@giurochedadomani this au is eating my brain.
someone in the replies of the last post brought up dogsred, a hockey manga where a figure skater becomes a hockey player so that could be zoro lol
i mentioned it there but he becomes a meme bc he was messing around during practice and managed to score with three hockey sticks, one of which was in his mouth! three stick style 😎
like u mentioned, ace is roger's son but it's not common knowledge bc he wanted to make it on his own name instead of under his dad's, who has like, gretzky-level hockey fame. also holds some resentment bc the peak of roger's career was when ace needed him at home.
also like u mentioned, garp totally doesnt believe professional sports is a reliable career in the long run, and despises that most of his grandkids are pro hockey players, and his son went into speed skating and eventually became the olympic coach for the country's olympic speed skaters (incl sabo). koala is also one and her and sabo are on the mix-gendered relay skate.
by the time luffy gets promoted to captain, he's somehow amassed the weirdest team of pirates players ever seen, where many of the regulars just. don't have backgrounds in hockey? where did he find them? how did he convince the league to take them? who knows.
cross guild productions is the brain child of crocodile, who lent buggy a bunch of money to start his company and decided to do this when buggy couldnt pay up when he chased him diwn years later. croc also coaches mihawk, so he decides to strong-arm mihawk into doing guest performances, since he's such a big figure skating name, having the most olympic golds ever win by a single figure skater. mihawk doesnt want to do it until he hears the storyline for the performance, sees his costume sketches, and holds the prop sword. he's just a huge goth dork underneath it all.
after mihawk's grand internationally-aired romantic gesture succeeds and he gets shanks back, shanks manages to convince the cross guild that he's still a good enough skater to do an easy ice show, as long as he doesnt fall on his bad arm like a dumbass. he never does tricks, but people love the character they write for him, as he's so charismatic. he plays mihawk's rival in that season's little show, and gets his own prop sword. every single performance sells out bc mishanks is till a hot topic among ice skating and hockey fans.
sanji comes from a very strict, very decorous mma family, and he never fit in bc he likes cooking and skating. he ran away from home and found a fister parent in zeff, and worked at the baratie growing up, where zeff put him in hockey bc his kid likes skating but he also needs friends his age. despite never wanting to be like his birth family, ironically sanji's one of the best fighters on the pirates.
usopp is a forward and their best shot, and generally always makes it into the net from wherever he's shooting. despite this, he finds being a forward absolutely terrifying and is refularly intimidated by the big guys they face that have no problem getting in his face and starting fights.

shifting isn’t a relay race. it’s a fun run
reality shifting is the act of moving your mind (soul, spirit, whatever you call it) into a different realm or plane of existence.
similar — astral projection. but it is astral projection to a different city, state or country. places we have in this world. reality shifting is not just projecting from canada to france. reality shifting can take place during astral projection.
similar — lucid dreaming. being conscious of your dreams when the body is asleep. you are still in your body, but your mind is also awake. you (usually) cannot travel to a new world with new laws and stay there even after your body wakes up. this only takes place during the REM cycle of sleep. reality can take place during lucid dreaming.
and, nowhere in the definition of reality shifting does it say you have to shift before someone else, you have to be at point c before this person gets to point b, etc. it just has to do with you.
shifting isn’t a competition. it’s a fun game that you get to choose. level up on your own time. do your own thing to get to where you want to be.
shifting isn’t a sprint relay that you see in the olympic games. shifting is a fun run. it doesn’t matter what place you’re in, or how much time you take, all that matters is you do it.
nobody is going to be mad at you or make you train harder because some kid in england beat you by .89 seconds.
you get to do this at your own pace on your own time. it’s your fun run. you complete it when you can. you can take years, months, weeks, days or hours. it all depends on your prior knowledge and training.
and if you don’t have that prior knowledge or training, WHO GIVES A FUCK? not everyone starts knowing everything you know. those could be lessons they grew up learning. someone could’ve forced that into their brain from a young age.
and if you’re just learning what witchcraft really is at 49, good for you. you’re still learning and growing. but that doesn’t mean you’re bad for not knowing last year or yesterday.
it doesn’t matter when training starts, or how much prior knowledge one has, it just matters that you’re willing to do it.
i hope this helps someone. i have no idea where this came from lmfao. blessings from me and the universe <3

Title: Like Old Times
Rating: PG
Prompt: Relay from @wolfstarmicrofic
Word count: 298
Summary: Sirius and Remus compete in a 4x100m relay race.
I am writing a fic for each of the prompts this month. You can read all of them here.
+ + +
Sirius slowly stood up and grimaced at the sudden pain shooting down the back of his left leg.
The old injury had never healed in the years since he last completed at an elite level, but he was not ashamed to admit maybe his body was simply not what it used to be.
“Look at us, hey?” He turned to see the familiar grin on his husband's face. The years had been kind to Remus and the youthful sparkle in his eyes was the same as it had been when they first met as teenagers.
The race had been James’s idea. Sirius and Remus had been hesitant but after a surprisingly persuasive phone call with their old teammate, Peter, the four had agreed to team up again for an Over 40s 4x100m charity relay race.
After a few months of training together, the Olympic gold medallist winning team found themselves trackside once again.
Their race would start soon and before Remus left to go his starting position in the other side of the track, he pulled Sirius into a familiar one-armed hug that made Sirius smile. It was the same hug he had given Sirius at their first meet all those years ago as nervous eighteen-year-olds, and the same one he gave Sirius before they ran their very last relay at the last Olympics they had together sixteen years ago.
“Ready for this?” Remus asked, softly.
Looking up at a face he knew better than his own, Sirius nodded. “Ready,” he said.

My bestie proposed a question to me last night and now I must pose it to you.
'Philosophical question of the day: Brinic Summer Olympics AU, what sport does each do? It has to be a different sport for each and you can list other characters but we mainly talking your boys'
While this was supposed to be about Fast and Furious it quickly shifted to the DC universe. So here we have it (going off vibes, some canon points, and the fact I cannot use an event more than once):
Bruce - Triathlon, he's an over achiever and no other reasons past that
Alfred - shooting, honestly would do handgun and rifle but mainly rifle
Dick - Gymnastics, all of them, no elaboration needed
Jason - Hockey, full contact sport, requires an insane amount of endurance and balance, and you can't tell me Jason doesn't give off Hockey vibes
Tim - Skateboarding, it's something he is actively good at
Damien - Fencing, not only is it a style of swordwork, but it also feels like a sport he would actually appreciate
Stephanie - tennis, she would absolutely wreck a tennis court
Cass - all martial arts, judo, taekwondo, karate the whole 9 yards
Duke - Lacrosse, I just feel like he'd do really well in Lacrosse
Roy Harper - Archery, obviously
Ivy - Equestrian, show jumping specifically
Selena - Also Equestrian but she does Dressage, it's expensive, high profile, and very well dressed
Harley - Pole Vaulting, there was discussion with this but I think Harley would do well in Vaulting
Clark - Table Tennis, he's the right level of nerd for it and I feel like he wouldn't do a strength thing
Kon - Shot Put, he's a show off and we love him
Jon - High Dive, closest to flying that's not high jump or gymnastics
Bart - Relay, he could do singles but Bart cheering with a team after winning first is my whole heart, he'd be the one to cross the finish line
Garfield - soccer, he could also breakdance, but that won't be added until 2028
Vincent - Weightlifting, this is Cyborg we're talking about
Artemis - my only double, Archery
Bane - Hammer Throw
In the crowd:
Babs, Raven, Bernard
Lois is doing coverage because those are her boys
Joker is a streaker lmfao
Feel free to add more! We had so much fun with this 🤣
Also please take this wonderful concept art of Joker Streaking through the field while Harley does her vaulting routine

for @partiallypearl and all the wonderful tiktoks (or clip clops as we imagine they’d be called in btrtv verse) they send me
—
this would be the last time roxy ever let a stupid internet video whittle its way into her vocabulary. curse camille for sending her the short form video on the new clip platform roxy didn’t fully understand; the ridiculous audio had gotten stuck in her head and now, james sat on his bed beside his girlfriend, completely bewildered at her statement.
they’d been having such a nice evening - james was organizing the items in his vanity, taking inventory of what was needed for his intensive skin and hair care routine, getting rid of expired product, and cleaning the counter top and mirror while roxy sprawled out on his bed, laying on her stomach as she devoured the new paranormal romance book jo had let her borrow.
“any good?” james asked, taking a towel and a bottle of windex to the tri-folded mirror, looking back at the writer in the reflection. while he wasn’t one to pick up a novel himself, he did enjoy letting roxy relay the plot of whatever she picked up to him.
keeping place in the book with her thumb, the girl rolled to her back on the small twin. “well, it’s got a super sexy vampire, a steamy romance plot line, and a twin curse on the main couple that can only be cured through… less than conventional means. i’m certainly not complaining.”
catching the way her face flushed at the last addition to her statement, she realized she probably should have left that part out.
oh god, he’s going to ask, she immediately realized. how can i put it in a way that doesn’t involve actually saying the word? they have to… prove their love? or… share a night of passion?
“sounds like that’s right up your alley!” he said instead, and her pulse stopped racing in her ears. now he was rearranging the items in the big drawer by his lap. “tell me when the aliens show up, or there’s a big car chase… anything with a little action.”
there’s going to be plenty of action, don’t worry, james!
“by the way,” the boy started again, “have you seen my hair brush? normally it goes right next to my flat iron but it’s not in here. i know kendall likes to move my shit around to mess with me but this time he’s gone too far!”
despite cracking her book back open, holding it above her head with extended arms, she glanced to her left and right. something blue was sticking out between his mattress and the wall, right next to the stuffed plushie she’d won him on her birthday in santa monica.
“this it?” she plucked the brush handle, bristles, and all from the hiding spot kendall had chosen. now dangling it over the bed in james’ direction, roxy dove back into her novel.
“yes!” he triumphantly cried, racing over to where she was and gently taking it from her hand before returning it to its proper place in the vanity. “way to go, babe.”
a few seconds of silence, roxy pulled her lip into her teeth as the scene reached its climax, and she felt the bed dip beside her. then, her book was taken from her hands and set on james’ nightstand; there he was, staring down at the girl in his bed with the utmost affection in his gaze.
“thanks,” he murmured, eyes flickering to her mouth, tongue poking out and subtly wetting his lips.
what came over her, she didn’t know, but the only thing roxy could think to say was, “you want to kiss me so bad it makes you look stupid.”
and james froze, mid hand reaching out to tangle itself in her hair.
“excuse me?”
“sorry! i didn’t mean you look stupid, exact opposite in fact, just that the look you gave-“
“and what look was that?”
“with the eyes and the smoldering… and the lip thing.”
blinking, james finally moved again, hand shifting to lay palm down on her stomach. slowly, he pressed down to dip and give her a kiss and her stomach did an olympic-level somersault routine.
“then that pays off quite well for you doesn’t it?”
breathless. that’s what roxy was after one kiss.
“not sure… try again would you?”
batting her eyes subconsciously and looking up at him through her mascara-coated lashes made james’ shoulders begin to shake with laughter.
“who looks stupid now, songbird?!”
she shifted her position, pulling the bailey plushie from the wedge between the wall and tossing it at his head, “james diamond, i swear to god-“
her words were cut off as her boyfriend kept giggling, falling onto the bed beside her, taking her round cheeks in his hands, and kissing her once again - this time, with a giant smile plastered across his lips.

at 4am my mind randomly flashed to the insane amounts of condoms in the olympic village which of course made me go “oh, what if pit babe -” so here is an unhinged pit babe characters as summer olympic athletes from someone whose knowledge of the olympics is limited to their condom statistics:
kenta is a swimmer. Duh.
pete is his swim coach. pete used to be like michael phelps or something before retiring due to an injury but now he parades around in his lil windbreaker and people are still in awe of him. it is infuriating because kenta just wants to train and compete but it takes an hour to get across any room because his coach is basically swim jesus.
north is a diver. we have seen michael shirtless, okay. he needs to be in a tiny speedo, bouncing on a diving board and then doing like bazillion lil spins before a sploosh.
sonic would be the team physio guy because imagine him waving ice packs and athletic tape, scolding and mothering people with the same level of exasperation as in the show.
way just looks like a pole vaulter. he would lope like a gazelle and then punt himself into the air only to then fall onto the mattress and be all spread out watching as the bar wobbles, then settles, before smiling. he is totally one of the most indecently giffed athletes in the games just because of this.
dean runs track. not the short sprints but like 400m or those relay race things. he just has the cheekbones and the air of a nervous whippet who runs in circles and then comes to you like “DID I DO GOOD?????”
babe and charlie? gymnasts. like babe is the golden boy of the sport and charlie the hot newcomer whose first olympics these are.
alan and jeff are the gymnastic coaches. alan would be like “babe, you need more speed and then you’ll have to - *interpretative dance arms demonstrating what the grip on the parallel bars should look like*” and jeff would follow it with a “what he means is you need more air which means you’ll have to increase your starting speed by at least 20%.”
i mean this means winner is a gymnast as well but like one that is very aware of the fact he only qualified because the person before him broke an arm the week before. his specialty is the rings which is very impressive but he's bitter since babe gets all the sponsors because he flies through the air like a beautiful swan and, unfortunately, in every photo ever taken of winner he just looks like he’s about to shit his pants.
and kim? you might think it’d make sense he’d also be in the gymnast team but let's for a second picture this: KIM AS AN EQUESTRIAN. like tell me he doesn’t lowkey have the aura of a neurotic horse girl? imagine the cream pants and shiny boots. imagine kim having a huge ass horse named cupcake that sonic keeps calling “a pony!” with sparkling eyes.
tony would be the french judge who gives everyone shit scores just because.

Thanks for the fun, Paris
The two and a half weeks that were the Paris Olympic games are now in the books, it was a great event with a lot of elite athletes competing at the highest level. No matter what your itch is, the olympics will scratch it, I watched everything from table tennis to water polo. Obviously living in the USA, I root for the American athletes to do well but it's fun watching other nations celebrate medals. It's time to reflect on the games, taking a look at what these games will be remembered for as we are on the road to 2028.
I think we can all agree that the idea of breaking or break dancing being involved in the Olympics was going to be intriguing. I can say that it will be remembered for a while, probably not for the best reasons, it was defined by a woman from Australia earning a zero. I'm sure that you've seen the routine, if not, please check it out. As of right now it seems like breaking will be one and done as it won't be returning for the 2028 games.
This was a redemption tour for Simone Biles, re-establishing her dominance after a rough performance in Tokyo back in 2020. In Tokyo she pulled out after citing her mental health, she didn't look like her normal self at all. She medaled in Tokyo but you could tell something was off, didn't want to make it seem like she did nothing. In Paris, Simone earned gold medals for the individual all around, team all around and vault. She added a silver medal for floor exercise, 4 total medals with her expressing joy and confidence that seemed to be missing in Tokyo.
This is 16 year old Quincy Wilson who made his Olympic debut in Paris and earned a gold medal as part of the 4x400 meter relay team. The coolest part of his winning a gold is the fact that he became the youngest ever to win a gold medal, now he becomes someone that I will be looking out for in 2028.
There were many more moments but that's every Olympics, whether it's summer or winter. The 2028 Olympics will be in Los Angeles as was introduced during the closing ceremonies with Tom Cruise lowering in to the arena and taking the flag to LA.
LA will see the return and introduction of 5 sports that weren't part of the Paris games. Baseball and Softball will be making a return, they were last played back in 2008. Lacrosse and Cricket are also making a return, but they haven't been in the Olympics since 1908 and 1900, respectively. Squash and Flag Football will be brand new to the Olympics. I'm excited to see them all in 2028, are you?
Make sure to follow me both @chompinatthebit and @passionandprecision with my co-host who you can also follow @jorissportsstories. Let me know what you think.
Until next time...

at the last summer olympics they did a coed swimming event. i believe it was a 200 medley relay, 2 women and 2 men per team, and each team could choose which gender swam which stroke. anyway it was a disaster, i remember the women slowed the teams down if they were facing a man doing the same stroke. and the winning team won by a lot, probably due to where they put their genders. and this made me so sad bc this event will be used as an argument against coed swimming. but it's like. the problem is the whole system starting all the way at the beginning, you can't just throw everyone together at the highest level and expect them to be equal. as my prev reblog said women are underfunded, harrassed, abused, and actively discouraged, from day one. maybe if women were praised and encouraged and compensated and trained in the exact same way as men are from the beginning of their swimming careers (starting as children) then they would end up being equals at the olympic level. the coed olympic event was not evidence of women's inferiority, it is evidence of our society's lack of faith in women because that event set them up to fail.

Jin Today Releases his Highly Anticipated First Solo Album "Happy."
Rosa Gulliver of TINYGMUSIC | November 15, 2024
Capturing a journey of happiness, Happy is a true expression of Jin as a solo artist that shines with his contagious positive energy. Like a heartfelt gift, it will offer listeners strength and comfort in their day-to-day lives.
The album includes a total of six tracks including main track "Running Wild" and pre-release single "I'll Be There," which dropped on October 25. Other tracks include "Another Level," "Falling," "Heart on the Window (with WENDY)," and "I will come to you." While featuring a notable band sound with rich rock influences across the board, the diverse range of musical styles in the album accentuates Jin’s prowess as a widely versatile artist and vocalist. Jin participated in the overall production of the album, also writing the lyrics of the track dedicated to ARMY (BTS’ official fandom) “I will come to you,” which showcases his heartfelt lyricism that connects to others.
Through Happy, Jin brings together a wide range of global musicians. Gary Barlow of Take That, often called the most successful British pop band since The Beatles, co-produced and co-wrote the main track "Running Wild." American singer-songwriter MAX contributed to the pre-release single “I’ll Be There,” while Taka and Toru from Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK are credited on "Falling." "Heart on the Window (with WENDY)," Jin’s first duet track, showcases a soft, intricate vocal rendition that demands to be kept on repeat.
youtube
Main track "Running Wild" boasts a new wave and British rock-infused pop rock sound that features Jin’s soothing low tones followed by soaring falsettos in the hook, adding a dynamic layer to the track. With its positive, hopeful message about pushing forward—running until you're out of breath—the track captures the warmth and passion of love with Jin’s personality radiating through.
Released on HYBE LABELS’ YouTube channel, the music video for “Running Wild” visualizes the theme of running breathlessly toward hope amid an impending apocalypse. It emphasises finding joy in life’s small moments, where happiness and love shine through despite chaos. Jin calmly navigates his daily life with his beloved dog, illustrating that true happiness is being with loved ones, no matter the circumstances. The ending, capturing the simple joys of everyday life, reinforces the message Jin aims to convey.
Happy is now available on all streaming platforms worldwide. The multifaceted global superstar will connect with global fans through his premiere live TV performance of “Running Wild” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on November 20 ET.

Attending my third and final session, which was an evening session. This is my first Olympics, but this stadium was built to perfection because I was in Row 81 - nose bleed seats or the third level of seating, but I had a view that was perfect to see every person and every activity with the naked eye. Germany was on my left. France on my right. France and Netherlands in front. The award ceremony was beautiful and a theme song that will play in head and memories for a long time. I have seen the Olympic officials and competitors to change from a white organization, now black organization, and now Asian integration. I heard an international music playlist…Thank goodness for saving me from hearing United States playlist. It was exciting to see the international community knowing other artist's song and dances to them. Thanks to the German couple next to me explaining the different songs matching certain events in the European community. The men's high jump was spectacular won in winning a medal had to be done through a tie-breaker. The men's long distance 5000m was funny because Ethiopia utilized its energy on the 2nd lap to finish and did not even medal on the final lap. The women's 1500m was really good for Kenya to break her own record and win gold for a third time…I guess will see you in Los Angeles 2028. The women's 110m hurdles was a spectacular for the USA to win and defending champion coming in 3rd with a photo finish. Yes, I am glad the 4x400m USA men and women team won first for their respective races. MVP for this Olympics for USATF women was Gabrielle "Gabby" Thomas with a 4x100m, 200m, and 4x400m gold medals. MVP for this Olympics for USATF men was Noah Lyles and Quincy Wilson because they did their job to provide opportunities for others and both from the DMV metro area. The very disappointing part is the arrogance of USATF not awarding alternates or Team B medals for creating the opportunity of getting an Olympic Record or Medal. I thought Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Inc. was arrogant. I was so proud of the other country teams showed great pride and sportsmanship for every team member whether they participated or not on the relay teams. Yes, I am upset because Quincy Wilson was absent from the medal podium…I do not know the reason…I do not care. The USATF women 4x100m showed it also with only four members and no alternate. Africa is getting their teams right (Botswana pushed the h*ll out of that last men's 4x400m relay leg), Europe is getting their teams right, and Asia shown the most improvements on establishing presence where American favorites are marketed to win. I never thought I would see an Asian (Japan) claim first place in women's Javelin. Thanks to the international community to make USATF work for those medals. Thanks most to Mother Africa and the number of Africans that represented countries where we had the most horrid treatment including up today. I personally and professionally thank each African, French, and American athlete for representing me and my DNA makeup. Paris, France in the European Union has set the bar in achieving gender parity, promoting sustainability, unexpected sports categories, and getting the viewership up…now Los Angeles 2028 in the United States of America of North America let's see what you got since 1984. I was only eight (8) years old in 1984 so I knew nothing of the Olympics….not until high school I knew of Junior Olympics track and field with Orangeburg Track Club in South Carolina, while attending Cross High School on my high school track and field team.

Wins and losses of Paris 2024 Olympics day 11
Day 11 of the Olympics saw new victories and new embarrassments, with some athletes receiving gold medals and others getting bad food.
Food with worms
Superstar swimmer Adam Peaty has come under fire for the quality of food on offer at the Athletes’ Village, less than a fortnight after Team GB began boycotting the restaurant inside the stadium.
Peaty won a silver medal in the 100m breaststroke before finishing an agonising fourth in the men’s 4×100 medley relay. Like other athletes competing in the Olympics, Peaty is staying at the athletes’ village in Paris.
All meals are provided by the organisers and there is a huge restaurant on site. But the British superstar has questioned the quality of the food preparation, leaving him furious with what he was served.
Peaty claims the quality of the food is having a negative impact on the results, and condemned the organisers’ promise to make 60 per cent of all meals meat-free and a third plant-based. He said:
The catering isn’t good enough for the level the athletes are expected to perform. We need to give the best we possibly can. Tokyo the food was incredible. Rio was incredible. But this time around? There wasn’t enough protein options, long queues, waiting 30 minutes for food because there’s no queuing system. The narrative of sustainability has just been pushed on the athletes. I want meat, I need meat to perform and that’s what I eat at home, so why should I change? I like my fish and people are finding worms in the fish. It’s just not good enough. The standard, we’re looking at the best of the best in the world, and we’re not feeding them the best.
Team GB had previously boycotted the Village over food in the first week of the Olympics. But organisers insist they take the athletes’ concerns seriously. They have also defended the work of their catering partner, saying extra staff and suppliers have been brought into the Village.
New world record set
Following her stunning victory in the women’s 800 metres on Monday, Keely Hodgkinson told ITV News that she now believes breaking the world record, which has been held for 40 years, is “possible.”
When asked what she plans to do with her future, the 22-year-old said “there’s a whole world record to try and break” and added that she would “love to try and do it.” She also said:
Why not? I think with everything we’ve had in advancements in track and field – the science behind how we train, the shoe technology, the tracks – I think it’s really making it seem possible.
She told ITV News that she felt at home during the race because there were lots of family members, friends and British fans at the stadium in Paris. The previous record of 1 minute 53.28 seconds was set by Czech athlete Jarmila Kratochvilova in 1983.
Medals in surfing events
Tahitian Kauli Vaast won the gold medal for France in the men’s event at Teahupo’o on Monday in a near-perfect final, leaving Australian tubing maestro Jack Robinson with silver.
American Caroline Marks added Olympic gold to her 2023 world title with an emphatic victory over Brazil’s Tatiana Weston-Webb in the women’s final.
Brazil’s Gabriel Medina won the bronze medal in the men’s event, while Frenchwoman Johanna Defey finished third in the women’s event.
The 22-year-old Vaast, who grew up in Teahupo’o, Tahiti, and caught some of the best waves of all time on a perfect reef passage, quickly established his dominance and never gave up, thrilling spectators in boats in the channel and on shore.
Adding that he had lost his voice screaming back at local fans as he did a victory lap on a jet ski, Vaast said:
The dream came true. I can’t believe it right now but I just made history – for me, for all Tahitians, for Polynesia and France.

25 July 2024
The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games will see competitors parade on boats along the River Seine through central Paris on Friday.
An unprecedented security operation is in place, with organisers also facing challenges over the cleanliness of the Seine, costs and the environmental impact of the Games.
When are the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games?
The summer Olympics run from 26 July to 11 August, with 10,500 athletes competing in 329 events.
The Paralympics take place from 28 August to 8 September, featuring 4,400 athletes in 549 events.
There will be 206 countries represented at the Olympics, and 184 at the Paralympics.
Where will Olympic and Paralympic events take place?
The main athletics events will be at the Stade de France, on the northern outskirts of Paris.
There are also Olympic and Paralympic venues in the city centre.
The Pont d'Iena, for example, is hosting cycling events, while beach volleyball is at the Eiffel Tower and the marathon starts at the Hotel de Ville and ends at Les Invalides.
Is the Seine clean enough for swimming?
Open water swimming and triathlon events are due to take place in the Seine, more than 100 years after swimming in the river was banned.
Tests done in mid-June showed that levels of E. coli in the water were 10 times the acceptable level.
However, Games organisers hope July sunshine and measures like a rainwater storage basin will make it clean enough.
Ahead of the Games, Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo took a dip to try to prove the river was safe.
How are France's security forces preparing for the Games?
The Games will be protected by the largest peacetime deployment of security forces in French history
Up to 75,000 police, soldiers and hired guards will be on patrol in Paris at any one time to guard venues and events.
The use of the Seine for the opening ceremony, with crowds watching the parade from the banks, is a first for the modern Olympics.
The original plan was to give free tickets to 600,000 members of the public to watch from the river's banks.
However, the government was worried about potential threats such as a drone attack, and spectator numbers were scaled back to 326,000.
More than 220,000 of those will be invited guests and 104,000 will be members of the public who have bought tickets.
Some 44,000 barriers have been erected, with QR codes for residents and others seeking access to the river Seine and its islands.
Many of the barriers will be removed after the opening ceremony.
Intelligence services uncovered two plots against the country by suspected Islamic militants in early 2024.
In May, a man was detained on suspicion of planning an attack on the torch relay in Bordeaux, and another man was arrested in southern France over a plan to attack an Olympic football venue.
How much are the Games costing?
The cost of this year's Games is estimated to be about 9bn euros (£7.6bn), less than any of the previous four Games — in Tokyo, Rio de Janeiro, London, and Beijing.
Much of the funding is coming from private companies, as well as sales of tickets and broadcasting rights.
The government's official auditors have said it may have to pay between 3bn and 5bn euros (£2.5bn and £4.2bn) for costs such as policing.
Are the Games environmentally friendly?
The organising committee of Paris 2024 has promised to make it the greenest Games in Olympic history, with half the carbon footprint of London 2012 and Rio 2016.
The Games will be held in the same city where, in 2015, world leaders agreed to try to prevent global temperatures rising by more than 1.5C.
About 95% of the Olympic and Paralympic sites are either existing structures or temporary ones.
The organisers say they are using as much recycled material as they can — including recycled cardboard beds for athletes — and trying to minimise carbon emissions.
However, it has been reported that thousands of air-conditioning units have been ordered for Olympic Village rooms by some national teams.
Are the Games pushing up prices in Paris?
Millions of visitors are expected in Paris during the Games, with ticket holders expected to spend an estimated 2.6bn euros (£2.2bn).
Hoteliers in Paris pushed up their rates, in many cases doubling them or more, in anticipation of a big rise in demand.
But there have been reports that many hotels have had unexpectedly low sales.
Bus and metro fares are also doubling in the capital during the Games.
In January, the Louvre art gallery put up its entrance fees by almost 30%.

Perfect 10 (WIP)
Here’s so WIP trash that I will more than likely not finish. Started this during the last Olympics and not got around to completing it. Probs won’t… so here ya go! 😂😭
——
“Yo Shach! Looks like we’re finally going to meet Law’s mystery man tonight.”
“No way! Captain, you invited him?”
Trafalgar Law heaved a heavy sigh. “There’s only 2 meets left of the season. I want him to see at least one.”
“About time!”
“Right! You guys have been seeing each other how long, and we STILL haven’t met him yet!”
“Its only been 4 months and we’ve been busy.” Law said nonchalantly, reapplying chalk onto his grips, but he couldn’t quite hide the small smile on his lips.
“Well you’re definitely introducing later, no way you’re getting out of it this time.”
“Yeah, gotta see who’s keeping my friend happy.” Penguin teased, giving Law a playful wink as he went to go warm-up.
The brunette softly chuckled. “Yeah. I guess he does.”
“Can you AT LEAST tell us him name though?”
——
“Kid! Wait up!”
Eustass Kid turned toward his best friend Killer jogging up, to meet him.
“Sorry man. Didn’t know how long you’d be in the shower. These things get packed and I wanted a good seat.”
“It’s all good. Takes longer to wash my hair than you. I know you can’t wait to see lover boy.” Killer playfully jabbed.
“Fuck off.” Kid smirked. “I’m just excited to see him do this thing.”
“Sure it’s not the tight leotard he’s going to be wearing?”
Kid’s smirk turned into a wolffish grin. “Damn… yeah that’s gonna be a sight to see.”
As they walked to the sports pavilion a group of a few girls cooed, “Hiiii Kiiiidd~!”
Eustass inwardly cringed and gave a quick wave toward them.
Killer stifled his laugh. “I’m surprised no one knows about you guys.”
Eustass was the captain of the school’s swim team. He’s their anchor swimmer during relays and dominates his competition during solo events. He and his teammates have brought the university championship titles since his first year and they’re expected to have an even better season this year, after recruiting a couple of talented freshman over the summer.
Law is the captain of the men’s gymnastics team and posters of he and his teammates faces are plastered across campus. The school was known for how amazing their men’s and women’s gymnastics teams are. Some went to compete on a world level, a handful even making their way to the Olympics.
Eustass glanced down at the bouquet of flowers in his hand, wide smile spread across his cheeks. “Yeah. Until tonight.”
——
For the life of him, Law couldn’t stop looking up at the stands while waiting for the next rotation. It happened so often that Clione had even called him out on it. He couldn’t tell who it was that he kept looking at though.
Law was never distracted when it came to competition time. He was always laser-focused on his studies and in his extra-curricular activities. But damn was it hard not to notice firery red sitting in the stands amongst the crowd of people.
Anytime their eyes met, Kid winked, waved, blew him a kiss, or mouthed a “You’re amazing”.
It made Law giddy.
—-
Kid couldn’t keep his eyes off him. True to Killer’s word, the tights did not help! He was amazing! Almost everybody could swim (not as great as Kid…), but only a small amount of people could do the impressive flips and tricks that he was witnessing today. And Law, he was the best one out there! He bragged on his new man the entire night, much to Killer’s chagrin.
—-
Although knowing that Eustass was watching gave him undeniable butterflies in his stomach, it also motivated him to show off a little.
He had his best competition of the season! He beat all of his personal best scores in all the events that he competed in. Parallel bars, pommel horse, and floor. We even won 1st in high bar and pommel horse, receiving 3rd in vault (only Shachi and a guy from another school beating him).
