about the attack when… a few of the pop trolls race out to go find the two…. Poppy already left and ignored her father’s warnings by venturing off by herself…

because her friends, the snack pack, got taken by chef… the only friend that did not was Cooper cause he was with his bio family when all of this happened…

so Peppy took it to his hands and ordered a few trolls to alert both king branch and queen barb…. Begging the two for help/advice.

Barb went to go meet up with Branch and asked him what to do since the guy’s more knowledgeable about how to handle in these types of crises…

Branch then would alert his father and Minuet to help take in some of the Pop trolls and told Barb to alert her own father and people to gather the rest of the pop trolls into her kingdom for the time being… for that would be their top priority….

Branch then alerted the funk family about the news since he knows that this was Cooper’s friends and to have them to keep an eye out for his and Barb’s kingdoms when they started to leave to go find Poppy.

He then told Barb to hop on his back and he’ll fly up to locate Poppy’s location… since they’ll have a bird’s eye view as to where Poppy was heading.

For Barb at the beginning would be pumped to see where this leads but when on his back the way Branch flies… felt like she was both gunna throw up and felt like she could easily fall off due to how fast and chaotic he flew to find Poppy… But Barb did not want any smoke cause she sees a cold fury in his face that made her shut up.

Branch was both furious and terrified as to what may happen if he doesn’t fly in time to stop Poppy from doing something he consider to be suicidal.

Corlys and Rhaenys anon here. I would like for people to finally understand that the reason why Rhaenyra will never be explicitly reffered to as "beloved" in terms of personal relationships, especially as a wife, has nothing to do with her or Daemon in their intimate life, and everything to do with what she represents in a mysoginistic and patriarchal society: she is a woman that wants to rule, that effectively does not live by the rules imposed on her - not in her attitude, not in her personality, not in her position as heir etc.

Historically, women in positions similar or identical to Rhaenyra are constantly attacked, especially in historical documents. They are considered - by men generally, but by other women too - unnatural, anomalies that look to disturb the "proper" order of things. And these attacks do not resume only at them as persons - since they are unnatural in wanting to rule, they are also seen as unnatural mothers, wives etc. Every aspect of their personal life is under scrutiny and under attack as well. Sometimes they are not even considered women.

(See how The Shepherd reffers to Rhaenyra: “this unnatural queen who sits bleeding on the Iron Throne, her whore’s lips glistening and red with the blood of her sweet sister.”)

That's why we don't have romantic songs about Rhaenyra in the way we have about Laena or Nettles. Because Laena and Nettles do not disrupt the order of things in any way - Laena is won at a duel and handled between Corlys and Daemon; Nettles comes from nowhere and goes nowhere. They depend on Daemon alone to provide some importance for them. They are, in many ways, ideal for a patriarchal society.

Rhaenyra is not only proactive in deciding to live her life as she desires, but she is also held guilty for a war that was never started by her, called a whore repeatedly, dehumanized to the point of disbelief. But it's not hard at all to discern, from the objective actions of the people in her life, how beloved she was not only by Viserys, Daemon and all of her children, but by the people also.

I'm sorry this turned out so long, it's just... I wish people would comprehend this and stop painting her as unloved, mocking her, calling her names. Because in doing so they fall directly into the trap of the maesters who obviously hated her.

The simple fact that people continued to fight for her even after she died, that it is her line that continues, should tell people who was in the right. Alas, this fandom was never known for critical thinking.

So, I put this observation under the tags to a funny post, but it had me really reflecting on my childhood, and it's a topic I always keep in my mind.

I remember growing up with queerness as this taboo - something which was a he-who-must-not-be-named basis. I remember listening to the adults in my life talking scandelously about anything remotely queer. I think a lot of people are under the impression that children are simply dumb as rocks and can't understand anything, and while I didn't understand queerness, I understood that that was what I was.

I remember exploring my gender in the confines of cisheterosexual normativity. I saw myself in all of the male princes, the heroes, the idea that I could emulate the qualities of a Good Man when I was older, and it was weird. I knew that much about me, but I also knew that these ideas were never made with me in mind. I think that's a big part of what held me back from actively combating the life that felt forced onto me.

Part of me wishes to go back to the time I reveled in imagining myself as Prince Charming just to say that... you're right, you were Prince Charming. You saw the world that turned its cheek to you, and you retreated inward. Your heart was always on your sleeve, but you can make it. You will, you must.

the symbolism of this cover is so important

seeing how HJ and juwan weren't there when EY walked out, the cover implies that EY saved himself by taking his younger version with him, leaving everything else behind. he never had anyone, so he has to do it himself.

the way EY walks out his younger princess version also implies EY himself is the prince who saves the princess. and therefore doesn't need anyone else (a different prince) to save him.

also the fact that his younger self is the Cinderella version implies that that's how EY views his younger self: dressed up and happy doing what he loves <- that's the version he wants to take with him, not the angry and hateful version.
