Nonnie I'm sorry to disappoint but I have a very low opinion on SJM and her books if I could fist fight a fictional character it would be rhysand😭 but I don't judge those who read her I think as long as people are reading it doesn't matter what they like💜

YES! Yes I can, absolutely. They've been on my mind recently after reading another book and listening to my favorite songs.

I do see them being in a reincarnation plot, based on Midas thinking Rafal would bring him back in fall, briefly before he died. I have a mini post about it somewhere in my blog.

I wish Soman had the two spend more time together, as friends or ex lovers or SOMETHING. They didn't even kiss. Like could Soman at least have done a betrayal? (I am a sucker for angst.) I mean, he DID but something that had an even deeper emotional weight, where Rafal felt more guilty.

It could even have gone along where Rafal treats Midas like another James, and everything just circles back to either Rhian-- or James Hook. And Midas is not a second or a replacement, but he feels disappointed in Rafal.

I also love unrequited love, so there was a bonus of some Mifal and more Jafal like COME ON!

But I would love a plot where they reincarnate into the current SGE world, maybe when the main cast are much older at that point, and both of them meet each other, have a connection, but don't really know why. Maybe Midas could be an actual ruler this time, with his unique golden ability while reincarnated Rafal does have some of his magic. (while still being his own person, of course.) I actually theorize that somehow, after the demimagus incident, Rafal and Midas do have a soul-link that operates in some way, shape, or form. And that maybe they knew each other before and "Rafal" and "Midas" are actually other lifetimes. But these are really stupid theories.

I really like how Midas is fearless of Rafal, and I think fearlessness is something Rafal values. Midas pretty much fends for himself, but he also forgives Rafal the deepest and tries to save him from Pan's crossbow, and dies saying his name. James (understandably so) had some resentment when Rafal asked him to try to bring Rufius back. I think Midas embodies what Rafal may want deep inside, and I think both characters have their guilt and their grace. So in that respect, i wish they connected over those feelings as well-- being morally gray, struggling to show emotion and repressing it instead, having guilt and all that. Rafal could have still turned his back on him or-- even worse-- "I haven't forgotten James but you were pretty close to making me. Nice time together while we had it."

Also if it is reincarnation, it could work as karma for Rafal if Midas is resurrected and has memories of Rafal but Rafal is reborn into someone else, and this new person loves Midas first but Midas is still stuck in the past. Sorta like Wisteria's plot.

I wish Midas lived too, maybe to be somewhat corrupted after Rafal's death.

I was at a bookstore looking through the art section and I saw a spine that said The Camden Town Nudes which was interesting because this didn’t seem like the bookstore where I would ever find something like that and I wanted to have a casual look but like. This also wasn’t exactly the bookstore where you felt like you could look at naked pictures let alone just suggestive paintings of them, it’s a really small shop as well, so I was like right I’ll just take a quick peek, I’m an art student, I love history, maybe I’ll buy it. I looked both ways and saw the shopkeep had left momentarily and no one was about, so I opened it and found it was an entire book featuring nude Edwardian women all painted by Walter Sickert between 1905-1912 and it was actually quite a revolutionary set of paintings for its time given that it featured very raw depictions of working class nude women in dark London instead of the elegant, white bedsheet clad, Demure middle and upper class women usually depicted.

And of course RIGHT as I flip to this lady’s boobs practically taking up an entire double page spread, every customer in a 5 mile radius appeared from around the corners of the shelf including the shopkeep and immediately regressing to a wet, pathetic Edwardian man from 1908, startled, I dropped the large book which caused a giant SLAP on the floor in this already silent store thus causing all patrons to look down at me scrambling on my knees to close a giant book of Edwardian boobs and let me tell you it would not have been nearly as funny had I not immediately felt like some Edwardian local pervert who just tried to sneak a cheeky peek at the erotic book in the bookstore only to drop it dramatically causing a scene, red up to his ears trying to shove it back on the shelf. Like such a casual and normal thing in modern day but looking at Edwardian women suddenly turned it into this egregious act as I apparently became possessed by the spirit of a moustached man in a bowler hat and morning coat going Good Heavens I mustn’t gaze upon these images in public lest the constable haul me away!

that scene in tlo where thalia tells percy he can't start feeling sorry for luke bc luke made his choices. and thalia reveals that the reason they couldn't make it to camp in time for all of them to make it to camp was bc luke kept picking fights. and annabeth never saw this as wrong bc luke was her hero. so thalia had to pick up the pieces. and percy thinking both that luke was put in a cruel position and that luke was putting others in a cruel position. and percy is the only character who understood both sides of luke bc annabeth sees only the best of him and thalia sees only the worst. and that's why percy is the prophecy kid and the one who gives luke the knife. bc annabeth had spent the entire series essentially giving luke the knife when he didn't deserve it. and thalia was never going to give luke the knife. but percy is the only one who can see exactly when luke deserves the knife.

Why is Ford even there, you might ask? Well, he either decided he preferred to watch Bill suffer in person over being distantly and repeatedly harassed with the same evil desperation book for the rest of his life, or he got roped into some kind of contrived community service for 1.) all his many counts of interdimensional thievery, and 2.) his ignoring all the very clear warnings to NOT summon Bill in the first place (which I like to imagine is also illegal). Theraprism staff were just like, 'Wait, this guy matters to Bill? Ooh, we can USE that! It might be the only thing that can help him want to get better!' It is not considered that throwing Ford at Bill so soon after Weirdmageddon could instead make them both WORSE - in new and altogether special ways! :D

Anyway, I'm calling it the Community Service AU, and I am most likely not going to do anything else with it beyond appropriating these silly Good Place jokes. So, feel free to adopt the concept if y'all wanna??? Just make sure that Bill is still not allowed to swear, no matter what, full stop. It's gotta be a real linguistic corkblork of a situation for him, is all I'm sayin'.
