sorrow and stardust …
pairing: obi-wan kenobi x f!reader tw: angst <3 word count: 2k ( give or take ) a/n: i haven't written smut in like 2 years please be nice
the twin suns of tatooine dipped below the horizon, painting the sky in hues of amber and violet. you stood at the entrance of ben kenobi's modest dwelling, your silhouette a stark contrast against the fading light. the cooling air whispered across your skin, carrying with it the scent of sand and distant memories.
inside, obi-wan - for that was how you'd always know him - moved about with quiet purpose. his weathered hands arranged two earthenware cups on a rough-hewn table, steam rising from their depths in lazy spirals. he paused, sensing your presence, and turned to face you.
"you shouldn't be here," he said softly, his blue-grey eyes holding a storm of emotions.
you stepped inside, letting the door slide shut behind you. "i had to see you."
the space between you crackled with unspoken words and suppressed longing. obi-wan's shoulders slumped slightly, as if bearing the weight of the galaxy. he gestured to the table.
"please, sit. the tea will get cold."
you took your place across from him, wrapping your fingers around the warm cup. its heat seeped into your bones, a stark contrast to the chill that had settled in your heart. obi-wan remained standing, his gaze fixed on some distant point beyond the walls of his humble abode.
"why did you come?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
"you know why," you replied, your own voice thick with emotion. "i couldn't stay away. not after... everything."
obi-wan closed his eyes, pain etching deep lines across his face. when he opened them again, they shimmered with unshed tears. "it's not safe. i'm not safe."
you rose from your seat, closing the distance between you in two swift strides. your hand reached out, hovering just shy of touching his cheek. "obi-wan..."
he flinched away from your touch, turning his back to you. the rejection stung, but you stood your ground.
"look at me," you pleaded. "please."
slowly, agonizingly, he turned to face you once more. the years of exile had taken their toll, etching lines of sorrow and regret into his once-youthful features. yet beneath the weathered exterior, you could still see the man you'd fallen in love with – the jedi master whose unwavering dedication to peace and justice had captured your heart.
"i'm not good for you," obi-wan said, his voice raw with emotion. "i bring nothing but danger and sorrow. you deserve better than a broken man living in exile."
your heart ached at his words. "you're wrong," you whispered fiercely. "you are everything good in this galaxy. your compassion, your strength, your unwavering light – even in the darkest times."
obi-wan shook his head, a bitter smile tugging at his lips. "my light? i failed. i failed the jedi, the republic, and..." his voice broke. "and anakin."
you reached out, this time grasping his hand in yours. he didn't pull away, and you felt a glimmer of hope. "you didn't fail, obi-wan. you did everything you could. the choices others made are not your burden to bear."
he looked down at your intertwined hands, his thumb brushing softly against your skin. "but they are my burden," he murmured. "every life lost, every system that fell..."
you stepped closer, your free hand coming to rest on his chest, feeling the steady beat of his heart beneath your palm. "then let me help you carry it," you said. "you don't have to face this alone."
obi-wan's eyes met yours, a maelstrom of longing and fear swirling in their depths. "i can't ask that of you. the empire... if they ever discovered my whereabouts, if they found out about you..."
"i know the risks," you interrupted. "i've always known them. but a life without you, obi-wan kenobi, is no life at all."
for a moment, the walls he'd built around his heart seemed to crumble. he leaned into your touch, his forehead resting against yours. you breathed him in – the scent of sun-warmed fabric, ans lingering tea.
"i've missed you," he whispered, his breath warm against your skin. "more than i can say."
your heart soared at his words, but the moment was fleeting. as quickly as it had come, the vulnerability in his eyes was replaced by steely resolve. he stepped back, gently disentangling himself from your embrace.
"but that doesn't change anything," obi-wan said, his voice firm despite the tremor in his hands. "i have a duty here, a purpose. i must protect luke, prepare for the day when... when he might be our last hope."
you felt tears prick at the corners of your eyes. "and what about us?"
obi-wan's gaze softened, a sad smile playing at the corners of his mouth. "our love is like the stars in the sky. beautiful, eternal... and impossibly distant."
the words hung in the air between you. you wanted to argue, to rail against the unfairness of it all. but deep down, you knew he was right. others needed obi-wan far more than you did.
"will you at least let me stay the night?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper. "one last night before..."
obi-wan hesitated, conflict clear in his eyes. for a moment, you thought he might refuse. then, with a nearly imperceptible nod, he acquiesced.
you stepped forward, pressing a kiss to his lips, the taste of him like a long-forgotten dream. his hands settled on your hips, but he held himself back.
your hands went to the sash holding his robes closed. as you untied it, you kissed him, hoping the kiss would convey all the words that wouldn't come. the sash fell to the floor, and you parted his robes. the skin of his chest was soft beneath your touch.
his hand came up to cradle your cheek. "i've missed you," he murmured, "more than you know."
obi-wan kissed you again, and this time, his arms wrapped around you, pulling you flush against him. his tongue teased your lower lip, and begging for you to part them. let him in. and you did. the feeling made you shiver. you were suddenly aware of how sensitive your body was.
he stood, you in his arms, slolwy walking you both towards the bed. his lips left yours as he guided you onto the bed, laying you down and climbing on top of you. your fingers tangled in his hair as his lips moved down your neck. his tongue teased at the place where your shoulder and neck met. his teeth nipped lightly at your skin. you moaned quietly, arching your back, pressing your chest against his.
obi-wan's hands slid down your sides, pausing to squeeze your breasts. a whimper escaped your lips. his thumbs rubbed across your nipples, sending bolts of heat straight between your legs. his hands continued downward, pausing to trace the curve of your waist, the jut of your hips. then his hands were on the bare skin of your thighs. you could feel the roughness of his palms against your smooth skin.
he pulled back, looking down at you. his pupils were blown wide with desire, and his face was flushed. his gaze was heated as it raked over your body, taking in the sight of you laid out before him.
"you are the most beautiful woman i've ever known," he murmured.
he lowered his head to press a kiss just above your navel. his lips moved upward, tracing the path his hands had taken moments earlier. your skin burned with every brush of his lips. his fingers hooked into the waistband of your underwear. he paused, waiting for you to protest. when you didn't, he slid the garment down your legs and discarded it.
obi-wan looked at you with a mixture of reverence and hunger. he ran his hands up your legs, spreading them. your breath hitched as his fingers trailed across your inner thighs.
"are you sure?" he asked, his voice hoarse.
"yes," you gasped.
he stroked his thumb over your clit, sending a shudder through your body. a moan left your lips as he rubbed slow circles. the pleasure was intense, and you found yourself bucking your hips against his hand, chasing the friction.
he dipped a finger into you, and the intrusion drew a moan from deep within your chest. obi-wan curled his finger inside you, and stars danced behind your eyes. he added another finger, and you couldn't hold back the sounds spilling from your lips.
"please," you moaned.
you could feel the tight coil in the pit of your stomach. your muscles were trembling, and your head was thrown back. you were so close.
obi-wan added a third finger, and the pleasure was too much. you felt like your body was about to shatter. your climax washed over you, and your vision went white. you were vaguely aware of the way you cried out his name, the way your hips bucked against his hand.
when the waves of pleasure subsided, you opened your eyes. obi-wan's head was bowed, his brow furrowed in concentration. the muscles in his shoulders were tense, and his chest was heaving.
"what's wrong?" you asked, reaching up to cup his face.
"it's just...been a while," he said through gritted teeth.
you took him by the hand and tugged him toward you. he resisted briefly, but you were determined. you straddled his lap, feeling the hard length of him pressing against you. you reached down and undid his trousers. obi-wan didn't resist as you freed his cock.
you stroked him slowly, relishing the way his body shuddered against yours. you pressed kisses to his neck, nipping lightly at the skin. he groaned, burying his face in your shoulder.
"tell me if i hurt you," he breathed.
"you won't," you promised.
you guided his cock to your entrance, the tip sliding inside you. his hips jerked, driving him deeper.
"fuck," he gasped.
you bit down on your lower lip to hold back a whimper. he felt bigger than you remembered. he filled you so completely, the sensation nearly overwhelming. you forced yourself to take a breath, letting your body adjust to the intrusion.
"are you alright?" he asked, his voice strained.
you nodded.
he began to move, pulling out slowly before pushing back in. his hands gripped your hips, holding you in place. his eyes were squeezed shut, his jaw clenched. his body was tense, every muscle straining against the need to let go.
you leaned in and kissed him, trying to soothe his worries.
you rocked your hips against his, eliciting a moan from deep in his throat.
"please."
you could feel the last of his resistance crumble. his grip tightened on your hips, his thrusts becoming more urgent. you could tell he was close.
his hips snapped forward, and you could feel his cock twitch inside you. he cried out, his release washing over him. he collapsed back against the pillows, his chest heaving.
you laid down next to him, resting your head on his shoulder. you were both silent for a while, lost in your thoughts.
"thank you," obi-wan murmured.
you pressed a kiss to his shoulder, savoring the warmth of his body and the smell of his skin.
as the first light of dawn began to creep across the sky, you stirred from your place in his arms. obi-wan's eyes fluttered open, immediately finding yours. for a brief, beautiful moment, there was nothing but love between you.
then reality came crashing back.
you dressed in silence, each movement feeling like a step towards an inevitable goodbye. obi-wan stood by the door, his jedi robes hanging loosely on his frame. he looked older in the pale morning light.
you approached him one last time, cupping his face in your hands. "i love you, obi-wan kenobi. no matter what happens, no matter how far apart we are – that will never change."
he leaned into your touch, his eyes closing briefly. "and i love you. may the force be with you... always."
with a final, lingering kiss, you stepped out into the harsh tatooine morning. the suns climbed higher in the sky, their heat already beginning to shimmer off the sand. you didn't look back as you walked away, knowing that if you did, your resolve would crumble.
obi-wan watched you go, his heart breaking anew with each step you took. he remained at the door long after you'd disappeared from view, his eyes fixed on the horizon.
"goodbye, my love," he whispered to the empty desert.

hello! i have had this scenario in my head for obi wan forever! little bit of background: reader and obi have been together for a while and the reader struggles a bit with her dark side. so the whole thing starts with obi and reader sleeping in bed when he has this kinda spicy dream about reader. she’s dressed up in a HAWT sith get up and is trying to get obi wan to join the dark side for her asking him if he loves her and please for me? in the dream he caves and nods not being able to say anything. when he wakes up he’s sweating and freaking out and is realizing he really would do it for her and it scares him but he’s more scared of losing her. sorry if that’s so long but i’ve spent so much time thinking about this🙃
her shadowed heart | obi-wan kenobi
pairing: obi-wan x sith!reader
word count: 1,3k
summary: where obi-wan gets seduced by the dark side
a/n: i love the dark side and i hope you enjoy this <3 feedback in any form is always appreciated!
warnings: angst, a bit creepy, mentions of blood
universe: star wars
Obi-Wan hears a quiet voice. He listens in more closely and finally realizes that the soft voice is saying his name. So soft, so tender, almost fragile. He listens to the whisper and opens his eyes, only to find that everything around him is black, complete and utter darkness surrounds him.
Turning in all directions, he tries to follow the warmth of the voice, but he can't see anything. His senses betray him. In fact, he does not feel anything.
"Obi-Wan", the voice says again, his name echoing around the darkness. "Come here, Obi-Wan."
As he turns in the direction of the voice again, he finally spots something in the distance, a faint light flickering. Carefully, he puts one foot in front of the other and the closer he gets to the light, the more he can make out the outline of something - of someone. The closer he gets, the darker the light becomes.
"Don't be afraid, Obi-Wan," he hears the gentle voice whispering inside his head, his focus on whatever lies in front of him now. I'm not afraid, he thinks.
He is now so close that he can see some kind of throne in front of him, a huge throne made of black stone, standing there like a fortress, completely indestructible. Taking one more step forward, he halts as he hears a silent splash. Looking down, he finds the throne being surrounded by a puddle of water.
"There you are at last, Obi-Wan. I've been waiting for you this whole time."
When he raises his eyes to look at the person sitting on the throne, his breath gets caught in his throat, his heart skipping a beat. With one leg thrown over the armrest, you look at him from elevated position, a gentle smile on your lips. Obi-Wan has to blink several times, reminding himself to breathe as his eyes focus on you. You look the same as always, somehow. But there is also something different about you. Your body is wrapped in a long black dress, with large slits on the sides that reveal the radiant skin of your thighs. The neckline of the dress is quite revealing, giving way to your cleavage, your collarbone. At your waist, the dress is held together by a corset with buckles and laces. The high heel boots peeking out from under your dress reflect the light. On your head sits a crown, jet black, with a shining ruby in the middle.
"Y/N?", Obi-Wan hears himself ask in the distance, swallowing the lump in his throat. "What is going on? Where are we?"
"It doesn't matter now that you are finally here", you smile at him, your eyes sparkling. Obi-Wan watches as you get up, walking down the few steps from the throne until you stand in front of him. He looks into your eyes, mesmerized, but for some reason he does not find the warmth in them that he usually does. A cold shiver runs down his spine when your long, pointed nails stroke up his arm.
"You love me, don't you, Obi-Wan?", you suddenly ask in a whisper, leaning into his ear as you start circling him, your palm sliding over his back.
"Of course I do, you know I do", he answers, standing rigidly in one place. Even if he wanted to, he couldn't move. It is as if you had trapped him, and yet he doesn't feel helpless, he's not afraid. After all, you are with him.
"I know, but I don't know how much", you giggle behind his back and step out on the other side, your hand now reaching for his face. Once there, you place your ice-cold hand on his cheek and where your skin meets, Obi-Wan suddenly feels a burning warmth. "Tell me how much you love me, Obi-Wan."
"My love for you is so much bigger than the entire galaxy", he tells you vehemently, leaning into your pleasant touch as he looks at you. "Words can't describe how much I love you. I would do anything for you."
"Anything?"
"Anything."
Your face is right in front of him and upon his answer, your beautiful eyes are suddenly glowing in an eerie red. One corner of your mouth lifts, as if he gave you exactly the answer you have been hoping and waiting for.
"Oh Obi-Wan," you say softly, sliding your hand down his neck. Obi-Wan places his hand on top of yours, your eyes locking. "Will you join me?"
"Join you?", he asks, frowning but with a smile on his lips. You shake your head, smiling to yourself, and run your other hand through his soft hair, loosening a strand that then hangs in front of his face.
"On the dark side", you whisper and Obi-Wan's heart suddenly starts racing. Frightened, he looks in your eyes, searching for any sign that you aren't serious, but all he finds is darkness.
"Please. You said you would do anything for me", you remind him, intertwining your hands. "Please do it for me, Obi-Wan."
His head is screaming at him, that this goes against everything he stands for, what he fights for, and he can't keep a straight thought. But his heart, his goddamn heart, is louder, drawing him to you and he knows he can't say no to you. So he caves.
Bringing your hand to his mouth, he places a kiss on the back of your hand, as befits a queen.
"I will join you."
Laughter rings out around you, disgusting, spiteful laughter that painfully rings in his ears. Staggering back, he finds it difficult to breathe and you let go of his hand, your eyes red and the veins beneath them bloodshot. The veins on your neck stand out, your face turns pale and your skin turns black from your neck down. A tear escapes your eye, but it is made of blood. Before Obi-Wan knows what is happening, your hand gently rests on his chest.
For a moment he feels hope. He feels safe. But then you push him back forcefully, so that he falls backwards, into the water. Only it is not water, but blood.
The last thing he sees is his outstretched hand, trying to reach for you. In vain.
Gasping for air loudly, Obi-Wan sits up, breathing heavily as he finally feels air filling his lungs again. He is sweating, his hair disheveled and he can't think clearly. All he sees is you. Helplessly, he presses his hands into his eyes, trying to banish the images from his head while he slightly rocks back and forth.
A quiet sob escapes him as he hears your quiet breathing next to him. Freeing himself from the blanket that is trapping him, he bends over to your sleeping figure, slumbering away peacefully. Obi-Wan reaches out his hand, wanting to touch you immediately to reassure himself that you are there, that you are you. But just before his fingertips can reach your skin, he stops. He doesn't dare touch you.
What if he had a vision? A vision of what the future could look like. And he didn't even bat an eyelid when you asked him to join him on the dark side.
He wasn't lying when he said he would do anything for you, and that newly found certainty scares him to death. He knows how much you have been struggeling with the dark side. And in his dream, he allowed it to corrupt you. Corrupt him.
Finally he forces himself to shut off his mind and touches you gently, not too much since he does not want to wake you up. But your warm skin is a welcome contrast to the cold he feels, and he strokes your arm gently. He takes a closer look at you and can't find anything unusual. He just finds what he always finds: warmth.
And although this visibly calms him down, he can't shake the fear that he might lose you one day. That you will step out of the light and into the darkness.
In that moment, Obi-Wan makes a promise to himself.
If you enter the darkness, he will follow.

"We're Not Promised Tomorrow." Chapter 20 "...How Do I Say I'm Sorry?"
Pairing: Obi-Wan x Fem. OC
W/C: 5.2 K
Warnings: lots of angst, injuries, fighting, high emotions, blood, panic, stress.
A/N: Happy New Year everyone. I hope the holidays were good to you all and if you do not celebrate then I hope the season was filled with lots of joy, laughter, and good vibes. The angst train continues in the chapter but this is its last stop (for now evil smile) after this chapter, the fit will turn a coroner into one of my favorite parts of this whole fic. If you have made it this far, I appreciate you sticking with it. Thank you all for any support that you give and happy reading.
Masterlist can be found here.
--------------------
Emily had cleaned her whole apartment, sterilized everything, and had thrown away Obi-Wan's torn and bloody tunic.
She placed his boots next to her tea table, folded his pants, belt and gathered his lightsaber, placing them on one of the sitting chairs in her living room
It was late; by her recollection, it had to have been at least a half hour after midnight. She was exhausted and emotionally drained. The dull throb in her head seemed to match the pain in her soul.
The 7 P.M sparring session felt like it was a lifetime ago but it had been only hours since the incident.
She had checked on Obi and he was sleeping soundly. He didn’t have a fever anymore and she had used the Force to again assess his injuries. His nose was almost completely healed and his insides were improving. Thank the Maker for Bacta.
Emily had changed her clothes when she had stopped by her room. She changed into her clean black sparring pants and a white short-sleeved top and laid down on the couch in the darkness of her apartment; the only light that came in came from the floor-to-ceiling windows that brought the chaotic, outside world of Coruscant inside in her sanctuary.
The fight that happened earlier in the evening seemed like forever ago...but the ache in her heart was as strong as it was the minute Sorv had entered the Arena and challenged Obi. Rolling over, she buried her face in the pillow and pulled her blanket up over her head, creating a cocoon of safety. She wanted to kick down the door of her bedroom and run to him. To throw her arms around him and break down all over again. To be completely vulnerable with her person was something she needed right now, even if she was royally pissed at her person.
She was so happy that he was alive and going to be okay. Yet, She also wanted to scream at him and tell him what an inconsiderate jerk he had been. Additionally, he acted like a complete macho, overprotective, stubborn male peacock who needed to strut his stuff to prove a point.
Attempting to sort through her emotions and control them (like a good Jedi) she allowed her mind to wander as she rolled back over and stared at the scenery outside of her wall of glass. The lights twinkled on the buildings and spreaders raced in all directions; it was truly the planet that never slept.
“Maybe he was right. Maybe Jedi aren’t supposed to have personal relationships. It’s not like we have training with how to handle ourselves with our own emotions....let alone other people's emotions.”
She drifted off to sleep as her stomach twisted itself in knots.
----------------
Emily could feel distress around her. It was bearing down on her as if it was trying to suffocate and swallow her. She had become hot and sweating. Restless from tossing and turning, as if she was trying to fight whatever was bearing down on her; It was as if her body was trying to burn itself from the inside out.
The feeling of sweating and burning woke her up, causing her to sit upright and gasping for air, fighting the suffocation. For as hot as she had been in the dream, when she woke up, the apartment air was cool and the mood peaceful. Assessing herself, she wasn’t even warm or that sweaty... nothing like what she felt while asleep. She looked around confused.
Her t-shirt and pants were dry, with no sweat or liquid present.
She extended herself through the Force, still confused. Had it just been a dream or a vision?
No, the source of heat and stress was coming from the apartment; that was shown to her through the Force. She could feel the pull of heat and an oppressive weight centering around her.
She tried to follow its weight to the source, her eyes darting around her quiet apartment. When her eyes landed on her bedroom door, it felt as if her head were on fire.
“OBI-WAN!” She gasped in a panic.
She vaulted off the couch and sprinted the short distance into her room, practically breaking the door open with the speed and weight she hit it with.
She burst into the doorway and found him in a pool of sweat and fidgeting in his sleep.
“No, no, no, no, no, I thought we were past this!” She hissed as she ran to him and ripped the covers off of him.
Turning, she ran out of the room to her refresher and grabbed two big towels and a small one. She turned on the faucets and soaked them in cold water. Emily ran back to her and placed the cold towels along his body.
She laid the compress on his forehead, dabbing at the sweat, and then sprinted to the galley-style kitchen to grab some ice and more towels.
Making two makeshift ice packs, she placed one on top of the forehead compress and the other by his side, the two main sources of heat.
She was already tired and worn out and didn’t know how much use she was going to be so the ice and cold compresses would help her bring down his fever naturally, buying her more time and wiggle room.
Kneeling, she placed her hands on his chest and stomach and started commanding the Force to flow through her.
She visualized everything she loved about him. His smile, those amazing blue eyes that gleamed like the oceans on Naboo, his wit and his corny jokes...how he was always a gentleman; usually so full of care, love and gentleness. The way he silently cared so much about his friends. What a great Jedi he was; centered, balanced, and brave.
Oh, how much she loved him; If love was tangible. She visualized the fever being cooled from his body, visualized her mending his muscles and tissue, healing him.
She had sat there and commanded continuous use of the Force for hours and hours. She would not give up on him despite how she felt about him at the moment. She had loved him her whole life, she would die trying to save him if she had to.
Emily felt like she was losing her grasp on reality. She had never healed someone for this extended amount of time. She was becoming woozy and she felt like her energy was draining itself from her body.
She was unaware of his state as her head slumped forward and she passed out.
The sunlight was coming through the blinds as it peaked into the bedroom apartment.
Emily had passed out on the floor, her head still resting on the side of the bed, hands still on his stomach and chest. The cold, wet towels had pruned her skin and made her shiver.
There was a faint beeping noise that was bothering her, causing her to wake up.
It wasn’t coming from the bedroom, it sounded from somewhere else in the apartment.
She was too tired to move. Maybe if she ignored it would stop? Then she could just go back to sleep.
After two minutes of continuous buzzing and beeping she begrudgingly got up and stumbled into her living room.
The sound was coming from Obi-Wan’s pants.
She sleepily fumbled with them until she found a comlink in his pants pocket.
“Master Kenobi’s Comlink.” She said groggily.
“Who is this?” The voice on the other end sounded.... hostile... accusing and even a bit...stunned... as if they weren’t expecting her to answer; which in fairness to them, they weren't.
Their tone caused her to become more alert.
“Who is this? You called this line?” She didn’t want to give anything away that she didn’t have to.
“This is Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, his mission partner... Now I ask again, who are you?”
She relaxed.
“Hi Anakin, sorry for the guessing games, it’s Master Marblu.”
There was a pause; he didn’t answer right away.
“Hi, Emily.” He sounded lighter, more smug sounding. She pictured that stupid, self-satisfied smile she was probably wearing.
“Is Obi-Wan there? He was supposed to meet us at the hangar for a mission this morning, and he’s late….very late. Considering he's never late for anything, I knew something had to be up.”
Someone was giggling in the background…Emily listened harder...yes it was definitely a girl giggling.
“I don’t think he’s gonna make it to the mission today, Anakin. He was in an accident last night in the Arena. We were sparring and he did something stupid and he’s pretty injured. He’s sleeping right now and he couldn’t move if he wanted to.”
“Is he alright?!” Anakin's tone had changed quickly from amusement to worry.
“He is fine now. He was worse last night. Like I said, he’s sleeping and his injuries are healing for the most part. I patched him up last night, I have a med kit in my apartment. Are you able to do the mission without him? I could step in if you need me to.”
She didn’t want them to worry about him if she could get him on the mend and keep him there. She additionally didn’t want to leave him alone in her apartment in that condition, but she didn’t want his team stranded either. Maybe Xira could babysit him while she was gone if she had to?
“No, that's okay Emily, but thank you. You just take care of him for us while we’re gone. We’ll be back tomorrow afternoon and we’ll check in on him. Keep me posted if you need anything, I’m always here.”
“Thanks Anakin. I’ll keep you posted and he’s in good hands, I promise I’ll take good care of him.”
“Well now, don’t take care of him too well if you know what I mean, he’ll become spoiled.”
Now he and the female voice were laughing. What were they insinuating?
“Bye Anakin and Ashoka.” She spoke in a sing-song, teasing tone. She had a hunch of what they were getting at despite them supposedly being in the dark.
“Bye Emily.” He teased her back.
The comlink disconnected.
Well there was no going back to sleep after that, she was awake now for sure.
She noticed that the chronometer in the bedroom read 8:30 A.M. as she took the towels off of him and put them in the hamper in the refresher. His bandages would need to be changed again but she didn’t want to wake him up just for that yet, it could wait a while longer.
She made herself a cup of cinnamon tea but kept the pot boiling; he’d be awake soon and knew how he'd love a cup.
She had a blend that she had gotten from another healer in the Medical Wing that was specifically designed to help speed up the healing process as it was loaded with special vitamins and herbs.
She was sitting on her couch reading the morning news on her datapad when she heard the bed shift and squeak in her room.
“He would try to get up by himself.” She huffed irritatedly, rising to her feet.
“Nope; lay back down.” She commanded as she briskly walked back into her room.
He ignored her.
She placed her hands on his shoulders and gingerly forced him back on the pillows.
“There’s nothing you need that I can’t get for you.” She told him, sitting down on the side of the bed as she helped him settle himself.
He made a grumpy "hmph" sound as he fumbled with the covers.
“How are you feeling?” She asked, touching his forehead. His skin felt the coolest it had since the event.
She took his face in her hands and titled it slightly in different directions to examine his nose. “Your nose has healed and isn’t broken anymore, so that’s good.”
He sighed as he surrendered to her fussing.
“I’m fine, I just wanted to get up and stretch... you don’t have to help me. I don’t want to inconvenience you.”
“No, you need to stay put.”
He put his head back on the pillow and huffed in annoyance again. If she hadn't been so angry with him from the night before, she would be amused with all the huffing he was doing. Like an annoyed Bantha calf who was being smothered by his mother.
His groggy voice brought her out of her daydream of a little Bantha calf taking a temper tantrum. “What was the horrid beeping noise this morning?”
As soon as he asked the question, a wave of recognition washed over him causing him to jolt forward and grab her hand despite the dull ache of pain in his side.
“THE COMLINK! I’M LATE FOR A MISSION!” He tried to use her as leverage to get out of the bed but she stopped him.
“Easy killer, easy. They already called looking for you and I sent them off without you, you need your rest, plus you couldn’t go in this condition if you wanted to.”
He formed the same irritated expression that was on his face during their fight last night.
“You answered my comlink? What was your excuse for having it? Where was I? What did you tell them? And that wasn't your call to make...”
“Slow down and calm down. First off, I told Anakin that you were hurt because you did something very stupid in the Arena last night, which you did, and that you were too injured to show up today. I told him I had to take you back to my apartment to heal you and I was letting you sleep. And guess what, like the independent, big boy he is, Anakin wished you well and went on his mission with Ahsoka and the troops. I told him enough of the truth and surprisingly well it works well...when people listen.” She smiled a sarcastic smile.
He rolled his eyes and looked away from her. “He has a big mouth, he probably found it amusing that you answered and now he won’t be able to keep his mouth shut about it; fantastic.”
“Mmmmm I disagree. He was amused, that’s for sure but I think you're making a bigger deal out of it than he did. Nothing incriminating happened last night, for once, and we can honestly abide by that story if we have to. Someone’s bound to notice the damage in the Arena and the trail of blood that you dripped from the Arena to my apartment. ” She folded her arms across her chest.
He shook his head and chose to move on and drop it. He was tired, sore, and still angry about the previous evening. Yet, one fight with Emily was enough for a lifetime, never mind two in less than 24 hours. As angry as he was, he didn't want to fight with her again if he could help it.
His hands felt the sheets on the bed that were still cold and wet.
Changing the subject, she scoffed at the annoyance of damp, cold sheets. “Why is the bed all wet and cold?”
“You were running a very high fever at various points in the night. I grabbed a bunch of towels and ice packs and threw them on you... I sat down to heal you and further bring it down too. Last I remember it was about 4 in the morning and I was blacking out from exhaustion.”
There was no emotion in her words. They were blank and matter-of-fact. Like he was just another patient again. She had kept up that demeanor since last night. Obi-Wan knew what she was doing; she was detaching herself from her emotions to not fight with him either.
His eyes snapped to hers, “You had to heal me again?….." His mind started racing as he was now fully processing her words. You were able to hold out for that long after everything that happened last night? For almost two hours?” Unlike her, his expression and voice was full of emotion as he was starting to understand what it means when someone loves you.
“Yup.” Short, sweet, and to the point was still her preferred method of speaking to him.
Before he could say anything else she got up from the bed. “I want you to drink a cup of tea, it's a special health blend from a friend who’s a healer and will help you get better quicker, so no arguments. We can't have you hanging around in this bed forever." She spoke to him from over her shoulder as she left the room.
Leaning back against his pillow, he let out a long deep breath and blinked rapidly; he was misty-eyed. That’s three times now in 24 hours she saved his life or sacrificed herself or her well-being for him.
While he was still being a total jerk....an ass....completely terrible to her. Even though he could tell that she was insanely angry at him, she had done everything to save his life. He knew she still felt this way, if he extended himself, he could feel it in their bond and her in her Force signature.
“Because that’s what you do when you love someone you fool. You stand by them and take care of them through thick and thin....even when they do not deserve it." He stared at the ceiling.
Alright, enough now Kenobi. Be a man, when she comes back you need to use your words. You are always preaching to Anakin about patience, humility, and using your words. It's time to listen to your own teachings matter how difficult it is." ” He spoke to himself, self-loathing brimming. However, this new experience did give him a new perspective on Anakin's Padawan years.
Emily came back shortly after his thoughts had settled with a steaming mug of the ruby-colored tea. “Drink.” She commanded as she handed it to him.
Normally, he liked tea and this one was very pleasing. Fruity, with a hint of spice; very flavorful. He took two large sips and could feel the warmness spreading through his body. It tingled as it flowed through him.
He closed his eyes, relishing in the relief it brought.
“Wow, this stuff really works...I can feel it going through me, and I've only had two sips...”
“Keep going; finish the whole thing.” It was a pointed order from her.
He wanted to talk to her instead of focusing on the tea, that was more important to him. But if he knew her, she wouldn’t let him do anything until the cup was finished.
He took the rest of it in large gulps that burned his throat, but he didn’t care.
He placed the mug on her bedside table. Rising slightly and shifting his position to be more at eye level with her, he took her hands in his.
His touch caught her by surprise; and threatened to make her crack; allowing all the emotions she had been holding back to burst. She was still angry at him, figuring her curtness had communicated that. She had stuffed all of her emotions down and was being a “good Jedi.”
That is until he touched her and he looked at her with those eyes that made her heart stop beating, reminding her of a calm ocean after a rocky storm.
She tried to pull away from him, but he put up a gentle resistance, keeping her in place.
“Please. Don’t run from me.” Obi-Wan whispered to her. His glossy blue eyes looked at her seriously.
She could see the sadness in them and could feel it in his Force signature. His voice was soft and quiet as if he was afraid to use it.
“What is it? I'm sure whatever it is, it can wait, you need your rest.” Her voice was raspy and throaty. She shifted her eyes to his hands, if she looked at his face instead with those beautiful eyes, she was going to become emotional again and she was tired of crying. The rollercoaster of emotions had taken its toll on her.
Yet Obi-wan held fast. He moved so that he held both her hands in one of his, and used his other hand to lift her chin, ever so gently, so that their eyes met. “I owe you the biggest apology. Emily…you saved my life three times yesterday, and if you hadn’t done it the first time, then you wouldn’t have been able to do it the other two times. I was able to have that fight with you because you saved my life, and I chose to take the path of frustration, arrogance, and anger in the moments when I should have been thanking you and telling you how grateful I am to you; because I am grateful. I am so incredibly grateful...Throughout his childhood, I was always there for Anakin, but no one was there for me in that way....he was like Padawan, kid brother and son all mixed into one. I didn't know someone could love me that deeply to you...My Darling; sometimes I can't believe that someone loves me enough, let alone that you are that someone...that you love me enough to fight back for me like that, to push yourself to your brink more than once, for me.”
Her lip started to quiver.
"I love you more than anything...but please, you have to understand why I am so angry with you....even if I shouldn't be. Please tell me you understand how you have not made yourself a target of that sick and vile human....the thought of him makes my skin crawl and my blood boil...I almost can't bear it..."
His eyes bore into hers as he gripped her hands tighter. "why Em? Why did you do that? He's going to harass and toy with you every opportunity he gets... His focus was on me and I was trying to keep it there..."
Emily’s eyes were watering. “......He was hurting you….” The tears started falling rapidly as her breath came out erratic gasps.
That was it. It sounded so basic, so simple; but it was no less true. She would never let anyone hurt him if she could help it. It didn't matter that it was someone who was once a friend and fellow Jedi, but had now become a borderline vindictive and manipulative psychopath.
Obi-Wan softened. He couldn't stand to see her cry, and she had been doing so much of that lately.
Leaning forward, he used his thumb to wipe away every tear that fell from her warm and gentle chocolate eyes.
As she attempted to control her breathing, He gave her that half-smile he was famous for.
“It seems as if someone is as protective of me as I am of them.”
They chuckled together while he now held her face in his hands. His thumbs continued to dry her tears...the lightsaber-worn pads of his thumbs rubbed themselves soothingly into her skin.
“Emily, the thought of leaving you alone in life makes me worried sick. If I had died, my last thoughts would have been about you. How much I love you and how sick with regret and worry I would be that now I can’t be there for you, that you would have been at his mercy in that moment ... I know what I did was wrong, I should have listened to you and denied his challenge.....Yet I don’t regret fighting him, he needs to be stopped and I wanted it to be me who did it. I’m sorry, I’m still angry about what happened. I don’t like what you did. Just as you had to witness your fears last night, one of mine is not being able to protect you; it’s who I am and I won't apologize for it. Now that you stepped in, you technically have to fight him to finish the challenge. He’s not going to forget about that.”
“I’m still upset too. If you hadn’t accepted then none of this would have happened. I told you to just walk away, and everything would have been fine. I understand why you’re upset, that you don’t want me to fight him because he’s unstable, but I couldn’t let him hurt you, I just couldn't, I snapped. I’m sorry, I was scared and angry. Then when you started yelling at me, between what Sorv did, Mual's visions, and what I saw during the fight, I just lashed out at you in anger, I said things I shouldn’t have and I’m sorry.”
She removed his hands from her face and held them.
Obi-Wan returned the jester, holding her hands lovingly. “Then let's agree to disagree because we aren’t going to get anywhere; we were both right and we were both wrong it sounds like. We had our reasons for the way we reacted. To be perfectly honest, I can’t fight with you. It hurts me too much and it’s a waste of time because it’s not going to solve or change anything. Not only that, we’re allowing him to come between us, and I won’t allow that, not him. If we’re going to fight then let it be about something better than him. I’m sorry I was horrible and rude. Thank you so much for being there for me. My Dear, I love you. If this situation comes up again, I pray I’m around. I’ll let you do what you feel you have to do when the time comes because I do know you can handle yourself, but I will step in and end it if I have to; I’m done with his games.”
She leaned forward and gently hugged him, mindful of his side. Her head was buried in the crook of his neck. He wrapped his arms around her and leaned back so that they were resting on the pillows.
“Obi-Wan there isn’t anything you can’t protect me from. You’ve never failed me. The reason you failed last night was because you fought fair and he didn’t. You aren't a monster like he is and I don’t know if you ever could be, but that’s why I love you and not him. I don’t want you to be a monster. Yes, I agree. We did what we did, it is what it is and we have our reasons. If he comes back looking for another round, we’ll go from there. But honestly, I don’t know if I even accept his challenge, it’s not worth it. He’s not right in his mind; I’d rather involve the council sooner rather than later.”
She couldn’t see his face, she was still buried in him. He raised his eyes to the heavens and thanked the Force she didn’t feel the need to go after Sorv. He wouldn't stop her from accepting his challenge, because that would be the double standard that they argued about, but he’d absolutely go with her to the challenge. Knowing that she would have to fight that madman made him want to turn into a monster if it meant protecting her.
He placed a loving kiss into her hair. “We’ll go from here if it ever comes up again. We seem to have an understanding. For now, let's move on. My time with you is more precious and important than to waste it arguing about him and his foul games. I love you, I will always protect you, and stand by you. Always.”
She lifted her head and kissed his lips. “Why do you get to have the big mushy lines that quell my anger and suddenly I’m in love with you all over again?” She was smiling.
“Ah, because that’s just it My Love. I’m a stupid fool who is hopelessly and uncontrollably in love with you. And unfortunately for you, My Dear, you happen to love this fool back. I mean...I’m irresistibly handsome and charming so you have no shot of resisting me and I get infinite chances at making you smile again.” He teased her.
He closed the distance and attempted to kiss her but she was laughing. He still kissed her anyway.
Emily giggled, turning into his advances, and easily found his lips.
“I don’t know about infinite chances but you might be onto something with the charming and handsome part. And you're right. I do love you back. Sometimes I’m scared at how much I love you back and maybe it’s okay that you know that.” His beard tickled her as snuggled back into him.
He held her close and rested his forehead against hers. The day had started with them being miles apart from one another even though they were under the same roof. Now, the distance was gone and their hearts were whole.
They lay there for the morning, drifting in and out of sleep, content to be next to one another.
By early afternoon she had changed his bandages. She ran to his apartment and grabbed him a new, clean tunic. They changed and dressed and went to speak to the Jedi Council.
They gave their somewhat altered, slightly rehearsed statement of the story together, to Council. Rehearsed and altered only in the sense that they left out their argument and this morning's words of love; everything else was as exactly as it happened.
After they were dismissed, Jedi Master Sorv Deprov was escorted by two temple guards into the Jedi Council Chamber. Normally Obi-Wan sat on the council but given that he was involved in this matter, he was not allowed to sit as an active council member during Sorv’s questioning.
Master Derprov neither accepted or rebutted the charges against him as Master Windu repeated the accusations and Master Yoda questioned him for his side of the story..
When the council spoke to him, the Jedi master in question simply just stared back at them, blankly; void of all emotion.
Luckily for Emily and Obi-Wan, their story matched up with the cracks in the Arena wall and the pool of blood on the ground, because Sorv, mysteriously, had not a scratch on him.
Given the fact that Sorv made no effort to defend himself or add any input to the story, and given his reputation for struggling with aggression, the Council unanimously ruled in Obi-Wan and Emily’s favor.
Sorv was suspended from the field until further notice, temporarily stripped of his clone regiment until his sentence was served, and was confined to the Temple and its grounds. Additionally, he had to engage in group meditation with Master Yoda three times a week to gain control of his anger and emotions.
“I accept my sentence.” Was the only thing Sorv said during his questioning, the empty stair plastered to his face. His eyes were hollow, void of emotion…Master Yoda thought that even rage would be acceptable…normal for the master even…but emptiness ... the elder Jedi found that even more concerning.
“A closer eye I will keep on him, during the meditations, I will.” Yoda thought to himself as he watched the suspicious Jedi be escorted out of the chamber.

Palpatine: My boy, Master Kenobi is lying to you!
Anakin: ?...yeah? He does that? Lying is Obi-Wan's favourite sport. Bant told me that he was dropped on his head by Master Qui-Gon when he was a child and Master Qui-Gon was really tall, so the fall shook loose some things in his brain and now Obi-Wan is allergic to giving straight answers. It took me 3 years to figure out his favourite colour. and his birthday. 5 to figure out that he's allergic to shellfish. I once told a restaurant that Obi-Wan can't have shrimp and he told me to "stop giving information to the enemy". I've made a game of it really.
Palpatine: *muttering under his breath* ok try using shrimp next time
Anakin: what?
Palpatine: Nothing!
#look it'd be so funny if palpatine slandering obi wan doesn't work because anakin has accepted that obi wan is just the weirdest person ever#rako hardeen arc where instead of unstable angst anakins like oh hope obi wans having fun he's had a fake death vision board for ages#anakin saying all this as if he is not also the weirdest person ever to non-jedi and even most other jedi mr my dad is a cosmic energy#anakin skywalker#obi wan kenobi#anakin and obi wan#star wars

you think i'm gone 'cause i left - anakin skywalker/darth vader x fem!jedi!reader (part 1 of 3)
summary: After failing to save you from a painful death, Darth Vader remembers his past with you and realizes why he can never completely leave Anakin Skywalker behind.
warnings: angst, no use of y/n, reconstructive surgery, blood, mentions of major character death (or not who knows), darth vader is his own warning
word count: 3.8k
a/n: First of all, I must say that English is not my native language. Also this is my first x reader format fanfiction. I'm pretty sure I made some mistakes but I hope you don't mind guys. I am always open to your suggestions ♡
part 2
Darth Vader, the master of the dark side of the Force, the legendary lord of the Sith, the tyrannical leader who terrorized the galaxy, remembered very well the moment when he swore to dedicate his worthless life to Lord Sidious, his lord and savior.
While his body, burned and torn apart by the lava, was trying to be fixed by the health droids, he was writhing in despair and moaning in a painful voice. The wave of pain spreading from his lungs to the rest of his body with each breath showed him a type of physical pain he had never experienced before, and even the cold metal hands touching his burned skin were insufficient to alleviate his pain.
"He should be unconscious by now," he heard a distant and very deep robotic voice, which he thought belonged to one of the medical droids. Yes, the pain he felt at that moment would be enough to kill another human being and maybe even drive them insane, and God knows that's what Anakin wanted with all his heart as he lay on the operating table screaming. But how could this be possible when he sees your lifeless body over and over again every time he closes his eyes?
In fact, he had calculated all the possibilities down to the smallest detail while making his plan. There was no war he wouldn't fight, no enemy he wouldn't face to create a future that included you. He was ready to turn his back on the entire galaxy just to see you smile one more time. Moreover, Palpatine had made a promise to him. He said that contrary to popular belief, it was possible to resist death and that he knew how to do it, and that he would help Anakin in trying to save you. All he had to do was accompany him to the dark side. Anakin had done everything he was told. He had given up on who he was, accepted the name his new master had given him, brutally executed separatist leaders, and led thousands of clone troopers in attacking the Jedi Temple he once called home. Even killing those little children who looked at him with admiration with the lightsaber they saw as a symbol of peace was not important to him. Of course, he wasn't proud of himself for betraying what he believed in in his past, but he also knew that what he did was a small price to pay to save you. So why didn't what he did work? Why couldn't he prevent the scene he had seen many times in his nightmares from happening?
He gripped the operating table tightly with his mechanical hand and mumbled your name in a voice only he could hear. He kept saying your name over and over again, as if he was drawing strength from you, as if you could come and save him if he said it enough times.
He closed his eyes tightly and tried to focus on something other than your pained facial expression and bloodied body. If he wanted to survive, if he wanted to rise up and take revenge for what was done to you, he had to find a way to endure the pain he suffered, and what was there in this life that gave him as much strength as you? He tried desperately to remember the moment you first met.
Nearly a month had passed since Qui Gon Jinn's death, and during this time his new master Obi Wan Kenobi had begun training him to become a Jedi. He was grateful for the opportunity given to him and did not want to be ungrateful. However, there were so many moments during his training that he despaired and wanted to return to Tatooine... First of all, Obi Wan Kenobi was not the person he imagined. Yes, it was an undeniable fact that he was a powerful Jedi. He was also smart, very smart. Anakin knew there was a lot of thing he could learn from him. However, it hadn't been long since he had ended his life as a padawan and Obi Wan had obviously not yet fully figured out how to be a good master for his young student. There was no distance or formality between them that there should be between a padawan and a master. They were more like two brothers who fought often. Obi Wan was pushing Anakin very hard to teach him basic things as soon as possible, and Anakin was always managing to drive Obi Wan crazy with his smarty-pants attitude.
He could also sense how the younglings at the temple felt about him as he began to learn how to use the force. Although none of them were directly mistreating him or making a rude remark, Anakin would sometimes catch their gaze. There was displeasure in those looks, obviously his presence disturbed them. A child who appears unexpectedly becomes a padawan without training in the temple and becomes the center of attention of the entire Jedi council... The other younglings must have felt unfair. But one day, he met a young girl who looked at him differently than others: You.
With your bright smile that could light up the whole galaxy and your compassionate gaze, you extended your hand to him and introduced yourself, telling him that he could always come to you if he needed anything. They said you were 9 years old like him, but it was so hard for him to believe it.
You were different from all the other children Anakin had met at the temple, with your confident demeanor and room-filling presence. Your surprisingly mature attitude and wisdom gave those who saw you the impression that you never made mistakes and that you always knew what was right, causing them to respect you.
Moreover, you were beautiful, very beautiful. Even your messy hair waving in the wind, your face dripping with sweat, and your loose-fitting uniform couldn't prevent Anakin from seeing this beauty. When his eyes met your beautiful, understanding eyes, he immediately looked away and wanted to run away. There was no doubt that you were the angel the pilots who came to Tatooine were talking about. However, he could not find the courage in his heart to admit this to himself or to tell you. He felt so small, so helpless in front of the being that he wanted to get away from it as soon as possible and think about what this warm feeling that filled his heart that he had never felt before was.
Yes, he wanted to run away from you when your eyes met. But ironically, this was the first time he didn't want to return to Tatooine to his mother.
For the 3 years after you met, you had no communication other than chance encounters at the temple and furtive glances at each other. Even a life form without eyes could easily understand that you wanted to be closer to each other, but you had neither the time nor the courage to do so. You were very busy with your studies. In the future, you wanted to be a female Jedi as respected as Shaak Ti, or even more so, and you were working very hard to achieve your goal. Anakin, on the other hand, began to go on missions given by the council with Obi Wan, and the difficulty of these missions was increasing. You were so close to Anakin, yet he felt like you were hundreds of light years away from him. You were unreachable to him.
Anakin heard that you were accepted as a padawan by Plo Koon when you turned 13. According to rumors in the temple, the Jedi knight from Dorin noticed your great potential and volunteered to train you. Maybe you weren't as good at using a lightsaber as the other padawans, you might not have been as strong or as durable, but you were smart, very smart. Your dangerously high intelligence level, combined with your composure, easily compensated for your other weaknesses, making you a promising Jedi knight candidate. Even the council had high hopes for you. That's why they didn't interfere with Plo Koon's training style and allowed him to take you out early on missions that could be considered at least partially dangerous.
It was thanks to one of these missions that you came together again. The Senate thought that a small newly established weapons factory on one of the republic's planets was making some irregularities and put pressure on the Jedi to resolve this situation. The council assigned you and Plo Koon to inspect this factory.
It didn't sound that difficult, actually. You would make a short journey to reach the planet in question, tour the factory, talk to the engineers, examine some documents and intimidate the managers.
What could go wrong with such a simple task? To be honest, you weren't known for being lucky, and as usual, trouble had found you.
Anakin and Obi-Wan didn't even need to contact Plo Koon to realize that the Senate was right about the factory producing weapons for Mandolorian terrorists. Less than a day after you arrived on the planet, you reached the council and reported that the factory was completely abandoned, saying that you were trapped and surrounded by thousands of droids and asked for help. The council also assigned Obi Wan and Anakin, who had returned from a mission to a nearby planet, to support Plo Koon and you. Anakin still remembered Mace Windu's explanation word by word when he explained the urgency of your situation to his master Obi-Wan. And how those words filled his little heart with fear.
"You must reach the weapons factory as soon as possible, Master Kenobi." Mace Windu said in a stern tone. "Or it might be too late to save them."
Even if these words had not been spoken, the more serious expression than ever on Mace Windu's face would have been more than enough for even the most primitive creature in the galaxy to understand the situation.
As the spaceship they were on made a sudden return to your planet by order of his master, Anakin was wondering why he was so worried about a girl he had only talked to a few times. While he could keep his cool even during missions where his own life was threatened, why did the idea of you in pain make his heart beat faster and his head spin? He was trying to breathe to calm down, but even his breathing was so irregular that Obi Wan felt the need to turn to him and reassure him that everything was okay. How could Anakin explain to his master that he was afraid for you, not himself? Would he understand if he told him?
While the young padawan was in these thoughts, the ship entered the atmosphere with a sudden jolt and landed near the factory. As the deafening noise of explosions and droid weapons filled his ears, he got off the ship and started running without waiting for his master's command. He could hear Obi-Wan calling to him to stop, but he didn't have the time or patience to wait. This was not a scene they were unfamiliar with anyway. When all this nonsense was over, he would happily hear Obi Wan's scolding and humbly accept his punishment, but right now wasn't the right time to think about that. The only thing that mattered at that moment was saving you, and he was going to do it no matter what it took. Because it was his heart, not his brain, that told him to do this, and Anakin was not mature enough to resist his heart. With a swift move, he pulled out his lightsaber and sliced the first droid he encountered in half.
When he heard the sound of your footsteps mixing with the sounds of the battle droids, he realized how close he was to them, but he didn't even slow down for fear of being late for you. He was destroying all the war machines in front of him, clearing the way and moving towards the direction where he sensed your presence.
When he and his master, who finally managed to catch up with him, arrived at the production facility where you were fighting the droids, he started looking around for you, without even bothering to check how Plo Koon was doing. Plo Koon was one of the most powerful Jedi, someone like him could survive without the help of a padawan, but not you. He could feel with all his being that you needed help, but no matter how much he looked around, he couldn't see you.
While Anakin was looking around the burning production facility to find you, he saw two silhouettes in the smoke. One of these silhouettes, the one leaning on the ground and cowering against a wall, belonged to a young girl. The other was the silhouette of an armed droid, as tall as a human but as skinny as a skeleton. Moreover, this droid's gun was pointed at you and was about to be fired. Anakin knew his feelings were not wrong. You were in a difficult situation and needed his help.
He was sure that he wanted to run towards you, save you by smashing that droid into thousands of pieces, and then kick its ugly metal head and throw it to the farthest corner of the galaxy. But he knew he didn't have time for that. So he did something even he didn't expect and threw his lightsaber towards you, hoping you could catch it in time. He knew that this move was madness. What kind of maniac would give up the only weapon he had among thousands of battle droids and leave himself defenseless? Especially if he doesn't know the other person well?
But Anakin had never regretted what he had done, not even for a moment. He saw you pull the thrown lightsaber with force and catch it, then slice the droid in half before he could fire to you. Yes, you were safe, but that safety was only for a brief moment. He had no time to relax, otherwise he knew you would be open to attacks from other droids. Without wasting any time, he followed the green lightsaber shining among the smoke and reached him. You were finally in front of him.
To be honest, your situation wasn't looking so bright. You were seriously injured and your body was covered in blood. Anakin had knelt down next to you and gently held your face between his fingers, afraid of hurting you even more. He could feel the warm drops of blood running down your face, flowing from his fingers to his wrists, but he didn't care about anything other than your safety at that moment. "Are you okay?" he asked, trying to hide how worried he was. Just by looking into your eyes, he could see how much the conflict you were experiencing had worn you out, but you put on a brave and determined expression and nodded, trying not to let the pain you were feeling reflected in your voice, "I'm fine." you muttered. "I'm fine, but I think my legs are stuck and I can't move them."
"Don't be afraid, I'll find a way to get you out of here."
He could see a shattering mass of metal pinning your legs. He took the lightsaber from your hand, carefully opened it, and held it up to the metal plate. "I'll try not to cut off your legs," he said, trying to smile to calm you down, and then added. "At least one of them."
You must have liked Anakin's little joke, too, because your lips turned slightly to the side despite your helpless situation. "Don't worry." you said, laughing. "They will break off on their own anyway, even if you don't cut them."
After receiving a sarcastic approval from you, he began to cut and separate the metal pieces with great patience. He made every move carefully and attentively, afraid of hurting you. When your legs were finally free, he took a deep breath and looked at your face again.
"It's not safe here. We have to get out of here."
"But my master is still fighting." Even though you tried to object, Anakin did not accept it. "He can take care of himself, and the support sent by the council is on the way."
His tone and expression were so determined that you gave up and surrendered to Anakin. You didn't have the strength to resist even if you wanted to. He wrapped his arms tightly around your body, stood up and started walking towards the factory exit. To be honest, you were a little heavier than you looked, and your blood was staining his clothes, but as long as you could rest your head on his chest and he could feel the warmth of your body, nothing else mattered.
Your next meeting was in the infirmary at the Jedi temple. 3 days had passed after your unfortunate duty at the factory and you had just regained your consciousness. During this time, Anakin began to help Jocasta Nu in the archives, upon his master's orders. It could not be said that he was very happy with his situation, but he still considered himself lucky that the punishment for his disobedience during duty was so small. Besides, even though organizing the archives was a tedious task, it kept his mind busy, and he definitely needed it.
Every moment he wasn't busy with something, he was thinking about you and what happened at the factory that day and trying to make sense of what he was feeling. That strange feeling that he thought he had forgotten years ago was back. Why did his heart beat faster and his face turn red every time he thought of you? Were these normal? His master had told him that a Jedi should not become attached to anything, but he should also be compassionate. Anakin could not understand this contrast. He was also afraid of being attached to you. But this was very illogical. Could one person become so attached to another person in such a short time? All these questions confused little Anakin more than ever. Finally, he realized that he could not bear these questions any longer and decided to visit you in the infirmary at the end of the 3rd day. Besides, he also had something that belonged to you, and he had to return it to you as soon as possible.
When he came to you, he saw that you were much more cheerful than he expected. You still looked very weak and you were obviously going to be in the infirmary for a while longer. Still, without letting this demoralize you, you were patiently waiting for your recovery, and in the meantime, you were trying to pass the time by reading the war history texts you took from the archive.
Still, you smiled so widely when you saw Anakin that he was convinced you were glad to see him, too. Trying to suppress the uncomfortable feeling he felt in his stomach, he put on a confident expression and quickly walked over and sat on your bed.
"You look better." he said with the light of hope appearing in his eyes.
You smiled warmly at him. "Thank you, Anakin." you said. "I feel better too."
After a brief hesitation, he pulled a lightsaber from under his cloak and handed it to you, "I think this is yours." he said. "I found it at the factory."
Just seeing the familiar blue color of the lightsaber brought peace to your soul. You happily took the saber from Anakin's hand and began to examine it. "God, thank you so much Anakin. I thought I had lost it."
"My master always tells me that the lightsaber is a Jedi's life and they must protect it at all costs."
Even though you lost your lightsaber for reasons beyond your control, what Anakin said made you a little embarrassed. "Of course, I'm not trying to justify my irresponsibility, but what happened that day was unexpected. I must have dropped it during that chaos."
"To be honest, I've lost my lightsaber too many times."
The confession of the padawan in front of you made you smile a little. Actually, what you should have done was to politely thank Anakin for saving your life, and when the time comes, pay him back at all costs. However, owing your life to him placed such a heavy burden on your shoulders that you felt crushed under this weight, no matter how humble the attitude of the boy in front of you. Before you even thought, the words were coming out of your mouth. "Master Kenobi says that our lightsaber is our life, right? So, according to the master's logic, you entrusted your life to me in the factory, and you also saved mine by finding my lightsaber."
Anakin looked at you in surprise, not knowing what to say at your words. Yes, your reasoning based on his master's words was correct, however, he did not expect you to approach the subject from this perspective. Fortunately, you continued talking without a long pause, and he was spared the trouble of finding an answer to give you.
"I am grateful to you for saving my life, Anakin, and I swear that one day I will repay you. Please give me your lightsaber until that day, and you can take mine."
"So you want us to surrender our lives to each other?" Anakin asked with mixed emotions. Wouldn't this agreement create a commitment between you? Anakin could not comprehend the depth of this devotion.
You nodded decisively in response. "Yes. So we can remember this promise between us for the rest of our lives. These sabers we exchanged will be a symbol of our friendship and trust in each other, and one day I will repay my debt to you. Until then, I want to remember the promise I made to you every time I look at your saber."
Then you added timidly, "If you want too, of course."
Anakin thought for a few seconds, then without a word, he handed you his lightsaber and accepted this pact that would bind your hearts and bodies together forever. Thus, a very special bond was formed between you that will never be broken again. Who knew that this innocent bond established between two children would one day bring disaster to the galaxy...

Do I Know You? - Darth Vader/Anakin Skywalker x Reader {Part. I}
a/n: an alternate universe/timeline!au fic! this is the first part, the second part is in the works!
summary: Where Darth Vader is sent on a mission and finds himself traveling through another timeline and meets another version of you where you aren't dead. part II: Do I Know You? II
"I am going to have a few words with you once I get back Sheev..." Vader thought to himself. His large frame was trapped in a tiny capsule that was rapidly moving downwards onto the surface of Tatooine.
His master had sent him to retrieve the Death Star plans on a rebel ship when all of sudden, the rebels managed to crowd him into this tiny capsule and drop him out of the ship.
There was a faint beeping heard below him. He looked down at his hand and noticed a device strapped on the back of his hand. Those damn rebels. Vader toyed with the device, hoping to shut off the beeping, but the beeping increased and flashed the words on the device:
Coruscant, 20 BBY
"Huh?" He thought to himself once again, what could this possibly mean? The light above him began flashing red. Out of the small window of the capsule, the dark space soon turned into a blue clouded sky. The Sith Lord let out a sign of frustration, how the hell did I get into this position?
The capsule came to an abrupt stop when it had landed on the ground, sending the Sith Lord face forward into the door. Vader groaned to himself. The door slid open, revealing a dark alleyway, similar to the alleyways in the Underworld in Coruscant.
Vader walked out of the capsule, turning around to admire the machine that the rebels had managed to squeeze him in. Interesting... The Sith Lord thought to himself before making his way towards the dimly lit streets of Coruscant.
The people off the streets eyed the tall, towering figure as Vader strolled along the sidewalks of the Underworld.
"Do you want to buy some deathsticks?" A Rodian man said as he approached the tall dark figure with death sticks in his hands. To which Vader took a step back and eyed the man.
"No..." He let out, debating on whether to take the deathsticks or not. This day was already terrible as is with how everything had gone.
"Are you sure? You'll have a great time-" Vader raise his hand, force choking the reptilian humanoid.
"I would rather not you pest. Now, you will go home and rethink your life."
"I-I will to go home and rethink my life." The man nodded up and down. Vader released his grasp, allowing the Rodian to scramble away from him.
There was whispering and murmurs from other onlookers, witnessing what the Sith Lord just did.
"Did he just use the force?"
"You saw that right?
"Do you think he's one of those Jedi?"
The Sith Lord looked around the people who backed away from him. Pathetic, he thought. He needed to find Palpatine and tell him that mission was a failure, the rebels had gotten away, and he was unable to get the plans. Meaning, that there will be a severe punishment waiting for him once he returns to his Master.
Vader walked into the nearest club and approached the Twi'lek bartender, hoping to find a speeder or station to get him out of here.
"Where is there nearest station? I need to get to the Emperor. 5127th level." Vader said to Twi'lek man who had just gotten done serving a drink to a customer.
"Emperor? Where on Hoth did you come from? Do you mean the Chancellor?" The man questioned, throwing his towel over his shoulder.
Vader sat in brief silence, thinking to himself, Chancellor? He could have sworn Sheev didn't go by that name anymore.
"Y-Yes, the Chancellor...Do you know where I can find him." Vader finally let out, after moments of awkward silence.
"Well, you won't have much of chance finding her. She's either too busy in her office or helping the people clear the debris that was left from the Clone Wars ever since the previous Chancellor was killed."
"She...? How strange." Vader said to himself. "And remind me, what is the name of the Chancellor is again?"
"Kriff dude, did your head get smack with a bunch of Ewoks throwin' rocks at it?" The man questioned, now cleaning cups with his towel.
Vader sat in silence again, staring down at the man. Debating on whether he should have killed his man sooner, or wait until he got a response. Luckily, he chose the latter.
"Chancellor Y/N L/N is her name. She was the former Senator of Naboo before she was elected right after Chancellor Palpatine's death. There's rumors that she had a fling with a Jedi Knight, by the name of Anakin Skywalker-"
"Tell me. Where is she." Vader said, his tone revealing his impatience.
"Woah woah, don't you want me to finish telling-"
"Where is the nearest station. I will find her myself." He stated.
"O-okay fine. The nearest station is quite a distance. But we do have this old speeder at the back of-"
Before the bartender could finish, Vader had already made his way out of the club and around to the back to the speeder. Chancellor Y/N? It couldn't be possible. You were dead, but he needed to see it for himself.
-
"Your Majesty, do you think-"
"Who cares, she has already told you how she felt-"
"Oh I wasn't talking to you-"
The doors of my office slide open, revealing Obi-Wan with a tray that had two cups on it. I smiled at him, to which he returned. But that smile soon turned into concern as he looked over at my two handmaidens who were having a little dispute.
"Are they still fighting about it?" Obi-Wan said, approaching me and handing me a cup of warm tea.
"Yes, yes they are." I responded, sipping and savoring the earthy taste of the tea.
"Chancellor! Chancellor!" A voice from outside my office called. I looked up at Obi-Wan who looked down at me. The doors to my office slid open, revealing Cal?
"Cal? What's the matter?" I said, now standing up from my chair and making my way towards him.
"T-There's. there's someone looking for you. We don't know who o-or what their name is." He breathed out, trying to catch his breath. "I'm just gonna take a seat here." before plopping himself on the loveseat.
"Astra, could you grab Cal a glass of water please?" Both my handmaidens stopped their bickering and turned to look at me.
"Y-yes of course your Majesty." Astra bowed, both handmaidens leaving the three of us in my office. I turned back to Cal with concern.
"Cal, take a moment to catch your breath. Now, what is this you heard of someone needing me?" I asked him, taking a seat next to him on the loveseat, my hand resting on his shoulder.
"Of course Chancellor. There are talks in the Underworld, that there is this dark figure, who I think is a force-user, is looking for you... I don't know if he's from another planet or something, but there's something off about that thing." Cal spoke, still breathless from running to get to my office.
"Thing?" I furrowed my eyebrows at his words. I looked up at Obi-Wan who was standing next to Cal, caressing his beard in thought.
"Well, it could be a droid of some sort. The thing sounds mechanical." Cal continued, gnawing at his lips nervously.
"Interesting Cal, do we perhaps have another other information of the individual?" Obi-Wan inquired.
"N-No Master, but I felt this dark energy from him. Almost as if it was evil, pure evil." Cal responded. He pulled out his holoprojector, showing footage of a tall dark mysterious figure force choking an innocent bystander.
Obi-Wan and I looked at each other before looking back at the hologram.
"He doesn't look like he would be friendly. Perhaps we may need to take action and find what this individual wants to do with you." Obi-Wan said, still stroking his beard. I thought to myself. How strange, what could I have possibly done that I was involved with this individual?
"We may need to tighten up security among the people and the rest of the sovereign powers. I don't want to draw too much attention to this. I already have much going on. Perhaps I'll bring this up to the Jedi council tomorrow morning and see what they think." I said sighing to myself, as I walked over to the large window that overlooked beautiful skies of Coruscant.
Obi-Wan nodded in agreement, Cal sat there looking between us.
-
The skies of Coruscant were pitch black, but littered with stars in the sky. The Sith Lord arrived at the small landing pad with his airspeeder, just outside of a familiar penthouse. The penthouses and apartments in Coruscant were always open air. Since they were high up in the skies, the only way to get in was with an airspeeder or the elevators to the buildings. So it was fairly easy for Vader to walk into your penthouse without needing to break a sweat.
The Sith Lord made his way into the penthouse. The lights of every room were turned off, except for one. Light faintly emitted from a set of closed doors, assuming that was your room, Vader made a beeline towards your bedroom doors.
Even with his ultraviolet and infrared vision, it was still limited to where Vader missed the Jedi that was hidden behind one of the large pillars of the penthouse.
"You're not welcomed here. You are trespassing a politician's home and I advise you to leave this instant." A familiar voice spoke up.
"I will not leave until I see her, the Chancellor." The Sith Lord turned around, but did not see anyone behind him. Vader turned back around only to be met with Obi-Wan with his hand on the hilt of lightsaber.
"M-Master..." Vader let out, only for Obi-Wan to quirk an eyebrow at him.
"Do we know each other?" Obi-Wan responded, his hand still resting upon his saber.
"Master, it's me... Anakin Skywalker." Vader spoke out to his former Master.
"Foolish nonsense, Anakin Skywalker is dead." Obi-Wan stated.
Both the Sith Lord and Master Jedi eyed each other, waiting on who would make the first move. After moments of deafening silence, Vader took off his helmet. Revealing his burnt, scarred face, and yellow Sith eyes. Obi-Wan watch him in disbelief, taking a step back from the Sith.
"Obi? Obi-Wan are you there? Who are you talking to in there?" Your voice was muffled on the other side of your door. Anakin's desperate eyes darted over to Obi-Wan and to your door, hoping he'll say something.
"Y-yes Y/N! No worries, it was just a false alarm! It was just a hawk-bat!" Obi-Wan shouted.
"If you say so Obi. I'm heading to bed now!" You shouted in response. The light emitting from your bedroom doors shut off, leaving the entirety of the penthouse dark and only for the Coruscant moonlight to shine through the large windows.
Obi-Wan shook his head and sighed to himself. "You have some nerve for showing up here. And to say that you are Anakin Skywalker? Ludicrous." He spat at Vader.

spare me this - anakin skywalker
pairing: anakin skywalker + fem!reader
summary: the council assigns you on a deathly solo mission, forbidding anakin to join you.
warnings: angst (i don’t know what is wrong with me!! i am addicted to writing it now), mentions of injury and death, anakin is so sweet and sosososo in love it’s almost pitiful, fluff
a/n: i feel like i put a part of my soul in this. i feel so drained but finishing this feels SO rewarding. another day for firsts! this is my first time writing for anakin, or anything star wars related :) this has been sitting in my drafts for MONTHS. i figured, while i still feel motivated to write, let me finish this!!! hope you all enjoy <3 i loved writing it
“three days.” you repeated faintly.
you disliked how quiet anakin was at times. it often left you more troubled than relaxed.
you frowned when he didn’t look at you from his stubborn stare at the ceiling. sighing softly, you mimicked his eyes and looked upwards, your neck rested against the headboard of the bed.
“we will come back victorious, and we will be right here. together again.”
the night before your mission’s departure, you slept in anakin’s room. it would have been much easier to ignore him, act like he didn’t exist for a while. the two of you were far too dependent on one another. the love sometimes felt overwhelming.
however, anakin’s fear was far too evident. it was strong - too strong to the point where you genuinely believed someone else could detect it. you decided that if you could soothe his worries, he’d be relieved of his thoughts.
but anakin didn’t speak. he refused, and his body simply forbid him from trying. not a touch or word was directed at you. it had almost been an hour of pure silence.
unbeknownst to you, there was a helpless feeling of uncertainty that anakin could clearly sense from you. that was what was driving him crazy.
bloodshed was a promise, you already knew it. your master had spoken grimly about the mission, and it was anakin who realized - much quicker than you - that this battle would not end seamlessly.
there was a large, if not, inevitable chance of you coming back alarmingly injured.
you were calculated, strong, and reliable. it was you who the council had chosen to lead the mission.
they were selfish, anakin believed.
“obi-wan knows this will kill me.”
anakin bleakly spoke, his voice muffled by the blanket he had brought up to his face. you decided against expressing your surprise to the sound of his voice.
while obi-wan had no idea about the true nature of your relationship with anakin, he was aware that you served as each other’s weaknesses. jedi code called for the banishment of any attachments, though obi-wan knew he himself had begun to break them when he started to form a brotherly bond with his once-padawan. he held no room for judgement.
while you hadn’t spent nearly as much time with him as anakin had, you felt very fond of him. there was a certain soothing atmosphere that only seemed to arrive in his presence.
secretly, obi-wan had pulled you aside mere hours after your mission was announced. his voice was low as he spoke, and he had gently held your arm the entire time.
“you come back within your scheduled arrival, and everything will be fine. i cannot promise you we will be at ease if you take longer.”
and, of course, through unknowing ears this was a simple comment - a statement of encouragement, really. but it was a completely different story when you could see the true intentions in his words.
anakin would not be at ease, is what he had wanted to say.
and obi-wan was right. from the moment you explained your mission to anakin, he had gone silent. you had been in your room, slowly walking in circles as you counted the tasks you were required to fulfill on your journey.
you hadn’t noticed how awfully pale your jedi had become.
now in present, you realized he had never left his stage of shock.
anakin hated this. he hated how guilty he felt for the resentment he had towards your capabilities. you had impressed the council too much, and it had put you in a dangerous position. he hated how careless you tried to sound, and he hated how you only gave the reply of “yes, master” when being told the instructions of your suicide mission. most importantly, he hated how he was forbidden to join you.
“how do i live? how do i function when you could be dead at any moment?”
you froze, eyes widening.
anakin’s words were cold, and you fought the urge to feed into his frighteningly grim thoughts.
pursing your lips briefly, you forced a smile, brushing back his hair from his forehead. anakin was laying on his back, eyes still narrow and focused upwards. you tried to keep the mood light, attempting to add a little amusement to calm the tense atmosphere his question had made.
“we’re both aware i’m capable enough to handle myself. i used to beat you during training, and i saved you from-“
your playful smile faded, and you gave up talking once you realized he had started to look up at you.
anakin knew you were strong. he didn’t need to hear your reassurance, especially when he knew even you were undoubtedly terrified.
for a while, he just stared at you. it wasn’t intimidating - he could never direct an emotion like that at you - but you felt exposed, almost as if you should shield your face.
anakin felt troubled, trying to piece together all his discomforting emotions clearly. to have you so close seemed to be a punishment. you shouldn’t be here. he shouldn’t be seeing the worry in your eyes, or watching the slight furrow of your brows. although, there was something so beautiful about your concern. he wasn’t made to feel these kinds of emotions, especially ones that one mere person could provide.
for a moment, he wished he didn’t know you. selfishly, he knew that would relieve him of the pain.
“anakin,”
his name that only ever sounded right when you said it.
“what’s the matter, ani?”
there were no protests made when you moved closer to him. the security and serenity he felt with your arms around him made it feel impossible to refuse.
anakin trusted you with his life. he’d give you his life in a heartbeat. he’d do anything for you. and yet - why couldn’t you help him believe you would be okay on this mission? it was cruel, picking on his one and only weakness. his heart, which you held so effortlessly. his mind consisted of you, you, you.
with a shaky sigh, he spoke.
“you’re scaring me.” he quietly admitted.
his eyes were glossy, nearing a depressive red. his stare was piercing. you weren’t sure you wanted his attention anymore.
confused, though mostly alarmed, you continued to look back at him. scaring him?
“you think you’re going to die, don’t you?”
your eyes widened, and suddenly you felt very vulnerable being in front of him.
“anakin - what?” you stumbled out, shaking your head in surprise. he couldn’t be serious. you attempted to talk, reassure him that you would be fine, but his gaze was unfocused. he didn’t want to listen to your futile words. anakin knew you better than anyone else.
“please, do not lie to me.” he whispered, and in that particular moment, you had never seen him so small. “spare me that.”
anakin skywalker, the reckless jedi who consistently charmed his way through trouble. someone who was so spontaneous, yet brilliant.
love kept him going. it wasn’t unrequited. he knew that more than anything. love got him up in the morning. love was adrenaline. love was everything and so much more.
he couldn’t bare losing it.
“i-“ you shook your head again, pausing briefly to lay beside him. a hand was placed on his cheek, and you caressed his face gently.
anakin’s eyes closed, and once more he felt a wave of anger pass through him. he hated the council, he hated the jedi. he hated everything to do with this. they were trying to take you from him. your sweet touches, your soft voice, your caring nature. he felt so bitter it hurt.
you pursed your lips, letting a sigh escape you.
“i will tell you this.“ you whispered, cupping a hand around his soft face. “i am scared. i act like i am not because that is what i must do.”
for the past couple of hours, anakin had assumed that hearing you admit your fear out loud would put his mind at ease. maybe, if you admitted you weren’t invincible, he could convince you to take extra care of yourself.
but your words had the opposite effect on him.
you were scared. and he wouldn’t be there to help.
“i cannot promise you i’ll be unscathed, anakin, but i can promise that i will come back to you.”
it took everything in you to not break in front of him.
you forbid him from continuing the conversation further after that.
when the morning you had dreaded arrived, you silently awaited for a signal on your commlink to commence your departure.
you had left anakin, quietly pleading for him to stay optimistic during your absence. he had helped you get dressed. his touch was like a feather, gently escorting you to a hell you could only hope would be generous to you.
weapons were hidden under your robes, as usual. two lightsabers, because you had learned from anakin years ago that an extra could never hurt.
you couldn’t help but wonder if he felt possibly felt guilty.
anakin had trained you, hoping that an increase in your skill would payoff on the battlefield to solely keep you safer when he wasn’t around.
but you had surpassed his expectations. and now, you were in this position.
it had been an honor to be praised so highly. though, you quickly found that, in reality, it was not something to completely look forward to. anakin’s worry being the main reason.
when your commlink finally sounds off, you waste no time in leaving.
three days, you had claimed to anakin.
when you finally return, a week had gone by.
and just like you had repeated to anakin so many times before - you were victorious.
though, not unscathed.
“medical-“ you breathed heavily, your hand glued to your side as you stepped out of your starfighter, your heart pounding in upmost fear as you realized your vision had begun to blur.
you couldn’t tell who grabbed you first. it wasn’t anakin, you knew that by muffled noise of calm reassurance. if anakin were here, he would have the entire building burned to the ground in seconds. if it weren’t for the excruciating pain you felt everywhere, you could have chuckled at the thought.
“requesting medical attention - yes, this is urgent.”
blinking as quickly as you could, which looked evidently labored, you watched as obi-wan spoke through his commlink.
yours had broken days ago, leaving you stranded with no communication. retreating was never an option in your mind, and you stupidly had fought until your mission had succeeded.
the consequences of your actions truly haunted you as you were lifted on to a table, the strong scent of medication telling you that, yes, your wound was as bad as it felt, if not worse.
and finally, the mask put over your mouth lulled you to a more painless state of sleep.
upon the first few seconds of opening your eyes, you tried to immediately close them again.
of course, anakin was right next to you.
you heard him jolt in his seat, repeatedly calling your name as if you would die if he stopped. his voice sounded hoarse. gently, you reached your arms out, silently begging for him to touch you. you needed his embrace. you can not have gone through all this effort for nothing. he was why you had tried so hard to survive. without a word, anakin complied to your silent request. his hands cupped your face, while yours did the same to him.
his chest was shaking with uneven breaths.
“i made it back - just like i said, right?” you spoke quietly, smiling through a wince. joking was never the way to handle serious situations with anakin, but fuck, you really couldn’t handle how broken he looked.
he didn’t smile. he hadn’t taken your eyes off of you, almost as if you would disappear the second he looked away.
“don’t ever do this to me again.”
you quickly stopped speaking at his tone. unstable and hurt. you can’t promise that to anakin. it would be selfish. you help people - your mission had hopefully saved thousands. what is one life to lose if it can save so many more? you’re skilled, why not use your potential for something extraordinary?
“leave the order with me.”
your eyes widen, bigger than you mean them to.
“i-i can’t do that.” you reply immediately, shaking your head in his gentle grasp. leaving the order was nearly unspoken of - all of these years training, dedicating your life - what would it have been for? you can’t leave. people need you - the galaxy needs you.
you would have anakin, but could you live with yourself? all these years, you’ve been taught to be selfless, so why is anakin proposing such an idea?
you’re sure he can see the conflict on your face.
“you almost died.”
his bluntness forces to you remember the stinging pain on your side. you shake your head.
“that’s a part of the job.” you speak firmly. “i would be injured a hundred times over if it meant someone won’t be.”
anakin immediately lets go of your face.
“listen to me,”
it’s nearly a full-body sob, and you watch as he stands straighter, attempting to compose himself.
you feel your heart drop to your stomach.
“you’re hurting me - i don’t care if i’m being selfish! i love you. i love you more than anything, and i know i cannot live without you.”
anakin skywalker’s love for you was almost pitiful. he himself nearly couldn’t stand it. how can one person cause so much heartache? why is it possible to care for someone as much as he does for you? his outburst was childish, and he’s aware. but he needs you to see him, so raw, so authentically. maybe if you could see the pain he was in, you would spare him more easily.
“anakin…” you whispered, so quietly you almost doubted he heard you.
the reality was, you tended to push anakin away. you were hesitant to love him. you felt greedy whenever you allowed yourself to love him so deeply. you were meant to serve others, not have feelings of your own. anakin was your weakness, and that scared you more than anything. if you were going to be powerful enough to save millions, it would be foolish to have a flaw.
but, clearly, anakin didn’t care about weaknesses. he had you, and loved you with open arms, and despite this, he preformed better than you in nearly everything. how does he manage?
“i love you too much.” his voice was defeated, and the anger he had previously held dissipated. “obi-wan saw me sulk after the three days. he stopped me from seeing you when you arrived.”
you nodded slowly. it made sense, you couldn’t imagine the scene that would have occurred if it had been anakin carrying your half-conscious body. anakin skywalker reacted according to his feelings. he was spontaneous.
you sighed quietly.
“i would never leave the order, anakin. i wouldn’t be able to live with myself.” you spoke, and winced as you visibly saw him tense.
you had to be honest with him.
reaching a hand out, you grabbed his, gently interlocking your fingers.
“but, i can promise you that i will never take a mission like that. it was reckless, i know. i’m so sorry.”
he didn’t speak, taking a seat on your bed.
he was unsatisfied, you knew that.
but you couldn’t change the entire trajectory of your life for him just because he worries you’ll get hurt. it would be wrong, and you know, though he won’t say it out loud, anakin agrees with you.
he allows himself to give into desires. it’s not because he feels he’s “deserving” of them, but because it’s something that comes so natural to him. so why must it be wrong to love you?
anakin is confident with your abilities. he knows how strong you are. but it’s second-nature for him to worry. you’re something so precious to him in this world of despair.
so he’ll stay silent and let you do whatever you please. he cannot hold you back, and he’s now painfully aware of it. but, he can help you.
more trainings, better advice, and more time.
you have each other, and he is satisfied with that forever.

From “they stand alone” to Padmé thinking about how “very alone” Obi-Wan looks as Anakin is lost. Let me die.

I'm never getting over how sick he looks
It's a very dull looking scene, almost grayscale. That choice shows you just how sickening this mission is to Obi-Wan.
Obi-Wan is hunched over, head between his knees. He looks physically sick. Everyone looks to him, he can say 'no,' but how could he possibly deny them? His life is the Jedi, and in the pursuit of peace he's asked to do something he cannot but a Jedi Master can, without question, Obi-Wan Kenobi can and he must.
The second shot, that's the face of resignation. He can't even speak, you can see he almost opens his mouth but all he can do is nod. This is where we see the line of duty and the individual. When challenged, Obi-Wan chooses the light, at the expense of himself, at the expense of those he loves.
He knows Anakin will never forgive because when challenged, Anakin doesn't choose the light, he chooses who he loves. And Obi-Wan cannot tell Anakin that choosing those you love isn't the correct choice.
This is the hero sacrificing you to save the world, this is Obi-Wan sacrificing himself, sacrificing Anakin for the greater good. But what's so good about letting your best friend think you've slipped away into death, mere feet from his grasp? Where's the good in watching someone you love die?
Obi-Wan remembers watching Qui-Gon's last breath leave his body, he never recovered. Where's the good in knowing all the pain your about to put your best friend through? The good in always seeing your ghost?

"...but it sounds like it's crying."
Based on this and it's ANGSTY y'all
Context: The Force grants Obi-Wan his wish to undo everything that happened to the galaxy and make Anakin happy, but the price is heavy. Obi-Wan chooses to pay.
In a galaxy far, far away, Anakin Skywalker is found and trained by Qui-gon Jinn. He doesn't fall to the Dark side, he marries his angel, and there is peace in their time. But what nobody knows is that all throughout Anakin's life, he hears gentle and loving whispers in the wind, guiding him and showing him the Light. There is always a protective touch on his back, and glimpses of sad but proud eyes in his periphery. Sometimes, he wakes from his dreams with tears in his eyes, a terrible melancholy that is not his own settling in his chest.
He wishes he knows the name of the being in the Force, but nobody can give him an answer. How can they, when the name Obi-Wan Kenobi doesn't exist?

you remembered that exact day your life changed for the worst. the day the jedi order fell, the day order 66 was executed, the day you lost your family, the day you lost your master. you were a mere padawan, still clinging to anakins robes on those tough missions. the same padawan who would run to anakins room in the middle of the night after a nightmare. the same padawan who trailed behind padme as if she was your mother and you were her child. the same padawan who swore to keep your mouth shut when anakin told you he and padme were married and expecting. the same padawan who was innocent and whose only worry was what was for lunch.
now, you stood in front of the person responsible for your pain. the person who you had loved all those years ago, and the person who had took you as their padawan even when they needed not. only, he wasn’t the same. the man standing in front of you wasn’t your master, wasn’t anakin. he was a monster all dressed in black. his red saber that was once blue now hissed menacingly as it awaited by his side. you couldn’t see his eyes, but you imagined they were yellow and cruel. no, the man in front of you wasn’t your master. he was a sith lord.
“please,” you whimpered, salty tears staining your face mixing with the grime. you didn’t know what you were begging him for. whether it was begging for your life or begging him to come back to you. “master.”
“your master died a long time ago. he died by my hands, as will you.” his voice was no longer the voice you knew. anakins voice was soft yet serious, a comforting noise in a world of pain. now his voice was distorted. there was malice and hate. only a further reminder that the man in front of you was no longer a friendly voice. the friendly voice that would hum you to sleep.
behind you your broken com chirped back to life. you could make out a faint trace of obi-wan asking where you are, yet you made no effort to answer him. vaders head turned slightly as if he was waiting for you to do something.
it was all too much. your life held no meaning now. your master — the person whom you loved and looked up to more than anyone else — would be the person to end your life. it was at that point you made your decision. extinguishing your blade, you threw it at his feet.
“im glad it will be you, then.”
obi-wan would never find your body.
