you can just Do This as an adult btw! find something that intrigues you and explore it academically, research it, put together a project for it in your mind. or make it into a Post or Maybe an article. show it off to ppl. there's something abt putting academic thought into stuff that makes you connect with it on a deeper level, and it can lead you to new hobbies or passions if you're struggling to care about things

you ever get assigned something as a project in school and for the rest of your life you have a strange attachment to the subject. in like seventh grade i had an assignment to make a poster about the elemental propoerties of osmium and to this day everytime someone mentions it im like 'YEAAAAAAH OSMIUM MENTIONED!!!!!!!!'

I have this headcanon that Duke is like… the only person who can shit talk Damian to his face and everyone else is flabbergasted bc like- its damian, but Duke lives with the guy and actually has no chill, so Damian allows it because… Duke’s like… his closest brother because they live together.. like-

Damian: *scowling around at people at a very important social event* Dick: *trying to get him to smile* Duke: *flatly, snaps his fingers twice in Damian’s direction* Fix your face Critter Dick: *ready to hold Damian back if he attacks* Damian: *bats Duke’s hand away, but smooths out his expression and almost looks… normal* ~ Duke and Jason: *having a discussion* Damian: *walks in* D+J: *laugh* Damian: What am I missing? I think it would be nice to have the option to hide numbers on ao3. Make it where the 'kudos' and 'hits' number is author-viewable only, have an alternate option for when a list is sorted by such so people can read things based off their tags and preferences rather than see big number go brrrr

I speak as someone with popular fics, it doesn't have to be a requirement but like, as an option? This could go for other websites too, tumblr notes and the like.

okay hear me out ik it’s mixing runs but still:

imagine all that stuff between joker, harley, and tim goes down: tim getting kidnapped, then brainwashed, joker junior happens, all that fun stuff and everything is the same event wise BUT tim either doesn’t kill the joker or he lives.

life moves on and tim heals as much as a vigilante can, harley leaves joker for ivy, joker still causes problems but no bat has died from him since jason and he’s still a psychopathic asshole but whatever. the thing is they keep tims past under lock and key, and none of the other bats know besides bruce and alfred.

it all comes to a head when they’re all kidnapped by joker and restrained and are losing hope by the minute for someone to save them and suddenly out of nowhere tim stills staring at something in the distance until his eyes go wide. the rest of the batfam don’t understand what’s going on until tim barks out a sharp command and two somethings come crawling out of the darkness and lo and behold it’s lou and bud (jokers hyenas) and they listen to him. they stop a bit in front of him only for tim to give another sharp command of gnaw before they’re shredding the rope. and right after they’re done, they lick his face like some overgrown puppies and tim doesn’t look like he’s enjoying it at all bc who knows who they’ve eaten. but tim gets up and unties his family and they all defeat joker before sending him off to arkham again.

this raises a series of questions like why do the hyenas listen to tim? why don’t they maul him on the spot? why are they acting like big babies and why does tim care where they go after the battle? why is he calling harley to pick them up and why does he have her number? so many questions.

I'm still thinking about how Ben's death was different from the others. How others will haunt yj because of the act of cannibalism, eating stricte their flesh but in this case they also consumed Ben's soul. Layer by layer Ben was deprived of humanity. Day by day he became less and less a human, person but a symbol, a thing that is supposed to bring benefits. He went thru 5 stages of grief, but not about someone but himself. We, as viewers for seasons observed how the yellowjackets team are taking off the masks, giving up social norms but this time we saw giving up the core of the soul, being. Survival. Other deaths were lacking internal battle, process, they were quick. Mostly silent. Their bodies were as prepared as they could have been in wilderness reality. Frozen, "clean". Ben was rotting, inside and out. It may be funny to talk about cleanliness in these conditions but he was there, laying for weeks, even without the basic cleaning of river water.

Food strike is one of the most famous forms of protest from prisoners. The last thing they can control, dying on their own terms. Yellowjackets took from Ben his control of basic body functions. Washing, eating, don't know about defecation but as a large, adult man now really without the ability to walk - we can only guess.

The scene of feeding him with the tube was the first one that broke me in all of the scenes of this show. He was stripped of the last thing he could control. That was a signal for them for the "medical" procedure, not to see how desperate they made him.

And at least - the thing he wanted the most was to avoid being cannibalised. Not only that he was but his head became a trophy, pig with the apple in their mouth, rich people's feast sign of power.

"Of all the ways of lose a person death is the kindest" - not in Ben's case.

Thinking abt the parallels between Luka and Adrien (+ their daddy issues)

Physically vs. Emotionally absent dads

How they both play their dad’s instrument

How they both wear their dad’s merch

How they both had preconceived notions of their dad before knowing it was Their Dad™ (Jagged Stone as Luka’s favorite artist and Hawk Moth as Adrien’s literal archenemy)

How Luka was abandoned and refuses to abandon others + How Adrien had to earn his father’s time and thinks he has to earn everyone else’s

= How they both are ASS at setting boundaries because of it

How (super randomly btw) the girl they dated happened to design things for their dad

^ How Gabriel didn’t even remember Mari despite her having a very active role in Adrien’s life, while Jagged Stone was closer to her than he was to his son

How Luka’s dad isn’t really ‘gone’ like Adrien’s mom is, but Adrien’s dad isn’t really ‘present’ like Luka’s mom is

^ How they’re both a living reminder of their ‘gone’ parent (dyed hair/blue eyes, blonde hair/green eyes) to their ‘present’ parent

+ Also think it’s neat how their outfits contrast (black vs. silver ring, white vs. black shirt, blue vs. blond hair); opposites, yet not opposite at all.

In honor of Mermay I just had a THOUGHT about abyssal mer Jason.

Like, he’s such a little cutie patootie when Bruce first finds him and integrates him into his little clan consisting of an acrobatic reef mer and and older, regular shallows mer.

And Jason is so smol and cute and fits right along the curve of Bruce’s tail in a way that makes him essentially vanish from the sight of predators. And, sure, his scales look a bit sturdier and stranger than the ones they know from other species of mer. And his tail fin is a bioluminescent veil of delicate membranes he uses to lure curious little fish and eat them, not to mention his tail is about thrice as long than that of other mers. But he’s just so adorable and obviously starving that Bruce, Dick, AND Alfred all disregard the strange little things about their newest pod member adding up in favor of absolutely coddling him. Mer children are rare enough as is, having one that’s so obviously malnourished is basically a crime.

So Jason grows. A lot. And then he dies.

And then he comes back just as a couple fishermen are ecstatic over having caught a live mer, water churning, and suddenly this absolute leviathan rises up from the ocean. Easily ten times the size of the fishermen’s ship.

Having Bruce meet his younger self is such a power move and also so fucking dickhead of every writer who ever does it because-

That is a child. Bruce can’t with children. He cant- he cant be cruel he can’t not reach out and try to comfort

But thats also him. Its him goddamn it and that well of self-hatred goes deep. 

Its him but its a young him, a grieving him, and goddamn it he can’t see a child in pain, and damn he reminds him of Dick and now he’s hugging his younger self but also he’s repulsed and can’t and

Do you think people controlled by the death note were aware that they were being controlled? Despite being unable to change a thing. Did they know that something was sosososo wrong in their mind and their body and that they didn't want to do what they were happily doing? Did their conscious minds scream and run desperately around to try and stop it, and find themselves incapable of doing anything? Anything but watch in horror as they contradicted their own wishes, watching through their own eyes like a screen, like a horror movie with growing dread that you can't stop the protagonist from dying, not matter how much you yell the right thing for them to do. Did Naomi know that she didn't want to walk away? Did she know? Did any of them?

This is a good time to talk again about how important the relationship between the Inquisitor and Solas is, regardless if it's a romantic one or not (maybe with even more weight and clarity on Solas’ character when it’s not the romance version because there’s less of those muddy feelings).

The way their connection, the trust and respect they have for each other, form and take shape during Inquisition is so organic and meaningful. Fen’Harel is a prideful bastard who doubles down on the things he knows even if they are wrong because he thinks it’s on him to fix them, and his arrogance keeps him blind to other options. But Solas, the one that walked by the Inquisitor’s side is, at the end of Trespasser, giving the Inquisitor the chance to ‘live well while time remains.’ But he knows them, he knows that the Inquisitor won’t be spending that time running away from this. That is Solas’ way of asking for help without saying ‘Please, don’t let me be right. Please find another way. Time is all I can give, see you at the end.’

And that is one amazing and strong connection, and a proof of trust, maybe even more so if the Inquisitor is not of elven origin, but a dwarf, qunari or human.

This isn’t meant to take away something from anyone. It's just that a lot of the focus in these online conversations falls on a Lavellan relationship or a romantic relationship, and the story of the inquisitor and Solas has more nuance to it, an often less talked about one.
