I have an AU ive been working on. (And Art for it, too!)

ENDLING AU:

Inspired by the extremely recent transmissions displayed in the Vessel - what if there were a means of connecting with the Nomai after the loop had been broken already?

Art i made, first and foremost. If i am egged on enough i may make a fic out of it.

First one, is some ancient Nomai, to get a good idea of what they look like as they are seen in the game. Second, is my idea for a Modern Nomai.

A doodle of two nomai after the plot has kicked off. Both of these two are ocs! Almost every nomai you will see out of this au is an OC contributed by a friend! But these two are mine.

Speaking of, here is Ficus. Hatchy’s rescuer and resident dad. Ill definitely explain more of the plot later, but for now, here you all go. Feel free to shoot me asks about the AU, and ill answer them for everyone!:)

The Legend Of Outer Wilds That's it guys! I'm finally posting about TLOOW! For those who don't know about this: This is a medieval-fantasy alternate universe of Outer Wilds, heavily inspired by the Zelda franchise

I've heard a while back the OW devs talking about how Zelda Skyward Sword frustrated them so much that it ended up being "everything not to do" in Outer Wilds. But with time, I ended up playing around with the idea of a crossover between Skyward Sword and Outer Wilds. I liked the idea of replacing space with an endless sky, the ships with giant bugs, the plants with islands, and I thought about the character design potential...

So I did it! I designed each characters, and then created a world with the help of a few friends!

I will also post all the concept art I did here, but in a different post! I'll make sure to give little descriptions and behind the scenes for all of them!

For the Detroit: Become Human x Outer Wilds AU Spitzle and I have been working on (along with the help of Cosmo too!!!!) TWs: Injury, blood (although its blue), limb dislocation (its not really visible but just in case), self worth issues, angst Context and details below the cut vv

The Hatchling was made as a replacement for Gabbro, they are perfect in every way Gabbro isn't. They cant feel pain, they have better systems, their vision is clearer, they have a purpose... They don't have to be reset every so often because they are faulty. Delirious Gabbro can only stare in awe and admire everything they are not, and could never be - The Hatchling hears a sound that awfully resembles the cries of a real Hatchling, Gabbro is also missing after their accident. They start searching despite being in a very bad state themselves. They need to retrieve the Android, or at least know its whereabouts no matter what They find the source of the sound, Gabbro. Injured, lying on the ground. They can't listen to these awful sounds they're making anymore. They remember how Esker holds a Hatchling close and soothes them, that seems to work to make them stop. They attempt the same. (Not knowing it'll only hurt Gabbro more in the process.) An AU where androids started being made after Feldspar's death, as a way to replace the lost Hearthian. Little do they know this would only lead in the few Androids to develop feelings and identity issues hdjsahdajs. Closeups + Details: The Hatchlings eye lenses being fully exposed because the plastic that works as "eye lids" is gone. The "Software instability" icon being purple, since the Hatchling has a special Nomai chip and the idle state is purple, instead of the usual blue. Gabbro's and Hatchlings blood being visually different, cus Gabbro is the older model, who needs their fuel cleaned whereas the Hatchling is perfect The things written in the "You were always perfect" wall text is all Gabbro admiring the Hatchling :3c

Possibly a preview of another ISAT + Outer Wilds AU crossover fic I might do?

Just sorta had this idea on a whim and wrote up the first page or so and wanted to share and gauge interest. (Obvi not replacing my current fic, but rather just as another thing to put on my active projects pile)

“-Frin!”

(You wake with a start-)

(Your remaining eyes flick open and you find yourself staring up at the night’s sky above you.)

(Your eyes are blurry from sleep, painting a purple blur inside a green blob that you assume must be Giants Deep.)

(You groan and rub your eyes as you hear an annoyed huff.)

“Common dummy, it’s launch day! Get up, get up, get up!”

(Your eyes now clear, you can see an impatient Bonnie looking down at you.)

(With your newfound consciousness, you mumble a response,)

“I’m up-”

“Good! Now hurry up and go get the launch codes from Euphrasie! I wanna see if the retro-thrusters I fixed hold up!”

“Yah know Bonnie, it’s statements like that one, that make me very worried about if I’m going to make it out of the atmosphere.”

(Bonnie gives you a dismissive look and crosses their arms,)

“Pffft- I made it suuuuuper safe! A perfect 10 outa 10 in safety!”

“…Well- except with pilot mistakes, in which case it’s probably about a four.”

(They stick out their tongue at you, so you assume that’s a joke.)

(You shake your head and roll your eyes- while a part of you is a bit scared to go up into space all on your own, you don’t really doubt Bonnie’s handiwork.)

(They’ve been fixing up all the ships since their sister went missing, so you figure if anyone was gonna blow up on the launch pad, it would have been one of the other explorers)

Sooooooooo considering how much stuff has been done about it (and considering the friends who enabled me into expanding what was originally just a dumb self-indulgent shitpost), and considering the fact that I said I would be posting about blue alien frogs only to then not post anything, I guess it is time for this AU to breach containment.

I am on the fence regarding whether or not this AU constitutes spoilers for the game Outer Wilds or not. This AU is sort of a quantumly official/unofficial sequel to my longfic Fate Knows No One, but also is sufficiently disconnected from it that spoilers for the fic itself are going to be limited for at least a very long while. Maybe even long enough that I will be able to convince my brain to finish the fic in question before the spoilers show up in the AU.

That being said: Modern AU? What's better about Outer Wilds than to take these wonderful Hearthians, living peacefully on their tiny cozy planet full of geysers, rocket-induced explosions, and pine trees, and throw them into the wonderful world of capitalism? /s

Anyway, the comic probably was extremely confusing for anyone who did not already know about this AU through the Campfire Discord server, but thankfully I can provide you with a slightly better explanation of what's going on right here. Just know that, um, I heavily recommend you already have caught up on the regular Outer Wilds lore, because it will spoil an important part about what happens in the ending of the game. It will also spoil some part of FKNO (the fic), but if you have played Outer Wilds, it's a part of the fic you already knew would happen anyway.

saw the endling au concepts and i RAN here. so like how does hatchy communicate with the nomai? do they use their translator and then draw their responses (because the nomai can't understand them) or is there a workaround youve thought of?

also i wanna say i love your modern nomai design, i always thought the normal spacesuit masks were clunky and impractical and the new one you made seems so much nicer (and it's visually representative of thousands of years of development past tradition toward ease of use etc etc)

Oh my goodness WOW this is such a lovely set of questions, omg. Hatchy communicates with the Nomai at first with simple yes and no questions utilizing the translator, but as for the rest of the communication business, thats still under wraps ;;] i will say on that note though, there’s going to be several new characters introduced in this. Im also going to mention that this fic IS in second person, i was particularly inspired by Tippertot’s approach to that specific pov. I’m having a complete blast writing it. I also feel like it works well for the set point of view in the hatchling’s shoes (maybe ill have cutaways to some of the nomai points of view but I don’t know if that’s something i can guarantee.)

Also, thank you! I was considering how modern Nomai might look different over the course of roughly 200k years, and decided that the clans would likely have a “dont fix it if it isnt broken” approach to spacetravel, only changing things for convenience, efficiency, communication, or comfort. And given the fact that Nomai technology is based on sight, it only made sense for them to adapt a more efficient (but still faithful) version of the helmet.

The Nomai are a very sentimental species who love to honor those whose curiosity came before theirs, and i think that would also shine through in their faithful spacesuit designs. Its also for this reason that i think they would try to preserve as much of the artistic expression and flair that the old nomai clans would decorate their suits with as they could.

outer wilds hatchling au angst that i uh,, sort of made on impulse in one day and i'm not too proud of but its whatever

anyways, have gabbro comforting hatchling after discovering that they uh. did a little whoopsie thing. /j

also to me this song evokes the feeling of being comforted after such a thing. i swear to god there's that one specific emotion you feel that no matter if the person says the exact right thing it doesnt help. you feel so small, so embarrassed, you dont want to say anything at all but at the same time it's best that someone knows.

and also i kinda sorta kin hatchling ever so slightly, and gabbro is my comfort character, and i used to really really strugglw with s/h. so i kinda used my experience with self harm in the past and what it feltlike being comforted after to channel it into this. i hope you like it.

i might write it into a story if it's not to triggering ::)

Outer Wilds Idea

An idea for an Outer Wilds AU has been rattling around my mind.

A reincarnation AU for the Hatching and two others.

Massive spoilers for the game btw, you have been warned

A reincarnation AU in which the Hatching is the incarnation of Solanum, who in turn is the incarnation of The Prisoner.

What caused this idea was that both the Prisoner and Solanum have died, but in some way are also alive.

Imagine talking to your previous incarnation, who have searched for the eye long before you. An innate curiosity that has transcended time and lives, buried in you shared soul.

Walking around the ruins, with glimpses of a time full of joy and life, walking in a different body, of weird eyes and stranger skin, of caverns and curiosity. Another body, so tall you fell you would fall with every step, of weirder eyes and stranger voices, with a yearning for a home you see around, but do not feel.

I'm kind of surprised to have not seen anything else like this out there, though maybe I've just simply not seen it.
