Recently I began Okami, very charming nice game. I really liked Tobi and his torture labyrinth and lastnight he did his final race. I will tear that godforsaken nine tail fox apart with my teeth

People talk about him but not many seem to draw him so here! 2 of my favourite personal ocs of mine are paper pieces, one even with a flowing scroll form, so I am rather experienced in this incredibly niche character body type haha

I've now had a sleep and some time to process last night's HUGE Okami sequel announcement, so I wanted to sit down and put my thoughts into words.

I first played Okami around 2008/2009, on the Wii of all things. My brother and I were strictly raised as "Nintendo Kids" and anything that wasn't in the vein of Mario or Pokemon was considered too violent. I still remember my mum pushing back on Super Smash Bros, and I think she only allowed it because my brother and I could play it together.

By the time I was a teenager, I had never owned a PlayStation or an Xbox, and my only experience with anything remotely close to an RPG was Pokemon and brief experience playing Spyro . I had never played a Zelda game, and I didn't know who most of the characters in the Super Smash Bros Brawl roster were. We owned a GameCube, and Wii, and whatever the handheld Nintendo console was available at the time.

I don't remember exactly how or when I got hold of a copy of Okami for the Wii. I must have picked it up in a store, and I probably only bought it because it had a badass wolf on the front.

The artwork, the characters, the story, hell even the clunky Wii motion mechanics had me fall in love with this game so hard. I was intrigued by the development of the characters, I was SHOCKED when I defeated Orochi for the first time and realised that I had barely scratched the service on this game, I spent hours just fishing and collecting whatever the game had to offer. I mourned Tobi (and still do) as one of my most prominent fictional deaths of my childhood.

Gaming became more than just a time waster on the weekend. Playing Okami is most likely what helped unlock my deep passion for gaming. I'm 33 now and I adore games in a way my teenage self could probably never imagine. I immerse myself in the lore and stories, even in games where that's not even relevant (e.g. Apex Legends). Heck, I even ended up pushing through a game that I originally hated because I was so intrigued by the story, only for it to become one of my favourite games of all time (Bloodborne).

Gaming is my passion and a huge part of who I am, and I'm so fucking proud of that. Who knows how long it would have taken for me to realise that had I not picked up some random game in a store out of curiosity and been exposed to some of the most artistic game development I'd ever seen.

Over a decade after I first discovered Okami, and I'm sitting here crying tears of happiness as I watch a trailer appear on screen for a sequel I never thought I'd see. Okami truly is one of defining games of my childhood and probably my gaming life, and I will wait in eager anticipation no matter how long it takes.

P.S. Even this word vomit does not fully articulate how much this game means to me. There's no words for these emotions I'm feeling right now.

Rinto sounds so interesting, can you talk more about his relationships with the Akatsuki members? Also, can he shapeshift into anything? Or is there any kind of limitation?

About his relationships with the members of the Akatsuki, i will try to explain to the best of my ability:

Kisame and Itachi: They are the ones he pairs up with the most. He respects them a lot, and does have a protectiveness towards these two in specific. Rinto met Itachi when the Uchiha was still a kid, and had met Kisame once, after Rinto became a rogue ninja. So from all rhe akatsuki, he has a closer "bond" with them.

Tobi/Madara: Is the one that found him after he had become a rogue ninja. He saw potential in Rinto's ability and how it could help the Akatsuki, and invited the foxy ninja to join. Rinto do respect him, as he knows he is nowhere hear the masked man, in terms of power.

Pain and Konan: Is the leader and one of the founders of the organization, so Rinto respects them and their abilities. He only talks to them during the Magic Lantern Body Technique, so he doesnt know that much of them.

Sasori: is neutral about the puppet master, but he does like his talent with the puppets.

Deidara: Rinto doesnt hate him, but he does dislikes his explosive clay. Rinto's ears are sensitive, especially when in any fox form,so fighting alongside deidara was always a pain to him.

Kakuzu: is basically the reason Rinto doesnt like having a set partner. He was almost killed by Kakuzu if he hadnt dodged in time. At least he got a haircut /jkjk

Hidan: they sort of clash when it comes to religion. Rinto prays to the kami Ō-inari(Inari Okami), so he has his own beliefs. They dont see eye to eye, and Rinto prefers to avoid Hidan as best as he can.

Zetsu: he gets a weird feeling from him, but he still treats Zetsu with respect, since he is also an important member of the organization.

Orochimaru: He thinks he is gross. Powerful, but gross.

About Rinto's shapeshifting abiliy:

Rinto can shapeshift into other people, and into animals. He also can shapeshift into a small white fox, that he uses for faster escapades, and into a "Battle Fox" that is a horse sized monstrous fox form, that he uses to end fights and enemies more quickly. He cant change into objects with his kekkei genkai.

Rinto can also partially change his body parts into fox parts, like a "kemonomimi mode" that enhances his hearing, speed, and sense of smell.

To limitations to these forms:

When turning into other people, he can stay transformed during long periods of time, since the forms are human and with minimal bone structure changes.

When turning into the tiny fox form or animals, since there is bigger changes on size and structure, he cant spend more than a day transformed, or his body will ache.

The Battle Fox form takes a lot on his body, due to the big size and the structure of the body, alongside the fighting. He cant use this form for more than 2 hours or his body will ache to the point he cannot move. It can render him imobile for some time due to body fatigue.

Most Fun Ways to Play Persona 5 Royal

Ever since my much needed and surprisingly worth it departure from Destiny 2, I’ve had more time for other games I enjoy and P5R has been the main game that I’ve shifted over to, but a lot of people claim the game to be fairly easy (Twins fight, Lavenza, and Hard difficulty endgame not withstanding) and I wanted to offer a few of the ways that I keep this game fun.

Restrict your Persona loadouts to a single persona for the entire run. What kind of trivializes this game is the amount of adaptation you have access to and how nasty a lot of the builds you can create are. Obviously, you kinda have to give on the fights I mentioned a little to make sure you have some kind of a chance against Lavenza because she doesn’t pull punches, but the rest of the game can be completed with a well built and leveled Arsène.

Solo or duo runs. Teammates can take a lot of pressure off of your shoulders and save you from a lot of damage. Combat this by doing a solo run. Or if you like having a teammate, pick one to keep throughout the run and have a replacement teammate when you don’t have access to that specific teammate yet.

Theme your Personas. There are SO many personas in this game and so many cool persona designs. I have my personal favorites that I run regularly and I’ll definitely do a Top 20 list shortly, but not enough of them get the attention they deserve. So I theme my loadouts, particularly around mythology of origin or gender identity or the set they are a part of (like the Four Horsemen or the Fates or the Heavenly Kings).

Restrict your access to counters or items. The combat system can really straddle the line between making it very easy to succeed or making it difficult as long as you work it. Disallowing the use of weaknesses, technicals, or the Baton Pass system (Doing all at the same time is rough, but you do you) is a way of ramping the difficulty, so you actually have to think around your opponents can really make the balance a little more fair. Items also get really overpowered late game because of the almost infinite access as long as you’re watching your money.

Affinity Runs. As cool as your teammates are, they do get outclassed late game by a LOT of your options as the wild card, so force yourself into a lane. Pick a magic type (not Almighty damage) and restrict yourself to only use personas that have that base magic or attack type.

Be the Mom friend that Joker truly is. Let your friends truly shine and go full support. No attack or damage moves allowed. Only supporting your friends. The only exception fight in this run is Shido due to the final portion being a 1v1, so make sure you plan for not attacking until then.

Restrict yourself from the Big Boys. As fun as P5R is, there are quite a few Personas that give WAY too many benefits and make the game borderline unplayable. The ones that specifically come to mind are Satanael, Yoshitsune, Izanagi-no-Okami, Abbadon, and possibly Lucifer. The lack of weaknesses can make it very hard to die and Tyrant’s Mind, Country Maker, Myriad Truths, Victory Cry, Hassou Tobi, Null/Drain/Repel Physical, and really any unique Almighty attack makes death practically a joke.

The fun of P5R is the truth that the difficulty is what you make it to be. There aren’t only 5 difficulty settings. It depends on how gutsy you are willing to be with restricting yourself. Obviously, there are some challenges that just aren’t possible due to boss enemy resistances or game design or just outright impossible if you include Lavenza in your quest for glory, but the sky is the limit.

because i’m genuinely insane im trying to do a persona 5 royal challenge run where you can only use weak damaging skills

so like mabufu (weak ice to all foes) is good but mabufula (medium ice to all foes) is not

i’m including minuscule damage because it’s weaker, so things like lucky punch IS allowed

it’s on merciless but i think it’s pretty much guaranteed to be possible

with skills like hassou tobi and shining arrows (the best physical and bless skills in the whole game) being allowed you can almost certainly do this

i chose this challenge run because it’s pretty easy comparatively and since this is my first challenge run of any game and i’m not even that good at p5r i felt like it would be a good start

the only issue i’m having is that since i have the thieves den maxed out, i have the letter from jose that gives free persona summons, which is kinda unfair, so i have to find a way to fix that

i also am not allowing free dlc persona summons, it would be super unfair to just pull up in kamoshidas palace with an izanagi no okami with maragi or something

honestly i have no idea why im doing this im already in the middle of a seperate ng+ playthrough that i haven’t even beaten yet (although i am on 1/30 and the game ends on 2/3) i think my persona hyperfixation is just too strong i can’t go even a SECOND without an active save file in p5r

I’ve been wanting to host my own bracket for a while now - ever since I submitted a character to one of them a few months back, swore to myself I wouldn’t get invested in the results, but then ended up doing just that. Thanks a ton to @artificialkids-2k23-official, without whom this bracket wouldn’t exist!

The rules for submission are fairly straightforward, but I’ll list them here anyway. (Updated 6/3/23)

An obvious one, but all characters submitted must be dogs, wolves, or mythical creatures that are canine in nature (i.e. Cerberus or a dog-like Pokémon). Foxes are on thin ice. 

Anthropomorphic dogs are okay. However, please don't send in anime boys with dog ears or whatever. I think that's pushing the definition of "dog" a little too much.

Characters must have originated from a video game or visual novel. If they appear in a game, but it’s an adaptation of a movie, for example, they won’t be counted.  No, Homestuck doesn't count as a video game.

Named characters are preferred and will be given priority. I’m not saying that you can’t submit Granbull or every Nintendog, but in the case that there are more submissions than bracket spaces, they probably won’t make it in.

Please only submit one character at a time. The form is open to multiple responses per person, so you can submit as many characters as you like. (Just be reasonable with it and don’t send the same one over and over again?)

Also, while sending several characters from the same source material is appreciated, they aren't all going to make it into the bracket. I'm looking for a varied and diverse lineup, and want to limit it to about three characters per source. This isn't a hard and fast rule, but just...don't get upset if all twenty characters from the same thing don't get accepted, okay?

Currently, the plan is for submissions to close on June 9th, but this may be subject to change based on the amount of traction this bracket gets. As of right now, submissions are planned to close on June 5th instead!

I don’t think I really count as a “new” person because I’ve had Ōkami pretty much since it was released in the US and I’ve played it on multiple systems, but it’s one of those games that always feels new when you restart it, y’know?

I love Waka just shamelessly flirting with Ammy, he doesn’t even seem to realize how it looks to other people that he’s over here calling a wolf pet names?? He fucking dances with her??? Waka honey what are you doing.

The Orochi battles are sooooo fun. He’s like the easiest boss aside from the Spider Queen but I just love his animations and his confused little Lightning head so much that fighting him is fun even when it’s easy. The fact that you get to fight him THREE TIMES is an absolute delight for me lmao

Fuck Tobi. I hate that goddamn slip of paper so much. I do not have the motor skills to get through those races without wanting to cry at least once.

I miss the labyrinth of torture (I KNOW THAT SOUNDS BAD. BUT TRUST ME, IT WAS MORE LIKE A RACING OBSTACLE COURSE, I'M JUST DRAMATIC) The imps loved it, Tobi was a pleasure racing against.

I miss Oni Island in general, people may call it excessive for it being surrounded with lava, but I considered it well decorated! Nice and warm.
