A Question to get some light hearted-ness or just to be a lil silly. If ya'll could make an outfit for each-other, what would it be, and who would you force to wear it? For me, if we kept with the current trio. Hoppy would look like an Astronaut, Picky would be in a Terminator Cosplay, Kicken, i'm sorry, but I fully see you in a propeller hat kid, Lollipop and all. Anyways, back to whatever drama.

Astronaut? As in space astronaut?! As in rocket ships, planets, stars and moons astronaut? Because I LOVE ASTRONOMY!! ITS MY FAVORITE THING, LIKE EVER! Bubba told me that one day me and him would build a rocket ship together! Ooh, ooh! And then we went to the sciencey Miss Delight teacher and she told us so many facts! Did you know sound don’t travel in space? You could be screaming and no one would hear you! Oh! And the moon looks close, but it’s SO far away! Precisely 238,900 miles away! Crazy, right? And-and…why are you staring at me?

How do you think Azul, Riddle and Epel would deal with finding out from magic that their true love is someone who acts the opposite of them. At first it is arguments but then it ends up being a healthy and fun dynamic where they start liking each other. One day it comes down to Azul’s real form showing and instead of leaving. They just sit and scoot closer to him until he’s calmed down. With Riddle, help him be less stressed cuz he’s more stressed than usual by taking some of the workload off him behind his back and then he finds out later. Examples.

Azul

He honestly never understood how you could be so outgoing, so carefree, so...confident. It was something he loved and hated about you — it seemed like no matter what students said about you, no matter how kind or hurtful those words were, you took it with grace. He wished he could be like you, but at the same time, he envied you.

This caused a lot of arguments between the two of you, mostly because he was stubborn and refused to have you speak up when you two worked on labs together. He would interrupt you, make it seem like you didn't know what you were doing, etc. He was tempted to sabotage your work once too, but then he felt bad and didn't. You, on the other hand, decided to take revenge by arguing with him in the hallways or whenever you could and pointed out the flaws in his deals and helped students stay away from the Octavinelle mafia trio.

You two didn't know you were actually, well, soulmates until you decided to try a fun spell you read in a book. From the cauldron, you were able to see who you were destined with, and Great Seven look who it was! Funny thing is, Azul was doing the same thing just in his own dorm room and both of you, at the same time from different spaces, were like "ExCUSe ME?!" This likely was the start of you two being nicer to each other without really explaining why, but it grew into a friendship and then something more

You were the first to confess, of course because he was too scared to give you the heartfelt letter he had written multiple times over. He was flattered you found him, while at first a little annoying, extremely hardworking and caring of others. You got closer to him and learned about his past. While he thought you would jeer at his "pathetic attempts at revenge," you told him you understood where he was coming from and said that to you he wasn't a "pathetic octopus" like he called himself. Eventually, when you do see his real form, he wants to hide, but you hold his hand and tell him that you aren't scared of him, he's beautiful and you want him to be proud of who he is. He wants to run, swim to be exact, but with the way you look at him he feels like he's safe, it's...a warm feeling.

If anything, he's thankful you're able to keep his self-esteem from plummeting every day. You're grateful you have someone witty you can talk to and someone who, while doesn't show it often, truly cares for you. Through your differences you two are able to support each other and because of that the relationship is extremely healthy. I think he would feel more comfortable swimming with you in his mer-form after a few times you see him, perhaps he will truly one day feel comfortable with it too

Riddle

Similar to Azul, he's first slightly annoyed with you but he admires you at the same time. You're extremely close to Ace and Deuce (already a major difference) but you also have no problem skipping a few days of school here and there. You aren't a stickler for rules and you're super "go with the flow." He admires how you're able to brush off failures well and you're able to adapt to different scenarios without worrying about every detail. But this admiration also comes in the form of envy.

He won't outright sabotage your work like Azul, or at least attempt to. Instead, he just speaks to you coldly, leaving you wondering if you did something wrong. If you're in the same dorm as he is, your head will be offed more often than others, which just increases in number once he starts developing a crush on you (which will happen). Ace and Deuce might ask you to talk to him about his "tyranny" but you might say "nah I'm good" which, if he heard it, would only make him more confused. He only finds out you two are meant for each other after playing around with his cauldron and seeing you as his, well, soulmate after a few spells. He first convinced himself that this was a stupid, fake spell but then his mind started to wander further into his crush and then boom he's like "never mind, I'll try to talk to them more."

Surprisingly, you two can talk well. While you two have differences, I feel like you two would still hold conversations super well. His witty jokes and deep conversations interest you, while you give him space to relax. Soon enough, you two will be found studying together more and more often, with him developing his crush more and more. If you squint, you might be able to see him blushing from time to time, especially when you have no trouble hugging him in public. Ace and Deuce will think you're brave for that haha

He will, surprisingly, be the first to confess his feelings for you. I think he would want to do it in an almost cliche setting — a nice dinner or a private meeting somewhere empty. He chooses his words carefully, speaking in a soft, slightly flustered tone as he tells you he wants to go on a date with you. If you also happened to like him back, let him know with a nice hug too. He'll likely blush slightly, but his usual beet red face doesn't occur. He smiles, probably one of the most genuine smiles you've seen from him (he doesn't smile often) and he will ask when you're free for some tea with him.

You might give your affection in acts of service. If he looks super stressed out you might take some of the work off of him by doing some of the more typical dorm duties. Trey might appreciate the help too haha. You also give him some space to relax, even if it's just you listening to him rant about his homework or about the many students he has to take care of, you let him get some of the stress off of his chest. On the other hand, he'll give you free tutoring! He also gives you a lot of attention, also a lot of care. For example, if you're sick he'll literally give you the things you need even if you don't ask. He's super caring, and while it might take him some time to be super affectionate, he'll instinctively hold your hand after you two start doing that more.

Epel

To say you two had some quarrels would be an understatement. You two sometimes had shouting matches for no reason other than which dining hall food was better in the middle of the school courtyard. Epel liked you at first since you two went to Pomefiore together. However, you two started to find each other as complete opposites, especially after you found out how similar you were to Vil and how Epel was the opposite. Epel liked you for being a perfectionist since it meant you were always trying to do your best, he likes your perserverance! However, you were super picky and really big on being neat, which he didn't like. You on the other hand thought he was too wild from time to time.

You two often butted heads in Pomefiore, which Vil had to stop once with a stern, cold look (super scary). While you held yourself from throwing hands, you didn't mince your words. Epel didn't like that you seemed so proper all the time, but he also liked you when you weren't like that. You two had a lot of similar interests, you even liked the magical wheel! It was when you two were fooling around with some magic one day that you two found out you were soulmates. It was in a class, and he had suggested you try it. While you told him it was a dumb idea, you tried it as he did. Both of you gasped, then said you weren't going to tell who you saw, and didn't talk about it again.

However, you two started to be nicer to each other. That's how you two started to get closer and eventually put aside your differences. He found your sarcasm to be funny and he liked doing some calmer activities with you too. He often found himself enjoying the reading sessions you had and talking about the stories, which he thought he wouldn't have seen himself doing only a few months ago. Meanwhile for you, you found yourself enjoying climbing trees and just fooling around from time to time. Letting go of the high standards that stressed you out was relaxing, so it was nice!

I feel like you two confessed at the same time, which would be super cute. He probably started off by saying "I have something I need to tell you" and you were like "There's something I need to say" but you two said it at the same time. Anyways, he accepts the date offer by giving you a really nice hug and a (very strong) pat on the back. If you're shorter than he is, he'll wrap an arm around your shoulders and bring you closer to him. You two will likely have a nice walk in the forest together as your first date, who knows maybe you two will sit on a tree together too

You two balance each other out really nicely. Whenever he's getting too worked up over something you calm him down, or you use words rather than fists to tackle the issue with him. Meanwhile, if he feels like you're stressing out too much, he'll help you relax or de-stress, perhaps you two will go magical wheeling together. Vil will likely notice you two getting along and will say he didn't see it coming, though Rook might say he did haha. Either way, I think it will be nice having you two support each other and you'll definitely be invited to see his family in Harveston (which is super nice!)

As the night went on, you sat alone in the garden, admiring the flower that Wally gave you. Moments of you and him together crossed your mind, causing your heart to slightly flutter, and your cheeks to glow pink.

"Oh, Y/N," you said to yourself. "To think you have feelings for him."

After looking around to make sure that no one was around, you began to sing out loud.

General:

Sunshine boy is definitely a big fan of tickles. Laughing at just a few touches, bonding with his friends, watching them let their walls down for the sake of silly happiness? Yeah, count him in.

He likes both sides, though being tickled does have a special place in his heart. He’s a lee-leaning switch, but not by a whole lot.

He can only say the t-word on special occasions (extreme confidence, other lers/lees in it with him, drunken boldness). 98.71% of the time, he’ll go beet red at the attempt.

Lee:

When he gets lee moods, everyone around him will know. He can sometimes just ask for help if it’s someone who’s used to his silliness, like Red Son or Mei, but other than that, it’s tacit signals.

He’ll run a hand through his hair a lot (exposing his side in the process), get way more fidgety than normal, speak in a higher pitch, and very nonchalantly stare at his friends’ hands. Not that hard to get the message.

Kicks, flails and squirms when tickled. He really tries not to, but his nerves pretty much go nuts. It’s best to pin him or get him from behind if you don’t want an accidental bloody nose.

Worst spots are his navel and lower back. He absolutely loses it whenever anyone so much as pokes there.

Melt spots are his palms and shoulders. Tickly massages and palm kisses leave him a puddle of giggles.

Really bright and bubbly laughter when you get him going. When it’s light, lots of little squeaks and half-hearted “no!”s

Ler:

Sickly sweet while also a teasing mother-trucker. If you think that’s confusing, imagine how the lee feels-

The sunshine boy definitely has a fiery side, so watch out

“Holding it in, huh? I think it’d feel a bit nicer if you let out that laughter. Don’t you?

He’s incredibly considerate of boundaries, even if you’re obviously okay with it.

Checks in wherever you seem to be laughing a bit too hard, though you’ve only just got done giggling. It’s smart to set up a safeword so he actually does know when to keep going.

Confident lees will love him. He’s easy to fluster if you can say the t-word enough times, and he nearly dies if someone confidently asks him to tickle them.

An aftercare master. He makes whatever your favorite drink is, gets snacks, makes a cuddle nest and just hangs out with you. If you’re not big on touch, he’s fine to just watch some YouTube videos and chill out.

🍑Sun Wukong☀️

General:

We can all agree that he’s a straight-up switch. Loves wrecking people, adores being reduced to a giggly puddle of mush.

However, he refuses to admit any of that

He likes the feeling of being vulnerable around his friends, but the thought of saying that is terrifying for him (again, good luck getting him to say that. The great Monkey King allegedly has no fear)

Lee:

He’s giggling like crazy before you even touch him.

If you even give a small hint of what you’re gonna do, get ready for him to run.

When you do catch him (he will eventually let you), he curls up like a pill bug and rides it out. If you mention his tail wagging, he’ll let out a string of adorably squeaky profanities.

His actual laugh is a lot less obnoxious than his “Monkey King” one. It’s bright and bubbly, full of squeaks and the occasional snort.

His worst spots are his ribs and his lower back, specifically the base of his tail. Good luck keeping him still if you go there.

Melt spots are his ears and hips. His hips are a bit of an obscure spot, but he will dissolve if you trace them.

Once you’re done wrecking him, he becomes a cuddly, sleepy little mess. Be ready to stay with him for at least an hour afterwards.

Ler:

He’s such a chaos goblin I swear-

Loves the “Tickle Monster” trope. He can and will use his power to make clones of himself and/or shift his appearance for optimum tickle-ability

If he’s the one doing the tickling, he can say the t-word. This is a power he always abuses.

“The Tickle Monster’s gonna getcha, kid! Better run~”

“Oh sorry, couldn’t hear you through all that laughter. Did you say ‘keep going’? Perfect!”

“You know, I could stop, but where’s the fun in that? I think you can agree, can’t ya?”

“Your laugh is so fun! I could listen to it for centuries… But I think I can settle for five more minutes.”

It takes him a bit, but he does try to check in and see when you need a break. It’d be a nice idea to set a safeword or a clear tap-out beforehand, just in case.

He’s actually really good with aftercare. He makes the best lemonade tea, and he’ll attempt to make a good snack. Just watch out for any of his “inventive” cooking/baking methods.

General:

He acts like he hates it. If you don't know him all that well, he'll seem genuinely done with it.

If you do know him, however, he has tells. The way his tail twitches when the t-word is said, the way just a hint of pink settles on his cheeks, the way his arms just barely clamp to his sides…

Yeah, he's not as slick as he thinks.

Prefers being tickled most of the time, but he isn't afraid to wreck a bitch just because.

Lee:

He will fight and deny it until the day his immortality runs dry, but he loves it.

Until you actually start, he'll act like he doesn't want it. Kicking, hissing, running, the whole nine.

The minute those wiggling fingers touch down, though? He melts.

All protest disappears, the only thing close being small “no”s through his laughter. His tail will wag adorably (be careful if you mention this).

He could just shadow-travel away, but conveniently “forgot because of the literal torture” he was experiencing or “couldn't focus enough” to do so.

Worst spots are his knees and his back. Him and Wukong share the infamous I-will-die spot at the bases of their tails, though this boy's is significantly worse.

Melt spots are beneath his chin and his ears. It is the cutest thing to just scratch beneath and hear his little purrs while he tries not to giggle.

Ler:

Puts his villain experience to use

He'll use his shadow travel to sneak up on you/cheat in a chase. Nobody said he had to play fair…

He definitely makes clones to help himself. One to hold your arms up, another to grab your legs, and a few to get the more annoying spots.

Teasing in a playful-yet-asshole sorta way. If you're feeling shitty, he'll be such a sweetheart, but he's a shit 80% of the time.

“Wow, ticklish here too? You're just a walking tickle-spot at this point.”

“You think this is bad? Just wait till I call in the cavalry~”

“It must be hard, being this ticklish and all. How have you survived so far? Thought you'd have laughed yourself silly.”

“Just a few little pokes and you're down for the count. Would suck if some of the villains found out…”

“Worst spot, huh? Better buckle up~”

Somehow knows exactly when to stop every time. You don't even have to say anything: he just knows.

Masterful aftercare. He honestly loves cuddling with his lee afterwards, so you're getting some unless you specifically tell him no. He'll send a shadow clone to go get you a drink and some snacks if you want. Peaceful music listening and most likely a nap (⁠◕⁠ᴗ⁠◕⁠✿⁠)

Hello I hope my favourite Clegan writer is doing well <3 I was thinking of a hogwarts fic! Like after the first war with voldy everyone is scared of sending their kids to Hogwarts and here comes the American Wizarding government sending a bunch of their own (our boys) to make things easier in the UK and make it look peaceful and safe and to encourage other wizards to do the same. I think it would be a cool and fun thing to read with Gale's dad hating him cuz of his magic, the boys not being familiar with the culture and making a mess everywhere they go ans wreaking havoc, and eventually Buck and Bucky finding a home in Hogwarts together. I'm sorry can you tell I can't write lol I just wanted to share this HC with you, have a great day/night <3

I was literally thinking of a Hogwarts fic the other day! great minds think alike!!

okay I do think Gale is very much like Hermione, aka his parents are both muggles and he was born with magic. His mother loves it, while his father hates it and tries to hide it from everyone. When he gets his letter informing him he will be moving to Britain and studying magic at Hogwarts, Gale's father almost immediately puts him on a plane and sends him over there, wanting him out of his sight.

At Hogwarts, he meets the other American wizards that were transferred to Britain to help bridge the gap between magical societies. He meets Croz and Rosie (Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw respectively) and instantly gets drawn to them. Gale himself is a Slytherin (one of the "good" ones lol) so they make an unlikely trio. They get along well and are incredibly smart, some of the smartest in their houses. So far, Gale is having a blast at Hogwarts.

It isn't until loud and cocky John Egan from Gryffindor (another American he hadn't met yet, or would he be British in this? tough decisions) starts taking a liking to him that his world gets turned upside down. He always goes up to Gale after classes, throwing an arm around him and tugging him to meet his friends and laughing far too loud for Gale's liking. Croz and Rosie say that John likes him, but Gale doesn't believe them

GUYS I'm thinking of a ball situation, a "get to know you" dance for the Americans and the English, and hilarity absolutely ensues for the Gale/John relationship. Gale sees John with another girl, hands around her waist and immediately gets jealous, leaving the Great Hall and running back to the Slytherin common room. He doesn't realize John followed him until he hears his name being shouted and sees John behind him. Gale wants to be angry, but can't get over how stunning John looks in his dress robes.

Something something they "fight" and a confession slips out? oops? and they kiss in the hallway for the first time 😭

they start dating and become an unlikely pair, it isn't often that a Gryffindor and a Slytherin date, but they quickly become the "it" couple at Hogwarts. They spend their days at the lake, the forbidden forest, and sometimes manage to sneak each other into their common rooms to make out in front of the fire. They would go on dates to Hogsmeade and eat in the great hall together, ooh they make me so soft 🥹

I think after they graduate they both would become aurors (taking from Callum Turner in harry potter there) and they live together in Britain, working for the British Ministry of magic

ANGST TIME: they're adults when Voldemort returns, and are tasked with helping bring him down. It does a number on their home life, they're both so stressed about it that they barely have time for each other. What if one of them gets caught by death eaters, tortured for information while the other desperately tries to get them back. Oh boy that would make for some good fic reading

TodoBakuDeku (My Hero Academia)

Obviously not canon and never will be but oh does this ship have a chokehold on me. I just think this trio is so balanced in every way. Like we have our precious TodoDeku who connect by being nerds and the sweetest boys. Then we also have TodoBaku who are just lovely little menaces. And, of course, BakuDeku--can't beat friends to enemies to lovers. And then they all come together to form a masterpiece. Idk I just love this ship so much.

BakuDeku (My Hero Academia)

So I honestly really wasn't into this ship too much until reading the final war arc and meta. Other people's viewpoints changed my mind! Hori has done a really great job of portraying BakuDeku's complex relationship in the manga (for however you view their canon relationship). So like idk how can I not ship For-the-Rest-of-Our-Lives Katsuki with Control-Your-Heart Izuku?

Sidenote: I almost didn't include this on the list because I tend to only really ship this pair while reading the manga. I never shipped them in the anime unless it was TodoBakuDeku with Deku as a hinge. And I don't even read many fics with just Katsuki and Izuku. I just feel like fandom BakuDeku feels incomplete without Shouto for some reason. Like I'm Team BakuDeku for the manga, Team hinge TodoBakuDeku in the anime, but throuple TodoBakuDeku in the sanctuary of my mind/on ao3. (Maybe that'll change once I start watching Season 7 though.)

KilluGon (Hunter x Hunter)

I only watched this anime this year but ohmygod I immediately fell in love with Gon and Killua. They are so precious. I mean, Killua is just a little smitten kitten. And Gon? He's in it. Anyway, love their dynamic and of course I ship them. Gon is Killua's light after all!

MatchaBlossom (Sk8 the Infinity)

Literally just started shipping this so I'm in the throes of obsession rn but their dynamic? *chef's kiss* (hehe, you like what I did there?) Childhood friends? Pining while the other falls for another? Realizing feelings? Already married bickering old couple? Give me all the headcanons please!

And I'm obsessed. I was a diehard Danny Phantom fan as a kid (we stan our queer/genderqueer/bisexual/trans ghost boy). Ooh what’s Darker Destinies sounds interesting!

!! It’s my PMD AU!! It basically serves as a third installment to the PMD Sky plotline since it focuses on Giratina and the Distorted Realm (PMD-verse Distortion World basically lol). It’s got a lot of twists and is actually pretty dark for a PMD AU but it’s one of my all time favorites 🥰 When I first came up with the concept I had just finished watching Made In Abyss for the first time so that influenced it a lot. And it’s perfect bc the dungeon Giratina rules over in Sky is called World Abyss so I was like OH YO I can DEFINITELY use this haha

Long story short Pip gets whisked off to the Distorted Realm as just an extension of her soul, while her body remains in the real world. Chimchar asks Dialga to send him to the future so he can recruit the Future Trio—so they can help him figure out what’s going on with Pip and where she went. Meanwhile Pip starts running into lookalikes of her friends and realizes they’re from a different timeline where things did NOT end very well for them. Grovyle has become sort of a mercenary and adopted Dusknoir’s “survive no matter the cost” outlook, and has had his fair share of devastating losses (both his own Pip and Celebi being killed before they could go back to the past and retrieve the Time Gears). The guild is in shambles due to the world literally ending; they were forced to turn rogue, Chatot is dead and Chimchar took over as Guildmaster because Wigglytuff’s too emotionally distraught to lead. Everyone existing in the Distorted Realm is miserable and trying to kill each other and have turned even more dark and twisted than the Dark Future. It’s a MESS. But luckily Pip’s there to start getting things into gear and get everyone moving in the right direction. Starting with heading down into World Abyss (which, to the surface Pokemon, is considered to be an absolute death trap to be avoided at all costs) to meet with Giratina ;)

There’s a lot more going on in the AU but yeah it’s one I’ve had for a while! And one I’ve been wanting to work on more. If I could turn this into a ROM hack one day that would be SO neat

Ooh okay so- this got a bit long but I had a lot of fun I hope you like reading!

San and the Squid Sisters- it started out as a sort of like, imagine two deities and their terrifying demigod champion, which slowly devolved into a more genuine sibling relationship, but still having traces of the dynamic before like. Marie, Callie, and San are a very goofy trio.

Callie is peppy and positive, Marie is snarky and sardonic, and San is serious and controlled- but underneath that San still stands as this harboring entity of pure power that Marie and Callie stand by and support. San as captain is still very much The Captain but without Marie and Callie they also lose much drive.

They're all symbiotic and you can't pry any of them apart from each other now. They're a destructively powerful family that can tear the world apart if they wanted to.

Meanwhile Marie turns around and squishes Yon's cheek like: heyyyy its my scrimbly its my scrimble guy its my little fella its my funny little dude.

While San goes from champion to little sibling- Yon is like, runt, to champion. Rising star of the NSS. Is far more helpful and reliable than Yon will ever believe.

Marie sees so much potential in Yon and just wants to encourage the kid. She sees Yon as someone who hasn't quite lived yet and will always be someone Yon can fall back on. She feels like she also owes that to them.

Callie thinks Yon is just swell.

Hachi and Off the Hook- I don't see them as a particularly arbitrary mothers and daughter trio but they're a found family nonetheless. Mentors, Big Sisters, Weird Aunts, Mom Friends, thats the energy Off the Hook give to Hachi.

They'll never adopt Hachi, she's barely like three years younger than Marina- but Hachi sees them as reliable and nurturing friends. Off the Hook will always support Hachi and see her as a dear companion they care very deeply for.

Hachi originally lives with Off the Hook after escaping the metros but being a bit overwhelmed, she decides to move in with Yon instead and no matter the favor, Off the Hook will answer Hachi's needs. (Though Hachi is trying not to abuse this power)

This is how Yon gets to meet Off the Hook and I imagine Yon is a huge fan and eventually becomes a close friend of Off the Hook as well.

Now... Neo. Neo is pure splatland pride. Wasteland scavenger, most of it's memories lie in the sandy dunes and the occasional dip into the city they found somewhat foul but... she actually quite respected Deep Cut. He knew they were bandits due to it's patrols in the splatlands and seeing them do bandit-ing shenanigans but the splatfests were.. one of the few times Neo found themself lost in their own enjoyment of Splatsville.

Big Buddy did his best to try and bring Neo to Splatsville during Splatfests. Those times were the longest Neo actually willingly stayed in town before fully moving into Splatsville post Storymode.

However, Deep Cut aren't really mentors to Neo, not even after the Storymode. They love to fight the kid for fun now, it's very respectable, but Neo isn't getting any lessons from Deep Cut. They're more like scrappy rival-ish friends that Neo can train on equal ground with. (Big Man is Neo's favorite though. Just genuinely. His hugs remind Neo of Big Buddy...)

Meanwhile- The Squid Sisters think Neo's resemblance to both young and current San is a bit both unnerving and endearing. it's like they have their little little sibling back all over again- but it's quite a sad sight to see too.

They're a bit more invested in Neo than Neo is to them. Squid Sisters are more like weird distant aunts to Neo than any sort of potential siblings (which they respect! they just, also want to pamper the kid much to Neo's dismay).

Okay so I obviously needed a real good palate cleanser after I watched Barry and subsequently melted down a little bit, and there was an obvious choice because Y’AAAAAAALL

ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING IS BACK!

I’m fucking crazy for this show. Steve Martin??! Martin Short???!!! being amazing old guy best friends with Selena Gomez to temper their ridiculousness and bring that fantastic sass? 

It’s one of those rare, perfect shows. Everything about this show is absolutely on point. It’s funny. It’s smart. It’s emotional. And ridiculous. And gorgeously stylized. I’ve been on this wagon since day one and it’s truly wonderful.

Wherein, three tenants of an upscale apartment building in New York City, The Arconia,  start a podcast after someone dies in said building, and they’re convinced it was murder. 

Since season 4 is starting, it’s the perfect time for a rewatch, gang. And it’s my first one! That’s always a fun experience, getting into something you know you enjoyed for a second time. It’s not quite familiar yet, it can still surprise you because you remember the shape of it but not necessarily all of the details. It was extremely satisfying. 

I’m trying to decide which has been my favorite season so far, let’s talk it out.

Season 1: Victim, Tim Kono

A lot of shows struggle in the first season but dang this one is so strong. Charles (Steve Martin) is a mostly washed up tv star from the 90’s, Oliver (Martin Short) is an eccentric Broadway director who got blackballed after his disastrous last production, and Mabel (Selena Gomez) is in her late 20’s, squatting in her aunt’s posh Manhattan apartment and not doing much else. 

At the start, the fire alarm in the building goes off and all three head to a nearby restaurant and run into each other. They bond over a podcast about a missing girl’s murder in Oklahoma, produced by the podcast queen Cinda Canning (Tina, effing, FEY!!!!!!). Cinda is an amazing addition to this show, I love Tina Fey in absolutely everything but she is so great here.

Anyway, then they find out a tenant in the building apparently shot himself, but they’d been in the elevator with him not long before and none of them were buying the story, so what else was there to do than start a podcast and investigate? It’s a ridiculous premise honestly, but it works so fucking well. 

In my mind, Mabel is the focus of that season, it turns out she has a connection to Tim Kono, the victim, and the story winds out of control which I love, but they do a really good job of balancing between the three of them. Charles’ storyline ends up being insane and I enjoy Oliver’s snark and pluck and his confidence. 

And I obviously love the bromance that blooms between Charles and Oliver, it’s so sweet. Like their real friendship bleeds through. 

Another highlight of season 1 is Charles’s stunt double from Brazzos, played by Jane Lynch. The way they make the two of them really look like each other is funny as hell and Oliver’s reaction to meeting Sazz is classic - believing it’s Charles he asks what work he’s had done. It’s hilariously uncanny.

I won’t go into too many specifics, it’s too good to spoil, but I think I can say now that the killer in season one is my favorite. Didn’t really care about the victim but ooh, I DID NOT see that one coming. 

Season 2: Victim, Bunny Folger

So after they solve their first murder, the trio celebrates and everything is awesome, but Mabel goes back to her apartment for more champagne and guess what! She finds the dead body of Bunny, the head of the board for the Arconia, who they’d spent season 1 not getting along with - Bunny had even tried to evict them.

Surprise, surprise, the three of them immediately get arrested since Mabel was found basically standing, covered in blood, over the body.  #bloodymabel

It’s fun that they spend the season trying to clear their names, I liked that aspect of it. Of course they had to come under suspicion at some point, how many murders can realistically occur in an Upper West Side building before it gets weird and you have to look at the people who’ve suddenly gained notoriety because of it? 

This season for me was all about Charles, his backstory with his not-really-a-step-daughter and his dad. I guess it’s really about family overall, with Oliver’s own family drama bubbling up. I loved that they did an entire bit about Oliver always knowing when someone is lying - the scenes of him orchestrating rounds of the Son of Sam game are fantastic - but then of course he gets a big ol’ shock when a devastating secret is revealed. 

I wasn’t a huge fan of Mabel’s storyline with the random british artist that popped up out of nowhere, she was kind of a twit, but you do you girl. I’m with it. 

The killer reveal in season 2 is definitely my favorite - along with the joke about them throwing a “killer reveal party” - WAS it a party to reveal the killer, or a party that was going to be killer in nature??! Definitely the most satisfying reveal so far. 

Season 3: Victim, Ben Glenroy

So after they solve a few murders back to back, the three of them suddenly have some good press and their lives start to turn around. Oliver gets a call to direct a new play actually ON Broadway this time, even though his last production had been a literal disaster - mermen jumping from the rafters into what should have been a pool, but was definitely just a hard stage floor, instead. L O L at the retelling he does of that tragedy during season 1. 

Mabel of course is still a muddling millennial but she’s at least finally finished renovating her aunt’s apartment, and Charles’s return to his rebooted show, Brazzos, is on hiatus. SIDE NOTE, I love all of the Brazzos flashbacks, they’re so ridiculous and yet absolutely 100% what a crime drama in the 90’s was like. 

Anyway, Charles joins Oliver’s show, which is starring Ben Glenroy (played by PAUL RUDD who I absolutely love), a famous actor who’s known for his superhero franchise, CoBro - which is about a bro who turns into a literal COBRA and fights crime. 

One of the best parts of this season is the mentions of Ben’s starring roles. Mabel loves him from a show called “Girl Cop” and there’s an adorable moment where she does the handshake from the show with him (kind of). I want to be able to watch all of the invented content, it sounds so incredible.

BUT, of course, on the opening night of Oliver’s play, Ben ends up dead. He is by FAR my favorite victim. He seems like a dick and he definitely is but as they investigate you see a different side of him as well and I will always and forever love Paul Rudd. Bringing him on was a fantastic decision.

Did I mention that MERYL fucking STREEP is in the musical as well?? And her character is wonderful. When Oliver decides to turn the show into a musical after Ben’s death, she gets the best song of the entire thing and the first time she performs it is so poignant. I choked up a little bit the first time, and again the second time. 

Also, this season has my favorite episode of the series - Charles is trying to learn a ‘patter song’ for the musical and the first time he performs it in front of the cast, he devolves into a string of hilarious curses and he blacks out and ends up in a white room, surrounded with soothing music and he’s happy and dancing and everything is great. Until they cut back to reality and his pants are down and the stage he’s on is a mess and everyone is fucking MORTIFIED. When he asks what happened, Oliver screams “TOO SOON!!!” while Mabel is shouting, “Not ready!”

It’s absurd and absolutely fucking hilarious. He goes to the ‘white room’ a few more times in that episode and I can’t help but die everytime. I don’t know why I find it so hilarious but the sequences are perfect. You never know what happened and neither does Charles and I love it. 

I think I’ve decided this is my favorite season, even if the killer is kind of obvious. There was so much going on with the musical that the usually elaborate story of getting to the murderer is kind of muted, but it’s still so. good. 

And so, season 3 wraps up nicely, but we find out that Sazz has basically been executed in Charles’s apartment while they celebrate. Uh oh.

Which leads me to the start of Season 4. I’m SO excited. One of the best parts of this show is the cameos, and I am losing my mind over the addition of Zach Galifianakis. I’ve been in love with his insane face since his comedy special “Live at the Purple Onion” was on Netflix. I’m talking like, 2008, people. I saw him perform at some random festival before The Hangover ever came out. For a long time “Purple Onion” was my comfort watch, before ‘comfort watch’ was really a thing. 

He’s going to be incredible, and I can’t wait. I’m sure Eugene Levy and Eva Longoria will be good too but whatever, it’s gonna be all about Zatch Gaspifinasky for me. 

I’m not a huge fan of streaming shows releasing one episode a week, but I’ll endure it happily for Only Murders In The Building. Not many shows lately have been as solid, consistent, and FUN to watch as this one. 

Who killed Sazz Pataki, y’all?! I can’t wait to find out…

Ooh, can I ask for more theories about Kou? Maybe just an analysis of his character? (Anything about Kou really, he's my favorite)

Kou is a wonderful character, I like how he is kind and tries to be as fair as possible. His weak point is his naivety, he lets himself be fooled very easily, and this becomes a weakness. Therein lies the problem.

Kou's weakness caught the attention of the Tsukasa trio. I have the impression that they have been trying to influence him for a long time and are using Mitsuba to do so. Because they don't mind Mitsuba talking and being friends with him even though they know that Kou is Teru's brother, the person they run away from, and they don't want Mitsuba to get close.

Did you understand?

It's on purpose. They want to make Kou doubt the Minamoto family's principles. It was Natsuhiko who told Kou how to become a supernatural and Kou is considering the idea. Kou helped Hanako when Teru attacked him, this has already happened twice, do you think Kou from the beginning of the story would do that? In fact, he appeared precisely with the intention of exorcising Hanako.

Have you seen Kou's development? He doesn't want to do that anymore, at least not with supernaturals that look like humans.

What if Tsukasa wants Kou to judge Hanako as a good supernatural so that in the end, if that is the situation, he doesn't get in the way when Hanako "loses control" and doesn't try to exorcise him?

Do you think Kou would exorcise Mitsuba? He didn't even do it when Mitsuba himself asked him to. Did you understand? Kou is entering a complicated path because he is being indirectly influenced by Tsukasa, and he didn't realize it.

Kou will still have his big moment, as the story goes he is developing to become a great exorcist at the right time, remembering that Hanako said he would wait for the day when he will be able to exorcise him, I imagine that could to happen.

And if he gives up on being an exorcist, he could end up becoming a supernatural, as he seems to be interested in.

But to answer my top 3?

Special mentions to While you still can in 5th place, about Time and travelling back in time to save the others (has a prequel fic you should probably read first) had me on the edge of my seat the entire time, stayed up late at night to binge it, and Every other star in 4th, a medieval au, was really fun to read along with every day and the relationship between Legend, Hyrule and Warriors as a trio was so good, especially near the end. This is tied with these two authors' other fic the wondrous sword of legend which is just. So. Good. (Legend is hyrule's sword spirit, a lot happens)

3. Their Melody

Still ongoing, it is really cool! Legend and Marin had a baby called Melody who stayed with him once he woke the windfish. Going through everybodies nightmares is so cool, and i cant wait for Warrior's one next!

2. Scales, Wings, and Mythical things

Read this one recently, and it's fun! Most of the boys are transformed into their tranformations and try to rescue the others from a wagon of people who collect mystical creatures (featuring Merleg!! Best part) It's really fun and still ongoing.

This one is good, it's one of the first fics i've read since joining this fandom and it's really intresting. Written so well that i felt like i was also experiencing being blind for the first time with Legend. Didn't know what i was going into at first but it was a really great read about acceptance

Wip Preview: Let’s All Go to the Movies!

So I’m writing again. It’s great the only problem is that it turns out this fun little Duckverse June prompt might be another one of those stories that comes out longer than I anticipated because of all the fun little ideas I have for it. The solution? Show a preview cause it’s Wednesday. Thanks to @tokuvivor for helping me decide what to show. He wanted to see the context of who Gosalyn called a hipster. So I’ll show that. Hopefully this’ll get done by the end of June or early July at the latest:

Fenton and Gandra’s kiss ended the very second they realized the three kids they were watching were watching them.

“Aw don’t be mean, Gosalyn.” Webby chimed in, “I thought it was cute.”

“Well I don’t want to see or hear any more of that when we get inside the theater,” Gosalyn demanded, “I came here to watch the Titanic Trio kick butt and save the dimensional multiverses, not listen to you two make-out the entire time.”

“I never would have guessed…” Gandra stated as she looked down at the Comet Guy shirt Dewey was currently rocking over his usual long sleeved blue shirt.

“He’s the coolest! He travels the galaxy in a spaceship that is also his hat! And he’s like the greatest dancer ever!” Dewey explained.

“Yeah Comet Guy is cool and all, but he’s nothing compared to the Scarlet Brigand!” Gosalyn commented as she unzipped her jacket to show off her Scarlet Brigand hoodie. “Nothing more badass than a bad bitch bandit who knows how to use a sword!”

“Um, Gosalyn?” Fenton spoke up, “I don’t think Drake would approve of that lan-”

“I’ve always been a big fan of the Masked Mallard!” Webby responded to Gosalyn as she put on her Masked Mallard mask and started punching the air. “No powers or weapons. Just pure intelligence and strength!”

“Wow, sounds like the characters are just different enough for each of you to project yourselves onto.” Gandra observed.

“Yeah!” Dewey replied. “Do you two have a favorite character?!”

“They don’t have to be a member of the Titanic Trio!” Webby added” It could be anyone from the ACU! That’s Awesome Cinematic Universe. Based upon the Awesome Comics of course.”

“Don’t tell me,” Gosalyn smirked up at Gandra, “your favorite character is probably one of those lame F.I.E.L.D. Agents.”

A small scoff left Gandra’s mouth as she rolled her eyes back at the teen duck. “Look, I’m sorry kids, but I’ve only seen like three of these movies from the past decade and don’t really remember the characters.”

“Wait, what!?” Both Dewey and Webby gasped in unison.

“You’re telling me that you’re walking into the third Titanic Trio movie without watching the previous two Titanic Trio movies or the previous Super Snooper movie?!” Webby asked as she looked up Gandra. “You’ve at least watched any of the Masked Mallard or Comet Guy movies?!”

“I think I might have watched one of the Masked Mallards-, wait Super Snooper? I thought this group was a trio not a quartet.”

“Oh they are, Super Snooper is not a member!” Dewey happily clarified for Gandra, “Super Snooper: The Rise of the Resurrection introduced the Brainteasers who are going to be the main enemy of this movie!”

“Ooh, I loved that one!” Fenton chimed in. “I’d say Super Snooper is my favorite character from the ACU as well as the Awesome Comics.”

“Well you’re in luck, Fenton!” Webby assured the older duck, “I heard from the Sabrewings that he may or may not play a small role in this movie!”

“Really!? Yes!” Fenton celebrated while Gandra shook her head in amusement at her boyfriend as the group continued their journey towards the theater.

Dewey and Webby continued walking beside Gandra.

“Since you’re out of the loop, we can tell you everything you need to know before the movie begins!” Webby suggested to Gandra.

“Yeah! I’m a real genius when it comes the ACU!” Dewey bragged.

“Can’t say that I’m surprised to hear that.” Gandra stated.

“Go ahead! Ask me anything!”

“Okay, did the superheroes win in Super Snooper: The Rise of the Resurrection?”

“Yeah! It went down li-”

“Thanks, I’m all caught up Dewey.”

“So what, you’re too cool to enjoy the ACU?” Gosalyn inquired as she placed her hands in her pockets.

“Just never really liked superhero movies…” Gandra responded.

“Are you joking, Gandra? You don’t like superhero movies?!” Dewey gasped in shock. “But you’re a nerd!”

“She’s the worst kind of nerd, Dewey” Gosalyn observed, “a hipster.”

Gandra scoffed. “Yeah, sorry to disappoint you kids.”

“Well regardless, I’ll be sitting right next to you Gandra in case you have any more questions!” Dewey assured the hen.

“Oh, super…”

“And if you don’t wanna talk during the movie I actually wrote down notes and wrote down all key details that anyone will need to know before seeing Titanic Trio: Interdimensional Fractured Multiverses!” Webby went ahead and handed Gandra her sparkling notebook.

“Uh thanks Webby but I-…wow, this is all actually really well organized and well-written.” Gandra observed as she shook the glitter off her hands. “Suit, have you ever seen anyone be this efficient with their notes.”

Fenton looked at the notebook. “Oh wow! All color-coded, nice graphs, key details as well as extensive ones. Webby this is impressive!”

“Aw, thanks!” Webby smiled bashfully at the two adults.

“Sheesh, can you believe we’re the only non-nerds in this group?” Gosalyn whispered to Dewey as she held her fist out for a fist bump.

“Nerp!” Dewey bumped his fist against Gosalyn’s.

You know a mutual once asked me “Why do you think Dewey and Gandra should’ve been a team? Wouldn’t he annoy Gandra.” Yes. That is precisely why I think they should be a team

Headcanons for Shadowpeach being Bai He’s dad’s please? (You can do it for your au where that happens if you want to btw, though you can also do it in a sort of canon scenario where the two adopt Bai He after making up or something)

Ahh I haven’t done anything for my au in a while so I’ll do that!

* So in the beginning Wukong was a bit hesitant to get too close to them, since he and Macaque don’t have the greatest history, but one day he saves Bai He from almost falling off a cliff when she was running around with the baby monkeys (the monkeys (both the babies and Mac & SWK) had heart attacks but it’s ok-) and she started to want to play with him more. So he became close to her before he and Mac patched things up and became lovers again

* Bai He likes to wear her hair in two buns on the side of her head. When Wukong one day finally asks why, she stops playing with her dolls and says, “Because it makes my shadow look like a monkey like my baba and papa!” with the biggest smile on her face. She immediately turned away to start playing again so she doesn’t see her fathers both clutching their hearts and crying their eyes out

* She calls Macaque Baba and Wukong Papa

* Bai He knows that her dads have a history together, and she figures out some things when she’s older by looking them up in books/on the internet. She keeps her knowing a secret because she’s afraid that if she brings it up her family will fall apart. Dw they all talk it out eventually but there’s a long period of time where she has this insecurity

* Groom/Braid train! Bai He in front getting her hair brushed, cleaned and braided by one of her dads while the other does the same to him. Mac is surprised that Wukong is actually pretty good at braiding (Wukong takes mock offense to his mate thinking he would suck at it; Bai He just giggles at her dads’ banter)

* Self projecting the little “Oo-Ooh~!” Id do whenever I saw my parents kiss when I was younger onto Bai He

* When she’s hanging out with the Traffic Light Trio for the Big Sis/Big Bro thing she has to hold back so much bc of MK’s rambling over Moneky King. “That’s my papa. He’s talking about my papa and I can’t even say anything about it. WAIT MY PAPA DID /W H A T/????” This is how she gets her Dad Lore™️, much like a lot of us (I assume or maybe this is just me-): From a person who isn’t her dad. In case you’re curious my mom is my Dad Lore supplier usually. Macaque probably tells her the stuff not usually talked about in stories though. “Oh yeah he was an idiot (affectionate). * Macaque puts on shadow plays for her all the time, especially before bed. She asks for her favorite story and Mac gets flustered bc Wukong is watching too. “Th-the Hero and The Warrior were like the… the Sun and the Moon-” “Oho, were they now~?” “Papa, shh! Baba, please continue!”(It’s a bit of an edited version of the story from the Shadowplay episode, dw, he’s not putting his daughter to bed with a story about betrayal and heartbreak)

* Big timeskip here but after the events of season 3 (oh boy once I get the basics of this au out and can finally get into the shows timeline with it, yall aren’t ready for the angst), they all have some white in their hair. The family have “Hair Dye Days” where they all dye said white either their natural hair color or a fun unnatural color. Usually it’s just Bai He who does the unnatural colors (like pink or red; red is to match her dads :3), but sometimes Mac will dye his purple and Wukong will dye his teal/turquoise (I do Not know which one is the one he often has as his accent color but it’s gotta be one of the other. Probably)

* Last one for now bc this is getting long: Wukong is a living space heater. Macaque and Bai He will just cuddle up to him on each side and he has to try not to cry bc he’s been alone for so long, with only the baby monkeys to keep him company, and now he has a daughter and a husband and his touch starved self is gonna burst from how much love is in his soul now
