Okay, Wendell and Wild winning for Outstanding Animated Motion Picture at the 54th NAACP Image Awards surprisingly shocked me. Not only did this movie got it's first (and possibly only) award, but it's win actually did something unprecedented. Just check the nominees for The Outstanding Animated Motion Picture category to see what I mean.

Yeah! Wendell and Wild actually beat BOTH GDT's Pinocchio AND Puss in Boots: The Last Wish for Outstanding Animated Motion Picture. The fact that Wendell and Wild was able to beat two critically acclaim films while Wendell and Wild is considered a disappointed (to some people) is straight up baffling, to the point where an article actually said that GDT's Pinocchio was snubbed at the 54th NAACP Image Awards.

All I can say is, Congrats to Wendell and Wild for winning the award. And i'm pretty sure it's win doesn't cause any controversies because it beat GDT's Pinocchio for Outstanding Animated Motion Picture.

Louis Gossett Jr, the first Black man to win a supporting actor Oscar, and an Emmy winner for his role in the seminal TV miniseries Roots, has died. He was 87.
