(if I may) @akallabeth-joie also is very kind and runs an excellent blog featuring in-depth Les Mis timelines and fun analyses!
I noticed a bunch of new people in the Les Mis tag because of @lesmisletters, so I thought I’d share my Les Mis Blog recommendation list! If you’re looking for Les Mis blogs to follow, here are some people I recommend checking out! : D
Because Les Mis Letters is a readalong of the Brick I’m going to keep my recommendations to “currently active Les Mis blogs who focus on posting primarily canon era Brick-related things, are participating in the readalong in Some way, and post a lot of meta or academic analysis or information about historical context/political context/artistic movements relevant to Les Mis.” if I were to include every Les mis blog I enjoy this post would be 200 miles long XD.
1. @pilferingapples is basically the pillar of the Les Mis fandom on tumblr! They’ve been here for a decade and have an extremely organized blog that basically feels like an archive of the entire fandom- including everything from meta on all the different characters, information about lesser known adaptations like the anime Shoujo Cosette, and discussions about the historical context around the novel/French Romanticism/Victor Hugo’s life. I definitely recommend looking through the tags in their pinned post ajdjdjd. They are also just Very Nice.
2. @everyonewasabird is a Brick-Club member who has already done exhaustive chapter by chapter analyses of the entire book, and writes amazing intensely researched fanfiction. They are also very nice! (Just assume everyone on this list is nice)
3. @fremedon also has tons of exhaustive analysis/meta, and also writes great funny intensely researched fanfic that captures Hugo’s writing voice extremely well.
4. @bobcatmoran posts a lot of great things, but i especially love their recent posts about the Arai Manga and its translations!
5. @vapaus-ystavyys-tasaarvo has been posting tons of great historical context/footnotes lately—- and they’re also the number one source of Les-Mis-related maps!! So many high quality maps
6. @psalm22-6 posts translations of old 19th century reviews of Les Mis, as well as vintage advertisements and other weird ephemera. It’s very fun and often deeply cursed stuff.
7. @thevagueambition also does a lot of historical research (especially into things like queer history) and writes really great intensely researched Grantaire fic!
8. @persefoneshalott does a lot of great translations of Spanish adaptations of Les Mis, and has recently been posting about what things were removed in censored editions of the novel.
9. @alicedrawslesmis is a great Les Mis art blog that also dives into jokes/analysis too!
10. @shitpostingfromthebarricade posts a lot of brick-focused stuff, and does a lot of clever clever and thoughtful modernizations (ex. Retelling an entire chapter with nearly the exact wording Hugo uses, but changing the setting/historical references to modern day ones)
11. @ueinra posts illustrations from old editions of Les Mis across the world and screenshots of/ information about obscure adaptations. :3
I might add more later because I know I’m missing people, but these are just the first currently active brick-focused somewhat research-heavy blogs that came to my head! :D

Note
after watching your most recent post (which I love by the way you are SO talented!!)
I’ve been sucked into a hypothetical South Park musical au where they’re all apart of a musical they’re performing at school
I was wondering if you have any headcanons on who would go into each department (actors, dancers, backstage, costume, art/prop and backdrop making, etc.)
BRO the way I’ve been unconsciously waiting for this! I’m a film actor, majored in filmmaking and photography in college, deadass went to school to be a cam op before turning to acting. But in high school I WAS a theatre kid. And yes I have so hcs on that.
So yes what immediately comes to mind are both Bellwether’s “There’s a Reason Intimacy Is In A Fight Call” and “Acting On Impulse”. I ADORE Kenny as the set designer and Wendy as stage manager. Film wise I see Wendy as a 1st AD, easy. She IS the head bitch in charge and I have so much respect for the AD’s I’ve worked for. That is NOT an easy job.
Yeah a lot of the influence here is coming from those fics, but theatre wise i definitely see Bebe on costumes/props. Wendy as stage manager, Cartman as FOH and venue manager, Kenny as set designer and builder, Stan helping with that but also our leading man. Kyle either acting or handling lighting design. Butters is the choreographer. Craig I’d like to see directing, Tweek on sound design. Now granted, it’s been probably 7 years since I’ve done a stage production. I did not do theatre in college, and I do admit to having a good deal of trauma from high school theatre. In fact, I HATED musicals for a long time after that. Hadestown and The Lightning Thief were the musicals that got me to love them again. What can I say, I’m a hoe for Greek Mythology.
So yeah Hadestown is my favorite musical no question. Despite the fact that I’m a 25 year old woman my ULTIMATE goal roles are Mr Hermes, Hades, and Orpheus. Les Mis is another fave and I would HAPPILY play Javert. Phantom Of The Opera, give me Phantom, or Raul, no question there. I’m not a soprano, although I would DIE to wear Christine’s costumes. And I’ll be so fr, I used to be a much better singer in general. Depression, EDs, smoking, kinda killed that. But I’m singing again. I’d LOVE to work on a movie musical. At this moment my job is recovering from anorexia, and I’ve been focused on that for the past two months or so, but once I’m more steady, I’m SO going back to auditioning, because dude I fucking LOVE acting. I love telling people’s stories. I love telling stories in general and that’s why I write.
Thank you, SO MUCH for this ask

Last night I got high and wrote a program to find all of the unused elemental symbols. It turns out there’s 585 of them and it’s much less interesting the next day.
One interesting finding: I couldn’t be bothered to generate all possible one and two letter strings, so I asked ChatGPT to write me code that would do all that for me. It worked surprisingly well!

The pages in this category are redirects from names that are unsuitable for inclusion in a printed version of Wikipedia. To add a redirect to this category, place {{Rcat shell|{{R unprintworthy}}}} on the second new line (skip a line) after #REDIRECT [[Target page name]]. For more information follow the links. Never substitute redirect template(s), nor place them on soft redirects.
See also the complete list of redirect templates and the redirect style guide.
This is a maintenance category, used for maintenance of the Wikipedia project. It is not part of the encyclopedia and contains non-article pages, or groups articles by status rather than subject. Do not include this category in content categories.
This is a tracking category. It builds and maintains a list of pages primarily for the sake of the list itself. They are not part of the encyclopedia's categorization scheme.
This category is hidden on its member pages—unless the corresponding user preference (appearance → show hidden categories) is set.
These categories can be used to track, build and organize lists of pages needing "attention en masse" (for example, pages using deprecated syntax), or that may need to be edited at someone's earliest convenience.
These categories also serve to aggregate members of several lists or sub-categories into a larger, more efficient list (discriminated by classifications).
"Unprintworthy" redirects are redirect pages on Wikipedia that aid online navigation, but would have little or no value as pointers to target articles in a hard-copy book. The name of a redirect may be unprintworthy for a number of reasons, including being nearly identical to the name of the target page, containing typographical errors, or not being encyclopaedic. Redirects are not unprintworthy just because the name may be offensive to some, unless the name is also not encyclopaedic.

what i personally think les mis characters would listen to on the metro in their earbuds
cosette: simon and garfunkel. she tries not to think about their fall-out and fails. then she feels sad
javert: no music. just news podcasts
valjean: he’s listening to an audiobook. he wants to get through this chapter so he can talk to cosette about it later
bahorel: nonironically listens to 2010s emo/punk music like Green Day, Panic!, MCR, and FOB because he’s reliving his glory days
feuilly: nonironically listens to death metal because it’s like white noise to him. he tries really hard to put his other friends onto it but they always just back away slowly
jehan: they’re listening to pure heroine wishing lorde would put out more music (today is their lucky day!)
combeferre: r&b is his focus music and puts him in the relaxed mindset to deal with everyone else for the day
courfeyrac: blasting trap music that makes him subconsciously bounce on his heels to the beat as he’s holding onto the railing

Yessss!, Another TF blog who does this kind of content and IS active! Like, almost all blogs that I follow are old and don't do content anymore. So you are indeed a life-saver
Now: most users (including myself) do have the hc that Primes love anything baby related because of the matrix, and they end up having really strong inclinations to the related kinks. Whatever they like it or not
Soo, could you do some breeding/pregnancy kink hc or drabble with Op and his female S/O? Like, not only he really gets off to the idea of claiming his mate in such way, but also to the mental image of them raising many adorable sparklings together (not that she would oppose such idea ;) ) . Screw the war, what war?
If this is too specific, or it makes you uncomfortable, feel free to ignore the request. Thank you!
Tumblr media
Hello Anon, I understand you, I made this blog because most of them are already dead, or they don't have content, that is the purpose of the blog to revive more TFP content, and don't worry, the more specific it is, the easier it is for me LOVIU
Optimus headcanons pregnancy/breeding ☆ Primes have a strong parental sense
☆ He thinks that the fact of having a baby or a child is too compromising, not only because of the responsibility of a life but also because this will unite them more and create a bond that will keep him with him (or so according to his culture) although he understands that this is not good since it sounds like someone controlling
☆ I think….. Having babies or a life in your care sounds so beautiful optimus would be 24/7 at your service understands that pregnancy is extremely fragile and anything could happen
☆ He would send you for check-ups all the time he wants to make sure you and the baby are not harmed or in danger
☆ as a father he is very protective, come on it sounds bad but in reality he understands the bot has been through a lot and knows that the world is full of imminent dangers especially due to war
☆ At first he doubts a lot, the war is still present and he knows that bringing a life to the world with suffering is not good but he is comforted by the idea that it will be a life that may help them save their species in the future
☆ he will always have the best advice for his offspring and will try to teach him how to get out of conflicts

For English readers:
Apparently, Op is worried because They have started simping for Prosciutto really hard and this means they're betraying their feminist roots. Tbh, same Op. same.
I mean, it's impossible not to simp for this man without loosing some dignity.

Allora, let’s go with it!
E, ancora meglio, metterlo effettivamente in riga
Come in quel momento
“Tanto è inutile che ce provi : no è, e no rimane” gli rimarca, perentorio
“Stronzo” borbotta a mezza voce
Ermal quasi quasi vorrebbe sorpassarli
Andare dritto in camera
“No” dicono all’unisono, e poi si guardano
Ferito nell'orgoglio proprio, poverino

i fucking love this post and i'd like to add on if that's okay, because i completely agree with you that with ferre as the token indian character it's very easy to play into stereotypes.
i think a key thing for writing indian characters is to specify where they're from. every state and region is like its own country, not everyone speaks hindi, some people can't understand hindi! south indian and north indian culture and food also completely varies.
and now, im sorry for hijacking this post, but i want to share some hcs for les mis characters that i read/could possibly read as desi and how their culture plays into their role in les amis.
(all the characters im going to describe are in my mind south indian and from andra pradesh, kerala, tamil nadu, or somewhere in that area)
combeferre: yes, the stereotypical, is this slightly hypocritical? maybe. but hear me out. like op said, he would be well aware of how fucked india currently is-- probably the most out of anyone there. he knows the effects of colonialism on the caste system and culture and would speak out against hindu nationalism and people in power like modi, and i personally feel that he would be hindu because being a scientist doesn't mean you're atheist. i'd honestly go so far to say that he would speak out on the way that a lot of atheists use what is essentially White Christian Savior rhetoric only... they're not Christian. give me combeferre who has an amar chithra katha comic collection because he's a nerd and he loves them.
courf: Give. Me. First. Gen. Indian. Courf. Who defies gender norms and wears saris and salwars. he knows how to do mehendi and wears it all the time. he's not religious but he's very cultural and throws a party for diwali and navaratri every year. give me courf who has struggled to balance western culture and culture from home. courf who can't speak his native language and has never felt indian enough. courf who mispronounces his given name as a reflex to make it easier for teachers and potential employers. courf who knows the dances and tunes to bollywood hits, who also criticizes bollywood for its portrayal of women and its perpetration of misogyny and colorism.
eponine: give me eponine who has so much baggage from her culture. who has religious trauma and takes years to even celebrate holidays because of the memories that come with them. who still keeps the fun traditions alive for her siblings (buying white clothes every year for holi, making bhel puri and chaat for zelma when she's having a bad day, buying tinkle comics for gav because he loves them). who knows her mother tongue because she remembers every word screamed at her and the slaps they came with. who has generational trauma and is torn between feeling like the family let-down and knowing her parents were shitty shitty people. who watches crappy bollywood movies with courf on the couch and complains the whole time about how cliche it is but still cries sometimes.
anyway i am so sorry for hijacking this post, i just have... a lot of thoughts sa;ldkafl;f
Okay, I've been mulling over this thought for some time.
Look, I really like it when the Les Mis fandom shows a multiracial Les Amis L'ABC. Many of the Amis are BIPoC in my head. But, sometimes I can make out when fanfiction writers do not have enough knowledge about the race they try to represent, and then I really wish that there was atleast more research going in to actually flesh out these ethnicities, than making them tokenish stuff. This post is just a little encouragement to the fandom at large to just pay a little more attention to the deets? Ask your BIPoC friends more?
I would not presume to know about other races and ethnicities, but I was lowkey amused by depictions of Indians in the Amis. Funnily, it is almost always Combeferre who is Indian, and I can't help but think that it feeds into the stereotype of the mild-mannered, nerdy, overachieving Indian student/doctor etc. I would really love to see Indian Courfeyrac, Enjolras, Jehan, or Cosette for example? I've seen people in my country IRL who are VERY like them in headcanons, but somehow they are never Indianised.
Not only that, it is funny that almost every "Indian" Ferre is vaguely North Indian, surrounded only by kheer, tikka masala, Diwali and Holi, without any exploration of numerous other Indian identities (there are so many cultures and languages, right? I don't speak Hindi, nor do I celebrate Diwali and Holi as an Indian, for example). This isn't to hate on North Indians, it's more to wish for other explorations. Also, just tikka masala and Diwali doesn't complete North Indian culture. Someone like Ferre, who is obviously woke, would never not interrogate the issues in his own culture and bring them to the Amis' attention. But I'm yet to see Indian Ferre talking about caste, colourism and nationalism, while talking about racism, sexism and queerphobia. The only time when that culture is actually questioned is when the fear of queerphobia comes up, but not all Indian families are queerphobic (case in point, my own family) and queerphobia isn't the end-all of all Indian family issues.
It made me a little amused when I did find a Bengali Ferre once, who the writer termed "Bengalese" (not really a term?) and whose family was shown as vegan and making eggplant biryani. Tbh, the to-go meat substitute for Bengali food is jackfruit, and eggplant doesn't really work with Bengali Biryani (it is there in other variants, maybe. Enlighten me?). Also Bengalis are usually not vegan. Veganism in India has a whole gamut of socio-political-regional implications, because of its historical association with the oppressive elites of the caste system and Aryan imperialism, and cannot always be read in the same way as the veganism of the West. But since I do know some Bengali vegans, for their sake I can say that Bengalis have a vibrant vegan food culture which does not necessarily use the same meat substitutes as the West.
But maybe this is overdoing it, so I'm keeping it as a tiny example. I'm sure other South Asian, East Asian, Black and Indigenous readers of the Les Mis fandom would have similar complaints about the characterisation of Joly, Bahorel, Eponine or R.

modern era enjolras hcs
-he is so tall but he also has the worst posture ever. it drives courfeyrac nuts and when he convinces him to go to a chiropractor, he ends up getting a chiropractic spinal adjustment and the sounds are so bad. the cracks are insane
-enjolras never makes up his bed too. his day is so busy and long that he can't find the time to just smooth out his sheets. it isn't like he purposely does it, it just slips his mind. he wakes up, climbs out of his duvet cocoon, and goes on about his day. he only remembers to wash his sheets when combeferre sends him subliminal messages pertaining to the subject
-his apartment is a mess but in a very homey way. he has very full bookshelves and lots of whiteboards and notes all around his living space. in his office area, he has a bunch of newspaper clippings of things he finds very important taped to his wall and it's really cool (courfeyrac has had a photoshoot in front of it before)
-oh my god.... enjolras is so lactose intolerant. that doesn't stop him and it should. he loves milk in his cereal and ice cream and cheese and oh my god. he spends so much of his time in pain because he refuses to acknowledge the red flags his body desperately waves at him
-he's also really good at remembering names and birthdays. you could mention your birthday in passing by to him and it isn't like he purposely catalogs it somewhere in his brain, but he remembers it. enjolras's brain is like microsoft excel. it's just a big spread sheet that tucks away info for him that does nothing to help him in life but at least he's never ever forgotten to wish someone a happy birthday
-sweet tooth. enj has such a sweet tooth. he drinks his coffee with more creamer and sugar than actual coffee. he always picks up a pastry on the way to work. whenever somebody does him a favour, they'll find a danish on their desk the next day
-idk how many times i have to say it but he's such a lotr nerd. he's seen the movies a trillion times and he's read and annotated all of the books and when he gets upset, he'll pull on the hood of his hoodie and tie it so that only his face shows and then he lays under a pile of blankets and rewatches the movies until he feels better
-enjolras also needs glasses really badly. he's spent so much of his adult life in front of a laptop in order to get work done and his job uses a lot of his time for computers and it has destroyed his poor eyeballs. whenever he reads anything it's with a squint and it drives everybody insane when he insists that he doesn't need to get glasses
-he was also really popular in high school and uni but was completely unaware. everybody liked him and thought he was so smart and handsome and charming and enjolras just didn't realize. a lot of people threw themselves at his feet to help him with little things and he just thought everyone around him was super nice; he didn't know that this niceness only extended towards him
-he's gets really bad road rage whenever he plays mario kart with friends. he'll start the race fine and calm and then ahhHHHHHHHHHHH FUCKING RED SHELL-
-busiest schedule out of all of his friends. he is working so much. and then weekends- he likes to volunteer for public service. enjolras has no free time. it's rare that people can get him to go out
-enjolras doesn't drink alcohol at all. he doesn't mind smoking weed with courfeyrac because he feels more in control but he hates getting drunk. he still appreciates the company of his friends, though, so if he DOES have free time and his friends want to go out to a bar, he just gets a water or a soda
-he's such a sweetie when he's high. the nicest lil guy. he'll be very physically affectionate with whoever he's with and there's no more of his high-strung nature. oh he's so sweet.
-im still pushing the big forehead enjolras movement. he has a big ol' shiny forehead but his hair covers it. purposely. don't bring it up, he doesn't feel like talking about it

les mis tween era hcs
-combeferre rockets up skyward, like oh my god this kid grows so fast in his tweens. and has the knobbiest of knees. this is also around when his eyes go to shit, so he has to get a pair of really thick and nerdy glasses. he's very insecure and tries going without them, but he is literally borderline blind and eventually gives up due to the blurriness and the migraines
-courfeyrac is the kid that wears all neon. he's also 100% class clown type because he really wants attention from multiple sources at once. this often gets him kicked to the hallway, but he's surprisingly really smart and gets very high grades despite all this
-enjolras is still an average height (but he grows taller than combeferre during the first two years of high school- his bones ache, dude) but has super crooked teeth and gets braces put on for the first time when he's 12. he doesn't speak for a week straight because he's not adjusted to them yet and has a lisp. he learns to deal with it, but the lisp is definitely there until he's 15. he's also got the worst case of puberty explosiveness ever- you piss him off and he turns into mount vesuvius
-bossuet's alopecia actually triggers when he turns 13. it's a huge blow to his self-esteem, but grantaire (who he's known since forever) shaves his head in solidarity and it really, really helps him pick back up. he also accidentally sets off a fire alarm somehow every single year- bossuet ends up in the principal's office very, very frequently despite being a very sweet kid
-joly is an anime kid. he's going around asking people if they've ever seen cowboy bebop and everybody else is like "dude what are you even saying". he's the shortest kid in his grade and kids make fun of him often for his clubbed foot, but joly doesn't let it hurt him. he keeps to himself and hums as he reads manga during lunch
-marius is a dork. he's got the knobby knees, the big ears, he is the goofiest kid you've ever seen. he has really poor social skills and joins student gov't, but there's this terrifying blonde kid who yells at him the first day and marius quits out of fear to avoid him for the rest of his life. he's also such a teacher pet and the "you forgot to give out the homework :(" student
-feuilly moves around a lot between foster homes and he's very angsty as a kid because he feels really alone. he gets really bad grades and winds up in the counselor's office because he won't explain himself. like marius, he's got big ol' ears and his face is splattered in hundreds of freckles. he wishes he has more friends and is going through a super mario 64 speedrunning phase. after school, he plays games instead of hanging out with people his age
-jehan and eponine are in a creative writing club. she likes to write happy endings to her stories, and jehan writes the EDGIEST poetry you have EVER heard. each one is objectively terrible and they believe they are the next sylvia plath.
-musichetta is always in the library. she hits her growth spurt early, like combeferre, and towers over the girls and boys in her class. she always feels a bit out of place and chooses rather to spend her lunch period with the librarians. they think she's funny for a kid and even let her file away books and keep some of the copies they plan to throw out (she's slowly collecting all of their books in the animorphs series)
-bahorel ends up in the principal's office a lot too for fights. he's always ending up in them, and when he's 12 somebody knocks out his two front teeth. to this day, his front biters are prosthetics (he likes to prank people with them in his twenties, so it's both a blessing and a curse). he's also on the junior wrestling team! bahorel grows more outward than he does upward and he puts it to good use, if you asked him. he's on the brink of his emo/punk phase, and he's listening to a CD of black sabbath every night because he thinks he's so cool
-grantaire is so edgy. but like- oh no his dandruff. this kid does not shower. it's so bad. when he shaves his head, it's actually a blessing because now he doesn't have greasy hair hanging in his eyes. he's not quite in his extroverted era yet, instead being really shy and uneasy around the other kids. bossuet is his only friend and he kinda follows him around like a lost dog. he's in an art club and he makes the edgiest art you've ever seen- but only in an anime style. in their later years, he and joly bond over being the anime kids at their schools
-cosette is homeschooled! she's an extrovert and a ball of energy and because she is almost never around real people, her social skills are WEIRD. this poor girl oh my god she has no idea how to make normal conversations and she has no idea. she's also super into acting at this time and runs through lines of shakespeare with valjean. she loves to do the mercutio death scene- she always makes his final breath this goofy and ridiculous gasp that makes valjean laugh.
