Erewhon, 26767 Agoura Rd, Calabasas, CA 91302
Tumblr media
The Calabasas Erewhon opened in 2014, so it’s one of the older locations. It doesn’t look quite as nice as the newer locations but it has similar merchandise and the same coffee/smoothies/tonic bar, brick oven pizza (available by the slice or a whole pizza), prepared foods/deli, hot soup, and their own line of candles, skin care, bottled water, etc. They make their own juices, wellness shots, soups, dressings, bread, bagels, etc. In the prepared foods area they have grab and go items like prepackaged salads, sushi, desserts, dips, sides, sandwiches, quesadillas, burritos, etc. The food they prepare is generally quite good (and expensive), plus they accommodate all kinds of dietary restrictions.
Erewhon is a Certified B corporation and certified organic retailer. They only carry products that are “free from artificial preservatives, synthetic pesticides, ripening agents, growth hormones, irradiation, fumigants, fungicides or other additives. Any processing, packaging or transportation and storing must also ensure the retention of maximum nutritional value.” The produce looks immaculate and the cut flowers are gorgeous.
I noticed the smoothies and acai bowls didn’t have prices posted. The markup is quite high on a lot of items. For example, they charge $19.99 for a bag of my favorite granola from Sconeage. Sconeage charges $11 - $12 a bag and they’ll ship. They charge $3.99 for Culina Yogurt (vs. $3.39 at Whole Foods). They do have some sales and some things you can’t find elsewhere (e.g., Creamsicle flavored Coconut Cult yogurt is only available at Erewhon).
Service wasn’t as friendly as the other locations for some reason.
My picks:
Organic carrot ginger soup ($5): 8 oz, smooth, sweet, very good – from the hot soup bar
Souzai-ya bento box (vegan): Brown rice, lotus root, battered cauliflower, tofu fritter – this was okay, not as good as the items Erewhon makes
Something & Nothing hibiscus & rose seltzer ($2.49): Lightly sweet, interesting flavors
They have outdoor and indoor seating. The outdoor seating area has a nice view of the mountains. Members can save if they spend a lot at Erewhon. Erewhon is in a small shopping center.

The Top 10 Foods You Should Always Buy Organic
Eating a healthy diet is important for maintaining good health, but it's not just about what you eat, it's also about how it's grown. That's why eating organic food has become increasingly popular in recent years, as more people become aware of the potential health risks associated with consuming food grown using synthetic pesticides, fertilizers, and other chemicals. While buying organic food can be more expensive than conventional food, the benefits of choosing organic are many. Here are the top 10 categories of foods that you should always buy organic:
1- Fruits
Many fruits are sprayed with pesticides to protect them from pests and diseases, but these chemicals can be harmful to human health. Choosing organic fruits ensures that you are getting the benefits of these nutritious foods without any harmful chemicals. Some of the most commonly consumed organic fruits include berries, apples, oranges, bananas, and grapes.
2- Vegetables
Like fruits, many vegetables are also sprayed with pesticides. Organic vegetables are grown without these chemicals, which means that you can enjoy the full nutritional benefits of these foods without any added risks. Some of the most popular organic vegetables include leafy greens, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, and sweet potatoes which you can buy from Organic Vegetable Store.
When buying organic fruits and vegetables, it's important to choose a variety of different types. Some fruits and vegetables are more likely to be contaminated with pesticides than others. For example, the Environmental Working Group (EWG) has identified the "Dirty Dozen" - a list of the fruits and vegetables that are most likely to be contaminated with pesticides. These include strawberries, spinach, kale, nectarines, apples, grapes, peaches, cherries, pears, tomatoes, celery, and potatoes. By choosing to buy these fruits and vegetables organic, you can reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals.
3- Meat
Organic meat is raised without antibiotics or growth hormones, which can be harmful to human health. Additionally, organic meat is often grass-fed, which means that the animals are raised on a natural diet that is free from genetically modified organisms (GMOs). Some of the most popular organic meats include beef, chicken, pork, and turkey.
4- Dairy
Like meat, organic dairy products are produced without antibiotics or growth hormones. Additionally, organic dairy cows are often fed a natural diet that is free from GMOs and other harmful chemicals. Some of the most commonly consumed organic dairy products include milk, cheese, and yogurt.
5- Grains
Organic grains are grown without synthetic fertilizers or pesticides, which means that they are free from harmful chemicals. Some of the most commonly consumed organic grains include rice, quinoa, oats, and wheat.
6- Eggs
Organic eggs come from chickens that are raised without antibiotics or growth hormones. Additionally, these chickens are often fed a natural diet that is free from GMOs and other harmful chemicals. Choosing organic eggs ensures that you are getting the full nutritional benefits of this healthy food without any added risks.
7- Nuts and Seeds
Many nuts and seeds are sprayed with pesticides to protect them from pests and diseases. Choosing organic nuts and seeds ensures that you are getting the full nutritional benefits of these healthy foods without any added risks. Some of the most commonly consumed organic nuts and seeds include almonds, cashews, chia seeds, and flax seeds.
8- Baby Food
Babies are particularly vulnerable to the harmful effects of pesticides and other chemicals. Choosing organic baby food ensures that your baby is getting the full nutritional benefits of these healthy foods without any added risks. Some of the most commonly consumed organic baby foods include pureed fruits and vegetables, oatmeal, and rice cereal.
9- Frozen Foods
Many frozen foods are sprayed with pesticides to protect them from pests and diseases. Choosing organic frozen foods ensures that you are getting the full nutritional benefits of these healthy foods without any added risks. Some of the most commonly consumed organic frozen foods include fruits, vegetables, and prepared meals.
10- Snacks and Treats
Many snacks and treats are made with ingredients that are sprayed with pesticides or genetically modified. Choosing organic snacks and treats ensures that you are getting the full nutritional benefits of these foods without any added risks. Some of the most commonly consumed organic snacks and treats include granola bars, cookies, and popcorn.
Here's a Bonus,
11- Herbs and Spices
Herbs and spices are an important part of cooking, but non-organic options may be contaminated with harmful chemicals. Organic herbs and spices are grown without the use of pesticides and herbicides.
Conclusion
Choosing organic food is a smart way to protect your health and the environment. While it can be more expensive than conventional food, the benefits of choosing organic are many. By buying organic food, you can reduce your exposure to harmful chemicals and enjoy the full nutritional benefits of these healthy foods. Whether you choose to buy organic fruits, vegetables, meat, dairy, grains, eggs, nuts and seeds, baby food, frozen foods, or snacks and treats, you can feel good knowing that you are making a healthy choice for yourself and the planet.
When it comes to buying organic food, you have a few different options. You can look for an Organic Grocery Store near you, which may carry a wide variety of organic products. Many grocery stores also carry organic products, although the selection may be more limited. If you prefer to shop online, there are many websites that specialize in selling organic food. Buying organic food online can be a convenient option, especially if you live in an area where organic products are not readily available.
If you are looking to buy organic food online, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, make sure that you are buying from a reputable seller. To ensure that the product you're purchasing has been grown and produced using organic methods, check for certifications such as USDA Organic. It's also important to carefully read the product descriptions to ensure that you're getting the specific type of organic product you're looking for. Whether you choose to shop at an organic food store, a grocery store, or online, be sure to read product descriptions carefully and look for certifications like USDA Organic to ensure that you are getting the highest quality organic products available.

max and i are closing in on launching [redacted sports rpf charity fest] and i am once again pondering how do i write "experience with writing form emails and manipulating google forms in ways no one has dreamed of" in a cover letter without saying "i did it for the rpf grind"...like there's no way unless everyone in this microsoft teams meeting gets really cool about a bunch of stuff really quickly. you know
#IT LITERALLY CAME UP WHILE I WAS WRITING A COVER LETTER A COUPLE WEEKS AGO#AND IT WAS SUCH A BAD COVER LETTER BC IT WAS LIKE. I CAN DO THIS. I CAN BE A VIRTUAL PROGRAMMING MANAGER#I JUST CAN'T EXPLAIN HOW I CAME BY THESE SKILLS!!!!#i did not get an interview lmao. but we stay silly#like how do u frame ''community organizer'' when you're organizing. people on the internet to create rpf fanworks. for charity#lmaooooo oh well#me and max locking down our timeline last night and i'm like 😶 the thing i have wanted to do for years is finally happening#the universe tried to smite us multiple times in multiple ways. but we persisted. and it is happening!!!#last night i had to go to the grocery store at 9pm wearing short-shorts and an oversized t-shirt bc i was really like#if i don't get a coke in me right the fuck now i am going to end it all#procured coca-cola. drank it in the parking lot. recovered instantly. got on here and started posting#went to monday night service. last one bc after this week it'll be too late at night in est :(#it was such a nice global community to be apart of. people in 5 countries on four continents showed up almost every week!#not to be christian on main. but i love working with ecumenical organizations because i meet people all over the world#who have different ways of doing church and different interpretations of scripture and different takes on faith#and i always learn so much from people! good and bad lol sometimes it's like wow i will NOT be integrating that into my worldview#yo just under one week until i move 😵‍💫 i decided i am packing one (1) more box and then saying fuck it we ball#whatever i forgot has to go in the car. i cannot let myself be owned by cardboard boxes any longer#and soon. freedom. new start. new beginnings. someone said ''i hope you look at this as a time of new growth and unfolding'' to me#and i went man. i think i am#like the pine trees that reseed after a forest fire#fresno oilers.txt

General psa to not just go for natural supplements claiming to boost testosterone or estrogen without looking into whats in it and what the ingredients actually do, because a lot of them will just boost LH and increase the more predominant hormone in your body or depend on what gonads you have. Im not sure how it would vary for different intersex conditions but unless its a drug that actually increases estrogen or testosterone or progesterone etc. (or is straight up the hormone) for anyone with any organs, its not going to give you your desired result.
Do research into what a drug or supplement does before taking it. Chances are, some boost hormones depending on the organs in your body and are not inherently masculinising or feminising(whichever effect preferred), and may have other unrelated effects on the body. I feel like people often ignore that herbal supplements can cause harm too, if taken improperly or with no knowledge of what they do to the body.

Erewhon, 9300 Culver Blvd, Culver City, CA 90032
Tumblr media
Erewhon’s become the place to be seen and to maybe find a date…while shopping for organic groceries, grabbing a smoothie (one of the smoothies was created by Hailey Bieber), and stocking up on Erewhon skin care and candles. They even have branded apparel. Yes, you can become a member ($200/year) and earn points on purchases.
It was expensive before but it seems like it’s gotten even more expensive now. And some of the products can be found elsewhere for less. But they have a lot of interesting items and tons of prepared foods, including hot foods, pizza, sushi, fresh juices, soups, bread, etc. They have their own brand of coffee and branded water, nuts, nut butter, popcorn, etc. There’s a coffee bar with smoothies and pastries. The prepared foods that I’ve had have been quite good (e.g., sushi, chicken pot pie, beet hummus).
If you are looking for raw, keto, gluten-free, nut-free, etc., you’ll find that your needs are catered to here.
I was looking for San Diego Tempeh which I used to get at their other locations but I didn’t see it. I didn’t find any interesting kombucha either. I sampled some chocolate and pb treat that was chalky. I didn’t like it at all.
Their cut flowers are beautiful but expensive. I’ve never seen produce so neatly displayed. It’s a little scary.
Erewhon is a Certified B corporation and certified organic retailer. They only carry products that are “free from artificial preservatives, synthetic pesticides, ripening agents, growth hormones, irradiation, fumigants, fungicides or other additives. Any processing, packaging or transportation and storing must also ensure the retention of maximum nutritional value.”
Product samplings seem very common. There’s a nice seating area. Parking is available underneath the store.

why is shopping at trader joe's one of the more genuinely panic inducing rituals i get to experience. literally why is it the absolute worst place on earth to try and shop in a speedy and efficient manner. like it's truly mind boggling to me why people don't MOVE out of the WAY EVER
