My bisexual king (headcanon! Also don't get mad at me for that headcanon) would go feral over my lesbian queen. I love OSTER Project so much and I love Rui so much. Also yeah yeah I know OSTER Project's problematic or whatever but I can still listen to her music. It's good music. And she's definitely good at creating it, for sure...must be the experience :P

I mean, it makes sense! Doesn't WxS have a commission song by her? And it's the type of music they perform!!!

dangan ask game - 1, 4, 46?

Thanks so much for the ask! These questions are from the Danganronpa Asks post. For those interested, we also recently reblogged a Character Ask post, and have other ask games you can find in our tag #let's have fun with this!

1. What was your first exposure to Danganronpa?

My very super first exposure was years 'n' years ago to the point I don't remember what year it even was, when I watched the anime on a whim. I had no idea it was originally a video game and thought it was a standalone thing. I liked it! But since I thought it was its own thing and I wasn't actively online much at the time, it stopped there. My spiritual first exposure was in 2018/2019 when Ra-kun over on @irlkokichiouma introduced me to V3 and we got on video calls to watch a no commentary let's play together. Kokichi was instantly my little guy and we spent a lot of time playing around with time loop AUs and Saihara Mastermind AUs and this whole thing where Kokichi and Rantaro were both originally in 52, which was stalemated when Kokichi was able to take proper leadership of the class and they all just started communally living together in the academy as DICE, forcing Team Dangan to end it early and plunking Rantaro and Kokichi into 53 as retribution. That era is where we got our dearest Kichi, who has been with us ever since. No idea if he subscribes to any of the headcanons or AUs we had at the time, because he's generally pretty tight-lipped about his in-game canon, but we do know he's suspected Saihara to be the mastermind for quite some time.

4. Which character can you absolutely not stand?

That is an excellent question tbh. In terms of the potential of any character, I think there's a lot to do with them. Some were pretty lackluster to me and some I used to really hate in the narrative only for their potential to grow on me as I got to know a little about the variations from my muses, but confined within the canon narrative itself...? I admit I have not actually played THH properly yet, so I feel like I can't make a good faith assessment on any of the characters there. SDR2, Akane started to wear on me towards the end with her excessive food obsessive comic relief. The stakes were really high by then, so to have her out of nowhere doing bits about being hungry kind of took me out of it. I understand that her character's more complex than that, and I appreciate her potential in the narrative and quite like her overall, it just got annoying during gameplay itself. V3, oh boy. I will have to admit that I find Tenko, Himiko, and Angie really grating within the gameplay alone. Angie stands out too much as a cultish Pacific Islander caricature for me to really gel with her in the canon narrative. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there who do her justice and mend the many, many issues there are with her character, but within the game itself it's... god awful to look at. Himiko I find narratively uninteresting at best and annoying at worst with her constant magic nonsense and griping about everything being a pain and generally being useless to the rest of the cast. It got old fast. And Tenko, oh god, Tenko. She squicks me out a little with her blatant radfem and terfy stance. Narratively? I think there's a lot you can do with that, but I don't think any Tenko fans would appreciate the thoughts I have on that. In the game itself, it's... squicky. Especially considering I myself am transmasc, I don't really like having to watch her go around calling people degenerate males and whatnot for a bit. It's not really funny.

46. What are some of your Pregame headcanons?

Gosh, that varies a lot depending on whether we're talking Real Fiction or Hope's Peak universe and even more depending on the muse because I play around with a lot of variety here. Granted, most of these are for Kokichi. I have bits and pieces for other characters, but they're not really as fleshed out.

A lot of my headcanons fall in line with Hope's Peak universes, where the Tragedy was real and Ultimate Talents are also real, and that V3 takes place in the era of post-Tragedy reconstruction and Danganronpa is a morbid "memorial" show paying homage to the Tragedy or something similar. In simulation universes, kids would sign up for Danganronpa to draw attention to themselves and showcase what they believed their Talent to be in hopes of being scouted by the new Hope's Peak Academy reopened by Naegi and the Future Foundation. Major Pregame headcanons for Kokichi that I have for this sort of setting are that DICE is a real ragtag group of varying ages (not all his age like most people headcanon) that he amassed over time as a found family. Muses like Cookie (Kokichi, non-simulation) and Joker (Kokichi, simulation) subscribe to these headcanons. He was young and abandoned during the Tragedy, to be found by two of the oldest members of DICE, who were 19 at the time. The entire group lives out of a broken down RV left in an abandoned dump, and make ends meet between the younger kids' pickpocketing and the adults' sparse jobs. His Talent of Ultimate Supreme Leader is genuine. One member of DICE, Mi-chan, joined Danganronpa 52 as the Ultimate Loyalist when the group was really strapped for cash, and was either severely traumatized by her pseudo-death (simulation, Joker) or outright died (non-simulation, Cookie). Kokichi joined Danganronpa 53 to avenge her and bring Team Danganronpa down. Another universe in the post-Tragedy setting I have headcanons Kokichi as being Mikan's baby brother who was kept with the Remnants during the Tragedy. The Future Foundation had him moved into foster care after the Remnants were captured and he was discovered. Loopy (Kokichi) subscribes to these headcanons. Another universe in the post-Tragedy setting headcanons DICE as being the entirety of the Danganronpa 53 cast, including Tsumugi, led by Kokichi. In this universe, the Future Foundation has become corrupt and monopolized post-Tragedy reconstruction. DICE was making an effort to disrupt that monopoly and knock them down a peg by assisting with reconstruction in their own ways and showing the world that they had options. They had many projects going on, including inciting a post-Tragedy space race and infiltrating the FF to appeal to the reformed Remnants of Despair to join their side. Future Foundation didn't like this, and started the Ultimate Hunt to apprehend them, which they did. Danganronpa 53 is what they did with them. Gemini (Kokichi) and Lyra (Kaede) subscribe to these headcanons. In terms of Real Fiction canon, however, my headcanons are very different. I lean in to the idea of Kokichi being a lonely recluse, who is disinterested in getting close to other people on account he always gets burned when he tries. He is cold and calculating, but knows that he doesn't have the strength or charisma to do much about his situation as the Bullied Kid, preferring to just keep his head down and wait out his time in high school until he can get out of his abusive home and make something of himself on his own terms. He takes a lot of his frustration out online as a tyrannical mod on Danganronpa forums. He hates Danganronpa as a microcosm of the cruelty and vitriol of the world, and believes all people to be inherently terrible, himself included. Danganronpa to him is little more than a convenient dumping ground for the worst of the worst, who stupidly sign their lives away to become cannon fodder to the machine. Saihara really creeps him out and he only entertains his gross obsession with him and Danganronpa because he buys him food sometimes and gives him a place to be that's not his parents' house (although his stalker's apartment isn't much better, let's be real).

Sidebar about Amami that fits into either one of these canon interpretations: He is the son of a very affluent old-money man and had a lot of expectations on him that he really didn't give a damn about personally. I am a fellow ASPD Amami believer, and headcanon that this was very much a runs-in-the-family situation on his father's side. In Hope's Peak universes where he becomes the Ultimate Adventurer, my headcanons range from going all-in on traveling the world to alleviate the chronic boredom common to ASPD to outright getting into the most reckless, dangerous aspects of adventuring he could just to scratch that itch, from drugs to theft to assault to grave robbery. Most of those heavier, more hard-core headcanons are courtesy of @irlkokichiouma, though! In that vein, joining Danganronpa for Amami was part thrill-seeking and part "this is where someone like me belongs, right?"
