LIMITED KINGSHIP, WAR STORIES:
CHAPTER 2: HEKIREKI & SENDEN
* Mini Episodes KFCN (List of Chapters) * Projects & Chapters
Translation: Naru-kun Raws: Ridia
Suddenly he realized that the enemy was gone.
The surroundings were full of the dead. Most of the folded corpses belonged to members of the "Purgatory" clan who wore black clothes. Fifteen minutes ago, a hasty force led by Gouki Zenjo raided that warehouse after being contacted by the intelligence department. And then the warehouse turned into a terrible battlefield.
With "Hekireki" bloody on his shoulder, Zenjo started looking for the next enemy to attack. But that no longer existed.
The battle was over and the remnants were hunting. There were still some in black who resisted, but it was only a matter of time before they were crushed or smashed. While he was thinking that, Bado's iron spear pierced one of the black ones, and Azuma's twin sword stabbed another. The "Purgatory" clan member, who had decent fighting ability, didn't seem to be staying anywhere.
"How boring."
He hit the field in an unsightly way and lowered "Hekireki" to the ground.
The next moment, the pile of corpses exploded.
"Zenjo!"
Fresh blood came out from the sword wound all over the body, and flames came from both feet, the one in black clothes was good at fighting. A deadly surprise attack that hid the corpse of a colleague. Long before he understood it, Zenjo tried to shake "Hekireki" with his own super reaction.
He could not.
According to a later investigation, it was an inadvertent collaboration between those in black. One in black that lay behind Zenjo was dying, but was still breathing. With the last of his strength, he grabbed the "outside" blade, regardless of whether his fingers fell.
That caused a delay of a few seconds. Zenjo was just looking at the flaming fingers approaching in front of him, holding "Hekireki's" fixed handle.
But he just grabbed Zenjo's nose.
"You need more than that..."
The one in black clothes who attacked Zenjo stopped in midair. Blood poured from the edge of his mouth which opened and closed with bloody eyes wide open. A thin saber protruded from his chest, and the saber that pierced his chest diagonally from below suddenly stopped the one in black clothing.
"Ah!"
A cheerful voice that did not seem to belong to the place, resounded behind the one in black clothes.
"I'm sorry I made a mistake! Zenjo-san, can you take care of it please?"
It was as easy as asking him to take the remote there. After blinking, Zenjo passed by "Hekireki" and frequently shook the ones in black clothes.
The flames that clung to both feet disappeared.
The body of the man in black, who had lost his neck, was thrown to the ground. A young man standing there waved his saber and wiped off the blood. The friendly look reminded him of a laughing dog.
"No, I made a mistake. If you tap it, it can't be the case, huh? Hahaha…"
"Kuze. You saved me."
Young Kuse laughed cheerfully and waved.
"I just did something extra. Zenjo-san, you could have handled it with a margin."
"No, I couldn't react now. I would have been 'without a nose' at best, because it was aiming at my head."
"Well, is that so? That's good. Soon it's new soba season!"
Zenjo smirked as he tapped on Kuze's shoulder, saying that he was out of focus.
"This season's buckwheat noodles are pretty good too. I'll use chopsticks when I get back to the barracks. Thanks for your help."
"Oh then, make it soba."
"What? Are you going to ask me to make arrangements again?"
Kuse was smiling. Zenjo saw the smile as if he was amazed. Not suitable for a bright appearance, this young man had a very persistent character.
"Well, I wish I could go home."
"Oh, thanks!"
As Kuze struck a gutsy pose, Zenjo shrugged and walked towards a group of hurrying troops who had begun to take care of the remaining work.
++++++++++
The war was escalating.
Kagutsu Detention Center "Red King" crackdown operation. The attack from "Scepter 4" intended to kill Kagutsu Genji was unsuccessful in retrospect. Although the force of "Purgatory" was greatly reduced, the original purpose of the operation was not finally achieved, and Kagutsu left his territory and fled, and the remaining clan members divided into thousands and went into hiding. The hive was destroyed, but the queen bee and the soldier bees were flying now.
The activities of the scattered members of the "Purgatory" clan were almost the same as before. Whenever something happened, there was a danger that they would explode. "Scepter 4" chased after them and they were incapacitated as soon as they were discovered, but "Purgatory" wasn't just silently hunted to death. The damage caused by a fierce counterattack who did not care about his own life was turning into a social problem that could not be covered even by "Tokijikuin".
There were two pressing issues.
One was the search and murder of Kagutsu as soon as possible. As long as that "King" will continue to exist on earth, this war would never end.
And the other was to increase the strength of "Scepter 4".
The battle with "Purgatory", who burned the people, burned the city and even burned themselves, was slowly shaving the staff of "Scepter 4". To make up for the loss, they touted that they had the cause of the war and recruited a large number of talented personnel from the relevant ministries.
Shuichiro Kuze was one of those supplemental staff members.
Originally a police officer, he achieved outstanding results on both his aptitude and skill tests, and joined the "Scepter 4" running unit at exceptional speed. He was a rare human resource who had already been dispatched several times and was not afraid to fight the deadly "Purgatory", but instead displayed a simulation as if he was enjoying it.
For some reason, Kuze teamed up with Zenjo.
Even now, Kuze and Zenjo were undergoing simulated one-on-one training in the training ground of the "Scepter 4" barracks. Except for the fact that the product was a bamboo sword, it was a form of training that came as close to the actual battle as possible. Even attacks on key points were tolerated wherever they were covered by armor.
Kuze raised the bamboo sword to eye level and turned its blade towards Zenjo.
Zenjo carried a large bamboo sword on his shoulder and was about to attack him.
Kuze's specialty was "pushing". His stab, fired by explosive acceleration with a different ability, was roughly equal to the speed of a bullet. It would be impossible to react if it were the perception of an ordinary person.
But, of course, Zenjo was not an ordinary person.
"Let's go!"
The next moment that Kuze said that, the figure disappeared.
An extraordinary light that glowed fluttering blue like the tail of a meteor. Before recognizing it, Zenjo's body was moving. The speed God's sword judgment darted into the void on the right.
Zenjo's bamboo sword touched Kuze's sword that jutted out without fail.
"Ah!"
As he wielded the sword of pursuit, Zenjo was impressed. Viewed from above, the location of the different abilities would have looked like a rank "nine". A blow from outside the field of vision due to explosive acceleration, but it did not exceed Zenjo's reaction speed.
"Che!"
Kuze sped up again, leaving a childish click of the tongue. As he repeated sharp turns ignoring the laws of physics, he jumped incessantly. He was like a spring-loaded toy that swept across the training ground.
Zenjo stopped chasing him with his eyes and closed his lids.
Behind.
Before he felt it, his body was still moving. He turns and cut the space behind him. The cut that was shot deflected Kuze's thrust horizontally upward and hit him like he was a face shield.
"Damn!"
With a stupid voice, Kuze struck and fell to the ground of the training ground. If he had been serious, he would have lost his nose.
"This is the ninth."
Carrying the bamboo sword on his shoulder again, Zenjo said that without pride. Kuze, who had stretched out into a large shape, lifted his upper body as he rubbed the back of his neck.
"I thought I could pull it off now... Zenjo-san, do you have eyes behind you?"
"Well, it's clear. You can understand it even if you can't see it."
"Mm... Zenjo-san, another one! Please."
When Kuze lifted his index finger, Zenjo was truly astonished and showed the training ground clock with his chin.
"It's closing time. It will be tomorrow."
"Really? Absolutely tomorrow!"
"I wish they hadn't sent me."
Saying that, while he was a bit crowded, Zenjo headed for the exit. Kuze also put the bamboo sword in a bag and bounced after him.
After taking a shower together, they had dinner later.
The barracks cafeteria was quiet, probably because it was late. Zenjo ordered a hazaru soba and Kuze a kitsune udon, and they ate together.
Kuze talked to Zenjo all the time while he ate.
"Zenjo-san, are you attached to the army?"
"Hmm?"
" I belonged there. There are a lot of people like that in 'Scepter 4', right?"
Surely it was so. The personnel of "Scepter 4" came mainly from other security organizations. Unless they didn't lack combat training on a daily basis, they couldn't withstand the battle with "Purgatory."
However, the situation was different for Zenjo.
After slurping his soba, he said...
"I am from a mountain."
"Mountain?"
"When I was waving a stick in the mountains, I met Habari, so I followed him."
Kuze blinked twice as he pinched the fried food with chopsticks.
"Well, what was that? What kind of situation?"
"Thanks, like I said."
Answering only that, Zenjo took a sip of soba again.
Kuze stared at Zenjo for a while with a surprised face, and then...
"Fu…"
He shook his shoulders and started laughing.
"Hahahahahahahaha! What's wrong, did you meet the commander in the mountains and follow him? Hahaha, Zenjo-san, are you a youkai?"
Zenjo was disappointed in Kuze, who bent over his body and laughed like a child. It was surprising that he was laughed at, although it was not his intention to make him laugh.
"No, sorry, I'm not going to make a fool of myself. But that was very interesting."
"Is it interesting?"
"It's incredibly interesting! I've never met such a person!"
"Mmm...?"
He wondered if that was the case. Originally, Zenjo was a guy who didn't understand many things. If they told him it was interesting, it would be true.
"No, you're good at 'Scepter 4' after all. It's not boring."
As he cheerfully said that, Kuze drank the udon from him. As Zenjo ate the soba noodles, he looked at Kuze as if he was looking at something strange.
"Bored?"
"Yes. The workplace in front of me was already boring. Anyone can do it, such as document preparation, on-site verification and traffic control. More like this, a fierce car chase with the criminal! Fighting battle! Shooting! I was imagining it."
He lifted the bowl and drank the soup.
"So it's so boring that I shouldn't do it. When I was thinking about it, they asked me and I came to try it. I can do what I want every day! It's a lot of fun, right? That's why I think you adapt very well to "Scepter 4"!
Zenjo scratched his cheeks while Kuze drank, wiped his mouth and clasped his hands with a "Thanks for the food!"
"Uh..."
"Isn't that the case with Zenjo-san? Don't you do it because it's medicinal?"
"Eh?"
He wondered if that was the case. Was he enjoying the battle with "Purgatory"?
There was no doubt that he was elevated during the battle. On the battlefield where a momentary judgment divides life and death, that feeling that inspires all cells cannot be experienced anywhere else.
But he didn't think he was struggling to taste it.
When he swung his sword under Habari's command in "Scepter 4", he felt that he was breathing properly. It seemed natural to do so and it "fit." He didn't know if he could describe it as funny.
"Well, that's correct."
It became difficult to think of the way and Zenjo answered that.
"That's right! Well, I'm glad you feel the same way as me!"
Kuze laughed in a friendly way and then a mysterious light fell on his eyes.
"But lately, it's more fun practicing with Zenjo-san than interacting with 'Purgatory'."
"Really?"
"Yes, because Zenjo-san is much stronger than them, so it's fun to do it. Hey, Zenjo-san. Someday, with me…"
Kuze cut off the words when he suddenly remembered. After blinking several times, the mysterious light disappeared. Then suddenly he stood up and held the bowl of kitsune udon in his hands.
"Sorry, it's nothing! So, good night!"
With a smile, Kuze went to the place where the dishes were being returned.
As he drank his soba, Zenjo rebelled against Kuze's words.
(Well, I'm glad you feel the same way as me!)
Maybe it wasn't.
Although they belonged to the same "Scepter 4" and wielded a saber, he felt that something was decisively different between him and Kuze.
He didn't know what it was. He didn't want to think until he knew. Thinking again that he was okay, Zenjo dropped the green onion seasoning into crushed chunks.
++++++++++
Three days later, the hidden member of the "Purgatory" clan in Minari-cho, Fengze-ku, was discovered.
According to the information department report, there was only one member. However, the problem is that he was hiding in the houses of common people. They threatened the inhabitants and parasitized their lives themselves. A bully lurked in his house and behaved inattentive. The father of the family, who could not bear such a situation, rushed to a public institution and discovered his existence.
In response to this, "Scepter 4" quickly formed a unit that rushed over. They ran to the site to "exterminate" the abominable parasite.
However, this time, it was not possible to get through the gate with the transport vehicle and cut it randomly. After all, the other party was alone and the detained hostages were a mother and two young children, according to the father's information. If they took action inadvertently, it would have the worst consequences.
The operation required speed and stealth. "Scepter 4", the deputy director, Gen Shiotsu, selected the appropriate personnel and devised a strategy.
Shuichiro Kuse was included in the staff, but it was boring for him.
Kuze was toying with that idea while biting his yawn in the car.
It had already been three hours since they arrived at the place. Because "Scepter 4" stood out in a transport vehicle, they used an ordinary sedan type and stopped from hiding to blind spot. Kuze sighed softly, looking at him stagnant out the window.
He wished he could rush in and kill him.
It would be easy. He would jump out the door, go through the second floor and invade, and drive the saber into the heart of the guy in black. That was all that was needed.
Kuze understood why he was selected as a runner. The small body was suitable for infiltration, and the "Senden" saber he had was also a slim custom-made one, so it should work effectively in a small room.
So he wanted to do it as soon as possible.
Finally, the long-awaited command came from insiders.
"The target has taken the hostage. I enclose the location."
"Yes!"
He sprang to his feet, grabbed the saber, opened the passenger seat door, and Kuze broke into a run.
In seconds, the target house came into view. When he was hiding behind the wall of a neighbor's house and observing the situation, the transmitter spoke a voice again.
"The target is in the bathroom on the second floor. The children cannot confirm the whereabouts of their mother in the next room. Each member must pay the utmost attention and do everything in their power to secure the hostages."
"Kuze, ready!"
With a light tone, Kuze pulled "Senden" out of the scabbard.
He held his breath and waited for the moment. The plan of the house is engraved on his head. All the images of how he would move, what kind of path he would take and how he would kill the one in black clothes were created in Kuze's brain.
Kuze himself did not know that there were no hostages there.
"Fast!"
By the time Shiotsu's voice echoed, Kuze was jumping.
He jumped off the wall, landed on the ceiling, and ran. At the edge of the field of vision, he could see a blue trail that went through him in the same way. There were a total of four runners, all their own competitors, who aspired to the life of a single man in black. Kuze licked his lips and accelerated to the point where the shingles broke.
He jumped with the same impulse, he broke the second floor window with his body and ran inside.
"Eh?!"
He heard a high-pitched voice. Kuze invaded the children's room on the second floor. According to the information, two children who were less than elementary school students were shaking in a corner of the room.
Kuze ignored it.
The problem was that of black clothes. If he killed him, everything would be solved. So that should take precedence. Kuze thought that way and stepped out into the second floor hallway.
Their eyes met.
There was a figure in black clothes in the bathroom that was left open. However, when Kuze found him, he was strangling and using the children's mother as a shield.
"Stay away, blue clothes! This woman will die!"
He could barely see the one in black who was angry. Very firmly, he was hiding behind the woman. The scared woman shook her head, while she shook her head, he looked and disappeared his face burned in black.
Before thinking of anything, Kuze was kicking the ground.
If he killed him, that would be it. That was the only priority, and everything else was wiped from Kuze's head.
Many things happened at the same time.
"Kuze, stop!" One of the rushing staff members yelled.
"Damn it!" The man in black's burned face turned red, and the flame-filled woman screamed in tears.
Time seemed to flow slowly. He could feel precisely the extraordinary light of "Senden", the heat of the flames that sprouted from the face of the man in black and the smell of the flesh that enveloped her.
In the slowdown time, Kuze analyzed various factors and...
(Oh, this person can't be helped anymore.), he thought.
Too easily, he cut off the hostage's life.
This being the case, the hostage's body was no longer a problem. It was just a corpse, a wall of flesh less than 8 inches.
It did not hinder "Senden".
With a half-smile, Kuze stabbed hard forward.
A bright blue tip pierced the woman's chest, and the heart of the man in black was skewered and glued to the bathroom wall.
"......"
The woman opened and closed her mouth. Kuze tilted his head and looked at her face, thinking that she looks like a dying goldfish.
When Kuze drew the saber, the woman and the one in black fell one on top of the other. Their bloods mixed.
The bodies clung to each other and wet Kuze's shoes.
He takes a breath and inform the others.
"We have deactivated the objective. The mission is complete."
At the same time, an angry sound rang out from behind.
"Kuze! Damn! What did you do?!"
He thought, and looked at the owner of the voice as if he was confused. It was Shinohara, who belonged to the same group as him. He was yelling something when he flushed with anger, but Kuze couldn't understand the meaning of the word. He turned his neck and face away to keep them from flying off.
The frozen facial expressions of the two boys, looking through the door, were reflected in Kuze's field of vision.
++++++++++
"Do you know what you did?"
"Scepter 4", Shiotsu made a heavy voice in the barracks interview room.
Shuichiro Kuze, standing in front of him, replied as if nothing had happened.
"I killed the member of the 'Purgatory' clan. I think it was an unavoidable decision in that situation."
"Right now, 'Purgatory' is not the problem. The problem is Kuze, you stabbed the hostage and killed her."
"I did not murder her. At that time, the woman had already been killed by the one in black clothes. Should I be so reprimanded for damaging her corpse?"
Shiotsu had various reports in front of him.
"Shinohara's report is different. At that time, Shinohara said that the woman was still alive. However, he testified that you ignored the warning and approached the black-robed one and went through him."
"In my eyes, she looked dead."
Kuze spoke clearly.
"I think it would have been difficult to help her, even if she had a break. Is it the right decision to leave the dangerous clansman to help a dying woman? If the action was delayed, hers, two of her children and I could have been euthanized."
"It is not you who should judge whether the woman would be saved or not."
"The judgment of the site should be left to the members of the site."
Shiotsu groaned softly.
What Kuze said was correct in some respects. In the battle with "Purgatory", a momentary misjudgment could be fatal. And that moment came innumerably. It was not enough to have many lives if they were all compared with the regulations of the body and the current law. Above all, Kuze said that a certain amount of excessive acts should be allowed to protect one's life.
But…
Shiotsu watched Kuze's expression.
There was no expression floating there. Self-blame, regret, remorse. He couldn't read any of the emotions the one with the almost innocent human hands would have.
Shiotsu muttered to himself that that was the real problem.
"Kuze..."
At that moment, Shiotsu silently inhaled, and then...
"Where do you think the meaning of 'Scepter 4' is?"
"Eh…?"
"Answer it. What's 'Scepter 4' for?"
For the first time, the color of hesitation reached Kuze's expression.
As he listened to Shiotsu, Kuze replied.
"Kill the enemy. Annihilate "Purgatory" and bring peace to society."
Shiotsu sighed deeply and said.
"No. You are definitely misunderstanding."
"......"
"Our mission is to protect the general public. The sword to protect those who cannot resist the weapon of incompetence, that is 'Scepter 4'."
"It's the same as I said, right?"
In the words that Kuze muttered, unprecedented emotions appeared.
He was frustrated.
"Killing those in black clothes is to protect the general public. If they are left unattended, tens or even hundreds of people will die if they are not treated well. To avoid that, isn't it natural to leave two people alone?"
"Still, we should not be the ones to kill. We should be the ones to protect the people. If there is a defenseless civilian, that is why we have the power to protect ourselves."
"It's stupid."
Kuze laughed through his nose. His dark and bright gaze seemed harsher, as he generally had a friendly gaze.
"Why do we have to do that? It is so stupid for a good person to be sacrificed for an inferior person."
Shiotsu closed his eyes.
What swirled around his chest was not anger at Kuze, but responsibility for himself.
He may have been too impatient to make up for the personnel lost in the battle with "Purgatory". He had hired a person who lacked the most important qualities, distracted only by the ability to fight. He should have known well what would happen if that person had a different ability and special power.
People who cannot control themselves will eventually use their different abilities as they wish.
How is it different from "Purgatory"?
Shiotsu slowly opened his eyes and said in a low voice,
"Shuichiro Kuse. Say goodbye to "Scepter 4" from now on."
++++++++++
Kuze, who came out of the interview room, was looking vaguely at the ceiling of the hallway.
(I blew it.), he thought.
With that in mind, he sighs. This time, he looked down at the ground and started walking.
When he was called by Shiotsu, Kuze had decided what he should do. That was a field decision and he didn't think he had done anything wrong. He intended to stick to that statement.
It is the members of the field who exchange lives. However, it was not uncommon for him to be blamed for a later trial. It was a common feeling not only for Kuze but also for the ER personnel.
Shiotsu was smart and looked closely at the members. That is why he thought that he would not give such a severe punishment based on his thoughts.
"He was telling me something strange."
Kuze lied and looked at his hand. When he focused his consciousness there, the blue glow of the extraordinary shimmered.
It was proof that he was an excellent person and a chosen one.
Kuze couldn't respond well to Shiotsu's words asking the meaning of "Scepter 4". That was because Kuze didn't know. Therefore, he got a rag out of there. It didn't matter if the general public died or lived, he knew that his true intentions would probably not be forgiven within the organization, so he hid it.
The important thing for Kuze was to use that power in all directions to fight. Fight "Purgatory", bypass the momentary deadline and end the life of the enemy. Never in a dull life until now, was it a bright day.
That was stolen from him.
Because he took a boring life from a boring human.
Kuze sighed again and suddenly raised his face.
A familiar giant was walking down the hall. Kuze laughed and raised a hand.
"Hey, Zenjo-san."
"Oh, Kuze?"
Zenjo's eyebrows widened when he noticed that Kuze was there for the first time.
"What are you doing in a place like this? Is it training?"
"No."
Kuze laughed bitterly and...
"Hey, I've been preaching to the vice principal. I'm here for that."
"Oh, Shiotsu? It's loud."
Sympathy reached Zenjo's eyes. Seeing that, Kuze's smile changed to a natural one.
That person knew himself.
He had always felt that way. Zenjo, like himself, rejoiced in the fight. He was a person who should have the nature of killing people rather than helping people. So, Kuze was sure that if he talked about the situation, this person would be on his side.
"But you're almost right."
Zenjo simply denied the idea.
"Eh?"
"Shiotsu is loud, but he's always right. If he claims something from you, you're wrong. I wonder what he was. Apologize properly."
"......"
Kuze looked at his toes.
"Yes, what is that?"
"If that is all."
"I see."
Kuze scratched his head again with a bitter smile.
"In a way that's correct. I thought it was suitable for 'Scepter 4', but surprisingly, isn't it?"
"Eh?"
Zenjo mysteriously shook his head, thought for a moment and then nodded.
"That's right. You said you were the same as me, but I think you are different from me."
"......"
"I can't put it right. You might not be good at 'Scepter 4'. You should stop in time."
Zenjo said that in a wonderful and irresponsible way.
Kuze was about to start laughing. Interestingly, he didn't get mad at all. This was because it had been broadcast that Zenjo was saying that from the bottom of his heart without any malicious intent.
After all, Kuze didn't dislike Zenjo. He was clean, natural, and stronger than anyone. That's why he liked dealing with this person, because he could fight without shackles.
He regretted thinking that he couldn't do that from now on.
Then, Kuze suddenly glowed.
"Ah!"
"Hmm? What's wrong?"
"Sorry Zenjo-san, I just remembered my errand now! I'm done!"
In a hurry, Kuze ran down the hall. Zenjo said, "Oh...?", and gave up, but Kuze suddenly stopped and looked back.
"Please help me again later!"
Zenjo laughed and nodded.
"Oh, I have to be sent."
"Still, please!"
Kuze ran away, saying just that with a smile.
It was that night that Shuichiro Kuze disappeared with "Senden".
++++++++++
When he got out of the transport car, a warm wind caressed Zenjo's cheeks.
The policeman raised his face and smelled a faint smell on the wind. He was delving into the battlefield with "Purgatory". He smelled like sticky, burnt blood.
According to the map, the back alley where the discovery of the men in black was reported was divided into T-shapes. The unit split into three hands, blocking all exits. The most important thing to prevent was that those in black clothes escaped. They had to make sure to capture or neutralize them, even if they took some risks.
At that moment, in front of Zenjo, the entrance to the back alley was black and open.
"Over there."
At random, Zenjo entered an alley.
The back alley was narrow and dark. Polyethylene buckets and outdoor units blocked the street, and the walls of the building that approached from the left and right blocked the sunlight. If one in black clothes came out of the shadows and emitted a flame of extraordinary skill, there would be no way around it. It could be said that this was also a dead place.
Still, Zenjo was not afraid and advanced slowly.
The process suddenly stopped.
Shinohara, who was following Zenjo, said groaning.
"What is the situation? What is this?"
One in black clothes was dead, as if his back was against the wall of the building.
Wide-eyed and in a pool of blood. The burned right hand was soaked in the blood clot, burning and producing black smoke. This was probably the cause of the smell.
In the first place, it was a mystery from the initial discovery report.
It was said that several of the black clothes were fighting. At the time, there were no "Scepter 4" units deployed nearby, and since the Hiiragi incident, the police had been told to stay away from the men in black. Most likely it was a fight between those in black, but in the current situation where they were hiding in a scattered way, he did not think they would do such an outstanding act.
So who was fighting the ones in black?
Zenjo, who was inspecting the corpse in black, said the answer.
"It's Kuze."
"What…?!"
"It is pierced all over the body. This is due to 'Senden'."
Saying that, Zenjo stood up.
Since that night, Kuze's whereabouts have been known to be uncertain. Kuze's legal status was the same as an "Illegal Strain" since he was fired from "Scepter 4". They had to capture him and put a skill suppressor on him, but there weren't enough personnel to track him down in "Scepter 4".
Kuze killed the ones in black and, perhaps, he was still hiding in that place.
"But why is Kuze here?"
Shinohara said that, and suddenly closed his mouth.
Someone slowly emerged from the darkness behind the alley.
It was also one of black clothes.
"Oh, fufu...!"
His face was distorted with anger and hatred, and blood was pouring from his entire body to the point that his black suit was still drenched in red and black. Legs wobbly, the one in black slowly approached.
"Gah!"
The tip of the saber protruded from his chest.
The saber was instantly pulled out and the one in black collapsed to his knees.
Zenjo spoke the name from behind him, standing there.
"Hekireki."
"Oh, Zenjo-san!"
Dressed in a dark green raincoat, Kuze smiled at his face, which had been bathed in blood, and called out to Zenjo cheerfully.
"No, I'm lucky! I can't get it all of a sudden!"
"What are you doing?"
"What?"
Eyes blinking, Kuze looked around him, and mysteriously at himself.
"What's wrong? It's not a job. I got fired from 'Scepter 4'."
He shook "Senden" to spill the blood.
"But if you look for the black clothes, 'Scepter 4' will come, right? Maybe Zenjo-san is there! I thought it was good."
While he smiled, Kuze,
"I never thought we could meet at once! I'm lucky! So…"
He crouched down and pointed the tip of "Senden".
"Let's go."
Before Zenjo thought of anything, Kuze was kicking the ground.
The glow of the blue genie was diffusely reflected in the narrow back alley. He bounced off the ground, scaled walls, emergency stairs, he went up, down, left and right, and hit everything, drawing an unpredictable trajectory like a pinball.
Shinohara, who was behind Zenjo, couldn't even follow Kuze with his eyes. But Zenjo reacted.
It was also an action before thinking. The thick blade of "Hekireki" flipped up as the wind scattered.
The dark green raincoat split in half.
Kuze was no longer there. He twisted in midair, tossed his raincoat, and landed on the ground.
Zenjo kept "Hekireki" jumping and stopped in an unprotected posture. Looking at his empty torso, a fierce smile appeared on Kuze's mouth.
(I caught you!), he thought.
With extraordinary power in his legs, Kuze tried to strike a stroke of luck.
He felt the shock in his chest.
"Eh?"
He lost the strength of his leg. His soles did not separate as if they were stuck to the ground. Interestingly, he looked under his feet and saw a saber thrust into his chest.
"Ah?"
When he coughed, a blood clot spilled from his lips.
Kuze slowly looked at Zenjo.
Zenjo was flipping "Hekireki", with just his right hand.
Before he knew it, he held another saber in his left hand. That pierced through Kuze's chest.
"Oh, wow...!"
Kuze distorted the edge of his mouth when he heard Shinohara make a panicky voice.
"Hey, Shinohara. It's a pay cut to have a saber stolen from you."
When Zenjo drew the saber, Kuze sank into place.
The blood was overflowing. The color of his face was white and transparent. It was clear to everyone that it was no longer useful.
Still, Kuze was somewhat satisfied. He looked at Zenjo and laughed weakly.
"After all... you are amazing, Zenjo-san. I couldn't get over you."
"Kuze."
There was no anger or sadness in Zenjo's expression, just confusion.
"What did you want to do?"
"What?"
Kuze shook his shoulders and laughed. Eventually the laughter turned into a cough and the exhaled blood created a series of stains in the alley.
"I wanted to. A real and potentially deadly battle with Zenjo-san."
Breathing out, Kuze fell onto his side.
"It was fun."
That was the last word from him.
Zenjo, holding a bloody saber, shot a confused look at Kuze's corpse.

A Wild Sheep Chase: Chapter 2 of Choujin X!
It's here! I've gushed about the chapter over at my Twitter, but like I said in my previous post, I want to see how the story progresses and keep a log about it. So here it goes!
Background info on Ely Otsuta
So before we delve into Chapter 2 which almost exclusively featured Ely... Let's take note of the new things we learned about Ely:
She's from a rural prefecture. I think she lives in the mountainside specifically since that's where she grows her tomatoes.
She's a greenthumb (we already kinda knew this from the previous chapter but we learn more about her life pre-Choujin X). I understand that even if the soil is infertile, she's able to grow tomatoes so nutritious and plump. So plump, they resemble butts, hence, "bumbums!" It appears she uses advanced equipment for her farming stuff. So yeah, based on these, it's established Ely has a green thumb!
Oh, and it appears that it's clarified that her "Grandpapi" whom she talks about in the 1st chapter is an adoptive grandfather (not biological, hence, maybe in the future we'd know her parents and learn why Ely is special).
It's just me but I get the impression that Ely is being introduced as some sort of "fertility" choujin, since she also dreams of having 9 kids. Haha!
It's kinda weird though why the burning tomato has a face. Was it just from her dream, since after plucking a bumbum - she woke up? Hmm, after some thought, I think the burning tomato with a face is just from her dream.
Ely Wakes Up from Reality
When Ely woke up, she finds herself in the South Yamato prefecture. Okay, so I think this leaning tower of some sort has a significance to the story.
Tumblr media
It's featured in every spread with the title "Choujin X" and also in the last chapter. Can you see it? Maybe it has something to do with how the powers are made, like pollution-related or a botched experiment. Dunno. Just my wild speculation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Wild Sheep Chase
This is the exciting part. So when Ely wakes up, Chandra Hume offers to "escort" her, but really it appears he wants to kidnap her. And from, *checks the manga* page 10 to 40, we have Ely running away from Chandra until she fell in what looks like a similar area where Tokio and Azuma fought Johnny Kiyoshi Takeyama.
The chase sequence consisting of 30 pages were so fun and I was smiling all the while I was reading! Ely is so cute trying to parkour her way through the buildings (kinda reminds me of Touka?? I miss Touka!). Chandra looks really cool, he seemed to be flying too, using his powers (more on that later)!
Tumblr media
But not to be outdone, Ely borrows a "Roller Boy Yay-Yay" which basically is a scooter with something that resembles a driver's wheel. Its literal translation of ローラーBOYイェイ・イェイ -- which, checking Twitter and in Ishida's latest live stream, I think the locals found it hilarious too. Ishida is just unleashing his crazy here, I love it!
After that sequence, we get the tractor and sheep chase. Ah! I love it.. So what happened is that, Chandra and Ely fall off from their Roller Boy Yay-Yay. Ely who just claimed she can outrun Chandra if she were riding a tractor, suddenly found one right in front of her! Then Chandra lands near a gang... or should I say, a flock of sheep-bikers. They're all wearing these Kanji-printed tracksuits and basically look like they're a bunch of delinquents? They even describe themselves as "cryptid bikers"... Cryptid supposedly means mysterious? Idk why the weird choice of words for the translation though.
Funnily, I was just reading Haruki Murakami's A Wild Sheep Chase (羊をぐる冒険 --- Hitsuji o meguru bōken or literally An Adventure Surrounding Sheep). I wonder if this scene something to do with this book?
Anyway, Chandra entices the sheep to help hip capture Ely by bribing them with a Docomo flip phone. I don't know why a flip phone - could mean the following: (a) the sheep are so poor, a flip phone is cool; (b) maybe flip phones are a status symbol in that universe; (c) maybe the setting is in the 2000s when the flip phones really were all the rage.
So they all chase Ely, but Chandra suddenly has a car too. Someone on Twitter said it's a Porsche? But I can't tell, though Chandra said his car is a four-wheel drive... Heh? Idk what to do with this info.
As for Ely, she is really good with the tractor as she said. The hilarity of outrunning motorcycles and what could be a Porsche. That tractor prowess! Later on, Chandra and the other sheep figure into an accident with a "safety-loving" truck (oh the irony, lol). Chandra flew off the car and so did his fancy shoes...
Tumblr media
Ely didn't exactly come out unscathed. Ishida allocated 4 double spreads for this epic fall. Some of the sheep definitely should have died from that spectacular accident.
At first, Ely was smug about escaping the sheep. But then, I think she was moved by compassion and I think she hurt herself in order to revive the sheep. I just wonder though, how she learned to do that?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then we get another awesome double spread of her transformation, similar to Tokio's. Augh Ishida-sensei. These are soooo good!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because of her transformation, the whole area was engulfed with smoked and I think the sheep were effectively revived. It appears Chandra saw all this (while he was regenerating... so we now know choujins or at least smoke choujins like Chandra has regenerative powers), hence he marveled at Ely's newfound power. It was kinda confirmed that Ely was responsible for keeping the casualties to a minimum. Specifically he said Ely possesses: quick judgment, though resolve, persistence... making her a human with the makings of a choujin... while also kinda noting Ely's silliness.
Here we go again with Chandra's "fancy gentleman" facade... Even the way he talks is fancy ("I am well-acquainted with the roads here") but more than that... he's self-important. I talked about my other views on his character on Reddit. I get the impression he's something of a "Choujin supremacist", you know what I mean? So, he wants to kinda recruit Ely into his organization or whatever.
Ely is righteous
So we see that Ely is further introduced as a good character, standing up against Chandra and rejecting his offer to be his pupil or something. Ely was clearly upset about the grandma getting hurt (did she die? I hope she didn't) and made it clear she would never join him. Chandra takes offense at this rejection, especially when Ely said Chandra is worse than a turd.
As Chandra tries to inflict pain on Ely (something about marking her on the face), she recalls her resolve from Chapter 1: drones for farming, a greenhouse, her grandpappy, a mansion, the big dog, paying back the kid for his roller boy yay-yay, the Goldilocks hubbie, nine kids... But just before we can see if she can fight Chandra off...
The most handsome man of all Sui Ishida's works (haha!)
This buff mysterious man with a bandana reminiscent of the Teenage Ninja Mutant Turtles seemed to have blown Chandra and Ely (also the cars and motorcycles) away by a mere clap of his hands. It appears even Chandra is afraid of this guy and recognizes him... he leaves the scene using his smoke powers before the guy can do serious damage. I think his power has something to do with wind since there was like a little hint with all the ventilation stuff in the setting.
The guy manages to create a circle of protection around Ely. He tells Ely that Chandra's modus is to target "people with aptitude like Ely". He helpfully mends Ely's punctured hand with his bandana.... And when Ely looks up at his face, what do you know? Haha!
Our girl Ely has a love interest! Haha.
Tokio's Gregor Samsa moment
I've observed from the manga I've read that characters with transformation abilities always, always go through this adjustment period with the power. Gregor Samsa, Peter Parker, our boy Kaneki... Anyway, it seems Tokio doesn't know or can't turn back into a normal-looking person. But the last panel sure is interesting because we have them experiencing this transformation at the same time. Also, since it reminds me of Touka and Ayato's volume cover. I hope they find each other soon though!
Types of Choujins and initial premises on the Power of Choujins
So there are 3 confirmed types so far: Flexi (Johnny), Bestial (our boy Tokio), and Smoke. It seems that pretty boy Hoshi doesn't have a category yet, but like I said I think his has something to do with air or ventilation lol.
We learned that Chandra is a Smoke Choujin, and Ely is now one too and she was may have been somehow infected by Chandra's smoke/fumes. It appears now that there are 2 ways to become a choujin: injection and inhalation. Chandra wonders if Ely was infected with his power... But I'm thinking the infection theory might not be that accurate. After all, it seems Ely has a green thumb.
But, I think as Chandra said, only some people have an aptitude for this. So, Ely and Tokio are examples. I wonder if Azuma also has choujin powers or did it not manifest yet? Is the aptitude inherent or something you can acquire? If so, what does Tokio have that Azuma doesn't, especially since everyone thinks Azuma is "better" than Tokio in all aspects?
We'll find out in Chapter 3 more or less!! I'm sorry for any grammar mistakes! I'd like to hear your thoughts or comments if any :)

Looker x Anabel Retrospective
Tumblr media
The absolute ultimate Retrospective post as to explain why I’ve been on this OTP since 2016. Especially made in mind with the idea that some new peeps on the boat may not realize the extent of the lore between these two characters. Feel free to read this or skip this if you want, because I did pour out my heart and soul and it can be kind of a lengthy read.
Enjoy~
So Looker and Anabel have been two existing characters in Pokemon for the longest time, with both being sort of beloved for different reasons but not too often thought about as compared to other NPCs. One’s a reoccurring comedy relief detective since Platinum and the other is probably the most memorable and strongest of the Hoenn Battle Frontier from Emerald.
But when SunMoon dropped, these two characters got a new lease on life that no one really saw coming. This special appearance made them go from NPCs I never really thought too much about to placing them as my top two favorite Pokemon characters of all time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The UB Task Force mission, as much as a glorified fetch quest as it seems to be, continues some of the darker, more adult themes brought along with SunMoon. While the main story dealt with subjects of abuse and what it means to be a truly strong person in the case of hardships, the post game surprisingly delves into the corrupt side of a seemingly good organization and idea of sacrificing one life to save another. What appears to be another run of the mill Looker mission takes a dive into the tragic backstory shared between certain characters, and all of this lore was scrapped in the ‘definitive’ USUM games.
So while a lot of people might have played this portion of the game, many could have skipped it entirely or didn’t give the dialogue too much thought.
But you’re asking, why is it special? And why have I cared so much for a potential romantic relationship between Looker and Anabel enough to draw them as much as I have?
Haha. Buckle up buckaroo.
So right off the bat, Looker and Anabel’s banter sets up what kind of relationship they have with one another. They’re formal as coworkers can be, but the more they talk to one another, the friendliness that they share quickly becomes apparent. They also tend to speak highly of each other, no matter if the person is in the room or gone out.
Tumblr media
And he’s not wrong! Looker is well aware of just how capable Anabel is for a guy that isn’t really known for Pokemon battles himself.
After the first UB on the list is securely captured, Looker insists on a feast for everyone to enjoy in one of Alola’s famous restaurants, in which Anabel points out asking how he had known of this already having just now arrived here. Looker, flustered, says that he’s read it in a magazine and dashes out to make reservations, cuing Anabel to react to his odd antics in a more...
Affectionate way.
Tumblr media
Look at that lil smile.
He’s an odd fellow, for sure. A lot of characters in the past called him weird or were off put by his personality, but Anabel is very patient and sort of endeared by him. He constantly returns to the gang yelling “It’s a catastrophe!” in different languages-- And Anabel doesn’t snap at him angrily for it, but calmly asks him to repeat himself in english so that she can understand him.
During the course of the post game while Looker’s away, Anabel is always talking about him in a positive manner. Despite his quirks, she finds him a league of his own even amongst the elite of the International Police.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Despite this acknowledgment of Looker’s skill and ability, she seems to be awfully dead set on keeping Looker as backup in their base of operations.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anabel knows how dangerous UBs are. They’re not human criminals that he can easily deal with with his own fists-- they are aggravated alien monsters. Her imagining Looker facing one of them alone without any Pokemon to defend himself with probably scares her deeply.
Scares her enough for her to constantly assign him to be backup for her and the Protag, despite his protests and his expertise in fieldwork.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And yet she never fails to remind him that he is important regardless of whether he’s on the field fighting alongside her or set to backup. Almost, in a way, finding a way to flatter him. (smiling at him as reassurance or perhaps even putting up a bit of charm) She is thankful for his help on getting intel and he’s a valuable asset to the mission, but she cannot bear the thought of her friend getting hurt when she can handle the UBs with her own fully trained Pokemon team.
However, despite her confidence, Anabel grows more and more fatigued with each UB encounter. Looker’s worry rises and he tries even harder to let himself take her place in the field.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
As much as she also insists on not wanting to worry him, Looker’s usual goofy and eccentric demeanor begins to change. His speech patterns start to become more serious and his sentences trail off more often, which throughout all the games, is a rather rare sight to see. His care for Anabel brings out something vulnerable and emotional out of someone self proclaimed hard-boiled.
Tumblr media
With all the respect he gives her and all the times he commemorates her aptitude, he still fears for her greatly.
And when a familiar character appears, we understand why.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Nanu comes in to talk about the truth behind Anabel’s reappearance in the series; much like the UBs, she came from another world through Ultra Space and ended up as what Interpol dubbed as a Faller.
Fallers are bathed in the energy from ultra wormholes. Thus, UBs are attracted to these humans, mistaking them as a way back home and going on the attack. Back then, Interpol found a particular use for Fallers by using them to direct the attention of UBs away from public areas.
Which is what happened ten years prior to the events of SunMoon. Looker, Nanu, and a third member were sent to fight a Guzzlord. However, Looker hesitated in harming it further when it realized it was just scared monster sent here against it’s will. But his lapse in judgment cost the life of the third member, a Faller woman, to fall victim to Guzzlord’s attack.
Looker and Nanu took down the Guzzlord but learned the horrible truth about their companion, who was not trained in combat-- she was designated as bait, but the catastrophic results were a failure that shadows Interpol forever. Not long after, the two agents found a woman washed up Poni’s shore recollecting nothing about herself but her name; Anabel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is why Looker has been growing ever so worried for Anabel’s safety and why he even asked the champion in the first place to help. The protag is indeed a Faller as well. He thought he could be able to control the situation with having a fantastic trainer who befriended Solgaleo/Lunala to keep the UB outbreak in check-- To make sure Anabel was safe. After all, the protag is able to help the mission go along beautifully and safely capture each UB.
But not without a price. Anabel was still being hurt, and Nanu had to intervene to make Looker realize that he had made a big mistake.
After all, Anabel isn’t aware that she’s a Faller herself. Why doesn’t she know yet? Wouldn’t Looker tell her? Or Nanu?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It would appear as Interpol learned something after all these years, and isn’t really using her as Bait as they did before with the first Faller. Anabel is said to have autonomy over this and chose to save the UBs from a worse fate. Unlike the first Faller, she was properly trained for the UB Task Force missions and for many other Interpol related missions as her own strong, resourceful agent. However, Interpol is still quiet about her status as a Faller and anything relating to them from the past.
And Looker, years after the incident with Guzzlord, is now met with an Anabel with a newly built Interpol life determined to help people, Pokemon, and UBs in need no matter what. She absolutely believes in her successes and her cause. And she is adamant of going on these missions. Looker grows a bond with her and is faced with this troubling realization;
To tell her the truth would mean to collapse the whole world upon her.
After all... Having rebuilt her life, seeing her so confident, so passionate about what she’s doing... He sees her succeed in something he feels all too familiar with-- Starting from the bottom and creating an identity, somehow.
Tumblr media
Having been found in the Battle Resort, washed ashore with no memory, not even a name to go by. Looker knows her pain more than anyone else. She needs to know about what she is going through-- But the uttermost pain she will feel and the lingering eyes of Interpol’s heads has been keeping him mortified and silent.
So he does anything and everything in his power to protect her in the meantime, before she can be told the truth. And with the way the Alola mission went, that time is coming up real soon.
Tumblr media
However, with the protag and Nanu’s help the UB Task Force finally had every UB under control. And Anabel was kept safe and sound, much to Looker’s relief. They can finally enjoy some time off and no doubt will be in for quite a long, painful, but necessary conversation when the time comes.
Not of course before Looker going off into a slight panic over the idea of Anabel going on a date.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And that was the line that made me totally think “Oh yep, yep! Looker’s got a massive crush on her!”
SO! What’s the take away from all this madness??
The fact that Looker and Anabel care deeply for one another so much, as they go far too out of their way to protect each other from harm. Not just out of necessity, but their banter clearly shows that there’s a deeper connection between the two than just a professional coworker one.
You might argue that Looker is only worrying about her this deeply because of what he went through all those years ago and is trying to prevent the same thing from happening, and yet... He’s grown to appreciate and know Anabel for who she is. She is in fact her own agent that joined Interpol on her own volition and chose to do the UB missions due to her empathy to the lost beings so far from home.
Tumblr media
He knows when she’s unwell, he knows why she hides it away. He understands her as a person and it’s wonderful how much they show that they grew to have a bond with one another. Enough for both of them to catch on to each other’s quirks and feel comfortable.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The small giggle that she gives him, the small yet playfully affectionate jab, the way it just says “Oh there he goes again thinking about the feast at this time... Just Looker being Looker~” Because she also knows him deeply as well! This man is not one of her best allies but one of her most trusted companions in this new life of hers and it shows!!
They’re each other’s most trusted companions and their partnership is just wonderful to see.
Of course, romance can’t happen between them yet-- Not until Anabel knows the truth about Fallers and what Interpol did long ago. But let’s be honest, even the big angst/hurt/comfort fest that would come from that conversation would be a whirlwind of emotions that would just end up with them having an even stronger relationship than they’ve ever had before.
It’s not just that they look wonderful together, complement each other, and such-- It’s all those things plus the backstory and close bond and tragedy that comes from this mission. It makes me want to see them overcome every hurdle and be happy with one another and have all the joy and happiness they deserve after all they’ve been through.
I want to see them in more situations where they can be casual with one another, fight alongside one another, and so on so forth. They just have so much potential and I really think Game Freak sees it too.
And as for a lil bonus, Looker in USUM finding out the protag is the champion but is more impressed with Anabel’s knowledge than the actual champion. Also they’re always vacationing together mutually huh hmm wowie?

ron is back on his LOTR bullshit again!
the characters the archives crew and co. would assign themselves when watching LOTR would change dramatically in PBR, and i’m going to scream.
EDIT: I HAD TO FIX THIS SO MUCH SINCE LAST YEAR BECAUSE SO MANY DYNAMICS CHANGED LOL.
tim is still boromir but it’s worse. i can’t even elaborate you already know my feelings on this comparison. it’s just, like. so much worse here.
the issue is he switches to aragorn after the first movie because of [SPOILERS].
gerry is aragorn. running from his bloodline, doubtful of whether he can hold up when he takes that responsibility, ran off to be a ranger despite his actual status/expectations, handsome goth. it starts off as a joke because tim is flirting with him but then they realize it actually makes sense and they go ._. he’s so... soft spoken but so steady in everything he says, so certain even in his own uncertainty, he’s so Gentle with people but he’s always encouraging them and telling the truth. like. half of his spoken words are almost whispers but he makes such silly faces and laughs with people and has human worries and gets lost sometimes but always always always tries to do the right thing and take care of everyone he can. he almost pushes love away because he doesn’t want people to sacrifice things in order to love him and be with him but g-d he needs them.
i will say he switches to arwen afterward though in weird mirror with tim because he just wants to be the pretty wife sometimes and also she spends a lot of it crying and draped on a couch and he just goes honestly, mood sometimes. can i get a chaise and a husband with some stubble i’d like to retire peacefully and tim goes yes ma’am.
jon is. well. jon is pippin! he isn’t in the same position as frodo and wouldn’t take on that exact storyline/association because he’s not the archivist, for one, but he has a bunch of other things going on. originally when i made this post i had him as arwen for slightly more serious reasons because of an emphasis on his growing up with vast!miriam and also his generally kind of esoteric atmosphere but Times Have Changed and let’s be real. the pippin and gandalf dynamic is a Meaner version of how he trails after adelard and Will absolutely mess up eventually because he just gets too ahead of himself and touches evil things he shouldn’t BUT. end of the day he’s actually so smart and brave and is doing his g-d damn best and yes in PBR he’s a lot goofier because he’s got enough breathing room to be. he’s just pippin.
martin is sam, still, because he’s been kinning him since he was like 12 in a very genuine sense and isn’t actually bothered at all by no one currently being frodo because when they watch LOTR in PBR canon it’s like very soon after his induction into the archives so the relationships haven’t quite built yet. i cannot even go too deep into WHY martin is sam because the essay would be So Long but we all kind of know this one already.
sasha claims eowyn. not because she has some weird crush on gerry or anything but [gestures to her entire thing about wanting to fight for the people she loves and also being the singular most badass character in the ENTIRE trilogy.] she was raised by a loving guardian (théoden be my dad) like how i imagine her family dynamics being, she is SO capable and strong but so graceful and beautiful and just a wonderful fucking character why WOULDN’T sasha wanna be her. “i am no man” kneecapped us all.
melanie is merry! the first of the hobbits to actually get serious when things start to look suspicious, but so sunny and courageous and lively when he’s at rest! he’s often put into positions of needing to be the mature one, to take care of other people, to make decisions he shouldn’t have to make, and sometimes he’s judgmental or harsh but ultimately he just wants to defend his friends and fight for his people and do his part to contribute and be taken seriously. points to melanie and her family history, her aptitude for communication and her desire to be respected in her field, and also how she pals around with sasha to do cool shit later that i’m not revealing just yet :-) i’ll leave the friendship with jon to your imaginations.
georgie is legolas, because she claims him purely to fuck with everyone. she claims him and they go “what. why?” and she’s like um Isn’t It Obvious? and jon joins in without missing a beat like “yeah, it’s actually sort of glaring. it’s kind of insulting that none of you know her well enough to see it? for shame.” and melanie catches on and goes yeah jeez and everyone else is trying so hard to understand but they’re all just pulling this elaborately obtuse prank with no end goal. ultimately she just accepts and enjoys being the guy who was never given any actual cues a lot of the time and was just told to stand somewhere and say a line so he looks very distant and confused so much of the time but Somehow ALWAYS knows what’s going on anyway? he’s hilarious. he’s so fucking funny. he has his shit together on the surface but DEFINITELY DOES NOT in his head and georgie’s like word that’s very relatable. also i would love to prance around shooting things with arrows. that shield slide? i could do it.
and for some random characters like. tim and martin argue over which interns are who and like try to place random acquaintances/staff as other people and jon is here like “who the hell is jacob from accounting.” but apparently he’s a LOT like haldir or something. who knows.
and now outside of them watching it and actively kinsigning, this by extension means that other people have roles in this based on these assignments! i am emo.
adelard is gandalf. old, wise, guiding light, dies tragically too early and leaves everyone feeling very lost. but his visage (literally for gandalf, more figuratively for adelard) returns in times of great need and continues taking part in the fight. everyone trusts and respects him so deeply and he’s always getting into crazy shit behind the scenes this old man is not some neatly refined stiff gandalf can PARTY and SO CAN ADELARD. they are ROWDY BY DEFINITION. they will DESTROY you. gandalf and the balrog is just adelard vs amherst except instead of a cool sword he has a cement mixer.
which means gertrude is elrond. she’s the one sending them on this “quest” after all, she’s at the head of the war council. also, makes the way that he tries to hem arwen in and keep her from what she wanted most pretty sad the big difference though is elrond actually loves his daughter and gertrude is just a jackass. love and light<3
will i tell you who the frodo figure is? no<3 but there is definitely a frodo figure.
michael is gollum. “you were not so very different from a hobbit once.” the multitudes he contains, the discord in his identity and the way he splits himself into pieces, the way like... some part of him kind of wants to help, but there’s another that’s just too deeply fucked up by the Powers That Be to ever fully get away from it. also follows the protags around being like. dubiously helpful depending on the situation, but overall still a pretty dangerous and complicated individual who doesn’t just end up being won over by the good left in him; he doesn’t pull through that. he couldn’t.
and also there will definitely be some kind of moment where elias tries to fuck around with them and tim turns around like “he thinks he’s so cool because he can see inside men’s minds because galadriel can. but he is not galadriel.” and everyone just agrees that elias WISHES he was galadriel, but could never be.
OKAY ALSO. returning to aragorn 1 and his bf boromir and aragorn 2 and his gf arwen.
boromir and aragorn WERE in love. you know that one scene in lothlorien when boromir is talking about gondor and how much he loves it there and wants to save it, and basically says, “come home with me.” that the city will say, “the lords of gondor have returned.” like my buddy that WAS proposal adjacent. y’all have been on this road trip for such a long time. might as well get married!
in PBR gerrytim are the first relationship to establish and it IS relatively like. okay we spend so much fucking time together i can’t avoid knowing things about you that make it impossible to Not get attached, fuck. so yeah, don’t think about boromir’s death with this context that shit hurted. don’t think about how aragorn saying he will not let the white city fall, “nor our people fail” was basically a callback to and acceptance of that pseudo-proposal. that was literally him saying he loved him and would have gone with him and this is his last chance to say it.
that’s not to say that anyone proper dies in PBR like this! but there is definitely some drama!!!! you’ll have to wait and see but Yeah! gerrytim are cute as all HELL but there is a lot going on with them and them watching this fucking movie (since boromir is only in ONE) is like. half hilarious flirting and trying to embarrass each other, half holding hands under a blanket because some bits hit a little close to home.
then they just fight over who kins aragorn in the rest of them because tim is kinless now and so they just bicker about finding gerry a new kin when tim is like “sasha said it’s MY turn on the aragorn.” and gerry is like i have the range to be both aragorn AND arwen and tim can’t even argue.
Alright! Did Not Expect To Go Fuck Wild With This Post But Here I Am. i love how different the assignments would be given the AU kjfndkjfndk like YES! CANON JON IS FRODO WITHOUT A DOUBT! but not here! not here! here, he puts his hands on all SORTS of spooky orbs he ain’t supposed to!
in the words of galadriel herself, “the world is changed.” boy! sure is!

Note
Still not comfortable coming off anon, but I wanted to thank you for your kind words. You're absolutely right. Those two sadistic psychos managed to write Jon Snow doing the one thing that was guaranteed to send me spiraling. If I told anyone else in my life that stupid show had me on my living room floor bawling my eyes out on SEVERAL occasions they'd look at me like I was crazy. (1/?)
But I did trust Jon, I put my faith in him because there was nothing in Jon that resembled my father - who abused me, my sister, and my mother. But then at the end, it was like that was all I could see when I looked at him. D&D are literally devils, ugh. I hope their careers rank and this travesty haunts them for the rest of their lives.
                                          .  .  .
You're very welcome, anon. That’s what I’m here for. ♥
I don't hate or even dislike many things if I'm being honest... and aside from say, human injustices, there isn't anything I hate more than D&D right now. I don't think that I quite grasped just how far-reaching fiction could be until I saw what they did to the fanbase - me included.
I remember when I found out the leaks were true. I was sitting at my kitchen table awaiting a delivery. I had read the leaks, and my phone vibrated - someone sent a spoiler video of Rhaegal's death. I knew in that moment every word was true of what they did to Daenerys, and I just broke down. My husband happened to come into the room at that exact moment and he didn't have a clue how to handle my reaction - which admittedly looked a bit unhinged. Because while he liked the show as a casual viewer, he's never fallen in love with a fictional character to the degree that they felt like they were a part of him. It felt like something inside of me had been ripped out and set on fire right in front of my eyes. It had me questioning everything I thought I knew.
And not even just Daenerys or Jon. Sure, I may be a trash shipper, but I'm also a very hardcore fangirl. I had an investment in dozens of characters and the future of their houses. I had an investment in prophecies and theories and mysteries that were never addressed, I had an investment in the state of Westeros, in the MESSAGE that this globally impactful series would have on actual earth - and just... my heart was bruised and battered. In the end, there was nothing. No answers, no resolution, no message.
Or perhaps worse yet, like in your case, it affirmed the worst about people and relationships. If there was a message to be had in Game of Throne's ending it's: don't bother to be a good person because it doesn't pay off, don't make friends because you can only trust family, love isn't real or worthwhile, revolution is evil, don't try to change because who you are was predetermined at birth and there's no escaping it... and I don't even want to get into what the message might be regarding mental illness... because it's too gross to even type.
If themes are for eighth-graders, then David Benioff basically admits that his aptitude as a writer is at a level lower than that of a child. 👍
I'm happy to hear that, at least prior to season eight, there was nothing in Jon that resembled those who abused you. If nothing else, that might just bode well for his book counterpart. Yet I'm still devastated to hear that by turning Jon into a traitor, the writers left you no choice but to see your abusers in him whenever you see him. We watch fiction to escape from that. 😞
I think most Dany fans put their trust in Jon because well, she did. As a fellow Dany fan, I'm sure you would agree that she hasn't been wrong about much - and she's been particularly good at judging men and their motivations. So, not only are the writers telling us that we were wrong about Jon Snow all that time - but that Dany was wrong, too. And not just about that, but everything. They really argued that taking justice out on evil men was bad. But of course, these were the writers that thought the perfect ending to Missandei's story, a freed slave, was to have her die not only in captivity but in chains.
Similarly, it's an insult to Jon's judgment, too. Even people who hate Jon and can't forgive him must at least agree that he was right when he put all of his eggs in the Daenerys basket. After all - she proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that she was an altruistic and selfless leader who would use her power to save others - even a handful of men - showing no hint of regret for her decision to help others even though it cost her dearly.
Luckily, we have countless critics who have spoken out about these inconsistencies with the writing. About how tone-deaf it was. I know D&D's careers won't be ruined by this, unfortunately, even though they've proven themselves as incapable writers. The epic failure of their choices, however, will absolutely haunt them throughout their career and will forever be a stain on their legacy, as it should be.
Woooo, guess I still had a lot to get off my chest!

What’s their personal philosophy?  Do they even have one?
A: David’s philosophy on life can be more or less be summed up in a single word: humor. Though deridingly sarcastic to those he doesn’t like, David is very witty, clever, and easy going. However, as becomes a pattern for him, often times he uses this natural humor and socialization to deflect from his own problems and hide away the fact that he feels a great deal of pain and guilt over his missing brother.
How do they feel about their status and reputation as the curse-breaker in the school?
A: David did not go to Hogwarts with a mission to find the vaults, which was just rumor at the time. He ached to find Jacob, but tried to adhere to his parents request that he not cause trouble. This, of course, did not happen, and as time goes on David more or less embraces the role of ‘curse-breaker’ and the responsibility that comes along with it. He does not seek attention, but does enjoy the fact that girls find him attractive.
Did they get sorted into the Hogwarts House they expected to?  Did the Sorting Hat have any problems sorting them?  Or did it not even have to touch their head?
A: David was relatively indifferent about which House he was sorted into and made that known in his private discussion with the Sorting Hat. The only house he dislikes is Slytherin and being a pure blood who saw the first war, knows of its dark reputation. It took the hat two minutes to sort David, but found his fearlessness was his most defining quality and decided to put him into Gyrffindor.
What are their coping strategies for dealing with everything (the Vaults, Jacob, etc.), if they have any?
A: David is somewhat contradictory. When it comes to finding the vaults, protecting his friends, and doing the right thing, he is largely decisive and endears himself as a leader. When it comes to his own emotions and dealing with familial issues, he’s deflective and silent. When pressed on his own troubles, he clams up and will either give a joke or change the subject. He has never been very good at expressing negative emotion and therefore when he fails to hold it back, it often explodes in the form of raw anger or tears
What electives do they take throughout their time at Hogwarts?
A: He takes Care of Magical Creatures and Ancient Runes. He is not a fan of creatures, however, and only takes the class in order to talk Quidditch with Charlie. He later drops it and takes Divination instead in order to get an easy grade.
Are they in any clubs or extracurricular activities?  What about Quidditch?
A: Penny has invited him before to be in the Potions club, and though he will attend on occasion, does not officially join. Due to his curse breaking adventures, David has little time for anything extra curricular until 6th year, when Charlie invites him to join the Gryffindor Quidditch team as a beater, a position he largely excels at. Along with Charlie, Oliver Wood, and Sky Parkin, the Lions win the cup.
How studious are they?  What kind of studying strategies do they use?  Do they have any study groups with their friends?
A: David is quite enthusiastic about the subjects he excels in, though he is not a ‘bookworm’ like Rowan or some of his Ravenclaw friends. Often study groups are formed with the pretext of talking about something else, namely the vaults. However, he will join Rowan, Tulip, and even Merula on occasion to legitimately go over the books.
How willing are they when it comes to breaking school rules?
A: Unlike Tulip and Tonks, David does not go out of his way to break rules and doesn’t see himself as a rebel against authority figures. That being said, he has no issue bending/breaking them if he a) feels it’s to his advantage b) believes there is something greater at stake such as the safety of his friends or finding the vaults. Upon becoming a prefect, David finds this method much more difficult to follow as he has to navigate upholding his charges while also finding a new way to get around things so as to not lose his position.
Do they hang out with any of their friends over breaks?  If so, which one(s) and what do they do?
A: David does not get to hang out with any of his friends over Christmas or Summer break until his fourth year when his parents take a trip to the United States during the month of December. His mom can be quite restrictive and prefers to keep an eye on her son out of fear of losing him as she did with Jacob. After his sixth year, David spent a week with the Weasley family, immensely enjoying their company. Though he was curious, Merula refused to allow him to visit her lonely manor. This was somewhat out of safety concerns, but also because she was embarrassed and did not want David meeting her aunt.
After they graduate, do they fall off the map and keep a low profile?  Or do they continue to exist in the public eye?
A: Following graduation, David trains for three years to become an Auror and succeeds. He’s not necessarily in the public eye, but he’s never out of it either. Though not an attention seeker by nature, he also doesn’t shy away from it.
How does their career path differ from what they thought they’d be doing?  Or does it differ at all?
A: ‘Curse-Breaker’ was a designation that David accepted but never truly embraced over his time at Hogwarts. It was Tonks who convinced him that his talents and interests were better served in Law Enforcement as the Auror office only takes the best of the best.
Do they have any hobbies?  What about any talents or aptitudes?
A: David loves a pint at a pub, Quidditch matches, and going to concerts with his girlfriend and later wife, Merula. He is also quite fond of cooking various steaks and pork chops, a skill Jae later taught him when he began to live on his own. Believe it or not, he is also a talented singer, though he prefers to give way to Merula on that score, allowing her his spot on the Frog Choir. Though not enthralled at academics, David is talented in Transfiguration, Herbology, Potion Making, and Defense Against the Dark Arts. Most notably, he is one of the best duelers during his time at Hogwarts.
Do they have any favorite spells?
A: David is partial to ‘Reducto’ as he can reduce most objects to ash with it. He’ll often do this in private for fun or to vent off steam. Another, more light hearted spell he likes is the ‘Melofors Jinx’ which he uses on Merula and Ismelda more than once over the years (the spell causes the victim’s head to be encased inside of a pumpkin).
What’s one thing they did or thought as a child that they later look back and cringe about?
A: David has extremely mixed feelings about how often he used to idolize his brother. He still does to some extent, but by the time he enters his first year, it’s rather hollow and can’t help but feel a tremendous amount of guilt about Jacob and the fact that he was the only hero he ever had growing up.
If they could travel anywhere at all in the world—money, time, and language not being an issue—where would they go and who would they take with them?
A: Before Jacob’s disappearance, the Grant family took several holidays, one of which was in Normandy, France. David dreams of buying a small cottage there and take trips with his one and only love, Merula. David has also been to America and was quite fond of New York, finding the relative anonymity a perfect place to hide out if one were a wizard looking to avoid attention.
If they’re an Animagus, how easy was becoming one for them?  Were they happy with their Animagus form?  Or did they want it to be something different?
A: David never becomes an Animagus in my story.
Do they like what they see in the mirror?
A: David carries a cocky streak laced with vanity and knows he’s handsome to many young witches at Hogwarts. He knows and appreciates his own talent. But in terms of his own self, there is a great deal of doubt: his life, career, the vaults, family, finding his brother. Due to Jacob’s disappearance, David still feels like it was his fault that something went wrong and that his parents’ marriage became strained to the point of near divorce. He avoids these issues for the most part, never acknowledging them unless seriously prompted or pushed.
How good are they at taking compliments?
A: Very normal for the most part.
How much do they trust their friends?
A: David gets along with his friends, but due to his own inability to let go of the guilt and pain he felt when Jacob left, he does not like revealing his innermost secrets to people. He avoids talking about his somewhat unstable family life, which has become strained, stifling, and gray. He would trust his best friends in almost any other category, however, including battle or information about the vaults.
Are they pretty self-reliant?  Or do they like to go to their friends for help?
A: It’s a mix. David is not one to be a martyr but he does have an obsessive streak which has a tendency to push people out when not careful. All in all, he’s very thankful for the assistance he receives from his friends
Who is their favorite Weasley?  Or can they not choose?
A: David likes the Weasleys equally and enjoys Bill and Charlie in their own way, the former for being a surrogate older brother, the second for his down to earth nature and general friendliess. Fred and George are something of a nuisance with their pranks which make his job as Prefect twice as hard, however, he does hold a soft spot for them after they help him find a few secret passage ways as an apology. He does have a least favorite Weasley by the end though: Percy, whom he regards as a whiner and a tattletale.
What’s the thing they like least about themselves?
A: Despite contrasting himself frequently with Jacob, David also knows he shares a similar impulsive streak that has threatened to get him into serious trouble more than once. He’s also a sucker for women and though he never cheats on Merula, he does seek out other girls when the two break up or when they aren’t together. He also has a hidden guilt complex: everything that goes wrong in his family and relationship life he blames himself.
What’s the thing they like most about themselves?
A: David enjoys his ability to be quick with a joke and get along with most people. He’s naturally good at most things (with a few exceptions) and prides himself on being attractive to girls who see him as something of a sexy bachelor. He also comes to realize he’s a natural leader and that people tend to gravitate towards him when a dangerous or difficult situation comes around.
How bad is their temper?  Do they tend to lash out at others or themselves?
A: David is not temperamental and not easily angered due to his good nature and sense of humor. However, if pushed too far, a quiet rage and tenacity overtakes his mind, blocking out all else until the episode is over. His anger is usually in response to something else- bullying, bigotry, or attacks against his family. During Year 6, David lashes out far more frequently than he usually does, alienating himself somewhat from his longtime friends. He mends the relationships later on, after discovering he was often his own worst enemy and critic.
What’s their biggest regret in life, if they have any?
A: Two in particular. He wishes he could have been there to prevent Jacob from leaving. The second is the way he handled his first break up with Merula. He felt it was his fault for letting her get tortured by Rakepick, but his own inability to solve the problem and Merula’s own stubbornness led to their parting of ways.
What kind of first impression do they tend to leave on others?
A: Carefree, funny, and witty with a zest for life.
What is the achievement they’re most proud of?
A: Even throughout his curse breaking adventures, David is most proud of his becoming an Auror and somehow convincing Merula to become his wife.
Do they like having photos taken of themselves?
A: David has a knack for taking goofy photos.
What’s one big way that your MC differs from the in-game canon?
A: I feel David Grant definitely has a more sarcastic streak and is not quite as much of a stickler. But all in all, he’s got personality. Most people’s MC’s are pretty much brand generic hero character. David, while a hero, is also a deeply flawed, wise cracking, cocky, baggage ladden teen. That reaches its peak during Years 5 and 6 and it’s only during Year 6 he manages to let go of much of the anguish he was holding onto in order to become a more complete person
What does their name mean and why did you choose it?
A: David is a common Anglo/American name that derives of course from the Hebrew King David in the Torah/Bible. I chose it for two reasons 1) it seemed to fit well with the last name I had in mind 2) it’s also my father’s name, and I modeled the character partially after him
If they’re an Animagus, why did you choose the form for them that you did?
A: David did not choose to become an animagus
How has your MC changed since you first created them?
A: Though I am still in the process of writing the story, David will go through many ups and downs before completing his arc. As an eleven year old first year, he is a curious, funny, talented, but guarded person and those traits become more intense/exaggerated as he gets older. His arc doesn’t come full circle until Year 6.
How well do you think you and your MC would get on?
A: At times really well and other times not. He is modeled after myself in many ways, but David has a higher degree of confidence, leadership, and withholds his feelings as opposed to me, a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve. I’m sensitive by nature, he’s not. But we do share a few talents- singing music, being generally good at sports and watching it, bar trivia, cooking, etc. The thing that we share above all is passion about a topic we enjoy that can become a full blown obsession. I have that feature to my person and so does David. All in all, as adults I would like David a lot and I think he would like me too.

Director Frustration #3 - Have I Hit the Ceiling As a CEO?
A few CEOs and affiliations, are in a general sense better than most at making results. What have they gets it? Likely, they have fathoms how to address four key dissatisfactions, any of which is set okay with avoiding the sound judgment of the CEO and right now collusion:
My official get-together isn't performing.
We need essential execution.
Our business results are not incredible.
Have I Hit the Ceiling as a CEO?
These four issues can make CEOs completely crazy. Why? Since the CEO is the individual by and large affected by the signs of these issues; yet, the CEO is the standard individual with the vested situation to reveal the upgrades required to move the relationship past each challenge. Duty lies truly on the work region of the CEO. In case these four frustrations are tended to effectively, CEOs will most likely watch two pleasing outcomes: (1) improvement in the conceded results of their affiliations, and (2) widened particular satisfaction in their occupations brent saunders .
This article pivots around the rest of these four disappointments.
President FRUSTRATION #4: HAVE I HIT THE CEILING AS A CEO?
Anyway more valuable than various leveled in nature, this misunderstanding has genuine impact on the results an affiliation can make. Every official "beat out" at some point or another, including the CEO. From time to time, the association ceaselessly makes past the most remote purpose of the CEO. Various events, the CEO basically needs to learn new points of confinement and expansion additional comprehension to make with the connection. The two conditions are proportionally trying.
If you fight with this foul up, it obviously shows itself as one of the going with:
Feeling that you have hit your own limit as a CEO and pioneer.
Having an inclination that you are swimming in water over your head.
Pondering whether you have the right style or character to be the CEO.
The Owner correspondingly as Founder should be CEO, isn't that so?
Feeling That You Have Hit Your Personal Limit as a CEO and Leader
Everybody has depictions of vulnerability concerning their ability to beat needs in given jobs and assignments. Chief are no novel case. Truth be told, CEOs are obviously reasonably exhibited to such demands in setting on the astounding load of offers put upon them. They feel steady strain to have all the fitting reactions, fix what's happening, and produce cash related results in a through and through confirmed and quickly changing business part condition.
In like manner, the CEO is a guaranteed model for the entire association. Scott McNealy, prime supporter and past CEO of Sun Microsystems, starting late commented that when you join high-paid, especially unquestionable spots of power, you have to live "past yourself." near the day's end, you should display capacity to set aside explicit requirements, focuses, and inclinations, acting so to talk character and reasonableness - steadily. Not so much at work, before delegates, at any rate every single see of every single day, out in the open and in private.
These are uncommonly wonderful necessities. Thusly, it ought not amaze anybody that various CEOs wonder if they have hit their own most unavailable point. "Am I purged to complete this commitment?" "Should I be at the present time?" have likely asked yourself these sales.
Having a penchant that You Are Swimming in Water Over Your Head
The offers of a CEO position can be covering. Overwhelmed CEOs may figure they don't have the right gadgets to complete their commitment, regardless a remarkable bit of the time, they basically need to all the essentially certain hold what their development should be.
All CEOs - whether or not they be the business visionaries who started their affiliations or managers who rose through the positions - have gone to their position having encompassed a specific degree of points of confinement. The normal penchant is to keep doing whatever made them advantageous in past assignments, at any rate the activity of CEO isn't really equivalent to various occupations.
Do you ever consider about your activity as CEO? Do you ever expand that you don't have the right gadgets to fill the development suitably? Do you don't have the experience or express aptitudes required for your activity? These are just a couple of occasions of contemplations that produce the unimaginably hostile doubt of doing combating to keep your head above water.
Considering Whether You Have the Right Style or Personality to Be CEO
This is a normal mental catch for CEOs who are feeling overwhelmed by the task before them. Feeding this acknowledgment further is the anticipated media stream of star CEOs and masters. They everything considered have all the stores of being on a very basic level picked, mind blowing, striking, inhumane, and charming individuals, and fulfilling their "model" is acceptable to drive any CEO to ludicrous degrees of self-question. "If what those people state and do are what's required to be beneficial," you may state to yourself, "by then I'm in a tough situation."
You ought to urge yourself to review that there is no single "right" style required to be a profitable CEO. Reason for truth, style and character add to if all else fails accomplishment, yet they are by all record by all record by all record by all account not the only parts or even the most tremendous ones.
The Owner likewise as Founder Should Be CEO, Right?
Being a connection's owner or coordinator doesn't conventionally qualify someone to be CEO. The capacities with respect to a convincing CEO depend upon express aptitudes and experiences - none of which are required to start or have a business.
Ownership is only a fiscal purpose of repression, regardless the limits concerning ownership and authority now and again exist in an equivalent individual at the levels basic for a little or new business. As a union makes, notwithstanding, the principal originator may see he is unfit as CEO.
Reasonably barely any specialists make it from start-up to Fortune 500 CEO. Michael Dell, Bill Gates, Scott McNealy and Steve Jobs have done it, yet even they have adjusted their different occupations as their affiliations made and changed. For quite a while, Michael Dell introduced activity responsibilities to Kevin Rollins; Bill Gates has moved from driving Microsoft's standard exercises to a continuously essential degree a headway visionary occupation; and Steve Jobs was moved out of Apple years sooner before additional starting late being brought again into the affiliation.
The best methodology to HELP THIS ISSUE GET BETTER
Apparently, self-question is one of the most generally observed bothers for CEOs of making affiliations. We was unable to envision anything superior to offer a searing and direct strategy, yet it doesn't exist. Beating self-weakness and seeing how to be a convincing CEO requires a raised degree of requesting, and that puts aside some push to make. You have to constantly set aside the exuberant offers of the business and put time in working up your own abilities and requesting. The going with rules may be valuable to you in dealing with this mistake.
1. Develop the Habit of Continuous Learning
In his article, "Why Entrepreneurs Don't Scale," John Hamm notes four reasons why experts fight to lead their relationship as they make in size and multifaceted nature:
Silly duty to partners
Undertaking heading
Resolve
Working in withdrawal
These reasons is instructive, and we interface with you read the entire article. Near with our present discussion, notwithstanding, note that none of them are extremely dependent upon establishment, utmost, or farthest point.
Or on the other hand maybe, Hamm says the representatives who scale adequately make cognizant walks while in travel to go up against their own insufficiencies. The route in to this is when in doubt constantly open to learning.
2. Augmentation capacity with the Right Disciplines
As you handle steady learning, start with made by Jim Collins, Patrick Lencioni, and Verne Harnish, each and every clear master who demonstrate the enormous controls fundamental for any CEO to be productive. These requesting should what's more be advised and persistently strengthened to your official get-together. Models include:
Engage a couple of key exercises over the association as opposed to reliably influencing start with one advancement then onto the going with.
Set two or three clear needs.
Impact a "to stop doing" list.
Creation a culture of trust that engages better task.
Development capacity with the right requesting to present.
Develop the tendency for addressing a more observable number of sales than you offer reactions.
Regardless of these authorities, Peter Drucker is a stupendous wellspring of business and activity information. We insistently demand that you analyze (and re-read a critical piece of the time) his article entitled "What Makes an Effective Executive."
3. Make Building a Strong Executive Team Your First Habit
This is the rule request in The Four Obsessions of An Extraordinary Executive by Patrick Lencioni, and our experience drives us to agree this is the focal solicitation that a CEO should learn. The concealed improvement is finding the fortunate people for the authority get-together, and the consequent headway is getting them to arrange reasonably. Acing this requesting:
spreads the responsibility with respect to results among a progressively noticeable get-together. The CEO must have help to adequately achieve required results.
produces a model of requesting for the entire coalition.

Warriors of Waterdeep Guide
Warriors of Waterdeep Guide is a guide for a prevalent new game. Your gathering comprises of 4 characters. You can pick your best legends to battle AI foes in investigation mode. In any case, in PvP "Fight" mode, 4 characters are haphazardly chosen from your list 3. When battling trolls, skeletons and other grouped foes, focus on their "fight clock" or turn meter. The hexagon-formed turn meter is found simply over a foe. It tops off in each turn and when its full, the foe assaults. Watch out for sparkling hexagons above adversaries - these recommends that foes will play out an activity or assault once your saints' turn closes. Directly from the off, you can tell this fair offers some additional something from the standard. Despite everything you're picking which foe to assault, expertise to utilize, and position to take up on the war zone, however every last bit of it has that magnificent D&D turn, or should we say shake, of the bones. Pretty much every move you make in Warriors of Waterdeep can trigger an optional reward impact. Assault an adversary and you may get a reward second follow-up assault, move and you may insult your foes, buff adversaries and you may very well recuperate them as well. It will be really troublesome until you get more levels and update your riggings a smidgen, yet in time and with devotion you will most likely do everything. After you complete the initial two prisons, you will get enough EXP to step up your legends (and furthermore by redesigning apparatuses) and you will probably open a couple new characters. You ought to be cautious however on the grounds that at the supervisor levels you have to play it cautiously, as the managers are entirely extreme! The game needs a web association with work, even in single player, which can be truly irritating. I've been sat utilizing WiFi and the game has taken an age to enlist a move, notwithstanding when I haven't been playing against genuine individuals. Warriors of Waterdeep does what's necessary with its permit that it has the vibe, at any rate, of D&D. In the event that you're expecting an undeniable rendition of the tabletop game, at that point you will be baffled - this is an allowed to play, basic RPG that is spruced up in the trappings of its motivation. Why? Since Dungeons and Dragons is astounding, and we're a portable gaming site. Which carries us to Warriors of Waterdeep. Dissimilar to the effectively out-there Lords of Waterdeep, this one isn't a tabletop game adjustment - it's a pristine encounter set in one of the most famous dream settings at any point made. In any case, is it in reality any great? All things considered, it has its minutes, however there are dark spots en route that you ought to consider before you get excessively profound into the experience. Any individual who's played a versatile RPG over the most recent few years will comprehend what's happening here. I propose that you generally attempt to keep your saints as solid as could reasonably be expected, on the grounds that that is going to enable you to endure longer. Additionally, another motivation behind why you should attempt to keep your saints alive for whatever length of time that conceivable (ideally all through the battle) is so they can get EXP toward the finish of the prison, alongside the remainder of the legends. However, that probably won't be conceivable consistently, so simply attempt your best! When you complete the prisons, you will be remunerated with different things, all which can be found in chests. You'll open this once you get your fourth saint and thrashing Bonebreaker. It utilizes a similar turn-based strategic fight framework however the field is littler than your ordinary stage arrangement. This is live PvP, which means the other group is really constrained by a player, which is the reason you just have 10 seconds to issue directions. On the off chance that you neglect to move your assigned legend inside that time span, he/she will push one zone ahead, if capable. At that point the clock for your next activity will be sliced down the middle. Raika is essentially a tanky legend, which can work entirely well if outfitted with great riggings. At an opportune time you probably won't see her tanky capacities (they didn't generally work for me at any rate), yet on the off chance that you need a dispensable legend, at that point it may work. I feel that on the off chance that you figure out how to get the best defensive layer for Raika, she should be utilized in the group since she can insult the foes, which is a quite helpful capacity particularly in the event that you can tank two or three hits. Development isn't excessively limited. Essentially, insofar as there is an open space in an adjoining zone, incorporating the one they're in, characters can move to it. Notwithstanding, a zone effectively involved by a character can't be entered by the rival side, regardless of whether there's an open space. Along these lines, it's conceivable to stop the developments of adversaries just as get obstructed by them. This can be utilized to forestall skirmish characters from connecting with ran units or bind a whole gathering at the edge of the board. Here's a rundown of the room types you're going to experience in the game: Now, what's intriguing here is that once you clear a phase you can never again rehash it. Which means, receiving the benefits (especially those desired gear chests, for example, those supervisor and pioneer packs, is a one-time thing. A remarkable bummer, particularly when gear assumes a major job in the game. Movement in Exploration is likewise firmly connected to Challenge mode yet more on that later. Next up is Battle, this is fundamentally the PvP or Arena method of the game. It chips away at various licenses, and it's made games for brands, for example, How to Train Your Dragon, Jurassic World, Battlestar Galactica, and game shows, for example, The Price Is Right and Press Your Luck (which additionally, in my judgment, are the two best game shows on TV). Cells and Dragons (D&D) is never again an outsider in the computer game office. We've just had a couple of cycles of this notable tabletop RPG, regardless of whether as an immediate adjustment of its universe or its principles. For instance, our Fighter tank would Taunt close-by adversaries while our Cleric mended arbitrary partners. It gives you something some extra to consider versus simply utilizing your most dominant ability and seeking after the best. We found that we regularly selected to move our characters instead of just assault, in the expectations that we'd get a positive bones roll. Complete a level and you'll get showered with remunerations. These incorporate new hardware and gold, just as experience for your characters. This framework doesn't rehash the wheel, however it is important that characters acquire new aptitudes and ability extra impacts from their hardware. This implies even apparently exhausting gear may very well have precisely what you were searching for. There's a wide assortment of modes to finish, all of which play indistinguishably. You can fight through single player battles, take an interest in PvP against a genuine rival's group, or vanquish extraordinary occasions. These pivot like clockwork and give the best rewards, while likewise offering the greater test. The game is a turn-based, strategic, prison crawler, pretending game. You will play it like how you play chess. You can utilize a limit of four saints just every prison or fight session. Every saint has various qualities, shortcomings, and abilities. Every player's (during Battle Mode) turn is dictated by arbitrary toward the start of the game. The RPG component incorporates step up your legends and welding and updating their gear. You can enlist new legends and addition gear by clearing cells in Explore Mode, opening chests picked up from Battle Mode, and taking an interest and finishing journeys in Challenge Mode and Events.

Chapter 2 - The Last Supper
My dad and I are working side by side in the kitchen to prepare dinner. He is humming some kind of tune and the hum is off key but I don’t mind. Mom, who will make some kind of sarcastic remark now and then, doesn’t really mind when he does this either.
Because this will be the last time I am with him like this it is bittersweet. It has always been our job for the cooking. Dad told me the story once of how mom tried to cook and insisted she keep trying when they were just married. Being a former Erudite, she had been so sure it wouldn’t be hard at all and refused to admit that there was something she couldn’t accomplish by just setting her mind to it. After three months of eating toast. Because, in the end, that was all she could salvage, she had given in to my dad.
He became the cook of the family and when I was old enough, I joined him in the kitchen to help and learn. Meals were never fancy or even more than just the basics. That was one faction rule that we could not break. I found I liked cooking though and even more so when someone else was in the kitchen with me.
This dinner would be a special one, not only because it was my last one as a dependent; but because two other families would be joining us as well. Friends of my parents and their children.
Evelyn Eaton and her son Tobias were coming over. Evelyn worked with my parents in the government and had taken the place of her husband after he died. I wouldn’t really call Tobias a friend, not in our faction, more of an acquaintance. He has always been a bit of a loner and introverted. He is in my class at school so we were often put on projects or had lunch together. He didn’t talk much and my mind was always wandering; so we were together more out of comfort than anything. I didn’t pester him to talk and he didn’t tell me to get my head out of the clouds. He stuck with me and let me ramble. Making sure I didn’t do it too much when others were around and draw attention to myself, which I hated as much as he did.
Andrew and Natalie Prior along with their two children; Caleb and Beatrice would be eating with us as well. Andrew worked in the government with both my parents and Evelyn. Natalie did work with the volunteer and the children’s centers. When I did my required faction duties, it was always with Natalie.
My favorite had been working with the children’s center where orphaned faction children as well as children of the factionless that were turned over to the city; were taken care of until homes could be found for them. It was part school, counseling center, daycare, and also where those that needed it would live. When I worked, I was always assigned two areas. Teaching the preschool kids and helping with physical activities. I seemed to be the only one that could keep up with their level of energy.
Caleb and Beatrice are both younger than me. Caleb is just over a year younger while Beatrice is almost two years younger than me. I get along with both of them well but they don’t seem to get along with each other. It isn’t hard to see why when you get them alone.
Caleb is what you call ‘left-brained’. It is a clinical term I found in my studies and mainly Erudite use those kinds of words, but even mom agreed with me when I used him as an example during her quiz she sprung on me.
To be left-brained means that a person is very analytical and methodical. They are the overthinkers, very logical and are thought to be cold or critical in their judgments. From just that small description, it would fit Caleb perfectly but I know there is more to him than that, it just takes a bit to get it out of him. You had to work past that prickly personality of his. It had taken me some time but I managed.
Beatrice was a harder case observation, the subject of my study and comparison, for me. She has tendencies of a left brain but those are interspersed with bouts of exuberance and creativity. She, like me, seems to have energy that just needs to be released or she becomes cranky and irritable. When she got old enough she would often come to the childcare center and help with the playtime activities there.
You might be wondering why a child of Abnegation would even want to know any of those terms or do any of those kinds of studies. The answer to that would be because I am not just a child of Abnegation.
I am the daughter of my former Erudite mother and former Candor father. Their old factions joined the traits of the new and were passed on to me. Before that my mom’s parents were both Erudite born and stayed in there, while my dad’s parents were both transfers into Candor; his father was from Amity and his mother was from Dauntless. Their traits and behaviors were passed on to their children and then from them to me.
I am a child of all the factions. I am divergent.
The biggest change that was made somewhere around when I turned five years old, was the testing that had once been done for faction aptitude was all but rendered useless.
Before a person would go under some kind of test that would spit out one result. Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless or Erudite. A person could never be more than one and if they had a multiple aptitude results, they were what was called divergent. Which was a very dangerous thing….then.
Now it is still a whispered term but one that isn’t as feared as it once was. By changing the way a person was tested for faction aptitude, it got rid of the divergent label. My testing took two months and I had several meetings with appointed faction members from all five factions. In the end, it was determined that the place I would most fit in would be Dauntless.
Something we had known was a possibility for a few years now. I can’t tell if my parents are happy about it but I know my uncle wasn’t exactly pleased. He had always expected me to join him in Erudite but once I indicated that was my choice he has been inundating me with books on things he said will help me. I have been studying all things Dauntless for the last year and feel like my mind is going to explode with all the stuff filling it.
“Avery, would you ask your mom to bring up the box from the root cellar please?” My dad asks in the middle of checking the baked chicken dish in the oven.
My forehead wrinkles in a frown but I nod then answer. “Yes, sir.”
He throws a look over his shoulder at me and shakes his head. “I forget you are doing that Dauntless-mode thing now.”
I shrug with a smile as I go to find my mom. I know I will find her in the room that has been made into a study for the whole family. More often than not that is her space. I find her behind the desk where she is absorbed with something on the laptop she has as a leader and councilwoman. I lean against the doorframe and take a minute to absorb her and this room. One of my other favorite places our home has.
We spend a lot of time here. My dad put a set of bookshelves near the one window in the room and built it up high so that I could sit up on top of the shelves on some cushions he got from somewhere. It was my reading nook and it was high enough up that I referred to it as my eyrie. Up there I would curl up with whatever book or work I had and watch as my parents either did their own work or would read. This was our shared luxury and the part of us we didn’t or couldn’t share with the faction in general.
My mother has her blonde hair pulled back as usual but some of the strands around her face had come loose. Her hair was naturally wavy but because in our faction all women wore their hair pulled back in buns, you wouldn’t know it until at night when she would let it down just before bed. I inherited that from her but I got my fathers deep brown color.
At times when she was so focused on a task, I could just imagine her in Erudite. She would have stayed there I think if she hadn’t been asked to transfer to Abnegation all those years ago. When her blue eyes move over something I can see them taking it in and processing it like the computer she is sitting in front of right now. She told me once she was tested for her IQ like I was at the same age I had been tested. She had smiled with pride when my result came in but she refused to tell me her number. Her brother, Michael, had told me that I was higher than her but she was once the highest in the faction.
If she had stayed, she would have been moved into leadership there. That is the way leadership in Erudite works. If I had gone to Erudite...I probably would have been put into leadership. A shiver works up my spine at that thought. I don’t know if I want to be in leadership of any faction I go to.
“Was there something you needed, dear?” I am once again drawn from my reflections by my mom’s voice. I look at her to see those blue eyes of hers dancing in amusement at me.
Head in the clouds….that is what I am infamous for among my friends and family.
I smile sheepishly back at her and shrug. “Dad said he wanted you to bring some box from the root cellar.”
She gives a start and looks at the time on the simple watch on her arm. “Oh dear. I must have gotten caught up in work. The others will be here soon. Why don’t you go down and start setting the table.”
She is already bustling around the desk and towards me, shooing me out of the door and to the dining room. We break off from each other each to our task, leaving me curious as to what is in the box in the room that usually holds our canned and jarred food.
I start to set the table and before I know it there are knocks at the door as the others start to arrive. Each of the families brings a dish or two for us to eat. They are still simple foods but I can tell the difference in how the others eat by what they bring.
Evelyn and Tobias brought a dish of Brussel sprouts but halved and prepared with slivered almonds and cranberries. The seasoning is light and just a bit of salt, pepper and some kind of olive oil. I don’t even know how they got that.
Natalie and Andrew handed over a basket of rolls that smell wonderful and yeasty. Beatrice blushes as she hands over a covered dish that turns out to be fluffy and steaming cauliflower mash. That is Abnegation’s version of mashed potatoes. Healthier and not a bit decadent by faction standards. I have had the Prior version of them before and they seem pretty good to me.
The rest of the meal was our privilege to provide. Tobias and Evelyn were first to arrive so he helped me to finish setting the table and making sure there were enough chairs for everyone. They had to bring over a few from their house to make room for everyone.
Dinner is a quiet affair. Not uncomfortable but everyone just taking the time to enjoy the food and the small talk exchanged between the adults. My parents have never shied away from discussing government business in front of me and it seems that the other parents are the same. Caleb is paying rapt attention while Beatrice seems to be trying to sneak looks at Tobias without being obvious. It isn’t obvious and I only notice because this is what I do. I people watch. I am an observer of life as my uncle would say. Tobias is oblivious but then again he usually is, or at least I think he is. His head is down and he is focusing on the food as if he might never see a meal like this again.
Then something hits me. We both might never see a meal like this again. A wave of sadness floods me and my fork clatters to the plate. Luckily I was already finished so when everyone glanced my way I was able to make my excuses.
“I am finished and was going to offer to clear the table.” I am grateful my voice is steady as I say this.
The adults all smile while my dad nods and winks at me. “Go ahead Avery, but just you keep away from the box on the counter.”
Well, that is just begging me to take a look.
Beatrice looks up, biting her lower lip a little. “I am done as well, may I help Avery clear the table?”
“That would be wonderful, sweetheart,” Natalie answers with a smile showing a dimple in one of her cheeks.
We both rise and begin collecting plates. Tobias looking awkward when Beatrice accidentally brushes his hand after grabbing his plate. They both blush and I fight back a giggle as I move to the kitchen quickly.
The box sits on the counter, seeming ten times its size just from the sheer temptation of it. Had he never said anything I probably wouldn’t have been so tempted.
“He said that just to tempt you, didn’t he?” Beatrice asks from beside me after she had scraped the little bit of food on the plates into the bag we have set aside for any scraps.
They all get put into a communal pile that is then turned into a homemade fertilizer we make in Abnegation. When there is enough of it we use some of it for the herb and vegetable gardens in our sector. The rest we take to Amity to be added to the ones they use for the farming the entire city relies on.
I am scowling at the box as I nod. “He did.”
I can hear her small laugh from beside me. “Do you really think you can make the box disappear by your scowl alone, Avery?”
“No. But maybe if I concentrate hard enough I can activate enough brain capacity to suddenly develop the ability to see through the box.” I shot her a cheeky grin and see her cover her mouth as she shakes her head trying not to laugh.
“Now I know where the children got the idea of x-ray vision from,” Natalie says from behind us with a smile on her lips. My mother is standing beside her and has her own small smile going on.
“The idea didn’t come from me but one of the stories they were read.” I defended myself, still looking hard at the box.
“Yes, but who read that story to them?” My mother joined in the debate.
I sigh and my shoulders slump in defeat. I guess I will never find out what is in that brown box. “I did.”
“Exactly. Thank you both for clearing the table. Now go join the others in the living room.” My mom said as she once more today was scooting me out of the room.
As Beatrice and I are leaving I hear my mom thanking Natalie for being able to get ‘it’ for the dinner tonight. Whatever it is they are both excited about it.
Dad and Andrew are in a discussion with Caleb about something they had been talking about at dinner. In our faction, after dinner is supposed to be time for the dependents to talk and discuss whatever they would like. My family never adhered strictly to that though there were times when it just happened naturally. Usually, that was when there was something serious going on in the city or in their jobs.
This was one of those times it was more just a natural thing to follow. Tobias, as usual, was farther away from the group. I didn’t have to but I went to join him in one of the single chairs beside him. He relaxed when he realized it was me and sunk back into his seat. We sat in the quiet and listened to the others speak. Until he turned slightly, raised an eyebrow at me and spoke lowly.
“Are you nervous about tomorrow?”
I look at him for a minute before I look at my dad, smiling and talking animatedly with both Caleb and Andrew.
“Nervous? No, I am not nervous.” I reply softly but can’t mask the sad undertone to my words. I look back over to him and ask the same question of him.
He is silent as well but he looks down as he shakes his head. “No. I’m not nervous.” His words aren’t filled with sadness but there is an uneasiness in them.
Before I can question that or him my mom and Natalie come back into the room. They are carrying small plates filled with something that looks a lot like the famous Dauntless cake I have heard bragged about by the kids at school.
“What is this?” Caleb asks in wonder as he is handed his own plate.
“Cake. A friend of mine thought it would be nice for us when he found out Tobias and Avery would be choosing tomorrow.” Natalie replies as they both pass out the remainder of the plates before taking seats with their own.
“This is Dauntless cake, right?” I ask as I pick up my fork.
I see the nod but that is all before I dig in and my eyes widen a little in pleasure. The cake certainly is amazing. Now I can understand why those kids won’t shut up about not having any at the school lunches.
It is something to look forward to. Is that why my mom was excited about Natalie getting some for tonight? Was this her way of showing me one last time that she understood and she supported me?
I must look like a mirror image of Tobias beside me as I keep my head down and concentrate on the slice of chocolate cake on my plate. Every bite I savor slowly, making the entire process of eating that single slice last about a century. I know the others are done around us well before my fork scrapes along the plate for the last time. No one seems to be in any way offended by this but I can tell by the sad looks my father casts to me with his blue-green eyes that he understood.
When I look around the room I can also tell that Evelyn has looked at her son with a tinge of sadness. Will he be leaving the faction tomorrow as well? He has never given the indication he might want or need to but there is so much about him that is a mystery to me.
Too late for me to try and solve that tonight. Once dessert is done, we all know it is time to go our ways for the night. Before she leaves Beatrice puts her hand on my arm and looks at me for a few seconds longer. She looks like she might want to say something but before she can, her mother is putting a hand on her shoulder and squeezing.
“Jeanine, thank you all for having us over to your home on this night.” Natalie turns to me with a smile and nods before she ushers Beatrice out the door, followed closely by Caleb who gives me a lopsided smile. Then Andrew is shaking my father's hand and confirming that he and Natalie would be at the ceremony.
Tobias had already left to take the chairs he had brought from his house back home. Evelyn left soon after as well. It was just my parents and I, the sadness coming back.
Words weren’t needed as dad pulled me close to him for a hug before I was transferred to my mom’s arms. She pulled back and framed my face with her hands. “Go take a hot shower and I will bring you your pill for the night.”
I wrinkled my nose but nodded. “I won’t have those in Dauntless,” I remark softly.
My dad looks at her and something passes in his eyes before she sighs and nods. “They will be available for you in the clinic there should you chose to have them, which I urge you to do. It will be your choice though. You will be of age.”
I nod and she releases me. I climb the steps up to my room and enter the bathroom that is attached to it. It is simple with a stand-up shower instead of the bathtub and shower combination that is in my parent's room, but I like having my own bathroom. I try not to be too greedy on how much hot water I use but it can help me on my restless nights. If I can get away with not taking the medication I am supposed to be taking, I do.
Tonight it seems that my parents aren’t willing to let me struggle but would rather make sure I get proper rest. For as long as I can remember I haven’t been able to fall asleep on my own. If I don’t have some kind of medicinal help then I might never get proper sleep. The first time it became known to my parents I wasn’t sleeping through the night was when I collapsed from sheer exhaustion at the age of three.
I was taken to see a specialist in Erudite under the supervision of my Uncle Michael. That was when it was discovered that the areas of my brain that should trigger rest weren’t working properly. That was also when my parents recognized I was divergent. There had been panic, worry, and unease at this.
Two years later any and all mention of divergence seemed to drift into nothingness.
My mom comes in with a glass of water and the pill in a small cup. She puts both on the table beside my bed and with her brow furrowed deeply, she begins to pull the covers over me and tucking them in around me. “It feels like just yesterday we were bringing you home from the hospital.” She whispers in a tremulous voice. “I had never considered that I might ever be mother material. I was so scared of how I was going to manage to raise a child. ”
I smile and take the pill she holds out for me then swallow the water while she pushes the hair falling in front of my face back behind my ear.
“Now I don’t know how I am going to manage to let you go.” The hand comes to my cheek and strokes it softly. “I want you to know that I am proud of you, Avery. More than that, I want you to know I love you. Your father and I both love you and that will not change no matter what faction you are in.”
“I know. I love you both so much.” Her lips press to my forehead and I close my eyes with tears burning behind the lids I have squeezed shut.
“Get some rest, dear. Tomorrow your father plans on surprising you with breakfast. Maybe I will make you some of my famous toast.” She smirks as she rises from the bed and goes to turn the light out.
I softly call out goodnight as she is closing my room door and let out a shaky sigh as the tears start to fall. They continue on until the sleeping pill has taken effect and pulls me under to sleep.

Let’s Make One Thing Clear
This Guy!
Tumblr media
This guy right here is NOT A HUFFLEPUFF! People claiming he is, just a bad one have no grounds to stand on. Just because of his color scheme or that he took Patton’s place, doesn’t make him a Hufflepuff. Here’s my evidence.
As I see it, Deceit is a Slytherin. Not a Hufflepuff. Definitions on the Harry Potter Wiki page and Google Dictionary.
Slytherins tend to be ambitious, shrewd, cunning, strong leaders, and achievement-oriented. They also have highly developed senses of self-preservation. This means that Slytherins tend to hesitate before acting, so as to weigh all possible outcomes before deciding exactly what should be done.
Reasons For:
Ambition: A strong desire to do or to achieve something. Through that whole episode he had a goal and had (most of) the sides fooled through it, only falling out when Patton leaked through. But even then he still pushes to get to that point.
Shrewd: Having or showing sharp powers of judgment. While it doesn’t touch on this in the episode very much there are instances we can take from ‘Deceit’ itself. Deceit is the act of deceiving someone by concealing or misrepresenting the truth. In order for that to be accurate, it would mean that Deceit would know which judgment is the right and honest judgment and either simply doesn’t want to, or can’t help from choosing the other direction to act. So yes he has sharp judgment, whether it’s the right one or not is irreverent.
Cunning: Having or showing skill in achieving one's ends by deceit or evasion. It’s the literal definition of it and he’s very good at this. It’s literally what he is the embodiment of. And apparently he’s been doing this for a very long time given the information granted in the episode.
Self-Preservation: Patton literally states. “Deceit is an inner coach that acts with the one intention of self-preservation.” And that would appear to be true.
Reasons Against:
Strong Leader: Simply speaking, we haven’t seen enough to determine if he’d be decent in a leadership role.
Achievement-Oriented: He doesn’t show signs for this, but as spoken above, we may not be able to make this judgment until we see him more in the series.
Hufflepuff is the most inclusive among the four houses; valuing hard work, dedication, patience, loyalty, and fair play rather than a particular aptitude in its members.
Reasons For:
NOTHING! Literally nothing of the definition of Hufflepuff applies here.
Reasons Against:
Hard work: We haven’t seen enough of him to really tell this.
Dedication & Loyalty: While he maybe dedicated to his job or Thomas, he obviously isn’t dedicated to much else. He was ready to lie to Joan meaning we obviously isn’t very loyal to friends or even to his fellow sides by deceiving them.
Patience: While he seemed to keep Patient for awhile, he still broke rather quick when the tables turned. He lost patients and started trying to manipulate Virgil, cut Roman off, stop Logan from speaking, and even yelling at Thomas.
Fair Play: He’s known for manipulating people, even trying to manipulate Virgil in the video. And played on Roman’s wants and loves. Posing as Patton to do this.
BONUS: HE’S LITERALLY A SNAKE!
So that’s my proof.
I hate just labeling a villain as a Slytherin. But I didn’t do that! I actually took the time to look at all the characteristics of Deceit. When actually stopping and looking at the characters traits and characteristics, it holds a strong reason to believe such. Thus is why I never mentioned him being a villain up above because I simply don’t think that has any role to play in defining oneself.
It’s good to hold off until we know more about him, but as it stands for who he is at the present moment, he has most of the features of a Slytherin.
But my main focus for this is to bring about the fact that he’s not a Hufflepuff. Whether he’s a Slytherin or not, he is anything but a Hufflepuff. People are drawn to him being a Hufflepuff because he took the form of Patton or because of his color scheme. But none of that has to do with the house he’d be sorted into.
I hope I made a compelling argument on my behalf and remember this is just how I feel on the matter.

Virginia Department of Corrections Removes Five Percent Nation STG Label "Despite discomfort with labeling the NGE a religion, the Nation occupies a place in my heart, mind and life parallel to that filled by the orthodox belief in God/a Supreme Being in more mainstream religions which are widely accepted in the United States." -Kalvin Donnell Coward [Coward v. Robinson, Chief of Corrections Operations]   In a recent August 28th, 2017 Virginia Department of Corrections Court Decision, U.S. Eastern District Judge Leonie Brinkema ruled that, "After twenty-one years of tracking Five Percenters, the (Virginia Department of Corrections) has not produced sufficient evidence supporting its position that the gang designation is warranted and furthers a compelling state interest," This decision is two-fold: 1.) It removed the STG [Security Threat Group] label within the VDOC and 2.) It now recognizes the Five Percent Nation [AKA The NGE or Nation of Gods and Earths] as a religion. As a religion and no longer a STG, Five Percenters within the VDOC are now free to exercise their right to practice and have the equal protection under the First Amendment to the Constitution of the United States that was established in the 18th Century: 1791. As a religion, Five Percenters are now approved to operate in VDOC facilities along side other faiths such as Orthodox Islam, Judaism, Christianity, Asatru (Odinism), Eckankar, Integral Yoga, NOI [Nation of Islam], Santeria, Wicca and others that are less known.  Under the STG label, inmates who identify themselves as Five Percenters have not been allowed to practice the culture of the Five Percent, congregate, possess any of our literature, placed in solitary confinement because of their affiliation and even physically assaulted because of their unwillingness to denounce the culture. This is not something I'm speaking about as hearsay. These are experiences returning citizens have shared with me and what I know to be true from operating my Prison Correspondence Project for over a decade. There have been many occasions my books have been denied in facilities around the country, my letters and and work has been used as positive character evidence to support legal action to remove STG labels and Volunteer Service/Chaplain Departments contact me to request materials for Five Percenters in their facility.   Although many are unaware, according to a survey conducted by the Association of State Correctional Administrators (ASCA), correctional departments in thirteen states don't recognize the Five Percent Nation as a religion. These states are Arkansas, Delaware, Georgia, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Washington and West Virginia. In these states Five Percenters are also often labeled a STG, singled out receive the harshest treatment. In contrast, there are fifteen states with correctional departments that do recognize the Five Percent Nation as a religion. Those states are Alabama, Illinois, Indiana, Maryland, Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, and Rhode Island. In those states where the Five Percent Nation is recognized as a religion, members are afforded some privileges such as access our Lessons [120], Supreme Mathematics, the Supreme Alphabet, permission to gather, observe honor days [holidays] and have dietary alternatives.   While there is a general consensus among the Five Percent that any STG label needs to be removed, one of the larger concerns that Five Percent Nation members outside of correctional departments ["in the free cipher"] have with this decision, and other department of corrections court decisions, is the lack of inclusion and the religious designation. In regards to inclusion, while some would argue that the decision of a few is a victory in the best interest of the many, the many have argued that they were not informed about or included in the decisions of the few until they read this and other court decisions in the news.   Since our formal inception we have consistently taught and fought the stereotype that we are not a gang. In fact, following the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in April of 1968, the Father [Allah] and many of his young Five Percenters accompanied Mayor John Lindsay walk the streets of Harlem to deter rioting/looting and express condolences to our community. It was the Father himself who once declared that we should "kill all religion." This kill religion declaration did not mean its members. This declaration meant to destroy the hierarchical structure that religions use to arrest the development of its members by keeping them blind, deaf and dumb while its leaders make themselves rich from their labor. All you need to do is take a cursory glance to see followers of any religion living hand to mouth while their leaders live in mansions. Some among the Five Percent even strive to do the same thing. This is one of the main reasons the Father worked diligently to disassociate himself and his Five Percenters from religious bodies or any groups or organizations that functionally undermined the elements of cultural freedom. In taking this non-religious stance, the Father and many other Five Percenters paid and still pay dearly for it. In my article American Horror Story: Asylum Allah & Azreal I elaborate on how his being remanded to the NYS Department of Mental Hygiene and confinement in Bellevue and Matteawan State Hospital for two years at the age of 37, was a direct result of his non-religious stance.   On one side of the spectrum some members of the Five Percent are insensitive to the needs and plight of our brothers and sisters in the belly of beast. Their conservative perspective is, "They shouldn't be in there in the first place" and somehow deserve to be denied free access to our culture and all of its elements -even though most of these brothers and sisters are incarcerated for non-violent offences and clearly not a part of a gang or a STG. Their illogic seems to be that, "You can be the God, Earth or Civilized Person when you get out." I call it illogical because imagine where we would be as a people if everyone who was incarcerated waited until they got out to add their cultural contribution to the society. Think about that.   On the other side of the spectrum are those who are anti-religion. They want nothing to do with the word itself, words related to it or actions that look like it. Some of them have been traumatized by their experience with religion. From their perspective, these brothers and sisters in correctional facilities filing lawsuits for the Nation to be designated a religion are selling our Father's birthright for creature comforts and to be accepted in society. You have those who think court decisions like this are a victory for us. Some think it's a lack of foresight and a failure. In all fairness, everyone who is sincere, who has the right attitude and the proper aptitude, should have unrestricted access to learning our culture. Then it only becomes a question of, how can we make that possible while maintaining its integrity?   In this August 28th, 2017 VDOC Court Decision, even though its plaintiff Kalvin Donnell Coward and witnesses Starmel Allah [Ricky Panayoty] and Born King Allah [Donald Palmer] articulated that the Five Percent Nation [AKA The NGE or Nation of Gods and Earths] is a culture, not a religion, it was Judge Leonie Brinkema's conclusion that: "the Court finds that the VDOC violated the plaintiffs rights under RLUIPA and the First Amendment by designating the NGE an STG thereby enforcing a zero tolerance policy that prohibits plaintiff from possessing his sacred texts and associating with other NGE adherents, and refusing to recognize the NGE as a religion. In accordance with this finding, the Department will be ordered to remove the STG designation from the NGE, recognize it as a religion, and afford it the rights and privileges enumerated in the Department's operating procedure for Offender Religious Programs, including but not limited to permitting NGE adherents to observe their four honor days, possess their foundational texts, and engage in communal worship, subject to the availability of an approved spiritual leader and under the necessary visual monitoring. This holding does not preclude the Department from placing restrictions on NGE adherents as necessary to maintain security and order, provided that the Department does so within the confines of RLUIPA and applicable prison policies. An appropriate order entering judgment consistent with this finding will be issued with this Memorandum Opinion."   Because this Court Decision is now on record in the VDOC, as are similar decisions in department of corrections in other states, the question we must ask ourselves now is, "What's the next step?" For those who disagree with the VDOC Court Decision, are we willing to support legal action and be upstanding citizens who produce the cultural contributions that help define our identity within the context of culture? As I stated earlier, many of my contributions, what I presently do, and the public positions I hold is empirical evidence that we are not a religion or a gang. Keep in mind that this religious designation was credibly weighted by the plaintiffs religious "expert" and Muslim Prof. Michael Muhammad Knight who posits "the Nation [of the Five Percent] is every bit as much of a religion as Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, and other forms of Islam" and representing that "this view of the Nation is shared by most scholars in the academic study of religion." Although Knight, academics who study religion and other outsiders are respectfully entitled to their opinion, that opinion is not the perspective of our Founder or the general consensus of those of us who are of the Five Percent. Whether inside or outside of correctional facility, our culture is not a belief system, we don't engage in communal/corporate worship, we don't have a spiritual leader and we don't teach, as Coward stated in the court record, "a continued existence beyond this dense physical world, a continued existence that most religions refer to as the afterlife."   For those who agree with this or any Court decisions that designate us as a religion, are we willing to also support legal action and be upstanding citizens who produce the cultural contributions that help define our identity outside of the boundaries of those religious designations? Now that more of our brothers and sisters have access to our culture within the VDOC, how can we help ensure that they're learning this correctly and not manufacturing some quasi-religious hybrid that has no semblance of what the Father taught?   In conclusion, I encourage you to not only read this court ruling, and other court rulings for that matter, but to research the court documents themselves in order to get a better understanding of what's going on and what you can do actually about it. Knowledge is the foundation, not assumption. You can research/download this document below Virginia Department of Corrections Five Percent Nation Court Decision Peace, Saladin

Character: Wyatt Vimes Thread: Characters & Characters & Characters Ship: N/A Post/One Shot: One Shot Date Posted: 10.1.2019 Blurb: Wyatt decides to be there for his brother, Renton, after the death of Renton’s mentor. Except, their relationship is fractured and screwed up at best. Still, he wants to try. CW/TW: Pot smoking and mentions of death of a major HP character.
Renton was hurting. Wyatt did not need to see his brother to know that. Even with their shit relationship, he would know that his brother was hurting. Rents had seen his mentor and hero die before his eyes. Along with an entire school full of children witnessing it too, and Wyatt, he knew he had to do something. He knew he had to reach out to Renton and be there for him even though he had not been there for his brother in probably over a decade. It took him a month to get the guts to reach out to Renton, and so it was in mid-July that he sent a message to Renton, asking if he wanted to meet up. Writing that letter had been difficult.  Wyatt could not remember the last time he had written a letter, let alone one to his twin. It all felt so stiff and formal. But he had managed to eke out a letter—something awkward with his rather shitty handwriting but at least it was something—and send it off. It took two days for his brother to reply.
And that letter read as awkward to Wyatt. His brother’s writing only marginally better than Wyatt’s, but a similar smear to the ink because they were both left-handed. He had stared at the letter, looking the words over, but not really reading them right away. There had been a strange compulsion to trace the letters and it was then that Wyatt realized he missed his brother.  Then the message of the letter sank in and he realized they would be seeing each other, a planned hang out, and when was the last time that had happened?
Before Wyatt had left it was always fleeting. Wyatt dropping Rufus off or picking Rufus up. Then he had signed custody over to Renton, and his memory had been wiped, and then he had fled. The last time he had seen his brother, well, it had not been that great. It had been unannounced, Wyatt had been an asshole and he knew that but being an asshole was his default defense mechanism. He supposed he would have to shut that off if he wanted to actually be there for Renton, and he did. Because… sure Renton had friends and a fiancee who were probably better equipped to handle Renton’s mourning. But… he and Rents they were twins and even if their relationship was screwed up… well… he had to be there for his brother. He replied to the letter with the address to the shop he owned and lived in.  He’d close up early that day, not like he had a lot of customers.
— It was the night he and Renton were to hang out and Wyatt was pacing his shop. He had gained some of his weight back that he had lost when he had fallen into the trap of harder than his usual drug usage. Ever since bumping into Leo and doing that job for him, and the promise of the Organization coming back (The Org that he did not remember because those memories of his had been wiped—but for some reason, he was going to return to them, because what else could he do?  Where else could he use his talents for thievery?) Wyatt had been clean. Clean-ish might be a more accurate term because he would drink on occasion and dabble in the Muggle marijuana—but the hard stuff he was done with. He was going to turn his life around or something. He glanced at all the Muggle knick-knacks and gimmicks that lined the shelves of his shop, not feeling any shame whatsoever in how he obtained those goods. He felt even less shame in how much he charged witches and wizards for the crap. He wondered, though, what his brother would think of it all. He wondered if maybe he should have splurged on a hotel room to hang out in. But it was too late to change the location, and to be honest, he doubted Renton could think much lower of him. Speak of the devil. Renton was knocking on the door and Wyatt went over to unlock it. He watched his brother’s face—paler than usual like he had absolutely refused to go outside at all this summer—as he took in the shop. His brother’s expression was unreadable or maybe Wyatt just did not know how to read him anymore, and that caused a pang in his chest. Time to ignore that because he wanted to be present for his brother, or something. He wanted the focus to be on Renton’s sadness and mourning and not whatever brother issues they had. ”Nice shop. How is business?” Renton asked, after a few minutes of silence had lapsed between the two of them. Wyatt belatedly realizing that he had not actually said hi or anything to his brother. He had just opened the door and let him in. “Great,” he lied because again he did not want Renton to latch onto anything bad about Wyatt. In part, he wanted his brother to think that he was doing absolutely fine. But also, the focus, it had to be on his twin. His fingers itched to reach out and touch his brother, give him a hug or something, and so he shoved his hands deep into the pockets of his jeans. Awkward. Tension. It was all thick in the air and could be cut with a knife, or something. ”That is good,” Renton said and Wyatt nodded. He had no idea how he was going to do this. How he was going to be there for his brother but he had to try. — Twenty minutes later and they were in the backroom, it doubled as an office and where Wyatt slept. It looked lived in and he could see his brother trying not to pass judgment, or maybe just silently passing it. Wyatt was seated on his desk, legs crossed while Renton sat on the bed. “How are you feeling, Renton?  With… with McGonagall…” Another awkward silence had fallen before them before Wyatt asked that question. They had been sort of talking about their family—people who wanted nothing much to do with Wyatt—and well, it was time to force the topic into the matter at hand. His brother’s pain and hurt over losing his mentor. Over seeing his mentor get killed before his eyes. Renton tensed, Wyatt could see it from the desk. ”I feel awful…” Renton said, quiet. Barely above a whisper. ”I don’t—… how am I…. Everything is a reminder of her——I—I can’t even shift into my fox form… because she helped me with that. She helped us with that. She—… I don’t—how am I supposed to go back to Hogwarts to teach, she’s always been there? The Castle—… it won’t… I…” And then his brother stopped talking and Wyatt felt something in his own heartbreak as he stared at his brother. He ought to hug him or something. He should say something. He was the one who had brought the damned topic up. He was the one who had invited his brother over to talk about this. But he said nothing. He just stared and let his own memories overtake him. McGonagall had noticed that he and Renton both had an aptitude for Transfiguration.  It had been one of the last things the two of them had really done together, learning how to become Animagus and McGonagall had helped them both out.  He could tell that she preferred his brother, she was always a little more curt and short with Wyatt than Renton but she had helped them both out the same. The long hours of studying and practicing and prepping. She had answered any questions they had had. And Renton, he had become a little shadow to McGonagall as their school lives progressed. It had not been a shock when he had decided to become a Transfiguration professor himself while Wyatt… well…. Renton had lost his hero, his mentor, his friend.  And Wyatt had no idea how to fix that. No idea how to make his brother feel better because he wanted to do that. He loved Renton, complicated relationship and all. “Do you want to get high?  It… it won’t fix things but…” but what?  It might numb his brother some.  Wyatt realized that was probably the wrong tact to take.  Renton was quiet, staring at him, his eyes red-rimmed and his cheeks wet with fresh tears. ”Okay.” Okay. Okay. Okay.  Color Wyatt surprised, but he bent over until he could reach his desk drawer, and he pulled out his weed and a pipe. His brother watched him closely. — Time had lost meaning. Wyatt was high and so was Renton and they were both on the bed together. Staring up at the ceiling—quiet giggles escaping the two of them because his brother was really funny when he was high. And, sure, they had only brought up McGonagall once or twice since the weed. Wyatt stumbling over his words of comfort while Renton stumbled over his words of loss and pain and anguish and confusion and all of that. Then they began to tell stories, happy ones, of their childhood and Hogwarts and McGonagall and Rufus and it was nice. Sad. Funny. Nice. Ebbing and flowing and sometimes hard to keep up with as his mind turned sluggish with the weed and laughter burst forth from his lips. And from Renton’s lips. He knew his brother was not really happy. That it was the high causing most of the laughter but he still felt like he had helped some. That he had shown his brother that he could be there for him. That love was not gone between them or something.  He watched as Renton sat up suddenly. ”I should go. I told Roxie I would not be out late,” Renton explained, his eyes roving over the office. Wyatt watched him with heavy-lidded eyes. “I would not apparate,” the shop was not exactly close to where he remembered Renton living. ”You are smart when you are high,” was the reply his brother gave him. Wyatt could not tell if it was a compliment or not. He decided he really did not need to know for sure. In the end, he and Renton decided that they would walk towards Renton’s place. And the did, weaving between Muggles and wizards alike. Giggling on occasion, and leaning against each other sometimes. There was a comfort in being close to his brother again even though he knew that this would not last. He tried to ignore that thought, though. He focused instead on the walk. One foot in front of the other and making certain his brother was okay. As okay as he could be. ”Thanks for this, Wyatt.” “I’m your brother,” Wyatt said like that mattered. Renton looked at him and said nothing. Wyatt slipped him a joint for the walk home and then they parted ways when Renton was about halfway there. Wyatt doubted Roxie would want to see him, and well, Wyatt was not sure what else he to say to his brother. They had reached that moment where it was probably better to say goodbye than prolong hanging out. He missed his brother. He wondered if there would ever be a chance to fix their relationship, and he watched as his brother walked away before he turned on his own heels, and headed back home.

CONGRATULATIONS ALYSSA, YOU HAVE BEEN ACCEPTED AS GABRIELLE BELLAMY WITH THE FACECLAIM OF GABRIELLA WILDE!
We already adored your first application for our dear Lily, Alyssa, and this one was just as wonderful to read! In particular, we love that she is still somewhat of a semi-canon by her relation to Apolline - but that is definitely not the only reason; her personality seemed really fitting with her biography, and the description you wrote we absolutely adored as well! We’re super glad to have her as an addition to our group.
Check out our acceptance checklist right here on what to do next!
♔ OUT OF CHARACTER INFO ♔
NAME/ALIAS:
Alyssa
AGE:
21 – My birthday is December 20!
PREFERRED PRONOUNS:
She/Her
TIMEZONE & ACTIVITY:
CST/GMT -6
Out of ten, I’d say that my activity is typically around an 8! I get on periodically throughout the day, and most evening/late nights. I am a college student, majoring in theatre, though, so this can all change depending on rehearsals, homework, and of course, whatever life decides to throw at me. I try to let people know if a particularly rough week is coming up!
TRIGGERS:
REMOVED.
ANYTHING ELSE:
REMOVED.
♔ IN CHARACTER INFO ♔
FULL NAME:
Gabrielle Viviane Bellamy
Has been called Gabi and Elle in the past, though she thinks both are rather horrendous, and highly prefers her full name, especially if pronounced with the proper French accent.
Gabrielle: A traditional French name, the Bellamys gave both of their daughters names that signified the strength they wanted their girls to have.
Viviane: Meaning ‘lively’, from the moment she was born, Gabrielle was a ball of spunk and passion. Rarely taking no for an answer, she fights against what is expected of her, and the boxes that people try to stick her in.
Bellamy: Translating to ‘good friend’, her father, Clément, has always found his family name rather poetic.
FACECLAIM:
Gabriella Wilde
BIRTHDAY AND AGE:
Gabrielle has a summer birthday - June 21, 1961, meaning she’s in the younger part of most of her classes. She just turned 17 over the summer, and has been exercising the fact that she’s technically an adult frequently.
HOUSE AND YEAR:
She is a seventh year transfer from Beauxbatons, and was placed in Ravenclaw.
AFFILIATION:
Order of the Phoenix, it’s the entire reason she came to England, though she hasn’t technically joined yet. I’d love to have a plot point when she does officially join, though!
PRONOUNS:
She/Her
SEXUALITY/ROMANTIC ORIENTATION:
Gabrielle is heterosexual, however, she’s incredibly wary of most men. She saw the happiness her sister found, but has only had experiences of men who are interested in her due to her looks, and if she is ever going to be with someone, they need to do a whole lot of proving that they respect her for who she is, not what she is.
EXTRACURRICULARS:
Charms club and dueling club, though I could see her trying to start some sort of political awareness/activism club as well.
DESCRIPTION:
The younger of the pair, the French always looked on you and your sister as perfect little images of what a little girl should be. You fought against that tooth and nail though, educating yourself and those around you. You wouldn’t be their picture perfect idealization of a person. With strength and morals to boot, you are constantly proving that your mind is just as important as your looks
PERSONALITY TRAITS:
+ Passionate
+ Intelligent
+ Brave
- Impulsive
- Short-tempered
- Judgmental
BIOGRAPHY:
Clément Bellamy had resigned to a bachelor’s life early on. A career with the French ministry ate away at most of his time, and he was okay with the idea of dedicating his life to public service. That all changed when he met Marietta, and was instantly drawn to her - beyond being the most beautiful woman he’d ever laid eyes on, she challenged the way he thought, had quick quips in response to almost everything he said, and he soon found himself craving their conversations. Mariette, a veela, was impressed by the man who seemed to look beyond her looks and beauty, and the two married.
The couple soon had two daughters - Apolline and Gabrielle, both born with the beauty of their mother, and the mind and resilience of their father. From the beginning, Apolline was Gabrielle’s greatest friend and confidante. The two girls were taught early about the equality and rights of people - that all people deserved these rights. Their father did not shy away from sharing his distresses with them, and their mother the prejudices she had faced in trying to be taken seriously. The girls experienced it themselves as they grew, watching as more and more people only thought of them as a pretty face.
Gabrielle entered Beauxbatons three years after her sister, and quickly began to excel in her studies, showing an early aptitude for charms work and deuling. She made friends easily, but found that many of them only wanted to be around for the idea of being close to a half-veela. She found herself growing close to very few, and instead, dedicated her time and energies to studying, and learning new techniques and ideas, determined to prove that she was more than her heritage, and more than just another pretty face.
After Apolline graduated, stories from England started finding their way into French newspapers. Her father seemed distressed enough reading about what was brewing in the foreign country, and Gabrielle watched as he stayed late at work, and grew more and more weary looking. For her own part, she stayed as up to date as possible, having not only French, but English newspapers as well, sent to her at school. A happy time was brought by Apolline’s marriage to one Monsieur Delacour, and the subsequent birth of Gabrielle’s niece, Fleur, enchanted the family.
Still, something wasn’t sitting right in her when thinking of the brewing conflict in England. She heard rumblings of various groups forming, and felt a desperate need to be a part of something that actually meant something. Making a decision for herself, she sent necessary letters and class reports, and by the middle of the summer, had presented an invitation to finish her schooling at Hogwarts to her parents. They argued at first, but at her insistence, finally permitted her to go. To them, however, her desire to study in England comes from a hopeful future career as a foreign ambassador or minister. Though they know of the unsettling times, they do not know their daughter’s desire to be a part of it all.
Packing and moving to England was one of the hardest things Gabrielle was faced with, and taking a deep breath, she took her first step onto the Hogwarts Express and didn’t look back. The year will be challenging, she knows, but she’s ready for what comes next, and ready to prove that she’s more than just another pretty face.
CONNECTIONS:
Edgar Bones; Friends, first interaction at Hogwarts
Ludovic Bagman; annoyance
Amara Zabini; acquaintance, shares many classes
*Liliane Chastain; best friend, familiar face from home
*Kay’s OC
ADDITIONAL INFO:
I thought I’d share with you some of my general ideas for Gabrielle! As stated in her bio, she is Apolline Delacour’s younger sister, making her half veela. She’s spent most of her life fighting against people who take her at face value, and because of her father’s involvement in the French political sphere, has developed her own moral compass and ideas for what’s right and what’s wrong. As she started to learn about what was brewing over in England, she found herself getting more and more upset, and knew that she couldn’t just sit back and let it happen. She heard rumblings and rumors of the Order and knew that she had to be a part of it, and using a hopeful future career in foreign affairs as a catalyst, got herself sent to England to attend Hogwarts for her last year of school.
As for the future - after she graduates, Gabrielle will be joining the Order, and consistently trying to fight and stand up against the injustices. She misses her family a lot, especially her sister and niece, and frequently thinks about and talks about them. The biggest thing, though, is that Gabrielle will not be surviving the war, and will eventually be Gabrielle Delacour’s namesake.

Risk Taking Gives You The Potential to Gain Something of Value
Tumblr media
Risk is the potential of losing something of value, weighed against the potential to gain something of value.
Risk taking is defined as -Weighing up the potential benefits and harms of exercising one choice of action over another, identifying the potential risks involved, and developing plans and actions accordingly. To achieve the happiness and contentedness that everyone is looking for, it is very important to understand this concept of ‘Risk taking’. Risks are not only for those who are into adventure sports or financial speculations. Every time we come across a place of decision- making, we are standing at some potential risks. However, in most everyday situations, what is at stake is not often valued and hence easily overlooked.
When making career choices  the preference is often given to a money making career option that is guaranteed to give a materially comfortable life. The choice looks obvious. However, what we so easily overlook is our inherent aptitude, our natural interests, our passions and our deep desires. While believing that money can buy us everything, we often miss out on the importance of self-satisfaction, contentment, peace and self-esteem. Money of course does its job, but once its job is done, the individuals suffer from an unknown restlessness, frustration to have to continue doing work that they do not enjoy and the feeling of being trapped in this world.
Risk taking moments are the opportunities for us to evaluate ourselves and make decisions that are right for us and not chose which is a general belief.
Benefits to risk taking:
• It increases your confidence about what can be done
• It can increase your sense of control about your life
• Help reduce feelings of victimization and helplessness
• Decreases your anxieties and fears
• It provides practice for, and participation in, decision-making
• It can increase your motivation level
• It develops character and courage
• Extends creativity
• Boosts confidence
• Helps establish a sense of both limitations and possibilities.
Process: Risk taking will come in small steps for some and larger steps for others. The most important thing about risk taking is that you must know and want the outcome from the risk. Risk taking is a private issue and other’s opinions, judgments, and criticisms should not come into play. Risk taking is your decision.
Some tips on risk taking:
• Ignore your critics.
• Know and understand yourself and what you want from the risk.
• Be prepared to take the risk and expect the unexpected.
• Use your goal-setting skills to help you along.
• Don’t give up or back down at the first sign of trouble or defeat.
• Realize that not all risks pay off immediately.
• Understand that risk taking is an investment in your future.
• Know that risk taking will help you build healthy self-esteem.
There is an old story about Thomas Edison. He was at a meeting when someone from the crowd yelled, “Mr. Edison, how does it feel to have failed over four hundred times at making the light bulb work?” Mr. Edison stopped, turned, and answered, “My dear sir, I have never failed at my attempts to make the light bulb work. I have successfully identified four hundred ways that it will not work.” Risk taking involves this type of fearless, optimistic thinking.

YEP LOL When some jerk tells me what to think/feel about fiction I feel the compulsion to think/feel the opposite, if only to spite them. Especially if they try to tell me I am not “allowed” to think/feel a certain thing or else I’m a toxic abuse lover etc. That kind of controlling behavior is just total bs.
She’d need to work through that a bit and come to accept herself and her abilities as they are. Then I think she’d need to find some purpose outside of seeking power, and my theory is that this would be best achieved in a teaching role given she has a natural aptitude for it. And then perhaps most importantly, I think she’d need to try and make things right with Adora and Catra (maybe Glimmer if that arc progresses?)
Absolutely. It would take a lot of narrative work, but it is entirely doable, for the reasons you outline. She would need to “want to change” and that want, the place that it could potentially come from… that could be fascinating. I think it’s less likely though, simply due to the multiple redemption arcs they’re already working with. I’d be happy to watch it though!
I’d say that she’d need to hit rock bottom though - teaching is part of how she’s sought control in the way that she molds students to her purposes? I think she’d need to lose everything first, like Catra, and comprehend why in a constructive way.
Instead she’s been able to find new pathways to power, which indicates she’s more intended to be part of Adora, Catra, and Glimmer’s arcs than have her own redemption arc… She’s pivotal to them, but not being set up for her own growth (yet).
But I agree with you, in that I have a tendency to look at powerful, villainous women and see something sympathetic. Women who seek power are absolutely demonized in fiction, which is a reflection of how we see women seeking power in the real world. You don’t need to look any further than the US 2016 election to see how quickly and radically people will decide a woman is pure evil for seeking power.
*Absolutely*. This demand for purity from female characters it not Woke, it’s the same misogyny we’ve been dealing with for (at least) hundreds of years in Europe and places colonized by Europe. And it infects the harsh judgment people put off on real women - we build them up and then rip them apart. Actual studies (fivethirtyeight.com has talked about this) have shown that the higher women go in public office the more despised they are.
Far beyond what men in high office get.
It’s endemic. And I don’t want it to even be the ruling ideology of my fun free time, yet somehow it has become so. Annoys tf outta me.
It deprives female characters of getting to be every possible variation of what it means to be human and it gets on my tits because it leaves these (sorry not sorry) boring pallid perfect uwu lady dollies for me to play with… and I don’t want none of that lol
From my perspective, Glimmer has finally become interesting with the brashness and hunger for power she’s revealed in her deal with Shadow Weaver! She’s become an interesting woman with layers. We *owe* that to them for writing SW the way they have: without her everyone would be less interesting and the conflict would be pallid.
She’s, right now, a great character who is a catalyst for character growth and conflict across multiple fronts that simply makes the story much much better - it makes it an actual story instead of plotless fluff.
And yeah Mystacor was super shitty to Light Spinner, she presented valid concerns and the sorcerers dismissed her and her concerns about the Horde. Had they presented some other plan to deal with the problem rather than trying to tell her to “be happy with what you have” (which was high key not the point???) none of this would have even happened at all. o.O
/flail hands/ EXACTLY! She is responsible for her choices - but they made a ton of shitty choices too which influenced what she saw as possible. Might she still have gone down an ugly path if they’d been willing to hear her out? Sure, but that’s not what happened. As it is, their behavior gives them a level of responsibility too.
I’ve also said before that every single villain in She-Ra has felt insecure or outcasted at some point, and that I suspect the real “villain” of the show is ostracism. (I’m sure I could find that post somewhere…). The people who are “good” have found a place where they belong and are accepted as they are, the people with the Horde generally haven’t. So I’ll be curious to see how the show continues exploring that, and whether or not they’ll allow all of their villains to find that belonging or not.
I would love to read that post! I think the belonging issue also points to problems in the “princess”/goodie culture - where they are often (in the terms of Into the Woods) Nice without being Good. Like, the situation of alienation Entrapta found herself in really speaks to how little room there can be for someone who is different. As does the total condescension and rejection Light Spinner experienced long before she’d ever hurt anyone.
They have a lot of fluffy pretty rules for being Nice which they follow, but when real goodness and acceptance and understanding requires something more from them, they cling to Nice and sacrifice good.
It would be really fantastic if the goodies actually have to expand their understanding of “we”/goodness vs their nicey-niceness. Given the way Light Hope uses false narratives to control Adora, I think it might just be possible. And the way Glimmer, an icon of forced Nice, is going to go some dark places and learn ultimately - to stop being so afraid and accept that goodness isn’t clinging in terror to Nice, it’s hard-won choices.
Yeah, I’m not quite sure what rock bottom would look like for shadow weaver. In some ways she hit it at the end of season one when she lost her powers and was imprisoned, but she’s sort of come back from that and not changed in any meaningful way thus far. that’s kind of why I think the Spell of Obtainment has to be lifted from her in order for her to make any real progress- it seems like that spell did something to her, we don’t have the clearest idea what yet, but I can’t genuinely see her redeeming herself until it’s effects are removed. what rock bottom will look like then remains to be seen. but on a realistic level, I’ll be pretty surprised if they actually go through with a redemption arc for her too. But Noelle has said before that shadow weaver is always surprising her, so who knows what could happen.
Yep, I’m familiar with those studies! You can track the approval ratings of female politicians and watch how they change- you’ll see significant dips when a woman is running for office, but the come up again when she’s actually doing the job (generally, I’m sure there’s exceptions). But that’s definitely the observable trend and it suggest that people get riled up specifically when watching women seek higher levels of power.
And watching how that’s reflected in stories and in how people react to characters is...frustrating and fascinating in equal measure. But a lot of times I gravitate towards those characters- and villains generally, tbh- because the motivations behind “evil” are usually much more interesting to me.
In some fairness to other people who probably don’t share my weird interest in trauma, I work as a therapist and have a vested research interest in abuse (both the effects of it and the causes), so I what I find interesting in fiction might not be the same as other people lol. Part of my graduate training has involved research into cycles of violence and abuse, and I’m often just as curious as to why people abuse as I am how victims of abuse cope. So characters like shadow weaver have an extra layer of intrigue to me, because I want to know why in the heck she would treat catra and adora (and now probably glimmer and I’m so pumped for that arc) as badly as she does.
So going back to mystacor, I think we can see the seeds of that cycle. we didn’t get a lot of shadow weaver’s history with them, but we did see how frustrated and disrespected she felt- and it seems like she didn’t really fit in with them. I hope we see more of her past, because I think there’s more to the story than what we’ve seen so far. I couldn’t say the extent to which she was mistreated, but you have to wonder.
what I would like to see is more of Team Good being challenged on their perspectives, and I’d like to see adora being the one to do it. adora was with the horde her entire life, she knows all those kids aren’t evil. I’d like to see more of her challenging the black-and-white worldview of bright moon- we saw her doing it a little bit in 3x01 with regards to shadow weaver, but it would be nice to see her extending that same compassion to people like lonnie, kyle, scorpia, and rogelio. and eventually, after some serious character development, catra too. when adora first defected it was like she over-identified with the ideals of bright moon in order to compensate for having ever been part of the horde, but I hope as she becomes more secure in herself that she’ll start to settle into her own identity and morals. I think glimmer’s upcoming arc might have potential to really challenge adora and her current mindset, so I hope they use that to it’s fullest potential.
