I figure I might as well elaborate on Odella a bit, since I have a backlog of doodles I can share.

Originally the name Carmine came to mind, which means "crimson", and along with it a ginger short haired gal (Thinking of Carmen Sandiego, I couldn't remember what she actually looked like, lol). Once that image struck, she more or less built herself.

However, obviously, she's not called Carmine anymore. I'm borrowing the name Odella from a Nuzlocke I started in 2016--Actually, I'm borrowing quite a bit from that one, character wise. There was a good motley crew formed in that adventure, so I feel it could work here, too!

But for now, I'm just talking about Odie~

Odella is the one who takes care of baby Velvet. I haven't decided on the details of how that came to be, but it's the case, lol.

I'm not entirely sure what she is--I soft-call her an elf, and may go forward with that being how I do elves, with the pointy ears and tails. It's only like that because I want it to be, although I have a potential lore idea as to why they have tails. It's something I'll have to think more on later. Right now I'm just here to have fun~

And of course she has a love interest, lol!

But I'll get into him later. ^^

The Ember in the Ashes series absolutely deserves as much attention as all the most popular fantasy books. Those books are so beautifully written and carry such important messages. I’ve never read a book that’s felt so fanciful but still felt so relevant to this world.

with slightly less whimsy than is canon (blame the fact I didn't really use a reference for half of it), also if you expected me to draw actual roadrunner wings in a pose I have horrible news for the you /silly

The final rescue!

I think I've finally reached a version of this illustration that I can say is the final one. It is the closest to what my original concept was from years ago so...

"The Rescue" final hotfix: Added lasers in the background and front layers as planned in the original version! Hey those Tenno have to be running from something! right?

Added more and better details to Ember Prime, the Ostron hostage and the kavat. That Ostron at least doesn't look like a zombie anymore!

New adjustments in tones, levels and colors.

Aaand I think that's it! It's finally over... for now.

I have actually had it, stop reading YA books if you don't like them and then shitting on them for being YA

Stop using YA as a negative descriptor when it is literally just a category

No one is forcing you to read YA, fuck off to the adult section and leave the rest of us alone

If it's boring, fine. If it's underdeveloped, fine. If the characters are one dimensional, fine. If the plot was lacking, fine. Say that. None of that is because it's YA. Some of the absolute best books I've ever read are YA and some of the most garbage worse than that Episode app shite I've read has been adult but you don't see me going around saying "bleh it's so..adult🤢👀" as if that's automatically supposed to be a given negative towards it

That's like reading a picture book and saying "eh very toddler-y" like??? Fucking DUH
