when u have to help save the galaxy and the jedi order but what you really want to do is be surrounded by many tiny pieces of former pottery. no a normal puzzle will not do. it MUST be something that will not be taken apart again.
“TROWEL?” I demand out-loud. Petty games with pillows do not interest me. Not when there might be archaeology afoot. Mazzy smirks, tucking the rolled-up futon against her other hip, and grips the handle in question more tightly. She frees the body from its pocket, showing a familiar eleven and a half centimetre wide triangle of steel, attached via a gooseneck—caranak-neck—to the wooden handle. “Clearly, I’m baby’s favourite,” she says smugly. She raises the trowel to her head and uses it to salute me. “Mazhar Forezo, Exploration Corps. We just finished unpacking the finds from this year’s excavation on Ossus.” I want my rolled-up futon back. I need to fling it to the floor and then fling myself onto it so I can scream into it. Forget any sleepovers. There are finds! From Ossus! New old things! Maybe even pieces of Odan-Urr’s Great Jedi Library. I move back and forth between standing on my toes and standing on the back protuberances of my calcaneus bones. There might be boxes and boxes of pieces of lives from before the Cron Supernova. Little sections of ceramic showing the edges of decoration, suspended in the greater matrix of a recreated vessel. Fragments brought together again after millennia and yet never able to be entirely whole ever again. Fast-drying glue, the inevitable accident of attaching a sherd to a fingertip and having to strip the top layer of skin off because the skin will grow back. I manage to strangle the scream into a soft, plaintive whine of: “Potsherds?”

“What have you done to him?”
“Something Master Odan-Urr taught me. A Force-blocking technique to neutralize an enemy without violence...but I never thought it would be so strong... so complete. And I have no idea how to undo what I have done!” [Star Wars Tales of the Jedi: The Sith War #6)

Deleted Concept For My Time Travel Fix it AU
Okay, so even though this concept is kind of fun, what would be less fun for the Galaxy is a full scale Grysk invasion. And because I wanted a happy ending for my story, I scrapped the concept of said Grysk invasion entirely.
A few weeks before the Grysk War starts, Jedi Masters Sifo-Dyas and Yan Dooku are expelled from the Jedi Order in absentia, because they abducted Masters Vokara Che and Jocasta Nu, Initiates Sabine Wren, Ezra Bridger, Kiren Der, Kyle Katarn, Shira Elan Colla Brie, Wee Dunn, Mara Jade, Hedala Fardi, Galen Marek, Tash Arranda, Belandi Feearr, Reva Sevander, Sors Bandeam, Jeswi Ele, Shia Letap, Lagan Ismaren, Roganda Ismaren, Ana Tathis, Dhara Leonis, Jai Kell, Roo-Roo Page, Katsuni Tamm, Looca B’Nash, Shin Hati, Jarea Kaela, Nonia Daal, Shaskaa Vis, Zoni Arziass, Chatra Varrors, and Sekal Vlahiel, and Padawan Mill Alibeth.
They also raided all the most important holobooks, holocrons, and relics from the Archives.  The items they stole were the Healing Crystals of Fire, the Great Holocron, the Tedryn Holocron, the Holocron of Destiny, the Heart of the Universe, the Codex of Tython, the Dakshee Holocron, the Holocron of Odan-Urr, the Holocron of Prophecy, Revan’s Mask, Exar Kun’s Lightsaber, the Darksaber, Darth Bane’s Holocron, the Holocron of King Adas, the Dark Holocron, the holobooks containing the Jedi Code, all the Memory Crystals, and a map of the Galaxy.

It's based off Odan Urr. A jedi historian from star wars. I just loved this guy and his story (and bookishness)
hello I’ve been thinking about this a lot lately. The anonymity of tumblr means that I associate my idea/image of you with your icon and sometimes I look at people’s icons and I’m like ‘hmmm….what is that and why?’
so pls reblog this and comment in the tags the meaning behind your icon and why you chose it. this is a social experiment. do it for science pls.

Sometimes, when you get Too Deep into a piece of media, especially franchised media with multiple authors, you will get to a point where someone will write something that is just wrong, and it will stick. It will become part of the accepted interpretation of the media.
Sometimes, this isn't a huge deal, and you just have to take a deep breath and handle it. For me, an example of this is the way that Star Wars: Knights of The Old Republic, an otherwise excellent game, popularised the use of The Mantra of Odan-Urr whilst referring to it as "The Jedi Code". It is not The Jedi Code. The Jedi Code is a literal code of conduct members of the order are expected to follow, consisting of 9 self-disciplines, 8 responsibilities, and 4 duties, and the Mantra of Odan-Urr is a meditative passage that Odan-Urr used as a preface when he collated the most famously and commonly used form of the Jedi Code. But KoToR was extremely popular, so now that Mantra has "become" the Jedi Code, to the extent that people forget the actual contents of the Code itself. It's irritating, but it's not the end of the world. Star Wars is still Star Wars even if this error continues.
Sometimes, it is a huge deal, and it actively is detrimental to the sorry being told, and you find yourself overwhelmed and needing to shake someone very hard until they suffer brain-damage over it. For me, an example of this was the conflation of the Golden Throne and the Astronomicon, and the role the God-Emperor plays in both, in Warhammer 40k. In early editions of 40k, there was the Golden Throne, which was a "life support machine" keeping the God-Emperor "alive" by sacrificing a thousand Psykers to it every single day (read: he's dead and his cult kills people pointlessly) and there was The Astronomicon, colloquially known as "The Light of The Emperor", which was a choir of one million Astropaths (Psychics trained in long range communication) all singing the same song in harmony about how great the God-Emperor was, which could be heard all across the Galaxy and which was used as a "North Star" for Warp Navigation. Then the prequel series The Horus Heresy was released, and more novels about the founding of the Imperium started coming out and it was determined that A: The Golden Throne is a plug preventing a crack in space-time from destroying the Earth and then all of reality, B: That the Golden Throne is powered by the Emperor, not the other way around, and that he really is kinda-sorta alive as a psychic-spirit trapped in his dead-ish body, actually kept present by the sacrifice of those Players, and that finally C: The Astronomicon is literally "The Light of The Emperor": it's his personal Psychic Presence acting as a lighthouse, which he can maintain because of all the Psykers being sacrificed to him.
And this is shit.
Because the point, the whole fucking point, of the horrible mechanism of the Imperium, is that there is no point: Warhammer 40k is equal parts reference humour about 80s sci-fi and lowbrow-but-scathing political commentary. The Emperor is a rotted corpse doing nothing on a gilded throne with people dying pointlessly in his name because he's a stand-in for the fucking monarchy. It's vital to the metaphor that there's no actual use to the fucker. He's a pointless old parasite, that's the gag. All the actual decision-making is done by the High Lords of Terra, a group of politicians isolated from the common populace by their immeasurable wealth who rule "on behalf of the Emperor", in the same way that the Prime Minister of the UK rules "on behalf of the Monarch". The whole fascist edifice of the Imperium is supposed to be pointlessly self-sustaining, with it being obvious that the whole thing would be much nicer for everyone if they just dispensed with the pre-text of the Emperor and put the heads of the High Lords on pikes. But now, with the retcons, Humanity literally cannot survive without the Emperor, and the Emperor cannot survive without the Imperium bringing him lots of slaves to eat the souls of. The retcons have literally justified the fascist state, undermining the entire point of the story's existence.
Anyway that's why I can't be trusted to meet anyone in charge at Games Workshop anymore. Because I'll start throwing punches.

"When a Jedi behaves badly in public, an observer might think, 'If this Jedi is a representative of the whole Order, then plainly no Jedi is worth respect.' On meeting a second Jedi, who behaves better than the first, that same person might think, 'Does this say that half the Jedi are good, and half bad?' On meeting a third Jedi, who behaves as well as the second, the person thinks, 'Was the first Jedi an exception, then?' In this way, only by the good behavior of several Jedi can the public be certain that the poor behavior of one Jedi was unusual. Thus, it takes many Jedi to undo the mistakes of one." ―Odan-Urr

Nah not people targeting my fave Odan-Urr...
Remember kids, a bunch of monks living simply in their temple and not displaying their emotions quite as vibrantly as I would expect because of my extremely narrow and literalist interpretations of one of their mantras are “hopelessly decadent” and this justifies a state pogrom against them which I will now attribute the blame/need for on some librarian from 5000 years ago instead of the evil wizard who subverted the government for the purposes of committing genocide

The Great Jedi Library was a building located on Ossus, and was the main repository of knowledge for the Jedi Order for millennia. Founded by Jedi Master Odan-Urr, inspired by the peaceful nature of the planet, it contained many scrolls, holocrons, lightsabers, and other artifacts, and doubled as a training center.

It’s T minus 6 days to Halloween! Do you have a costume yet? If not, read on – every day this week, I will provide a guide for how to dress up as an obscure character from Star Wars comics!
Day 2: Odan-Urr, the Librarian Jedi (Sexy Version)
Tumblr media
Odan-Urr is the founder of the Jedi Library on Ossus, and therefore a perfect opportunity to objectify the noble profession of librarians. If you can manage to get your nose out of your book, here’s what you’ll need for this creepy-cute look:
1. a skull mask (top half only; there are no jaws in space) 2. sexy librarian costume (teeny skirt, thigh-high socks, unbuttoned vest, etc.) 3. purple robe 4. accessorize to the gods (Jedi jewelry game was on point in this era: tiara, bangles, giant earrings, chains, chunky necklace, the limit does not exist) 5. the original Sith holocron (draw a triforce and cut it out; fold the outer triangles up and tape them together; paint it pink) 6. books (bonus: book cart, the better for Satal to steal from)
“Tales of the Jedi: The Fall of the Sith Empire,” issue 1: “Desperate Measures,” and issue 5: “End of an Empire.” Dark Horse. June 18 and October 22, 1997. Writer: Kevin J. Anderson. Penciller: Dario Carrasco, Jr. Inkers: Mark G. Heike, Bill Black, and David Jacob Beckett. Letterer: Willie Schubert. Colorist: Ray Murtaugh.

Star Wars Netflix series concept
So there’s been some talk in the fandom about a possible Old Republic era based series made by Netflix. Of course, it’d be hard to make a story that wouldn’t be awesome based on the Old Republic, but I want to throw my hat into the ring.
First, let each season tell the stories of a different part of the era. First season can be the conflicts between the Hundred-Year Darkness and the Great Hyperspace War. The Freedon Nadd Uprising, the Beast Wars of Onderon, etc. Season 2 is then about the fall of Exar Kun and the Great Sith War. Season 3 can be Revan’s story (unless we want to make that a movie, which we absolutely do), as well as possibly Zayne Carrick’s problems during the Mandalorian Wars. Possibly can a fourth season be about the events of SWTOR, preferably from the POV of the Hero of Tython and Barsen’thor.
Second, I propose a sort of connecting tissue between the seasons, a narrative element, if you will. Some time after the new movies or during the Rise of the Sith era, a Jedi master seeks to learn of the order’s past, and each season starts with them finding and activating holocrons that relay the story:
I am what remains of Odan-Urr. I will tell you the story of the Hundred-Year Darkness, the conflicts to follow, and the Great Hyperspace War.
I am Nomi Sunrider. I saw the fall of Exar Kun, and lived through the Great Sith War. I will tell you of these events, if you so desire.
I am Bastilla Shan (or Zayne Carrick). I redeemed the fallen Jedi Revan, and I shall tell you his story, and the story of the wars to follow.
I am <Insert name here>, Barsen’thor of the Jedi Order. I fought along side my fellow masters in the Great Galactic War, the Cold War, and the Eternal Conflict. I can tell these stories, so that the order may learn from them.
(Possible bonus: I am Jedi Lord Valenthyne Farfalla. I served with the great lord Hoth in the last days of the New Sith Wars. If you so desire, I will relay the story of this conflict.)

“The Eternal Watchman:
The model is of the S.D.F Karybdis, the original flagship of the Severian Defense Fleet. Having served in defense of the Principate between 10 BBY and 07 ABY, the Nebulon B Frigate was captained by Lucian Niatinus himself during his early years of rulership. Originally labelled the Tyrant’s Hand, it was renamed after a fast moving channel on Sirmium to reflect the Principate’s secession from the Galactic Empire.
The ship fought in multiple engagements both prior to and following the Principate’s formation, typically against rival powers and pirate groups. Supporting the Defense Fleet as a light carrier, the vessel earned a multitude of battle honours for actions beginning with the Battle of the Orphan Gulf, which saw the total destruction of a slaver guild which had plagued the Principate’s worlds for fifteen years. Later conflicts would include the Osalner Landings, in which the Karybdis engaged and destroyed five corvette class raiders as it served as the sole orbital support for the 422nd Evocati in an attack on a pro-Imperial holdout.
Accumulated battle damage saw the Karybdis finally retired in 08 ABY and sent to a deconstruction yard, but a turbulent exit from hyperspace led to it being torn free from the tug escorting it. The Karybdis fell into orbit over the moon of Einboldt, in an act its former crew have claimed was a final bid for freedom. This action led to public attention and, after its orbit was stabilised, the vessel was converted into a museum ship.”
----
This was one of several pieces produced for a recent Dark Jedi Brotherhood competition, offering up a gift to the Principate. The reasoning behind this, and the creation process will be uploaded in a second document, breaking down how this was all put together. This is just the end result of all that.
To make this clear: This was far from my best work. I was working with an unfamiliar material, forced to move my workspace more than eight times during construction, without the tools I would typically use, the paint brushes I would need for fine work, and against a crowded deadline. In that regard, while it isn't something I would typically bring up as an example of what I can do on my best day, I can look on it as what I am capable of when every single thing is going wrong around me. It's not fantastic, but it's still reasonably decent for its intended role.
I also have a building journal on making this one that I'll link in here once I move it over to somewhere suitable.
You can find out more at Clan Odan-Urr in the Dark Jedi Brotherhood.
If you are interested in joining then take a look here.
