there’s something about poseidon showing up for sally.
luke tells percy that they burn what they’ll miss most so that gods will know that what they’re saying is important so they’re really listen.
but sally burns ice cream. ice cream that she has no attachment to. it’s not even baby percy’s ice cream. it’s just random leftover ice cream that she grabbed from a pile of dirty dishes.
the ice cream could not be more unimportant to sally. in the grand scheme of things, the ice cream is nothing.
but poseidon comes to her anyway. he shows up immediately after probably the most lackluster offering sally could give. he shows up anyway.
just…there’s something about poseidon showing up for sally.

think it'd be really cool if percy could teleport using water. just needing to be in direct contact with a water source to transfer from one puddle to the next. cornering monsters in damp alleyways like it's no one's business. foregoing the subway when the forecast calls for showers. crossing the ocean quicker that you can say pacific. quality content.

Okay I'm feeling kinda silly so imagine if you will,
Odysseus and Penelope walking along the beach with their sons (Astyanax lives :P) just all four of them enjoying finally being together. But then Astyanax points out something floating towards them in the distance—a basket? Astyanax and Telemachus rush forward to investigate their parents following after. Before either boy can step into the water to retrieve it the waves push it forward onto the bank in front of Odysseus's feet. He kneels down, takes the little lid off the basket, and OH! Would you look at that, it's a baby! Covered in a fine silk blanket, cooing up at him with big blue eyes and brown hair so dark it almost looks black, surrounded by seashells and holding a little wooden horse. Both his and Penelope's mouths drop, Astyanax wants to know if they can keep it, and Telemachus is just confused.

Currently working on a graphic novel (which will still be a concept until an editor decides it's worth paying me to complete), I don't have much yet, working on concept pages. For now have those character drawings as I keep working on scenario and storyboarding-
The temporary title is Odysseus: the last journey, and it's going to be pretty much a sequel to the Odyssey. Featuring Telemachus, Diomedes, and a lot of old and godly faces.

In The Iliad, Diomedes is able to fight & injure both Aphrodite and Ares with Athena's help/at Athena's command.
In Epic, Odysseus is only able to "defeat" one immortal, and that's Circe, and only with Hermes' explicit divine assistance.
Except... He did actually receive another godly order. Another god made a demand of him; Poseidon explicitly told him to become more Ruthless. You could argue it was a divine command, intentional or not.
...I joked about him being a paladin last night, but I do think there's power in stories when it comes to oaths, and what the gods tell you to do, tell you to be.
Odysseus followed through with Poseidon's demands, and he was rewarded for it, even if perhaps not the way Poseidon would have appreciated.

Percy, to a group of young cyclops: So I know it sucks that dad isn't around all the time. But on the bright side, we don't have to put up with cringy dad jokes!
Poseidon: Hello Percy. Do you know why fish are so easy to weigh?
Percy: No? What does that have to do with anything?
Poseidon: It's because they have their own scales! Get it, scales.
Baby Cyclops:
Percy:
Percy: I should've let Kronos raze Olympus.

I believe in freedom of belief and religion and practicing it in a way that suits you, your style, and your needs, but people need to understand not everyone has the same beliefs or has the same structure as you.
If you're a person that takes the myth of your religion seriously in your craft then that's perfectly fine, but other people do not. If person worships Zeus or Poseidon don't give them the stink eye for "worshipping a bad deity". Those deities are more than just their myths, it can even be argued that the myths have no basis at all when it comes to worship. (moral context)
It is understandable that certain individuals will be uncomfortable or downright disgusted by these myths and it will affect how they see the deity, but remember that no one has the same beliefs. Do not hunt someone down for their differences in beliefs.

I love Eldritch Percy AUs.
+ Normal People who saw Percy or were around him developed intense thalassophobia, freezing up in terror at the sight of any aquatic creature. Poseidon and his wife Amphitrite told Sally that till he can control it they should stay with them in Atlantis. It was only later that they discovered the side effects Percy had on people.
++ As Percy was born, he was in an eldritch (monster) form that was visible even as a newborn. His cries had an irresistible effect, compelling anyone who heard them to move toward him. Fortunately, Poseidon was present at his birth. So as none of the doctors could truly touch him, except for Sally, who held her son and told Poseidon his name would be "Percy," Upon hearing this, Percy transformed back into a human form, shedding his tentacled, otherworldly appearance.
Poseidon looking at the baby: "He seems to still have them, just hidden under the skin. I don't remember the last kid who had this."
+ Sally as his mom is save from the side effects of her baby, not like most other humans or even Demigods.

The argo crew try and do their own version of Epic the Musical for fun with their limited cast and all I know is:
Leo is Hera not because of their connection but because no one else wanted it and I have a really distinct design in mind and Leo deserves to look pretty in a sea foam green dress and peacock feather earrings
And
Jason was gonna be Zeus for obvious reasons but they all took one look at Leo and then at Jason looking at Leo with hearts in his eyes and absolutely no one could suspend belief enough that someone who looks at their 'wife' like that would cheat)

Obsessed with the way Evadne's relationship with Apollo is described. Obsessed with the way Apollo was especially gentle with her because she was sheltered, hidden away and hadn't had any sort of experience with love prior to Apollo (and due to it being described as her 'first learning Aphrodite's joy' through Apollo', it was probably her first time even being attracted to someone). Obsessed with the way when she runs away, she stops in a violet patch to give birth. Y'know, violets, very famously the flower so strongly associated with Aphrodite that they were used in love potions? Those violets. Obsessed with the way that when Apollo realised his lover was going to have to deliver their child alone, he sent BOTH the goddess of childbirth and ALL THREE OF THE FATES to help and support her. Obsessed with the way that Apollo sends snakes to feed his baby honey straight from their fangs because Evadne abandons their son out of straight primal fear when her stepfather finds her and how the description of that honey is 'sweet venom' [ἰός] of the bees and is DEFINITELY a poetic pair/pun with [ἴον] aka violets and that every single thing about this relationship, conception and birth is a complete and utter fairytale down to Evadne's insanely overprotective stepfather having an immediate change of heart when he learned Evadne's child was an actual, legitimate Son of Apollo and the babe, after being cared for by his dad's honey-fanged snake buddies, was found perfectly healthy five days later swaddled in a blanket of violets (y'know the flowers so strongly associated with Aphrodite that they were used for lo-) and they called him Iamus aka Boy of the Violets which is AAAAAARRRR I AM GNAWING AT MY ENCLOSURE
Iamus was made of love. Everything about him was surrounded by deep and profound love and like, let's not even talk about his whole Thing of when he came of age and was like "I need to find out what my purpose is" and he literally had a Disney Protagonist moment where he ran out into the wilds and was like "Father!! Grandfather!! Tell me what I'm supposed to doooo!!" and then APOLLO FUCKING ANSWERED AND LED HIM TO ONE HIS TEMPLES ENTIRELY BY TALKING WITH IAMUS AND LETTING HIM FOLLOW HIS VOICE FOR THE WHOLE JOURNEY LIKE -
What do y'all know about the kind of SSS tier romantic escapades Apollo had fr?
#ginger rambles#NO BECAUSE WHAT DO Y'ALL KNOW ABOUT APOLLO AND EVADNE FR#They're a MAD underrated couple and their story is what everyone wishes Hades/Persephone was#Evadne actually WAS sheltered and overprotected because she was a daughter of Poseidon explicitly given to Aepytus to watch over#And Aepytus to his credit wasn't actually a bad man or anything he just took his job very very seriously#Super pious guy - even though he was positively incandescent when he found out Evadne was pregnant he didn't hit her or anything#He just was like “Get me my HORSE I am going to consult the GODS about my DAUGHTER'S HARLOTRY”#Evadne was fucking terrified of him though she hid that pregnancy like her life depended on it#And the minute she heard horse hooves even though she had just finished giving birth she dropped Iamus like he was molten and fucking ran#I could only imagine Aepytus having set up a baby shower or something cause he was overjoyed by the oracle and Evadne gets home thinking#she's going to get Dungeon'd only for Aepytus to hug her and be like “You should've told me you were seeing Apollo sob emoji sob emoji”#God I'm sure Evadne had a bunch of trauma to work through with her stepfather changing his whole entire attitude on a complete#Apollo doesn't directly interfere with their lives after Iamus is born up until Iamus comes looking for him but he was definitely keeping#a very close eye on them all through their lives#Ugh I'm sick I'm so sick in the head thinking about them#apollo#evadne#iamus#greek mythology#ginger chats about greek myths

we know percy looks a lot like poseidon, but i wonder how much he acted like him. you think when baby percy got confused, his eyebrows would scrunch together like when sally tried to explain taxes to poseidon? you think when baby percy got angry, his eyes would turn a dark, almost black, green like when sally explain the hospital bills for a pregnant person? you think when baby percy got happy, his smile resembled poseidon's when she told him she was pregnant? you think when percy exhibited his water powers for the first time in the bathtub, sally teared up a little because all she wanted to do was show poseidon, but couldn't?
