You know I do wonder if there’s any (or rather how many) sidestep out there who is both in relationship with dr. Mortum and doing the entire love triangle with yourself and ortega thing, mostly because it amuses me to think about all the realizations Ortega has to go through if they ever do find out about the entire puppet situation.

Like first you find out your situationship has been puppeteering a comatose body around ( <- INSANE didn’t know they could do that)

Then you need to not only deal with the fact that they chose to date you while inhabiting said brain dead body, (Even if you can deal with the messed up ethics, what are you even supposed to make of that?) but they were also jealous of themself(themselves?)????

But moving past all that they were also cheating on you the entire time.

"i doubt it." between ortega and the villain gets me every time. the layers to that. bc yes of course ortega knows the MC, at least in identity - but after the last seven years and what the MC has been through, and feeling like they've been left alone, abandoned - they refuse to believe that anybody really ever knew them at all. but the fact that instead of straight up just saying no, they have to say i doubt it. the bitterness of it. the plea behind it. the sliver of the possibility of being wrong.

the way sidestep ortega and chen are forever tied to each other by heartbreak mostly/especially because they cannot talk about it to each other or those who weren't there. the way that dannys feelings reflect a general truth which is that as long as they dont talk about it there will always be a wall between them and everyone else. the way they don't even get the full comfort of the quiet knowledge that at least these two other people know exactly what you went trough due to the telepathic nature of the event. the way we know the least about heartbreak from ortega's perspective who came closest to experiencing it "objectively"

Very important chargestep question: how are they sleeping in the same room together? because ortega needs blinds to sleep and step cant sleep without a nightlight. does ortega sacrifice a good nights rest for sidestep to feel safe. does sidestep feel safe enough to sleep in the dark when theyre in ortegas arms.
