trumpet: how the fuck are you so loud there’s like four of you
oboe: absolutely shaking in fear. you scare me. why do you sound like that
trombone: funky little guy, what the fuck are you doing?
tuba: you go!!
horns: oh. you.

Can I tell a funny story real quick? Yes? Okay.
So I used to play the oboe, which if you don't know what that is, look up both it and oboe reeds real quick before reading the rest of this story. I was also in my middle school's pep band.
And if you've ever been in band then you know how us reed players soak our reeds when a water cup is unavailable. That's right, we suck on them. So here I am in middle school next to the band bleachers, oboe in hand, reed in mouth, when a teacher/adult (I'm unsure I didn't know who she was) approaches me frowning. She walks right up to me saying, "You're not allowed to smoke on school property." Behind her is these two kids glaring at me, so obviously they had "tattled" on me. I decide, instead of calmly explaining to her what was in my mouth, to buzz the reed. The look of surprise on these people's faces was something that will stick in my mind forever. I turned and walked away before any of them responded but needless to say I was not kicked off the property.
And that folks is how I got in trouble for smoking at a middle school football game. Typing it out, it's a lot less funny, but still a good story. Maybe I'll tell more 🤷. I played the oboe through high school too, but since I played school-owned instruments I couldn't continue. It makes me sad sometimes but I also don't have the time for it anyways with my major.
Time to stop procrastinating home work. Bye!

Note
professional oboist?? I played for 7 years. Do you have any favorite solos or other pieces?
Yup, I taught, played in a ton of chamber orchestras, did pit work and random gigs, and was a professional substitute for the larger groups. I was also a church musician for many years, ironically the Catholic church I left as a parishioner hired me back, lol.
My absolute favorite pieces are the Poulenc trio and Barber's Summer music.
