A terrifically repressed Edwardian ghost (he’s my fave he’s worryingly relatable I want to kill him affectionately)

His best friend- who happens to be yet ANOTHER emotionally repressed ghost with a near-permanent smile and no impulse control

An adorably bitchy psychic who shows up in episode one and is IMMEDIATELY there to stay

A very good-omens-y plot point about the afterlife being some kinda bureaucracy

An incredibly sexy and RIDICULOUSLY pissed-off witch

The most INCREDIBLE relationships between characters- ESPECIALLY the developing platonic relationships

FAR too many emotions for me to be okay with

A RIDICULOUSLY addictive plot tbh. Like. Watched this last week and I’m still thinking about it 24/7

So erm. In conclusion, YOU WILL NOT REGRET WATCHING. (Also the more ppl who watch it the more likely we are to get a season 2 so. PLEASE.)

Hm. So about the Hidden Moon ending.

I like it no matter what and admittedly I'm going through some stuff right now so I wasn't paying 100% attention.

But does the ending imply that:

It was all a story/marketing concept Khen thought up because he likes history, Chiang Mai and bumped into a hot student with a penchant for Shakespeare.

History is repeating itself.

History might be repeating itself but this time things are different due to changed karma.

A mixture of all of the above aka we just don't know.

And like I said, I like open endings even if they're a bit confusing. The last episode felt hopeful rather than sad to me and that's what stayed with me the most. Overall, I really liked the show despite its flaws. 🙏

I also suspect that there's a much clearer ending in the novel that just didn't work very well in the show (like with IFYLITA).

There’s a lot to be said about Tang being the one to kill Jingna. After all the fighting and bloodshed, Mo and Thongkam finally reached a compromise and the movie could have ended right there. It would’ve been a bittersweet ending considering all the losses beforehand, but that was still too much. Instead, Tang, a man of the law, attacks them. He specifically attacks the queer characters. First trying to murder Thongkam and then successfully murdering Jingna. Of all the characters Jingna could be said to have the most “innocence” in his relation to the family’s infighting, but he still gets killed. By a character representing the law. At first I wasn’t sure how I felt about the ending considering I tend to have more of an aversion to queer stories that end so tragically but I don’t think there was any other way they could end this with the message they were trying to send. It’s a film about inequality and a happy ending is not possible because of these inequalities. Even if the characters can find peace amongst each other it doesn’t matter if the law says otherwise. It’s also what makes his death so painful. The film started and ended with the deaths of two gay men who did not need to die if the law was in their favor. If Thongkam was accepted as Sek’s husband he would have lived. If a symbol of the law didn’t actively try to kill Jingna with bloodshot eyes that can’t see right from wrong he would have lived. The ending leaves you feeling devastated, helpless, and in some ways shocking but it just couldn’t have gone another way.
