How are they not giving them enough time? They're not rushing these shows out, took nearly two years to get another season of Wheel of Time and looks like it will be just as long, if not longer, for Rings of Power. Whether you like these shows or not, saying they the studio is rushing them out is just nonsense.

One day I'm literally gonna snap and make a whole post addressing why what's wrong bc I'm tired of the inaccuracy and tired of ppl not understanding the Point TM of IDW and its version of the Matrix/Primacy and even more tired of people putting down Optimus in favor of Rodimus by essentially arguing that being unworthy means you deserve to be punished/put in pain bc you just weren't good enough to hold the Symbol of Ultimate Authority

Hokay, after finally having caught up with the RGG TV series, my overall verdict is… it was fine enough as a standalone show!

I went in fully knowing this would be an adaptation and vastly different from the games (since, like how you pointed out, the advertisement made it very clear that this wasn’t going to be a 1:1 recreation). Without spoiling any of the plot, the very loose general framework for Y1 is there, they just stayed true to their word and crafted an entirely new story surrounding it.

And personally, I found this new take to be passable! It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't anything amazing either. It was just pretty okay. In terms of being an RGG adaptation though… I kept finding myself asking why Amazon didn't just create their own IP to tell this tale. Things were so far removed in terms of character personalities and plot that a lot of the cast felt like 'nothing' characters, just shoehorned in there because they existed in the games. 🤔

Having said that, there were also things I found enjoyable because I'm an RGG fan. The story puts a lot of focus on the Sunflower Orphanage gang (Kiryu, Nishiki, Yumi, and Yuko (named Miho in this adaptation for whatever reason)) who we never saw all together in the games. So I feel as though there's still a bunch here for fans to take away and have fun with.~

The finale closed in a way that hinted at a second season, which would be… interesting to see. Frankly I'm not sure where they could take the plot for it to still have any semblance of relevance to what it's based upon, but we'll just see what happens!

I admit my favorite route is the "he gets rid of the artifact and the changes cease" Route

If he gets rid of the artifact, its with the help of someone (probably Jazz, but I've toyed around with other characters too) helps Sentinel gets the world's shittiest dinky little ship, exactly the type of transaction where the seller isn't asking questions, and upon reaching earth I'm getting the distinct image of Sentinel literally throwing the artifact into the deepest hole he can find (deeper than the original mine)

Now, I'm imagining that Sentinel since getting the artifact has been on a ticking clock on the outer god sort of consuming / corrupting his psyche in order to make him a more fit tool for the job that is gaining sacrifices. This is why in the bad ending / sparkeater ending he's just... Not quite Sentinel anymore. His save has been overwritten and glitched. So it was a matter of not being able to get rid of it fast enough before he was in too much of an altered state of mind.

Now, I'd assume that in the fusion route he's sort of slowly sacrificed to Nyarlathotep who has been already drawing off of not only the victims but Sentinel himself, and idk whether to interpret this as "Sentinel directly becomes his new avatar" or "Sentinel squishes into his current avatar like two clay balls"

Maybe for the sparkeater route he decides Sentinel is better as a mindless puppet and maybe in the fusion route he decides Sentinel is better as a snack and/or new body to more directly control

but right now, fuck amazon and prime video in particular because at least netflix is pretty damn consistent and reliable on the most basic of accessibility options such as subtitles/captions actually syncing to their damn videos and not making it all but impossible to report playback and accessibility issues when they occur

i'm genuinely, legit excited to watch good omens season 2 here soon--except that if it's yet another show where at minimum random episodes are completely and entirely out of sync, i probably won't be able to watch it anyways
