Okay I'm still thinking about the Amity Park in Ohio thing so here's my proposal for this idea:
Reasons That Amity Park Should Be in Ohio (By Someone Who's Lived In Ohio For 2+ Years)
#1 It's Definitely A Great Lake State
Tumblr media
Amity Park has never been stated to be officially in one specific state, just vaguely central United States, possibly somewhere around the Great Lakes area. That specific area is often referenced by other characters in the show. Urban Jungle shows Undergrowth's roots stretching out from this general area, and the Lake Eerie mentioned in the show might just literally be Lake Erie.
Tumblr media
Of course it's kinda cartoony and I honestly have no idea if those mountains in the bottom right corner are meant to be the Appalachia area or not but it vaugely looks like the Great Lakes area
Because of this screenshot, I think most of the fandom headcanons Amity Park to be somewhere in Illinois, possibly close to Chicago, but we can basically point at any Great Lakes state and say "yeah that fits".
For my non-American friends, it's this general area of America (specifically Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Michigan, Indiana, and Ohio)
Tumblr media
But I'd also like to say that cartoons do have a tendency to fudge some details about geography (or completely change the states a la Steven Universe) so the map might not be 100% accurate. But with the map, it could technically be any Great Lakes State, so why not OHIO?
Which btw I'm going to be counting as a Midwest state for this analysis. Some people can argue it isn't, but from my experience living here in Ohio there are a lot of Midwestern tendencies. It's more like Ohio is the border state between the Eastern states and the Midwest, so it gets a mix of both.
B*tch H*rtman (as much as we don't like to talk about him) was also born in Michigan, which is a state in the Midwest, so some of Amity Park could be based (consciously or not) on the towns he grew up in there. But because of him I'm ruling out Michigan the state as a whole and Wisconsin for states Amity Park could be in.
#2 It Takes Four Days To Get To Wisconsin, Apparently?
Tumblr media
In Season 1, Episode 7, when they travel to Vlad's mansion in Wisconsin, Jazz says it will take "four days" to get from Amity Park to Vlad's Mansion (Somewhere in the middle of nowhere Wisconsin, basically). The geography is a little off for every midwestern/Great Lakes state except maybe New York if you're gonna count that but Amity Park does not feel like it'd be in New York state.
Ohio is the furthest Midwest Great Lakes state from Wisconsin. Case closed there. Of course, it doesn't take four days to get from Ohio to Wisconsin. It can roughly vary from 10 to 15 hours, depending on route options (such as avoiding highways and stuff), but still.
It's a road trip, so it makes more sense that they'd take longer to get there-- plus realistically people don't tend to drive 10 hours on a road trip, they probably stopped through the trip and spent the night in their RV.
#3 They Got Beaches?
Tumblr media
Amity Park does exist near a body of water. It isn't clear if it's a lake, river, or ocean in the show. It could be a lake. There's also the area in Frightmare, where Nocturne literally takes up space in some sort of port building/factory that gives the audience the assumption that it's on a pier/port. So they're really next to a body of water.
There is also the summer camp that Danny and his friends attend in Claw of the Wild which is said to be on Lake "Eerie". Which could easily just be Lake Erie, the lake that Ohio is on.
Tumblr media
Also Camp Skull and Crossbones?? What an iconic camp name. You could say the name is pretty,,,,,, camp (ba dum tss).
#4 Ohio's Just Like... Very Haunted
Tumblr media
Ohio has kinda become a meme recently. Not just one specific part of Ohio, but the entire state. The memes are mostly good fun-- like how the state is mostly just corn -- but I think some of the ~vibes~ of Ohio just fit right.
Like, there's no definite way to say which U.S. State is the most haunted (I think either the New England area or maybe Louisiana could take the #1 spot) but Ohio is definitely something else. Of course, we have the baby bridges and the haunted penitentiaries like Ohio State Penitentiary, but there are some interesting places that could be played with, too.
For one, there's an entire abandoned town called Helltown, Ohio, where rumors are cultists perform Satantic rituals, mutant creatures roaming the city created by an oil spill, and even a giant snake? There's also a place literally called the Gateway to Hell, too, which is right behind a Tim Horton's (oddly fitting).
Tumblr media
Bobby Mackey's is also in Ohio! If you've ever seen Buzzfeed Unsolved, you know what I'm talking about.
Tumblr media
There are also less hell-related spooky things in Ohio. Like, Lake Erie has its own Monster! We call her Bessie. Danny could definitely befriend Bessie!!!
#5 It'd Be Funny
Tumblr media
It'd be funny for Amity Park to be in Ohio. The Most Haunted Place in America to be in Ohio is just kinda funny. With how "cursed" of a reputation Ohio seems to have in a larger cultural context, doesn't it kinda just fit?
TLDR:
Ohio is a very cursed state, has a lot of supernatural lore to it, and I think Amity Park would fit in both thematically and almost geographically. Of course, other Midwestern States like Illinois do fit the bill, too, in this argument. But I am a firm "Amity Park is in Ohio" supporter.

DO WHAT YOU CAN AND DONT BE A DICK ON THE INTERNET
i was writing a post about how it's unhelpful to shame average people for not meeting your standards of activism and calling them evil and things like that bc shame is not a reliable motivator and you don't know these people blah blah blah. and then i ended up writing this so here u go:
like. let's imagine you're an average guy. you work a job under a shitty manager and you still can't pay rent and afford groceries at the same time. you have untreated physical and mental illness and/or trauma. you don't have energy to cook a full meal. one of the microwave foods you like is being recalled. lead or e. coli or something. you can't remember when you last had water. you are too tired to clean the mold and algae off the corners of your brita. and who knows what is in the tap water.
a new episode of your favorite show just came out. you post about it. someone comments or makes a video about you and several others who are not posting about [serious issue]. saying you are heartless and inhuman. and you've heard about [serious issue] on a site or from someone who is supposed to be the most trustworthy on this topic. this random person on the internet is telling you things that don't match up to that. they're telling you that you should've had researched more. that not knowing enough is not an excuse. there is mold in your brita filter.
the video about you has thousands of comments. they're saying they think you should know what it's like to experience [serious issue]. then maybe you would take it seriously. you have the privilege to post about your favorite show. you are being lazy. these people are like piranhas. your dinner has e. coli or something. you have to clean your brita.
you want to research [serious issue]. you care about people. you started to but you are hearing different stories. one of your sources is from the same internet the random person came from. you thought you weren't supposed to trust the internet? another source can't even stand up against itself. that one is supposed to be trustworthy.
you see someone getting torn apart for posting misinformation. comments say they should have done their research. these people are like piranhas.
now you're seeing it. raw footage. you need a break and your notifications are flooded. why haven't you posted about this yet??? it's the least you could do. are you lazy??? don't you care??? these people are like piranhas. you still need to clean the brita.
no more internet. you need to clean the brita. sponge, soap. tap water. thin green and black streaks coming off the corners of the pitcher. all done. well now the sponge has mold on it. new sponge. your brita filter is getting old. new filter. do you even deserve a new filter? do you deserve fresh water? whatever, just refill it. tap water. waiting. tap water. waiting. tap water, fridge. check your phone.
brita filters are getting recalled.
lead or e. coli or something.

thinking about be cool scooby doo fred on this delightful evening. he's afraid of widths. he gets emotional over a drumkit. he knows how to apply eyeliner perfectly. he's a sleep deprived, paranoid, manic danger to himself and others. he becomes enemies with a goat. his shoulders are so tense that they can break a chair. he goes to jail twice. where on earth did he get the funds to give the mystery machine all those high-tech upgrades. he hired a guy to make his epiphanies look more dramatic. the exterior of his house is an affront to god. he cannot take care of himself to save his life. he is a middle aged dad stuck in the body of an eighteen year old. he has childhood trauma related to halloween. he accidentally parked his van on a space shuttle. he is consistently aggravated by daphne’s commitment to the bit. he really needs to let go of those tiny red shorts. he's a court jester. he represents the order to his criminal father's chaos. he has control issues stemming from this but tries to overcome them for the sake of the gang and always apologises when he goes too far and knows that even when they wind him up it isn't a threat because he loves and trusts them so much and they care about him in turn even before he fully opens up to them about his childhood and—

Looking over my list of favorite podcasts and coming to the conclusion that my number one trait in a podcast is artsy symbolic nonsense and my number two trait in a podcast is humor that's simultaneously incredibly hilarious and makes me want to make the autism creature face and stare at a wall. Third most important trait is gore and violence.

All these election posts have me thinking about something I've noticed both in India and the U.S (especially since we both have elections at the same time).
And there is something I have noticed in common with both countries (and most likely world over) - majority of people vote based on their own community's interests. They vote in a politician based on what they can do for them and people like them specifically.
People in India constantly make jokes about free food at political rallies, but ensuring to people that you can feed them is one of the most effective ways to gain their trust. Trump, as awful as he is, understood how to appeal to people in a way that Hillary did not - which was why he won the 2016 election.
This means - if your criterion for voting for a candidate is based on their opinion of a social issue thousands of miles away, for a group of people you have zero connection to - it may be a sign that your community has few or no problems to be concerned about. In other words, a sign of privilege.

This amateur sketch resembles what a disabled child says what the Ohio Squirrel Man looks like.
”The thing was just all over our scarecrow- I didn’t draw him to my liking…”
“My dad went out with our guns with our mastiff, who is a good boy. He didn’t come back after a while, and I went out to our orchard with my stepmom…”
“I just saw this thing, licking our scarecrow like this-“
[the teenager then proceeds to mimic something like a rabid dog]
“my dad came running back with our dog at took a shot at it like ka-blam…! Hasn’t shown up since… but Dad found a nest in our old barn. He thinks it’s surviving off the rabbits, birds, and deer that show up around here… All I know if it goes after one of our cats: it’s gon’ die.”
Reports say that this may be a hoax brought on by a stray animal or trespasser on the property. Either way, this family was prepared and ready for the Ohio Squirrelman.

I think a lot about a diary entry from Captain Daniel Cushing at Fort Meigs in May, 1813. The Maumee River was an astonishing source of bounty—you could even fish in it using a red rag for bait.
Fine weather this morning, my men in high spirits, fish plenty, no want of provisions, all that is wanting to have things complete is a little whisky. I took sail in a small canoe this morning and caught 62 white bass that would weigh about one pound each; returned before dinner; caught them with a hook and line baited with a red rag.
There is a lot of talk of fishing in Captain Cushing's diary, and in other Fort Meigs narratives. The men started fishing for food very early in the year (and who can blame them).
Fast forward 210 years and the same place is vastly transformed. I know that I will never see the Maumee like Captain Cushing did, but at least in 2022 the ban on eating fish from the Maumee River was lifted.
I think the article "Learning to Love the Great Black Swamp" is excellent, but overly pessimistic. Since it was written in 2017, the restored Howard Marsh Metropark was created, and there have been other successful restoration projects.

Hey I wanna get into watching foolish more, does he have any sort of schedule? I know he streams a lot anyway but I was curious
Okay Anon I’m gonna be so real if you’re anywhere in Europe prepare to be up late 😅
Foolish doesn’t necessarily have a strict stream schedule, just tries to stream every day for at least a few hours. But he usually streams for 6ish hours most days.
He lives in North Carolina so these times are for there because it’s his most used stream space. If he’s in Ohio or LA then say goodbye to any schedule.
But typically he’ll start stream around 1pm est but it’s not unusual for him to be a bit later around 2-4pm est (which all this is around 7-11pm European time). Then he’ll stream until around 10-12pm est (3-5am European 😔). If he doesn’t start stream around 4-6pm est(11pm-1am European) then doozers start calling for the worst as it means he probably won’t be streaming :(

Hey! I was wondering which state do the other skelies live in?Like Wine seemed really surprised when he found out that Coffee was in Indiana, so is Indiana really far away from the state that they live in? Where on the map do the rest of the skeleton bros live?
Hope this question makes sense. Love the fic BTW ❤
Hiii!!! This is actually such a fun question!
So, when planning the fic out, I wanted Mt. Ebott (both the mountain and the city) to be in a place that IRL there wouldn't be mountains (I think it adds something that there shouldn't be a mountain there, but there is anyway) but also a place that a fictional one wouldn't be too out of place.
So, strangely, I looked up where some of the Appalachian plains are! I figured it was in a close enough area in a semi-mountainous region that could theoretically house a mountain but typically doesn't.
Funnily enough, there is some in Ohio, so I choose that as their genesis, specifically somewhere in the southeast.
Plus, if magic and monsters were going to burst out of a random mountain anywhere in America, I believe Ohio is definitely in the top three areas, even if the closest thing to a mountain in Ohio is an overzealous hill. 😭 Basically, the skeletons are from Ohio because of course they would be.
Oh! And about Wine, Indiana isn't exactly far from Ohio (in my opinion lol), but to Wine it totally is especially in reference to Coffee. If memory serves correct, it's about a four hour drive from Ohio to Indiana. Realistically, walking from one end of the underground to the other would take maybe a few hours on foot and Coffee's driving. In contrast, it's a huge distance, and one that makes Wine feel wildly out of (control) reach.
Thank you so much for the love 💗 I really enjoyed answering this 😊
