The Ouroboros is an alchemical machine that seeds ideas. It is not responsible for how man uses them. It has a built in self-destruct mechanism.

From THE WISDOM OF DREAMS: Science, Synchronicity and the Language of the Soul by Greg Mahr M.D.& Chris Drake Ph.D. (Routledge) The ouroboros and the chemical structure of the benzene ring. Dream solutions often have archetypal elements. Kekulé did not dream of a carbon ring; he dreamt of a snake devouring its own tail. That image is an ancient symbol of life and rebirth, known as the ouroboros, first seen in ancient Egyptian art, then Greek art and eventually in alchemy and Gnosticism. Mr. Hyde is a brilliant depiction of our Shadow, the dark side of ourselves that Jung explicated.

When Eurydice followed Orpheus from the underworld, it was Schrodinger’s existence. How do you know if she’s behind you or not if you haven’t looked? How do you, Eurydice, know if you’re there at all? This is what it’s like for Scully.
Mulder and Scully would go to the end of the earth for each other. When Scully made the decision to stay on with the X Files, she did so because she wanted to see where Mulder would take them, and what she and Mulder would see on their path to the unknown.
She loves him for his passion and wonder, but in turn his fixation is his fatal flaw. One of the main reasons for her hesitation to mention the ever-present subject of their relationship is her fear that Mulder will succumb to his fixation, and lock himself in the basement forever.
Because, when it comes down to it, Scully knows full well how she feels about Mulder. She knows what they could have together and she knows how she feels. But Mulder is himself, with all of his trauma and tendencies and idiosyncrasies. He cannot look her way, even when he wants to, even when they both want him to. Mulder’s fixation on the hidden and the unknown means he cannot look to see her behind him.
He cannot support her, he cannot look at her when he’s too busy looking at the sky. They’re partners, running this path together, but he doesn’t look back to see her falling behind him. And his faith that she will be behind him, which she always will be, means that he doesn’t turn to look.
Mulder and Scully would go to the ends of the earth for each other. We watch Mulder travel time and time again to the underworld for her. But Mulder does not look back. They’re still stuck in the basement, they’re still trying to exit the underworld.
To Scully’s point of view, their relationship, from Scully’s role in the X Files to her importance to Mulder, exists in that quantum state where he doesn’t look back at her. It’s Orpheus and Eurydice, Scully and Mulder. They’re still walking out of the underworld.
And until Mulder gets his head on straight, until Mulder has the presence of mind to look up and leave the basement, nothing will change. Her following him, they're still traveling the underworld. Their relationship exists in this state. This is the tragedy. If you don’t look back, how do you know if she’s there at all?

Work on Leander cosplay makeup is coming along!! I shan’t be sharing my earlier drafts that sucked more XD still have to even things out (eyes+brows) and finish styling the wig but I think I’m entering the refining process for makeup + wig instead of the beginning stages :D

Um. Um. Tma the horror is in being created into a monster, and being turned into something you don't recognize, and this is shown so much in the parental figures of the show, and the older generation. Tmagp seems to be the horror is in the creation, creating something and having it turn around and destroy you. The younger generation, alchemy, even your future self.

But also I’m just saying, Scott McCall did not smirk like a smug asshole at the twins after taking apart one’s motorcycle to lure the other into getting caught with their motorcycle in the school hallway just for ppl to act like this guy was new to Shenanigans. Like. That was a Scott-Allison-Isaac group project, Stiles was nowhere near it, I know its been 84 million years since then but the myth of Scott having no sense of humor or prankster energy of his own will always make me itch irritably.

You know what really slaps about Rimmer/Lister as a concept? You can ship them in the fluffiest, warm-cocoa kind of way, or as fatally toxic, codependent freaks who cannot communicate and should absolutely not involve anyone else in their shenanigans. and somehow both of these interpretations are equally supported by canon.

Tumblr is chock-full of people far too consumed by their own desire/need to be loved & listened to, than to be there for any other, aside from their own (self)

Hey there!
I just wanted to say I re read UTB and it's inspiring and so so so very good! It's a rollercoaster ride and I get so excited every time I see an update come through in my emails :)
I wanted to ask a question about Gwyn. I had a good scroll and couldn't see that it was asked before but it might already have been asked, so I am sorry if this is a repeat and feel free to ignore it if it is!
What would have happened if Gwyn wasn't born a Peak Alpha? Would Crielle have seen it as some kind of failing that a Peak Alpha lineage hadnt been achieved?
I also had a question about Efnisien and Crielle.
Would there ever be a scenario where Crielle would have raised Efnisien as a "high society Omega" (which I can imagine would have been its own level of hell) if she didn't go down the experimentation path or would he have been disposed of?
Thank you for all your writing!
So, in a way if Gwyn hadn't been born a peak alpha...if he wouldn't have been killed, he would have had an upbringing that echoed all his other abusive upbringings with Crielle.
I've been asked for like 10 years 'what would happen if Crielle loved her son / got the son she always wanted' - and so Underline the Black is the answer to that. We get a villain. So if you want the opposite of that, it's all my other stories about Gwyn, y'know? He gets abused, he gets tortured, he gets dismissed, he gets beat on, he gets tormented, he meets Augus (or Ash, or both of them) etc. etc.
Crielle loving Gwyn is the answer to the original question: What would happen if Crielle ended up loving her son? What if he'd been born the way she wanted him to be born?
The question you're asking is in a weird way, answered in every single fic before that. The fics that led to that question being asked in the first place. :D You can read the original Fae Tales series if you want to know what happens if Gwyn hadn't been born Seelie a peak alpha
Would there ever be a scenario where Crielle would have raised Efnisien as a "high society Omega" (which I can imagine would have been its own level of hell) if she didn't go down the experimentation path or would he have been disposed of?
For me, no. For other people sure!
But for me...not without completely remaking Crielle's character. It's pretty fundamental to her to be kind of an intensely intelligent and malevolent scientist in the background of her caring about high society.
Ultimately Efnisien got to live because she saw a use for him. If she didn't see a use for him, I can't imagine why she'd want to raise him as a high society omega, honestly. That takes effort and money, and she's consolidated enough in her power, finances and legacy that she doesn't feel the need to create a cash cow to sell off to create a connection to another family.
I think he would be disposed of. I honestly think she will still try to dispose of him. Efnisien being wrong about this in Underline the Black is like...the right thing to be worried about. She's not done with him. And the ultimate end-game for her is getting rid of him now that he's lose his use to her.
