He was close friends with,and a lover of,Irish playwright and Novelist,Oscar Wilde,remaining closde to the writer,through his disastrous trails with the Marquess of Queensbury,the father of Wilde's more infamouslover,Lord Alfred Douglas,and Wilde's subsequent downfall.After Wilde's death in 1900,Ross became the executor of Wilde's estate.He died aged just 49,in 1918.
