Unsolved Mysteries of Disco
🦋 How in the heck did Disco spore jump without Paul or anyone seeming to be manning any stations but the Captain's chair?
🐝 Why Michael got back together with Book - a man who betrayed her on the day they met, which is forgivable, right, they just met, kiss kiss make up; but then he betrays her, the crew of Discovery, the entirety of the Federation, and the whole rest of the galaxy. Albeit out of grief. Also is it really a good idea to fall in love with the very first person you meet on your one-way trip to the future? There's a whole galaxy out there, Michael!
💖 What *actually* happened to Oros?
🏳️🌈 Did Adira and Grey ever meet again? Or did it kind of dissolve into well-thanks-for-letting-me-transcend-death-is-it-alright-if-we-start-seeing-other-people that quickly?
💐 What *was* Paul's legacy? I love him. I adore him. I wish the show had been about him. Give us a gay captain! I mean, besides Kirk, who is clearly in love with his Number One, Spock.
🙏 Is there a limit to how many Commanders can be on one ship? Or how many Captains can sit in one chair? Ahem might as well ask how many angels can dance on the head of that pin. Thoughts, Aquinas?
🙀 And finally, why didn't we get seven seasons?

/ FOREIGN SYSTEM OVERRIDE DETECTED / / COUNTERMEASURES FAILED / / HOMING ONTO THE INCOMING TRANSMISSION /
Testing reception... 1... 2...
Actually, I think that's no longer necessary, seeing that we are able to penetrate the Matriarchy's frequency cyber-coverage with little difficulty these days.
Start the video feed.
/ INITIATING TRANSMISSION FEED /
Yshiradh, Orassian nation and aliens from the beyond. Broadcasting currently from Libertopia, @union-replicants space. Weather here is lovely with occasional rainfall. A prime time to hit the beach and enjoy the light of the parent sun, since it's predicted to shine bright today, as it is for the Orassian Liberation Front in home space.
This is 'People's News Republic', an independent news agency geared towards unbiased coverage about current events happening in the Orassian space. I'm your hostess, Erhrdra D'Kara, and here are the latest developments.
The liberation forces have made significant advancements in the west of Gaurdis system and have secured ample space and time for the OLF to install a defensive station in the system.
The fight was hard, but the competency of the Liberation Front, and the help lent to them by the aliens not indifferent to our fight for democracy, had pulled them through the struggle. The push is currently moving to Oros and the broken ruins of the homeworld, but the resistance and the presence of the loyalists there is still significant. The potential capture of Orassia is anticipated to improve morale among the fighting forces, and the OLF needs what it can muster to bring an end to one of the only oppressive dictatorships in the Eastern Quadrant.
Among the greatest news today is the complete liberation of the H'Oumukh Region! In their strategic push, and with the aid of many volunteers from other interstellar states, the OLF managed to secure the region and clear it of all presence of loyalists. According to the words of the soldiers, it was "as if the whole comms network of the Matriarchy's forces in H'Oumukh started malfunctioning, which allowed for the offensive to be successful in the first place." It is unknown at the moment who was responsible, but, whoever it may have been, they have just helped to bring the tyranny of the Matriarchy one step closer to its end.
In other news, our news network, with the help of our allies, have reached out to Region of J'Horrim to spread the message of truth. When we heard that they still believe that no civil war is currently happening on their doorstep at all, we were shocked. The propaganda wall of the Matriarchy had certainly worked wonders for them at the time, but not at that moment.
At least some of the citizens in the region got to hear the realities of what was happening, and they would share them with the rest gradually. Our agency certainly received potential points of contact, which we will gladly share with our allies.
We have received word that the OLF is to hold memorials to the fallen soldiers in the capitol city of the region, Atasaŋ. The insurgents have suffered their share of losses they intend not to be forgotten by the fighters. We, the free Orassian people, will keep on pushing against the tyranny of dictatorships, and our promise to never stop fighting will never be broken.
For tonight, this concludes our news coverage. Thank you for listening. This has been 'People's News Republic'.
Truth to the people.
Freedom to the Orassian people.
Peace to the fallen.

HI RESIDENT newbie to fortnite lore can u infodump me the s2c2 and any midas lore im obsessed and need to learn EVERYTHING i can about him immediately. also the big lore post u made was SO SO SO helpful !!!
AYE AYE CAPTAIN!
I'm glad it was helpful! I'm always glad to help out. As always, if you have any other questions? Shoot me an ask :D
Before the days of SHADOW (and Chapter 2), Midas set his sights on building an empire of espionage, intrigue, and conquest. For this he recruited three people with great potential: The Burning Wolf, Chaos Origins (soon to be Chaos Agent) and Sierra to make them his first three Shadow operatives, together they form The First Shadows. Midas' original three operatives are respectively nicknamed Midas' first enforcer, Midas' first redeemed, and Midas' first pardoned.
In a picture in Doctor Slone's office in Corny Complex, a picture of Slone revealing her genius talents to the IO can be shown. In particular, a silhouette strongly resembling Midas (by the clothes and hair) can be seen, hinting he was maybe previously part of the Imagined Order before his arrival in the Loop. That can also explain Midas' mastermind capabilities and how he knows so much about the Island.
Midas also has a unique history prior to even building an empire of espionage, intrigue, and conquest (how he lost his eye, how he got the golden touch, what his true backstory is), but much of it remains to be unrevealed for now.
Chapter 2 Season 1: Midas selects Eye Land for his new base, likely being aware of the Zero Point stationed underneath there.
Before he takes over Eye Land and transforms into the Agency, he touched several items and furniture in the houses, turning them into gold and leaving behind a GHOST folder on the golden toilet.
His golden hand also appears in several trailers for Chapter 2: Season 2. This season is most possibly the time period that takes place when Midas recruits members for SHADOW before GHOST came about.
Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 Storyline:
Following the reconstruction of the island due to The End event of Chapter 1, The first group of E.G.O. members entered The Loop through a Plane that was sent by the Imagined Order. Their mission was to search the reconstructed map and set up a base. They investigated the Loopers while the IO worked secretly to reconstruct the Bridge.
However, a mysterious group named A.L.T.E.R. whose members strangely resemble those of E.G.O. is already present on the island.
(This only applies to some members, since during the season other A.L.T.E.R members appear but do not have alter-egos at E.G.O - get it?).
Throughout Chapter 2: Season 1, a battle occurred between the two factions. Near the very end of the season, Chaos Agent was seen observing the battle in the shadows, soon to be known as the current leader of A.L.T.E.R./SHADOW.
E.G.O. & A.L.T.E.R. are now known as GHOST & SHADOW respectively.
At the very start of Chapter 2: Season 2, Midas activated several sleeper agents within The Loop. These include Lynx, Bushranger, Brutus, (Agent) Peely, and Journey.
Midas forms a group of neutral agents, with unique locations that belong to them. Skye is stationed at The Shark, Brutus and The Grotto, TNTina at The Rig, and Meowscles at The Yacht - alongside an Agency to fight against SHADOW. Him and the other agents being responsible for a location each, while also being a boss there. As time passes, all the agents choose a faction (SHADOW/GHOST), and their locations change with them. After Meowscles betrays GHOST and joins SHADOW, Contract Giller infiltrates The Yacht, and allows Deadpool to take over as a GHOST agent. Members of the X-Force would then arrive at Apollo.
Throughout the season, he slowly worked on a Device alongside his daughter Jules to destroy The Storm which was spotted in his room, directly underneath the Agency and possibly right above the Zero Point. In his room, a journal containing a drawing of Oro's scepter was there, possibly meaning that his golden touch has something to do with Oro and his scepter.
A suit similar to that of Tempest's was also spotted in the room. The suit was later used by Midas to harness the power of the Storm. Countdowns for the activation of his Device also appeared in the Agency and in his own room.
The Device was hidden underneath the main building of The Agency itself, while the pylons were underneath five newly-built hatches under the water surrounding The Agency.
Midas wanted to destroy The Storm, which would subsequently break The Loop and escape it.
Midas' project was going directly against the Imagined Order, who wanted to preserve The Loop and keep it running.
Near the very end of the season, Midas began charging the orb machine. The Device went through three stages. Initially, a bright yellow 'core' appeared within the orb, consisting of pure energy. Next, tendril-like structures were emitted from the core, slamming into the outer glass of the orb. At the final stage, the core grew bigger and brighter, and the tendrils grew larger and stronger.
At this point, some of the tendrils managed to breach the outer casing, although they were channeled and rerouted back into the orb.
While this happened, No Sweat Insurance built themselves a new office in Lazy Lake and insured Pleasant Park, Sweaty Sands, Frenzy Farm, and Holly Hedges against a flood scenario, with dozens of No Sweat Insurance signs being placed on those POIs.
The Device
On June 13th, the countdown for Midas' plan appeared above The Agency.
When the countdown for The Device event reached zero, the storm had already closed in around The Agency during the later stages of a particular loop.
Five pylons emerged from the five hatches surrounding the Agency. Once the five pylons completely rose out of the hatches, an energised bubble appeared around The Agency, which violently contracted and exploded, completely decimating The Agency.
As the dust settled, The orb machine emerged from the ruins of The Agency. It rose high up on an elevated platform and stopped once it reached a high height. This was followed by a large shockwave, causing all the loopers to levitate into the air. The Device activated, and the orb machine hooked up to the five pylons using energy beams.
Then, the pylons collectively hit The Storm barrier and started to push it back. This seemingly contradicted the structure of a normal loop, in which the storm closes in until the entire island is consumed.
In this case, the storm was being pushed back, which partially damaged The Loop, transporting a particular looper to The Bridge, located outside The Loop.
Inside The Bridge, the looper was spawned in Agent Jones' office, containing a desk, computer, and three filed labeled 'TOP SECRET', containing the images of Midas, Lynx, and Jules. The Looper did not spend a long time in Jones' office though, and soon, the loop seemingly repaired itself and returned The Looper back to the island.
Back at The Agency, the device seemed to have malfunctioned, as the energy supplied by the orb to the pylons diminished with every second. Eventually, the orb machine completely switched off, but not before seemingly breaking the storm barrier.
Without the barrier and nothing to stop it, The Storm began to rapidly close in on The Agency, threatening to kill everyone there.
However, right before The Agency was swallowed, the orb machine rebooted, quickly hooking up to the pylons and slamming the storm once again.
This action restarted the storm barrier, and the machine began to push back at The Storm once again. However, this time, The Storm resisted and closed in on The Agency. In the ensuing battle between Device and Storm, The Device emerged victorious, and The Storm was quickly pushed back before it completely vanished.
As the pylons began retracting back into their hatches, The Loop started to collapse. A single bolt of energy slammed into the orb machine from the sky, disabling and rendering it unusable.
The orb machine then proceeded to retract back down underneath the destroyed Agency, as the loop collapsed and returned that particular looper to Jones' office.
There, Agent Jones could be heard talking in the hallway outside about the problem facing The Imagined Order. Jones could be heard saying;
''(to phone) Uh no. E-everything is NOT stable over here. We are act- (to Janice) Uh, Janice! Janice! Uh, dial the Resonance Actuator to 7.2. Now, please. Yes! Right now." Janice replies "I'm on it!" Through the closed curtains, Janice could be seen rushing down the hallway towards the presumed 'Resonance Actuator', one of the devices that is likely used to control The Storm.
Jonesy starts talking to his phone again after hearing something from the other end.
"(to phone) Wait, wait, wait, wait. Hold on, hold on... "It's not just a storm?" What does that mean? Must be connected to the loop, but there's no way that we could have predicted that it would react THIS way. At this-".
Jones has just found out that The Storm is not simply a storm, as The Loop depends upon it to function. He appears to have been stunned that The Loop completely collapsed in the storm's absence and that they had not predicted that kind of event. However, the above conversation is not finished as the looper is transported back to the island.
Upon return, it is revealed that The Storm reacted to Midas trying to destroy it, creating a giant tsunami, held by the barrier of the Storm.
"(to phone) And that worked? How long do you think it'll hold?"
That brief conversation suggests that The Imagined Order managed to contain the wall of water for some time. Jones asks how long the storm barrier will hold before it fails and unleashes the wall of water onto the island.
After getting an unknown answer, Jones states that everything is starting to stabilize, and enters his office.
He is stunned to see The Looper, and asks whether they can hear him or not, as it seems like a Looper has never managed to break out of The Loop and enter The Bridge without traveling through The Zero Point.
Before The Looper could reply, they are transported back to the island in the battle bus, as the loop reset is now complete. With the battle bus flying towards the center of the island with the now destroyed The Agency
After the Device live event, Midas shows his true affiliation with SHADOW (it is later revealed that he is the founder as well as the true leader of SHADOW), he likely handed over The Agency to Jules to turn into SHADOW's new HQ as anything related to GHOST/EGO is removed from the location.
SHADOW seized the opportunity and takes over The Agency ruins, removing all E.G.O flags and placing their own. SHADOW henchmen now patrol the area instead of the usual GHOST henchmen.
Device TLDR: When his device was activated on June 15, 2020, his voice and several other henchmen's voices could be heard. Midas successfully rose the Device up from his underground base. The Device's plan, unfortunately, failed, turning the Storm into a giant Wall of Water instead of destroying the loop as he planned. While trying to repel the storm, the loop destabilized several times. However, during the event, files of him, Jules, and Lynx were spotted in Agent Jones' office, meaning that they had been investigating him for a while.
You can see a replay of The Device event below, I personally prefer it since it's more cinematic. But there are plenty of other videos of the event!

Midas's Stolen Chair
In Chapter 2: Season 2, in the meeting room of The Agency, Midas had a chair that stood out. It was made of gold, which made it desirable to some.
Eventually, a thief, or a group of thieves, (possibly siding with SHADOW) broke into The Agency and stole the golden chair. It appeared that there was a full plan set up to steal the chair.
Interestingly enough, no other chairs appeared golden in the agency after the only golden chair was stolen. Over the course of weeks, once it was stolen from the meeting room, it was taken to a boat the thieves had likely rowed to the island with.
The thieves then rowed west where a truck would be waiting, housing stolen rope from The Yacht. Once the chair made it to the truck, it reappeared later in Salty Springs and was hidden inside the blue building, with the rope being placed near the top of the staircase, and Midas' chair replacing an old desk chair with it.
The thieves also appeared to have removed a GHOST recruitment poster off the wall in the process and threw it into the trash. Unexpectedly, the golden chair must have been so heavy, as it crashed through the ground and onto the bottom floor, creating a large mess. In the end, the blue house was repaired, but the golden chair was put away into a storage boat that would soon float around the island.
However, the gold chair was eventually found again in Chapter 2: Season 3. It could have been found inside No Sweat Storage, but was later in the custody of SHADOW after the storage boat went away from the island.
Soon, it became a key part of the return of Midas in Chapter 2: Season 4, as a ritual occurred on the top floor of The Authority.
A shrine was made to honor Midas, and appeared to have been used in a resurrection or summoning of sorts. This shrine had originally meant to honor Brutus by having his helmet as well as images of him set up, but was now also honoring Midas using his chair.
The shrine exploded and in the aftermath, a dark form of Midas appeared, called Shadow Midas.
After Fortnitemares 2020: Midas' Revenge, Midas' golden chair suddenly went missing. Again. At first, it was unknown who or what may have taken it until it was later found out that the valuable golden chair was secretly taken by The Imagined Order beneath the island.
Their intentions with the chair are unknown. Occasionally, the chair could have been seen in an IO Elevator during Chapter 2: Season 5, which rose from under the ground and had a chance of housing Midas' Chair. The Golden Chair reappeared in Cuddle Cruisers, alongside the plans used for the Doomsday Device built by Midas.
After C2 S2/3/4, Midas never made an exact "super duper" lore-important appearance, even in Fortnitemares 2020 and his various snapshots (Midsummer, icebound, Golden Gear, Rex, Shadow - not in order) Apart from mentions from Marigold, Jules a short appearance in The Batman comic, a trailer, and golden objects that were presumed to be teasers of his return.
Also, I forgot to mention this in my original lore dump post for you but in The First Shadows trailer; Yes, this is Midas's voice. You may now swoon.
Placed during C2S8, Midas' original three operatives reappear after being hidden for a long time. Midas narrates the first animated comic series for the Fortnite Crew, this being for The Burning Wolf. The Burning Wolf Trailer also reveals that Midas is in fact the one who formed SHADOW. Midas is shown once again as SHADOW in the Chaos Origins trailer, this time with SHADOW Henchmen by his side at Hydro 16. However, it is difficult to know when the events of this trailer take place.
youtube
youtube
In C2S2, In Midas' cutscene and room, several golden heads of characters from the Island could be seen, and a few statues of characters could be seen and Midas was seen having defeated the Black Knight and placing his golden helmet on his wall. Interestingly enough, Chaos Agent's mask was on the wall, which leaves many questions as to the fate of SHADOW.
In the Chapter 2: Season 3 trailer, Midas was eaten by a Loot Shark. Many assumed that this was "the end of Midas" and the death of him, but that is not the case as Donald Mustard confirmed he was "in the loop" when that occurred, therefore not permanently killing him.
In C2S5, Marigold arrived on the Island. Just like Midas, she is cursed with the Golden Touch. In her quests, she mentions that someone is "spending Midas' gold" and her pickaxe description mentions that her daggers are a treasured gift from Midas, hinting they have a positive relationship with each other. This is further evidenced by how The Yacht was named "Marigold", linking the connection between the two even further.
In Chapter 3; Many traces of Midas's whearabouts could be found on the island. The golden items in Cuddle Cruisers restaurant, The golden pillows at The Joneses (😏) and the secret hideout inside the walls of Covert Cavern with the golden llama. Golden Look Board's description suggests that he is watching from the shadows. In each teaser trailer for Chapter 3: Season 4, a golden object could be seen in the background - many assumed this would be the return of Midas, to be the one to stop the Chrome once and for all! But that never happened.

FLASH REPORT THIS MORNING: Calambanon Radio Announcer 'DJ Johnny Walker' gunned down from an Unnamed Suspect during an Online TeleRadyo Broadcast of Gold FM (updated as final!!!)
(with reports from 106.1mhz's FMR Babe Radio: Dipolog and DWPM-AM's Radyo 630: Manila)
CALAMBA, MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL -- In a shocking and tragic incident that is recently unfolded in the morning on Sunday (November 5th, 2023 – Calamba local time)… Juan Jerrebel Anggoy Jumalon, popularly known as “DJ Johnny Walker”, a 57 y/o part-time hard-hitting local radio announcer and Disc Jockey [born on August 2nd, 1966], morning radio host and on-board provincial station manager of 94.7mhz’s Gold FM: Calamba was shot dead inside on his own home radio booth at Purok 2, Brgy. Don Bernardo A. Neri, Calamba, Misamis Occidental during an exclusive Facebook live video broadcast of his local morning radio program 'Pahapyod sa Kabuntagon’ (Early Morning). This devastating event has sent shockwaves throughout the local Calambanon community and the radio broadcasting industry in Misamis Occidental.
DJ Johnny Walker, a beloved not-so-fictional figure in the local radio scene, was a prominent personality on 94.7 Gold FM: Calamba. His real name “Juan Jerrebel Anggoy Jumalon”, was known to very few as he went by his radio alias, which had become synonymous with the morning airwaves. More than several years or decades of experience in radio broadcasting, Mr. Jumalon had become an integral part of the local community, providing entertainment, information and a sense of connection to his listeners each day.
94.7 Gold FM: Calamba is an affiliated local FM radio station of the Kalayaan Broadcasting System Inc. (KBSi), and DJ Johnny Walker played a pivotal role in its success. His morning radio program, 'Pahapyod sa Kabuntagon’ was not only known for its entertaining content but also for its community engagement, discussing local & regional issues in Misamis Occidental, and bringing the community together through various interactive segments. This made Mr. Jumalon, a cherished figure among his listeners and colleagues.
In 2014, his personal broadcasting setup of the aforesaid local FM radio station within a decade before the male suspect gunned down to Mr. Jumalon during an exclusive televised interview of DXTE-TV 8's TV5: Cagayan de Oro for News 5. What were the prerequisites for the first immigration of Rubio's ancestors to Cuba can be traced using the example of a man named Blas Roca. After which the mechanism of the second emigration of the same ancestors will become clear.
Blas Roca (real name - Francisco Wilfredo Calderío, July 24, 1908, Manzanillo, Granma - April 26, 1987, Havana) - Cuban politician. Staunch supporter of Fuljencio Batista. Hero of Labor of the Republic of Cuba (1983).
In 1934-1939 - General Secretary of the Communist Party of Cuba, in 1939-1944 - General Secretary of the Revolutionary Communist Union, created as a result of the unification of the Communist Party and the Revolutionary Union; after the renaming of the Revolutionary Communist Union into the People's Socialist Party (1944) in 1944-1961 - General Secretary of the People's Socialist Party. In 1935 - delegate to the VII Congress of the Comintern , in 1935-1943 - candidate for membership in the ECCI . In 1940-1948 and 1950-1954 - deputy of the Congress of Cuba.
In 1961 he was forced to abandon CP and join Castro's United Revolutionary Organizations of Cuba (ORO). Since 1962 - member of the Secretariat of the National Leadership of the ORO and director of the newspaper "Noticias de Hoy". When Castro reinstated CP in 1965 - he became member of the Secretariat of the Central Committee and chairman of the Constitutional Commission of the Central Committee of the CPC. In 1965-1981 - chairman of the National Assembly of People's Power, deputy chairman of the State Council since 1976. Since 1975 - member of the Politburo of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba.
An alliance with the Batista forces led to the legalization of the communist-led Confederation of Cuban Workers (CTC), the party daily newspaper Hoy and the party itself, then known as the Unión Revolucionaria Comunista (Revolutionary Communist Union). The alliance continued into the Constituent Assembly elections of 1939 in which the communists elected 6 delegates, led by Roca and Juan Marinello. Roca would serve 12 years in the legislature. The resulting Cuban Constitution of 1940, with Blas Roca as one of the signers, embodied many progressive and socialist provisions. In the following presidential election, the communists supported Batista's candidacy as part of his Democratic Socialist Coalition. Years later, when Batista accused Fidel Castro's revolutionaries of being communist-led, Castro reminded readers of the magazine Bohemia that Batista had been endorsed by the communists in 1940 and that former party members were then serving in the Batista government.
During World War II, two communists served in Batista's war-time cabinet as ministers without portfolio, Carlos Rafael Rodriguez and Juan Marinello, both of whom would later serve in top positions under Fidel Castro. The party operated a popular radio station, Radio Mil Diez, and membership was in the tens of thousands.
After Fidel Castro's July 26, 1953 attack on the Moncada army barracks, the Cuban communists condemned the attack as a "putsch" which did not involve mass struggle.
At the time of the Moncada attack, party leaders were involved in a clandestine conference in Santiago and were also celebrating Roca's birthday (July 24). Batista quickly blamed the communist party for the "criminal incident."
As the party's ability to operate openly was blocked, key leaders began to rethink their attitude towards Fidel Castro's 26th of July Movement and the strategy of armed struggle. During the 1950s, the party went underground, and Blas Roca spent a year living in China in 1955-1956. Returning to Cuba with the victory of the revolution, Roca reorganized the party and firmly reoriented it under the leadership of Castro.

Selling their most requested buko juice for just 10 pesos per cup, they have their own special branding. They carry all legal papers that could be needed. Big competitors are nearby the Divisoria area where other vendors also sell buko juice. Basically their main revenue stream is beverages and more so beverages that include coffee. They have many competitors in their area since majority of the pabayo st is composed of coffe/milktea shop. They also have the legal documents though as much as I would have loved to take a picture of it, I couldn’t. The manager said their branch opened in 2019 and mainly focuses on beauty products and services. They believe their business stands out because they offer high-quality products and great service, with customers being satisfied. Their main competitors are beauty stations, and they often serve local politicians like mayors from Villanueva. They build trust with their customers by listening to their needs and making them feel comfortable.
They handle their transactions manually without using any apps or systems. They deal with customer feedback and issues calmly, aiming to be professional in their work. Their business strategy involves posting online to attract customers, with a focus on meeting customer needs by providing good service. She also mentioned that having a good image is key to attracting more customers.
Far East Medical
The branch, which opened on March 23, 2017, mainly sells products like wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, scooters, and other medical equipment. Their main customers are elderly people and some with disabilities. The business stands out by offering lifetime services and free labor, which has helped build strong customer loyalty. As a result, their sales increase, especially during the "ber" months (September to December). Their main goal is to meet their sales targets each month.
Their marketing strategy involves promoting their business and services on social media. They use an app called StoreHub for daily transactions. One of their biggest challenges is running out of stock on products that customers are looking for. The manager mentioned that patience is key in this kind of business since you won't always have customers all the time.
Hannah's Cake Decors and Party Needs
Their branch opened in 2021, focusing mainly on party decorations like balloons and birthday candles. They also offer cake decorations for events like birthdays and weddings. The branch manager believes their products are unique and high quality, making them better than similar stores. Their main customers are children, party organizers, and decorators.
We noticed that they also sell toys for children, which make great gifts. The manager mentioned that sales increase a lot during the "ber" months due to higher demand for party supplies. Their main goal is to meet their sales target every month.
Father and Son's Music
The manager mentioned that their business has been running for almost 7 years, with the branch in SM being open for around 2 years. They mainly teach music, including vocals and instruments, and their main customers are children and people with mental health challenges. They believe music has the power to heal, which is why they love their job – it allows them to help others through music.
The manager believes in personal growth for both students and teachers, as they can learn from each other. They emphasize that music can be profitable and often highlight their musicians. They want to convey the message that music can do more than just entertain; it can resonate with people. Many customers or students have stories they struggle to express, so they are motivated to teach music to inspire others and help them improve their lives.

Cagayan de Oro Business Spotlight: Insider Insights from Local Entrepreneurs (Part 3)
Welcome to my 5th blog, where I dive into the inspiring stories behind local businesses. Join me as we uncover their unique strategies, insights, and the heart they put into their work.
Father & Son's Music:
Father and Son Music has been in business for almost seven years, offering music recitals exclusively in SM. Their current branch has been open for two years. This music school provides tutorials that not only teach, but also serve as an escape or therapy for people dealing with depression or special needs. What’s cool is that they don’t have any direct competition in their area. They’ve developed their own curriculum, and all the teachers are fully qualified, making sure they know their students well enough to offer the right kind of guidance.
Their typical students range from preschoolers to college students, even including homeschooled kids and those outside the country. But they’re flexible too, offering their services to people of all ages, including professionals. To win customer loyalty, they pour their hearts into the business. They’re not in it just for profit, they genuinely believe that music is essential for the community. Their focus is on helping students grow and develop a real love for music.
The manager shared how fortunate they are to have retained customers who love their services, regardless of the time of year. Their current goal is to raise awareness in the community about how musicians pour their hearts into their work and deserve recognition. They also want to debunk the old stereotype that musicians can’t make a living. As they put it, "Music isn't just about impressing people, it’s about touching their hearts." Everyone has their own reason for learning music, and they want to be the bridge to their students’ dreams and hobbies.
When it comes to resolving issues, they handle everything with care and kindness. They stay ahead of the curve through innovation, and their greatest achievement? Earning the trust of their students and customers, especially when it comes to musical progress. The manager also gave a piece of advice: "Put your heart into your work, not just into marketing. Understand your people and make a real impact on their lives."
Hannah's Cake Decors and Party Needs:
Hannah’s are specializing in party decorations and cake decors. Interestingly, they don’t have any direct competitors in SM Downtown, and they stand out because of the quality of their products. Their regular customers include children, students, and parents. Their sales typically peak during Christmas and whenever SM has a sale. If any customer complaints arise, their manager personally handles them. To keep up with market trends, they continuously modernize their product designs, making them more appealing, especially to kids.
Far East Medical:
Far East Medical opened its doors in March 2017. Their main products are wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, and scooters. With no direct competitors, they stand out by offering lifetime service with free labor, which keeps their customers coming back. Their primary customers are senior citizens and people with disabilities (PWD). One of their biggest challenges is running out of stock for specific items customers need. Their peak season is typically during the “ber” months. Their goals? To hit their sales quota and continue promoting their business on social media.
They use Store Hub for their daily operations and regularly order new, durable equipment to stay competitive. Their proudest achievement is making seniors’ lives better. The manager shared a helpful piece of advice: “Running a business like this requires a lot of patience because sales won’t be high every single day.”
DeoGlow:
DeoGlow, which opened in 2019, offers beauty products and services. Their main competitor is Skin Station, but they stand out through their personalized services and the beauty of their staff.
One of their most notable customers is the Mayor of Villanueva. They maintain customer loyalty by always offering a warm, welcoming atmosphere—complete with big smiles—and engaging customers in friendly conversations.
Their biggest challenge is hitting their sales quota, but they’re lucky to have loyal customers who help them peak every month. One of their strategies is offering promotions, like dropping the price of a service from ₱27,000 to ₱10,000. While they don’t use any automated systems, they do manual accounting for sales. When it comes to employee feedback, the manager listens and promotes teamwork. As for customer complaints, they handle them humbly and try to understand the customer's side.
The manager’s advice to others in the business? “Even if you're having a bad day, just smile and stay positive.”
Better Components:
Better Components, which opened in May 2017, sells musical instruments, speakers, and more. Their typical customers include barangay personnel and school staff. They keep customers coming back by building strong relationships and offering high-quality products. Their biggest challenge so far has been bouncing back after the pandemic and meeting their sales quotas. Their sales peak during Christmas and summer, thanks to promotions.
They’ve got a marketing team, and they track success based on sales targets. Their operations are managed through an inventory warehouse system connected to their finance department. New employees undergo an orientation and training period. When it comes to handling feedback, the manager emphasizes not being bossy. Customer complaints are approached calmly to avoid escalation.
To stay competitive, they offer promotions even when profits aren’t the main focus, and they promote heavily online. Their greatest achievement has been meeting their sales targets. The manager’s advice:
“Don’t be a bossy leader—encourage teamwork to keep everything running smoothly.”
Stay tune for the part 3.1 which are about the insights!

Avocalicious is a local business in Cagayan de Oro, specializing in avocado-based desserts, particularly their signature AvocaMango ice cream. Launched in 2022 by Jimmy Inshong, the shop emphasizes the use of real fruits to create healthy and delicious treats, catering especially to health-conscious customers, including mothers and the elderly. The shop has gained popularity for its unique offerings and is frequently featured at local events like the Higalaay Food Fair and various bazaars, where they showcase their delicious ice creams and shakes. Avocalicious is committed to authenticity and quality, making it a beloved spot for those seeking a delightful and nutritious dessert experience. Their engaging social media presence highlights customer appreciation and community support, further strengthen their reputation as a must-visit destination for avocado lovers like me. From an online store that Rica Patricia started when the pandemic hit the country in 2020, Healthy Basket CDO has grown to a fully-fledged business recognized today with permanent mall locations at Ayala Centrio, SM CDO Downtown, and Limketkai Mall. Selling fresh and good quality strawberries sourced from Baguio, the business covers the needs for strawberries of retail customers and those by local establishments such as bakeries and cafes effectively. From being a virtual delivery store on Facebook and Tiktok to a pop-up booth to setting up mall kiosks, this case underlines the need to understand and move along with the target market. In addition, the shop's engaging social media facility seals its position as an efficient supplier and also ensures that comprehensive means enhance customer satisfaction and business development.
Horikohi Café is a coffee shop owned by Jennifer and Benedict Ty, originally established in Laguindingan. The café has successfully expanded its reach with a pop-up booth at SM Downtown, strategically caters young adults and students. Its success comes from its welcoming atmosphere and a menu tailored to the tastes of young customers. The owners are currently planning to launch additional pop-up booths to further enhance their presence and accessibility soon. Its commitment to creating a community-focused environment is shown in its ongoing efforts to engage with customers and adapt to their customer’s preferences. Twin Drops Water Refilling Station, owned by Daphne Belle Maape, was established in 2022. The business initially faced challenges related to water supply and uncooperative staffing but has since persevered to provide a diverse range of water options to the community. Daphne, the owner, decides to keep the business running smoothly, hires new staffs and considers her employees as family members. She created a friendly atmosphere in the workplace. The business continues to flourish today as proof that, in any obstacle within its operational capacity, persistence and innovative problem-solving techniques are the keys. Twin Drops Company is an example of being dedicated to providing quality service and catering to the needs of the community to ensure success even in the most competitive market. Shek Coffee Shop is owned by Jeffrey Cabañeros and opened on May 14, 2024, along Tiano-Del Pilar Street, Cagayan de Oro. It is a building with two businesses owned by the CEO and his wife comes from a travel agency meeting room and a coffee shop in one, serving a number of students and workers who would want to stay out of their comfortable getaway. Because of the homey atmosphere and very diverse menu, the shop instantly became a favorite, especially its price and its menu items called Dragon Fruit Matcha and Frappe Series. It all started with 2 employees who worked their best to grow the shop. Its success, despite its small size and crowding at times, underlines the need to create a friendly space and be responsive to customer preferences. Besides, it offers delivery via Grab or Maxim for more convenience, showing how growth could be furthered by adapting to customer needs and continuing to keep the flow of business running.

BALITANG NASYONAL: Neo Retro's final broadcast set as Radyo5 True FM moves from 92.3 to 105.9 in a new frequency swap to FMR 92.3 in Manila [#OneNETnewsEXCLUSIVE]
MANDALUYONG, NATIONAL CAPITAL REGION -- Nation Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) officially announcing the frequency change as DWFM-FM 92.3mhz's True FM: Manila moves to 105.9, leaving DWLA-FM's Neo Retro 105.9 will no longer broadcasting their airwaves from Las Piñas in the National Capital Region under Bright Star Broadcasting Network Corporation (BSBNC). While 'Favorite Music Radio' (simply known as 'FM Radio') under Philippine Collective Media Corporation (PCMC) won't push through for 101.9mhz. Instead, they will put a new frequency of 92.3mhz in the FM dial, which became the possible main flagship station in Metro and Mega Manila.
For those don't know about the big 3 FM radio stations… DWFM-FM (known today as True FM), is a radio station in Manila that has undergone several format changes since its inception. It originally launched on mid-February 1973 as MRS 92.3 (Most Requested Songs), playing the most requested songs every hour. Over the years, it has rebranded multiple times, including stints as 'Joey @ Rhythms 92.3' and XFM (where it was not pre-affiliated to Y2H Broadcasting Network [YBN] in late February 2022). In November 2010, it transitioned to an all-news format as 'Radyo5 92.3 News FM', becoming the only flagship station for the Radyo 5 network.
DWLA-FM (branded as Neo Retro 105.9) is a radio station in 'Las Piñas, NCR' that began broadcasting on April 1st, 1992. Initially known as LA 105.9, it played a modern rock format. The station has undergone several rebrands, including WLA (We Love Adventure), Blazin' 105.9, and Retro 105.9. On December 2019, it rebranded to this said current FM radio station name, focusing on both adult and classic hits.
And, Favorite Music Radio (FMR) is a nationwide FM radio network operated by the 'Philippine Collective Media Corporation' (PCMC). The network was launched on late-February 2020, with its flagship station DYDR-FM in Tacloban. FMR focuses on contemporary MOR (Middle of the Road) and news talk formats. It was previously known locally as 100.7 Thunder FM in late-April 2011. PCMC was founded on late-May 2008, and initially operated in the Eastern Visayas region before expanding nationwide such as Maasin, Cebu, Bacolod, and soon launching here in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental.
By next Sunday night before switching frequencies on November 3rd, 2024… The final broadcasts on 92.3 True FM is 'True Love Songs' at 9pm, while Neo Retro 105.9 wraps up to 'Smooth Rhythms' at 8pm. And, if you're listening on the FMR Philippine app for FM Radio Manila, there will be music automation until the first radio programme on free radio at 92.3 FM, the next day in the early morning hours by Monday (November 4th).
A pending approval of the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) will give potentially new call sign or retaining the callsign name in the coming weeks for Favorite Music Radio (FMR) in Metro and Mega Manila. In the meantime, NBC and PCMC will enter into a blocktime and content licensing agreement for use of the 92.3mhz frequency, immediately following after the actual switchover.
True FM serves its nationwide reach on the main flagship station at 105.9 in Metro Manila, 99.9 in Ormoc, DYFM-FM 101.9 in Cebu, DXRL-FM 101.5 in Cagayan de Oro and DXET-FM 106.7 in Davao (after rebranding from Radyo Digoseño). They also launching its own new pay-TV channel for Cignal TV and SatLite subscribers called 'True TV' on Channel 19. Neo Retro had sadly come to an end next week for BSBNC for unknown reasons. The effectivity of acquisition begins simultaneously on November 4th.

Five Insights for Business Journeys and Success
''The next Bill Gates will not build an operating system. The next Larry Page or Sergey Brin won’t make a search engine. If you are copying these guys, you aren’t learning from them." - Peter Thiel co-founder of PayPal
Last week, we interviewed five local businesses, each with a unique story filled with challenges, setbacks, and successes. These entrepreneurs opened up about their journeys, sharing the lessons they've learned and the strategies that have helped them grow. In this blog, we’ll explore their experiences and the insights they offer on navigating today’s competitive business landscape.
Twind Drops Refilling Station
Mabini Burgos Street (0953 265 6554)
The station provides filtered, mineral, and alkaline alternatives among its selection of pure water. In addition, they satisfy the demands of both consumers and companies by providing convenient and eco-friendly water delivery services. The station offers a variety of pure water options, including filtered, mineral, and alkaline options. Furthermore, they fulfill the needs of businesses and customers by offering practical water supply services. The owner of this water refill station is Dapne Belle Maape. The COVID-19 pandemic prevented them from opening their refilling station, even though they opened in 2019. Consequently, on August 8, 2022, they reopened and have been providing services to the community ever since. At first, they struggle because of a shortage of water supplies and difficult staff members who, for example, don't give the cashier the correct amount of money. Because of the employers' integrity, they rehired every employee, and as a result, they are currently expanding quickly and now have a water source from the water district.
Shek Coffee Shop
This coffee business was founded by James Cabaneros, who is always holding meetings. The shop opened on May 14, 2024, on Del Pilar Street in Cagayan de Oro City. We only had the opportunity to interview the barista, who was also the first employee of the coffee shop. The coffee shop was built because the owner planned to run a travel agency and use the coffee shop to meet with clients. The barista mentioned that their biggest customer is students and individuals who work with computers frequently go to their coffee shop because of the free wifi and nice setting for studying and working, and the coffee is great, especially the Spanish coffee.
Healthy Basket CDO
Rica Patricia, a resident of Agora, Cagayan de Oro City, started this shop. This shop opened in 2020 as an online store on their Facebook page, but as their business grew, in 2024 they opened a pop-up location in a mall. Their major products are Baguio strawberries and strawberries covered in chocolate and marshmallow. Their biggest customers are the elderly and students, who receive senior and student discounts. They also provide a discount to anyone who follows their Facebook page; it's essentially free advertising.
Avocalicious
The name Avocalicious is derived from the words "avocado and delicious," highlighting the company's core product, avocado. Jimmy Inshong and his husband's cousin opened this shop on June 1, 2022. They established the firm to sell homemade ice cream and avocados with an expected budget of $100,000. They sell fresh avocado fruit shakes rather than processed ones such as powder. We interviewed their employee, who is a relative; she claimed that their main customers are the elderly and middle-aged and that students rarely purchase their products. The business ambiance is truly all about avocados because of the greenery of the site; they are located in malls and intend to spread around the city.
Horikohi Cafe
Horikori Cafe is owned by Jennifer and Benedict, however it is a family business, therefore their son runs it and their siblings work as baristas. Their initial location is on Laguindingan and opened in May 2022; they have two pop-up branches here in CDO, one of which we had the opportunity to interview; this business opened in the mall in 2023 as a result of an invitation to a pop-up event at SM Downtown. They stated that the majority of the customers are students from USTP and other universities. Both owners are present at the coffee shop, however they allowed us to interview their son. While we were interviewing, the mother recorded a video of us encouraging their son to its business.
